It just so happens that the room the BoG has been given used to be a dusty old classroom and practice room for student use. The dust is gone, the desks have been replaced by an elegant hardwood business table, and the governors all have comfortable leather executive chairs now. The long, green chalkboard on one side of the room is all that remains of the historic Classroom Eleven, as the rest of the walls now have classic wood panelling and handsome portraits on them.

It said basically everything that all the others were talking about but much more concise. This would be good for reference if they needed it. So he set it on the table and gave the girl another small nod and smile to let her know she was not in trouble. Hopefully that would relieve some of the worry she had?

Then he remained quiet for a bit to listen as more and more students kept entering and talking. Not all, thankfully, as some knew how to be quiet and listen, but this was still getting a bit too chaotic.

He wasn't quite sure about the quarantine idea, though not entirely opposed to it either, but then Althea suggested an interesting idea. That was definitely worth looking into as well. The timeline idea might not have been good to tell them, however...but what was done was done. They just didn't need anymore panicking or shouting in here. Thank Merlin for the Head Girl and Nolan trying to reassure them.

"If you all would like to stay in here and give your input, you may IF and only IF you can take your seats and remain silent unless we address a question to you." That certainly wasn't a guarantee that all, or any, of them could stay if the rest of his fellow governors agreed they should leave, but Atticus had no problems with at least a few staying to give more details they might not yet know about all this to help them find the best solution. But if they were going to constantly interrupt and not let them discuss, then they needed to leave because they weren't helping themselves by talking over everyone and complaining about every idea they came up with.

Penelope was still silent as everything went on, listening but choosing not to comment much. It would have been amusing to see some of them getting overly excited and talking so much if the situation wasn't actually pretty serious and affecting her too. But then the idea of a "timeline" came up and...

Timeline? Timeline to... She didn't really want to finish that thought but then Alexa and some other guy blurted it out anyway.

That...that was...........

Yeah, she was just gonna continue to sit here silently and watch. And breathe. And not think about stuff like that. That wasn't gonna happen, like Ella and another governor guy were saying.

Quarantine did not sound that bad. They were still in school and as long as they got free food. It seemed fine to Nigel. Well as long as they figured out what was wrong. He did not want to reach the end of the timeline. Which death by natural causes. Or not so natural in this case.

Still, He would rather be in the no points reducing safety of his dorm room instead of here now. Maybe he should have gone to Tillstorm first. Well to late to go there now. The now thing he did learn was the real old old guy in the room was friends with Botros. Guess old guys stick together.

At least Ella was trying to calm down the younger students. Smart idea once everyone got the timeline thing. Now it just seemed wise just to stay seated and quiet in his chair and just listen. More and More of the Governors were entering the room and saying something stupid would be really really unhelpful.

Sander didn't even know that the school's Board of Governors were even in the school until Lux told him. He wondered whether his father knew that before sending him here. From what he knew the only time there was a Board of Governors on-site that usually meant that the school was experiencing problems and it was believed that the staff needed oversight.

Not that Sander had a problem with the staff. They had all been fair to him. He was only here to address his aging issue which was putting on crimp not only his ice hockey practices but also when it came to wooing his girlfriend.

He had remained silent all this time preferring to let the Prefects handle this...until there was a mention of them being quarantined....and that's when he knew he couldn't stay silent any longer.

He raised his hand in order to get the Board of Governors attention.

Timeline?

As if she didn't know that. As if she thought aging led to rainbows and unicorns. Only Peyton would believe that, but even then she didn't think her cousin was that stupid. Since the wrinkling bit started all Beverly could think about was how fast was this aging-thing was going to continue. When the blonde woman mentioned it, aloud, her hands curled into tight fists on her lap, her eyes focused on the ground.

Her head did jerk up when a boy (Jun) said the Healer - HER Head of House - didn't get the job down. She sent him a glare. "It's not her fault," she muttered. "Maybe we should have gone to her first." Another mumble. And that one made sense. But she was here now, and hopefully they'd get some faster help.

Instead of feeling better that adults knew of the problem, comments about dying caused her bottom lip to tremble. She bit on it hard and tried to block out what the Gryffindor Prefect was saying. Maybe they'd find a cure before they aged too much? Well...much more than they already had.

From the corner of her eye, she saw the man (Atticus) set her letter on the table. At least he didn't seem offended by it. She'd only been trying to get help. Maybe--no, not maybe. She SHOULD have gone to the Healer first.

Was it too late to walk out?

Corin had a way of hearing things even when he's not there so the sounds of near hysteria was filtering through his ear discretely as he purposely made his way towards the Castle entrance. As he turned he could already see the shadows of more than the usual number of people the conference room usually held. Well looks like this meetings a full house.

"Yes agreed-- quarantine and testing." he uttered as he strode into the room and took his seat amongst the Governors. "We need to try to find out if if they have a contagion causing all this--" he gestured at the students that looked quite frankly older than him now "-- or if theres some kind of change happening to them internally, like how some Muggle children suffer from Progeria." He looked at the student (Sophie) that mentioned that there was a staff member actually getting younger "And I would suggest that we have Mr Botros tested as well, isolated in a separate place from the rest of those suffering from aging older."

"If the Hospital Wing isnt big enough I'm sure there are other rooms in the castle that can accommodate however many there are suffering from this. I was thinking we first need to figure out how this thing spreads. If we can determine that this problem isnt being passed on like the common cold then there shouldnt be a reason that the affected be quarantined for too long." Thats for those who are rather concerned about having a dent on their academic and social lives.

And then there was a someone raising his hand (Sander) "Yes go ahead?"

And now there were children in here who weren't even aging. Cassandra fixed the only YOUNG girl in the room with a look, although at this point, there was such madness... there was no point in arguing. They couldn't really properly debate the topics, since everyone in the room seemed to think they needed to have their say.

Cassandra listened quietly as the other governors (and the students) expressed opinions, and she gave serious credence to most suggestions. "A timeline, Althea... it's a good question. It seems that they were all infected around the same time, and unless someone can indicate otherwise, there don't seem to be new cases. All these children are equally aged, you see...?" It made her fret over what her own child looked like at the moment.

"So that's to say... those not currently infected should be examined and released into the care of their parents. If their immunity can reveal something about the disease, all the better. Those infected should be put into the care of geriatric Healers and kept separate from the general population. And Hogwarts should be closed, at least until the source of this disease is identified." That was the most painful opinion she could express, and was only possible by separating the mother part of her brain from the governor part. She didn't want anyone else to take care of Mo, but she also didn't want to lose all her children before their time.

"Now that we are aware of the situation, rest assured we WILL take care of it. And the Board -and the Hogwarts staff- will make the most informed decision possible as far as which actions needs to be taken, and you need to trust that we will take care of this, and keep a civil tongue. Are we clear?" Because if this kid continued just blurting out whatever, she WOULD charm him right out the door and bar him from participating in the remainder of the meeting.

In any case, if he wished to stay, he needed to bite his tongue. The tall blonde woman eyed him severely, quite clearly the type of woman who demanded respect. And this boy a Ravenclaw, as she once was? What WAS their head of house teaching them instead of manners? How to brew a cup of tea and read the dregs?

She agreed calmly but with utter conviction as she gave Ella and the other students an efficiently reassuring nod, particularly toward that Cambridge girl who Vinteren seemed so oddly fond of, "We'll make sure of that, now that we know how dire the situation is." The big question was why this hadn't been reported earlier. Had anyone actually gone to see Tillstorm? The lines of communication certainly needed work. Still.

When he addressed her she leaned forward and spoke quietly in his ear, outlining what he needed to know.

Another nod from Althea in support of another colleague, because she CERTAINLY agreed with the mouth-shut-unless-addressed comment from Atticus, and she specifically eyed Laura when the Hufflepuff arrived, because that girl was probably STILL trouble, even if apparently she'd lost her mind. And Corin was looking to a young man who had raised his hand. Well, that was good. Polite. She approved of THAT at least. Good manners. She gave Corin a quick nod of acknowledgement and then turned her attention to President Rae-Branxton.

I think you're right about examination... perhaps we ought to send someone to liaise with the healer and the headmistress and set up a triage of sorts, and have all students report to be tested --and perhaps we need to collate a list of symptoms, in case there are others who aren't showing visible signs..." And were showing mental signs... actually Laura there seemed to be a good example of the mental effects. Unless she was just as daft and troublesome as she'd always been, who really knew?

She listened more. "I would hate for Hogwarts to be closed, but it may certainly come to that, when it may not have had we been informed earlier." But couldn't do much about that now, could they? She wouldn't say it out loud but they were almost lucky that Cassandra's son was one of those effected, or perhaps they might not have had any pre-knowledge at all that there was anything going on before this very meeting.

"Do we know exactly when symptoms began to make themselves known?" Althea tapped her notebook with her finger, not bothering with her wand, and flipped open, the matching quill bobbing up and beginning to take notes.

"We need to speak with Truebridge and Tillstorm, and assess the situation in full before we make such a drastic choice.... especially considering we have no way of knowing it won't spread further, even if others appeared not to be affected over the holiday, we don't know the nature of this affliction. It may be best to quarantine the entire school, rather than close it down, at least initially." She paused and then added, "And St Mungos needs to be alerted, and perhaps a public service announcement asking for anyone with similar symptoms to come forward, just to be sure that nobody outside of Hogwarts has been effected. It may be prudent to liaise with the Ministry," despite their current... issues, "And have them work with St Mungos to investigate stopgaps, and temporary measures that may be taken to reverse and combat the symptoms."

Her quill continued writing.

"What do you need me to do, Cassandra?" Althea added with a respectful nod, making herself entirely available.

Eyes wide and staring as moooreee students approached them with the ailment, he did his best to listen as Cassandra spoke, but Merlin was it hard. He wanted to hug them all, and feed them soup, and colour their hair... but he didn't want to catch old man syndrome, he liked his YOUTH thank you.

His head turned as Althea offered her assistance, and the look on his face-- whilst still shocked indicated that he too wanted to help. "I can help toooooo," he chimed in. Yes yes. And eyes to the students too, SYMPATHETIC-don't-touch-rub-sneeze-on-me eyes.

He had not meant to find this place but the boys bathroom. It was the fifth time today that the old looking first year had to go to the bathroom and he was still getting lost. He did not know if it was the aging thing or his own lack of memory... lets keep it with the aging thing. The reason why he had opened the door was out of curiousity but mostly because he had leaned against it because his back started to hurt and he needed support from the door.

He looked around at the older people in the room and the students who looked even older and then jumped a little when someone said that they weren't going to die.....O____o okay WHAT was going on? Hmm..good question. From the doorway, the young Gryffindor with gray hair and supporting himself up at the door cleared his throat to get some attention. "What's going on? ....who is dead?" whaaat?

Going silent, Lux watched the proceedings curiously though she gave a warm smile to the woman who thanked her for volunteering. She wanted to help, so she would do whatever was needed. Biting her lip, she listened as more things were discussed, and wished she had more input to give at the moment, but that was not the case. Maybe that was a good thing, as she did not want to annoy the grown ups and get kicked out of the meeting.

When had the symptoms started? That was a good question. She tried to remember back. Was it almost right away? Since she herself was okay, it was hard to pinpoint.

A young boy had come in, and - oh my, another aging child. Nolan sighed as he took a look at the boy's gray hair and helped him into a chair. "No one is dead, don't worry, we're trying to figure out this...aging thing," he assured him. The boy couldn't be older than a first year - what a terrible first year experience!

"Can anyone think of anything in the school that's been...different?" he asked the room. "I know that's a rather vague question, but it had to start somewhere. Is there anything that appeared or seemed off about the school at any point around the time these symptoms started appearing?" he asked them. Someone had to have noticed SOMETHING, right?

Sophie, who had been slowly edging toward the door, paused in her movements. WHOA, WHOA, WHOA. Waaaaaaaait just a minute. Hogwarts was going to be CLOSED?!

... WOO HOO!!!!

If she thought her bones could hold up to it, she'd do a little victory dance. This was summer break--making itself known just a little bit early. Her mind began racing with thoughts of staying up late and sleeping until noon. No homework! No classes!

Victory was THEIRS!

Wait. But...what about her second year? Would she have to repeat it? ... BAHHHH. And what about the aging? Would somebody come to her house and heal her?

An assurance they weren't gonna die from a student who knew no more about the disease than she did and a bunch of adults who were all luckily uninfected. How promising. How VERY promising. The Gryffindor did everything to keep from rolling her eyes. These people needed to work at reassuring. The poor Slytherin girl over there looked like she was near ready to have a full on panic attack or something while discussions happened around her.

When her back didn't feel like it was about to snap in two anymore, Lex slumped forward onto the table, arms crossed and her head resting on them. They were discussing business and one was giving Jun looks. A sure sign they should be hardly contributi--

Wait WHAT??? Lex shot right back up. Close the school?? Quarantine was one thing but but but, "We haven't had our Quidditch Match yet!! You can't close the school. Seriously?" NUH-UH!!!!! It wasn't FAIR that only Slytherin and Ravenclaw got to enjoy the season, not that she thought she could manage flying a broom at this point but it was the principle of the matter damnit!

"My symptoms started a week into the new school term." For the person that was wondering. "A few strands of grey hair that moved to locks and finally my entire head. I can't think of anything that's been different because no one's given us any free anythings this year. Everything's been surprizingly normal outside of us getting old."

Fixes, they needed them now. No school was one thing, staying home with Amanda and Jessa and missing a whole Quidditch season was another.

Sophie nodded along as Lex pretty much explained that they'd all gotten old for pretty much no reason whatsoever. Adding to that, she said, "The one and only thing that's different is the addition of that new ghost. She showed up pretty upset over something, if you ask me." Mmhmm. Insert finger pointing on Sophie's behalf. "Maybe we should ask her to come in here..."

She pretty much fit the bill of somebody...err, some being...out to do everybody else in.

Carter definitely was not a fan of all these students being here. He understood that they were interested in helping. But freaking out wasn't helping anything and it seemed that many of them were on the verge of hysteria.

And there was talk of the school closing. Again, probably not the best for a room full of students to hear.

"So shall we start by speaking with the Headmistress and Healer?" Yes? Maybe? "Perhaps we ought to see about that new ghost too." Since that had been mentioned twice now.

And just out of curiosity... "How quick do you think we could get additional healers?" That would help speed up the initial exams and help them figure out if a shutdown was necessary.

Laura was just standing there now as quiet as anything, she was really feeling old and was trying to hold in

Laura looked around to see if anyone else had noticed it she hoped not because it wasn't her fault that she always wanted to fart and also the way her hearing was she hadn't heard it much so hopefully it wasn't a loud one but well she wasn't sure. She just stood there waiting to see what they would say next.

No one was dead? Well that was a good thing. He was a bit confused in the beginning on what was going on and what they were all talking about but he quickly came to realise that it had something to do with the aging thing that a lot of students seemed to have caught. Or have been cursed with or whatever....

When the man who had answered his previous question helped him walk towards one of the chairs, the Gryffindor glared. "Oi! I may be old but i'm not stupid that i don't know how to walk, young man!" But when he sat down he let out a soft sigh as his body could finally relax a bit from the walking.

Closing the school. Although Kevin did not really like his Prefect he disliked everyone so no harm, he did have to agree with her. He wanted to see Gryffindor have a quidditch match as well! He'd never seen them play before and if they closed off the school......it was unfair! "Don't close the school! It's only my first year and i can't go back again?" Wasn't it funny how the boy who hated the school grew to like it and was now actually defending it? "My old age symptoms grew slowly and started in my first week here. I woke up one day and brushed my hair and found a few gray hair. Then over the weeks i started looking like this" he motioned to his own body.

YOUNG MAN? Nolan was old enough to be this boy's father, but he wasn't going to argue. Poor kid had no idea what was going on, he was sure of it. He looked back at the young girl who'd brought up the ghost and frowned.

"My symptoms started a week into the new school term." For the person that was wondering. "A few strands of grey hair that moved to locks and finally my entire head. I can't think of anything that's been different because no one's given us any free anythings this year. Everything's been surprizingly normal outside of us getting old."

Fixes, they needed them now. No school was one thing, staying home with Amanda and Jessa and missing a whole Quidditch season was another.

Closing the school. Although Kevin did not really like his Prefect he disliked everyone so no harm, he did have to agree with her. He wanted to see Gryffindor have a quidditch match as well! Well if there was one thing nice about the discussion today is discovering that the students seem particularly passionate about keeping the school open. "Alright calm down, we didnt say we're going to close the school, it will only come to that if we find it absolutely necessary." he said as he looked to Rae. It will be her call after all. "Besides, if thats going to happen we'll have to come up with a way for all of you students to keep up with your studies. I'm pretty sure most of you wouldnt want to get held back from graduating or having to repeat a year."he glanced towards his fellow Governors. Yeah thats gonna be another problem they have to tackle on top of the epidemic.

He looked to the students who replied. All their symptoms occurred in the first week after school started. That supports both Rae's and Althea's statements that the afflicted are aging concurrently and that there doesnt seem to have any new cases within Hogwarts or cases being reported outside of it. "Maybe we can try to narrow it down a bit more...." he touches his brow thoughtfully as he turned to address the Aged Ones "Since you both had your symptoms appearing at the same time, can you recall if theres anything you have done similarly? Places you both been to? Items you both have had contact with? People? Creatures? Ghosts?" he added since he too was as curious about this new spectre as his colleagues were.

Well, now seeing as Sophie had seen this ghost and witnessed her wrath against Bentley firsthand, she MIGHT be able to help. Howeverrrr, she had her doubts about the woman...err, spirit, as well. "Ahem," she said aloud this time. "I...might be able to help. My brother and I saw her in the dungeons once."

Then we sort of ran away in fear...

"I can go take a look down there and see if she's still around," she said. "I might be able to get my brother to go, too." Yes, little brother. We need you.

Ella was silently panicking from her seat, the only sign of this being the way she was bouncing her very achy knees as she looked from one person to the next as the conversation circulated around the room. Talk of quarantines and closing the school had her feeling pretty freaked, especially when that one board member mentioned people not wanting to be held back. Her green eyes widened and she bit her lip, thinking she was one of those people. She couldn't miss out on studying for NEWTs and classes and she definitely didn't want to have to repeat her seventh year due to something beyond her control. She just...no. She wouldn't deal well with that. Still no words left her mouth, though. She needed to calm down a bit before she opened her mouth or else who knew what kind of stuff might come out.

This was addressed to the man asking about who might be able to locate her, a task Slytherin Sophie seemed more than happy to do. As for the other questions floating around the room, Ella didn't have anything to add. Honestly she just wanted to go find Alec and sit with him for a bit. She was feeling really tired and all this talk about the school closing was making her lightheaded.

Sophie sort of held her breath as she waited for that Governor over there to respond to her offer. She was no Gryffindor and wasn't fond of jumping head first into danger, but this was her YOUTH she was talking about here. She didn't want to admit that she was chicken to go by herself, but then--...

She didn't have to! She'd just nominate somebody!

"I'd like the Head Girl to go with me if I go," she said. Sorry, Ella. "You know, safety in numbers and the such." Also, if somebody had to get eaten or something, Sophie would nominate Ella then, too. Besides, the Head Girl seemed to have some sort of connection with the woman anyway. Nope, this wasn't going as expected. Truthfully, Beverly had imagined the adults to freak out and hurry to find a cure and fix them all withing the span of, at least, fifteen minutes. High weren't a good thing. All this talk about closing the school, contacting parents wasn't what she'd imagined either. If Dad or Kennedy got word of this they'd take her out and she might not see Hogwarts ever again.

So. No.

She didn't want to stay here, either. Anxiety being the highest it's been since the Hogwarts' Express, she was feeling too closed in and breathing was getting harder. Nope. Nope. Staying here was bad.

"Um," she raised her hand once more. "I think...I think mine started after the pep rally." That ghost they mentioned was there. What if ghost spit got on her and caused this? They ghost lady had been yelling and all. O__O

She gazed at all of the adults. "Ummm... I think I'll just go to the Healer. Thank you," she said, sliding off the chair. She froze when her back cracked and she let out a whimper. Gah!

Coming here might not have been the brightest idea, but SHE WAS DESPERATE. DAMMIT. OUCH.

After the initial commotion and headache of trying to listen to each rambling child, she finally heard the suggestions of the president and the fellow members of the board. "Perhaps we shouldn't send the seemingly unaffected ones home just yet," she interjected politely. "For all we know, the infection or whatever this illness is could just be dormant, but still contagious. I believe quarantine or at least segregation between the two parties would be the safest route." Even if they closed the school, they'd make them stay on site. Make them suffer a little more. Heh.

Ohh, somebody new (or new to Sophie) was stepping in, and she was addressing her. Sophie cleared her throat again and shrugged. Had the ghost been a professor? "I...don't know," she said. "A few years ago? She would have been my Aunt Sierra's professor then." ...and that fit the timeline the ghost had been talking about, too! She'd said Bentley caused her to be a ghost! *GULP*

Anyway... "Well, I don't know how new she is, but she wasn't here last year," Sophie answered. She bit her bottom lip as she tried to remember more. "Oh, that's right--she said she'd arrived in the dungeons the day of the pep rally but that she'd been floating around for days. So, yes. New."
