Post 6 - Sixth Years Quote:
"So... maybe something else?" Mo scrubbed his hair and was disgusted to discover how thin his hair was getting on top. This old man thing was just... well... old. "How about Thurisaz? I was thinking that Ansuz is about order and reason, and Thurisaz is chaos and destruction." Seemed kinda opposite to him. "I'll try the incantation this time." Mo pointed his wand at the middle Ansuz and carefully traced out the shape of the Thurisaz over top of it. "Intaglio Thurisaz. Intaglio Thurisaz. Intaglio Thurisaz." At first, nothing happened. The Nauthiz rune produced no reaction. Once the Thurisaz rune started taking shape, a smell of burnt wood started to spread, followed by very thin smoke. |
Post 3: Team 1-3 Text Cut: Pre-chanting stuff Professor Man, though, he had the final word on it and HA! Oh! Sophie agreed. Cutty squinted his eyes at her a bit and gave a subtle shake of the head before joining in on the chanting. "Hagalaz, Hagalaz, Hagalaz, h, h, h, h, h, h, h, h...", He sort of trailed off though, the sound of their collective chanting sounding to him eerie. He liked it. |
do not wait for my personal permission to carve, you already have it :) Quote:
Botros chanted on and on and ooonnn with the kids until the carving was done. He waited for a moment. No smoke whatsoever. He brought his face dangeously close to the wall and sniffed loudly. Nope, nothing, nada. SNIIIIIIIFFF. "Does anyone smell anything?" SNIFF SNIFF. He was sure it was Hagalaz. Why didn't it work. He squinted his eyes at the carved rune, it looked good enough. |

Nothing was happening. Did that mean... maybe it was the wrong rune? Or was there something else significant about the curse? Or maybe it had to be carved again? Tobias glanced at Botros out of the corner of his eye to see what the man made of it, only to find him... uh... sniffing the wall. Well, THAT at least told him that they were meant to be seeing something happen. Or, smelling something happen. "I'll have a go," Tobias volunteered, and moved closer to the wall and the curse. He went as quickly as he could without hurting, but was still kind of shuffly. Okay then. Here goes. Toby raised his wand and cleared his throat and started, figuring the Galdr chanting would happen again while he carved this rune over the others. "Intaglio Hagalaz Hagalaz Hagalaz Hagalaz..." And on and on he went, repeating the name of the rune until he'd carved what looked like a capital H, but with a slanty middle bit. "... Hagalaz Hagalaz..." And then he was finished, and he stepped back, and he waited. The second Hagalaz worked, smoke started rising from the rune. |
"Do we...smell anything?" Sophie asked. She wrinkled her nose and looked accusing at some of the boys. If anything, she blamed THEM for sudden smells. But no. She actually didn't smell anything. She shook her head no. The professor was asking for more volunteers then, and Sophie liked to have volunteered. Toby beat her to it, though. Well, she'd just keep chanting. "hagalaz hagalaz hagalaz h h h h h h h h h hu ha hi he ho hug hag hig heg hog (hul hal hil hel hol) oh eh ih ah uh h h h h h h h h h," she chanted. If something didn't happen soon, she was seriously going to go blue in the face. |
Post 4- Group 1-3 yrs Kace raised his hand and decided he would try it out. "Professor i think i can take a stab at it..." he felt nervous being next to the whomping willow. He didn't want it to wake up anytime soon. He got his wand out of his robes and stood next to it. He felt confident and said the spell..."Intaglio Hagalaz." but he thought nothing happened. Then he noticed a smell. He smelt it too. "Yeah professor i wondered what the smell is..." He didn't really like the smell. Kace asked the professor because he was unsure. Kace felt he didn't do the spell right and did it again, "Intaglio Hagalaz..." and then nothing. He gave his wand a quizzical look. "Professor did my spell work?" he asked. The spell didn't work since the previous one worked already. |
Post 4: Team 1-3 Quote:
Oh, yeah. Tempus could do this if anyone. Never a doubt in his mind, really. |
As soon as Tempus' work was done, Botros clapped and put a hand on Lecium's shoulder to keep him from doing the spell again. "You see that smoke over there? That's the rune burning, breaking. It means this time it was successfully done." He beamed at all the kids. "Now, the series of rune has been broken into two couples of runes; Raidho and Othala. Then Reversed Raidho and Othala. They're two separate broken couple of runes, they're not a curse anymore." He made eye contact with the quiet kids to make sure they understood. |
First to Third Years - Post 8 Waiting eagerly to see what would happen after she had carved, Lux was a little disappointed when nothing happened. Oh dear. Had she done something wrong? Or was it that this curse was strong enough that it needed to be carved in extra deep? She had no idea about anything other than the fact that they were apparently supposed to be able to smell something in order to know it had been successful. Tobias was taking a stab at it now, and Lux chanted along with her other team mates as he carved the Rune into the wall again. Hopefully it would work this time and no one would get hurt by the Whomping Willow. How much longer did they have to do this anyway? As the boy stepped away from the wall, she waited eagerly to see - or smell - what would happen... Sure enough, smoke started to rise from the Rune. "It worked! We did it!" They were such an amazing team. |
1-3 team || Post #6 + question More chanting. Beverly cleared her throat, a series of choked "AHEMS" to get her voice working again. This coughing business, it wasn't pleasant. Since when had she had such poor lungs? PFFFT. Concentrating back on what was happening, she joined her classmates' chant: "Hagalaz hagalaz hagalaz...h h h h h h h h h..." ...And so it went until the wall started smoking... Quote:
YUSH. They weren't going to be trampled by the Whopping Willow after all. Noting everything professor Botros was saying, Bev eyed the wall. YOU GOING DOWN. Uhuh. Following permission to touch the it, Beverly did just that, her fingers tracing the creature carvings. When curiosity spoke again she raised her hand to get the man's attention. "Are we going to blow it up?" Make it go BOOM!? If so, she wanted in. |
Post 7 - Seventh Years Oh Alice had volunteered to carve the rune. That was nice So yes, Alice could be the first. Sander waited anxiously for her to start because he was all ready to chant the galdr for Nauthiz. Yes it was a mouthful and it did sound silly, but sometimes what seemed silly worked the best. Carry on Alice, Sander nodded an encouragement to the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain. |
Post 5 ( SIXTH YEARS ) Quote:
Though he supposed Mo had a point when he explained his reasoning for wanting to use Thurisaz. The leprechaun stood back a couple of feet, letting his classmate make his own attempt on the wall, and watched as he did it ever so easily. Then it happened. The wall had a small reaction. Tag smelt it, the smell of campfire wood crackling, and then he saw it. A small puff of smoke came out of the wall, right over the spot Mo had been working on. Tag had totally softened up the wall for Mo to do that. Cough. Cough. "You did it, Mo. Brilliant, job." Tag said giving him an encouraging smile. Now they had to continue doing this, yes? The blonde tried to rack his brain to remember if Mo had said anything else about weak spots, but couldn't come to a conclusion. "Are there any more weak spots we haven't seen, by chance?" Tag asked. He highly doubted the entire wall would break with such a small, yet, joyful, reaction. |
Post 5 SPOILER!!: Bay Alexa stood back and waited for him to do that carving thing. She was pretty confident in the rune they'd chosen after hearing the explanation the Professor had given earlier so there wasn't much apprehension as he carved. Even as he etched the rune into the wall she kept her eyes glued there. Wasn't much she could do if he missed and carved at the wrong rune but that didn't become a problem. Bay was spot on, good for him. "Oh! Hey! Look!" Lex said, pointing to the smoke as it began to rise. "I...I think we did it! The Professor said this stuff's meant to burn right off or something, yeah?" If the smoke was anything to go off of then she would say they were on the right track about now. Burning rune. Yes. The Prefect watched the smoke rise for a moment, wanting it weakened enough, in case that's how this thing worked and patience was needed or something then she took aim at the wand. "This being a simple ward, we don't have any other weak spots to look out for. You might wanna step back just in case." This was by far her favourite curse but it was vastly underused. Blow up some things on the school grounds once and suddenly you're the bad guy. Go figure. "Expulso!" And a surge of anticipation for the wall to explode and crumple. The spell hit the ward around the wall, the ward flashed and slowly faded away. Another spell to bring the wall down! |
Post 7 - Sixth Years Quote:
It felt like guessing sometimes, and one guess was as good as another. Or rather, both guesses had equal merit to Mo, even if they hadn't both worked the same way. At Tag's question, Mo pointed to the vertical and horizontal line of runes. "That second line there, the one going connecting the two vertical lines? It goes 'Tiwaz, Raidho, Sowilo,' with Raidho in the middle. That's the weak spot we have to break next." So what would the opposite rune be this time? "It literally means 'journey' or forward motion and moving in the right direction. What should we try as it's opposite?" |
Post 6 ( Sixth years ) Quote:
This time around Tag paid real close, again, to Mo's finger and followed him around. Ok. Raidho was the weak spot. Now they had to find the opposite rune of that. To hopefully break the wall some more. "How about we try Isa? It's meant to be a sort of 'stopper' on things. You know? Keeps everything still and in place, not able to move around much." Tag had a feeling this might be it. If it didn't work for him, then Mo could give it a try with his own opposite rune. So, without wait Tag went closer to the wall, hovered his wand near Raidho and said "Intaglio Isa. Intaglio Isa. Intaglio Isa. Intaglio Isa." Hopefully that was enough. An now they were supposed to wait. Thin smoke started rising from the Isa rune, and then burning stench spread in the air. |
Post 6 (Team Botros!) Adi watched as Tobias carved the Rune this time and as soon as the third year was done, it started to smoke. The smoking caught him off guard and he thought something was going to happen. Ya know...something bad. But Botros explained about the rune breaking. Oh. That's what it meant. Cool! They could touch the wall! Adi cautiously leaned forward and poked a wrinkly finger at it. Nothing happened. Awesomeee! |
Fourth and Fifth Years - Post 6 Quote:
"yeah totally….there shouldn't be any more" he was still walking away from the wall but before he could move any further away he heard her say her spell.. should he start to run.. he thought it was best to wait to see what happened before he tried to run on his bummed knee. |
Post 5 - Seventh Years! Right, so... she was carving? Supposing that the others would start chanting behind her, Alice raised her wand to just over the Ingwaz weak spot. She would just say the name of the rune, then, and let her fellow seventh years go from there with the Galdr. It took a good minute or two for her to remember the incantation, as well as the shape of Nauthiz, but it finally came to her. Sort of slanted X with little thingies on the ends of the lines? Easy peasy. "Intaglio Nauthiz Nauthiz Nauthiz Nauthiz Nauthiz..." wheeeeze, "Intaglio Nauthiz Nauthiz Nauthiz Nauthiz Nauthiz..... Intaglio Nauthiz Nauthiz Nauthiz Nauthiz Nauthiz....... Intaglio Nauthiz Nauthiz Nauthiz Nauthiz Nauthiz..." Wheeeeze. Was it working? Thin smoke started rising from the Nauthiz rune, and then burning stench spread in the air. |
Post 8 - Seventh Years Sander watched with mixed feelings as Alice began carving the rune Nauthiz next to the rune Ingwaz. Not only was he feeling anxious, he was also excited. They were attempting to break a curse cast on the wall. This was the first time he was actually doing it and he still had a hard time believing it. But before the curse could be broken, they had to break the weak spot...and Alice needed all the help she could get to empower the rune she was carving. Sander began chanting the Galdr to help her along. "naudhiz naudhiz naudhiz n n n n n n n n n nu na nu ne no nudh nadh hudh nedh niodh (nut nat nit net not) un an in en on n n n n n n n n" |
Post 5- (Grp Bostros! :3) Quote:
Now they can go touch it? Awesome! It was zap them? Aww man Kace was looking forward to it. He carefully stepped toward it and touched it. Huh? It didn't zap him. The professor was right. He looked at the professor and smiled and touched the wall and examined it. |
Post 5: Team 1-3 Quote:
Cutty stood back for a moment. He wasn't going to touch the wall until the others had done so. That way he would know that it was safe. After witnessing Wayne and Lecium help themselves he reached a hand out and appreciated the gritty yet smooth texture. He wondered if his Tita would let him wonder about in the blasted Egyptian heat all summer in a loincloth as a smile returned to his face at both that thought and Wayne's question about blowing things up. |
The space felt tighter somehow. The branches and the baby branches could not stretch out away from the bark very much, the leaves couldn't flutter and fly away scaring the pants off someone. Something was wrong. The branches hit the walls strongly rattling them, and bringing one down... Quote:

Botros was all smiles and happiness as the kids touched the wall without a scratch. This wasn't so risky afterall. He glanced at Wayne and nodded at her, "Of course now we--" Then he heard the rustling of leaves and a loud bang and then there was dust everywhere and a missing kid. |
Post 4 Seventh years and a bit of the willow moving Ella had no problem with Hulk carving and so she stepped out of the way, giving her an encouraging smile. She could do this, no problem. And since Sander had already started to chant the Galdr, Ella listened carefully to what he was saying and then repeated after him. "naudhiz naudhiz naudhiz..n n n n n n n n n..nu na nu ne no..nudh nadh hudh nedh niodh..(nut nat nit net not)..un an in en on..n n n n n n n n n!" Sniff. Sniff. It was burning. "I...is that a good thing?" Ella looked around at the others and then back at the wall, curious. At least something was happening. Maybe they should keep chanting and see? Maybe. "naudhiz naudhiz naudhiz..n n n n n n n n n..nu na nu ne no..nudh nadh hudh nedh niodh..(nut nat nit net not)..un an in en on..n n n n n n n n n!" The eighteen year old was distracted by some movement she'd seen and when she turned her head, it was then that she saw Cutty hanging by the ankle and Botros stopping any of the branches from picking up the other younger Hogwartians. Merlin, should they be worried? "I think we should work a bit faster." Just saying. Her ankle might snap if she was the one picked up like that. |
Fourth and Fifth Years - Post 7 Quote:
everyone loves chocolate.. alright so now that it was done they just needed to take down this wall.. thinking in his head of a spell they could use, Bay actually might have to run away, for what he was about to suggest. "Take down that wall!! I know we can do it!! how about you try "Bombarda Maxima?" he told her while moving away from her just incase the BOOM was a little too big. Bay started to move on his legs and move his hands in the air |
