You may have walked past this tree, or you may have been one of few who stopped to admire the towering Beech Tree that sat directly beside the Lake for many years. Mr.Kirby has taken it upon himself to really let it stand out, with the help of your Librarian. Sitting only a few feet from the tree is small Wooden Box, that looks like a birdhouse. Only it's not. The glass doors reveal piles of books sitting within.
Also inside is a small note stuck to the back.

You need a place to read. Look behind you again, and you'll understand why Mr.Kirby, and Mr.Kitridge chose to put the small library by the Beech Tree. It gives off this relaxing aura around it. So take a load off, read a school book, or another that was generously donated by another student.

"Hello Adi" said Mizu " Its nice to meet other Hufflepuffs that aren't way older than me."
"Thanks,'' Adi said taking the pieces of pineapples and popping one into his mouth. Delicious stuff here. Well, this was comfortable. Hanging out under the shade of the Beech tree, munching on sweets and talking about fantasy books. The latter two were some of his favourites just so you know.
"I agree. It fun to get lost in a world where stuff are made up and anything can happen.'' That's the fun thing about imagination. "So, would you prefer to use magic or weapons? I think I'd go with a sword.'' Magic seemed to have an advantage but a sword would be cool to use. Like a Ninja!
"Nice to meet you, Mizu.'' Pause as he munched on another piece of pineapple. "There are a few other Puffers who aren't much older. There's Kace, Lux, Tobias, Hazel, Bri and maybe one or two that I'm forgetting. You should get to know them.'' Because they were House mates, after all.

Mizu listened intently to Adi's question and then answered "I would choose magic, because even though weapons are awesome they need constant maintenance to keep in a fighting condition."Said Mizu."Plus magic is there when you need it and gone when you don't."
"Oh I know Lux and Dylan." answered Mizu."Dylan is another second year that goes here."
"By the way what is the best fantasy book that you have ever read?"asked Mizu.

Because... just look at that head of blonde hair! Awesome. Very awesome.
They should be proud of him? "Of course!" ... And what was he doing now? A jig? Alec tilted his head and watched the boy curiously. "Is that the leprechaun dance?" And more importantly, did Tag want to teach him how to do it?
... Grandpa life.
If anyone else had said that, the eighteen year old would have been slightly offended but... it was Tag. "The grandpa life is... good. I miss my usual hair, you know." Among other things like being able to walk properly without getting back pains but... that wasn't important. Tag would understand, right? "How's the leprechaun life suiting you? Found a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow yet?"
What was Alec doing? Tag was eyeing him curiously. Why was he reaching out his hands to the blonde boy? Nope. Tag took orders from no one. Nods. So the boy just stood by his friend's feet. Just to tease him. How long would Alec keep this up?
Excellent. Proud leprechauns were always happy leprechauns. "Yep. All in its mighty glory." A leprechaun dance, that was. Tag could try and teach Alec, but he wasn't too good at it himself so it might just all turn into a train wreck. "I could teach you. But I'm not a very good teacher." Just saying. Especially when it came to dancing.
"You haven't been using the hair shampoos I got you for Christmas?" He didn't just buy it to embarrass Alec. That was Tag's way of being helpful. "It hasn't rained recently so there's been no rainbows. So, no gold." That was basic facts Alec. Very basic. He should've known that. Tag just shook his head in disapproval.

"Magic is better,'' Adi said with a nod. And Mizu did have a good point about weapons. "So, do you have any other favourite types of books? I read a little crime books but they're not really my thing.'' Some of them were kind of boring...
"I know Dylan, too.'' He couldn't forget that kid even if he tried. But they had become friends after their little run in with each other at Scribbulus. "He and I got off on the wrong foot but we became friends at the end of last term after he started teaching me to play the guitar.'' Speaking of Dylan, Adi hadn't hung out with him as of late.
Best fantasy books? Adi's fave question! "Animorphs,'' he said promptly. "It's a series, actually. Ever heard of it?''

"Other types of books?" Mumbled Mizu." I like supernatural type books, but not the intense ones they scare me." Scare was an understatement the last time he read a scary book he hadn't slept for a week.
"You know Dylan too that's great!"said Mizu excitedly." We should all hang out sometime." Hearing Adi say he could play guitar Mizu perked up a bit more than he already was.
"Cool you can play guitar?" gawked Mizu." I can only play the flute, clarinet, and the drums." Last time he tried the guitar he nearly burned down his house, but Mizu decided to keep that to himself for now.
"I remember seeing that book in the library, but I never read it." answered Mizu. "I'll make sure to give it a try when I next get the chance."

Supernatural books. "Those aren't bad,'' Adi agreed. He grinned. "So I guess you don't like horror movies, then?'' Oh sure. He was playing tough by grinning but Adi did get frightened before after watching a horror movie for the first time and made his mom stay with him until he fell asleep because he was so afraid the big, scary masked guy was going to get him. Anyway, that was his secret and he wasn't going to share it with anyone.
"Yep, I know him. Now that sounds like a good idea,'' the second year said enthusiastically. "Just a couple of Puffer guys hanging out and doing guy stuff.'' That would be cool.
Mizu could only play those three instruments? ONLY? Adi stared at the boy in awe. "Dude! That's awesome!'' Yes, yes it was! He wondered since when Mizu started learning instruments. Adi nodded. "You do that. Maybe you can give some books I should check out, too.'' Because he like reading as many books as he could.

Tag watched Alec curiously. The brunette seemed really impatient and just kept staring at Tag. The blonde shook his head, completely not understanding what was going on here. Why was he pointing at Tag's hair? Very shiny and styled, yes, that was known. But "There's this thing called speech, Alec." Tag told him, as he laughed from his spot, still not moving.
That dance wasn't spectacular or anything. But when one wasn't a descendent of a leprechaun it probably could've been seen as amazing either way. That was an average dance. "Don't trust me with dancing. I'm sure I'd step on your feet too. " He could not dance to save his life.
So he was saving the shampoo. But finishing his others first. No shampoo bottle left behind. " Of course. Understandable" He simply said, nodding. Do their trick? Psh. " It should. The bottle said it was for gray hair treatment. So it's an extra shampoo product!" Thoughtful friend was thoughtful. Then an augery was mentioned? "Wy do I need one in the future?" He asked his best friend confusedly.

Hayley had pretty much forgotten what she left the common room to do that day, leaving her to wander the grounds, slightly more than confused. It was a sign of old age, that forgetfulness, yes. So here she was, creaking joints and all and what was she doing? Nothing.
Only, it was a rather lovely day and she intended to enjoy it. How, you might ask? By sleeping, of course. It was a Saturday and there was this large Birch tree that seemed just right for the job. That was settled, she decided as she rested her head against the trunk and tuned out the world.

Why was Tag shaking his head? Didn't he understand his hand motions? Deflated, Alec shot Tag more puppy dog eyes. And here he had thought that the boy would understand what he was talking about. Were his hand gestures not good enough? "I want to ruffle your hair." Simple and straight to the point. And a grin was added in there too, in case Tag needed to be swayed.
Of course the dance was spectacular. Grandpa Alec was practically grinning with pride and ready to give Tag all the cheese and crackers he wanted. You know, if he had any. "Maybe it's a good thing we haven't danced with each other before." Squashed toes, you know.
See? Tag understood his shampoo using decisions. "Thanks for understanding, mate," He knew that he could count on this Gryffindor on something like this. Nodnod. "Grey hair treatment... I hope it gets rid of all of them." Because he didn't want to keep this grey hair forever. No. But there was no time to dwell on that since the sixth year was asking about the Augurey idea. So, grinning, Alec explained, "See... an Augurey can predict when it's about to rain. If it's raining and sunny, there'll be a rainbow, right? Then you can complete your leprechaun duties." Failproof plan.

Puppy eyes? Puppy eyes don't work on Tag. You know why? Because Tag used the puppy eyes. And it usually worked for him. So Tag had this natural force field against Alec's puppy eyes. Oh, but then Alec wanted hair ruffles. And the blonde glanced up at his hair. But LOOK AT IT. It was all nice and proper looking, slightly spiked, but somewhat flat towards ONE DIRECTION. "I took so much time brushing my hair this morning." Brushing it, you know. Important job. NO.
Hair ruffles denied.
Tag couldn't dance to save his life. Terrible. Terrible dancer. 'Dancer'. "Yes. Exactly. I'd be stepping on your toes more than half the time. That, or I'd be so focused on counting the steps in my head that I wouldn't know where my feet where." Did that make sense? He sure hoped so. Alec would get it. Hopefully.
Of course he would understand. Tag was a hair lover and hair carer as well? So, hair was really important to him and he maintained it at a good standard. Tag just knew these things. "No problem. I'm very big on hair, so I want you to look at your best. Even if your face says the opposite. Hair's important. Gotta keep it at good quality... Yes. Gray hairs can go away." Gray hair's were definitely not a part of that 'hair looking at your best' catergory. Shooo. Then Alec was explaining about the Augurey, which made more sense to Tag, now that he thought about it. Rainbows, yes, nods. Then leprechaun duties? The blonde shook his head. "I have leprechaun duties? What are my duties?" He clearly didn't know them.
Supernatural books. "Those aren't bad,'' Adi agreed. He grinned. "So I guess you don't like horror movies, then?'' Oh sure. Mizu Shivered "No I don't like horror movies" he said."Some are okay in the sense that they have some funny moments, but other wise they need to stay away from me."
"Thanks it took me awhile to get to learn the flute, but I got there." beamed Mizu. This is wonderful! Having a friend who shares the same interest as you.Mizu chuckled at what he said next."Don't worry about it I can only play a few songs with each and even still I tend to mess up a lot."
"That does sounds great" said Mizu. They could do all sorts of things like watch moves and play sports it would be amazing.
Any books he could recommend. Mizu thought for a moment before giving his answer "Try the Kane Chronicles its a good mythology book it is also filled with epic fight scenes that involve magic and weapons of all sorts."

Still grinning, Adi responded, "Then I'm guessing you like comedy movies.'' He paused. "When you get older you won't mind horror movies, I'm sure.'' At least that's what Adi was hoping would happen for him. Scary stuff was cool just not too extreme...
"Was the flute the most difficult one for you?'' the Puffer asked curiously. He definitely knew he wanted to learn more instruments but he wanted to know how challenging the others were.
"And we can watch a few horror movies,'' Adi joked. Nah. He won't do that to his new friend. "I'm only kidding. We'll watch loads of action packed films. And Superhero films.'' Because Superheroes were just way too cool!
Kane Chronicles? "I've never heard of it but I'll definitely check them out. Most likely over the summer though because we keep getting lots of homework and time practically flies.'' So there wasn't much time to read right now, unfortunately.

It had been a little while since Lux had last come to sit under the beech tree close to the lake. The last time had been when she had that picnic with Ana despite the fact that there had been snow on the ground.
Things were different this time, because she was alone and it was the very start of April, so it was rather nice outside and the snow was all melted and gone. Yay. Lux loved Spring, and she was happy that her birthday was in another two months. What would she get for this year? It was her 13th birthday, so hopefully it would be awesome. Shame she wouldn't have a party this year like she usually did when she had been at home. Oh well.
Taking her book from her bag, she began to read it under the shade of the beech tree.

Puppy dog eyes don't work on Tag Kildare: Duly noted. It was a shame, really, because Alec had prided himself in the way his puppy dog eyes worked on Ells. Here he was thinking it was a favourite blondes thing. Maybe not? Yeah. And yes, Alec did notice how Tag's hair was going in ONE DIRECTION. He wouldn't mess it up! The boy did, however, let out a small gasp when the Gryffindor spoke. "So... so no hair ruffles?"
This was a tragedy.
Funnily enough, Tag's words did make sense to this Hufflepuff. So much so that he first let out a snort... and a grunt... and then started chuckling. Only because... well... it seemed a little familiar, you know? "Does Lottie know about this, mate?" Eyebrows were raised slightly. Tag didn't step on the girl's feet, did he?
That was the great thing about being mates with Tag: he understood. Even something like hair troubles. "You're a good lad!" he said, reaching over and patting the boy's cheek gently. Soft young cheek. Alec was all too glad that the boy hadn't aged. Didn't want Tag suffering like that. "Exactly! I don't like them. I, erm... I tried to get them dyed over in Hogsmeade but they just keep coming back!" You know, since they were on the topic of hair. ... Or maybe not. "Yeah! I... I don't know. Didn't they tell you in Leprechaun School?"

FINALLY!! A nice day out and Bart was taking advantage of it. He headed towards the lake. He still hand't found that squid and he needed to before term was over. With everything that had went on this school year Bart was just ready to have some fun, but his oldness really wasn't letting him do anything all that crazy, which he was so not happy about. All the planned pranks that went wasted. It really stunk!
As he headed down the grass he noticed someone sitting near a tree. "Lux" He waved at the girl. Not one to have too many friends he did like hanging out with the puffer second year. So that was at least one puffer that was good. Ian bad.. .Lux good. He put that in memory.
Walking toward her he sat carefully down, potion had warn off so the wrinkles and the bald was back. "Hey what are you doing?" he looked around wondering why she was alone, "Are you alright?" Clearly when a girl was alone something was wrong he had started figuring this out throughout term.

Reaching a good spot in her book, Lux was a little hesitant to stop, but it was Bart and he was cool. She was starting to hang out with him more now, and she hoped that he was doing well now.
Smiling, she waved back at him before putting her book down as he joined her under the tree. It was a nice day out, and she was glad that she was not alone even if she had been reading. Lux always preferred company. "I am doing okay, I was just a little bored because I couldn't find any of my friends." And now Bart was talking to her, so yaaay. "How are you doing?" Hopefully all was well with him too. She rather liked Bart.

Lux always preferred company. "I am doing okay, I was just a little bored because I couldn't find any of my friends." And now Bart was talking to her, so yaaay. "How are you doing?" Hopefully all was well with him too. She rather liked Bart.
Bart looked down at her book, "You had to be bored if you're reading." because that was the only way anyone should be reading. He never understood why people that reading was such fun. You sat looking at words. No action, so excitement, no hands on.
"Your friends? Like Bay?" he might have changed his voice all teasing when he said Bay's name, but he had seen that gossip paper about them kissing. He had asked Bay about it, but he could still tease Lux. It was job as friend to tease her. He wasn't sure if he was considered one of her friends, but it wasn't a big deal if not.
"Oh I'm good." minus the mother moving him again and the old thing he was doing just peachy. "I was going to see if I could find the squid that lives in the lake. I want to talk to him." He had wanted to since Abbi had told him it's name, but hadn't found him yet. Maybe she lied, but Culloden said he was there too. Culloden wouldn't lie to him. There was no way.

Bart's comment made Lux laugh. She loved reading, it was one of her favourite things to do when she wasn't hanging around with her friends. There were loads of people she knew who loved to read as well. It made you smarter, and was a good way to pass the time while entertaining yourself.
"Yeah, like Bay. I hang out with him a lot" She was ignoring the fact that he was teasing her, because she was not ashamed. It was obvious that he had read the paper, since he was the one who pointed the article out to her in the first place. Was he teasing her because she had kissed Bay? Or was it because he thought she was dating him? With a smile on her face, she waited to see if he had anything else to say.
Wait, Bart wanted to talk to the Giant Squid as well? "I have been wanting to do that ever since I heard about him! I tried to get him to come to the surface by singing, but that didn't work. And I promised Bay that I wouldn't go swimming in the lake." He had been worried that something bad would happen to her if she went under the water. Picking a fallen branch up off the ground, she started to play with it absent-mindedly.

Puppy dog eyes didn't work today. Maybe another time, Summers. Wow. And seriously. Alec seriously took his hair ruffling job, maybe too seriously. Tag didn't know Alec really relied on depended on this. But, but look at him. He looked so sad now. Tag hoped he hadn't ripped out his best friends heart in two with the denying of hair ruffles. By the way, Tag wouldn't actually do that. With a small sigh, as well, he leaned his head slightly downwards, hair facing Alec. There. Touch it. Not too much though. "Lucky ducky."
And, blink. Whoa. Those were the oddest things that Tag will ever hear of Alec. So so odd. So much talent, too, to make noise like that. "That I'm a terrible dancer? No." Its not like they'd ever danced before or anything. So naturally she wouldn't know. "She doesn't need to know, too." He added with a wink.
Oh. Such old, wrinkly, pruney like skin touching against Tag's. Which, he shivered at. When was Alec gonna stop being old? Just curious. Then an eyebrow raise. And lots and lots and lots of laughter. "You tried to dye them? Please tell me you didn't ask for blonde?" Tag would laugh even louder if Alec decided for blonde dye. Trying to join his favorite blondes, perhaps? But, nah, Alec would probably stick to the brown hair. Then the blonde was shaking his head. Seriously? Where was Alec getting all these ideas from? "There's no such thing as leprechaun school, Alec Blake Summers."

He watched her carefully as she started to laugh, "What's so funny?" He didn't get it. Was it his comment about being bored, because he didn't think that was funny. Was she laughing at his wrinkles or the fact he had went bald again? Why was she laughing?
"I know you do. I hang out with Bay too." He knew things.. He heard things. He saw both their reactions to his questions. Bart was on to them. "I don't get why you girls are so date and kiss crazy." Yes he had been ignoring the three about Cinnamon liking him, because it was weird, she didn't like him like that and he wasn't into dating. He didn't like any girls like that. So it was all just weird. Plus Lux liked to kiss the boys that was just.. he wasn't even sure, he just didn't get it. "Relationships are stupid." His mother was so proof of that.
"Me too!" She wanted to find that thing too, this was great. Maybe if they worked together they could find him faster. "He has my name, I need to see if he's cool, because I'm not sharing names with something not cool." He would forever hide his true name if that was the case. "Sing? Are you a good singer? You could have scared him away if you aren't." He wasn't trying to be rude, but it was the truth if the squid didn't like her singing he might never come out. Now she as getting an odd look, "Why would he not want you to swim in there? People swim in there." Culloden didn't want Bart to go in either, but he had seen others in there. So it had to be alright.

Shrugging slightly, Lux smiled at Bart as he asked her what was so funny. "Nothing, I just love reading and I thought your comment was funny." Bart amused her for some reason, he was pretty funny in her eyes. It was nice to have a friend who could make her laugh.
The next remark made her raise her brow. What exactly did Bart know? He was clearly implying things. Yes, definitely implying things. "Kissing is nice. Do you not like anyone, Bart?" Anyone being Cinnamon, obviously. Lux really thought that they would be a cute couple. Triple dates with her friends would be awesome. Though, of course her and Bay were just friends for now.
Oh? Lux had no idea that the Squid's name was Bart as well. "Maybe if he knows you share a name, he will easily come to talk to us." It was worth a shot. Lux was going to pretend that Bart hadn't said anything slightly insulting to her, since she did like him. "I think I am a pretty good singer. Maybe I can ask him if he likes my singing when I get to talk to him..." That is if he could come up without her going into the water... Wait, what? "People swim in there? And he is protective of me." She didn't mind it though, she actually liked it. But she was not going to share that with Bart.
Adi squinted at his friend. Benny said he was okay but he looked mighty tired. Hmm. That would explain why he fell asleep and took so long to get here. It was a good thing he didn't bring that new Frisbee he had gotten. Benny wouldn't have been able to move a muscle! Not that Adi would have been full of energy, anyway.
"Guster is fine. He's hunting flies, I guess,'' the Puffer said with a grin and turned in the direction of his toad. Waaait! Where was Gus?! He was right there a minute ago catching insects! But now he had disappeared. Jumping down from the rock, Adi hurriedly scanned the Lake's vicinity. "Benny! Do you see Gus?'' No, Adi was not panicking. Not one bit. Okay, maybe he was.
Had Gus gone into the water? Toads could swim so there was no need to worry. But suppose he hadn't gone into the water? What if he just hopped off somewhere and got lost? Without any further word to Benny, Adi hurriedly hobbled off towards the water, scanning everywhere for his beloved toady.
Such was his hurry that he failed to notice some stones in his path. The result after he stepped on one with his left foot? Adi twisted it terribly causing him to crash to the ground, falling onto the other stones. "OWWWWWWW!" he cried out as he landed on the ground. It took him a moment to register the searing pain in his left leg. Looking down at it, he realised it was sticking out at an odd angle. WHAT WAS WRONG WITH HIS LEG?!
"OWWWWWWW!"
The boy's painful cries echoed across the lake and grounds, especially to the popular reading spot of the beech tree. Poor, poor old lad. At least he had his friends around him, for it is never pleasant to die alone...

He crinkled his nose, yes Bart Maroon crinkled his nose to books. “I just don’t understand it. Is it a puffer thing?” Maybe it was a puffer thing. Book boy enjoyed reading so maybe they were all book worms. I really don’t get why people enjoy reading, it’s so boring. I’d much rather be on my broom or actually doing an adventure not reading about one.
Eyes were rolling on her comment, “Kissing is dumb, dating is dumb, it’s all such a waste of time. Crickey why do people do it. You act all weird and stupid and then what someone hurts the other person and leaves. No thanks.” He heard his mum cry one too many times with his dad and the divorce and now he just knew it was happening again and this time he wasn’t there to try and cheer her up. Nope not happening. “No way I don’t like anyone.” He wasn’t going to either. His broom was his love and that was it. Okay maybe his frog named Toad as well, but that was it.. period.
“Hmm that might not be a bad idea, but how do we get to tell him we have the same name if we don’t know where he is?” He wasn’t afraid to jump in and find him, but where to start looking. “Once we find him, ask away.” Whatever floats her boat as long as he got to meet the squid. “Bay’s just being silly, that lake is harmless. We should go in now.” It was still pretty cold, but Bart didn’t care.
His brown eyes lifted hearing a scream, “What was that?” Maybe someone was eaten by the lake, he wouldn’t even acknowledge it anymore, because if someone was eaten by the lake then Lux might not go in to find the squid with him.
"I love comedy movies!" gushed Mizu."Though sometimes I may go overboard on the laughter." Huh! Overboard was an understatement. One time he laughed so hard he passed out from lack of oxygen, but that was a story for another time.
"Your right I'll get over that fear sooner or later." Mizu nodded. At least someone believed in him. Honestly he thought he would always be scared of horror movies.
"Oh No the flute was pretty easy." Explained Mizu. "The only problem I have is being able to hold notes for long periods of time."
"Sure why not." said Mizu."As long as we bring food and some comedy movies to watch afterwards it'll be fun." It truly will be really fun. He might even conquer his fear quicker that way."Ooh, and lots of action too!" said Mizu. Yes! Action films will make all bad thought go away.
