| | |  History of Magic Lesson One
 Located down one end of the first floor corridor is the History of Magic classroom. It is simply an ordinary classroom, like one would expect, student desks neatly lined up in rows with the professor's desk located in the front of the room with a blackboard behind it.
Today's lesson is held late afternoon in the middle of autumn, the sun beginning to hang low in the sky with rays of light filtering in through the classroom windows. Professor McCormack is found leaning against the side of his desk, waiting for his students to arrive. Come in and take a seat, there are no assigned ones here yet. But Professor McCormack has taken a note from one of his old mentors as he knows the name of exactly one student, so please follow the instructions on the board.

Listening to the Professor intently, Lux continued to take notes as the Professor explained things. Of course she had not considered the wandless magic thing, and she herself would be totally lost with hers. Granted, she was not that great even with her wand. The mention of a ghost made her shiver a little with fright, but she couldn't help but feel bad for a man who was killed for doing magic; it was all rather sad.
The theory portion done and her notes complete, Lux placed her stuff back into her bag and got up from her seat. While she was not great at magic, the spell he wanted to teach them seemed interesting and potentially helpful. Placing her bag over her shoulder, she headed out the door after the Professor. | |

They got to go outside and actually have a practical lesson? Well this made a difference. Terry personally didn't mind the sit down and learn sort of lesson once in a while, it was beneficial after all. You learnt all the basic facts and you had time to scribble them all down. But after a while it could get a little tedious and potentially, if the professor went on for too long without letting anyone else speak, it could actually get a little boring.
So the Slytherin stood up immediately with a grin and grabbed hold of his bag, swung it over his shoulder and followed the Professor out of the classroom. He was definitely up for learning whatever spell could be of advantage to him.

Well Adrienne was pretty satisfied with how that had gone, even if she'd been unable to put in her own two cents (which clearly would have improved the quality of the discussion by at least two hundred per cent). And now they were doing a practical portion, which was always fun. Unless they were Flamsteed's, where they were silly and generally had little to do with actual learning and more to do with having fun, a practice that she frowned upon during class, at least. But a flame-freezing charm sounded both fun and interesting, so she packed up quickly and followed the professor out the door, bringing her stuff along because she was unsure of whether they would be coming back before the end of the class.

Once again, Cutty found himself liking the way Cambridge regarded her world. And indeed a lot of what the other students had mentioned was quite stimulating. What he liked most were the discussions about the confessions. What was really going on there? The results of some sick system in which fear was a controlling factor. What must it have been like to have engineered one of those? A curious smile broaden onto his face as he considered this and his hand weaved a quill across his parchment.
OOh, a flame-freezing charm. How very useful. The kid got up from his desk stretched out, and gathered up his belongings to follow Professor McCormack and the other students out.

Notes were being taken, of course. Yeah. Because interesting discussion really was interesting, especially finding out some people's insights. And if they had to write an essay -- cringe -- on this, the boy wanted to make sure he knew enough.
... Practical?
... Oh. Right. The man had mentioned that there would be a practical portion to this lesson. ... Right? Alec was still confused about this but it wasn't going to stop him from packing up his things, which he went ahead to do. No more notes needed to be taken anyways. And he was excited to see what exactly this practical portion would consist of.
Once he was done, the boy got up and followed the man and the other students out of the door.

All Bart got out of those words those many many words was Sir Nick.. He knew that guy.. That's how he lost his head or well part of his head then, cool. He'd have to go find the ghost and tell him he was part of their lesson today. The ghost was nice and now that he knew he was part of the lesson Bart kind of wished he had listened better but only wished it a little and not enough to really listen to anymore.
So were they done yet? Lecture man was running thin on Bart's sitting still clock.
That's when he said the magic words and this professor got a grin and a maybe he isn't so horribly boring look. They were going to get to do a spell. The what charm? He hadn't really heard, because you know not listening. All he heard was outside and the boy was up with the nearly empty book bag over his shoulder.
Time for some fun!

This was not Tessa's favorite subject in the least- however, unlike most of the other schools she had been to, this Professor had been able to make the class more interesting than most she had attended. And... there was a practical part? She had to see this.
Slowly, she gathered her things, unsure why her hands and limbs weren't moving at their normal pace. In any case, she finally got ready and followed the rest of the class out.
Anything outside the classroom was bound to be fun.

As her classmates filed out the room, Sophie actually considered that option. No professor had ever just basically said, 'Class will continue, but you can leave if you want'. She kind of thought she should take him up on that offer.
But then...
What if the next half of the lesson was actually fun? What if she missed something really cool? Sophie couldn't just allow that to happen! Siiiigh. No free time for her. Like the rest of her classmates, Sophie filed out the room and followed the professor.

She wasn't expecting the turn around of the lesson. After all the talking and stuff, Bev concluded that's how the lesson was going to go down. Questions, discussions, not taking, repeat. When the professor mentioned Flame-Freezing Charm, her interest piked up again.
Mildly enthused, Bev put her things away and draped her messenger back over her head and shoulder, so that it hung diagonally across her torso. There. It was secure and she was ready to go.
The Forbidden Forest sounded interesting. Wonder why.

Ben could only listen to the discussions going on around him in answer to the professor's questions and taking notes on what might prove worth further time and attention. He himself couldn't even begin to think of what to add to what was being said. And then they were being told they would be moving. A field trip out onto the grounds so they could learn a spell that the professor apparently wanted to teach them in relation to what they had been speaking about.
A charms lesson in History of Magic class? Now that was an interesting turn of events the second year certainly wasn't expecting. Following the actions of his classmates, Benjamin packed up his belongings and got back up to his feet. No point in dilly dallying and being left behind the rest. So once he was sure he had everything that was his, his notes especially safe in his bag, he headed out of the classroom to head downstairs and outside.

Tag liked that he got some sort of recognition from the Professor. It didn't happen to much with him, at least on making good points, so he wasa. Bit surprised. Alec too, had gotten some recognition as well. Maybe the two were now sharing brainwaves or something.
Class field trip, to or near the forbidden forest! Oh, excellent. Danger. Lottie and Lex were here, right? They may just try to sneak into the forest while they have the chance. Anyway, grabbing his stuff Tag walked out the classroom and followed the Professor.

At the mention of a practical part to the lesson Ana was suddenly feeling much more awake. Sure she wasn't one of those people the Professor had been talking about. And even if she was it wasn't like her concentration was shot. Besides, Ana was sure that being outside would make her feel more awake as well. It definitely wouldn't do any harm.
Standing up slowly, back cracking as she did so Ana began to put all her things away in her bag before following the rest of the class outside. She was sure that this next part of the lesson would be interesting and she wasn't going to miss it.

Wow. Merlin. Professor McCormack was talking a lot? He somehow reminded Astrid of how much Professor Flamsteed explained and said too many things too but anyway, it was probably just a Professor thing to further explain things and make the point even clearer. That was a good thing though, right? At least they could all understand it even better. Astrid appreciated it. She was a fast learner when things were explained. Yeah. Okay.
So now they were supposed to move outside? YAY THAT WOULD BE AWESOME. Forbidden Forest? Uhm... okay. The name didn't sound so good, even if the thought of leaving the classroom for a couple of minutes sounded really cool. It was all the adventure! Astrid shoved all of her things into her bag and followed the others outside.
Today was an adventure and SHE was going to be the star adventurer. Yes.

Her notes were really messy since everyone was talking SO fast, and what with being a lefty and all... kinda hard not to smear the ink, you know? Alice wiped her wrist frantically on her robes as she scribbled, switching over to her right hand for a moment and trying to scrawl out legible words as she cleaned herself up. Merlin, there was a reason she wasn't ambide-
A practical portion? In History of Magic class? She was a bit skeptical, but curiosity got the best of her, as she didn't know that particular charm. Giving her wrist a final scrub, she rounded up her things and rose with the rest of the class to go play with fire.
Fun. This guy got more brownie points, mhm.
