Welcome to the first Charms lesson of the new term! As you open the door to enter the charms classroom, you will find something that you will not recognize or expect. The familiar classroom seems to have transformed into something much more magical.
Instead of four stone walls that trap you with your fellow smelly classmates, all you can see for miles is rolling green hills, with pretty little daisy flowers planted here and there. The sun is high in the sky and small patches of fluffy clouds slowly drift overhead. A little stream can be heard in the distance as a calm breeze rolls through.
Feel like taking a nap? Blankets have been set up under the shade of a tall maple tree. Craving some sweets? Some plates of cookies and brownies have been placed on the soft, cushy grass here and there. Fancy a nice cup of tea? You'll probably find a tea kettle around here somewhere, as well as anything else your little teenager heart desires. It's like a daydream...
Oh, and Professor Fuller is nowhere to be found. Typical.
OOC: Welcooooome, students. Do whatever you want (within reason). Class will begin in 24 hours.
OOC: Class has now started! If you just got here, feel free to join in, but don't RP your character arriving late. Just pretend they've been here all along!
Robin was just taking a bite of the seemingly delicious looking brownie when she heard the professor say it wasn't real....what? She quickly dropped the brownie in the trash and slyly rubbed her mouth with her sleave. What was it?? She hoped it wasn't a potion or something like in Alice in Wonderland with the shrinking and growing. but she couldn't help but ask. "Did you put a charm on the brownies or something to make us see things that aren't there?"
She pinched herself to make sure she was there. Never could be too sure.
"Wait Fake food" Mizu said as he looked down at his empty hands.Mizu huffed an angry sigh. The brownies were delicious and they turn out to be fake.Well its probably for the best.He might have sat there and eaten until he was rounder than a fruitloop.

Hahaaaaaaaa! The looks on their faces were absolutely priceless. Piers was trying his best not to just laugh at all the students who just realized they had NO idea what they were eating. Honestly, he didn't know either. Could have been erasers, dust bunnies, their classmates' robes... who knew?
As the students shot around answers, Piers nodded and slowly paced back and forth, his arms crossed over his chest. Daydream charm, illusion charm, room of requirement charm. A lot of the suggestions were the same, but he approved each one with a nod. Except there were a few that were just... odd. Those were met with a simple, curious raise of the left eyebrow.
"Very good! Most of you gave good answers. Others are too Ravenclaw for your own good." He shot a specific look to that Huxley girl. "For those of you who suggested the daydream charm, you are correct."
And with that, the professor took hold of his wand and gave it a little swish. Suddenly, the happy illusion of the cheery outdoors vanished and they found themselves again in the darker, gloomier interior of the castle. What could he say? He lived to disappoint. "Everyone, take a seat." The desks and chairs were set up in their normal rows. Except this time, each desk had a goblet of water on it.
Putting away his wand, Piers walked to the front of the class. "Now, this daydream charm is similar to the product that you may have seen or heard of at that charming little Weasley shop in Diagon Alley. But whatever you think you know about that product, just put it aside. We're starting from scratch.
"The charm I used on all of you today was attached to the doorframe. So, when you walked through it, it altered your state of mind. Now, as cool as that is," Yes, he was boasting, "Charming an empty field, such as the space of an open door frame, is rather advanced. What we'll be charming today is a simple glass of water. For those of you who attended my classes last term, you will remember that a large portion of the outcome of your charms is intent. Once you master filling your charms with your intentions, anything is possible." Did they get that? Because it was important. "Most of this charm relies on your brain, your concentration, and your ability to imagine. Think you can handle it?"
Piers watched them for a second before turning to the board. Picking up a piece of chalk, he wrote:
Sentio Somnium SEN-tee-oh-SOM-nee-uhm
Dusting off his hands, he turned back to the front. "Sentio Somnium. That's the incantation. Everybody practice saying that out loud, let it roll off your tongue... Anybody have any idea what that means? Sentio Somnium?"

Sander looked up when the Professor began explaining what the charm was. When he asked what the meaning of Sentio Somnium was he thought for a moment before raising his hand.
"Professor, Sentio is latin for the word to feel, perceive or experience, while Somnium is the latin word to mean dreams, or fancy or day dreams. So I guess it means perceiving or experiencing what you realize is actually a dream? " Sander concluded his answer.

Wow, she had actually got the answer right with a guess! Go her.
Beaming, Lux felt rather proud of herself, though the good feeling vanished when the pretty outdoors scene vanishes with a POOF. Awww, man. She had been hoping that they could have done the lesson in the fake outdoors.
Sighing, she took a seat as she listened to the Professor talk about the charm they were studying today. Seemed simple enough; she got the concept, and it was a relief to know that they were going to be working with something small. Latin was not her forte, however, so she sat this question out. Instead, she pulled out her notebook and a pen, so she could take notes.
They were back in a normal classroom. Not that they ever left, but it had felt as if they'd been somewhere else. Gah! This mind trick was making her brain feel funny. No fun.
Grabbing onto a chair, Beverly used it to pull herself up. Stupid back ache. Stupid day dream. Stupid not-really-sweets sweets. Sitting down she pulled her bag over her lap and stared at the goblet of water.
Were they going to turn water into rum? Or make it seem like it?
Whatever they were going to do, she was still annoyed and wanted the lesson to fly by. She nodded to herself when the professor mentioned intent. She knew it, she sometimes had it.
Sentio Somnium. She wrote it down after taking out a piece of parchment and a quill. The first word she recognized. Latin was boring to her, but she did learn some stuff. Then Somnium, it reminded her of another word. With that thought out, she raised her hand slowly.
"Um, Sentio means feel and-" Yeah, that was it, "-and, um, Somnium is like somnolent. Sleepy. So...to feel a dream?" Hmmm. >.<

While the other students shared their answers, Sander quietly practiced pronouncing the words to the spell.
"Sentio Somnium....SEN-tee-oh.....SOM-nee-uhm....SEN-tee-oh.....SOM-nee-uhm....SEN-tee-oh.....SOM-nee-uhm....Sentio Somnium," Sander softly practiced the words to the incantation.
He picked up his quill and quickly jotted down the words of the incantation in his journal, and waited for the other students to continue sharing their answers.

"That first bit of the spell looks kind of like... sentient. Like beings. Like us." Those weird people who actually knew Latin had already answered, but Alice was determined to figure the spell out for herself and planned on doing her thinking out loud.
Somnium sounded like... somnolence. Yep. What that snake girl had said. She nodded in agreement.
"Sentio Somnium." That sounded kinda funny. "SEN-tee-oh-SOM-nee-uhm."

Once Lux had written down the spell on her paper, as well as the pronunciation, she started to quietly mutter the words under her breath as she listened to her fellow students give their answers.
Michael could see the Professor's mouth moving but he was finding it hard to hear what he was saying. There were just these kind of muffled noises swirling around him.
He stuck his fingers in his ears and giving them a wiggle in the hopes to clear them out. But still he could not hear properly when he removed his fingers.
Should he panic?
No.
Instead he raised his hand in the air. "EXCUSE ME PROFESSOR? BUT CAN YOU REPEAT THAT? I DIDN'T QUITE HEAR WHAT YOU SAID." Okay he had NOT heard one word of what he had said.

Sentio Somnium? Sounded alright. West could tell what it meant too, the Latin connection was pretty clear at least. He didn't bother saying so because others had already and all that. Instead he just listened. The doorway? Cool. That was cool.
He said it outloud a few times dutifully, but honestly his mind, his veeerrry imaginative mind, was wandering.
Ohhhh the possibilities.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Kevin moved to find an empty seat and sat down on the chair, looking at the black board at the front when the Professor wrote down the incantation. He took out his note book and quill to write down the incantation, There was something wrong though. His vision was a bit blurry and he squinted his eyes trying to see the words that had been written on the black board. But even when he did he still couldn't read it.
The young Gryffindor with the gray hair and wrinkles around his eyes leaned forward in his desk, trying to see how to write it. "DID YOU DO SOMETHING ELSE TO MAKE THE LETTERS ON THE BLACKBOARD BLURRY?" He SHOUTED throughout the classroom without raising his hand in the air. He wasn't really realising he was doing it though because it sounded normal in his own ears and then slowly, holding his lower back, he walked to the front to stand near the blackboard. "AH MUCH BETTER!"
He wrote down the incantation in the notebook in his hand and returned to his seat again. Well then time for practise. "SEN-tee-oh.....SOM-nee-uhm.... Sentio Somnium... Sentio Somnium... Sentio Somnium"
As for the question, he had no idea so he just continued practising.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Something like a mind trick. Cool! What did the incantation mean? Uhhhh...Adi raised his hand. Was that a little shot of pain in his elbow? He didn't pay too much attention to it. "Something to do with dream, Professor,'' he said stating the obvious. And ugh! Why was that Gryffindor (Mikey) and Slytherin (Kevin) speaking so LOUDLY? He covered his ears.
"Excuse me, must you be so LOUD?'' the Puffer asked the guys and stressing on the last word. Let's all speak normally, okay? No loud tones. He removed his hands from his ears and began to practice the incantation.
''SEN-tee-oh-SOM-nee-uhm, SEN-tee-oh-SOM-nee-uhm, SEN-tee-oh-SOM-nee-uhm, SEN-tee-oh-SOM-nee-uhm, Sentio Somnium, Sentio Somnium, Sentio Somnium...''

A daydream spell...so that was what it was. Certainly sounded like a nice spell to use when one wasn't having a good day, which for him was beginning to come more and more. Seeing the spell on the board, Ben copied it down into to his notes before visibly wincing as a boy shouted. The second year gave the younger Gryffindor a look but said nothing. His ears were still ringing at the sound and Adi had already spoken up.
Yeah...Why did he have to be so loud?
Ben shook his head to try and clear his head and focus on the task at hand. "Sentio Somnium...SEN-tee-oh-SOM-nee-uhm." The boy repeating the spell, aloud but not too loud. Seeeeee...HE could speak properly and not hurt anyone's ears.

Could Hannah handle it? Of course she could. She listened as the professor boasted about his charm. He was a professor after all, she would have expected nothing less than what he managed to master. He wasn't going to get a trophy or anything for it. Everything was going alone fine, as fine as things could go given the circumstances when all of a sudden it was as if somebody turned the volume down.
Was she going mental. She could see lips moving, but that was it. "Professor, why are you whispering? I can't hear you!" What was he playing at anyways? Didn't he know that she would already not in the mood?
Adrienne frowned as the illusion vanished. Even though it may not have been real, it was certainly a more pleasant atmosphere than the classroom was. Why couldn't he have left it? And now that they were moving on to the more practical elements of the spell, her questions were left unanswered. She wasn't 'too Ravenclaw for her own good', was she? If anything, she was less Ravenclaw than most of her House, so that comment probably wasn't directed at her. "Somnium is probably based in the Latin somnus, to sleep," she recited, and then she got to the actual questions she wanted to ask.
"Professor, while the charm was still active, what would have happened if we walked past where one of the walls should have been? Would we, like, walk into it, or go past it somehow?"

WHY was that kid yelling?
Ella was trying to learn here, didn't he know? She couldn't possibly listen to Professor-brags-a-lot when he was shouting like that. Way to make the Ellaphant grump, Gryffindor. But it seemed like he wasn't the only one who ws having trouble. The blonde shot them curious looks before deciding to docus on something else.
Time to practice. The spell was... ... ...It was... with a puzzled expression, the eighteen year old glanced up at the board and found the incantation right there in front of her. Oh, okay. "Sentio Somnium." Others had already shared what they thought the meaning to be so no need to repeat answers. Instead she let the words roll off her tongue as requested.
Ability to imagine. Yeah, Delilah had quite a good imagination and she liked to think that she was smart so she could do this, yeah? Mhm. Also, why was Bart yelling? Seriously. That boy just liked to create a scene in almost every class. She turned to frown at him. Please behave.
"It probably has something to do with dreaming?" Just a guess. She wasn't exactly sure.. Anyway. Time to practice the spell. "Sentio Somnium." The girl repeated it a few times before she decided that she'd gotten the pronounciation right.
"The charm I used on all of you today was attached to the doorframe. So, when you walked through it, it altered your state of mind. Just like that... it vanished. Sarah ought to learn that spell fast.
So it was attatched to the door.. CLEVER! Saraj wrote down some notes, including the incantation. "SEN-tee-oh-SOM-nee-uhm" she said. . She was getting good at the incantations. Getting it rigt the first time was impressive. "SEN-tee-oh-SOM-nee-uhm" she repeated. "SEN-tee-oh-SOM-nee-uhm" dhr said again
She thought she had it
Well this was interesting. Seemed like younger student were losing their hearing. Or they were just fond of yelling. Nigel hoped it was option two. But the weirder part is that he could not see what Professor Facial Hair wrote in the board. Blurry. He had perfect vision yesterday and did not eat anything funny.
Very Mysterious.
Well he heard it was Sentio Somnium. Alright then. "SEN-tee-oh-SOM-nee-uhm, SEN-tee-oh-SOM-nee-uhm, SEN-tee-oh-SOM-nee-uhm, Sentio Somnium"
Think that should do it.

Oichi suddenly felt her vision go blurry just as the professor was writing the new spell on the board she still heard it and her back hurt so she decided not to go for a closer look and decided to with what she heard. Oichi raised her hand, "Scentio Somniam, hmm, well scentio sounds like scent and somniam sounds like a strange way of representing sleep or dreams. So, are we perhaps going to create vivid daydreams of things that have scents and have smells in the daydream as well".

When the Professor made the beautiful outdoor scene disappear, Alex was bummed. Having class in the meadow would have been way better than sitting in the dreary classroom, but oh well.... Alex proceeded to slowly rise from the ground and find a seat at one of the desks that had reappeared.
Explaining that they would be using a daydream charm on a glass of water, the Professor wrote the incantation on the board. For some reason, Alex was having difficulty seeing the words on the board. She squinted her eyes trying to make the words clearer, but without much success. She thought that maybe her eyes were just tired from too much reading and studying. After squinting and leaning forward as far as she could, Alex could just make out the incantation.
She practiced repeating the words, "Sen-ti-o Som-ni-um, Sen-ti-o Som-ni-um" Alex said the words softly until she felt comfortable with her pronunciation.

... And they were back in the normal room. Shame. The other one seemed to be a lot... better? More appealing? Yeah.
Now his fake cookies were gone too.
Heading over towards the nearest desk, the boy slowly sat down in his seat, shooting a curious look over at the goblet of water and then at the Professor. This wasn't fake, was it? He didn't think he could stand another disappointment. Cookies, you know. He still wanted some.
... Why... were people being so LOUD?! The eighteen year old grimaced at the loudness before looking over at... BLINK. Who...? Blink blink blink. Familiar person. A Gryffindor. That's all he needed to know. He also wanted to know why they were being so loud. And why that other Gryffindor was heading right up to the front. ... Erm...?
... Practice. Right.
Shaking his head, he looked up at the board and the spell written on there. Sentio Somnium. SEN-tee-oh. SOM-nee-uhm. A spell that required... intent. Alec was already dreading that. Intent came hand in hand with courage sometimes, something that he greatly lacked. Maybe he could make up for it in the imagination part. Maybe.

Ugh, more latin. Thankfully Caleb had brought his book so he was able to look it up quickly. He raised his hand. "Well, Somnium means 'daydream' in latin, I believe, so...summoning daydream? Or something like that," he said with a shrug. Sounded about right.
Whatever, it made you daydream. That was the point of it.

Too Ravenclaw? Was he referring to her? The brunette angled a brow when the Professor shot her a look, then gave him a peculiar smirk. Should he have expected anything less from the blue-robed? She will just take that as an obvious compliment yes? Yes.
So there was the charm deciphering and the water goblet and the little wandstroke. But this brunette was far more interested with his spell work with the doorway. She stared at it trying to see if she can decipher that instead whilst distractedly swishing her wand and murmuring the incantation "Sen-ti-o Som-ni-um.... Sen-ti-o Som-ni-um"
Was it really just the air or did he do something with the doorframe as well?
