Default Defense Against the Dark Arts Lesson 1

Morning sunlight shined through the open arena windows onto the shiny stone floors and walls, but despite the chilly winter air having full access into the large room, it was relatively warm inside. In fact, the whole atmosphere felt...warm. Flickers of dust and particles could be seen floating through the shafts of light, almost with a glow. Almost enchanting. The ground seemed particularly shiny even, and may have been a tad slippery. Watch your footing! Even the bleak color of the arena had a certain lively factor to it. Or it could have just looked like the same boring arena, depending on one's opinion. The mats and desks were not present this time around, giving the room a more open feeling, though the Professor was still at the front of what would have been the class set up, a merry smile upon her face and waiting for the students arrive.

OOC: Class has begun! If you're just joining us, please don't post arriving late. Pretend as if your student has been in the lesson the entire.

SUMMER FOREVER

Defence Against The Dark Arts.

Delilah loved this subject. Not as much as she loved Charms but yeah. It was still one of her favourite subjects and she was totally looking forward to this lesson. She entered the classroom, feeling rather bright and cheerful.

"Morning, professor!" She chirped, giving the professor a grin too. See, GOOD MOOD. The Hufflepuff joined the rest of the class and somehow ended up standing next to the Slytherin student leader. His name was West, yeah? She smiled at him before dropping her bag on the floor and turned to face the front of the class.

Slow and steady may win the race but slow and steady wasn't going to get him to Defence Against the Dark Arts any sooner. And he would have tried to quicken his walking pace but everytime he tried, the shooting pain in his lower back would return. Every. Time. ... Not fair. He had Quidditch coming u--

Alec had questions. Naturally.

Having finally huffed and puffed his way over towards the door of the Defence Against the Dark Arts, classroom, the seventh year stood by the door and looked inside, a confused expression spread across his face. This was the right classroom, right? He hadn't somehow ended up in another classroom by mistake? A peek inside and over at Romanos told him no.

... Right. Okay. He... was just going to head inside. Slowly. "Hello, Professor!" he called, smiling over at her and giving her a small wave. And he was going to stand here, inside the classroom, yeah? Just stand. Not move too much. Should he ask about the lack of mats? Did that mean no yoga today? ... Which, thinking about it, was both a shame and a great thing. A shame because the eighteen year old could really use some sitting down time and a good thing because... did you know how many stretches you needed to do for yoga? His back wasn't up for it.

Defense Against The Dark Arts.

Messer always looking forward to this lesson but today he was not. His hair turned grey. He had wrinkles. He was not happy with that. And not just that, it seem he was moving slower than usual, his legs were not being very cooperative with him today. The DADA classroom was in the first floor, its not that far from his common room compare to where the Divination classroom was but why he felt like he just came back from a marathon?

When he entered the classroom, the Seventh year was a bit relieved that he didn't see the usual mats. He just couldn't handle doing Yoga or any form of sport today. "Hello, Professor. How are you today?" He hoped that the DADA Professor feeling better than him.

Tessa walked into class, practically bouncing she was so excited. Gone was the worry about her greying hair or slowed reflexes- for the moment. Most of her worries were put aside- until she reached the door. She saw other students entering and sliding all over the quite shiny floor. Okay, caution it was.

She slowly made her way across the room, stepping carefully and solidly, even taking small steps like she would on ice.

"Hello Professor," she said with a smile. "Change the floor treatment?" she asked, with a soft laugh to herself. Glancing around, she saw Sander and Lux had already arrived, so she went over to join them- shooting them both grins.

He found the room and that's all that mattered. Lips slightly curved with the hint of a smile on his face, the Gryffindor walked into the warmly-lit room and--

SLIP!
... ALMOST. He almost slipped. One foot on the slippery floor of the room and the other still out in the corridor, Louis froze in the doorway when he felt himself just sliiiding right in. Why was the floor slippery?! Very cautiously, he brought his other foot and the rest of himself inside.

Perhaps the first dark art they'd be defending themselves from would be slippery floors?

With curious blue eyes, Louis looked around the open arena. It was oddly comforting. But he appreciated it, since he'd been a little nervous about his first Defense Against the Dark Arts lesson. "Good morning, Professor," greeted the boy as he neared the front of the room, where the professor and most students stood. The Gryffindor looked around at all the unfamiliar faces without paying much attention, but something then jumped at him -- was that grey hair on some of their heads? ... What? Okay, he obviously needed to get out of the common room more. A whole new fashion trend had started and it went right past him.

Bay was following a few other students in when he noticed another Gryffindor that he has seen at their table in the great hall almost slip. Bay moved as fast as he could because the floor was all wet. "Heyyy… careful now" he said while walking slowly with the other boy. "Im Bay" he said while looking around the room.. where was everything? the room seemed mighty empty.

While passing the professor he said his hello. "Good morning Professor" … so this other guy here seemed to very quite? hmm maybe he should talk to him more "so how are your classes doing?" he asked.

Defense Against the Dark Arts....

This was one of the classes Kace was interested in. He was excited to be learning something new. When he approached the classroom, he realized that there wasn't any matts for yoga. That was a relief because Kace didn't really want to do it today. He then saw the professor near the front of the room. "Hello Professor! How was your summer?"

Then he waited patiently and wondered what they could be learning.

Alex was excited as she arrived for Defense Against the Dark Arts class. It was her favorite class and she couldn't wait to see what the Professor had planned for them today. Despite the fact that she had noticed quite a bit more gray hair on her head this morning, Alex was determined that this was going to be a good day.

Once inside the room, Alex spotted the Professor and said, "Good Morning Professor" She then glanced around, searching for a seat. Seeing Sander, Tessa and Lux, she made her way over to grab a seat near them. Giving a wave to all, Alex proceeded to sit down.

Sarah was eager for this lesson to be begin... and the absence of the yoga mats was even better. It was nice and open in here...
Sarah smiled at the professor, " hello professor - had a great summer?" she asked.
She gave a wave at the other pupils before taking her seat and opening her book. She was ready for her sixth year of DADA

Louis had been staring at the back of someone’s grey head when he suddenly heard someone introducing themselves to what could only be him. A bit startled, he turned around to face the newcomer who had just identified himself as ‘Bay’. Ah. Louis recognized that face. He had never spoken with the boy before, but he’d seen him around the Gryffindor Common Room. “Nice to meet you,” the fifth year replied politely. Here was his first chance at making friends with a fellow Gryffindor, he’d better play nice. Well, Louis was nice by default anyway. “I’m Louis Bolton. I think I’ve seen you around… Gryffindor too, right?”

Then Bay was asking him about his classes.
“Pretty good I’d say,” Louis responded with a nod. “But not so much Ancient Runes. I’ve always been rubbish with Runology,” he confessed with a soft chuckle.

Bri walked into the class, she was getting used to the layout of the castle. She was curious about this class. She didn't see any desks, interesting. She smiled at the professor. "Hello Professor! My Name is Bri Granger" The young girl introduced herself before finding a spot to stand.

curly haired prefect - "sometimes I get angry!" - 30/90 - *chicken emoji* - probably @ Disney - I speak dog

Caleb didn't know why he was getting so much facial hair lately, but he wasn't exactly complaining. What he WAS complaining about though was the fact that it was coming in not dark brown like his normal hair, but PEPPERED. Like dark brown and GRAY. That wasn't supposed to happen, was it? He was on gray alert in his own hair now and made a mental note to do some research later. Was it normal to start going gray this young? Or just go gray with your whiskers? Until he figured it out, he'd started shaving. He was such a man now!

"Hello Professor!" he said with a smile as he took his seat. He ran a hand over his face and felt the stubble that was already appearing despite shaving this morning. Ugh. So annoying! Damn you, puberty!

Louis decided he liked this Bay character. Fellow Gryffindor and also a victim of runic scriptures? What was there not to like?

As Bay suggested they move aside, the dark-haired boy nodded his head in agreement and walked with him toward the left-side of the room, where the other Gryffindor boy had been pointing to earlier. Louis took a second glance at the other students and turned back to Bay with furrowed brows, "Hey, would you happen to know about that... new trend?" he asked, looking puzzled. "The one with the grey hair that everyone's wearing, I mean."

So Asher was pretty much excited about this dada class mostly because he had not had a lesson in this subject since the last time he was here. So he knew that he would have to brush up on his defensive skills.

This morning has been super fun getting ready in fact. The seventeen year old had to shave this morning. He had been doing a lot of shaving his face lately. Like every other day? Was that normal for a man boy of his age to be doing that? He wasn't sure.

As the Slytherin walked into the classroom. He nodded to the professor and said "good morning, Professor!" And smiled before he when to find a place to stand.

No mats or desks? That should be a good sign they would be doing a lot of moving around for this lesson, right? Not just answering questions and such? Good. Maybe this lesson would be fun then.

Whoaaa, a bit slippery though. Penelope lost her footing for a moment when she entered, not expecting the floor to be so slippery, but managed to catch herself before she actually fell to the ground. Phew. After straightening up and pausing for just a moment to make sure she had her balance, she moved in a bit more. "Hi Professor," she said with a nod to Romanos. And then just stayed where she was. Yeah, this was a good place to stand for now. No need to move too much yet.

Bay lowered his voice to a whisper because he didn't want to get into trouble with the professor.. while they walked to the side of the room Bay had to sneeze. He stopped.

"Ahhhhh…..AHHHHHHHH……CHOOOOOOOOO" he said quite loudly but quickly added a "excuse me" He instantly started to feel nervous. he whispered over to Louis.. "hey man…. do I have like boogies in my nose now?" He didn't want to go through the whole class with a bat in the cave.

Wait what… people were doing what to their hair? "Errrrrrr noooo… Seriously grey hair?? why would anyone do that?" he asked while fixing his own hair automatically.

She was a little later arriving for class than she'd normally be, all because of that stupid knee, still paining her day and night. Along with the aching feeling that never relented, the joint issue slowed Alice down a bit. Which meant she was one of the few students who hadn't gotten a good standing spot.

Weaving her way through the other students and up to the front wasn't an option on this slippery floor, so the seventh year was stuck at the back like a latecomer always was. Couldn't see anything properly from here, either. Why was everyone in Hogwarts so tall?

There was a little bit of Romanos' head she spotted, though. Hi professor.

Once the greeting was out of the way he found his place, but there was no desks so should he just stand? She made sure the older girl was able to stand up without help and also offered a hand for the young boy. Because y'know, the girl had just fallen too, so maybe she needed a hand helping the boy up? Oh, and she was already talking to Alexa. Wha? Okay then.

It was too early in the morning and Sophie's brain was acting a bit slooowwww...
Oh...oh my...that indeed was a beard.

Wasn't the lad a second year? Was this the result of another Arithmancy lesson?

"Good morning, Mister-" OH MY! Just one after the other, the students slid...like dominos. "O. boʐye! Mister Maroon! Miss...Paulidine, goodness gracious. Are you two alright?" She could've sworn she saw the young boy hit his head, though hoping to Merlin it was just a trick of light. The floor wasn't THAT slippery was it?

Taking notice of Sophie's helpful hand, Medea smiled to the girl as she moved around and tested the floor near the front of their makeshift 'classroom', looking for the particularly slippery spots that needed evening out.

Walking into the room Ana almost burst into tears of frustration and pain. There were no chairs. She was apparently expected to stand up for the whole lesson! She definitely regretted her decision to attend class now, unfortunately she'd already entered the room and knew she wouldn't be able to leave now.

"Hello Professor," Ana said politely as she chose a place to stand. She dropped her bag down in front of her and proceeded to put the majority of her weight on her right foot. It helped but it wasn't going to relieve the pain completely. Ana just hoped that the lesson didn't last overly long.
"Good morning, Miss Konstantinova." Medea smiled towards the fifth year, continuing to slide her feet across the floor, looking for the extra slippery parts. Like........right there. Eh. Could've sworn she'd gotten all of them.

Spell work made her nervous still, since she had not had much chance to use it practically. While she had been taught at home, it had been focused on the theory, and had not gone into much depth.

Stepping inside the classroom, she looked around and saw that the room was HUUUUGE. "Morning, Professor! I'm Lux." Why was this floor slippery?"
Oh good, yes, another youngster joining her lesson. Not that the older students weren't welcome, though they usually came with grumpy expressions and an air of not wanting to be there. "Dobro outro, Miss...Carrington." There was indeed a Lux Carrington on her roster if she wasn't mistaken. "Be careful of the floor, molia. There are a few sections that are a bit too slippery."

Aw third years. The mid section between the grumpy students and enthusiastic youngsters. "Hello, Mister Toussaint." she smiled warmly at the Gryffindor, evening out a particularly slippery section upon the floor.

Sander immediately twisted around and grabbed hold of that same post again. He stood there for a moment afraid to move another foot.

As he stood there, he breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that class hadn't started yet. He hated being late for class but lately, he had to spend more time, trimming his nose and ear hairs, shaving off the beard which was now growing faster overnight than it had done before. Then of course he had to moisturize his hands and face. His skin on his hands was becoming more wrinkled each day and just the other day he actually found crows feet near his eyes.

But he was here now. He looked down at the ground and noticed that it looked slick like it was wet or super glossy. Reluctant to loosen his grip on the post, but knowing that he had to, he released his hold around the post. Sander placed one foot in front of the other, carefully tip toeing his way across the room, as he made his way to the Professor who was standing up in front of the class.

'Now why couldn't she have been standing at the entrance?Sander grumpily thought to himself even as he approached her. As he neared her, his grumpiness disappeared and he genuinely smiled at the Professor.

"Good morning, Professor. It is good to see you again. I would like to thank you for giving me permission to duel in the arena. It was really good experience for me." Sander nodded his thanks.
...

She was not an old Professor, and even if she was, who would have been oblivious to that display of...well, that display? "Dobro outro, Mister Strand." she nodded towards the Seventh year, moving past him towards the entrance doors as if her shoes were immune to the floor's slipperiness. Apparently it was TOO slippery over there. "Oh, you are more than velcome to use the arena for dueling, though do be careful, yes?"

In her opinion, that meant there should be dueling or at least some cool defense spells to learn. Knowing that there was also the chance they’d be doing yoga didn’t even dim her opinion of what should happen. Except, the really shiny floor was what had piqued her curiosity. Not the lack of desks, chairs or even yoga mats. The warm classroom and the shiny floor, along with almost sparkly air that made her want to just stick her hand out in front of herself to see if it took on that quality too. The plus side was that her boots had enough traction that she didn’t slip as she’d continued into the classroom. Otherwise she almost certainly would have fallen, since she was much too distracted to pay attention to where she was walking.

She was paying enough attention that she didn’t run into anyone, however. That and she had definitely noticed the boy on the floor moaning about his head, and how oddly Ana was standing. Things were definitely weird, but she chose not to question it. There could have been logical explanations as well, and she wasn’t entirely sure the redhead would have wanted her concern anyhow. She still sent her a smile, though, along with Lux as she passed the second year on her way to an open spot in the room. “Good morning Professor Romanos,” she greeted the professor with another smile, as she’d let her bag drop to the shiny floor at her feet and brought her attention to the front of the classroom. Hopefully they’d get an explanation for everything soon enough.
Fixing the slipperiness near the entrance doors, she smiled towards the sixth year. "Good morning, Miss Andrews." Some nice good shoes on, that one.

See? SEE? No enthusiasm in the older students whatsoever. Though that familiar look upon West's face was not due to being an older student. Having had quite a bit of time to become accustomed to that look, she knew where it was from. "No smiles today, Mister Odessa?"

Should she take off her shoes? Maybe she would wait on that until the professor gave instructions. It didn't look like other people were taking off their shoes. Gwen was nothing if not a follower.
.......oh?

This was seriously the first student she saw who sat down, not due to slipping upon the floor either. Though, upon seeing the Ravenclaw robes the girl was wearing, Medea smiled. The house already perfectly matched the youngster.

So, as slowly as she possibly could, which was pretty darn slow, in her opinion, she made her way into the room, doing her very best to avoid every single floating particle thing that came in her way. "Hi, Professor." Rhodes continued on her very slow journey into the classroom and found a spot to stand near a smallish Ravenclaw girl (Gwenhwyfar). If those germ things came close to her, she would just use the girl as a shield.
Should....she say something? She should say something.

Or just watch.

The base of his back hurt. This did absolutely nothing to improve his grumpy mood. Adi peered up at Sander. "Hello. You look extra tall today,'' he said mildly.
Alright, seriously. She could've sworn she hadn't made the floor THAT slippery. Although, now that she thought about it, her shoes were of a different make. Probably had a little more traction than the students'. "Goodness. Careful, Mister Rehman. Are you alright?"

She went over to join Lily and smiled at her friend. "Hi."
She'd almost missed the sixth year's greeting, having been focused solely on the two Hufflepuffs who joined them previously, though her gaze snapped to the Slytherin as she...almost slipped. "Oh, good morning Miss...Emerson." Oh yes, there was an Astrid Emerson on her roster.

Okay, Zen and maybe some Yoga would help.

A whole new fashion trend had started and it went right past him.
.......

.................

Didn't she just fix the entrance area?

Squinting at the floor, the Professor headed over to re-fix it. Or at least the area she apparently missed. The floor needed to be slippery, but not THAT slippery. "Dobro outro, Mister Bolton." she smiled to the Gryffindor, searching for those particularly slippery places by sliding her feet across the floor.

With a final glance to her watch, Medea looked up and started to wave her wand at the double doors to close them. Though suddenly stopped, due to an almost latecomer. Alright. Was that all of them? Waiting a few more seconds for any possible last students to round the corner, she waved her wand...and the doors creaked shut.

Okay then. Taking a deep breath, she moved back to her position at the front of the class...before moving to the third row of seats upon the stands so she could see everyone. What was there, one student who was sitting? With a slippery floor like they had, you'd think they'd sit. "You may sit down, you know." she smiled in amusement, giving them a verbal nudge. Yes, sit. You all looked like death. Most...anyways.

"Before ve begin..." Taking her own seat upon the stands, she crossed a leg over the other and continued. "Does anyone vont to tell me vot's up? Vos there a party last night or something? Or is this some unusual assignment you've received?"

What was with all the ancient looking souls, HUH?

Vesper wasn't in a hurry today...but unlike other days when it was difficult to drag herself to lessons because of depression, she was actually in a fantastically great mood. She'd worked out an intricate piece to this new composition she'd been working on...and also, sleep had happened. Probably because her brain had been able to relax after piano and composition stuff. It was hard to get her brain to stop when it had too much going on...Like jumbled ideas and pieces and snippets of music that she just couldn't string together.

...But, yea...Ves was taking her time with walking down to Defense Against the Dark Arts. Why not, right? She'd worked out exactly how much time she had (on standard) to get to certain lessons from her dorm...and since she hadn't dropped Defense, she knew she had time to walk slowly.

When she arrived, everyone was standing around and waiting. From what she could see, there were no desks...or mats this time. Yet, Professor Romanos stood at the front, beaming at them. Vesper liked this professor. She was always so pleasant...and the yoga wasn't too bad, either. Marcus made them do some of the same moves and techniques for quidditch reasons.

Pausing at the back of the group, the Ravenclaw just so happened to look to her left...and she'd immediately wished she hadn't.

Oh, look. It's an Alice.

Quickly turning her attention to some other point in the room...mainly so she wasn't giving disgusted looks (something she was doing when she hadn't even realized it lately)...Ves settled on looking at the floor....that was terribly shiny for some reason.

Heh, weird...

Then they were starting...Taking a seat, she kept her eyes on the floor, still not bothering to look at the Gryffindor Captain. She hadn't partied the night before, no. She'd actually slept...So, instead of offering an answer to the professor's question, Vesper remained silent. Mhm.

Yeah because he was going to smile about another lesson where he didn't learn how to NOT DIE? yeah? He just shrugged. And then that question... what was she saying exactly? He was fine. Nothing wrong with him whatsoever.

He was in enough of a mood about the class that he didn't really care to notice the various ailments of his graying classmates. Because who cared; they were all going to get soul sucked by dementors anyway due to the rubbish Yoga-focused lessons that weren't defense against anything at ALL not preparing them appropriately?

Ancient looking souls? Did that mean they all looked tired, or unhappy or... maybe it was good? Mo's aunt liked to tell him that he had an old soul, and she made it sound happy. Mo bumped Ves on the back of the head as he shifted to get out of Alice's line of sight.

"End of Quidditch tryouts, Professor. That's why I look like a Muggle bus ran over me, at least." Or that was his theory, considering the constant aching in his knees.

It was clearly not of her usual golden blonde, and instead a rather dull shade of grey. And she hadn't dyed it. He rubbed the stubble on his chin, a frown etched between his eyebrows.

"So, to check I've got this, you definitely didn't do that to yourself?" He shook his head. "You shouldn't stress about your OWLs so much," he said after a while. "I mean, I know you're a Prefect and everything, but I managed okay." And no grey hairs here, see? "I'll help you study if you want. Help make up for..." well, whatever had caused him to get his hand swatted. "I've got that candy still too."
Okay, see. he thought it was strange which should have been reason enough for him not suggesting or saying anything. Her hair was becoming a major problem for her and it didn't help that Jun saw wrinkles on her forehead. She hadn't stopped rubbing all those anti-wrinkle creams she begged her father for. This...whatever this was, would NOT get the better of her.

It sounded like Benjy was finally getting the big idea and the Gryffindor gave a firm nod. "Not my doing." hvskafjvsi he thought it was the stress of OWLs too!! See that?? SEE THAT?? "They should just cancel the exams this year and be done with it. This," she pointed to her hair, "can't be healthy, it can't and I'd rather have my hair be normal again." Lottie already told her the hair wouldn't be enough to get her out of studying. She was in a fix. "Thanks. I'll take all the help I can get."

And there she went. Blah blah blah, ugh, Lex didn't care about the classroom or the people anymore. It was her hair. Alexa wasn't one to fixate about her hair, anyone who saw her could tell that but this was different. It was about the colour and the fact that it was changing when she wished it wouldn't. "Yeah, s'okay, not your fault." Lex said with a small shrug when she apologized. Merlin knew who's fault it was. "And I know who you are." Because she did. Lex didn't have a shoddy memory thanks.

"Good morning, Miss Konstantinova." Medea smiled towards the fifth year, continuing to slide her feet across the floor, looking for the extra slippery parts. Like........right there. Eh. Could've sworn she'd gotten all of them.

"Hello, Mister Toussaint." she smiled warmly at the Gryffindor, evening out a particularly slippery section upon the floor.

"No smiles today, Mister Odessa?"

.......oh?

This was seriously the first student she saw who sat down, not due to slipping upon the floor either. Though, upon seeing the Ravenclaw robes the girl was wearing, Medea smiled. The house already perfectly matched the youngster.

Should....she say something? She should say something.

Or just watch.

"Zradsti, Miss Merivel." she greeted the third year as she passed by. Slowly. So slowly.

Robbed? Her? Them?

As serious of a topic that was, Medea couldn't help but chuckle. Goodness gracious, grey hairs from stress...from being robbed? Oh, children didn't get grey hairs. "Miss Cambridge..." Hold the snidget. The fifth's year hair DID kinda look different. Must've been the light though. Must've been. "No, ve didn't get robbed."

Alright, seriously. She could've sworn she hadn't made the floor THAT slippery. Although, now that she thought about it, her shoes were of a different make. Probably had a little more traction than the students'. "Goodness. Careful, Mister Rehman. Are you alright?"

Was it just her or were the older students reeeeaaally laying on the grumpy mood this morning? Was there some party last night and now they were just tired? "Good morning, Miss Lockwood." she nodded towards the Slytherin. Staring. Watching. Squinting. Thinking. COMING TO CONCLUSIONS.

Goodness, a lot of these kids looked worse for wear today. Though it just seemed over the top to her that someone even brought a cane in. Really, what in Merlin's beard was going on? They were acting like old people! Was it an assignment? It was an assignment wasn't it...

Muggle studies maybe?

Potions?

She'd almost missed the sixth year's greeting, having been focused solely on the two Hufflepuffs who joined them previously, though her gaze snapped to the Slytherin as she...almost slipped. "Oh, good morning Miss...Emerson." Oh yes, there was an Astrid Emerson on her roster.

Giving a slight nod to the two quiet Ravenclaws who'd arrived, she was a bit too distracted to mind the lack of greeting from the both of them, eyeing those students whom looked more like they should be at the healer's office than here. If it wasn't an assignment, then there was some virus going on. Surely. Winter weather was a terrible pain at times with colds and flus.

.......

.................

"Helloooooo, Mister Radley." she greeted warmly, somewhat distracted with pointing her wand at the floor and muttering something under her breath. That...should fix it. STAY! FLOOR! Stay.

"Good...morning..." Did her ears decieve her? Glancing up from her task, she watched the Hufflepuff join the rest of the class. Good Merlin, was there really a happy older student in her lesson today? Shrugging to herself, she rubbed her ear and went back to making the floor a little less slippery. How 'bout that.

Oh, goodness, Merlin. Her faith that a few happy students would show up was returning. "Good morning, Mister Summers!" she smiled back at the boy. Well, no. Not boy. Young man. "Or should I say, Head Boy. Congratulations."

If one more student came in here looking like a tired sloth, she was going to turn her lesson into an outdoor marathon. Or she'd think about it at least. "Helloooooo, Mister Messer. Better than most of your classmates, I can confidently say." she chuckled lightly. Really. They looked awful.

The more smiles there were, the merrier the class would be. "You could say that." she laughed, glancing to the shiny floors. As far as she knew though, most of the super slippery parts were fixed so...no more super sliding, right?

"Good day, Mister Bay." she greeted the fifth year in her usual warm and welcoming manner.

"Good mooorning, Mister Lecium." she said with a tad song like nature, smiling towards the Hufflepuff. "My summer vos very nice, thank you. I do hope yours was a memorable one."

This was the first student where she'd actually noticed the contrast in hair color. Suddenly reminded of Alexa's comments about recieving grey hairs because of stress, Medea absentmindedly raised an eyebrow. Were NEWTS really this stressful nowawadays? "Dobro outro, Miss Delaine."

"Good day, Miss Edwards." she smiled. "Oh, it vos excellent, yes. I hope yours vos as vell?"

It was always lovely to see the youngsters make it to lessons on time. The castle was rather large, and so very many places one could get lost. "Good morning, Miss Granger." she smiled and nodded to the Hufflepuff first year.

Oh yes, the Gryffindor with the unusual yet splendid name. "Godo morning, Miss Goldman." Christmas Goldman. How wonderful was that? "It vos lovely, thank you. I hope yours vos a memorable one."

This wasn't another young student already receiving facial whiskers, was it? It was just the light, right? These students were growing up waaaay too fast! SHE REMEMBERED AS JUST BABIES! Sorta. First years. Close enough. "Good morning, Mister Newell." she smiled towards the youngster.

More smiley students. The more the merrier! "Hello, Mister Romalotti." she smiled in return at the boy, before taking a glance at her watch. Her newly charmed watch, that is. Told the time perfectly and wasn't all...not perfect...anymore. Oh my, it was getting very close to class starting.

"Hello, Miss Greenwell." she nodded to the Gryffindor, noting the lack of falling to the floor. GOOD.

The chuckling made her think just maybe the Professor wasn't actually taking her seriously and truthfully...that annoyed her more than the slippery floor and the missing furniture. This was serious business!!! HER HAIR was going GREY. Before you knew it it would be white. Given the original colour she was surprized it didn't just skip ahead to white. Ughhhh.

Oh but then it looked like the woman finally noticed half her head was covered in grey hair. Finally. "Good to know." She said, taking a seat on the floor after much laboured moving and trying not to work out her back too much. It was feeling a lot tighter than she remembered and she was praying whatever happened to Professor Airey wouldn't get to her. No big back cracking pain please.

Ow...ow...ow...Ahhhh. Okay. Seated.

Lex raised her hand, not knowing about anyone else but herself in all this. "I'm getting grey hairs Professor, I've tried dying it blonde again and had Lottie try with magic but it just went right back and keeps spreading. If this is an assignment, I haven't been told about it and would like some extra credit for being an involuntary test subject. I take all rewards in candy where possible." And a solemn nod. It wasn't Romanos' doing but she hung out in the staffroom. Surely she'd pass along the message. "And in future, can I suggest no assignments that give me joint stiffness and wrinkles? Please? Daddy's starting to wonder what I'm doing with all the wrinkle cream." Keeping wrinkles under control obviously. No way was she walking around with less than perfect skin and that coming from Alexa was saying A LOT.

Dora wasn't attending this lesson for the lesson so much as she was for the people and observing. But she WAS getting so much better at coming to these things. Good prefect and all.

Ahem.

She had a spot behind Slytherins cause they were interesting to watch and all, but she was also paying attention to the lesson. Except not really.
