Morning sunlight shined through the open arena windows onto the shiny stone floors and walls, but despite the chilly winter air having full access into the large room, it was relatively warm inside. In fact, the whole atmosphere felt...warm. Flickers of dust and particles could be seen floating through the shafts of light, almost with a glow. Almost enchanting. The ground seemed particularly shiny even, and may have been a tad slippery. Watch your footing! Even the bleak color of the arena had a certain lively factor to it. Or it could have just looked like the same boring arena, depending on one's opinion. The mats and desks were not present this time around, giving the room a more open feeling, though the Professor was still at the front of what would have been the class set up, a merry smile upon her face and waiting for the students arrive.
OOC: Class has begun! If you're just joining us, please don't post arriving late. Pretend as if your student has been in the lesson the entire.
.... A spell for RUNNING AWAY? How was that a good way to defend yourself? Meh. This class just kept getting worse. Delilah sighed. She might as well go ahead with the practicing the spell, yeah? At least, she'd be learning something new. It was better way to look at the situation.
"Henshu. Henshu. Henshu." Delilah repeated it a few times, making sure she got the pronounciation right. Now, moving on to the wand movement. Twist and horizontal flick. Yeah. She practiced it a couple more times and nodded to herself.
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
With one shoe operational in the better grip for running thing it was time to get the next. Surely grip wouldn't be the only thing saving you in situations but it did help some. Imagine casting but slipping while you do and missing. Missing was the difference between living and dying. This was why she was so happy her aim was that good. Hardly ever missed. This no slipping would increase that.
Alexa stuck out her left foot, feeling some amount of protest in her knees. Merlin, joints that weren't stiff, they helped with running too. Definitely.
"Henshu!"Twist and horizontal flick.
How did her shoes feel now against the floor you may ask. The exact same...as each other, which meant the spell probably worked just fine. Either that of the other one had worn off because of poor casting? PFFFT, she'd go with the first thank you very much.
Lex ran her feet along the ground. She would have opted for a small jog but yeah...knees were saying no and who was she to argue with them?

Delilah took a deep breath before bending down slightly and pointing her wand at her right shoe. Okay. Let's hope she got this right.
"Henshu." Delilah said loudly with the required wand movement. And... she wasn't sure if it worked. The girl took a couple of steps and yeah, no. It hadn't worked. The floor was still slippery. Time to try again.
The girl pointed her wand at her right shoe again before muttering the spell. She repeated the spell and the wand movement for her left shoe as well.. because why not? She was a little tired from bending down for so long... when it had only been two minutes. Odd.
Anyway. She slowly took a few steps to the right and... HEY! She didn't feel like she was going to fall down anymore. That meant the spell worked, yeah? Awesome.

None of them slipped getting up so far, sooooo...
Good. Good progress so far. They were using their senses at least.
"Try and skate upon the floor." she suggested, glancing out across the class. "If you can't, than you know you've done the spell right. If you're too stuck to the floor vhere you can't move, than a simple 'finite' vill reverse the effects. Same goes for reversing the effects of this spell in general."
"Thank you miss.." he said while blushing… she was really nice to him.. he made a mental note to stop by her office later to thank her.
"Sure thing Professor Romanos" he took out his wand and swished it like she described a swish and flick but in a sideways candy cane motion.. "Like that?" he said while smiling.. erggg these wrinkles on his hand were bothering him but he didn't want to cry anymore so that was good…..right
"Im going to try it all together" he said confidently
Swish and flick and "Henshu" now the finial test to see if he can slid across the floor..
Here he went and slide…… slide…. the last one he tried a little too much and he managed to bend over awkwardly. A little pain and a little "ouch" but all in all he was okay… he stood up "it worked!" he said happily and then he ended the spell with "Finite" and he was able to move again.
Brynn would have to admit that this could be a neat spell as she glanced around at some of her classmates beginning to skate around the slippery floor as a result of the charm. She would if she wasn't in such a bad mood, not feeling like being in class at all. But as it were, she was in class and apparently expected to conduct herself as such.
The redhead first looked at her drawn wand then down at her feet, supposing she should get to practicing, especially since she never did get spells right on her first try being relatively new to casting them herself. Practicing the wand movement and incantation first would probably be more helpful. "Henshu," she said quietly to herself before drawing out the syllables to wrap her mouth around the foreign sounding word. "Hennn- shooo." Easy enough even if it did sound weird. The a twist and flick like a horizontal candy cane. Brynn moved her wand in the same manner she saw the professor minutes ago, trying that a few times before proceeding.
Now for real. Brynn did the horizontal candy cane movement, aiming at her left foot, as she said, "Henshu." Then she repeated the actions at her right shoe. Tentatively she moved her right foot forward to test it out. It didn't feel any different. She took a bigger step with her left foot, noting no difference there either. Of course not, she thought grumpily, scowling at her feet. Why couldn't anything be easy?

He need to bend over so he could cast this spell. And bending over was the last thing he wanted to do today but he didn't want to slip either. So bending over its. Messer pointed his wand at his right shoe. "Henshu!"Twist and horizontal flick. And he repeated the spell and the wand movement at his left shoe.
The Hufflepuff tried to move his legs but he can't. The spell worked. Cool!

A spell that was a mixture of the stickfast hex and the gripping charm? ... He... hadn't heard of that before.
The boy leant over and make a quick note of the spell onto his piece of parchment. NEWTs, you know. And the possibility that he'll end up facing something like the Chort in the future. He really hoped he wouldn't ever bump into a creature like that. Just... no. Another big no was making them face a creature like this for their exam. Maybe something else.
There. He was done. Now he was just going to stand up pro--
... Wobble! Whoa.
... Right Slippery floor. He was just going to try his hardest to stand on this spot right here, yeah? Awesome. He'll just stand there and practice the spell for now. "Henshu... Henshu... Henshu... Hen... shu..." Was that right? "Henshu... Henshu!"
The idea of the wand movement being a sideways candy cane made it a lot easier to remember. It also made the boy crave some hot chocolate. Twist and horizontal flick. Twist... and horizontal flick. Slow wand movement was practised slowly. Twiiiiist and a horizontal flick.

OK, time to practice. Alex stood up slowly and carefully trying to give her aching joints time to wake up. She decided to practice her incantation and wand movements separately at first. "Hen-shu, Hen-shu", she repeated slowly. At least the incantation part was pretty easy this time. Next she tried the wand movements giving the wand a candy cane-like twist and horizontal flick.
Now it was time to combine the two. Alex took a moment to gather her thoughts. Then she directed her wand toward her shoe. Repeating her twist and horizontal fick, she added the incantation. Saying"Henshu", Alex looked down at her feet preparing to test her work. She tried to slide her foot a bit and found that she indeed did have some extra traction.
Happy with her partial success, Alex prepared her wand, pointing it at her other shoe. She then repeated the spell, duplicating her wand movements and incantation. Having addressed both feet, Alex attempted to take several gliding steps. She was unable to skate, as both feet did more skidding than gliding. Satisfied with her result, Alex said, "Finite", ending the spell. She paused before attempting to practice the spell a second time.

Time to try the spell? ... Erm...
Alec glanced down at his feet that he had been trying so hard not to move. Sure, this was useful and everything and he knew that he would need it in the future but... the testing part? The boy didn't really want to slip and fall flat on his bottom in front of everyone. Just... yeah. No.
Shaking his head, he held up his wand and took a deep breath. Try. And if he fell... he fell. And would walk out feeling more embarrassed than ever. More embarrassed than that time he wore a giant badger costume in the stands. Or that time when he'd commented on the texture of someone's skin instead of calling them smart. ... CRINGE.
... Spell. Henshu... Henshu... Twist and horizontal flick. He practised the wand movement over a couple of times before taking another deep breath. Right. Ready, he was. "Henshu!"Twist and horizontal flick!
...
... Now was the moment of truth.
He glanced down at his right shoe and paused. If it had worked, there was meant to be more friction, right? Maybe even cause him to get stuck on the same spot. More cringing took place when he remembered back to his last skating adventure. And to think Skates had told him to try a roller blade and a roller skate at the same time.
Slooooowly, he tried to edge his right foot forward, almost expecting the surface to feel slippery again. But... no? No. Not as slippery has his left foot, which he then tried to use to slide forward -- for comparison, you know -- only to...
... wobble on one foot. The right one.
Right. Placing the left foot down again, he aimed his wand over at it instead. "Henshu!"Twist and horizontal flick! The left foot was slid forwards and...

Adi tested out his feet by lifting them one at a time off off the ground. It was honestly no surprise that the spell hadn't worked on his first attempt. He had sort of gotten used to the fact that he had to give spells a few shots before he got them right.
And he was going to try again! "Henshu!'' A twist and a flick with the wand. Would it work? Eagerly, Adi tested his feet again. They lifted off of the ground with ease so no. It didn't work. Ah Well. He'd just have to try again.

Tessa looked up from her shoe, which seemed to be doing just fine on the normal floor, as the Professor spoke. Okay, time for the real test. She still only had the spell on one shoe, so one was the normal which would allow her to gauge the efficiency of the spell better.
She look one step on the slippery surface and her right foot almost slid right out from underneath her. However, her left foot remained steady. "Not bad," she said, and then tried moving her foot. It remained quite stubbornly in place. Frowning, she ended the spell. "Okay, try that again," she murmured, this time aiming for her right shoe.
Once cast, she stepped out onto the floor again. This time, she was able to move the spelled shoe and it didn't slip either. Her left food, however, was doing all it could to remain where it was. She spelled them both and took a breath. She moved a little quicker across the floor- with no slips! "Yes!" she exclaimed, grinning down at her feet.

Ian was grateful for the answer from the professor and felt more confident now to give a go at the spell. Using his left hand, he pointed at his right foot and spoke the words while making the sideways candy cane motion with his wand Hen-SHU! He attempted to move his foot, but it seemed that perhaps nothing had happened as he was able to shuffle his foot forward without any less difficulty than he had upon entering the room earlier. He tried it again...and again, it wasn't working quite well. He was still pushing his foot forward with little resistance from the floor or his foot (other than the pain that continued in his right hip.
Perhaps I need to do the spell with my wand in my right hand. He'd never thought about being able to do spells with only one hand. That might be a problem if he was stuck with this cane forever. He gingerly set the cane against the seat and switched wand hands. With a steadying left hand, he tried again Hen-SHU! He attempted to move his foot again and was pleased that there was a measure of friction this time, but he felt the pain shoot into his foot when he moved.

Listening to the Professor's next instructions, Lux tried to skate on the floor. Clearly the determination she had to get this right had paid off, because she was unable to slide at all, her feet were really stuck to the ground. Using the Finite spell, she quickly reversed it.

Bart was of course disappointed there was no blowing up like Alice had mentioned or toenail growing, because honestly that would be gross and cool and fun to learn. What he could do with a spell like that. He started to visualize people's toenails ripping out of their shoes when he heard the professor, "Bless you" That's when he realized she wasn't sneezing at all.
Oh that was the spell they were using. Oops well whatever. He watched as the others started since clearly his mind was on toenails growing and he started to practice. Henshu, Henshu, Henshu.. That word was funny and he said it out loud acting as if it were a sneeze Heenshuuu, hehehe that was just funny.
Pulling out his wand he did a twist and flicked vertically, "Henshu" nothing... hmmm twist and flick vertically, "Henshu"
Slide.. slide...
No that couldn't be right something was wrong. He wasn't of course, maybe he had the wrong shoes. Yes that probably was it, but he'd try again twist and flick vertically, "Henshu"

Skating was impossible now that Ella had used the spell on her shoes which was good, yeah? Meant her spell had worked properly. She also lifted her feet off the floor and was pleased to find that they weren't stuck either. Success! Did this mean she could sit still for a bit until they moved on?
What would they be doing next, anyway? Curious badger was curious.

Now that Ian seemed to have done the right foot correctly, he tried again with his left. He spoke the words, Henshu! and candy cane swished his wand to point to the left food. He went to pick up his left food. It didn't seem to work though and since his right foot was experiencing friction and his left was not, there was some slipping. His feet began to separate and he tried to catch himself before he fell to the floor. He panicked a little and as he reached for the desk, his left food kept going and soon his legs were wide apart as he found himself on the ground in some measure of pain. He just kind of sat there, grimacing and waiting for the pain to subside.

They were given a few more minutes and after he had been practicing both the wand movement and the incantation for a time, Ben figured he might as well actually put the two in the same move. To see if he could cast it on his shoes, successfully or not. Theory was one thing, be able to actually do what was being described was another and his classmates seemed to be having enough luck with it. He slipped his wand from where it was kept, the second year working the movements out with it in his grasp before preparing to finally try it out all together. His gaze down by his feet where his targetted magic needed to be aimed at.
"Henshu!" he cast with a twist and a horizontal flick. Benjamin then bent his leg with a groan and rubbed the bottom of his shoe against the floor. The action allowing him to feel just a bit more reaction between sole and stone. Was that what it was supposed to be like?
Really, there is a better spell for a demon then tying it up, making it immobile or making it move like crazy. Oichi could not wait to hear this but the professor seems to be keeping a secret for now, awe why? Soon the lesson progressed and they were now learning a new spell and in no time it was time to practice. Cool, a spell to help keep you're feet steady on any surface. That certainly explains why the floor was slippery earlier. Though I do wish the professor would have warned us. Oh, well, time to practice a brand new spell Oichi slowly got her old body up and pointed her wand at her shoes and with a vertical twist and flick said, "henshu", she then attempted to slide like on skates and then tried to stop. No go, she spiraled an and then fell to the ground with a thud and felt her now old bones creak. But she did not say a word as she she slowly got herself up. Man this old body is hard to work with but I gotta do it. And I know I can get this, I just need to keep trying. And perhaps the spiral I did means I'm off to a start.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
A few more minutes Professor Romanos said? Where did the time go? Adi really wanted to get this right at least once before he left. Hastily he concentrated once more on his shoes. "Henshu!'' Cue the twist and horizontal flick. He tested his feet. Nope Still it didn't work. "Henshu!'' He repeated the wand movement. Still nothing.
Okay. Another try. "Henshu!'' Twist and a horizontal flick. Adi tested his feet again. His feet were unable to slide this time. Yes! Finally! He got the spell to work.
They were learning how to stick their feet to the floor? Michael didn't get it. Especially not after they had just been discussing an apparently very smart and very fast demon. But he did not wish to do anymore theory so he picked up his wand and began practicing the movement.
Like a sideways candy cane.
The movement was awkward and it took him a dozen tries to before he had it down pat. And then he sounded out the incantation.
"Henshu." It sounded so weird.
Michael was just about to try the spell on his shoe when he noticed Little Bunny a little away from him and she seemed to be doing a pretty good job. So he moved over to her and tapped her gently on the shoulder. "Hey can you show me how you did that?"
The one time she'd gotten a spell in the first try, and that actually worked, seemed to have worked TOO well. She was stuck. Like, her feet couldn't dislodge themselves from the floor, and the more she moved, the more she wobbled in her posture.
SIGH. These things only happened to her. WHY?
Then she was being tapped on the shoulder. If it wasn't for her predicament she would have taken a step back. As it was she was STUCK. She almost lost balance, but she quickly reached out and grabbed Train Boy's arm. She'd recognized his voice. Maybe it wasn't such a bad day.
"Hi...sorry." She let go off him and grinned with a nod. "All you do is a twist and horizontal flick with your wand." She demonstrated while trying to keep her balance. "Now, when you say the incantation, you want your words and intent to be clear." Or he'd end up with no sticky feet. Or no boat in her case. Transfiguration practice had been terrible.
Beverly gazed at him expectantly as if saying, Go on, try it.

"Ve are actually going to be practicing a spell similar to both the stickfast hex and gripping charm, upon your shoes. It basically makes the traction upon the bottom of your shoes incredible. Very useful for a variety of situations, especially if you need to move about quickly and are upon rather slippery or soft ground." Such as dueling, or...running. Quickly rolling up her right sleeve, she readjusted her grip on her wand. "Granted, this spell vill vork on anything, even flesh, but the results just aren't as great as it is vith shoes. OOC: Hai everyone! Goodness gracious, RL has gotten the better of me this week, hence the slow posts. BUT, be aware, now the posts will be arriving a bit faster. Congratz on sticking around this long! We'll be finishing very soon and getting on to more fun things. Gold stars for everyone!
Vesper was pleased they were moving around...and more so because she didn't have the urges to nastily side-eye Alice. So, yay!
Instead, she was practicing this charm they'd just been taught. Yes. A CHARM. Not that Ves cared nearly as much as her peers did about how it sounded. Really, a charm was a charm. Surely not all magical spells had to sound one particular way. That'd make them boring, right?
For now, she was simply practicing saying it and twisting her wand around in (hopefully) the right motion. It was a funny little spell...Henshu!...that sounded distinctly Japanese...because Vesper knew about Japanese things. Mainly through her video games and Manga comics. "Henshu." It was sorta fun to say out loud, too. Kinda like...Henshin!
Mhm, she'd skip dinner tonight and read some comics. It'd been a few weeks.
Still plopped down on the floor, though, Vesper pointed her wand at her feet. This was probably why Charms just worked better for her...Her "intention" was pretty great. At least it wasn't having to picture something turning into another something. She....just couldn't understand that. It didn't resonate. "Henshu. Henshu. Henshu. Henshu." Yep she was repeating it...and continuously practicing the motion...while pointing her wand at her feet.
Surely one of those...took.
Standing, she took a few steps and noticed that she felt more stable than before. Did that mean it worked? The slick floors didn't seem to effect her walking...

Bay stopped practicing his twist and flick to listen to what they were doing next… Conuring Chains, mega cool.. but with his health he hoped these chains weren't going to be too heavy.
He moved over towards his dummy and said "Ligaten--is" he saw two pieces of chain linked together hit his dummy.. ohhh no…. Bay kept thinking of the word to say in his head.. "Ligatenous. Ligatenous"
Giving it a try again he said with more confidence. "Ligatenous" and the chain wrapped around the dummy. "cool" Bay managed to spit out… today was turning out to be better but oh man he wanted to have that nap so badly.
