As soon as you step through the fifth floor and head towards the classroom, you find the professor standing just outside the door cradling the top of his cane with his hands. His usual and signature relaxed smile on his face as he waits for the students to file into the room.
The classroom is the ordinary Ancient Runes classroom, it's clean, it's neat, and there are hardly anything interesting in there. The small dais, that has the professor's big desk, faces three rows of desks and a blackboard is hung up on the wall behind it. There are name tags perched up on each desk, some have names already there with updated years, and others are empty for the new students to fill.

SHe glanced at the blackboard, and nodded when she saw the instructions on the board. Easy enough. "Hello Professor," she said with a warm smile, and walked past him into the classroom.
Sander! She smiled as she saw him looking around, and couldn't help but wonder what he was looking for. She shrugged that thought off and sat at the seat right next to him, which was also right in front of Lux. She shot the younger girl a wink before turning to the boy. "Long time no see," she teased as she set up her things.
.....and there she was. Tessa.
Sander grinned up at her, "Hey yourself, definitely long time no see." he laughed....even though it has only just been lunch that they last saw each other.
"Actually I was looking for you." Sander admitted to her and smiled when she sat down next to him.
.....and then Sander saw another familiar face. The kid he had worked with in Potions.

He stood motionless until he spotted his tag. Hey look! His seat was right next to Sander. Adi made his way over. "Hi, Sander!'' he greeted as he plopped down in his seat. "What's up?''
"Hey there Adi. Is this your assigned seat? Awesome. How's it going? Me? Everything is actually going great. I've finally got a chance to skate indoors now. You should visit the Ice skating rink in the Room of Requirement." he suggested to the younger boy.

Lucas detested Ancient Runes. He was terrible at deciphering things, didn't get the little letters at all. But it was still pretty cool, how the little stones had all these crazy meanings and they could show the future and stuff. He wasn't sure if he really believed it, but it was one of the more interesting subjects just because it was so intelligible.
He gave the blackboard a nervous glance and then moved towards his old seat in the middle left of the classroom. Lucas eyed the desks around him. Maybe somebody he actually knew would sit next to him this year.

This was a new class for Ben.
Ancient runes, both subject and lesson had seemed rather over his head when he had first thought of it so he had opted not to attend the optional classes. However this term the second thought perhaps he would give it a try at least once. Approaching the fifth floor classroom, Benjamin spotted the professor waiting outside of the corrisponding door for them. "Good day, Professor," he greeted with a polite nod as he came up to him, heading inside with the rest of his would-be classmates.
He looked aroound the classroom and the desks both assigned and free, finally heading towards an empty place near the middle. Obeying the directions on the blackboard, Ben scribbled down his name upon the tag before taping it with his wand and watching it work its magic.
Bri walked into the Ancient Runes classroom, she was quite curious about this class, the little she knew about it. She smiled at the professor. "Good Morning, professor. How are you? My name is Bri Granger." The young brunette said softly, before going further in to the classroom. She glanced around at the other students that were already there. She smiled at them, recognizing more and more of them every time. She glanced at the chalkboard. ' Name tags?.... Intersting' she thought to herself, before heading towards an empty seat. When the 1st year arrived at a desk she pulled out her quill and wrote on the blank name tag:
Text Cut: Name Tag
Bri Granger
1st Year
.
When she was done she pullled out her wand and tap the name tag. When that was all done with, she sat down at the desk, and pulled out her Ancient Runes textbook and her notebook, before placing her bag down

Huxley strolled in, glancing momentarily at the Runes Master. She should say a good morning or something right? But she was in a mood, the kind that compels lips to stay shut and eyes to stray elsewhere, and so she found a desk and slipped into it lazily. Did this have her name on it? She didnt bother to check. Chin resting against her hand, the brunette turns her blank gaze onto the shiny speck on the man's forhead.

So, Ancient Runes. One of the subjects Leah was afraid of most. The girl could see the warm looking Professor from a great distance in the corridor and relaxed a bit. "Hello, Professor. My name's Leah Abbott and I'm a first year."
With that, Leah walked into the classroom cautiously and was caught by surprise. She had expected ancient runes decorations all around the room, but it looked normal, like a normal classroom. There were name tags on most of the desks, so probably they couldn't change seats all year. Leah walked around the room, carefully choosing a seat.
The girl finally chose a desk next to Bri, one of her dorm mates. She noticed that Bri aced in nearly all subjects, so maybe she could get help frequently from her. Glancing up at the board for the first time, Leah noticed the instructions written. Name tags.

Oh good. It looked like Caleb would finally get to relax during a lesson for a change. He loved the interactive ones where they had to do spells and interact with animals and go FLYING like in Astronomy last year, but it was nice every once in a while to take a break and just sit and do something boring. Like notes. It was calming and made him feel like he was refocusing himself.
Smiling at the professor as he walked in, he took a seat near the middle and pulled out his name tag from last year. Good thing he'd saved it! He'd had an odd feeling that it would come in handy.
With that, he slowly and sneakily tried to pull a tiny compact mirror out of his bag to examine his nose. The healer had fixed him up and everything, but he thought he could still see a hint of bruising on his nose. Just a bit. Or maybe he was imagining it.

Christmas entered the Ancient Runes classroom not her favourite subject but she had to learn as much as she could upon seeing the professor she smiled and said "Good day Professor Botros" and there was a free desk and she put her name tag on it glad that she had saved it from last year and she got out her book, quill and parchment ready to take notes
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Luckily, the walk to the fifth floor from the Gryffindor Common Room was not that far and as the first year walked through the hallway, his bag hoisted over his right shoulder he could not help but smile a little. He didn't know why but he was in a good mood at the moment. Following the other students, Kevin found the class room door and a rather old person standing near it. The professor obviously. He stared, not entering the room just yet. The man was OLD like ANCIENT..was that why he teached ANCIENT runes? huh? huuuh?
Kevin kept looking, even his grandfather didn't look that old and he wondered how old the man was. "How old are you?" he asked, his rude manners coming back again. But then remembered he had already been send to his Head of House once together with the Potions Professor and he did not want to go there again. Atleast not now so he simply added a "Oh! i'm sorry sir, i did not mean that!" though if one would actually listen to the sound of his voice they would know that he wasn't sorry at all. But he tried!
Faking a smile, the Gryffindor entered the classroom and found a seat. Took out his writing material and books before writing his name down.
Brynn was rather curious about Ancient Runes mostly because she didn't know much about what it was other than the word ancient meant really old and that they were stones with magical carvings on them. Sounded kind of neat so she signed up for the class. As she made her way to the classroom, she saw a really old guy outside the door. It made total sense to the girl that he was the teacher of this class. "Hello," she said quietly, giving him a shy smile before slipping inside the room.
Oh. Quite a few people in here already. The redhead looked around for an empty seat, soon finding one by the door. But as she went to sit down, she noticed someone else's name on the desk. Well, obviously she couldn't sit there, but she hadn't realized there were assigned seats. Was there one with her name on it?
The eleven year old slowly weaved her way through the maze of desks seeing this name or that one or no name at all, but not her name. Maybe she could sit in one of the no-name desks? A quick happenstance glance at the board showed her there were start of class instructions. Oh. She was meant to sit at a no-name desk. Brynn quickly located the nearest unassigned desk and took her seat. Obediently she wrote her name and year on the provided blank name tag, wondering if it would work to change if she did tap it with her wand. Only one way to find out. The first year pulled her wand and tapped it, grinning a little when it magically changed.

Adi had just shut his mouth after greeting Sander when the nice girl from Transfiguration turned up. "Oh, hello, Tessa!'' He grinned. "Be prepared to help me if I should need help.'' He winked, thinking she'd make a pretty good Professor.
He turned back to Sander as the guy was also talking to him. "Yep, it is. Gonna be sitting here all my Hogwarts life.'' Not that he minded. He liked his seat. Ah yes. The Ice skating thingy Adi had heard about. ''Maybe I will,'' he said as he watched more students file in to the class including his new friend Benny to whom he waved. "Um I haven't got the faintest knowledge of skating,'' he added.
Adi watched another kid (Lucas) his age sit not far from them. Had he seen this one before? Adi not sure but the kid looked nervous. Why? He waved at the kid and gave him a no need to be nervous smile.
"Good morning Professor," Ana said, voice subdued as she walked into the Ancient Runes classroom. If she had a choice she likely wouldn't have even walked in the door. Anastasia detested Ancient Runes, mostly because she just couldn't seem to ever wrap her head around it and therefore got frustrated. Especially when Sasha had tried to teach her in the holidays. He was soo good at it, understood the concepts so easily and made the transfer into the practical parts of the subject seem effortless. But she needed to get an education and so she'd continue to try. At least until the end of this year.
Taking a seat at an empty desk Anastasia pulled out her textbook and writing implements before writing her name tag. Merlin she felt like she was in first year again, which didn't go far with improving her mood.
SPOILER!!: Name Tag
Anastasia Konstantinova,
5th Year
Unholstering her wand she tapped the name tag to make it larger, and therefore easier for the teacher to read before settling back in her seat and getting ready for hell. If she was lucky on of her new friends would excel in Ancient Runes and be willing to help her out with class work and homework assignments. If not then she'd be doomed.
Robin walked into the class, excited for what she would learn, she had no idea what the subject was even about except, well, ancient runes. She read the board and made her desk tag. Seeing the boy named Lucas who looked less than happy to be where he was she quickly sat down in one of the seats next to him, not wanting to sit by herself like her other classes. She smiled. "Hey, any advice on the class?"

Ancient Runes, Hannah strongly disliked this class because it was so confusing to her. Still to this day she wasn't sure how she managed to make it this far. Upon walking in she spotted the professor. "Hello professor." Once she said her hellos, her eyes slid over the board and she noticed that she had to sit at the same seat that she did last term. What if she didn't like that seat anymore? So much could change in a year you know.
Honestly, she didn't even remember who it was she sat by. The seventh year scanned the room and found her desk. She quietly made herself at home and waited for the lesson to begin.
Laura couldn't wait to start this lesson, she almost ran to the classroom it had been ages since she had seen the old man. "Morning Professor, how are you today? Did you have a good summer? What you teaching us today?" Laura had a few more questions but she thought that three would be enough for now, she didn't want to confuse the Professor.
Delilah stood outside the classroom, feeling extremely nervous. Ancient Runes was the one subject she knew she was going to be terrible at. And she was going to have to work really hard on it this year especially since she had to write her OWL's. She was already starting to worry about it. Oh, goodness.
"Hello, professor." She gave him a small smile before making her way towards one of the desks near the front of the class. Sitting down, she placed her bag on the floor before proceeding to write her name and year on the tag before tapping on it with her wand. There. Desk name tag.

"Hey Bay!" Tessa called to the boy as he entered the class. As he settled down, she wasn't sure if he had heard her or not, so she reached over and knocked on his desk. "Greetings, fellow lion," she teased, grinning at him.

Tessa smiled at Adi. "I will be prepared and ready... this isn't my best subject, so, I'll be as ready as I can be," she amended with a wink. Transfiguration was her best, she would have to see how she fared in this class. Sometimes, it just depended on the teacher.
As she heard Sander and Adi talking about skating, she nodded. "It's alright Adi, I have no idea how to skate either! But Sander is a really good teacher and he helped keep me on my feet," she said, shooting a grin to the older boy.

Sighing inwardly, Lux gave Tessa a weak smile. She was being silly, she supposed since Sander was so nice and she did like him. She just had wanted to sit beside Tessa and Bay was all.
Speaking of Bay... Seeing her friend come in and sit down, she waved for him excitedly. "Hey there, Bay." Now both him and Tessa were there and she was happy.
And then of course Cutty had to rear his decidedly unwholesome head. He wore a calm expression as he entered and noted the atmosphere of the classroom. This Botros fellow, he had control of his students. No one was acting out or even so much as shouting or talking too loudly. And, although Cutty had been quite charmed with the Runes Professor, he did not realize this as the source of this cooperative behaviour on the behalf of the class. It was incredible and Cutty was mesmerized by the sheer power of it.
He assessed that there must have been assigned seating, as there were names on some desks but without some students in them yet. He searched for one without a name and in his luck, found it next to Tobias. He filled out a sheet of parchment after reading the instructions for the class, folded it in the middle and stiffened it with a charm that he'd learned for his business cards.

Sander wondered why Tessa didn't seem to believe him when he said he had been looking out for her. But he decided not to pursue that question. He was just glad that he was still sitting next to her and that was enough.
"Am I ready? I think I am. I mean this is Ancient Runes, created by the Norse God, Odin. I'm Norwegian, so technically these are the alphabets of my mythical ancestors...supposedly." Sander whispered to her.
Then he leaned over so that no one else could hear him. "Honestly, I'll be lucky if I get my answers right. I'm such a bad descendant."
Oichi made her way to the ancient runes classroom excited to see what
could be in store for this lesson. Previous lessons had things like a jungle in the
classroom. What cool stuff could be in store for today? She reached the door and
opened it and saw, nothing, just a normal classroom. Her heart sank into her
chest. She walked foward like she had just seen the Bloody Baron for the first time.
She then saw the writing on the board that told her to find her seat. She slowly started to look and in time found her place. She settled in her seat and hoped this drab classroom was
not a sign of what the lesson may be like.

Hmmm. Astrid didn't really know what she felt about Ancient Runes. In her former school, she didn't really enjoy it because she found it boring and writing in runes was really impossible. She even wondered why she hadn't failed in her exams last year because she honestly didn't know what she was doing. Huh. Probably just luck by her side? She didn't know.
Oh look. The professor was outside. Heh. Astrid smiled at him. "Hello, Professor." Well, she had to introduce herself but that little bit will be reserved for later. She entered the classroom and took a seat. Name tags. It said there on the board. Right. Astrid wrote her name on the name tag and tapped it with her wand.
OOOOOOH THERE IT WAS. Hehe. Time to wait for the class to begin then?

Tap with her wand, and it was there. Pretty cool.
Bri was passing time before class start by writing a letter to her family. She sighed softly, she may behaving a great time at Hogwarts, but she was starting to feel a bit homesick
The young brunette glanced over when she realized that someone sat next to her. She smiled when she saw that it was Leah. "Hi Leah! How are you?" Bri asked happily, putting down her quill, she can finish the letter later.
Robin walked into the class, excited for what she would learn, she had no idea what the subject was even about except, well, ancient runes. She read the board and made her desk tag. Lucas looked up from his desk to see the girl from the common room the other day and made a face of confusion. Her name was... Rachel? Oh man.. he had the worst memory for names. Faces he was good with but names was just awful. But luckily for him, she was holding a place card with her name on it and he smiled. "Robin. Hi. From the common room? Hi." And then snapped his mouth shut in case he start stuttering.
He sighed a teensy breath of relief when she sat down next to him. She seemed nice. She seemed cool. He knew her. It was shaping up to be better than expected. Her question put him out a little and he frowned. Should he know something about this class? But regretfully, "It's a lot of weird letters that mean stuff."
Well.
Hmm.

Just beside Robin, a wave caught Lucas' attention and his eyes snapped up to meet the age-same boy who gave him a welcoming smile.
Why was everyone else here so much more comfortable than HE was?
"Oh, huh, thanks man," Lucas replied, looking to Robin and then the boy. He realised after a beat that maybe, in his recent endeavour to be more sociable that something more was required to facilitate conversation. But, errr.. what?
"I'm Lucas.. this is Robin and do you like this class?" Oh, man. That was so weird. Quick backtrack. But nothing was coming to the kid. So he slapped on a small smile and shrugged. Could've been waaay worse.
