The Black Lake lies behind the castle and though it may seem like the water is calm on the surface, you will learn that that is not the case underwater. Creatures have made it their home from Merpeople to Grindylows. The most notable is Bartholomew Henry, the Giant Squid. The lake is a beautiful place for you to hang out.
Mr.Kirby has built a dock and has supplied it with some fishing rods. The lures have been charmed to prevent any magical creatures of the lake from getting hooked. The Groundskeeper will not tolerate any use of live bait, and is running a strict CATCH and RELEASE policy. Failure to follow these two rules will result in serious consequences.
Melek looked at him with a half smile, "Its fine, Kace... Im just not used to getting touched on my face... or on my arms or anything... my parents arent very lovey dovey so the most they do is pat me on the head like a dog but then again Annaleecia tries to get me to hug her a lot it seems..." Mel sighed and gave an awkward chuckle. She nodded, "Yep, totally splashed my face." Melek gave a wink and giggled, starting to smile a little more. Mel liked hanging out with Kace. He cheered her up. She shrugged, "Im not really sure... we started arguing about who knows what... and she said that she was surprised that i wasnt in slytherin because I am rude... so I kinda got really mad and i threw a goblet at her... but I didnt mean to and i feel really sorry for it and... and..." She started to break down and cry again. Her hands flew up and covered her face as the tears came trailing down her face. Her crying didnt let her hear the professor thing.
Kace smiled to her and understood. "It is fine. I understand." Melek didn't need to explain. Then he heard her explanation of the fight. Then he nodded and thought Annalee was being rude for calling her a Slytherin but maybe he will ask Anna for her side of the story. "Awww i know that. You are a good person or you seem so to me." he smiled to her and gave her another comforting hug when she was crying.

She gave a nod. "Okay..." Melek shrugged and sighed, "I dont know... I mean I guess I blew up a little before she called me that... if you called snapping blowing up, i mean... I just got sick of how it sounded like she was bragging about her house... and well she kept bringing up you and something that you said... and it just annoyed me because i didnt want to hear how awesome everything was when I was feeling a little grumpy and homesick at the moment... I mean I know that I shouldnt have snapped but..." She sighed and looked away and downwards. "Sorry, you probably dont want to hear me go on and on about it." Melek stood up to go.

"No it is fine. If you need to vent i am here." he said smiling. "But maybe we need to do something for you to get your mind off of it." he smirked. He looked around and wanted to find something to do. "Umm....well i wouldn't suggest swimming in the lake because it might be too cold." he said not really up for swimming.
"Here i have a frisbee in my backpack we can play with....how does that sound?" he asked her.

She looked at him and gave a weak smile, "Thanks, Kace... you are really sweet... your girlfriend or your crush or whatever or whoever is lucky." Melek nodded, "Yeah... maybe that will work... distraction..." Mel looked at him and then to the lake, "It is so cold without being wet and I dont have my bathing suit with me anyways..." She gave a nervous giggle and crossed her arms. Melek tilted her head, "A frisbee? What is that and how do you play with it?" Mel blushed in embarrassment, kinda wishing that she didnt admit that she didnt know what he was talking about.

"Oh a frisbee is sort of like a flat disc and then you have to hold it a certain way to get it to glide over to the next person." he said trying to explain right. "Here let's go on the field and do it." he said holding out his hand for her to follow him.

Those words were the only warning Tessa had. But, given her Quidditch reflexes of catching Quaffles and dodging Bludgers, it wasn't too surprising that she was able to get out of the way of the water balloon in time.
"Oi!" she exclaimed, looking around for the source of the water balloons, a slow smile spreading on her face. "If you're going to start throwing those, you had best share ammo with the other side!" she called out, stifling laughter.

Oh. The girl was leaving now. "Bye, nice to meet you." Waving, she watched as Silver walked off. She was sure that she would still be seeing her around the castle.
It was okay though, because she still had Tessa and Bay with her until they decided to leave and go back to their Common Room or something! "Can you teach me how to fly, Tessa?" She was asking a serious question even if she knew that her friend was joking. If Tessa could help her get over her fear of flying, she would be able to play Quidditch...
Suddenly and without warning, she heard a boy yelling and mimicking Tessa who had stepped out of the way, she managed to not get soaked with water. Laughing, she listened to Tessa egg him on, and hoped that it would encourage him to send another one their way. Ballon fights were great fun, and she wished she had some balloons so that she could really participate!
The balloons kept flying (one even hitting a Professor!), and she managed to sidestep the one coming their way again, still laughing. "Keep them coming! But please let us have some too like Tessa said!" She really wanted to throw balloons.

A water balloon hit the professor right in the face. It broke instantly on contact, soaking his top half while he stumbled backwards a step or two out of surprise. *SPLASH* Left shoe in the water.
"Need me to show you how to skip stones right, prof? It's not that hard." Alice had picked up a rock to demonstrate with and was all prepared to toss it across the lake when she heard some kind of splash. Had Aireyhead fallen in? 'Cause she wasn't saving him. Didn't do that wet stuff, nope.
Except when she turned, he was still very much on land.
And there was a water balloon headed for her head.
.... what? She dropped to the ground immediately, flat on her stomach. No thanks. Dry was good.

Tessa was even more ready this time. Pulling out her wand, she stopped the balloon right in its tracks. She grabbed it out of the air with a grin and placed it on the ground. "Water balloons anyone?" she asked, and quickly cast the Doubling Charm. Soon, there was a whole pile of balloons ready to throw.
"INCOMING!" she yelled, and launched one back at the thrower.

Grinning, she took the balloons that Tessa had pushed towards her. "I am so glad that you can do that charm, because I sure can't." Her magical education was obviously a lot more limited than Tessa's, since she was a Second Year, and not a Sixth.

These questions of how to go about doing this crossed his mind too, "You'd think a good binding charm would work." He nodded, it might be a little difficult to get a saddle around him. But not as hard as getting a hold of him "Now getting a hold of him would be the hardest part. I have no clue, maybe fish?" Or humans if they get to close?
"The trouble with a binding charm is that if you back underwater... you'll want to have a really solid bubblehead charm in place first. Could be really dangerous, because you're just stuck there, you know?" It sort of lost its sparkle when Mo considered that he might drown in the process.
As for bait... "Fish fingers, I think. With tartar sauce. Maybe some chocolate milk." Because, y'know, Barty Henry struck Mo as a chocolate milk type of Giant Squid. "So, Romaletti Asher. You're a seventh year?"
Oooh! The lake! Emma could barely contain her excitement at being back.. being home.. being... free.
Everything lately had been so stressful at home that Emma couldn't even begin to wrap her head around it. Thank Merlin she wasn't going to have to worry about any of that until the holidays. Now the biggest obstacle was going to be to convince her parents that she had good reason to just stay at Hogwarts.
She skipped over to the newly built dock, a nice addition to the Hogwarts grounds in her opinion. A small squeal escaped her lips as soon as she noticed the supply of fishing poles that had also been added - Emma loooooved fishing. Now if only she had some friends to fish with... one could never go wrong with a good fishing buddy...

Michael had seen parts of the lake from his dorm window, he had even walked passed it when they had done classes outside but he had never actually gone down to the water's edge. You seen one lake you've seen them all. But today he felt like paying it a visit. He might even see the giant squid while he was down there.
His intention had been to just walk along the water's edge but the moment he spotted the dock with the fishing poles, he just had to go there instead. His uncle Adri took him fishing lots of times and he had even managed to catch a few.
He was grinning as he walked along the dock and spotted a figure sitting at the end. "Caught anything yet?" He asked as he picked a pole and stood beside the girl.

He moved towards a tree and pulled out the blue bra he had in his pocket. Bra girl wasn't around pity she could see for herself what a great way to use her underthings. Finding a branch to help him out he slung one strap over it and then pulled out the balloons. Pointing his wand in each of them he did an Aguamenti charm.
Getting wet as he tied the balloon which didn't phase him it was worth it or would be. Now could he do two at once? Looking to the bra of course he could. Placing one in each side he held the other strap with his hand and stretched the bra back as far as he could.
"IN COMING"
He let it go and watched as the balloons went flying. Did they hit anyone, did they? He put two more in and let them fly and then two more.
This was fun!

She could go pretty much where she wanted.. though she still had limits within the gates of Hogwarts. And a curfew too she was pretty sure. But this was much more than she was used to.
Eager to explore, the small redhead took to the grounds, practically skipping towards the lake. Though she did slow down significantly before she got too close to it. She still did not like its foreboding presence and did not want to be reminded of the boat ride even if it did all turn out okay. In fact, as she walked slower, she did not look in the direction of the lake at all.
Brynn's thoughts were running a mile a minute about where she should go next and what she could do there and what classes would be like and if any of her new friends would be in there. And she soon became lost in thought, relatively unaware of her surroundings until...
SPLAT!
"AAAHHHHH!" Brynn let out a scream as something hit her square in the back of the head, sending water down her back and drenching her with very cold water. What just happened?! "Who did that?" She whipped her head around, looking for the culprit.
So, the tree house was a new perk. Had the groundskeeper added any other cool tidbits? An ice skating rink (in fall..)? A trampoline? Maybe a ropes course? Ooh. Yes. If there were a suggestion box for the groundskeeper, Schuyler was seriously considering the ropes course bit.
The sixth year was making her way across the grounds when she heard some kid shouting 'incoming.' And then there were some airborne water balloons. Maybe there was a new catapult stationed somewhere? Schuyler glanced over to see. But it was nothing installed by their good groundskeeper. Nope. It was the dweeb, that one from the train. And apparently he made his own makeshift catapult using that branch and a..
.....bra.
Navy blue. Lace trim. Also.. HERS. Again. HONESTLY? Was he HOARDING her bras or something? There was something wrong with him. She thought she had collected all her clothes after she'd cursed him body-bound on the train, but he must have shoved this one in his own trunk, the little twerp.
She walked briskly over to the tree from behind and caught the branch in her fist after his next sling shot success. Off goes the bra - from the tree, of course - and she turned to Dweebie with a pointed look. "This," the garment dangled from a single finger now, "is mine." Did he see? HERS. Pretty. Expensive. Probably ruined. Did he not get that through that 2-knut haircut of a head there the FIRST time?
Her eyes flickered over to one of the boy's victims who just so happened to be his 'girlfriend' from the train. Oh, look. And she was looking this way.
So Schuyler pantsed him. Pants on the ground. Pants on the ground. Lookin' like a fool with yo' pants on the ground.
"Your girlfriend was getting tried of seeing you in women's undergarments."

If Airey had had time to respond to her question, he would have said something along the lines of 'no, but I wouldn't be opposed to you showing me a typical workout you give your quidditch team' - for some student inspired exercise - only the balloon to the face took the words right out of his mouth.
And dripped them all over the stones below.
"Stellar reflexes, Miss Fischer," he commended as he wiped the water from his face with his hand and removed some of the broken balloon bits from his nose. He held it in front of his face and squinted at it. "Looks like muggle balloon material..."
And then he saw another girl, a Ravenclaw (emjay), get hit with one as well. "You need to dry off?" he called out to her.
What in blazing comets was going on and WHY hadn't anyone told him that there was a water balloon fight going on?!

AH! The dancing fox boy from Diagon Alley!
And no, professor cool dude was not going to buy him any less of the astronomer's rage that his suit was wet. "Apology not accepted!" he called back with a smirk as he administered a Hot Air Charm on himself to dry off.
He then turned his attention to the Quidditch Captain, his smirk growing even more. "I trust you are familiar with Mizurus boru, Miss Fischer," he grinned at the Gryffindor as he twirled his wand in his fingers. "We need to show these students how a proper water balloon fight is done at Hogwarts."
His smirk only grew further as he traced one clockwise and one anti-clockwise circle in the air over the lake and formed a perfect sphere out of the lake's water. He bounced in place a bit as he turned his attention back to the first year, eager to throw a little fun into the mix when he saw just what the boy was flinging water balloons with and his jaw hung open like a fish gasping for air.
"WHERE IN MERLIN'S BEARD DID YOU GET THAT LADY SUPPORT GARMENT?!"
And then his question was somewhat answered by the appearance of another Gryffindor who.....pantsed the boy.
Sweet solstice he was seeing far too much of his students this term already.

Emma hadn't been sitting there for more than ten minutes when suddenly she felt a presence beside her. He seemed friendly enough, though - Inquiring if she had caught anything.
"Nothing yet..but I'm hopeful." She replied cheerfully, grinning up at him. Now things were looking up. A potential fishing buddy!
"It's nice to meet you, I'm Emma.." She smiled, setting the pole in one of the holders and extending her hand for him to shake. The importance of a good introduction and a warm handshake exchange had been drilled into her mind for years by her father. Always a businessman; always formal but friendly nevertheless - even at home.

Well she was certainly optimistic, wasn't she? But then..."You have to be hopeful when it comes to fishing." He said as he sat down beside her. "Fish are really rather tricky little things." And quite frustrating as well.
He swapped the pole from one hand to the other and shook her hand. "Pleasure to meet you also Emma. My name is Michael." He let go of her her hand and looked around her for a moment.
"I like fishing a lot." He said but there was a frown on his face. "You have no bait. How are you going to catch any fish without bait?"

Except when she turned, he was still very much on land.
And there was a water balloon headed for her head.
.... what? She dropped to the ground immediately, flat on her stomach. No thanks. Dry was good.

His gaze shifted from the Ravenclaw to the Hufflepuff when he heard his, er, title being called. "PERFECTLY ALRIGHT!" he waved back. "MY SUIT IS ANOTHER ISSUE ENTIRELY!"
Because it was WET and therefore had been defiled. Ish.
He began to scan around the area looking for who it was that has broken one of his classroom rules - disrespecting the suit - when the answer instead found him.
The girl stopped it with her wand. Bart should have seen that coming she was older so she'd know these type of things. Gosh he felt dumb and before he could react he was getting a water balloon in the face. He wiped the water from his eyes laughing, now this was fun. He had someone doing this with him. Looking at the Tessa he laughed.
Glancing he saw pretty on the ground covering her head, "Alice it's just water" He yelled towards her. Did she hear, well she'd hear another balloon coming. He looked to see if his third balloon had hit anyone. Had it?
O_o
Oh great.. How was she always where he was having fun. Brynny was going to be so mad. He jumped to hide behind the tree. Maybe she wouldn't see him and maybe he could shot a few more balloons to get the attention away from him. Yes that was exactly what he would do.
He bent down to grab another balloon and when he got up the bra was gone and bra girl was standing there. Crickey where did she come from. He was so focused on the people he was getting with the water balloons he didn't notice her. He looked to the bra and just laughed, "It's a great sling shot you should try. Want a go?" He was really going to give her a go and hand her the balloon.
WHAT THE.....
He looked down his pants were on the ground, bra girl did what?
akjdfklajdlajfdklajflkajfkldsjlfajdlsakfjdslak
IN FRONT OF ALICE... SHE DID THIS IN FRONT OF PRETTY!!!
He looked out to the group and saw Professor cool dude looking at him and Brynny and EVERYONE else at the lake. Really she had to do that. He didn't even try to jump down to get them he turned and busted the water balloon above her head. Once the balloon was broken he hurried to hide himself. Glancing at the others as he fixed his pants. "Keep your bra I'm done with it anyway."
He huffed and stormed through the group to head away from the lake, but he stopped to look at Brynny should he say something he didn't mean to hit her, but it was just water balloons it was fun she'd get over it.

Reason: yeah had to add something..
"I agree completely." She replied, wiping her hands on the front pockets of her dress. Dirt. Whatever.
"Michael.." Emma nodded, looking over at her poke when he mentioned her lack of fish bait.
"Oh no... I have bait.. Marshmellows... Muggle treats... Perfect for catching a fish..." She giggled nervously, gesturing towards her lace and Ravenclaw blue bag. She could only hope that he wasn't going to be the type to judge her for coming from a half-muggle family. Most people she had come across so far hadn't been so kind after finding that she wasn't of pure descent.
"I'm.. Um. Glad you like fishing. I know a lot of people don't enjoy it.. but it's always nice to.. Um.. find a kindred spirit..." Emma rambled on, anxiously biting her lip.
Oh Merlin.

Marshmallows?
Michael looked at Emma and then at her bag which apparently contained muggle treats which she was going to use for bait and he burst out laughing. "I'm sorry." He said in between chuckles. "I've just never seen candy being used as bait before." Was she sure that worked? He had a feeling that it didn't considering she hadn't caught any fish yet.
He managed to stop laughing when she spoke again and he couldn't stop his eyebrows from raising. "Kindred spirit, huh?" There was a smile on his face. "I like that."
Putting his pole back down, Michael stood up and held out a hand to Emma. "Come on we're going to find some proper bait."

"Well.. with the Muggles it generally works pretty well..." Emma shrugged, taking note of the huge grin on his face. He really was nice. And he wasn't judgmental about her heritage at all. Things really were starting to look up.
"Guess it doesn't work so well out here!" She laughed, tossing back her brown curls, a matching grin forming on her own face as he took her hand and began leading her away on an adventure for better bait.
"Okay, let's do this!"
"Hahahah well i don't have a girlfriend yet..." he smiled and blushed a little bit. "I am not that popular." he smirked. "Awww well i don't have my bathing suit with me either." Kace said throwing his hands up. "I am glad we got that covered."
"Oh a frisbee is sort of like a flat disc and then you have to hold it a certain way to get it to glide over to the next person." he said trying to explain right. "Here let's go on the field and do it." he said holding out his hand for her to follow him.
She raised an eyebrow, surprised, "Oh? I thought a girl would have snatched you up already." Melek giggled and smiled at him, thinking that his blush was cute, "You arent? Oh... well... I guess that is good because popular people can be such snobs, ya know?" Mel teased him and laughed, "You dont either?" It wasnt much of a question but just to confirm by repetition type thing... "Glad that it is covered as well." She beamed at him then wrinkled her nose as he described someth, "I guess that sounds fun? I mean it is better than quidditch probably..." Melek stuck her tongue out to show her dislike of the game then took his hand and followed him, smiling a little.

"Really? My grandfather's a muggle and I've never seen him use candy as bait." But hey, maybe it was a new thing. His grandad was old after all.
She had an infectious laugh and Michael couldn't help but laugh along with her. "No it doesn't seem to." He pulled her back towards to the shoreline of the lake. "You don't mind getting dirty, do you?" Because they were about to dig in the dirt for worms.
"So are you new to Hogwarts? Or have I just been oblivious to those around me again?" It was true he had been rather quiet and reclusive the past couple of terms. That was about to change though.

"Yeah.. my Grandfather uses marshmallows and corn a lot.. he's caught quite a few fish..." Emma replied, her hazel eyes lighting up as she spoke. Her grandfather was one of her most favorite people ever. He was much warmer and easygoing than her father.
"I don't mind getting dirty at all!" She replied cheerfully, tying her hair back into a bun.
"Just had to make sure my hair wasn't in the way." Her hair was always so uncooperative. If only she had been born a metamorph. Oh well, beggars couldn't be choosers.
"Oh no... I'm not new... I'm just... less of a recluse than in years past.." She blushed. Emma hadn't been much of a fan of people, and even less so upon arriving at Hogwarts two years ago. All the bullying had left a bad taste in her mouth. This year, however she had decided to be more friendly and leave the past behind her. She was growing up, and this was going to be her year.

Her grandad sounded pretty cool actually and Emma thought a lot of him with the way her face lit up when she talked about him.
Michael grinned at her, glad that she wasn't worried about getting dirty. It was annoying when he couldn't do the things he liked because they thought they were going to a little messy. His dad used to be like that but he had relaxed a whole lot over the years. As he watched while she put her hair up into a bun, it reminded him of Zahra's hair. She had curly hair like Emma's as well.
*sigh* He missed his BFF.
"You have nice hair." Uhm...what? Things seemed to come out of his mouth at times before he could think about it first. He felt his face flush as he rubbed the back of his neck. What were these girls doing to him?
He noticed that she was blushing too and a chuckle made its way out of his mouth. "Looks like it's not only fishing we have in common." He flashed her a grin before crouching down and digging in the dirt in the search for worms. "You got any siblings at school?"
"'Elcome." Cat replied, or tried to since she'd just put a pear slice in her mouth. Oops. She was still pondering on grape flavor cupcakes and nodded eagerly at Delilah's question, though. She swallowed carefully before speaking again. "I do have a taste tester. He was the first one to try my maple bacon, brown sugar and cream cheese cupcakes." She was super proud of that recipe. "That got me into an awesome culinary program in Paris this summer." So, she probably owed Aidan more cupcakes for that, right?
Cat looked out at the lake too, squinting. "Have you been sitting here long? Spotted any merpeople?" She desperately wanted to try out what little Mermish she'd managed to learn.
Delilah grinned at her friend before picking up a couple more grapes from the bag. What? She couldn't stop eating them, okay? They tasted lovely. "I wish I shared your enthusiasm for cooking." SIGH. But, no one could blame her for not trying. She attempted to cook over the summer but yeah. It wasn't something she was ever going to be good at. "I do love to eat, though!".. Paris? She gave a small laugh. "That is awesome. How was it? Did you have fun cooking in Paris?".. PARIS. One of her dream destinations.
... "Not yet. I was planning on going for a swim later.. maybe I'd spot one then?" That would be so cooool.
