The Black Lake lies behind the castle and though it may seem like the water is calm on the surface, you will learn that that is not the case underwater. Creatures have made it their home from Merpeople to Grindylows. The most notable is Bartholomew Henry, the Giant Squid. The lake is a beautiful place for you to hang out.
Mr.Kirby has built a dock and has supplied it with some fishing rods. The lures have been charmed to prevent any magical creatures of the lake from getting hooked. The Groundskeeper will not tolerate any use of live bait, and is running a strict CATCH and RELEASE policy. Failure to follow these two rules will result in serious consequences.

So... History of Magic homework.
With his things in his bag, Alec slowly made his way down towards the lake. When he had gone to collect the Faience clay from the box outside of McCormack's office, he had thought that sitting outside would be a good idea. The weather was looking up, yeah? And he was still bundled up. But... yeah. No. This wasn't a good idea. Why did this require so much walking, again?
When he finally reached a spot near the lake, the boy reached into his bag and pulled out a blanket. Placing that down on the ground, he sat down, letting his bag sit comfortably on his lap. There. Reaching into his bag, he pulled out the essentials: the Faience clay, his textbook, his History of Magic journal and, of course, a little box filled with some stale cookies.
See? Essentials.
A cookie was taken out and he munched on it happily while flipping his journal open to the right page. Amulets. And... what was that first step? Mould the amulet into a shape? Any shape? ... Erm...? Maybe he should have thought about this beforehand. Maybe.

Lake. Grace hadn't been down to the lake for a while. She had been really tired lately. So had been napping a lot more. But she thought she'd come down before, but she figured she'd probably just forgot that she wanted to come down here. She was forgetting a lot lately. That was really not a good idea at all. But she had finally gotten down to the lake. She was glad, because it was really pretty. Grace hummed to herself as she wandered slowly down to the lake. Her legs were hurting now, which was not good. She was feeling so old lately and she was only 11. That was not good a sign at all.
The firstie sighed to herself, before she sat down on the floor, leaning back against the tree. Maybe she would have a little nap now.

Caelen ended up here. She didn't know how, but she started walking and ended up here. And she was perfectly okay with that. Because this was a looot more soothing than the castle full of old people up there. More soothing by a long shot.
Laying down by the lake, she rolled over to where her bag was and took out a book. Propping it up against her knees, the little redhead started reading. Because this area was so nice and peaceful. And it made sense, unlike those old people back at the castle. Why them and why THIS? She really wanted to find out. But she didn't know how. The kid was curious as a cat and twice as dangerous. At least that's what her mom said about her. And now the kid was starting to see why.But right now, reading. Later she'd go and start thinking about the old but not old people again. Because just that was a brain twister.
But soon, reading was negated by falling asleep wit a book on her face. The short girl could still breathe, but it was kind of hard to see what she was doing. But it was a nice nap. Because she was tired and the lake was nice. As she breathed in and out, the book page fluttered. It was caught on her nose somehow. At least the eleven year old was an interesting sight to see. Sleeping by the lake with her bag next to her and her book on her face.
And even better, it wasn't cold anymore! That was a big plus right there. Because it wasn't fun walking outside when it was freezing. Which was also why she took all of her candy eating inside during this time. No use trying to eat a peppermint while getting your jeans wet with ice. But it was kind of fun to play in and twirl around in while singing songs from old Disney movies. Of course she only did this in the pathway so no one could see her, but still. It was fun.
And she did feel bad that she was so grumpy earlier. But it was weird and she was probably just tired or something. That always made her grumpy. Or maybe she was hungry. Or just wanted to relax. Any of these things could've made her so short... emotionally. She was ALREADY short physically. Hahah, self depreciating humor.

Though it was still cold out, Caterina had decided to have a picnic of sorts. She'd brought a blanket and a basket of food and now all she was missing was an Aidan. It was time for the boy and herself to have a chat because they hadn't in a while and she missed having him around.
She spread out the blanket far enough away where they wouldn't have the chance of being splashed it the giant squid happened to be in a jovial mood, and she sat down. She stared at the food an waited. Would it be rude to start eating without him?
It was actually nice to get out of the castle for some relaxation. And who better to hang around with than Caterina Moretti? Aside from the food that he was promised and was almost always pretty much guaranteed, Cat was good company.
Aidan walked over to her once he spotted the girl by the lake. "Ooo, fancy," he commented at the blanket. It was like a proper picnic instead of a 'Hey Aidan I brought you some bacon'.
He didn't waste a second making himself comfortable, dropping to the ground and laying on his stomach, propped by his elbows. "Nice to see you, Caterina. What did you bring me?"

"I would by lying if I said I was fine," she told him with a soft laugh. "But things could always be worse, and I'm just stinking to that," she told him with a nod. "At least we can still move around and have most of our mind- although losing my memory is quite frustrating," she said with a sigh. She nodded at his comment of being worried. She was worried about a lot of things. "My father? He barely recognized that I had grey hair when I went to see him briefly over the holiday," she said with a soft laugh. "He is heavily involved in his work and it's unlikely he'll notice the changes at first. As for leaving Hogwarts..." she shrugged. "Most likely if I leave, it will be because my father's work has taken him elsewhere," she explained. "And so far he's pretty settled in the area."
"What will your parents think?" she asked tentatively. After all, if one of Sander's siblings was thinking of transferring, they may not want to after their experience this year.
Sander leaned back to look at Tessa. He listened as she shared her thoughts and feelings about the aging illness they were presently experiencing and nodded in agreement when she reminded him that things could be a lot worse.
"I guess I can't dispute that fact. You're right, the situation could be a lot worse," Sander admitted to Tessa as he brushed his fingers through her hair, tucking greying strands behind her ear.
Tessa's optimism and practicality never ceased to amaze him.She always saw things half full, never half empty.
He smiled when she mentioned that her father barely noticing her aging. He didn't know whether that was a good thing or not. He suspected that if he was in her shoes, he would have been a tad upset. But he had to also admit that in a situation like this, it would have been better if his parents hadn't noticed.
As it was, his father had threatened to go to the Ministry of Magic demanding something be done. He was glad that his mother had been able to dissuade him. But he could still tell that she was upset. Very upset. When he had gone home during Christmas, he had caught her crying when she thought no one was around. Sander sighed.
"My parents? Let's just say neither of them are happy. I almost didn't come back to school. My mother wanted me to see a group of Healers in Switzerland. But as you can see I managed to convince them otherwise," Sander reluctantly smiled at Tessa.
Sander sighed deeply and shook off the sadness that had overwhelmed him a few minutes ago. Maybe Tessa was right. Maybe it was good that he had found a release.
But then he remembered Tessa had been witness to that and began to feel embarrassed. He kept his eyes averted not being able to look her in the eye now.
"Um....thanks....thanks for sitting here with me." Sander thanked her, rubbing his neck with his hand now feeling awkward.

Bliss felt so full of energy for some reason, unlike how many of her fellow students seemed to be feeling. It was strange, but she wasn't really paying it much thought. She was just happy to have some of her old friends back and to be settling back into life at Hogwarts. Things couldn't really be better for her and in celebration of her good mood, she'd decided to go down to the lake.
Perhaps going on her own wasn't much of a 'celebration,' but it didn't bother her.
Although the sun was shining, it was also quite chilly, but not uncomfortably so. With another burst of energy, the Sixth Year began skipping right through the tree and to the waters edge, being careful not to fall in. That would not be good at all and would certainly spoil her current happy state of mind. Bliss took a step back as a precaution and spun on her heel, only to be faced with - eeep, a girl. "Oh." Blink. She paused. This was awkward. "I didn't see you there. Hi," she greeted, blinking at the girl in front of her. The youngster looked as if she'd been relaxing, hopefully she hadn't ruined that for her.

As Lux walked along the grounds towards the lake, she could really feel that it was almost spring. It was an exciting feeling, and she hoped that the water was getting warm enough that she and Lucas would be able to go swimming soon. It was a part of his best friend duties that he would have to go in there, as it was that he go shopping with her, as well as to Quidditch games.
Stopping for a moment to take off her shoes and roll up her pant legs, she proceeded to walk towards the shore and then put her feet in the water.

Lost in her own world, Lux was a little startled when she heard someone speak to her. "Okay, mother," she joked with him as she stepped back onto the shore. "It really is rather nice in the water though." He might like it unless he was suffering from that coldness thing a lot of older people did. That sucked.
Looking at him properly, she was surprised to see just how much better he was looking. More like his cute former self. "You are looking really nice, Bay. How is your knee?" She knew that recovering from something like that could take a little while.

Laughing along with him, Lux was happy to see that he was doing well. She had been worried about him. "Well, that's great! I was wanting to swim in the lake," she explained to him, not sure of he knew about her plans to see the Giant Squid. "Me and Lucas want to see what is under the surface, and see the Giant Squid and merpeople. And what if there is treasure down there!" She gasped as she thought about how incredibly awesome that would be. It wasn't having gold or possessions that interested her, it was more the thrill of finding something that was at the bottom of a lake. Besides, she could always imagine it was like finding pirate treasure. Wouldn't it be awesome if pirates had come to Hogwarts?
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
The weather was pretty good today so this Gryffindor decided to do his Charms homework outside near the Black Lake. He had left his bag in the common room and only had a small note crumbled up in his hand. When he reached his destination, Kevin looked around for a good place where not many other students were and found a nice big tree where he could sit against.
Sitting down, Kevin folded out the piece of parchment and flattened it on his knee. The incantation and wand movement to get his normal pitch black hair color back again were written on it. He had hated the gray hair before, then he started to like it but he was still happy he would get his old hair color back. IF everything went alright of course....
He decided to practise saying the incantation first because he had to point the wand at his OWN body. He did NOT want to make any mistakes. If he had decided to work with someone he wouldn't have cared if something happened to said person. Gosh, he was so unsocial... "Se-senec---Senectus...Reversus" See! good thing he practised first... "Senectus..Reversus...Senectus Reversus" He continued to practise the incantation until he was certain he had it right.

Holy Kneazle! The Professor was speaking her language and he was doing it fluently too. This of course had Lex nodding in approval. So very true.
"I figure as much but go figure, you get looks when you tell people their snogs mean nothing to you." Apparently it was offensive or something? Like she said, she didn't know and didn't claim to be an expert at this. There was a point where she couldn't agree though, if only for personal reasons. "Leading people on is mean." She informed the Professor who clearly didn't think it was if he was suggesting it. "I don't think I would. Imagine if they found out--o'course they could just not care, like I wouldn't care--but that's not how people work...or so I've been told anyway." Something about not everyone being able to pretend. How in Merlin's beard was that her fault. Pfft.
Consider her nose wrinkled. "Not all girls are looking for eternity Sir." Just the thought was enough to have her cringing. "That's such a long time. Don't you reckon people would get bored?"
Oh! Oh! Oh! Just look how excited he was about her flying carpet. It WAS epic news afterall and she had Mikey to thank-- wait what? ".......Eh........I didn't say they were. Not for people my age anyway and not without Ministry clearance or something like that." She said waving it off dissmisively and hoping he wouldn't question it. "Flies like a dream."

So... he needed a shape.
Alec glanced down at the clay, a small frown forming on his face. This was the only part he really needed to decide on; everything else was pretty much set in stone, yeah? He took up a stale cookie and starting eating it before flipping open his textbook. Inspiration, you know. Maybe something would be said about what kind of shapes amulets are. ... Or... there'd be pictures. Yeah. Pictures would be more useful.
Landing on the page about amulets, the Hufflepuff read and stared... and read... and stared some more. This was starting to get tiring really quickly and he hadn't... really... done a lot. ... Shapes. Right. Shapes... ... maybe something like an oval? Or was that too simple? Maybe... a shield? The symbol he had selected said something about strength and... shields... could represent strength, right?
... This was hard. And hurting his head.
Shrugging, he finished the cookie, closed the book with a snap and picking up the piece of clay. Shield it was. Moulding was taking place, which included a lot of patience and trial and error moments. A lot of trial and error moments. Frown. The clay was just... being stubborn. Yeah. It wasn't down to the fact that his fingers were old and moving them so much soon became difficult.
Oh! Shield! ... Right? Right. Satisfied, he reached for his wand and cast a simple, "Duro!" There.
Schuyler grinned. "Charm and good looks?" That sounded about right. If someone were to ask her now, she could produce an all-too-long list of why she loved the other girl. But when it came to why she'd initially been drawn to her, that was something she couldn't adequately explain in words. She just was. And she didn't question it either.
Obviously.
It was kind of funny because Schuyler vaguely remembered discussing something along these lines before. And both of their views seemed to have altered some since then. For the most part, their relationship didn't have a lot of difficulties. Or this was what Schuyler believed. The fact that everything came so naturally with them, even far before they were dating, made the relationship smooth sailing. "I agree with that statement," she said with a soft smile. Her eyes stayed on Olly's until she leaned in again, almost without her mind processing what her body was doing, and she kissed her one more time, the affection evident in her lips.
By the time she pulled away, she the ends of her mouth were turned up a bit. Her hands found Olly's without having to avert her eyes to them. "Do you want to snuggle in our sweater and find that potion?" Yeeeees?
Charm and good looks? Olly smirked. "Probably." Though she wasn't serious. Actually she didn't think that had been it. "Or your persistence." THAT was more likely. Somehow she'd had the feeling that she didn't really have a choice but to try out the mirrors with Schuyler so she'd simply gone along with it. And good thing she had, too.
She'd even share her toad with Schuyler now.
It was true though. The fact that she was dating someone right now hadn't changed her opinion on relationships per se. This was just...special. Also, she got kisses. And she could be sure that only SHE got those kisses. That was definitely something too. The thought of sharing Schuyler with anyone was enough to make her want to be in a relationship with her. Of course, it had other perks too. And surprisingly enough Olly didn't really have problems with following their rules either. So, all was well. Perfect actually.
Olly grinned when Schuyler leaned in to kiss her. The grin was still on her lips by the time they'd separated, though she'd somehow managed to shuffle her body even closer to her girlfriend's. "I did not expect our conversation to take that turn." Not complaining though. Definitely not complaining.
In reply to the Gryffindor's next suggestion, Olly's lips curled into a small smirk. "You know how much I love snuggling..." Heh.
So he hadn't really been around the grounds much but he took today as the perfect opportunity. It was better then never exploring at all anyway. he gathered his current reading book and meandered down towards the lake and found a place by a tree and made it his temporarily home by sitting, the spot was his now. his.

Hes was actually surprised he was still reading this book, he checked it out of the library three whole days ago, and that was a long time to be on one book for him.

"As every school-age wizard knows, the fact that we fly on broomsticks is probably our worst-kept secret. No Muggle illustration of a witch is complete without a broom and however ludicrous these drawings are (for none of the broomsticks depicted by Muggles would stay up in the air for a moment), they remind us that we were careless for far too many centuries to be surprised that broomsticks and magic are inextricably linked in the Muggle mind." Quidditch Through the Ages is what he was reading, at least he was until he was jabbed in the side...
"the hell............" Oh... Delilah....
"Hi Delilah." Hi and thanks for the jab in the ribs. he gave her a smile as he rubbed his side where he poked her

Wouldn't it be awesome if pirates had come to Hogwarts?
what….. swim in the lake?? "are you crazy Lux.. i wouldn't go swimming in there.. splashing around near the shore and putting your feet in are different.. but you don't know that everything in there is errrr…. nice?" he said really concerned for her.. he would have to have a talk with Lucas.. about this swim..
no way this could be safe… if it was he would be seeing a lot of people swimming in it.. Bay grabbed her arms, gently of course.. "promise me you won't go in there.." unless you had a tank or submarine to go down there.. he started to get scared… what if something happened to her.. Bay couldn't let that happen.. *que sad face*

It surprised Lux when Bay started to get worried about her. She had not thought that it could possibly be dangerous down there what with the merpeople and fish and other things besides. And the Giant Squid could be friendly for all she knew! But... he seemed really worried, and she did not want to upset him. "Okay, I promise I won't go down there." She meant it too, as much as she wanted to explore and see if there was treasure down there. She did not like seeing Bay worried about her. She gave him a smile.

This was the last step, yeah?
One.
Last.
Step.
And then he could have some more of the stale cookies he had brought along because he was hungry. Alec glanced over at the box longingly. Soon. ... Soon. Instead, he reached right over -- OW! -- and grabbed his journal. Flip... flip... flip... And stop! Right at the page where he had made notes about that joint lesson they had had.
BLINK. Djed. He had to pronounce that. Numerous times. With the spell. ... Why... did he get the feeling that this wasn't going to go well?
... He shook his head. He was going to do this, yeah? Otherwise it would include another trip over towards McCormack's office to grab some clay. And what if he was looking? And he noticed the Head Boy being greedy taking some more clay. Would he be mad or...? He hoped not.
Clearing his throat, he raised his wand and tried to concentrate on the clay and the symbol he wanted to carve. "Intaglio Djed... Djed... Djed..." Hard pronunciation was hard.
But the symbol was there, wasn't it? Which meant that he was done. GRIN. Reaching over and ignoring the pain in his lower back, he grabbed another cookie and munched on it. Good stuff, this was.

PHEW!!!!! Bay relaxed… "thank you" he said while starting to kick his feet in the water.. he smiled at her.. "so how are your classes so far.. and your house..hows Hufflepuff?" he was surprised that he hasn't asked her this before.
moving out of the water he sat on its edges still with his feet in.. moving his toes around… "I'm happy I have some free time.. I feel like I'm going crazy some times" he admitted.

It was good to see that he was relaxed now, since she did not like him worried about her despite how cute it was. "Everything is going well, though sometimes I feel as if the classes aren't teaching too much and just... throwing me into situations." Not that she didn't enjoy practical work - it was her favourite - it was just that she sometimes wished more teaching would be done. "Hufflepuff is nice, though sometimes I still wish I was in Gryffindor." It wasn't as bad now, because Hufflepuff was still a wonderful place to be and it wasn't as if she couldn't see her Gryffindor friends a lot anyway.
"We can do something fun while you have your free time." Sitting beside him, she raised her brow before she remembered that he had OWLs as well as Quidditch practice. On top of this weird ageing thing. Poor Bay, it made her worry for him in case he was overworking himself too much. "How are you liking everything? Do you think you will do well on your OWLs? Ooh, and I was cheering for you in the game, you did well." It was awesome that he had managed to catch a Snitch.
