Cale MIGHT have over planned just a bit for his first apparition lesson at the school. When it came to apparition, anything could happen and he wanted to be prepared for it all. He had brought a number of cushions and rings to help the kids practice (and also in case someone fell, you could never be too careful!) as well as a portable swamp for...well, for later. For right now though, just take a seat on one of the pillows. There's plenty of everyone!
He had a nice whiteboard set up behind him so they could go over the practical stuff, and now he was just waiting on the kids and waiting on Missa, his apparition instructor. Once they were all there, they could proceed. He checked his watch anxiously. Any minute now...
OOC: Hello kiddos! Feel free to take a seat and chill for a while. The lesson will begin in approximately 24 hours. You should NOT be allowed to RP in this lesson unless your character WILL BE OF AGE/IS ALREADY OF AGE during the current school term (this includes summer birthdays BEFORE September 1st, the cut off date for each year). Anyone RPing who is not the correct age WILL be kicked out and points docked. Basically, if you aren't a sixth year, you shouldn't be here!
The swamp is set up towards the back of the room, so feel free to have them wonder and ponder over why it's there, but don't touch it! Cale is here, he is watching AND he's a former prefect so don't try anything funny!

Apparition? YEAH!
... Though... there was one problem and that included just how achey and tired he had been feeling lately. His usually brisk walk had turned into an amble thanks to his back and all he really wanted to do was sit down again. Sitting down was probably not an option with the Apparition lessons, right?
But... Apparition. Alec was PUMPED for this lesson.
Grinning, the Head Boy headed into the room and cast his eyes around. Cushions? So they were going to be able to sit down? If so, he was very very happy with this arrangement already. His eyes then fell on the... what... BLINK. Was that a swamp? What were they going to be doing with a swamp in the room? ... Should he ask? Probably not.
There was a man there so... he should greet him, yeah? "Hello!" he called, giving the man a smile and a nod. And he was just going to take a seat on one of the cushions, yeah? Awesome. The eighteen year old lowered himself down on a cushion near the man, letting out a small sigh of relief when he had settled down. There. This was much better than all that walking all the way from... ... the common room.

Theo was SO ready for this. It was cool to learn apparition within the school, too, since it would be familiar and stuff. As much as he was excited, he was also a little daunted by the whole idea. Brand new things like this took Theo a very long time to grasp, but at least this was an exciting thing to learn. That would definitely speed things along. APPARITION. Gosh.
He beamed the whole way into the room, his eye immediately catching on the swamp at the back. Whyyyyyyyyyyy was that important?
Theo decided to ignore it and took a seat on a cushion that was very close to the teacher's. "Hi." He said brightly, but his smile faded at the sight of Alec. Why did it have to be HIM of all people that was here first? He nodded in his direction but paid little attention to him after that.
No need to bring up any bathroom related stories today, right?

Oichi had been waiting to take Apparition lessons for quite time. She happened not to turn 17 in her 6th year but she had over the summer. She watched her freinds learn to apparate and eventually get it. She was proud of them but she also felt left out, they could and did go wherever they wanted over the summer without her. But finally it was her turn to learn apparition and be able to go right along with her 7th year friends wherever once she was out on her own. Upon entering she saw a swamp in the back and wondered what a swamp would have to do with apparition. Oichi saw the instructor, "Oh, I just hope that swamp isn't incentive to get apparition right the first time because I would rather not get soaked today".
Awesome. Now this is what Nigel was waiting for. No more taking a car or even getting a ride. Though road trips were awesome. This was Apparition. It definitely helped lazy people get place without the time needed in other transportation vehicles.
"Hello"
He said calmly to the Instructor. Now this was a little awkward being that the only two people here he knew were Theo and Alec. Did not want to remember grey hair and awkward bathroom moments. Thank You Very Much. Though it was kind of hard to forget grey hair, since he was getting a few more strands of it. Evil
Wonder what was up with the swamp? Probably something interesting for sure.

Apparition. And Tag. Maybe not the best thing ever. Something bad was bound to happen but that bridge will be crossed when the time comes. For now though, Tag made his way into the room and got a good sight of it. Seemed rather prepared for anything. Precautions were being taken it seemed. "Hi sir. What's the probability that I'm going to hurt myself today? Or I should say injure?"
Like he needed to know. This was important. Tag was more than certain people would be upset with him if he got himself majorly hurt.
Anyway the boy then found his way around the place and took a cushion next to Alec. But he just gave his friend a nod. If they start talking now they may not shut up when the lesson begins.

Sander entered the room. Apparation lessons. Apparating had always been one of the magical abilities Sander always wanted to have. So here he was eager to learn. He walked up to the instructor and greeted him.
"Hello Sir, thank you for coming here to teach us how to apparate. I'm looking forward to your lesson." Sander told the instructor.
He noticed the Headboy and Tag already there and waved hello to them before finding a cushion to sit on. Then he waited patiently for class to start.

Apparation. This was something that Layla had mixed feelings about. She'd heard that it could be incredibly uncomfortable, but at the same time, it would definitely cut down on traveling time. Not to mention that she wouldn't have to take an airplane or car everywhere. Being trapped in what was basically a flying tin can with a whole bunch of screaming babies and misbehaving children was never fun.
Anyway, Layla plopped down on a pillow and waited for the weird looking man to start. And tried not to make faces at how weird said dude looked.

Apparition.
She'd been waiting to learn how to apparate for forever. At least it felt that way to Ella. The Head Girl made her way into the room slowly, hair braided to hide the increasingly grey hair as best she could. She was wearing a smile too despite the aches and pains she'd been feeling lately because nothing could spoil this day. Nope.
"Hello!" She greeted cheerfully, eyes on the instructor dude. And then she saw boys. Lots of boys. A few girls too but yeah. Everyone was given smiles but a certain Head Boy got most of the attention. Hi boyfriend.
Taking up a cushion next to the hair ruffler, the eighteen year old tried to get comfy as best she could and let her eyes wander. That...was a swamp. She definitely didn't want to land in there.

Ooh.
Well this was exciting. His first apparition lesson. A skill he had wanting to acquire for a while now. Just the freedom of being able to go wherever you wanted as easy as closing your eyes, or at least that was basically what it looked like.
The sixth year made his way to where the lessons were being held, a big smile on his face but a rather worrisome patch of grey hair had appeared on his fringe and it was bugging the boy to no extent. He could just see it dangling there as he walked. Why would it even be there?! He was young for Merlin's sake! Still, at least the click in his hip wasn't getting any worse, he hoped it wasn't anyway.
"Hello" he greeted the man who was going to take the lesson before the Slytherin flopped carefully on the cushion next to Theo whispering a 'hey' to him too.
He glanced around, flashing a brief smile at those that he was familiar with. Wait. Why did they need a swamp?
So could they get this started then? This looked a blast!

Apparition lesson. Awesome. This was something that would definitely be useful outside Hogwarts. So hopefully it wouldn't be as hard to master as it seemed. Not that she had much use for it while she was at Hogwarts, but it would be nice to have it totally mastered by the time summer came around.
"Hi," she greeted the man at the front with a nod, before choosing a random pillow to sit on.

Pillows, huh? At what point had it become more normal NOT to have students sit at desks than to provide a that sturdy writing surface? Mo glanced at those gathered before grabbing up a pillow and dropping to the floor well in the middle of things. Y'know what would be awesome?
If they got to try something fancy today. Not just theory... but some practical application.

The weird thing was that there were quite a few seventh years here and West was kinda eyeing them wondering why they hadn't learned to apparate already. If it were him, he'd have been doing his lessons at the Ministry over Summer or Christmas if he'd been eligible.
But whatever, here he was.
The Slytherin Captain found a spot next to Mo, gave him an excited grin and then looked around. Oh there was Theo. He gave his mate a 'sup nod, but didn't move to join him, he remained by Mo instead.

'Course Alice was here. She'd read loads about Apparition but hadn't actually had the opportunity to attend any lessons yet, on account of those not provided by Hogwarts charged extra. Her grandparents had told her to wait for the Ministry administered classes at school, so that was exactly what she did. It hadn't been that long of a wait, really.
Entering the hall quietly, she chose the spot next to Alec, the one not occupied by his girlfriend. And stayed silent. And waited.
And prayed she wouldn't vomit when she tried it.

Of course Lily was curious about Apparition. At least, she was curious enough that she wasn’t about to skip lessons, as being able to Apparate on her own would be useful. She didn’t want to have to depend on her family forever, and always do Side-Along Apparition. She was old enough, and the fact they had lessons here at school was exciting. Maybe by the time the term was over, she’d be able to do this by herself. It’d be amusing to just appear at Aunt Elizabeth’s house after getting back to London, anyway, or maybe she’d even be able to visit New York or go back home without waiting for her father to get her. She wasn’t entirely clear on what was possible, after all, and that was why lessons were good. That way she wouldn’t be apt to accidentally splinch herself while trying to travel places she shouldn’t be able to go.
She eyed the little swamp as she skirted the edge of it upon entering, however. That was another thing she’d rather not Apparate into, even if her boots would hopefully keep most of the muck away from her feet. She didn’t even know why it was there. The cushions made sense, and even the rings, but a swamp seemed odd. Hopefully that would be explained soon, as she finally switched her attention to the man at the front of the room. “Hello,” she said simply. He hadn’t introduced himself, and there wasn’t a nametag that she could see, so she felt like that gave her an excuse for not addressing him by name. She wasn’t psychic or anything, after all. She didn’t know everyone, but at least she knew Alec. The Head Boy got a wave as she’d settled onto a cushion, but other than that, she’d remained quiet. Questions could wait, and for now she’d settle on humming softly to pass the time until the lesson got started.

Interesting lesson! YUP! She's been waiting for this day since like forever. Or since she was old enough to know about it anyway. But she was really excited. Really. And she was also ready. Her hair was pulled back in a pony-tail and she made sure to tuck in all the short strand of hairs. She didn't need anything to distract her. She knew enough about the importance of concentration.
The blond poked her head inside making sure it was where the lesson was held. Since her friends were inside so it meant she was right, yeah?
Slipping in she offered nods and smiles as she passed by her classmates. At least if she sucked, it wouldn't be in front of strangers. Except the man who was gonna teach them. She nodded towards him then went ahead and plopped down on a pillow next to Theo and Terry. She beamed at them greetingly. Weren't they excited!

"Hello. Hi. Welcome!" Cale said with a smile at each student as they greeted him. He also smiled at all the kids who walked in and chose to ignore him - Slytherins of course. Why was he surprised?
He had to stop thinking like that. He had kids in Slytherin now!
Right, back to the kids who had stopped to talk to him...

When a young Gryffindor approached him, he blinked. That was a good question - hopefully not very great but it was different for each person. "Um, hopefully not very high. As long as you concentrate and follow all the steps - you should be fine," he explained. That was why he had brought pillows, after all!
The boy's fear of getting injured reminded him a lot of himself at that age.

Oh, what a polite Hufflepuff! "Of course, my pleasure. I hope you enjoy the lesson!" he exclaimed as the boy headed off to sit by his friends. Now those manners needed to be taught to ALL the kids here, since some of them hadn't even said hi on their way in!
*****
So, now that everyone was seated, he decided it was a good time to started. Missa was running late, but he didn't really need her till the last part of the lesson anyways, so he figured he'd jump right in and not stall any longer.
"Hello everyone! Welcome to Apparition classes. My name is Cale Newell...not to be confused with my son, Caleb..." he added, shooting a smirk at the Slytherins "...and I am at the Department Head for Magical Transportation at the Ministry of Magic. I'm a former Hogwarts alum myself," he added with a grin. He wouldn't brag TOOOOO much about his former successes here, after all, he was here to TEACH, not brag!
"The lesson portion is going to be relatively short. Once you learn the basics, there's not much left to do but throw you into the practice session and hope for the best!" he explained with a small chuckle. "So do take a few notes, because this portion WILL appear on your written test. Luckily for you guys, my team and I have been hard at work at the Ministry assuring that our new course prepares you for the test in as little as two weeks. Yes, in two weeks, you can get tested when we come back to Hogwarts, and you should all be prepared by then! If not, you can always come back later during your summer breaks and test in the Ministry," he explained to them. He had faith in them, though - they were smart kiddos, right? Apparition was nothing compared to Arithmancy and those crazy subjects.
"So as I said, let's jump right into the technicalities of Apparition. First off, how does it all WORK? How are we able to travel places without a wand or incantation?" he asked them. He took out his wand and prepared himself to add the answers given to the whiteboard behind him.

Nigel and Theo hadn't been far behind. Nigel. AND. Theo. Awkward. Because of hair and bathroom incidents. Though, him and Nigel did share a hair tragedy which made Alec wonder how the boy's hair was doing. No more greys? He hoped not.
Nods and smiles were given but Ells and Tag and Hulk got grins. HEY there.
... Caleb? Caleb Newell? Brother of... Sophie Newell. Sophie Newell was the girl who started that rumour and possibly had a crush on Cutty Mordaunt. ... That was a little confusing. He did remember Cutty mentioning a Caleb and the fight he had gotten into.
... Not the right time to think about that. Mainly because... BLINK. Two weeks? TWO?! They'll be able to take the exam in that time?! The lesson had just gotten a whole lot scarier. He couldn't even able to crack open an egg properly without smashing it, how was he meant to be able to take an apparition test in TWO WEEKS?!
Deep breaths... deep breaths... Just answer the question, yeah? How did it work? Really? He didn't know. Alec hadn't given it much thought and didn't know much apart from knowing that you disappear from one place and appear somewhere else. "Erm... sir?" Mr Newell? They didn't have to call him Professor, did they? "I think... having a lot of intent would help you. Intent and focus." ... Was that answering the question? He hoped so.

Newell.
Ella knew that name. She smiled slightly thinking of the younger girl who'd been up to no good on the train ride in. Small world. They were related too, yeah?
Anyway, parchment and quill were taken out because if she was being tested in two weeks, she was going to be more than prepared for it. She wasn't down for failing, especially not this.
"Confidence would probably help too, Sir." Just, y'know, tacking on to what Alec had said. "You need to know what you're doing, where you're going, and be certain you can manage it, yeah? Best way not to get splinched."
Browncoat l Extra Syrup l Kita's Strong Confident Other Half l Lemon Patch
Dora was sitting beside Alice, glad the girl was up front for this class because Dora didn't want to miss a thing and had no plans of leaving this lesson. The ONLY one worth coming to in her opinion, since she was so fascinated with methods of travel this year. Particularly the practical parts and not just theory since she did all of that on her own.
"The same way one would be able to preform wandless magic noverbally, I'd assume. With increased intent, and concentration. And a lot of practice. Although this is much simpler since it's such a widely used form of transportation." And it took a hell of a powerful warlock or witch to be able to do wandless magic noverbally. "It also can be more dangerous if preformed wrong." But that was the exciting part, right? She rocked on her pillow a bit and glanced around.

That name did seem familiar to Nigel. Something about the Prefect Compartment and having to search for imaginary creatures. It indeed was a small world. Nigel got out his writing instruments when he heard the words written test.
This was a very important test. Even though he did have his muggle driver license. He wanted to apparate.
"Clear Mind and yeah concentrating on your destination."
Splinching sounded painful.

Oh good it was starting. And this would only take two weeks to learn before taking the test? Even better. The Gryffindor was a little more inclined to take notes for once, so she took out some parchment and a quill. Hopefully she wouldn't have to take too many notes though. Just a few.
So how does Apparition work? Penelope considered it for a moment before raising her hand. "Still works by magic, yeah? Even though there's no incantation or wand needed or anything. But it's not something a Muggle can do." Probably be useful for them too though if they could.

Tessa was so excited to be here and she listened to the man introduce himself, practically bouncing in her chair. This would make travel so much easier- especially since her father liked to go to the more remote regions of the world. She pushed back her hair, listening carefully as he spoke.
As he posed his question, she sat back thoughtfully. She had seen it done, on numerous occasions. "Just as they've said," she indicated the other students who had come. "You need a destination in mind, and be imagining yourself there, you are," she said with a smile. She couldn't wait to try it herself. Although, her first preference would probably always be to fly.
Okay so I may get wrt but injury is not like a long as I listen, well thats good
