That's right folks, come on in a Gobstones match between two of your favorite Hogwarts houses is taking place and you don't want to miss it or the prime seats up front! The room that plays host to the Gobstones matches has a few rows of raised seats along each of the long side walls, leaving plenty of room in the middle for the players to shoot for the Jack Stone.
Find a place to cheer on your house or whichever house you want to win because these players may not be brawny Quidditch jocks (or they might just be) but they still deserve the support!

First gobstones match of the season! She may not have been an advisor for the game any longer, but that didn't mean she didn't support or enjoy the sport any less! Sporting a flag for each house, the defense professor took her seat towards the, erm, back of the stands for now. It wasn't awkward or anything. Not really. Kinda. It was. Not that any of that mattered! Gobstones! Yaaaay!

Go Gryffindors! Go Ravenclaws! /flag wave
Leah did not really fancy Gobstones, but since she had nothing else to do that day she headed down to the Gobstones watching area to watch the game. Sophie might be participating too, she was a Ravenclaw.
There was only one person in the area, and it was an adult. A professor the first year had never met before. Freaking out a bit but deciding to say hello to her, Leah walked to the (enthusiastic) professor and took a seat awkwardly next to her. "Hello, professor. My name's Leah Abbott. I'm a first year." Polite introduction? Yes, she thought so. "Could I ask you what subject you teach? I'll be having your class soon, I think." A swift glance at the flags told the girl that the professor was supporting both houses. Maybe she should have prepared something like that too.

Bri didn't not know what kind of game Gobstones was, so she decided to go and watch the first match. When she made it to the area were the spectators sat, she saw there were two people sitting, the DADA professor, or at least that what she thought, and Leah!
She walked up to the two, and smiled at the them. "Hello professor, My name is Bri," The 1st year introduced herself before sitting down next to Leah. "Hello Leah! How are you?" The brunette asked brightly.
The 1st year blushed before asking, "Umm.... Can either of you please describe the game, before it starts? I have never played nor seen a game...." Bri trailed off

The flag waving slowed to a stop as the first year sat down next to her. New supporters! How wonderful! "Miss Abbott, it's vonderful to meet you." she smiled warmly to the youngster, spotting a girl just as equally young approaching. "Vhy of course. I teach defense against the dark arts. Not one you'll vont to miss."
Gaze flickering over to the second Puff, she gave the young girl a smile with the same warmth she'd given Leah. "Zradsti, Bri." Last name, she'd no doubt find on her roster for class, and she was very much content with letting the two students chat with one another, but the question... She hadn't very much interacted with the students during these matches much. An opportunity to do so was always well taken!
"It's quite similar to marbles actually, if, you've ever played it before." she spoke up, accent present as ever. "There are two players, one from each team if you haff one, who play per round of the match. Each side has a bag of gobstones, very similar to how a marble looks, the only difference is...vell, I vould not dare spoil the surprise." Chuckling softly, she continued. "There are a variety of gobstones games you can play, but today, they are playing a version called Jack Stone. This is vhere you try and roll your gobstone closest to the Jack Stone in the middle of the playing field. Whoever's stone ends up closest vins their team points, and whoever has the most points at the end of the match...vins!"
"Don't be fooled by most of these students playing though." Fiddling with her flags, she shook her head somewhat. "It's a lot harder to play than accidentally breaking your popsicle in half."

She was a little late, but she blamed having to walk across the grounds for that. It was hugely inconvenient. At any rate, Seren was here, in all her Ravendor glory. Though she was outwardly pro-Gryffindor now, a smallllllll part of her heart was still beating blue and bronze. You could take the Eagle away from the nest, but it wouldn't shed it's feathers and grow fur? ... Something like that.
Noticing there were others present, Seren didn't want to interrupt too much, because it was rude, but she did offer them a bright smile and a cheery wave before settling into a seat.

Ah, Gobstones. Tiara hadn't gone to a match last term, but she was determined to make it to one this term. So when she'd seen the notice, she made a note on her calendar. It was even that much better that she could be supporting her old house.
Dressed in navy blue robes for the occasion, Tiara shuffled into the stands. It appeared that Medea and Seren were here with some other students she recognized from the flying lesson. Seeing that Seren was by herself, Tiara chose to take a seat next to her. "Hello, Seren. I suppose we'll be supporting different teams?"

"Hello Tiara," Seren greeted, peering across at her colleague as she took the seat beside her. The navy blue robes were noted, definitely noted, but it didn't come as a surprise. Fellow former-Ravenclaw and all. Still, the colour red had grown on her, and so it's what she usually wore these days. "I suppose we are," she agreed with a smile before returning her attention to the players. "Eagles have a leg up already..." she didn't mind... much. But her Lions did need to get their act together. Where was their fighting spirit?! Where was the fire? The passion?!

He was running a bit late - something very uncharacteristic for the man with the sundial watch - and arrived at the Gobstones Viewing Area, sans his fish tank this time, just as Miss Edwards scored a point for Gryffindor. "WELL DONE MISS EDWARDS, WELL DONE!" he cheered while clapping loudly as he made his way towards Seren. She WAS the person to sit next to during these sorts of things, being the Gryffindor Head of House and all.
Tugging on his suit sleeve, he spotted Medea and resisted the urge to give her a wave. He did flash a smile in her direction though, but decided to just leave it at that for the time being since she was currently occupied with various students and did not want to interrupt. "Good day, ladies. Enjoying the match I hope," he greeted with a salute as he passed. So much for not interrupting.
Anyway.
Sitting down almost unannounced beside Seren, he gave the Quidditch Official a quick nod before it was all eyes on the Herbology professor. "How are they doing? I see Miss Edwards is proving to be a force to be reckoned with." At least as far as the last play was concerned.
He gave the area a look around for a certain young Ravenclaw. While the two of them would be cheering for opposites houses this particular match, he still wouldn't mind his Gobstones cheering partner to be around. "Haven't seen Miss Dawnsel around by change, have you?" That question was directed more to both professors than just Seren.

Seren was watching the match fairly intently, cheering a the appropriate times or otherwise sitting silently. "Roll 'em, roll 'em, roll 'em!" she cheered in intervals leading to the Lion's rolls. And success! Bravo Sarah! Bravo!
She was on her feet, applauding.

Bottom back in her seat, her head swiveled to see Airey had joined her. Thank Merlin! She needed another Lion in her camp. Not that Tiara's company wasn't appreciated, it was, but she was the enemy in all this. "Your timing was impeccable," she commented, "they're err.. warming into it." It just took them a little while to get to this stage. "Eagles came out firing, I hoping their losing momentum." That or you know, Gryffindor would GAIN momentum. Whichever came first.
As for the Dawnsel girl, Seren shrugged, "I've not seen her," she mused, eyes back on the match.

C'mooooooon Lions!
Hmm. Pity. Hopefully the young woman wasn't ill or anything.
"Warming into it you say?" he repeated with a quick glance around the viewing area. You know, Seren's cheer just now gave him idea. Reminded him of a true classic muggle American Western TV show and its theme song. Perfectly suited for gobstones cheering purposes. "Some more festive cheering ought to help heat things up," he grinned as he jumped to his feet and began to circle his arms around one another, bent at the elbows, to place further emphasis on the rolling aspect of the cheer.
"Rollin', rollin', rollin'
Keep those gobstones rollin'
Gryffindors are rollin'
Rollin', rollin', rollin'
JACK STOOOOOONE!"
Alright, so the ending needed a little bit of work. He glanced down at Seren expectantly. "Come on, professor, on your feet!"

It was times like these that Airey's presence was particularly appreciated, the man had a way with enthusiasm, and words. Granted, he was never subtle, and sometimes a bit too loud, but his erratic and cheerful manner was nice in this instance. "You know what... you're quite right," she concluded with a nod. She didn't require further coaxing, nope.
Yes.
FESTIVE cheering, was the order of the day.
Not even bothering to apologise to the Quidditch Official for what was about to go down, Seren too jumped to her feet and joined Airey in chorus.
"Rollin', rollin', rollin'
Keep those gobstones rollin'
Gryffindors are rollin'
Rollin', rollin', rollin' "
... she wasn't so enthused about the jackstone though.
"Put your backs into to it Lions!" ... no really, correct posture and arching whilst rolling was important, they needed to go that right to hone their chances, and to prevent injury.
Whether or not the cheering would serve to motivate as opposed to distract, was yet to be seen... but their intentions were good, and perhaps the lack of Ravenclaw cheers would demoralise the Eagles. Perhaps.

A leg up? More like five legs, I'd say. The score was quite lopsided despite the Lions' brief hot streak courtesy of Miss Edwards. "Let's hope this poor showing isn't indicative of the rest of the year for Gryffindor, especially in Quidditch." They red and gold had improved quite a large amount over the course of last season's matches, and she looked forward to seeing them give everyone a run for their Galleons again this term. "I think they stand a decent shot at the Cup this year, barring key injuries of course."

Ah, and there was Flamsteed. She politely returned his nod as he took his seat... and then left it again soon afterwards. Tiara was all for showing team spirit, but she was of the opinion that making a ruckus at a Gobstones match would hinder more than encourage. It was, after all, a game of concentration.
It took her a minute to remember the student to whom he was referring. "Miss Dawnsel? No, I haven't." Then again, she spent most of her time outside of the castle.
But back to the match. Sophie Brown was up. Rolling, rolling, rolling.... Aha, the Lions were covered with goo! "Well placed shot, Miss Brown!" she called after she was sure it would not impede her shot.

Oohhh yesss, quidditch. She'd done a bit of snooping and spying, and her Lions were rather fierce - of course, she could hardly expect any less with Captain Biter at the helm. Gryffindor were in a good position this year, it was pleasing. "Here's to hoping," was her modest response.
Apparently though, the cheering wasn't going to get them over the line this time round. Seren did notice though, that the Lions perked up a little bit, so she'd take it as a small victory. "We'll have to get on this early next time," she said, addressing Flamsteed. Because she was making this their thing now. Lion pride, cheering, support and all that jazz. It would happen. "But I must be off, things to do..." she mused, with a small and slightly dramatic wave of her hands. "I'll be seeing you two later," she offered by way of greeting.
Then flitting out of the viewing area, Seren made her way back to the greenhouses.

She smiled. Tiara understood that Seren didn't want to get her hopes up too much. But considering that her Lions were in second place overall in the House Cup race currently, Tiara had a feeling that the pride would be roaring this year.
"Excellent match, Ravenclaw!" the former Eagle congratulated the players. "I should get going as well, actually. It was nice sharing this match with you, Seren, Airey." Getting up, she followed Seren out and wended her way towards the Quidditch pitch.
So there was a Gobstones match going on. And Caelen wanted to see one. Even if her team wasn't actually playing. She wanted to find out what the game was actually all about. Because what if she wanted to play the game next year? Or at least learn how during the summer. Maybe it could be like the new chess? Or maybe she could throw the pieces at her friend and her brother. She could be really immature sometimes. No matter how much her mom wanted her to actually be mature.
And besides, she wanted to show her school spirit. Even if she was wearing a blue ribbon around her little pigtail braid things. What, she had to show house spirit somehow. That was really big here. And in her mind. And her brother sent her too many ribbons by owl and she needed to do something with all of them? You couldn't have 23 hair ribbons and not do anything with them, now could you? She had ribbons around her pen right now in order to use them up.
And she may or may not have her journal in her bag to write a letter about this. Didn't her brother say that she needed to get a piece of EVERYTHING about Hogwarts? Well sports were a piece of Hogwarts. A big piece of Hogwarts. Plus, Ravenclaw would have to play against them eventually. And she wanted to see the stepping stones towards that moment. Because life was better in story form. You couldn't just see half of a season, could you? Wait, did Gobstones HAVE seasons? How did that work? More research was needed.
But what team would she be rooting for? Booooth. Slythergriff? She'd work on creative naming later. And hey, this WAS a break from studying, wasn't it? Which was always fun anyhow.
