Apparition Testing Cale was back! This time, he had a number of test booklets with him, stacked neatly on a table next to his whiteboard. There was a large partition in the middle of the room splitting it in half - on the side Caleb was standing on, there were a number of desks all set up. The other side of the screen was set up in a sort of obstacle course containing hoops, holes and other obstacles. The charm had already been lifted so they could apparate in the hall, but not out of it, as usual. He had a few instructions written already on the board: Quote:
OOC: STEPS ON HOW TO TEST AND GET YOUR LICENSE: You should have a total of SIX posts at the MINIMUM. You need at least ONE post for each of the steps of the practical portion (including returning to Cale to check for splinching) as well as RPing your character coming in and sitting down to take the test. Simply click the link in the post above to take the quiz patch! Once I grade your test, I will post Cale responding and giving you the IC ok to start practical testing. Remember, any splinching is an AUTOMATIC FAIL. I will not RP Cale saying that you splinched UNLESS you specifically post in your RPs that you splinched. By doing that, you acknowledge that your character will NOT pass and will have to retest at the Ministry over the IC summer break. Misa Woods (DuckyLinJi) can also check you over for splinching and grade your practical portion. If you did not RP in the Apparition Lesson, you will not be allowed to test. I will be checked to assure that each character who tests here DID complete the lesson! Once you pass, you may RP your charrie leaving. This post will be open for the next 72 hours - ish. Probably a bit longer. After the tests are completed apparition licenses will be entered into the profiles of those who passed! |
Post 1 Sander nervously walked into the testing room. He walked over to the now familiar instructor and greeted him. "Hello Mr. Newell. I'm reporting in to take the apparation licensing test," he nervously smiled at the instructor before picking up a test booklet and walking over to a row of desks. He sat down, took a deep breath, then flipped open the booklet and began reading it over. Then he picked up his quill and started filling out his answers into the booklet provided. The instructor had said that if he didn't pass this portion he wouldn't be able to continue to the practical portion of the test, so Sander decided to take his time and review every question and answer he gave before finally submitting the booklet in to be marked. |
Post 1 So, it was here. Tag was actually going to take the apparition test now. Even though he'd gotten it down he'd really wished they had more time to practice the technique until a perfection, you know. But anyway, Tag felt okay about it, not great, but ok. Which was better than feeling ill prepared all the while. Tag walked into the great hall, found the Instructor and went over to him. Out of kindness and manners, Tag simply nodded at him. If he spoke or something his food might make a friendly visit, and he wanted to avoid that at all costs. He glanced around for a second before tasting the test and took it back to him to where he found himself a desk near the back. He got out a quill and started to pour over the questions. This might take some time. After quite some time of going over and over the questions Tag looked at his answers and hesitated before turning them in. He gave them another quick look over before giving it back to the Instructor. |
Post 1 Tessa stepped into the hall and let out a breath. She could do this- that's what she kept telling herself. She had been very comfortable with apparating by the end of the practice session- she just had to remember that sensation as she did it today. "Hello Sir," she said, nodding at the man who had talked to them about apparating the last time. "I'm Tessa Hedge, reporting for my test," she said with a nod to the man. She walked over to one of the desks next, taking out her quill and ink as she stared down at the booklet. She hated tests- she would have much preferred to move onto the practical portion first- but, rules were rules. She shot a reassuring grin over to Sander and then returned her attention to the test. |
Post #1 Oichi entered the testing hall feeling confident that she was ready to smoke her apparition exam. Upon entering she saw the testing rules and put them to memory and then saw the people from the lessons, "Hi, Oichi Paulidine reporting for my apparition test. She then received a testing bullet and took a seat and got started. |
Post #1 To say Terry was nervous would be an understatement. There had been only a few occasions in his life that he had felt the butterflies in his stomach and not in a good way. This, apart from taking his OWL's last year, would have to be one of the worst. He was confident in his abilities, that he'd be able to pass the exam and there was still the thought that if he didn't, he'd be able to do it over the summer anyway. That wasn't too much longer, was it? But the boy had only just become of age and he was excited to be able to have the freedom of apparating all over the place. He walked into the exam room with a gulp, scanning his eyes around for signs of what he was supposed to do next. The sixth year sent over a friendly nod to the instructor, out of politeness and almost as reassurance to himself. He wouldn't let them attempt the examination if he wasn't confident in their abilities, right? He spotted the exam papers and approached them, picking one up and bringing it back to his desk. He withdrew his quill and resisted the urge to chew on it as he studied the questions intently. It wasn't so bad. He'd done a lot of revision over the past few days and the answers seemed to have sunk in. Hopefully anyway. He was writing for a while, the exact time length he was unsure of but he was sure that he had taken less than 2 hours. Once he was finished with his exam paper he closed it up and submitted it to the examiners to be marked. Fingers crossed. And now onto the practical element. |
Post 1 Finally Here Nigel was ready to take his apparition test. Practical and written. Nigel was confident it was be easier then getting his muggle driver license. That was a little bit of a pain. But so worth it in the end. Now time for this license. Nigel walked into the hall and saw the instructor plus the instructions on the board. Okay the written part was first and the test did not seem that hard. Lava was pretty awesome. Even though it was not real. Shame. The Prefect went over to get a test booklet and brought it over to an empty seat. Nigel glanced at the questions with his quill out and knew some would need some thinking. Before long he had the booklet complete and gave them back to the instructor. Part One complete. |
Post 1 After struggling to accomplish apparation in the lesson, Ascanius was a little leery of taking his exam. Sure, he'd be fine in there because he always seemed to rise to the occasion, right? Yeah. Exactly. He'd be fine. At least that was what he had been telling himself all morning. 'Cept, when he finally walked into the room he felt his heart constrict really quickly before swallowing down that nervousness and walking in. At least, swallowing all that he could. Once he entered, he didn't say a word and just grabbed the pamphlet. With a little bit more calm he answered all of the questions. As soon as he was done, he handed it back to the instructor and prepared for the hard part. |

"Perfect score! Good job, you may proceed to the practical portion," he said with a smile. Quote:

"Good job, you passed!" he said with a grin. Now onto the practical! Quote:

"Good job! Proceed," he told the Ravenclaw with a smile. Quote:
"Congrats, a perfect score!" he said with a grin after he graded the test. He gestured over to the practical part of the test. It was going to get crowded there... OOC: I'm off to bed for the night so next post won't come for another 12ish hours. For those who passed - get to testing! |
1 Caterina was really super nervous again. She'd managed to get this thing down somehow during the practice and lesson, but now that it was time to actually take the test, she felt panic stricken all over. The biggest part she was worried about was the concentration, but as long as she could keep herself to herself and try hard and not lose any body parts, she would be good, right? "Hello, Mr. Newell." Cat smiled (only just a bit nervously) at the man as she took one of the testing booklets and picked a seat up in the front. She liked to be in the front of the classroom, it was closer to the exit. She slipped her glasses on carefully. Unlike loads of her schoolmates, she didn't need them because she was getting old, she'd just always needed them for extended reading. After she answered the questions, reread and checked her choices, Caterina returned to the front to hand over her booklet. It was too bad that the part she felt easiest about with this whole thing was now over. Eep. |
Post 2 WHOA. Just one wrong answer. Tag was surprised at himself. Even rose his eyebrows when the instructor had told him that. Wow. That was impressive. For him. Only missed one question. Which meant he passed, at least this part of the apparition testing. That lifted Tag's spirits. He could do this. He quickly glanced at the board next to the instructor and made sure he remembered what his first task was. Apparate from the front of the building to the back of the building. Tag went to the opposite side of the hall, where lots of things, and not desks, had been set up. Wait, he was supposed to go from here to the back of the room? Tag tried to get on his tip toes. He needed a specific design on the floor to do this. That's how he'd been practicing. From here, though, it was hard to do that, wasn't it? No worries. He could do this. The blonde had this. Then he remembered, there was some odd crack on the end of the hall. All he needed to do was see it. The boy stood from his spot and imagine the small crack, pictured it inside his mind. Once he felt good with that idea he started with the entire Three D's working into his head. Determination. Deliberation and Destination. His entire mind focused on that. Afterwards he pictured his entire being transporting itself to the opposite side of the room, transporting there and landing by or nearby that spot he was determining in his mind. That spot was Tag's new hoop. Slamming his eyes shut Tag thought of the spot as best as he could before he felt his feet lift off the ground, and that weird sucking, being pulled at every angle, and losing his breath feeling came to him. Almost as soon as he started feeling all of that his feet slammed hard onto the floor, taking a small step forward, near the spot he had pictured in his mind. He'd take that as a success. |
West went and settled down to take the written portion... and breezed through it relatively fast. The test booklet was more intimidating closed than open. It wasn't hard, and it wasn't like he wasn't prepared and all... ... so as soon as that was done he got up and waited in the line that had seemingly formed. Waiting to know if he could attempt the practical portion or not. |
Post 2 Sander breathed a sigh of relief when he was told he had received a perfect score on his written test. Smiling gratefully at the instructor, he got up from his desk to begin the practical portion of it. All he had to do now was to complete the tasks assigned by Mr. Newell, apparate successfully without splinching and he would get his license to apparate. He read the instructions on the board before walking to the other side of the room. He had to first apparate from the front of the room to the back of it. Sander walked all the way to the front of the room, before turning around to look at the other end of the room. He took a couple of breaths to clear his mind. Then he focussed on his destination. He visualized himself disappearing from where he was currently standing and then appearing instantaneously at the back of the room. "I need to move from here to there....from here to there." he kept whispering softly to himself even as he concentrated on how he was going to make that happen. When he was ready to apparate, he closed his eyes, moved his left foot back and turned on the spot. Immediately, he felt the now familiar twisting and moving sensation. One second he felt it, the next second the feeling was gone....and then POP!! Sander opened his eyes and quickly looked to see where he was now standing at. He breathed a sigh of relief to find that he had successfully apparated to the back of the room. Then he quickly examined himself to make sure he was in still intact and all in one piece, which to his relief he was. He had completed the first task successfully. Now on to the next one. |
Post 1 Testing time. Oooooooooooooooooo, Merlin!! That was exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time! But Sophie was smiliinnngggg!!! Because apparating was awesome and she quite enjoyed it. It'd be amazing to be able to do that without having to depend on other people. Woooo!! She entered the Great Hall and read the instructions on the board. Riiighty right! Grabbing a test booklet, she sat down at one of the desks and took the written test. It sure did not take Sophie 2 hours to finish the written portion, and as soon as she was done with it, she queued up to hand the test in and wait for the permission to start the practical part. |

"Good job! Onto practical testing with you!" Quote:
Now for the practical part! Quote:
"You passed!" Quote:
"You passed, congratulations!" he said with a smile. |
Post 1 Theo was excited to get going with this exam, and he had actually revised for it as well! That, like, never happened. As soon as he got into the testing room, the nerves started to settle in, though. At least the exam was the first thing to get out of the way. Theo wasn't too scared about that. He took a seat and whizzed through the exam. It took him just over an hour and 20 minutes to complete it, after getting stuck on a couple. No biggie, though! It was the explanations that took him extra long. Theo sucked with words on paper. Once he was relatively happy with his answers, he got up and went to the front to hand his paper in. Ooooookay, nervous now. Please don't fail! |

Nod. And pass? Great. Next step then. West smiled at Mr Newell and then headed over to the practical testing area. |
Post 3 Sander walked up and stood in front of three hoops lying on the ground 20 feet away from him. From what he read on the board, he had to only pick one to apparate into. Sander looked at the hoops before deciding to apparate into the one on his extreme left. Once he had made his decision, he kept his focus on that one hoop, totally blocking out the presence of the other two hoops. He visualized himself disappearing from where he was standing and immediately appearing right in the middle of the hoop to the left of him. Sander concentrated as hard as he could. Even though he had apparated into hoops before, he knew that he couldn't take his previously successful attempts for granted. So he took his time as he continued to focus on what he intended to do. 'From here...to inside there. I need to move from here to there.' Sander kept thinking to himself even as he visualized himself doing what he was strongly determined to do. Taking a deep breath and slowly releasing it, Sander closed his eyes and keeping that image of him leaving where he was currently standing and appearing in the hoop 20 feet away, he moved his left foot back and turned on the spot. Sander felt himself twist and turn and then suddenly POP!!...everything stopped moving. He slowly opened his eyes and immediately looked down. He was standing in the center of a hoop but which hoop? Sander quickly turned his head to his right and breathed a sigh of relief when he counted two hoops on the ground next to the right of him. He had successfully apparated into the hoop on his extreme left. As he stepped out of the hoop, Sander carefully examined himself to make sure that he hadn't splinched. He looked over to where he had originally apparated from and was glad that he couldn't see anything on the floor. Satisfied that he himself was intact, Sander finally allowed himself to relax. He had successfully completed the 2nd task. |

The first thing. She needed to go from this side of the room to the other side of the room. Not into hoops or on lily pads or in swamps, just to the other side of the room. Right. Okay. Phewww. Deep breathing. She relaxed her hands, wiggling her fingers for bloodflow and started to think of the other side of the room. She managed to picture it in her mind easily enough, but it still took longer for her to gather her courage and her concentration. Really, though. If she could manage to do this, she could manage basically anything. Concentration had always been her downfall. This really wasn't as big of a deal as she was making it, right? It was part of the magic that she'd been born with, that she was going to have for the rest of her life. She could totally do this. She'd been standing there a while longer than she wanted to, but Caterina finally felt like she was ready to begin. She had a few hours to do this, right? She wasn't pushing herself in the wrong direction. She could clearly picture herself standing where she was now and in the blink of an eye, standing across the room. She wanted it, she willed it. There was no denying that uncomfortable feeling, and as unpleasant as it was, she knew what it meant. Caterina opened her eyes and bounced around in a little circle. She'd done it! One part down, four to go! |
Post 4 Sander left the hoops and walked over to what seemed to him, the most difficult of all challenges. He was supposed to apparate over one of the obstacles in front of him. He had a choice of apparating over large puddles about 50 feet wide, or over 20 feet deep potholes, or lastly, over pools of lava, 30 feet wide. Neither choices sounded, or looked pleasant to him. Each one of them had their degree of difficulty. The puddles, albeit the least dangerous, was also the widest to apparate over. He had a long way to fall if he missed apparating over the potholes, and Sander knew that if he failed, he would be walking out of that classroom....if he could walk out...with a very serious injury. The 30 wide pools of lava was no walk in the park either. Sander decided to explore his options carefully before making a final decision. |
Post 2 Oichi smiled as she was told she passed the written portion of her exam. She then remembered it was time for the real work and she felt anxious but did her best to stay calm as she walked to the back of the room. She took a deep brel th to calm herself enough focus. She then closed her eyes and concentrated intentlyr on making it from one side of the room to the other. She then willed the magic within her to take her there and with a pop she made it in one piece. She opened her eyes and saw she had made it from the front to the back of the room. She felt elated and could not wait t.o rock the rest of the exam |
Post #2 A slight weight was lifted off Terry's shoulders as he received his marks back for his practical paper. He passed, thank Merlin. The couple of days revision had done him good. But the next element was where it would start to get difficult. He didn't doubt his abilities but that didn't stop him from getting nervous. It was an important test, he wanted that license and he really didn't want to have the slight shame of having to test again at the Ministry. He smiled at the instructor, grateful for being given the indication to move on. Making sure to glance at the board before he moved to the front wall of the room, Terry absorbed all the instructions into his head so he wouldn't have to keep squinting over to see what came next. All he had to do was apparate from one side to the other. No having to transfer rooms. It wasn't so hard, was it? He closed his eyes shut and thought about his desired destination. It was only feet away, not miles. He could do this. He could definitely do this. Once he had his destination firmly in his mind, he thought about the other two D's, determination and deliberation before he felt that now familiar feeling in his stomach. |
Post 2 Awesome!! He past. It would have been a serious disappointment if he did fail. Knowing he was a student leader and all. Still weird thinking about it. Alright back to the fun of getting an apparition license. Front of the room to the back of the room. If Tag could it so could Nigel. The Prefect walked over the the front of the room where the practical part was taking place. Nigel looked at the spot he was soon to be very familiar with with and pictured it clearly in his mind. He was going to be in that spot in a matter of seconds. Nigel was sure of it. The Three D's. Determination. Deliberation and Destination. Nigel focused and clearly saw in his head the place he wanted to be at. He closed his eyes and felt that familiar pulling in his gut. By the time he opened his eyes he was in the back of the room right where he pictured himself. That was what Nigel called a successful apparition. |
Post 5 After much deliberation, Sander decided to select the large puddles. Yes they were the widest to apparate over, but he had concluded that there would be times in the future that he would need to apparate further distances than just 20 or 30 feet away from his current position. Yes again, he could always practice doing that once he had his license. Sander knew that if he wanted to get his license, it would be wisest just to play it safe and attempt the easiest of three. But Sander didn't believe in taking the easy way out. So now that he had made his decision, Sander walked around the large puddles examining them before walking to the edge of the puddle nearest to him. He focussed his attention on the place where the puddles ended and where the ground stood firm and dry. He took a couple of deep breaths, before clearing his mind of all thought except just one; the need for him to apparate from where he was standing, over across the puddles, and landing at the other side of them, 50 feet away. He took another couple of deep breaths, slowly releasing them to calm his nerves. ''We're almost there, Sander. We just need to get over this obstacle and when we're successfully done with that, its just the hoops to finish off,' he told himself. Eyeing the spot he had picked out, Sander concentrated on moving himself from where he was standing, crossing over the large puddles, and then immediately appearing at the other side of them. Keeping that image in his mind and concentrating really hard on what he wanted to do, how he was going to do it and where he wanted to be, Sander moved his left foot back and quickly turned on the spot. He felt the now familiar twisting and moving into nothingness... ....and then........POP!!...... Those feelings disappeared and Sander quickly opened his eyes, glad to find himself standing on solid ground. He turned to look behind him and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that he had successfully apparated himself over the large puddles. Quickly examining himself from head to toe, Sander was glad to see that he was unhurt and whole. He had successfully completed the second to last task without splinching. Now for the final challenge. |
Post 3 Easy does it. Tag had completed the first task. He squinted his eyes at the board to see what he had to do next. Apparate into one of the hoops. This shouldn't be difficult to do, seeing as this was the only thing Tag had put all his energy into during the lesson. He took a step to the side and positioned himself straight looking at the hoop a couple of feet in front of him. All right, he got this. The three D's popped into Tag's head. Punny. First thing he did was think about each one individually and then stared at the spot the hoop was positioned in. What happened next was he did the whole 'imagine his body transporting and landing' in the space of the hoop. Envisioned his own body standing there. Once he thought he had a good feeling for that he shut his eyes and tried to see the spot of the hoop inside his mind. This is something he always did. Just 'see' himself there. If he didn't do that then he'd probably land on the floor or something. Taking a deep breath the boy shut his eyes even more tight, made tight fists with his hands and put all his concentration and effort into landing at his destination. There came that odd sensation. Like being pulled out through a tight tube or something or the sort, his breath running short, but as soon as he felt it it was gone. His feet touch floor, landing flat this time. 1. 2. 3.... He opened his eyes and looked around him. There he stood inside the hoop. Not facing the front of the hall, but the back. Still though, in it. Would that, how he was standing, be marked down or something? He hoped not. |
Post 6 Like the first challenge, the final challenge for him was to apparate once again into one of the hoops. Sander walked back to where the three hoops lay 20 feet away on the ground. This time he picked the middle hoop to apparate into. This was his last task and although it looked easy, Sander was starting to feel tired which meant that he had to concentrate even harder in order for him to successfully apparate into the center of the middle hoop. Sander focused his attention on the hoop itself, especially inside its inner circle. He visualized himself standing where he was, and then disappearing from here and instantaneously appearing there, standing inside the center of the hoop. Here...There..Here...There... Closing his eyes as he visualized himself moving, Sander moved his left foot back and turned on the spot. He again felt that now familiar feeling of twisting and turning into nothingness. .....POP!!.... ...and the next thing he knew, there was a popping sound and the twisting sensation stopped. Sander opened his eyes and first looked over to his left and right to determine that he was indeed standing in the middle hoop. Then he carefully checked himself. He breathed a sigh of relief when he found that he was still in one piece and nothing of himself or his attire had been left behind in the earlier spot he had been standing in. When he didn't see anything there, Sander smiled. He had successfully completed the challenges the instructor had assigned them. |
Post #3 The whirling and sickness feeling in his stomach was disintegrating every time that he practiced. It made the sensation a lot more comfortable and soon hopefully it would just be an every day feeling. Terry was feeling quite confident that he had moved somewhere before he even opened his eyes. It made him feel pretty good in himself but the real question was whether he had managed to get to the spot that he wished to be. Was he at the back of the room or had he only moved a couple of feet. He opened one eye first, taking a peek at his surroundings. Well he had definitely gone somewhere. He opened his other eye and breathed a sigh of relief as he could see the front of the room a distance away. He turned around to see that he was standing next to the back wall. A grin fell on his face, proud that he had achieved the first apparition. Only a couple more tests to go and he'd get his apparition license. This wasn't so hard. Now what was next? He squinted at the board, trying to get some indication of the next task. It was the hoops, wasn't it? He had managed to complete these successfully during the lessons so it shouldn't be too difficult of a task to complete again. |
#1 Had it really been two weeks already?? Lily had made sure to spend extra time studying for her apparition exam because she didn't want to wait any longer to get her license. Walking into the classroom, the seventh year gave a nod to the instructor sir and took a seat, getting started on the test. That one... and oh, and that one.... that one was easy... Furiously scribbling through the test, Lily made sure her answers were exactly what she had wanted before placing her quill to the side and going over to the ministry person to turn in her written portion. Nervously, she nibbled her fingers while she waited. What if she didn't pass and was the only one not to pass? She'd be happy to pass even if she lost her lunch while doing the physical portion of it. The two things she didn't want to do were splinching and failing the written. Please Mr. Ministry person, please don't fail me... she thought, waiting for her test to be graded. |
Post 7 Now it was time for him to be examined by the instructor and his assistant to assure that he hadn't splinched during the entire testing process. Slowly walking over to them, Sander gave them an exhausted smile. "Mr. Newell, I've completed the tasks and I'm here to be examined," Sander told both of them and then stood still and waited patiently for the examination to begin. He was anxious to know whether he had passed or not. To have a license would definitely be awesome and something to show his siblings when he went home for Christmas holidays. |
Post 1 This was it. Ella had been waiting for this for years and the day was finally here. The eighteen year old arrived a little bit early, pacing a bit outside the room before entering. She needed to get her mind right before she attempted the written portion of the test. Speaking of, once the blonde had entered and settled in with this portion of the testing, she found that it wasn't all that hard. It looked like paying attention during the lesson had really paid off. It took her a bit because of double and triple checking her answers but eventually, Ella handed in her test and waited for the verdict. Please let her have passed. Please. |
Post #1 ... ... It was testing time. Breathe... breathe... This... shouldn't be that hard, right? Except he knew that he'd have to apparate properly in front of Mr Newell over there which... made him a lot more nervous. He ran a hand through his ... Except Mr Newell was going to be watching them. And he hadn't managed to get onto the apparating onto a lilypad. He would have mostly likely ended up in the swamp instead of on the lilypad but... he would have wanted a go, you know? It was probably his fault for taking so long to apparate into a hoop in the first place. ... Yeah. ... Moving on... ... Booklets? Sure. Grabbing one, he headed over towards a desk and lowered himself down onto a seat. He took a couple of minutes to take some more deep breaths before opening the booklet and scanning the questions within. ... Right. Okay. Positive thinking, right? It had helped him with the OWLs and, usually, for Quidditch matches too. It had also helped him with the apparition earlier on... eventually. Scribble... scribble... scribble... ... After a while, Alec placed his quill down and sat back in his seat, scanning his answers quickly. He wasn't going to run out of time, right? ... Here's hoping not. Once he was done, the boy handed the booklet in to be marked. That was that done. |
Post 4 After successfully landing inside one of the hoops, Tag turned his back to face the front of the room. Now he had to apparate over one of the obstacles. STARE. Now that would be much much much harder than anything Tag had done up to this very moment. He began to weigh his options on which obstacle to attempt. One thing is that he didn't want to get his lush, fluffy hair wet. Nope. Alec might see him, if he landed in the water, and have a heart attack at seeing the sight of Tag's hair flop right onto his head, flat and wet. No, no distractions for Alec. So his other options were the potholes or the... lava? Lava it is then. Potholes. Nope. Lava. Yes. Was he meant to apparate over the lava from the hoop? There weren't specific instructions on that, but Tag took a safe bet that that's exactly what they were supposed to do. The blonde tried to find a good spot to try and apparate to from the end of the lava. There it was. Focus. Concentration. Three D's and apparating over the lava. That was such a long distance to cross over. Tag was really worried over this. Most likely causing his mind to panic a bit. But he'd gotten this far, he was capable of accomplishing this. Closing his eyes Tag tried to picture the place he would be landing at. But all his mind saw was a faint outline. He concentrated on making that outline stand out a bit more in his mind. Which barely happened. Here goes nothing. Tag's insides crushed into his body, got squeezed at, pulled and expanded. But, as soon as it happened it had ended. The boy landed, his back bent over a bit forward, one leg behind him and the other stopping him in place. He looked around. The good thing was, he hadn't landed in the lava, the bad thing was was that his feet hadn't landed close together and his body posture wasn't the greatest. |
Post 2 Quote:
She moved to one end of the room, remembering that it was apparating across the room that was first. She put her back against the wall as she focused on where her destination would be. Looking across the room, she picked a spot under one of the Hogwarts banners. She looked at the stone work and then closed her eyes, picturing herself there. Destination, Deliberation, Determination... she recited to herself as she took another steading breath. She could do this. She took one more peek at where she wanted to go and really focused on it. Ready, and... She turned on the spot, and felt the familiar popping of apparition. She stepped out, steading herself and opened her eyes to see where she was. It was the other side of the room alright, and glancing up she saw the banner that she had been aiming for. Part one, a success! |
Post 2 Alright! "Thank you, sir." Sophie smiled up at him and took that as an OK to start the practical portion. After checking the board, she was glad to see that she was already in the front of the room, so al she needed to do was... get to the back. Apparatinggg, obviously! Wooooo!! "Okay." The girl turned around and stared at a particular spot at the back of the room. She could do this. She had already done it before, so no biggie. She just needed to keep her mind from going everywhere like last time. FOCUS, Sophie! .... GAH! The Hufflepuff took a deep breath and moved her shoulders a bit as if she was warming up. "Alright, I can do this." Because she had done it before! And without even puking! That was GOOD! "Okay." Sophie got ready and stared at the spot at the back of the room again. There. She needed to go there. Now. As she stared away, Sophie reminded herself of the three D's and, of course, of the flower magic thing she used to do. Combining both, she could totally do this. Alright, come ON, now! Forcing herself to remember the sensation of the flower magic, the badger almost automatically turned on spot and in a fraction of a second she was already somewhere else trying to not lose balance. Looking around to see if she was actually on the spot she wanted to be, Sophie smiled brightly when she made sure she was, indeed at the back of the room. Oh, yay!!! |
Post 1 Mo felt a little like he was cheating the system, since he was able to come in here and sit for the Apparition test before he'd technically turned 17. He wouldn't be able to use his new and fancy Apparition license until he was actually of age, but he still felt like Mr. Newell was going to toss him out at any moment. Quietly, Mo took up one of the pamphlets and found himself a seat. The end of his quill was well gnawed by the time he got to the last question, since, somehow, Mo was more nervous about this then he was about his OWLs last term, but he felt good about his answers. Now he'd just drop off the test... And wait. Leaving the pamphlet on the desk, Mo returned to his seat and stared at Mr. Newell without breathing. Just going to sit over here and turn purple and try not to die from it. No big deal. |
Post 3 After taking a few seconds to make sure she had not splinched, Sophie turned around again and eyed the hoops that were 20 feet in front of her. Just like in the lesson! Cool! Some more staring was in order! The Hufflepuff staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaared at the centre of the middle hoop and did the whole concentration thing again. Focusing on the centre of chosen hoop and trying to bring back the flower-magic feeling again. Apparently the sensation would be called that in her head forever now. Fine by her! This time it didn't take as long as in the lesson or even the first time she had apparated that day. After just a few moments of hard stare and forcing the sensation on herself, a loud POP was heard and the next thing Sophie knew was that she was, once again, trying to keep her balance in te centre of the middle hoop! Hooraaaaaaaaaaaay!!! Another bright grin was in order too!! |
Post 2 With that dreadful written portion out of the way, Ascanius could now focus properly on panicking about the practical application of what he had just put on paper, yeah? Technically, since he had accomplished this once, he should have been able to do it with a certain level of ease. But in that lesson his classmates had been so much more adept at apparition in general. He was worried. Not that he was ever gonna let it show. Brave face. Or his usual default face, which was always somewhere between attractive and bored. Deciding to try and get himself in the back of the room, Ascanius focused awful hard and tried to remember his three D's. They were the quickest way to get the desired results. His mind, though, was ticking away with thoughts of how he might very well mess this up, so when it came time for him to actually try to apparate...nothing happened. Not even that semi-familiar sensation of his naval being tugged to a new place. Now he was even more nervous. This was a simple task. It was just across the room. Trying to calm his heart down, he shook out his entire body and REFOCUSED on the back of the room and the back of the room alone. That was where he wanted to go. His destination and then he tried to picture himself standing there. Nothing else. Not here or somewhere inbetween, but perfectly in tact there. Tug, tug. When he opened his eyes. He was there. Success! |
Post 3 Just need a little breather before moving onto the hoops. Maybe apparating gets easier the more times you do it or least that is what Nigel hoped. Nigel looked across at the hoops he was going to have to land in. Should not be too hard. Just a warm up for the next to lava one. Okay visualize yourself in the hoop. This will be new to Nigel since he really only apparated onto the pads and across a room. Not into a ring hoop thing. Still it was only 20 feet. So there is that. Concentrate, Concentrate. Nigel closed his eyes like he usually does and visualized himself in the the middle of the hoop. Right on the perfect spot on the floor. Eyes closed he feels that sensation again. Perfect. He feels his stomach roll and do a 360. But ignoring that and still concentrating. He opens his eyes and finds he has landed successful in the hoop he wanted to. Perfect. |
3 Alright, alright. No more happy dancing. It was time to concentrate again. She'd successfully pulled this off once, but she still had a number of things to do. Now what was next? Hoops. Just like in the lesson. That should be pretty easy, considering that was what she'd been doing before. It was much easier to picture yourself in a spot where you've been before. Closing her eyes once more, Caterina pictured the hoops clearly in her mind. There were three of them, this time, and she decided to focus on the one right in the middle, just that one. Only one hoop. She didn't want to end up splitting herself in half going into two hoops. ....Was that even possible? Errrr.... oh Merlin. That was NOT something she should be thinking about right now. Oh dear. Okay. Okay. Goodness. Focus. She was so over breaking her concentration. The hoop. The hoop was 20 feet away. That's what the directions said. Caterina thought on that over and over and pictured herself standing right inside the hoop that she wanted to go to. She focused carefully until she felt that weird squished feeling again, and when she peeked, she was definitely standing in that hoop. Thank Merlin. |
Post 5! Now what did he have to do? Tag looked at the book and simply saw that his next task was easy. He'd just have to make his way back to one of the hoops. Just from here. The boy was beginning to dislike the far distances. Which made him wonder how people could do apparition into different countries and such? Wow. Effort. So all his attention went to picking an empty, untaken hoop. Or at least one his classmates didn't seem to be carrying much about. Well, as usual he did what he always did, eyes shut, focus and the Three D's. This was his last chance right here. This was his last task, before having to go to the Instructor. His performance thus far had been, in his opinion, an average one, an 'acceptable' if one were to say. But would that be enough to pass the test? He had to stick this landing. Had to. That had been it. It had been his 'landings' that were hindering him. He'd been doing everything else all right but the landings were throwing him off. Before doing anything else he just imagined his feet getting stuck to the ground, and stay there, feet equal distance. None of that awkward standing up stances. There went Tag's body. Going through that odd whirlwind feeling, his eyes shut so he wouldn't have to see anything. The next time the leprechaun opened his eyes he saw he landed flat on his feet, inside the hoop. Perfect. |

"Pass. Good job!" he said with a grin. Quote:
And another pass! These kids were all so smart. This was awesome. Made his job a lot easier, that was for sure... "You've passed, you may proceed to the practical," he said with a smile. Quote:
"Good news, you passed with flying colors!" he said with a smile. Yay, give yourself a pat on the back! Quote:
"Passed! Good job," he said with a grin. Alright, go test now, chop chop! Quote:
OOC: Hey guys! Just an FYI - I'm taking the LSAT tomorrow morning/into the early afternoon so I will not be able to grade any written portions until that time. If you finished the practical bit as well - I see you and will respond to you tomorrow when I get a chance to sit down and read all the posts! Thank you for your patience :) |
4 Caterina did not waste any time happy dancing this time. She was standing inside the hoop and looking ahead and staring. Was that… was there LAVA over there? What the… what? It wasn’t real, it wasn’t… but… it was lava. That was possibly the coolest thing she’d seen all day. All day. And that was saying something considering she spent most of her life at a magic school. This was the scariest part so far. Really, maybe it was all because of the distance. Surely this was the furthest away she’d ever gone. She definitely did not want to apparate into the lava. No. Not at all. She was pretty sure that would disqualify her from getting her license and after all this, she really didn’t want to take that chance. This time, Cat kept her eyes open and focused them on the other side of the lava. The ground. She needed to be there on the ground, over the lava and not in it. Deep breaths, deep breaths, deep calming breaths. Lava was cool, but she was NOT going in it. Narrowing her eyes, she willed herself to move, move over the lava. She was absolutely determined to not fail. There was only one more thing after this, she could so rock this test. Move, Caterina. Move. OVER THE LAVA. This time, after feeling awfully uncomfortable again, (Did this ever get better? Did anyone ever get used to this? Ew.) Caterina was standing on the other side of the massive lake full of fake lava. |
Post 4 He had done it. Nigel had made it into the hoop and it was time to move onto the fake lava. That was some pretty cool stuff. He could not move out of the hoop. He just need to appear on the other side. Okay Okay, he could do this. Positive Thinking. No Negative thoughts today. No way. It was not even real lava. Just do not appear in it anyway because that would mean you failed also. Forget splinching appearing in the wrong place was a ton more embarrassing. He pictures himself on the other side of the lava and determinedly willed himself to move over to where he was thinking. Next thing he knew that awful feeling was back without the stomach flipping. A little improvement. But not much. He had apparated over the lava. Merlin, a little more behind and he would have been in it. Well besides that he had done it. |
Post 3 Now it was on to apparating into the hoops. She turned to look at them seeing the three. Now she just had to choose one. She looked at them carefully, trying to think of which one she would be the most comfortable apparating into. As it turned out, they were equal. She took a breath and focused on the hoop to the right. She pictured herself standing in it, the stones under her feet and what everything would look around her. She took a deep breath, clearing everything else from her mind and letting her nerves dull to a minor irritation. Hoop to the right. That firmly in her mind, she focused on the ring and with a pop she apparated. She was certainly somewhere else, and as she cracked open her eyes she saw that she was in a ring... and the correct ring! Not exactly in the center, but close enough- merely an inch or two off. Okay, on to the next part of the test! |
Post 2 With a hiss of air, Mo started breathing again at the good news that he was cleared to start the practical portion. The downside, of course, was that the practical portion could have him leaving bits of himself all over the room. Honestly, if he left so much as a pocket behind, he was going to be VERY unhappy with himself. There were a lot of things he had to do to prove his worth, and it would be easy to get overwhelmed by that. Mo breathed deeply as he moved to the front of the room, conscious that the eyes of those who were still taking their written tests might be on him right now. No big deal. Just... if he DID leave that pocket behind, someone was probably going to notice it right off. He'd go the rest of his life being called "Pocketman." "Pocket-less." "El Pocketo." Something. If he worried about it too much, he wouldn't be able to get through it at all, so Mo closed his eyes and faced the wall. All he had to do was one jump at a time. Worry about each step as they happened. Easy as pie. For now, he was just jumping to the back of the room. He knew what the back of the room looked like. He knew how it felt to move from here to there. He had this one. Mo breathed in as he turned on the spot, all his focus on moving from this point to the one at the back of the room. Here to there. Destination... acknowledged. His lungs now full of air and being squeezed both internally and externally, the Ravenclaw knew that his Apparition had worked from the pressure he felt on himself. When he opened his eyes, panting from the pain, he found himself at th eback of the room. A few steps off from where he'd intended, but very VERY close. |
Post 4 Tessa turned in her hoop to look at the next challenge. She remembered hearing that there would be some sort of obstacle... and gulped when she saw that lava was the closest one to her. Not really lava, she reminded herself and took a deep breath. She just had to get in the zone, just like she did before every Quidditch game. As she had repeated to herself over and over since the test started I can do this. Lava it was. She looked across the lava, finding a good spot for her to apparate too. Just like with the practice session, each of these seemed to be getting easier- more natural. However, that didn't mean she could lose her focus either. She returned her attention to the spot and focused on it. Closing her eyes, she turned and with a pop landed on hard ground once more. Opening her eyes, she found she was across from the lava! "Yes!" she exclaimed, doing a jump of excitement before containing her joy once more. Only a few more tests to do! And she was getting more confident with each one. |
Sander stood on the sidelines as he watched Tessa complete each challenge. He had held his breath when she began apparating over the pools of lava and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that she had successfully accomplished that challenge too. Now all she had left was to apparate into one of the hoops and she'd be done. 'Come on, Tessa. You can do this,' Sander wanted to shout out the words to her, but chose to remain silent not wanting to break her concentration. |
Post 5 Tessa knew that this was just another apparition, just like all the others, but she could also feel that the end of the test was near. With that thought, she broke her concentration just as she was about to apparate. She turned... but there wasn't a pop. Only a wobble! She caught herself, her eyes opened wide in surprise. What had happened? She went back and played through her thoughts and kicked herself. She hadn't focused on a destination- she had just been thinking on the end of the activity. Focus Hedge, she scolded herself. At least she hadn't actually apparated- most likely that would have ended in splinching- or worse. Noticing Sander, she quickly shot him a smile before returning her attention to the hoop on the other side of the lava. This would be easy compared to earlier- after all, she had been in the hoop before. "Three Ds," she murmured to herself, concentrating on the hoop. |
Post 1 She'd tried to keep meals light today, because no vomiting was to happen during testing, right? It wasn't in the rules, but that was probably an automatic fail, so Alice had to keep her nausea contained. Stay inside the stomach please, food. It'd be much appreciated. But at least it was certain that no upchucking would happen during the booklet potion, or so she hoped. The seventh year entered and settled in at a spot with a booklet, squinting seriously at every question she answered. Most of this stuff had been mentioned in the lesson, so paying attention in there had helped quite a bit. Still, Alice quadruple checked her test before handing it in for marking. And then crossed her fingers. |
5 Now she was just feeling sort of exhausted, physically somehow and most definitely mentally. Caterina rubbed at her forehead and rallied herself. This wasn’t so hard once you got used to it, really. And she only had one more thing to do before reporting back to Mr. Newell. She was tired but she was determined. She turned around and looked back over the lava, back to those hoops she’d just apparated from to begin with. She needed to go back. Once more, Caterina. One more time and you’re done with it. Done. So long as you hadn't splinched herself. Golden. She was going to be golden. She kept her eyes open again, staring at that middle hoop. Well, actually, she moved her focus to the one on the right. A little challenge for herself, perhaps. She needed to test herself just a little bit more, just to be sure she really did deserve this. Destination. Deliberation. Determination. Over the lava. One more time. …..YES! Caterina didn’t even mind that she felt tired or weird and thought Apparition was the most annoying form of magical transportation ever ever ever. She didn’t care about any of those things. She only cared that she had done it. She’d really done it! She was standing back inside the hoop, from all the way over on the other side of the lava. Her body hated Apparition so much, but she still did a happy happy happy dance. |
1 Was skipping breakfast a good idea, given the circumstance? Probably not. Not that it really bothered her if her tummy made strange noises during the exam. She'd used the bathroom just before so that there was no room for accident during this mentally challenging time. No food in her belly, and no water. This was a good start. Inside the test room, Elodie settled into a seat and pulled distressed faces upon opening the theoretical part of this exam. Had her brain seriously just gone blank? Was this like OWLs all over again? Was she going to need to curl up in a ball afterwards and cry? She took longer than she expected most others had in completing the questions, but only because she took the first ten or so minutes trying her hardest to not squeal and run out of the room in a blind panic. Which she didn't, and once she felt relaxed enough..she started answering the questions. Her stomach did rumble once or twice during, and there were some nervous giggles from the sixth year when she got to questions she couldn't quite recall the answer straight off. But once she'd answered them all, and tried to check over them without being sick, she headed over towards Mr. Important Person, all big-eyed and considering if he would take a lollipop bribe if she'd gotten too many wrong. Maybe even spaghetti? Now she felt sick. |
Post 2 Quote:
The first thing he had to do was apparate from the front of the room to the back. It was probably the easiest thing out of the list, but Theo totally over-analysed it anyway. He could SEE the back of the room just fine, so the destination was down. Determination... well, he certainly was determined to pass this test. Determined to get his apparition licence. He was so close to getting it, this was the only thing standing in his way... And finally, deliberation. Theo closed his eyes and thought about how much he wanted to get to the back of the room. It was closer to the exit for starters!! Maybe he could make a quicker escape if he apparated over there. This thought process seemed to be working for him. His eyes were closed shut and he imagined every inch of his magic filling his body. It made him feel like a superhero when he did that, which definitely did stuff to his confidence... however lame that sounded. Theodore peeked an eye open even though he KNEW nothing had happened. The last time he had apparated, he almost threw up, so yeah, nothing yet. He tried again... Come on, Theodore. This was almost as cool as driving a car. Okay, it was SLIGHTLY cooler, but still all new to Theo. Theo gave his body a bit of an UMPPTH on his next try, which seemed to do the trick. His insides felt like exploding, which was a feeling he wasn't sure he'd ever get used to, and POP - he was apparated. Theo's eyes opened and he was automatically clutching his stomach. He didn't move for a moment just to stop himself from hurling. He probably wouldn't, but let's just be on the safe side, right? Eventually, he looked up to see where he had landed, and BOOM - right in the spot that he was thinking of. |
Post 4 Turning around once again, Sophie looked at all of the obstacles. Blimey. That MASSIVE puddle call her attention at once. 50 ft wide? Wow. That was...... challenging. She had done alright in the last few times she had apparated, so she decided to go for that one. 50 ft wide puddle.... djkfnsdkjfnsjkd The Hufflepuff staaaared at a spot over the puddle. A few feet over the end of the puddle, just to make sure. If she ended up apparating a few feet less than what she planned, she wouldn't be IN the puddle anyway. So all good! Hard stare. Right there... she needed to go there now. Magically. And there went Sophie, spinning on spot, the flower-magic sensation coming almost automatically. If Sophie wasn't used to side-along apparating with her parents, she would think this going-through-tight-tube feeling to be quite odd, but she was used to it by now. That was probably why she didn't puke or anything. Made sense. Ohey! She was already on the other side of the gigantic puddle! Oh, hello, confidence! This magic was pretty cool! The badger was still smiling when she checked herself again to see if nothing was missing. |
Post 3 Theo took a moment to appreciate his first successful apparation of the test. Yo' doing so good, Theodore. At least he knew that even if he failed the test, he could actually do it if he really put his mind to it. He checked himself over to make sure he hadn't splinched, too, and so far so good, unless he lost something really tiny like... a strand of hair. Would he fail if he lost a strand of hair? He looked to the hoops and sighed a little. The hoops required much more skill and tactic, and the fact that he DIDN'T manage to get into a hoop during the lesson, made him very nervous about doing it now. Still, he was in good spirits so perhaps today would turn out differently. Theo chose a hoop at random, since it didn't really matter which, and sized it up, down, left, right. Perfect. But where were the pillows? Course, he didn't REALLY expect there to be pillows lying around on the test day. That was for practicing, but it did put a dampener on his confidence. IMAGINE the pillow. Theo closed his eyes allowed the image of his desired hoop to fill his mind, and then he added a fluffy pillow right in the center. Ahhh... and relax. This time, he did hope, that he would transport to the hoop without falling onto his butt. Destination was down. Determination. Well, he wanted to better himself, so that was determination enough. The hoop was a hurdle that he didn't quite conquer last time, so HE WOULD do it this time. HE WOULD. Deliberation, too, yes... he actually thought he was overdoing it. Once he had thought clearly through all three of the D's, Theo opened his eyes and WHOSOOEHSHH... he landed somewhere else, but on his feet. Breakthrough! After shuddering a little, Theo looked down to see where he was and BOOSH, he was standing inside a hoop! He was a little off balanced, though, and he managed to fall out of the hoop and onto the floor. Theo's head bounced up like a deer in headlights to check the teacher didn't see him fall out of the hoop. POINT WAS - HE APPARATED THERE FIRST. Don't fail him for falling over, baaaaaaaaaaaaahh... |
Post #4 Proud that he had completed the first task, Terry decided to move onto the second swiftly after. They were on a timer after all, there was absolutely no time to waste. And the quicker he could get this completed, the more concentration he would have and the less his nerves would quell up. Spotting the hoops around 20 feet away from him, the sixth year chose the one to the tight as his target, purely because he was closer in front of that one than the others. This task was definitely more tricky than the last one. He had a specific target point in which he had to land within, not just a side of the room. It would require just a little extra from those three D's in order for this to go to plan. He knew he could do it though, he had done it during the lesson after all. If you could do it once, there was no reason why you couldn't do it again. Just like he had done previously, the seventeen year old closed his eyes to get a clear picture of his desired destination in his head. He pictured the hoop on the floor and the space in the middle of it where he wanted to be stood. He then thought about how determined he was to get there before the final D came to his head, deliberation. With those sorted out, Terry felt the feeling in his stomach as he was transported from the spot. This time he didn't hesitate to open his eyes. They were flung open as soon as his feet touched the ground. He glanced around first to see whether anyone else had been successful or whether he was keeping up, which thankfully he was. His eyes then drifted to the floor where he saw one edge of the hoop. He twisted all the way around only to see that he was stood directly in the middle, just like he had wanted to be. With a massive grin, he stepped out to move on to the next task. Second practical task. Complete. |
Post 4 The next part of the test was to get over the obstacles. To be honest, Theo wasn't too worried about this one. There was no way in the world he was getting his feet wet with water or lava, so he trusted his magic enough to get him through it. As for the POTHOLES... well... he was NOT going to be even attempting that one. They only had to conquer one, right? Theo chose the lava, since it wasn't real lava, but he would pretend it was for the sake of the task. Theo went up to one of the pools of lava and gave it a look over. Looked pretty real... gulp... but at least he couldn't drown in it. That was the only plus he could find. Or could he? ..... He looked OVER the puddle to get a good idea of what the other side looked like, since he had to get an idea about the destination and stuff. There wasn't much to think about, though, which made it harder. No distinctive features. It was just the floor. The floor next to a whole bunch of lava. Theodore scratched his head and could feel himself breaking into a sweat. Oh no, he was gonna splinch... he could feel it. This was PANIC. Before he went through the process of apparating in his head, Theo opened his eyes and decided to take a breather. A bottle of water would be fantastic, too... But he didn't want to make a fuss. After a few minutes of gathering his thoughts and concentrating on his breathing, Theo stood up straight and closed his eyes again. He cleared his mind of all anxieties and ONLY thought about the destination. Even if was just a random piece of flooring. He backed himself up with a few words of inner-praise as well. This is almost the last step. You're almost there. Come on, Theodore. Come ooooooon... Theo did a little turn when he felt ready, and he apparated. He felt better once he landed, especially because he hadn't lost his balance this time. He was on his feet and not burning up in a pool of lava. He opened his eyes and realized that he was a little more further away from the pool than he had expected to be. Huh, he must have been real scared of that fake lava. |
Post 3 The first apparition had hurt like the dickens, and Mo had to really focus on the three hoops laid out in front of him not to let his mind wander over how many of these jumps he had left. It was a lot, brain. It was an awful lot. If he let himself think about it too much, it started to feel overwhelming again. Could he make himself apparate over and over when each time it made his joints hurt so much? He didn't have to. He just had to jump into one of those hoops. Mo chose the one in the middle, an obvious choice in case he apparated a little short or a little long. As long as he was in a hoop, he could pretend that was where he'd intended all along. Of course, in a perfect world, he'd just jump into the correct hoop to begin, but it made sense to play it safe. The middle hoop. The middle one. Mo stared at the spot intently before closing his eyes and unclenching his fists. It was easier if he wasn't drawn tight as a spring, and easier still if he remembered not to breathe in just before he apparated. Instead, he breathed in and out, drawing his hands up into the prayer pose as he dropped his shoulders. And... turn. There was no pain this time, although he still felt that compression on his lungs, but when Mo opened his eyes, he was delighted to find himself right in the middle of the middle hoop. SEE? This was why he yoga'd. |
Post 6 OKay, she had this. That last attempt had been her one mistake- now that it was over with, she could do what she needed to. This was the last challenge, right? But that didn't matter. All that mattered was landing back in the hoop on the other side of the lava. Okay, Destination first. She closed her eyes and pictured herself in the hoop, all the details, even the feeling of being there. The other D's came with that focus and intent. She was going to land in the hoop- no ifs or buts. So, when she felt she was ready... Turn and pop! Tessa opened her eyes and looked down, her grin broadening as she saw that she was standing in the hoop once again. She looked across the lava and back to where she was, ecstatic. |
Post 3 From the back of the room Oichi saw the rings and felt a little nervous but ready to go for it. Okay, its time for persission apparating. I can do this, no fear, lets go. Oichi concentrated her eyes on the space between the hoop she would apparate through. She then let the magic within her flow free and with a pop she went right through the hoop and ended up whole on the other side though she had not fully realized it yet. She turned around and realized she had done it. She smiled as she looked foward to the next challenge. |
Post 5 Oooo, last bit now! Sophie was excited for having managed it all right until now. She took her time, though, on this last one, because she didn't want to get carried away by the fact she hadn't splinched so far. Who knew what could happen if she got extra hyper! Noooope, she wouldn't let it all go wrong now, nope. The girl eyes the hoop again, and chose to go to the same one again. The middle one. Wait no! She wanted to go onto the right one this time. Right hoop this time, yep! Sounded good! Onto the staring. Staring..... staring. She had done it a few times already and was reday to go again! So Sophie took a deep breath again and concentrated... on the centre of the right hoop. Turning on spot, she brought back the flower-magic feeling once more and POP! There she was in the centre of the right hoop! Almost losing her balance again, but oh well. Maybe that was because she was always side-along apparating and always leaned on her parents when they arrived in their destination. Hmm... yeah, it made sense. She still needed to practice this whole balance thing. |
Post 3 He had to admit that, while he was still genuinely nervous about this test because of the importance of his license, now that he had accomplished one successful apparition it did make the whole rest of the test less daunting. The sixth year just had to stay focused and if he kept his eye on the prize no doubt he would get his license, yeah? Then he'd be able to get around way more efficiently then his motorbike. Though there was a novelty about how amazing he looked on that thing, yeah? Smiiiiiirk. Snapping back to attention, Ascanius looked across the room at three hoops that were equally twenty feet away. He just had to pick one, but with three options in front of him it begged the question why? Were they trying to make him unfocused with the three right next to each other? Did they want him to get splinched? All seemed a little sick to him. Like they were baiting students to mess up. Positivity. Sure. He had loads of that now. Trying to hone in on just ONE hoop- the middle one- he ignored the rest of the room. Only his destination, where he wanted to be and how he would get there. Everything else in the room was just a distraction. He sucked in a breath. Nothing happened. Apparition was so annoying. It was never straightforward. He thought he was concentrating more then enough. Apparently not. Once more he tried and only thought about the middle hoop. The normal tug of his naval happened and POOF. He was in the middle hoop, but he had a pounding headache. Well, that was new. |
Post 5 Theo had a sudden burst of confidence after conquering that last challenge. It had been a struggle, but he had gotten there in the end, just like he knew he would. He kinda felt like his magic wouldn't let him down after coming this far. It was all down to his head, really. Had to get in the right head space. Okay, the last part of the test had arrived, and it was those hoops again. Theo was feeling good about it, apart from the obvious extra pressure since this was the last thing to do. If he messed it all up now, he would be EXTREMELY upset. He chose a different hoop to what he had chosen before, not that it made much difference. They were all hoops, all the same size, none of them were charmed to do anything but just sit there. Just a hoop, he told himself. He pictured the hoop in his mind. INSIDE the hoop, but this time, without the imaginary pillow inside it. He seemed to have mastered landing on his feet, so he didn't really NEED the pillow anymore. Heeeeeeere goes. Thinking of everything he had done the previous times, Theo closed his eyes and then opened them again whilst doing a little turn. But nothing happened. Of course, he wasn't thinking it through hard enough. He was getting far too cocky with his successes. The Slytherin closed his eyes once more and confirmed the destination in his head. He then repeated the whole egging himself on thing. GOOOOOOOOO THEODORE, and all. He opened his eyes and WAHOOSH... he was gone. Right into the hoop, without any wobbles. |
Post 4 From his hoop, Mo could make out Cat dancing like a fool across the floor, and he let himself be fully distracted by her victory celebrations for a moment. Just a moment, because he didn't want to lose the sense of accomplishment he had after that rather perfect apparition attempt. It seemed like breathing and relaxing helped a great deal - not in the actual apparition, but in not getting hurt in the process. There were three obstacles to choose from, and Mo eyed them all a bit dubiously. The lava pit was out... no reason to psych himself out unnecessarily. And the pothole looked like a death trap, especially when he was already feeling sore and fragile lately. He'd prefer not to break a hip before Quidditch, thanks. So it was a puddle. If he missed, the worst that would happen was that he'd get his feet wet. Not a huge threat there. Ideally, though... MO didn't want to fall into the water at all. Period. Ever. He practiced some calming breathing as he surveyed the spot he intended to land, letting his posture relax and his muscles slacken. When he felt about as calm as he could manage, Mo closed his eyes and turned on the spot, anticipating the tightening and pressure on his body but not overreacting to it. He didn't hear a splash as his feet once again touched the ground, and Mo opened one eye to peeeeeeeeek around at his location. It looked like... yes! He was on the other side of the puddle. He was safe and dry and unsplinched! Victory dance a la Cat! |
Post 2 Watching the grading was nerve-racking and Ella bit her lip, willing the man to pass her. She'd done a good job, at least as far as she knew, and the anticipation of getting it back was almost too much. Nervous, she was incredibly nervous. Quote:
... She needed to get from the front of the room to the back of the room now. Ella stood with her back to the front of the room and faced the destination she wanted to go, eyes focused on the back wall. Everything else had been cleared out of her mind and she tried to get every bit of magic she had in her tiny body working. She could do this. She'd done it before, right into the center of a hoop so she could definitely do it now. All she had to do was imagine herself there. Determined. She was determined to get to her destination. And she would move with deliberation to that destination. Squeezing her eyes shut, the blonde pictured herself there, repeating the three Ds over and over in her mind as she did. This was going to happen. It was. And...suddenly her insides were being squished and Ella's breath caught in her throat. It was happening! IT WAS! And as exciting as she was feeling, the eighteen year old continued to concentrate. Before she knew it, she was at the back of the room. She grinned proudly for a second or two before glancing down at her fingers. All were accounted for which was good. She then wiggled her toes inside of her shoes, trying to get a feel for anything that had gone wrong. Nothing had, though. Or at least it didn't seem that way to her. Brilliant! She was ready to go! |
Post 4 Oichi looked toward the obstacles and saw that one looked like a lava pit about 50ft long. Oh cool, they have real simulated lava, I gotta try apparating over that, its the experience of s lifetime Oichi quickly walked over to the front end of the pit. It was then she saw close up just how real it looked. It was a slight bit terrifying but that made it all the more intriguing. Oichi concentrated on making it to the otherside of this monstrosity of an obstacle. She closed her eyes and let her magic within flow through her once more and then opened her eyes and saw the distance as she popped to cross it. She reappeared almost at the other end. She had to kick off and the land at the other end to fully make it and felt the warm gooey liquid hit the bottom of her show which as she suspected definately wasn't lava. She chuckled in glee knowing she fully made it and there was just one obstacle left. |
Post 6 After spending a minute or so checking if she hadn't splinched at all, Sophie finally stepped out of the hoop and made her way back to the Ministry people to be checked. She glanced as people appeared and disappeared througout the whole Great Hall and smiled. That was a funny sight. People popping all over the place and losing their balance - at least it wasn't jsut her, which was a relief - and looking quite determined. That was nice! Hopefully everyone would pass the test. Sophie stood near the instructors and waited for her turn to be checked for splinching. While she waited, she herself double checked to see if she could spot anything wrong with her. |
Post 3 Hoops next. Ella was a bit nervous because it had taken her a bunch of tries to get inside a hoop during the lesson, y'know? But she'd done a lot of mental preparation since then. Practicing focusing and building herself up so that she knew she could do it. That was important, yeah? Determination and all that. It helped that she'd successfully just crossed the room, too. Made her feel like maybe this wouldn't be a disaster after all. She just needed to keep her head right and she'd be golden. Three hoops to choose from and Ella was going for the one located in the center. Her green eyes narrowed in on it and she got a good mental picture of what it looked like and where she wanted to be. She was going to get to that hoop and land inside. There was no other option. First came the destination. Center hoop. Right inside. That's where she was headed. No way she was going to mess this up. Nope. Next came determination. She was determined to get into that center hoop. There was no way she was going to fail. She knew what she needed to do. Then deliberation. She was taking her time and focusing all her energy on moving to that place. No haste here. Not at all. Just lots of focus. And after a minute or two, eyes squeezed shut and willing herself to get to the center hoop, right in the middle, the blonde felt her body twisting in on itself. Like a great pressure weighing on her and she knew it was happening. Opening her eyes once more, the eighteen year old found herself inside the center hoop but she was wobbling a bit. No, no, no. She waved her arms to try and regain her balance which seemed to do the trick. Oh thank Merlin! She'd done it. Second task done. She was almost there! |
Post 5 When Oichi finally calmed down she focused on making it to the finally hoop. It was a little further away this time but she felt confident she could do it. She stared at the hoop of her choice and concentrated as she let her magic within flow and with a pop she was off. When she reappeared she looked down and saw she was in the hoop and jumped up and down with glee. She was done, she had done all she could and the only.step left was evaluation. |
Post 4 From her spot in the hoop, Ella looked around at the next set of obstacles she had to choose from. She wasn't particularly eager to jump over the lava, even if it wasn't real, so that was a big no. She'd only make herself nervous in anticipation and that wouldn't end well, she was sure. And knowing how delicate her body seemed to be lately, she wasn't keen on landing in the pot hole, either. The thing looked like a perfect way to break her bones and it was Quidditch season, y'know? She couldn't afford any trips to the healer. This meant that the puddle was the safest and most appealing option for her. No doubt about that. Eyes landing on the puddle closest to her, the eighteen year old focused on how she was going to make it safely over it without getting wet. She would not be landing in that puddle. Nope. Her mind was made up. So now she just had to get herself to the other side of it safely. No pressure. Not thinking about that. Eyes closed, the badger focused her mind on the exact place she'd be landing. She could do this. She could totally do this. She was going to be sure of her location too before moving. No hasty decisions form this girl. Not at all. And with all this in mind, she waited for something to happen. Come on, come on, come o- Turning on the spot, the blonde felt the familiar sensation of being pushed at from all directions and she kept her eyes squeezed shut until she felt the ground under her feet again. The dry ground...because she'd done it...and she was on the other side of the tunner...and GRIN! GRIN! GRIN! Did anyone see that?! Merlin! |
Post 6 Once Oichi came down from her high of finishing the exam she walked over to Cale, "Hi, I did it, I completed the exam, and I feel whole. Please tell me I am", Oichi said excitedly, she really wanted her license. |
6 Right. Okay. No more happy dancing. People might notice. They might think she was being rude and distracting and she really didn’t want to be rude or distracting. Instead, she took to inner squealing as she made her way back over to see Mr. Newell. Caterina knew she had all of the important body parts still. Both arms, both legs, her head. She could feel her nose and her eyes and her mouth and such, so she was hoping that everything was all in one piece. She clasped her hands behind her back (feeling all of her fingers, by the way), and waited her turn to speak with the man. Was this really happening? Was she really almost done? Could she go take a nap after this? |
Post #5 Now this next activity was the one that Terry feared the most. Essentially, although he was sure there'd be some form of protection as they wouldn't endanger the students, this part could be dangerous. Especially if it was reflected in real life but it was incredibly unlikely he'd find himself trapped by a pool of lava. The sixth year inspected each of the obstacles in turn, trying to decide which one took his fancy. Or which one would be best for him rather. He concluded that the puddle didn't seem like challenge enough, he wasn't scared of getting wet after all. The lava was also too unrealistic to be applied in practice and so therefore the only one left was the 20 foot deep pothole. It would definitely be a challenge and he supposed it could happen suddenly when he was walking down a street with how geologically unstable some areas were. He'd do this one then. He stood on one side of the pothole, briefly glancing down with a slight gulp. It was quite deep and dark, he wouldn't fancy falling down it. He looked back up and focused on a spot on the other side of the hole where he would be safe. His eyes stayed glued on the spot and he decided to not close his eyes this time. He wanted to focus on his destination. And then along came his determination. He was more determined to complete this one than any other task so far. He stayed there for a short while, making sure that he took his time and therefore essentially completed the third D. Here it goes. At the last minute he squeezed his eyes shut, mainly because it helped him get used to the sensation of the transportation. When he opened his eyes again he was ecstatic to see that he was safely on the other side of the pothole and had apparated over it successfully. With a proud beam on his face, Terry's attention went back to the final task ahead. Three down. One to go. |
Post #2 The smile was welcomed and, in fact, returned to the man. A little nervously and with the addition of a ruffle of his own hair. Because he was nervous. But then the man had said something about passing which made the nervous smile turn into a full on grin. "Thanks, sir!" he called, giving the man a two finger salute before heading off to tackle the practical portion. If all else fails, at least he could say that his theory was spot on? Yeah? ... But now... practical. Which meant that he needed to go over to that other side of the room. And the instructions? Apparate from the front of the room to the back? Sounded simple enough, even if the back of the room was so very far away. Anywhere near the back would be good, yeah? As long as it was towards the back? ... He... was going to assume so. Destination, determination and deliberation. Destination was the back of the room, and he was going to aim for that spot right THERE. Very close to the back of the room. Being specific would probably help him get to that spot and apparate successfully, he was sure of it. It had certainly helped him that second time. Determination... was... well... he was going to get there. Positive thinking and all, you know. And deep breaths. Now there was just one thing for it. The apparition. A couple more deep breaths were taken and he closed his eyes, trying to imagine the place in his mind. He tried to push away the thought that this was the actual test and there was no going back. Unless he decided to go to the Ministry over the summer to do it. ... No. Not happening. He'd rather get thi over and done with today. Breathe... breathe... ... The eighteen year old took a step forward and spun on the spot. The familiar not being able to breathe sensation was back. No, Alec had not missed that. No way. But this was a good sign, right? Because it had happened that other time too. Good sign or not, he still didn't like it and would have mentally willed for it to stop if it wasn't for the fact that he wanted to get to his destination. ... Just as he thought this, his feet slammed against the ground, causing him to let out a small groan at the pain that was shooting up from his legs and past his too-weak knees. And air. He could BREATHE! Which he was going to take full advantage of as he looked around. He... was at the back of the room! At the spot he had told himself to go to! YEAH. More breathing. Grins. Lots of deep breaths being taken. |
Post 6 Theo stayed inside the hoop for a few minutes just to make sure he hadn't splinched himself. Well, his arms and legs were still there, so that was a plus, his head still in tact, too! He smiled to himself, took a step outside of the hoop, and then nodded to all of the obstacles just to make sure he had completed all that was necessary. Seemed so! Okay... he was done? Theo tapped his fingers against his waist and then made his way to the front of the test room, to were Mr. Newell was waiting. There was a small queue, and Theo took a spot behind Cat who had apparently also finished. Gosh, his hands were sweating. DID HE PASS? DID HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE??? |
Post 5 So now all he had to do was appear back in the hoop his was just in. Was that it. Sounded simple enough. It need another breather before his stomach decides to revolt against him. Okay he could do this. He had just vanished and reappeared three times in a matter of minutes. So once more was not going to kill him. He was this close to the license now. Okay remember the Three D's. His destination was back in the hoop he was just in. Picture yourself in it. Nigel closed his eyes like usual and tuned out the fake lava that was in front of him and only thought of the hoop and that he would be in it. No need for more complicated thoughts right now. Yep there was that getting to be familiar feeling. Nigel felt him self being pulled Yes this was it. He opened his eyes and his arms went out apparently in a safe motion like in that muggle game. He had done it. He was inside the hoop. Exactly where he was a couple minutes ago. |
1 Sarah was so nervous.. like her whole future depended on this liscence... Not really, she could try again. The thing was that Sarah had never failed anything school related in her life. But this would be harder, the practical part. The theory would probably be a breeze. She had read through her notes the day before for that. She just wished she had practiced more, the practical always scared her? What if she lost concentration? Eek. Sarah sat dwon and began to write... It was easy at first, but when she got to the last question she was scared about the length. She did not want to write too much for that, but she had so much to add... In the end she cut her original answer dramatically, she wished they gave a wordcount. She brought her paper forward and gave a smile. This man was so good to take some time to do this for the school. He was probably being paid, but who cared. |
Post 6 Nigel did stay in his hoop just to make sure he was all there. He should have checked after each apparition. But was too excited he was doing to it remember. After a quick glance he saw he was whole. Nothing removed or missing. Awesome. He left the hoop sure he was done now. He did the front to back. To the hoop. Over the fake lava, and right back to the hoop. He was done. Now all that was left is the instructors had to check to see if there was no splinching. Well now the fun of waiting. He went over to where Cat and Theo were and waited to be examined. Fun |
Post 7 Tessa let out a breath of relief. All of her apparitions had gone well- with only one case where she hadn't done it on the first try. Not bad, right? She walked up to the supervisors with a tired smile. She was exhausted- mentally and physically. But it was a good feeling. That meant she had tried her hardest. "I have completed all of the tasks, I'm ready to be checked for splinching," she said, her smile widening. Now, the true question- had she passed? |
Post 5 One more thing stood between her and her apparition license and that was another hoop. But that was brilliant, yeah? Because Ella had done the hoop jumping thing several times already, during the lesson and once during this test. She knew she could do it. If confidence was key, she was all set for this particular task. So from where she stood, Ella focused on the hoop on the right. She focused all her attention on the center of that one, knowing she needed to land safely inside. This was it, just one more thing to do and she was done. The anticipation was almost enough to distract her. Almost. Destination? She was going right into the middle of that right hoop. Determination? She had it. She could see herself standing in the hoop, a smile on her face. Deliberation. Yup. Her mind was made up. This was happening. And after taking a deep breath and closing her eyes, she felt herself turning on the spot. The pressure was welcome this time because she knew what was waiting for her and all she could do was will herself to land. Once her feet were on the ground again, the eighteen year old peeked her eyes open. One first, and then the other, a slow smile playing on her lips because she did it, she was IN the hoop. DJHUHDJSHJGDJGJGKHG! She let out a little squeak of excitement and then slapped a hand over her mouth, embarrassed. This was a big deal though, right? GAH! She was SO excited. Could she flail about this with Sophie later? She didn't even care if it hurt. |
Post #3 One successful apparition was down. One task had been completed. And he had... ... lots more to go. ... No! He shouldn't be thinking like that. Just... tackle the others? One at a time? Awesome idea. Nodding to himself, Alec glanced over at the board. Apparate to one of the three hoops? Grey eyes flitted over towards the hoops that were twenty feet ahead of him instead. This was a lot like the practice when they had to apparate into a, heh, hoop. Which he had managed to do. There was a small difference, though, in that he had placed a cushion near the hoop which he had then faceplanted into once he had apparated into the hoop. ... There... was no way he'd be able to faceplant onto the floor. Or he shouldn't do that. More deep breaths were being taken now as he focused his attention on the middle hoop in particular. That one. That was the one he was going to apparate into. He was going to make sure to do it because... he can. Or had managed to do it at least once. See, there was both destination and determination right there. It was funny how both of those went hand in hand. Now apparating. Step forward. Spin. Move with deliberation... ... The tightening sensation around his chest was back, forcing himself to squeeze his eyes shut even more. Did Apparating have to come with this sensation too? Couldn't it be something a bit more... nice? Fun? Less of the hurting chest part because he really didn't appreciate that. His feet slammed into the ground once again, something else he didn't quite appreciate. Alec peeked open his eyes and looked down and around him. ... Was that... the hoop? Looking over at the other two and then at his spot... the boy grinned. The middle hoop. Hey there! Could he take a small break? Please? Did he have enough time? |
Post 6 All done, yeah? Ella took a few minutes to catch her breath, feet still firmly planted in the center of the hoop. Her chest still felt sort of compressed even after she'd landed but her excitement overtook any sort of panicky feeling she'd normally be feeling. All she really wanted to do was feel well enough to go get checked out. She was sure all her fingers and toes were accounted for but she knew the rules. Deep breath in, deep breath out, in, out, breathe. Now she felt better. Defintiely. After stepping out of the hoop and looking back at it with a smile, the blonde slowly headed over to the instructor dude and held her arms out in front of her. "Ready for inspection, Sir." GRIN! And others were waiting too? Excited looks for them. This was brilliant, yeah? |
Post 6! After having completed all the tasks that had been written on the board Tag gave it another look and realized he had done all the hard parts of the apparition test. Perfect. He was nearly done. Now, all he had to do was go see the instructor and or his assistant, they would check him out and then he was all good to go? Or do they pass, fail the student on the spot? That was quite scary. So, Tag made his way around the hall, making sure to not get in any of his classmates way, and walked all the way up to the front of the hall where the instructor stood. Tag gave either the man or his assistant a small smile before speaking "Hello, I've finished all the tasks that's been written on the board. Does it matter who checks me for splinching, or no?" There would be no more apparating or anything like that, right? But anyway, Tag simply stood there quietly waiting for the final say. |
Post 5 Mo flexed and rolled out his shoulders, which had gone all tight and hunched after that last BIG apparition across the puddle. For all that he'd been so worried, it was kind of nice to note that he only had one more apparition left. Not something to take too lightly, but it certainly wasn't as stressful as the first few tasks had been. He decided to aim for the middle hoop again, not out of safety this time, but because it was like an old friend. Return from whence you came and all that. After stepping back carefully from the edge of the puddle, Mo resumed that same loose, comfortable stance that he'd discovered - the one that didn't pinch his lungs and joints in an uncomfortable vice. Breathe in, breathe out... and ready. One last successful apparition, and Mo could treat himself to cake in the kitchen. Hopefully, Cat would be successful too, and they could have a party. But focus on the moment for now. Mo closed his eyes as he deliberately cleared his mind and pictured his destination, the middle hoop. And he certainly was determined, as would anyone who didn't prefer to leave behind vital body parts. He turned on the spot and willed himself into that hoop across the room. It made sense to do this over and over, really, because this was almost starting to feel easy. No, not easy... but normal. Doable on a regular basis. When Mo apparated into that middle hoop, he pretty much had himself convinced that it would be easy someday and that he wouldn't mind having to always get about via this method of transportation. Almost, but not quite. Heh. At least he'd apparated. |
Post #4 ... So... he needed to hurry up if he wanted to get this done in time. Yeah. Glancing over at the board, Alec squinted a little to see the next set of instructions. Obstacles? His eyes tore away from the board and over towards... the puddles? Potholes? LAVA?! He blinked at each of them a couple of times before looking up at the board again. The lava wasn't real. Awesome. That reminded him of the game he used to play where he'd pretend that the floor was made of lava and tried to jump from one sofa to the other. Awesome game. ... Right. Apparition. Alec shook his head before looking over at... the lava. He was going to tackle that one because it was the scariest, probably, and if he managed to apparate to the other side, he'd feel a lot better and more confident with himself. ... That was what he needed. Confidence. Something that he couldn't borrow from someone he knew. Shame. So... he had to get to the other side of the lava. Which meant... he was going to try and apparate over to that spot over THERE. Specifics, again. That was the destination down. Determination... he was going to make it to the other side safely and successfully otherwise... well... lava. Fake lava but lava nonetheless. Deliberation... deliberation... deeeeeeeep breaths... ... one step forward... ... spin... The Hufflepuff was really very glad that he had taken a very deep breath this time. It didn't make the sensation go away completely but it make it a little easier to bear. And it didn't feel as if his chest was being as tightly compressed as before. ... Come on... ... And then he landed. On... ground? Was it the ground? Blinking his eyes open, the seventh year grinned when he noticed that his feet were standing on solid ground and not dipped in fake lava. He wiggled his toes a little in excitement before looking up and over at the board. He had done it! AWESOME. |
Post 6 Stepping out of the final hoop was about the best feeling that Mo had ever experienced. There were a few things above it - first kisses and first Quidditch matches as Captain and first matches Chasing with West and Theo - but it was really really high on the list. So high, in fact, that Mo practically skipped across the room to present himself to Mr. Newell. He held out both his arms for examination. "No splinching, sir! I have all my limbs, internal organs, facial features, and hair. I even have both my pockets." Ahem. Could he get a gold star, please? 'Cause this Ravenclaw was ready to be DONE with testing. |
Post #5 He was nearly done. Very nearly done. All he had to do is complete that one final step and go to get himself examined by Mr Newell and the Lady whose name he didn't know. Splinching, you know. Something Alec definitely wasn't going to think about because... ... no. Just no. Shaking his head, he looked back over at the board. Apparate into one of the hoops? The same one as before or... a different one? The Hufflepuff turned around and glanced over at the hoops that were laid out before. Maybe he could apparate over towards the middle one again? It would just be like apparating back and forth. And he had done it before so... ... Middle one. Destination selected. Deep breaths... deep breaths... Determination came next. He needed to be determined to get to that middle hoop. The fact that he had done it before did help. Really. Maybe not from this end of the lava but he had apparated out of there to here so... yeah. He nodded to himself, as if someone else was motivating him instead of it just being a tiny voice in his head. Deep breaths... he took a step forward, spun and... ... He had been expecting that sensation to come back. What he hadn't been expecting, when he landed safely in the middle of the middle hoop, was this feeling of wooziness and a sick feeling settling in in the pit of his stomach. Lots of apparition on his part. Alec stood there and took a couple of deep breaths. Just breathe... he had done it. It was really nearly over. ... He had done it! How AWESOME was it to tell himself that? |
You are all SAINTS for being patient with me. Thank you!! Quote:
"Well, congratulations sir, seems everything is all in tact! I was watching you complete all your tests as well and it seems like you know your stuff. You've passed!" he said with a smile. Cale handed him a small piece of parchment indicating that the boy had passed. All he had to do was sign it and hand it back to him so they knew what name to put on his license! Quote:
"Great job! You passed," he said, gesturing towards the practical portion. Yes, go test Missy, you've got some catching up to do! Quote:
She handed it to him and he took the test from the captain, grading it magically and then smiling. "Pass. Good job!" Quote:
"Congrats, you've passed!" he said, handing her to form to fill out. Quote:
"Good job, you've passed - be careful though, real lava won't be that nice," he added with a small wink at the girl before handing her the certificate to indicate she had passed. Quote:
"Congratulations, you've passed!" he said with a grin before handing her the little slip of parchment to fill out. Quote:
Anyways back to the subject at hand! "Good job, sir! You've passed," he said with a smile before handing the boy his certificate. Quote:
Quote:
"Great job, you earned your license!" he announced with a grin. Here. Take your paper and fill it out please! Quote:
"No splinching! Great job, that means you passed," he said with a grin, handing her the form for her to fill out for her license. Quote:
"Congrats! Please fill this out," he said as he handed her the form. Quote:
"Relax, you did fine! You passed," he said with a smile, handing him one of the papers to fill out before leaving. Quote:
What was with all this gray hair, by the way? Some new fashion statement? Hmmm... OOC: Ok, so if you passed, Cale just handed you a quick form to fill out for your certificate. All you need to do is provide your name and DOB. For example: |
Post #6 So... he had one last thing left to do and that included going up to Mr Newell for the final examination. Still taking deep breaths, Alec looked around at the hoops near him, and then at the obstacle selection and then around the room in general. This hadn't been bad, really. Lots of apparition, sure, but it had still been pretty great. The sensation wasn't great, though. That tightening at the chest area part especially. But it still felt great. Saying that he was done with this whole process and had managed to apparate successfully on those occasions. With a grin spread across his face, the eighteen year old stepped out of the hoop and headed over slowly towards Mr Newell. It would be sad if he had ended up splinching. But... surely splinching came with some sort of pain? Because a part of you was being left behind. He hadn't felt anything being left behind... right? Reaching Mr Newell and Lady -- he needed to find out her name -- the Head Boy grinned over at them before saying, "Hey, Sir! I've finished all the tasks that were written on the board." More grins. Excited grins this time. |
Post #6 Okay. Just this one small task left. And it was exactly the same as the second task he had completed so it really shouldn't be that hard. Should it? He stood away from the right hoop again, thinking that perhaps it was his lucky hoop and that his landing would be just as perfect as the first one he had done. He closed his eyes once more, deciding that it did help him to concentrate a lot better and it certainly helped him to focus on the 3 D's. Once he felt he was ready, the Slytherin concentrated on the spot and envisioned it in his mind. His destination. Followed by his determination and deliberation. Okay. This was it. He could do this! And with the sudden whirring feeling in his stomach Terry knew he had gone somewhere at least. He opened his eyes expectantly, hoping that it had gone just as perfectly as the first time. Luckily for the seventeen year old, it had. He was back in that hoop! Perfectly in the centre and standing firmly on his feet. He had done it! He had passed his test. Well.. He had to check with the instructor first of course. |
Post 7? Tag stood rather still as the instructor checked him over. No joke that the boy was literally holding his breath in. This was rather intense. Not being checked out *wink* but waiting to see if he was ok and if he was going to pass his apparition test. After a couple of minutes the instructor spoke to Tag and he let out a sigh of relief. 0_____________________0 "Really?!" He'd passed?! Was he sure he was looking at Tag. The boy stayed still, even more, and just stared at the man, unblinking. Him? Tag? Tag had passed apparition? Well, even if the man had, or could've or maybe even might've mixed up Tag with someone else, he wasn't going to question it. He passed, whether he had passed or 'Tag' had passed. But as soon as he let that thought go, all he could do was smile at him. Wow. He'd passed. The blonde took the slip of certificate and looked at it. Right, all he had to do was write his name and date of birth. Easy enough. Tag Kildare 15th December 2065 And with that the boy saluted at the instructor, gave him the paper and left the great hall with a smile plastered on his face. |
Post 7 Nigel waited holding his breath in. Please no splinching. Please. He waited for it seemed like forever until.....He passed. Nigel exhaled. Now he could relax. Awesomely Awesome! He passed! He was getting his license and it seemed like Mo passed also. The Blue Bros could apparate. Now he could apparate when he gets home for break or summer. Whenever. He was of age. "Thank You" Nigel said before taking the form to fill out. Quote:

Oh! YAAAAY, she had passed!!!! Inner flailage!!! Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeheeeeee, brilliant! Another cool magic she could do when she left school! Merlin, leaving Hogwarts wouldn't be that terrible after all. Of course, she'd still miss the school, but the future seemed to be getting cooler and cooler! WOOP!! "Thank you, sir!!" She beamed at the man and took the form to fill out. Quote:
HOORAY!! |

She took the parchment and very carefully filled it out. Caterina Moretti August 16, 2066 "There." She said with more grins, handing it back to the man. Everything was done now? For reals? Oh hey! Look! There was Mo! HI MO. HUGS FOR PASSING? |
Sander breathed a sigh of relief and he began to smile from ear to ear. "I passed? Oh thank you, thank you, Mr. Newell." Sander thanked the instructor holding back the urge to hug the man and swing him around. He took the parchment from him and began to fill out his particulars. Text Cut: Parchment Then he walked up to Mr. Newell and returned his completed parchment to him. Sander nodded and gave the man another smile of gratitude before turning to see whether Tessa had passed too. From the smile on her face, he knew she had. Girlfriend had passed too. Now she, he could hug and swing around but he'd do that once they were outside the classroom. |

She offered him an even bigger grin as he said that she had passed. That would make seeing her father so much easier- not to mention helping him with his work. "Thank you sir," she told him, taking the form. She found a place and scribbled down her information: Quote:
"Here you go, sir," she said, handing the paper back. "Thank you so much for the opportunity," she told him with a smile. She glanced around and saw Sander, skipping up to him with a grin. They would talk after they left- others were still testing after all! |
Post #7 So, now he could go get checked over by the instructors. This was so exciting, he was only a few moments away from hopefully gaining his license. He could apparate all over the place legally. The Slytherin checked himself over briefly just to make sure himself that he hadn't been splinched. He couldn't see anything visibly on him and he was pretty sure that he would feel some sort of pain if he had left anything behind. He checked his eyebrows and hair and eyelashes too. Once he was 100% satisfied that he hadn't left anything anywhere he headed over to the instructors, a big grin on his face. "I'm here to get checked" he smiled, although he was still pretty nervous inside. He wouldn't be completely happy until he was told that he had passed. He stood there until he was addressed, hoping that everything had gone as well as he thought it had. He glanced around to see that a lot of his friends had already got their certificates. Hopefully he was only a couple of minutes behind. |
SPOILER!!: Tessa Sander waited for Tessa to hand in her parchment to the instructor, before walking over to her. He gave her a wink and a grin, and mouthed "Let's go celebrate, once we are given permission to leave." before turning to patiently watch the others, as they attempted to finish up their practical portion of the test. |

No, apparently she still had to do the... apparating part. With a small smile towards the instructor, Alice rose from her seat, moving to the front of the room. Not splinching couldn't be too difficult, right? It hadn't been a problem during the actual lesson, but appearing in a different spot had. Didn't matter, though. There was a lot more riding on her performance today, and the seventh year could work under pressure. Kind of. Sort of. Her eyes flickered shut, mind filling with the thoughts of how the back of the room looked like and her desire to be there. A few seconds later, the squeezing sensation overcame her. Burning lungs, pressure all over her body, the feeling that she'd never ever breathe again... Alice could tell it had worked. And when her eyes opened again, she was there. A few feet off from the spot she had been focusing on, but no one could possibly know that, and she could remedy her concentration issues as she went. Whew. One part down. |

BUT ONWARDS. Okay bye sir, thanks for that. Thumbs up for him and offfffffffff she went. - - Intense stomach rumbling as the nerves set in. Panic faces also. Maybe she could pretend she was so good at this that they hadn't even noticed her going through all the tasks. Or maybe not. Els wiped her sweaty palms onto her clothes, and took a deep breath. And then she closed her eyes, wiggled a few times and got her con cen traaaaaaaaaate on. Good brain. Yes, brain. Elodie gave no thought whatsoever to taking time to consider anything that could go wrong, because one slip in that direction...and she was going to end up a damsel in distress. And that was definitely not her. Nooooooooo. She didn't need any SAVING. Which was why she was going to ace this. ACE IT. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Comin' at you, apparition. Takin' you down, apparition. She peeked her eye open to look properly where she was supposed to be going, and then closed it when she felt she knew it well enough to get this right. When she'd concentrated enough on what she needed to, Els felt a still-unfamiliar tug and scrunched her eyes up tighter for a few more seconds. And when the tugging had subsided, and she didn't feel like she was going to fall over or throw up (skipping breakfast had been a good idea), she opened them. One eye. Two eye. Blinking. And she could totally see where she had just been from here. TASK 1 SUCCESSSSSSS. Such a damsel, apparition. |
Post 3 Were all her parts THERE with her? Alice checked for clothes and shoes and then all her limbs. Sadly, she couldn't very well count the hairs on her head, but they felt all there. That meant she could properly move on to the next task, which was apparating to... hoops? 20 feet was far, but she'd done around half that distance in the lesson. It'd be easy. Please let it be easy. Closing her eyes, the seventh year tried to imagine that there were fluffy pillows lining all sides of her destination. It wasn't as if she'd truly botched up to the point of falling during practice (save for the swamp incident, but she wasn't counting that) so there was nothing to worry about, yes? Fingers crossed, Alice concentrated all her energy and focus on that spot in the very center of the hoop. And once she turned on the spot, the familiar feeling of being pushed at from all sides engulfed her body once more.... .... and then stopped. Was she dead? No. Was she in one piece? Yes. Was she in the right spot? She glanced down at found herself standing very, VERY close to the edge of a hoop.... but still inside of it! Yes! Success! That counted, right? |
