Ira Banner wasn't exactly PLEASED to be here. He was alright with the WAND part of it all, but the CHILDREN part? Circe save him. He KNEW Bryce thought it was hilarious too, he bloody knew that his boss was probably having a right old chortle about it. It was good publicity for his upcoming book and everything, but Ira wasn't writing for PEOPLE, he was writing for WANDS.
This classroom set up wasn't ideal either, but never mind, they’d not be stuck in here for too long because there was a field trip in order. Pre-approved, and Ollivanders-sponsored. Bryce was clearly just SO generous and it hadn't a thing to do with casually putting Ira into what was probably the LEAST COMFORTABLE SITUATION HE COULD POSSIBLY BE IN JUST FOR FOR KICKS. Oh no. Couldn’t be that. He'd have to talk to children who thought they knew him. Merlin.
Just breathe, Banner.
He set up the room as sparsely and uncomfortably as possible. There were chairs and desks. Not an ounce of personality or comfort or warmth. A long chalkboard at the front of the room, which had writing on it because Ira had no intention of saying anything to any of these kids until he absolutely had to. If they could follow instructions, that wouldn't be a problem.

Ohh! Adventure time! Adi was quite excited to get started but stuff needed to be done first. First, he scribbled as much notes as he could on what Mr. Banner was talking about. Bowtruckles, Wiggentrees etc. These notes were sure to come in handy.
Next, he needed a partner. The Head Girl was already calling out her wand's description in hope of finding a partner but her's did not match his. Ah well. "Does anyone's wand match at least one characteristic of mind? It's 10 2/3 inch Hazel with Hippogriff feather core.'' Any takers?

Kelpie (Bulrushes)
Kelpies are water demons that take the form of a horse

A Kelpie can be rendered docile and harmless if a placement charm is used to put a bridle on its head

Kelpie Bulrushes are well-suited for transfiguration magic; particularly transformation spells, and it makes an excellent core for those with metamorphamagus or animagus abilities. It has an affinity for water magic, and has never been known to bond to individuals who cannot swim. Those with an affinity with magical creatures tend to do well with this core.
Augurey (Feathers)
Augureys are a type of bird
Also known as the Irish Phoenix
Native range is Ireland and the UK
Augureys are shy and sad
Augureys sing/cry when its going to rain, people used to think they sang to foretell death
Their feathers are greenish-black
Their feathers repel ink, not good for quills
They eat fairies, insects, and flies
They live in a tear-shaped nest amongst thorns and brambles
Augurey Feather cores tend to be difficult to match with a wood, and tends to cleave to lighter-coloured woods more often than darker woods. They are excellent for water spells, repelling spells, and any magic used for general protective spells such as locking spells, burglar charms, Impervius,and fire-proofing spells. Augurey Feather core wands are not 'social' and do not like to be touched by anyone but their owner, and may spontaneously develop thorns to scratch and prick a would-be thief.
-The Rowan we find will not have any leave.
-The Wiggentrees are evergreen (easily spotted)
-Distract the bowtruckles with fairy eggs or woodlice
-Can use a recently fallen piece of wood but it needs to feel alive, otherwise make a connection to the tree you're taking wood from
-Dittany must be dug up, roots intact
-Placement charm on kelpie then diffindo off the mane
-Augurey feathers plucked from live bird (while singing)

Kace was seeing all the notes he took and he was surprised. He never knew how much notes this seminar required. He was scribbling and even more scribbling. His hand was starting to cramp up and then he heard the professor asking for partners? Huh? He perked his head up and he heard he needed to find someone with the same characteristics as his wand. He might as well try to find someone.
"Does anyone want to work together? I have 10 1/2 inch solid Beech with dragon heartstring core." he said listing off his wand. Hopefully he wouldn't work alone.

This was hard, there were so many different wands, what if Caleb couldn't find a partner or a group? This was his nightmare. Standing up on his chair, he cleared his throat and called out to the room.
"I'm looking for someone to partner with - I've got 9 1/2 inches, Demiguise wand core with Fir wood. Stiff and unyielding," he said. That was what that guy had said, right? Whatever. He just needed a partner!

He talked a lot, the wands' dude. But no way was he a chatty person. It just happened that he knew lots of stuffs about wands. Since it pretty much was what he did so yeah. Lots of talking and information. Luckily this wasn't going to be on a test...or was it? The man looked like he'd love to see kids sweating and chewing on quill staring at a parchment with 101 questions about what you learnt from the seminar. But they were mostly here for the field trip, right? RIiiight. Hopefully they wouldn't need lots of the info in the trip. Someone might be doomed.
Partnering! Cool! Cassia liked that. Meant they didn't have to work solo which would be boring. Who wanted to get bored, huh? No one did. Talking about the kids at least.

She made her way toward the headgirl!older!sister!Snake. "My wand has Dragon heartstring core, too!" She told her smiling. Because she could partner with Kat. How cool was that?!! YAY!

There was a LOT of information being given. A lot. A lot a lot. And Alec couldn't help but take them down in a semi-panic mode. This was all bound to be useful information, yeah? Because of their field trip. He really didn't want to mess things up there. And there was the small fact that his own wand was Rowan so... all of this tree stuff was quite interesting. Quite. Because he didn't do Herbology and, to him, trees were just trees.
... Moving on...
They had to find parters? The seventeen year old looked up and then around. ... Right. Partners. It would be a lot better to work with someone on this. A lot more fun, too! And he secretly hoped that the person he was working with knew a bit more about trees than he did. Or was just someone... he could get along with. Maybe.

Oh, oops. There was an Alice, who had somehow popped out of nowhere. Creepy, creepy Fischer. Mo panicked, and like the terrible liar he was, he hid his wand under his desk, as if he was going to try to insist to Alice that he didn't even own a wand and she must be crazy.
Only... the only reason he wasn't supposed to work with Alice in class was so that West could work with her, right? And West wasn't in this class, so it wasn't like she was picking him over West. And what if Alice couldn't find anyone? She had one of those weirdo wands that no one would match. Mo worked it over and over in his mind, trying to logic out whether or not West would mind, all while hiding his wand under his desk from Alice.
Finally, he pulled it out and laid it across the front of his desk with a sheepish air. Fine. Just measure it, then. "Eleven and 3/4 inches. Balanced fir. I polished it this morning, y'know?" Like she cared.

It seemed as if everything in the universe was trying to get these two to meet and talk to each other. ... Okay, that was an exaggeration but it was sort of true! And it had everything to do with that Astronomy activity. Definitely. He didn't really mind this but the girl was a little scary, you know. She just usually gave him that look that didn't sit well with him. It kind of made him want to give her a hug to take it away but... you know, she could end up punching him in the face. ... So yeah, that was that plan busted.
Alec did smile a little at her before packing up his things. See, he could be a gentleman and be the one to go over to her, especially since she had waved him over. Did that mean that she wanted to work with him or...? With his notes clutched in his hands, the seventeen year old headed over towards the younger girl. "Erm... hey, again. Looks like we'll be working together."

Minerva listened to the answers taking more notes. She felt like she had been taking a huge amount of notes, but it was so interesting and the field trip seemed pretty interesting as well. When the wand man said about finding someone with the same wand, or at least a same part of the wand she looked around, but eyes fell on the person right next to her. "Hey wasn't our wands really close?" She thought his size was different, but the rest if she remembered was close. "I have 12 inch, English oak, phoenix feather. What's yours again?" Well if she was wrong then she could find someone else.
Looking around she figured if she wasn't they could always have others as well. "If anyone wants to join us we have English Oak and Phoenix Feather the same in our wands." That should help anyone looking for a partner, right? Now what did they have to do. What for a portkey to be passed out. This was getting exciting and Min was interested in what was going to go on during the field trip.

This was all too much information for her brain to take in in this one sitting down time they were having. He talked a lot, did he know? Could she tell him? Would that be rude? Sometimes that was a necessary evil. It wouldn't be so bad but instead she sat and scribbled a few things here and there. Things that would be useful once they got out there into the forest.

After the last of her notes were written she began looking around for possible partners. They had to have similar wands in one way or another. Hmmmmm...She listened as everyone called out what they had. WAIT. Her head whipped around. English Oak?? Really??? "Min! I'll partner with you!!" Lex hopped up and made her way over to the older girl. Did she hear right? Was Wade joining too? Neat! "We can all travel together."
That was the easiest it ever was to find a partner. Like legit.

Marigold finished scribbling her notes with a flourish and excitedly put her quill down. FIELD TRIP!!!!!!! She had been looking forward to this ever since she signed the permission slip. But first she had to find a partner.
"Umm... my wand is Birch with a Phoenix feather core, 10 3/4 inches!" she said, anxiously wondering what would happen if she didn't have a partner.

But there were so many different wands, what if Nerida couldn't find a partner or a group? This was a nightmare. There were so many voices all talking she hadn't heard if they shared any of the same characteristics oh well. She would just say hers and see if she matched anybody.
Um, anyone want to partner, I've got 11 3/5 inch, Oak with Aethonon tail feather core. And its swishy!
So what if no one had any shared characteristics with her?

New friends then. "I have Ebony!" she called out, somewhat at random. Oh and there were other attributes too. "Pheonix feather, slightly springy" she said loudly. She was nearly positive that someone else had said Pheonix feather recently but didn't see who it was. Oh well, they could come and find her if they heard her. Or someone else with Ebony or slightly springy or something like that.

Benzi's hand hurt. He NEEDED to write this all down, for two single reasons. A) It was his wand wood they were talking about so he needed to know EVERYTHING about it, and B) Mummy had bullied him into it. For those precise reasons, Benzi ignored everyone yelling out their wands and concentrated on his notes, going over his last few scribbles and adding things where his memory permitted. His memory was pretty good, if he actually wanted to remember. It usually drove Mummy mad, which made him laugh.
Anyways. He needed partners. Packing up his things quickly, he scanned the crowds until he spotted that boy that had yelled out Rowan not moments ago, and made a beeline for him. "Hi! I'm Rowan and Unicorn too! Wh- oh. you," his enthusiasm diminished somewhat as he caught sight of the second person standing with his almost wand-twin. Galloway's friend.
Yuck. "Yeah, hi." Because what else do you say to the friend of your BIGGEST BADDEST mortal enemy?

Ohh! Adventure time! Adi was quite excited to get started but stuff needed to be done first. First, he scribbled as much notes as he could on what Mr. Banner was talking about. Bowtruckles, Wiggentrees etc. These notes were sure to come in handy.
Next, he needed a partner. The Head Girl was already calling out her wand's description in hope of finding a partner but her's did not match his. Ah well. "Does anyone's wand match at least one characteristic of mind? It's 10 2/3 inch Hazel with Hippogriff feather core.'' Any takers?
"Ey-yew!" Cutty hollared back at the boy calling out his wand description. "I mean Aditya." He said correcting himself his expression softening slightly as he remembered Adi's help in their Transfiguration class. "I've got a Hippogriff feather as a core for my wand as well." Aditya was, if nothing else, competent, so really this was going to work out nicely Cutty figured. And if there was something neither of them knew, he was willing to bet that Adi wasn't the slightest bit embarrassed to ask a dumb question. He moved from his seat, grabbed the last the notes he'd been taking which was monting evermore the instructor spoke, and headed over near Adi.
Groups? Adelaide looked around the room and watched as everyone started to pair off. All right. Might as well let herself be known. She gave grumpy one more smile before turning around to face the room. "Anyone got a willow wand that's springy or unicorn hair core?" They only had to match one thing right?

"You've got those scraps of parchments, yeah? Take a look at each other's to find out who's wand has the same wand qualities as yours." Ira suggested in a bit of a growl just so that nobody would go and think he was being helpful or anything.
He went and grabbed the box from the back of the room. Full of various items to be used as portkeys as it were.
"Who's ready for a portkey?" He started handing them out as groups were ready.
ooc: keep it up, once your group is ready you can say that they're taking a portkey (you don't need to wait for Ira to give it to them, this IS Ira giving it to them) and that it will work once all of the group have their hand on it. Portkeys are things like old boots, stinky socks, broken umbrellas, empty packets of crisps, a turnip, a headless teddybear, half of a skipping rope, a deflated basketball... feel free to be creative within reason yeah? The Field trip thread will open tomorrow, and I will post a link in here when it does, but you can still RP your character leaving after that. I suggest peeking at the ooc list of wand attributes in the first post and flicking a VM to someone with the same bits as yours, to facilitate going faster!

Marigold! The hugger! Tora smiled tentatively at her lively classmate and motioned towards the box of Portkeys. "You wanna go get one now? Or should we go find some more people for our troup?" she asked, shrugging. Now that she had a group, she didn't care if more people were joining or not.
She eyed the other girl, just in case she decided to give another hug attack. Because Tora was back to normal today and not down in the dumps like the other time by the lake, Marigold's hugs might not be so welcome. Then again, Tora didn't mind hugs, just she didn't really know what to do when they were so.... enthusiastic.
(I'm assuming this is after Hogsmeade, so they've been introduced properly)

Adrienne made a face at his smile. She was not happy about this group so far, not one bit. Although, she supposed, she was going to have to end up working with Alec for however long the rest of this seminar was, so it was probably a good idea to be at least somewhat civil. And my civil, she meant not angry, because she could definitely do that. Yeah. Easily.
"Looks like we will," she said, trying not to sound as irked as she already was. What was it with them and unfortunately, coincidentally, having to do things together? Or just, having to interact in general. She considered pointing out that hey, at least the only thing they had in common was their wand core, and lots of people had Unicorn tail hair. At least they didn't have the same wood or anything, because there was no way they were that similar. They were definitely different- namely, Adrienne wasn't half as annoying or huggy. Thankfully. But she refrained in the end, because again, she was trying to be civil so they could work together and win (was this even a competition?), and then never speak to one another again.

And it looked like this group was just getting depressingly worse and worse. Well, it's not like she hated this first year or anything- actually, she didn't think he was all that bad. It was Tora who had a problem with him, and Adrienne was pretty sure they were actually the twelve-year-old equivalent of mortal enemies, if that was even possible. Actually, she thought, maybe this was going to be okay. The kid had spunk, after all, and she could maybe fan the fire and make him even angrier at Tora. That could be fun, after all, and then maybe later she'd get to see them have a big fight, and maybe cast some spells at one another. That would be fun to see. The second year's mouth curled up into a devious smile.
"Benzi, right? I haven't really seen you since the feast, but Tora's told me you've managed to get even more annoying- her words, not mine." Actually, Tora had hardly mentioned him, just once or twice when she was in a really bad mood, or felt like complaining about any and everything.
Adrienne's attention was drawn to what's-his-face starting to hand out portkeys. They were ready, weren't they? Full of hostility, perhaps, but ready to get going. "I think we can get a portkey, no?" she proposed to the rest of the group.

Ella had one of those weird wands, huh? One of the ones no one had anything in common with? The blonde bit her lip and watched the other people in the class, wondering if she would go partner-less. But NO. That would be horrible. She was going to work around this little hiccup. She hated hiccups.
