| | Gryffindor Common Room graphics by sweetpinkpixie The official home of the Lions, the Gryffindor common room, is found on the seventh floor of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The entrance to the common room is the portrait of the delightful Fat Lady, and in order to gain entrance to their home away from home, Lions must know the password and speak it to her.
This terms password is ‘Humbugs’.
Be sure to remember those words...and keep it a close secret, for it's the current password you'll need to speak in order for the Fat Lady to swing away from the hole and allow you to enter Gryffindor Tower. Once you're lucky enough to scramble through, you'll find that the common room is a circular area full of squashy armchairs and tables. To the side of the common room you will find the study tables and bookshelves which are equipped with the resources and materials required to complete any homework assignments. Fixed to the wall by the windows you will find the noticeboard for classes and other school announcements.
A window looks out onto the grounds of the school, and a large fireplace takes up one side of the wall. It's the perfect place to relax and hang out after a long day of classes. If however you are in need of a nap a good night's rest then there are two doors leading off from the common room that open to spiral staircases. Boys dormitories are upstairs and to the right, while girls dormitories are upstairs and to the left. Be sure you don’t go breaking any of the rules by attempting to go up the wrong staircases. Boys don’t stand a chance of beating the enchanted staircase, and frankly girls should know better.
For whatever reason you're here, make sure you take good care of your home away from home. There's bound to be a perfect or your Head of House lurking in the shadows. |

He looked around before plopping into one of the armchairs. This wasn't bad. He could definitely get used to this. He closed his eyes and lounged. Too bad he didn't have a baseball cap right now. He'd pull that over his eyes and take a nap in a heartbeat.

She wanted to share.
And who better to share with than Mitchie?
Lana made her way over to him, her arms full of chocolate frogs. The climb onto his lap was awkward and silent, but once she was sitting on his legs she beamed at the boy. "Chocolate frog?" She asked by way of greeting.

"Hey Lawn Gnome." he greeted. And no, he didn't think it was weird. It seemed like something she'd do, so he was just going to go with it. "Sure. Thanks." That actually sounded pretty good right now.

Lana's beam became even more pronounced at the nickname. She handed Mitchell a chocolate frog and dumped the rest in her lap before taking one for herself.
She unwrapped it carefully, a look of concentration on her face as she did so. "So Mitchie, how are you liking Gryffindor? Isn't it great? I think it's just as great as I thought it would be. Maybe even better." She opened the candy wrapper and bit the head off her frog before looking at the card. "Dumbledore. Who've you got?"

Mitchell shifted slightly so he was able to open the chocolate frog presented to him. He held the package closed until the charmed frog stopped squirming. There. Now it was safe to eat.
He took a large bite. ... just in time to be asked a question. "Yeah. I like it. It's very... red." Which was enough of an adjective for him. "This chair is pretty comfy too." True story.
He bit more of the frog. "What were you excepting?" he asked. She seemed to have a lot of thoughts about Hogwarts. Must be something her older brother said.
He glanced at the package before pulling out a card. Were those always in there? He didn't notice before. Then again, this was only like his third one. "Um. Some dude named Cornelius." he said handing it over to her.

Besides classes that was and their schedules would arrive the next morning at breakfast.
At the questionposed himself, Ben was a tad confused. Bart said he was a second year yet asking about how the school was. Oh...he was a transfer. That was the only thing that made sense, not that it mattered much to him. "Nah...the quiet will only be temporary," he responded, thinking on his first year. Granted he had but one year to draw from in memory but that was enough when coupled with the occasional thing he might have overheard in the recollections of others. He glanced at the boy. Was he half asleep or something. Bart had just said water balloons and a dungeon and the boy seemed unimpressed. Maybe this dude wasn't a gryffindor after all. He thought they all liked excitement, but this one seemed a bit mellow. There were fun people around here he knew there had to be. He kicked his legs over the arm of the chair a bit. "Good.. I can't take this quiet nothing going on. If this is how the term is going to go I'm going to have to do some major planning." Possibly a trip the potions lab for fireworks. BIG Fireworks. It was time to bring some excitement here if this boy said it was quiet all the time, but he didn't so Bart would hold off on the firework making. He still needed to get to the lab to work with Luc on the age potion. "So I was thinking about brewing some potions do you know if we are allowed in the lab whenever or is there certain times to go?"

Not that she was sitting on the actual chair. She took another bite of her chocolate frog - a leg.
What was she expecting? She looked around at the room. "I was expecting lots of people. And lots of noise. And I was expecting someone to be asleep." She pointed to the couch. "Jake told me it's a very comfy couch to sleep on. But everyone's awake. Maybe they just don't know it yet." Which meant she was smart.
She took the card from him and looked it over. "I've got a few of him. You can keep it." She set it on his knee before continuing running her mouth. "I want a Helga Hufflepuff. Have you seen her? I've never seen her. I want to know what she looked like. I have a Godric Gryffindor. And a Rowena Ravenclaw! She was pretty." She was quiet for half a second. "I have a Harry Potter, too. I have a lot of him." She sighed. "But no Hufflepuff."

A curious eyebrow was raised at the mention of planning something should it remain too quiet for the other boy's liking. That certainly spoke of excitement at the hands of his new aquaintance. Not like it wasn't something Ben would mind...he could use some fun. The second year wasn't THAT boring. "Last term it was open during certain times, I think from after breakfast till sometime in the evening." The boy had to admit he hadn't spent THAT much time in the dungeon lab outside class. Potions was hard enough for him to begin with to try it on his own and he certainly hadn't been willing to deal with Lafay shoudl trouble ariseagain"But you might have to check to see if the new professor changed the rules."

way to go, Jeremiah. Mack had been rooted to her spot for quite some time, she didn't like showing her emotion, but today she couldn't help it. She had missed this place. When all of a sudden a boy ran into her "Ouch" the blonde mumbled. as the boy looked back at her.
She didn't like the look this boy gave her, did she have a third eye pop up on her face or something? She quickly wiped her eyes and walked towards the study tables... She wasn't sure what his deal was but it was.. She also didn't recognize him. So he was her year or younger maybe? Of course he could also be a transfer.. there seemed to be a lot of those on the train this year. She had been sitting trying to get a hold of herself and she turned to get a better look at this boy. Brown hair, normal build.. seriously Mackenzie pull yourself together. You need to focus on studies and quidditch. She had to make the team this year. Speaking of she still hadn't seen Lex or Alice since they arrived. Hmm...

His eyes glanced the the girl dorm entrance he had thoughts about pranking them, but he had to make sure the room wasn't charmed with alarms or something for boys to go near. Hmmm his mind went to these thoughts.
He listened about the potion lab so it was open for things other than classes. Good.. good he'd need to speak to Luc about times to go work on their potion. "Oh new professor. Hmmm" He wondered if they checked student records. Maybe the new guy wouldn't have the time to realize why he was kicked out of his old school. "Yeah I'll have to check with him or her." Which was it, did Ben know? "We have that class soon so maybe I'll ask about the lab then."

way to go, Jeremiah. After having organized her belongings back in the Girls dormitories, Silver decided to go down to the common and read a few Witches Seventeen Magazines.
While losing herself in the magazines she noticed a fellow lion seemed to have bumped into someone.
Uh-oh! "Are you okay?" Silver asked the boy. She'll give him ice or something, if he needed it.

He looked around. "Ah. Well. I was almost asleep." he said with a half smirk. "I'm sure it'll be worse when classes actually start and people are tired." he said. Or when winter happens. People were tired during winter. It was a proven fact. "What are they good for?" he asked looking at the card. Was he supposed to collect them or something? He bit more into his chocolate frog while examining it. Not as exciting as baseball cards. "I'll keep a look out for her then." He didn't comment on the rest of it. He really didn't know anything about British history.

"Perhaps..." he answered with a bemused look. Best not to look too anxious and over-eager. The second year briefly followed the other boy's gaze before looking back. "Have any thoughts?"
He took a moment thinking back to what he had seen of the staff table earlier. "Him....if the professors were seated in the right chairs at the feast." He had noted they were often in the same place when down for meals and had it pointed out to him that they each had their place alphabetically by the subject they taught. And there had been a man sitting next to the Muggle Studies professor in the spot designated for Potions.

When he looked back to the boy he noticed his eyes were at the girls dorm and then smiled as he questioned thoughts. Sitting up he moved a little closer not to be heard by others. "Well at my old school we duplicated my frog and put them in the girls bathroom. I was thinking we could do that here in the bathroom or in the girls dorm might be fun too." Thought some of the girls didn't seem as afraid of frogs like his old school. What else could they do.. He did have his levitating candy and girls liked candy, right? Maybe something with that, but that was to be for a professor so maybe not.
So he the potion master was a male, "Good maybe he'll be cooler than the one at my old school. So if you blow up a cauldron he won't get you kicked out." Girls and Women it seemed were so sensitive about messing up their labs, hair, and burning them a little bit geeze not the end of the world when you are just trying something. "Well I hope it is interesting. What's your favorite?" He flipped his feet over the side again getting comfy.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Robin Liu Second Year | After murmuring the password and nearly having a heart attack when it opened, Robin stumbled into the Gryffindor common room. This was her house for the next 7 years, her home basically. She looked around as the details of the room slowly sank into her head~ This was amazing! The chairs looked comfy enough to sleep in (which understandably she knew someone, if not herself, would be doing some time soon into the term)
and she had always loved fireplaces, the warmth was definitely a great way to relax and get all comfy, plus it was the perfect room to read or hang out! That is, if she got the courage to meet anyone in her house. A couple Ravenclaws had introduced themselves but it's not like they were allowed in.
With the voices of other students it wasn't quiet at all, thank goodness. If it was silent she probably would have turned right back around. Awkwardness and silence were the two worst combinations ever in her mind. She realized she was still standing in front of the entrance way and, not wanting to get in the way of oncoming students, moved to the side a little, suddenly nervous. She hadn't really met anyone and she searched hopefully through the crowd for a familiar, or at least friendly, face. |

Ben moved closer too as Bart closed the gap between them in an attempt to keep what was being said completely between them. There was no point in making it known before it was actually done. Listening to the ideas, both involving the girls in their house, he couldn't help but nod in understanding. Both were plausible the second year guessed though he supposed there were obstacles for either. "Dorms might be trickier." Bathrooms were more open, at least on lower levels. "Can't help you there." Ben had no clue as to what the new man could possibly be like, just as much as Bart himself had as a new student. Though even Lafay hadn't been that bad. She could do a lot to you that was harmful but she hadn't expelled anyone for blowing up a cauldron, at least to his knowledge. He was still there himself after all. As for favorite classes, there was no solid answer to give to his companion. "Don't really have a fav...yet. Charms and Herbology are cool...Muggle Studies can be fun."

| Hope you don't mind!
The common room was always a harrowing experience for Lucas, especially since it meant being forced into situations where you had to make friends. And he liked people, he did, but he always found himself so uncomfortable approaching people to make some sort of introduction. Digging his hands into his pockets, he mumbled 'humbug' to the portrait and shuffled into it, stopping to a halt when he saw a person blocking the entrance. Erm. Quote:

"Uhh excuse, um, sorry, excuse me? Could I just.." Lucas motioned vaguely, hoping it indicated he wanted to get past. A wave of nervousness overtook him however and he frowned. "Were you.. were you waiting for someone?" Oops!

He couldn't help the smirk that went across his face. The dorms might be trickier. Well my friend that just made him want to do it there even more. "Challenge excepted." His mind started working. How would he get up into the girls dorm. Was it protected by spell or something? He looked at the entrance. "What would happen if a boy stepped in there?"
So he'd have to find out about the potions stuff on his own. That was fine he would. There wasn't anything he was afraid of doing and professors surely didn't scare him. So once he saw the potions professor he would ask about the lab. "Well potions is usually my favorite, but I enjoy any class I don't have to read in. Made sure to keep runes off my schedule." He wasn't touching that subject at all. That took reading and effort and Bart wasn't taking up his time studying when there was things to do. More important things like fun.

Robin jumped when she heard a voice speaking behind her, realizing she had been blocking the way she quickly moved to the side and bowed her head apologetically. "So sorry! I didn't mean to block your way um.."
She realized the boy had asked if she was waiting for someone, and by the sound of it, he sounded as shy as she was. This made her feel immensely better because everyone around had seemed way more outgoing, which intimidated her a lot.She offered a smile at the fairly tall boy. She was going to make a friend out of him if it was the last thing she did. "No I'm not waiting for anyone, I don't really know anyone really I mean, ugh I'm talking too much let me start over, hi I'm Robin, what's your name?" Robin felt her face getting hot. She talked when she was nervous, it happened all the time when she met new people, and she had always thought it was a strange (and horrid, really) habit. Nontheless she offered a kind smile to the boy, hoping that at least one of them would feel comfortable. |

Well there was a phrase he wasn't used to hearing. "No, uh, it's like okay. It's totally okay," he stammered in reply. "Just uh..well, why were you standing in the door?" Because it was like a tiny crawl through space. There were even chairs and stuff. Specifically. Unless she was waiting for someone which she... wasn't. "Oh." She was new. Like super new. Like greeeeen. "You're a first year?" he asked, his tone conciliatory. "I remember what that was like. Well it's sort of still like." Lucas managed a sort of half shrug. It wasn't like it was exactly easy to make friends what with nerves and how big the place was. And how clique-y it was. Ughhhhh. Not his cup of tea. At all. "Mmh?" was his only reply to her spiel but she had supplied a name! And he realised, after a long beat that despite the fact that he'd missed what she'd said he could offer one too: "Lucas," the kid supplied, his cheeks colouring after the long pause. "Im, uh, Lucas." And then because this was getting really stilted, he coughed. "It's uh, nice to meet you?"

Robin looked down, embarrassed , now that she thought about it she must have looked positively ridiculous standing in the small space. "I was just getting used to the idea of being here I guess..um, magic and all.."She admitted, looking away embarrassed by how transparent her lack of understanding was about this place. She grimaced when he guessed her year. "It's pretty obvious huh? Well being a student is tough for everyone I guess... we'll both have to push through huh?" She murmured. Her eyes brightened when the boy introduced himself, noticing his cheeks coloured like hers, they were both uncomfortable, but still trying at least..She took it as a good sign."Hey Lucas it's, um, it's nice to meet you too!"
She mentally gave herself a pat on the back for finishing her sentence, and for making it this far in the conversation, if it was one yet. She decided to make it one, whether this boy wanted to or not."So what are your favorite subjects? Any teachers I should look out for?" |

She decided to make it one, whether this boy wanted to or not."So what are your favorite subjects? Any teachers I should look out for?" Lucas stared awkwardly at anywhere but the girl's face. He knew that if he focused in on the blushing he'd start stammering again and that was a social impairment he wanted to leave firmly in his first year. Erk. "Uh, look, it's super okay. Like super okay. I get a bit like that too. But uh, yeah. It's all good." And then he gave her a really lame thumbs up. Wow. He was just crumbling in the uncomfortable territory.
He realised that the assumption could've been interpreted as offensive and he grimaced, "no, uh, not really. You're just short." Oh. Well. That was also.. "not shortshort but just shorter than me. So I uh, guessed." Huh. Maybe the social impairment thing was actually going to haunt him forever.
But the girl was being super conciliatory considering he'd sort of just insulted her. "Yeah. And now we're not as much strangers as we were five minutes ago, so that's a good thing?"
Lucas actually managed a laugh when she said it was good to meet him. REALLY? "I really like Flying.." Sort of. When he wasn't thinking too much about it. "Oh.. I don't, uh, know? I think they're all really nice?" He pulled a thinking face and grinned after a moment, "What about you?"

Robin beamed at the thumbs up- it was something she did often and she thought it was funny that now she was the one receiving one instead of giving it. Lucas looked like he was trying very hard not to duck under a table or something which she understood. Social situations she actually was often outgoing but only on the outside, inside her stomach twisted into knots every time she opened her mouth, it was just the way she was.
She actually burst out laughing when he revealed his reason for guessing, she knew she was short but she had still jumped to the worst conclusion without even thinking. With a relieved chuckle she exclaimed. "No no it's really okay, I know I'm kinda short." she laughed "Sorry for that I tend to jump to the worst conclusions sometimes, now that I see everyone it is really easy to guess what year everyone is in" She said turning her head side to side and observing the students, turning back to Lucas delightedly she agreed whole heartedly- "Definitely a good thing- you're the first friend I've made in this house, so congrats for you!" She gave him a congratulatory pat on the shoulder, having to go on her tiptoes she laughed again "Yep, definitely short. So you like flying? Nice! I bet you're way better than I am, I had my first lesson and it did not go great" She shivered at the reminder of her quirky stops and starts, she had fallen too. In a very big and ego crushing way she might add. Probably not the sport for her. "I guess my favorite class so far is Herbology, and I'm really looking forward to studying Divination too but I don't know how good i'll be" She had met the professor who seemed nice, but she had heard from other students that either you got it or you don't. |

There was always the holding of breath while Lucas waited for the inevitable explosion of anger towards his insensitivity.
..
...
....
...but nothing came. Lucas tried not to be too obvious about letting out the breath he'd been holding. "It's also the age thing, too, uh, you look younger than me. A little." And logically, she could only be in the year below him. Logically. A seldom used component of his brain, clearly as he should have said that to start with. He grinned a bit as she explained the reaction, "I am?" The boy exclaimed in genuine surprise. "...you could probably do a lot better," he teased with a grin as she pat him.
Of course on the subject of flying, Lucas immediately became a lot more comfortable and thus animated. "Yeah!" But more so when he was at home, in the gardens behind his house. "Everyone here is much better than me, though," Lucas conceded with a nod. Everyone here was like PROFESSIONAL. And played on the house teams. The pressure, undoubtedly, would make Lucas choke. "It's the first lesson, though, if you've never played before.." and before he made any more incorrect assumptions, Lucas asked, "have you ever played before?" Better to be safe than sorry.
Ah. Plants. More importantly topiaries. Shaped like animals. That moved. "You liked the animal hedges?" Because huh, they were definitely weird. Each to their own though. "Oh Divination.." and at that, Lucas let out a little laugh. "Divination is one of those subjects I've heard people either love or hate. Like.. it's really strange how some leftover dregs of tea can tell you the future." But like.. cool too.
