Another barn sits beside the Creature Nursery. This, instead of being filled with small animals, contains two rows of stables. The stables contain two of each Winged Horse known to wizardkind, one male and one female.
At the back of the stable are a set of double doors. They lead to a fenced in pasture for riding.
Like the nursery, beside the door are the necessary items to care for the horses. Only in here, saddles are included. Please, do not ride without Professor Roman present to supervise! However, with permission, you may pet and feed the horses at your will.
OOC: To ride a horse, you must have either RPed getting permission from Professor Roman or otherwise arranged that permission was given via PM or VM. Otherwise, I will assume that you are knowingly breaking the IC rules. RPing that you have permission without communication about it is not acceptable and I will assume you are without permission. If you have permission, you don't have to wait for Professor Roman to be posted, and can assume she's present. I may just RP with you, though.
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
Pick something from a creature of your choosing? Judging by what the Professor had said, she got the feeling they might end up like these creatures so she had to think carefully. Where as she would have LOVED being a kneazle, if only for a little, she had to consider the consequences. Felix...wouldn't have been happy...with her plucking his fur. The kneazle was very particular about keeping that stuff on himself. Go figure.
This left her no choice but to head down to the stables. It was all real legit. There was no way she was plucking anything from a duck, she didn't fancy plucking things from the nursery because...you know and she didn't think she could ask Mr. Giant Squid for some of whatever it was squids had. Plus, if she couldn't be a kneazle then she at least wanted to be able to fly without being a stupid bird. Chances were this thing would be homework. Turning into a bird with Felix present was a no. He'd know better than to try eating her but that wouldn't stop him from rough housing.
Lex walked over to the stall housing the Abraxans. Had to be smart about this. Didn't need an uproar. In her hand she had a brush because she was going to make nice before she tried anything with a horse powerful enough to crush her in one move. The Fourth Year simply wanted hair...she had a potions class to get back to.
"Hi..." Careful steps. Professor Roman probably wouldn't have been all that thrilled to know she wasn't in here to care the horses but instead to get some hair. No need to draw attention to herself. Shhhhhhh horsie.
"Just here to get some hair." Would it understand? Maybe. In any case it lowered its head allowing her to brush it's mane. Brush. Just brush for now. Had to make this look as legit as possible. Lex switched the brush to her left hand and kept at it as she fished out her wand from it's holster.
Steaaaady....
Slowly the brushing came to a stop. She took a lock of the mane, not too much but enough. "Diffindo!" At the casting of the spell the horse reared up on it's hind legs. Yeah....this was her cue to go.
BAAIIIII.

Well, since Wade had the perfect excuse permission from Professor Lafay to go wandering out on the Castle grounds... to the Creatures' Sanctuary at the stables, of course. He was going to see his favorite creatures again. Even though it would be for a short while, just to get a feather from it. He was feeling ecstatic coming this close to them as he entered in.
Now where.. ah.. there you are. He had studied quite a bit on the Hippogriffs, and even won a chance to ride one during the auction in his fifth year. Well.. here's his chance to at least pet one, riding it could happen another day if it so desired.
He whistled lowly at one nearby.. It was so beautiful to him. Okay, now its attention was on Wade. Better put those nightly readings to good use.
First, Wade made sure to keep eye contact with the Hippogriff. Now he slowly bent his upper torso into a low bow while keeping his head up at it and not blinking. He wanted to smile, but knew smiling often gave the urge to blink more than frowning ever did, so he kept a calm exterior. Would it bow back now?
The hippogriff seemed to look at him curiously while he was bent down... before it finally did the same. Phew. It was like it just rained in Wade's eyes once he was safe to approach it. "There.. there.." He coaxed, stroking the hippogriff near it's head. It looked back quite pleased with what Wade was doing.
"It looks like you deserve a name.." It blinked at him, still looking approving of him. Wade could only smile back, though sadly at what he needed to do. "I'm afraid that I need something from you.. though it might hurt taking it.. would that be okay, Teds?".. Okay, Teds the Hippogriff it was. Teds' eyes did remain hard for a moment at Wade, though softened seeing as Wade refused to blink back.
"I'll only need one feather here." He continued petting Teds, who after a little staring contest, finally nodded. So with that, Wade took a feather and quickly plucked it out.. Hm. Teds didn't even flinch at it. "Thanks Teds.. " He gave it a few pats. "I'll.. be sure to come see you again." Smiling as warm as he felt grateful to the lovely creature, before head off and closing the entrance to the stables behind him.
Oichi reached the Care of Magical creatures area from the dungeons and thought for a moment about what animal she would like to turn into for an hour. Then she saw the majestic winged horses from a distance and headed right for those stables. She walked in and opened the first stable door. Her heart started to race as she saw the beautiful majestic being before her eyes. She approached the creature carefully and plucked a few small hairs. The abraxan then expressed some slight displeasure and cooed softly and started to move a bit. Oichi was taken aback and started to pet the abraxan and it calmed down. She then put the hairs in a baggy and headed back toward the dungeons. Oh, this is gonna be so cool, whats cooler then flying and being a horse!!!
Bronislava walked slowly through the school grounds, her steps intent on a specific location. She had been here long enough that she no longer felt the need to explore, but the 18 year old wanted to go somewhere that she hadn't the opportunity to really check out. And she decided that it was about time that she get there with very little time left.
Of the four, she felt one was her weakest point, speaking in relative terms, which didn't necessarily mean that she was unskilled, just that she needed to be as confident as she appeared. And there were several ways to go about that, the Durmstrang girl felt. Her first stop was the Winged Horse Stables and she veered in that direction as she caught sight of the building.
Once inside, she walked through, her eyes landing on each pair in their stalls until she came to the breed she was looking for. Brown eyes fell over the sleek black body, drifting over the leathery wings until they locked onto the animal's white eyes. Magnificent creature, really, and the girl stepped closer, holding her hand out palm up in a friendly gesture.

She was having one of her moments.. That moment were walls felt like they were closing in around her and the girl needed out of that castle. So she left and she kept walking until she figured out a place that maybe she could hide for awhile. The animals wouldn't look at her funny nor would they ask her questions, perfect place to hide. Plus she hadn't really fed them at all this term and that was just wrong. She liked visiting the animals. Had some great and interesting memories when she did.
Mind drifting to previous terms her mom's ring being taken, trying to save a baby dragon from Lafay with Oakey, was interesting even the word for her memories that involved Hogwarts animals. As she walked into the stable she noticed someone there. Sighing and frowning it was not what she wanted to see. She wanted to be alone. Why was there no where to do that here. She was about to turn when she noticed who the person was.
"Beautiful aren't they?" She said quietly not to freak her out or get it harmed by the creature. Walking more towards the other side not to interrupt whatever Broni was doing she just watched with careful eyes. She wasn't sure why, but it seemed Broni was the only normal one of the bunch from Durmstrang. So she didn't mind her company for now. Turning her head she looked on to another stable to check and see if they had been fed yet.

A faint smile appeared on Bronislava's lips as she felt the hot breath of the thestral on her hand as he sniffed her, then as he moved his head back, she saw it as a signal that it was acceptable to proceed. She reached her hand up to stroke the side of his head, then ran her fingers through his black mane. A certain thought became prevalent in her mind and she started to turn to assess the situation, a voice behind her causing her to turn around more fully.
"Oh. Minerva, hello," the girl said, initially startled to find someone there, though the familiarity allowed for a small smile. She had been meaning to talk to her again for some time and this chance meeting seemed quite fortunate. Beautiful..? They were, but.. Bronislava looked back to the winged horse before looking at the prefect. "Are you able to see zhe thestrals?" Or maybe she meant all the winged horses in the stable in general as the blonde was over at another stall. "Zhey're all magnificent, really." She let her eyes wander to the Abraxans for a moment, contemplating something.

Minerva leaned against the stable trying to decide if she wanted to lift the feed or not as she watched Broni feeling a bit jealous that she actually had just pet the Thestral. "Hi Broni" she said after the girl said her name. "I hope I didn't startle you. I didn't realize anyone was here. Thought I'd be here alone actually." That probably wasn't something she should have said, she didn't need the questioning of why at the moment. She wasn't explaining any of it to a stranger that was for sure, she hated explaining it to people she knew let alone anyone else.
Feeling something at her shoulder she reached up petting the Abraxan before looking up, "You want fed don't you... " she sighed and looked back at the feed. "What if I said I'm to tired to bring it to you." Feeling the nudge at her she chuckled and moved towards the feed. As she did her blue eyes lifted towards Broni, "No actually I can't, but I've seen pictures and paintings. I would love to see them, but don't want to go through seeing death." That's when she stopped and turned, "I'm sorry.. if you can that means..." She hoped it wasn't to horrible whatever she had seen to be able to see them.
Levitating the feed over towards the Abraxan she reached in to feed it. So she didn't really have to lift and use to much energy to feed the animal, but she was still tired and it took energy. She decided it was worth it as she watched it start eating. "Yes they all really are. After seven years you'd think I wouldn't be so amazed by them." She turned again to check other stables. "Animal lover or just wing horses?"

Bronislava lifted her eyes from the Abraxans, giving Minerva her attention as she spoke. Watching her carefully, she shrugged lightly at the girl's words. "Not really, vas just a bit lost in thought." She hadn't expected anyone else to be around either to be honest, but something about the prefect's words or maybe it was the tone caused her to take notice. "Oh, vould you rather be alone?" she asked tentatively, not really making a move towards the door. Just asking for now.
It didn't seem like the other girl cared all that much though, Bronislava thought as she watched Minerva feed the horses, vaguely impressed with her using magic. She glanced back at the thestral as it was referenced, shaking her head slightly. "No, you vouldn't vant to. It's.. a mixed blessing of sorts, I suppose." She turned back to the other girl, offering a tight smile. "It is fine. It vas long time ago." It did make caring for them easier to be to see them and what was done, was done. There was no changing the past.
She got the idea to feed the thestrals too, but knowing they were carnivorous, wasn't sure if what he would want would be found in the stables. Was there fresh carrion here? The Durmstrang girl wandered over to the supply bins and searched around for a moment, not really finding anything appropriate. Shrugging to herself, she wasn't all that eager to go out and get the meat herself so she just stood back by the stall, watching Minerva feed the Abraxan. Seven years.. so she had only been introduced to them when she first came to school? Interesting. "I enjoy most animals, I suppose. But zhe winged horses are most magnificent of all." She looked back at the thestral again. Would she be able to ride it, maybe?

Minerva had finished feeding the Abraxan and felt like it had used all her energy even if she really didn’t do the lifting. So she leaned against the stall and just pet the creature while listening to Broni. “I can understand that. My thoughts are my worst enemy at times. I find myself more and more in them.” Lately she had been struggling to stay out of her own head. Focus was not her friend anymore. She shook her head, honestly she didn’t know what she wanted, alone she just thought to much, with people she felt she had to be on guard, but Broni seemed different. She didn’t know her personal things, but she wasn’t one of the students Min was suspicious of doing things. “No. .you’re fine. Actually if I had to pick company you wouldn’t be marked off that list like some of your friends.” She tried to chuckle and seem like she was joking, but it was forced.
She shrugged, “I might have come close to it a few times a few terms ago. We had a plant that was eating animals and a few professors. Thankfully I didn’t have to witness the eating part, though watching the wombat and the professor being drug away wasn’t the best sight either.” She frowned as those memories came back to haunt her. She also thought about the dementors last term, but that was another horror story she wasn’t about to bring up. “I think I’ll stick with knowing they are there without seeing them.” Even though that freaked her out a bit, but it was what it was. She gave the girl a sad smile. The curiosity in her wanting to know what she had seen, but her manners telling her to keep quiet. “Well I’m sorry just the same, especially if it was a long time ago, because you were probably to young to need to witness that.” Death was hard at any age, but young was just worse in her book.
Min continued to pet the Abraxan closest to her as she went off in thought about Ethan’s and about competition things. Forcing her mind back to present she glanced back at Broni, “Can I help you find anything?” She seemed to be looking for something specific but not finding it. She glanced around, “They are beautiful. I do enjoy being near them. All animals really, they fascinate me. I love to see the difference between the ones here and the ones in the muggle world. It amazes me how many creatures I never knew about.” She wondered if the girl would be bothered by her muggle upbringing she had known firsthand how some purebloods felt, not that she knew if Broni was a pureblood or not. She sighed thinking about the blood status stuff. That was something that would always bother her, but not any issue she had to deal with anymore.
