As soon as you step through the fifth floor and head towards the classroom, you find the professor standing just outside the door cradling the top of his cane with his hands. His usual and signature relaxed smile on his face as he waits for the students to file into the room.
The classroom is the ordinary Ancient Runes classroom, it's clean, it's neat, and there are hardly anything interesting in there. The small dais, that has the professor's big desk, faces three rows of desks and a blackboard is hung up on the wall behind it. There are name tags perched up on each desk, some have names already there with updated years, and others are empty for the new students to fill.

Listening to the Professor explain the alphabet was seriously making Lux's head hurt because she did not get the concept of it at all. From what she could understand, things were written out by the way they sounded, but she was not really sure she understood the rules totally regardless.
Sighing, she quickly jotted down the last bit of notes she needed into her notebook and then set to the task of spelling out her name with no idea if she was doing it correctly.
When she was done, it looked like this:

Merlin, they were going to write in Runes? Astrid tried not to panic. She wasn't good at this. GULP. Help. Someone help her, please? Taking her quill and inkwell slowly so that the time passed by, Astrid looked at everyone else. HUH? How did they get those right? Darn. She should've paid attention to the Ancient Runes class she took at Beauxbatons. She didn't know it'd be this helpful. SIGHS.
Okay so... she tried to be calm. Parchment. Yes. Phonetic form of her name. But... it was still the same? Astrid Samantha Emerson. She had no double letters and... yeah, she could do this. Okay. She took a deep breath and began to write.
SPOILER!!: Parchment

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Grabbing a piece of parchment and writing material, Kevin unscrolled the paper until it lay flat on his table and with his ink bottle he held it down. Dipping the quill in the ink, he looked at the blackboard and began to figure out how his name was written in runes like the Gryffindor had asked.
he then continued with drawing the stick figures that fitted with his name and placed his quill down when he was done. He looked at his piece of parchment and scratched the bag of his head, wondering if it was right what he had done and his miss-matched left hazel and right dark brown eyes searched for the Professor. If he wasn't right he wasn't going to do it again!
Oh, she could? Alright, then. But no middle name of hers was going up in front of the whole class, on account of that girly thing was nobody's business.
"Um, so... my name is Alice Fischer. If you write that out in phonetic form, it's A-L-I-S F-I-S-H-R." Her fingers scratched the letters out in her messy scrawl as she spoke them aloud. "If I'm translating the phonetic form of my name into runes, it'd be Ansuz for the A..." Scribble."....... Laguz for the L, Isa for the I.... er.. and Sowilo for the S." Adding a dot next to the last rune she'd written, the lioness moved on to her last name.
F. F. Merlin, what was the rune for F? She had to glance at Botros' notes again. "Fehu next, then Isa again... then Sowilo, Hagalaz for the H, and a Raidho." Yep. Ride ho. It went up there at the end of all the others.
Once she'd finished, Alice stepped back and surveyed the blackboard, each rune written under the corresponding letter as neatly as she could manage. The writing was a bit smudged, as she was left handed and all, but overall... okay? Looking for approval here, professor.
Botros watched the Captain write her name on the board, nodding along. Until she reached the SH part. He scratched his bald scalp, thinking, but didn't comment on it. It could be written as SH and it could even go as G. He scratched once again. "Well done, dear." He clapped lightly.

For West Scanlan Odessa... with the c in his middle name sounding like a K, and the double S in his last name cut down to a single Sowilo. He smiled up at her.
Botros stepped down the dais and started walking between the desks, trying to correct what the students were working on. "Good job." He nodded at Odessa's work.

A bit weird looking, but it would do. So that made her name read Ansuz-Hagalaz-Dagaz-Raidho-Eihwaz-Ehwaz-Hagalaz-Nauthiz. She took a moment to write it out on her parchment neatly, then sat back and looked around to see if everyone else's looked as good as hers did.
He stopped briefly at the next girl's desk, tilting his head to the side and spelling out her name. "Adrien? Good job, you too." She got it right.

Daww, Botros grinned and bent a little to look at the parchment. "Very good, yes." It depended on how you said Beverly, anyway. He wasn't going to fuss about it this time.

Tobias' face LIT UP at that question and all the concentration he'd been starting to lose suddenly came back at full pelt. Transcribing into Elder Futhark was his favourite thing, and he immediatly grabbed a spare piece of parchment.
First and last name, yes? No need for anybody to hear his middle name today.
The Hufflepuff drew the runes out as neatly and as accurately as he could, and then printed the names underneath each runes in small letters, just for the sake of being thorough. For his first name, he carefully wrote out the runes Tiewaz, Othala, Berkana, Eihwaz, Ansuz and Sowilo in that order. After a dot, Tiewaz, Ehwaz, Mannaz, Perthro, Uruz and Sowilo all came next to spell out 'Tempus', and then he was done.
Toby blew on the ink to dry it as, as his answer, he held the parchment up in front of him so that the Professor and the Gryffindor captain might see that the answer was yes.
Yes he could.
Oh he didn't have to check this one's work. The boy wrote an entire letter to him, for Merlin's sake. Botros smiled widely at him and gave two thumps-up, because they were cool like that.

... And... did Botros mind checking his work?
"Yes, of course. That's when you want the word to be accurate." Botros moved closer to where the Head Boy say and leaned forward to see his work. "Yes, that is correct. Though I'd go for..." He scribbled Blaik next to Blayk. "Those tiny details differ from person to person, from country to country. Great job." patpatpat.

Writing them down he came up with:
Text Cut: Sander spelt in Runic Alphabet
Then next was his last name, Strand. Sowilo was for the letter S, Tiwaz for T, Raidho for R, Ansuz for A, Nauthiz for N and Dagaz for D. Writing out his name is Runic alphabets he came up with nifty piece of art .

It was a good thing she knew how to write M's, because there were three of those in her name. Well, really those were the E's, but since they looked like M's, Sophie had M's in her name when she wrote it in runes. Then there was the W. Why did it look like a P?
Ancient Runes... It was already confusing enough without having to go and change up all the letters.
Finally, she finished. Her work was all nice and greenish-blue. She signed her name on the bottom then put down her quill.
Botros scratched his chin and examined the little girl's parchment before grabbing her quill and making some corrections, "There is no p and h in runes that produce the sound of f. So we replace them with an F. Fehu."
SPOILER!!: Parchment
Phonetics:
Sophie = S O F I
Newell = N E W L
"Then you replace each letter with the suitable rune." Botros put down her quill and offered her a smile, "Do not worry, this needs a separate class. You did well on your first attempt."
ooc: Newell depends on how you say it, I personally pronounce it as /Newl/.

Rewritting it beneath his previous work, he found it to be a little more troublesome as it needed to be broken down phonetically. A task itself that was...interesting. Finally he was satisfied with what he had come up with and worked on picking out the runes that fit each part. And then there was the actual drawing of the rune.
"Perfect. Good job, son." Botros offered the boy a smile and continued on.

Marco Branxton, since that's what the professor thought he was called.
Mo checked the work several times, although he wasn't thrilled with the vowel sounds, before pushing it out onto his desk to show Botros. If he wanted to see it.

This was possibly the easiest of all the questions, in fact it wasn't even a question, just her writing on her parchment. Easily done. They'd written in runes just ther term before if she was remembering correctly...or was it last term....it was in the past, that much she knew.
The girl grabbed her quill and got scribbling.
Botros passed by the Prefect and nodded at her job. "Good job, Alexa." First name basis and all that. He patted her shoulder and moved on.

~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Professors were into hair ruffles too? Adi only ever got that from Wade and Alec. And his father's father. Could he call Botros granddad instead of Professor? He wondered. Hmmmm. Anyway, he had spelt his rune name correctly and all too soon the class was over. Why, why, why? This had been a fun lesson. Wishing it could have gone on a bit longer, Adi stuffed his quill and book in his bag.
"Bye, professor!'' the second year called. "Great lesson!'' He waved and disappeared out the door.
Tobias BEAMED and returned the professor's double-thumbs-up with one of his own. Then, once the man had gone through and checked everyone's parchment, the Hufflepuff looked up at him again. More runic writing? Maybe?
... No. Lesson over.
Toby was at first disappointed, but then relieved as he remembered his waning concentration. The boy nodded once to himself and packed up all of his things, making sure the ink on his notes was completely dry first.
When all of his school things were loaded back into his bag once more, Tobias gave the Ancient Runes professor a salute and said, "Thanks for the lesson Professor, and apprentice Professors, too." That part was directed at the students who'd asked questions, see? "Have a nice day."
That part was directed at Professor Botros, but also applied to everyone.
With that, Tobias smiled again before turning and leaving the room.

Oh, so class was over and she had done good with spelling her name out in Runes. Lux beamed and then started putting her stuff away. This class had been rather confusing, so she knew that she would be needing her textbook and help in order to do the upcoming homework. Figuring that she would deal with it when it came up, she placed her stuff in her bag and got ready to leave. "Bye, Professor. Thanks for the lesson and have a nice day," she said as she walked out of the room. For now she was hungry, so it was off to the kitchens to get something to eat from the Elves.

Class was over? Sander had to admit it was interesting and the questions asked were challenging enough that he had to dig into rusty brain cells to remember what he had learned back in Durmstrang. Quickly writing down his last notes into his journal, Sander packed up his things before walking to where the Professor stood.
"Thank you for an interesting lesson, Professor. I look forward to your next one," Sander smiled and nodded at Professor Botros before heading out the classroom.
Botros grabbed the boy's parchment and made some edits.

Kace realized his mistake and he nodded and smiled toward the professor. "Thanks Mr. Bostros!" he said editing his parchment when he did the corrections. Then he realized the class was over? Aww man it was so much fun. He rolled up his parchment and put it into his backpack.
The homework was gonna be posted so he didn't have to worry about copying it down. Once he packed all his supplies he walked up to the professor and said, "Thanks for the lesson professor. I really enjoyed it."
Then he was off and went back to the common room to relax and prepare for the next class.
Hazel had enjoyed that lesson. She waited excitedly for the next set of instructions, but then she realized class was over. "Thanks Professor! I really enjoyed your class!" she said, walking out of the room. Ancient Runes was going to be a class to be excited about.

Mmk!
The Gryffindor hopped out of her seat and began shuffling her things into her bag. "Thanks for the lesson Professor." She said with a polite nod. No explosions but she hadn't died so....ALL GOOD.
