Adi watched the students (feeling a tad jealous) as some of them were given the green light to swap all the horns and leaves at once. Even Hannah. She could gloat now. He watched the serious dude from Durmstrang do his swap in a blink of an eye. But, he had to remind himself, those were older students. He was only a puny first year.

The badger cast one more glance at Hannah before returning to decorate his toad. "Obiectum Verto!'' He quickly traced out the movement. Swap! ''Obiectum Verto! Obiectum Verto! Obiectum Verto! Obiectum Verto!'' Oh looky! He got all of those four to swap!

"But Professor, it's important to make him feel like he has some say in all this. Then he won't feel like he's being subjected to spells against his own will and won't go raising an army of experimental toads that'll take over the castle while we sleep and practice on us. I've seen all the movies. You gotta make 'em think they have some power." Nodnodnod. True story. She knew this but more importantly she was being given the go ahead to try more than one at a time.

She waited until the Professor had walked off before whispering to the toad. "Things should go a lot smoother now." You know, because now it wasn't that tedious process of one at a time anymore.

Let's see....there wasn't really some kind of incantation change where this spell was given...this meant it was most likely all about concentration. Okay. Lex had to focus. Had to make the swap happen with multiple leaves at a time. Alright. Focus Lex.

"Obiectum Verto!" Think more than one, more than one, more than one. This was about intent...which apparently she didn't have enough of? Well then. The Fourth Year puffed her cheek and stared down at the single leaf that had been swapped with the horn. Only one? That wasn't how it was meant to work. "Gimme a sec. I can get this." Again, had to make it feel incorporated.

There would be no toad rebellion on her watch, not unless she was leading it with an iron chocolate frog.

She still was unsure of how Mo managed to LOSE a LIZARD. It was right there on his desk, how difficult was it to make sure it didn't move anywhere? Alice continued crawling around until a pair of shoes stopped before her, one she really, really didn't want to see.

The sixth year slowly tilted her head to look up at Bellaire.

"I... um..." She looked at Mo for a split second, then back up again. ".... I.. think I lost my horned toad, professor."

"M'not an idiot," Mo mumbled to himself as took a spot at Alice's workstation and resumed practicing on her lizard. It was just a moment until the professor came by and saw him being all responsible and stuff, and then she would go on her way and he could keep looking for his lizard. Right?

Hopefully that would work.

Mo switched a few more horns with leaves, drawing out the infinity shape thing with his wand as he spoke the incantation, "Obiectum Verto. Obiectum Verto. Obiectum Verto." There were suddenly three new leaves on the horned toad and three horns on the alihotsy.

Oh, yeah... and an Ace in trouble. His fault.

Mo stepped out from behind his workstation and offered the horned toad to Alice. "I found yours, Ace. It was... over there. Erm... Obiectum Verto." And he switched one more horn, just so the professor wouldn't take away all the house points.

Everyone else was moving on, and Caleb was ALMOST done. He picked up his wand, pointed to his toad, and muttered "Obiectum Verto!" as he did the X motion in the air. The remaining horns on his toad's head vanished, and were replaced with leaves. Awesome!

"Professor! I'm done!" Caleb said, raising his hand. Yay success!

Oh, so they weren't going to repeat then? Great. Maybe it was just Min who was repeating all. But, yay, less effort to make for Kat. It was good to know that she could move on to the next step, even if she sort of felt curious when Professor Bellaire squinted at her work. Kat's eyes went to her toad but saw nothing wrong. Maybe just something curious-looking. Looks can be deceiving and their eyes were deceiving them. But yeah, moving on. Kat wasn't going to waste time observing her toad anymore. It really didn't do much because her toad just stared at her like she wasn't even there. Hmph, rude.

"Reverto," Kat said and all the horns appeared where they originally were, on the toad's back, head, and pretty much everywhere on its body. The alihotsy leaves were in their usual place as well. Goodbye, efforts. At least she could learn this next step... plus, switching them all together at once would be faster but probably more complicated, but nothing Kat couldn't achieve. Just a little bit more concentration and intent and she'd be switching them all at the same time like a pro.

Squinty face. The Head Girl tried to imagine all the alihotsy leaves on the toad again, hornless and all. Concentration and stuff, yeah. Kat wasn't going to get distracted. "Obiectum Verto." Hmmm... well, not ALL of the horns were replaced by alihotsy leaves but at least it was three leaves instead of just one. It was progress, yeah? That was okay for Kat, but not good enough. She can do better. "Reverto." Doing it again.

Okay. He could do them all again no sweat. Transfiguration was easy to understand, and West had already worked out the all at once thing. He changed the horns and leaves back again and decided to focus really hard on that rather than over-thinking other happenings in the lesson.

"Obiectum Verto." Extreme focus over here. The almost-infinity wand movement. And... switchy changey. Pleased, West examined his work and then went to change it back again. might as well keep practicing yeah?

"Obiectum Verto!"Finally Tora finished covering the poor toad with leaves! And she didn't cheat, not even once, by trying to switch more than one at a time. However, being rule abiding and going the long way 'round was a bit boring for Tora and so she started playing with her finished toad. She stroked the leaves flat with one gloved hand, then brushed back against the grain of the greenery. What if she started switching back and forth just for fun? She pointed at a leaf. "Obiectum Verto," she squinted at it and watched the leaf as it was slowly replaced with one of the horns she had previously removed. Was it the same horn? She pulled out her ink and dabbed a bit on the end of the horn to mark it out from the other countless ones that had covered the toad. "Obiectum Verto!" she said clearly and the horn was once again a leaf. She looked over at the plant she had ben using and looked all around it for the colored horn...there! Now would it be the same one when it returned? "Obiectum Verto!"

Minerva was still working with her toad since the professor had told her to start over. "Obiectum Verto." watching another leaf. Honestly why did she feel so bored today. Casually putting more leaves on the toad. She looked around watching the rest of the class a bit. Turning back to her toad she put a few more leaves on it.


Hearing the professor talk to one of the foreign students Minerva couldn't help but glare. Why was he getting to do all leaves at once and she made Min start over. She had done the spell perfect. Glaring down at her table she was annoyed about this. Doing the wand movement "Obiectum Verto." another leaf. Sighing she was bored...

While the toad waited as patiently as could be expected, she gave a few more waves of her wand, muttering the spell to herself. This was mostly about concentration and determination. That couldn't have been so hard to get. She DID want this working out nicely enough.

"Okay. I think I got it now." The Gryffindor gave her toad a firm nod. She was ready, he'd better be ready too. Nothing like being cast on when you least expect it. It left a certain...sting, you know?

Okay. More than one. She would get it this time.

"Obiectum Verto!" Were it not for the fact that Lex needed to check that this spell was actually working she would have squeezed her eyes shut in anticipation. As it stood, she left them wide open and watched as not one, not two but THREE horns were switched with the leaves. "Eeeep!!! Toooold you I could do it!!" But the toad wasn't hopping up and down in rejoice. How disappointing if she did say so herself.

Could have ben more grateful she didn't blow him up.

A few more casts later, and the leaves were on the toad, the toad's spikes on the plant.

Charlie smiled happily to herself, before taking furtive glances around the room. She wasn't sure if she herself should be moving on yet, and was pretty sure she needed to work on her control, so she began to work on switching them back to normal. "Obiectum verto," she muttered, waving her wand once again, and one leaf and one horn changed. She repeated the process, pleased to observe that this time, her mind didn't wander, and that only one horn and one leaf changed each time.

When she was finished, she leaned back against her chair, taking a few deep breaths and admiring her handiwork. She wasn't arrogant, at all; in fact, she was more often that not, but today Charlie would admit that she was pleased with her wandwork.

Hehe.

Straightening up, she began to cast again. "Obiectum verto." Third time was a charm, right? And this would be her third go of switching the leaves and the horns one by one. After this, maybe she would be ready to move on to more than one at a time? "Obiectum verto."

"Professor?" Raise of the hand and all that jazz. Did she mention that the Professor had totally cute shoes? Because she did. But anyway! "Is there anything I need to work on, before moving on?"

Or could she start changing more than one leaf at once?

She'd gotten a very good! Did anyone else hear that? For some reason this made Ella feel really happy because Bellaire didn't seem the type to say that unless she meant it and Ella had been reading up on Transfiguration a lot lately. It seemed her work was paying off which was really cool. Maybe she could do an okay job on a Transfiguration NEWT next year after all.

Moving on though, yeah? Ella now needed to try to switch all the leaves out that she'd put on the toad and all at once. It was going to take some serious concentration. She was doing that too, the concentrating thing. Nothing was going to distract her, not even whatever was going on with Hulk and Mo. Brows to those two. The missing horned toad was okay, wasn't it?

"Obiectum Verto!" Loopy-fishy-shapey movement and BAM! Check you out, Mr. Bart. You're back to being horned.

Ella checked the horned toad thoroughly to make sure she'd gotten all the leaves in one go and then smiled. This was FUN. Now she'd try switching to leaves again, okay? Okay.

"Obiectum Verto!"

Adelaide took a glance around the room. A lot of people seemed to be getting a hang of the spell now. Good. She looked back at her own little horned toad. She took another deep breath before going back to trying and changing all the leaves before.

"Obiectum verto." Voíla. A few more leaves appeared this time. She gave herself another small smile. She was no where close to mastering the spell, but she was getting closer to at least being really good at it.

Professor Bellaire looked between the both of them and scowled heavily. She didn't notice a frog on Mo's desk so why was there one frog.

"On your feet Miss Fischer." And that tone clearly reflected her annoyance.

"I am no Arithmancy Professor, but there are two of you and this is one toad..where is your toad Miss Fischer? I can't imagine Mr.Branxton's toad is your toad yet you're on your knees searching..."

Professor Bellaire walked over and stuck her nose close to the toad so she could properly inspect it."Yes, yes...very good. Swap them over all at once a few times to get the hang of it before you leave." She checked her watch to make a point. Time was running out.

More hands. Professor Bellaire was loving the statistics. She wasn't sure she had ever had as much success with a spell before in terms of the amount of students who managed to master it, but this was good.

"Excellent job, try switching them all out now and quickly it's almost time to go."


Passing by the prefect's table again, Professor Bellaire frowned at her and stopped. "When I said start over..I meant from a clean perfectly horned frog, which I reverted back for you. Stop wasting time Miss Wheatborn, swap the horns all at once. Class is ending soon."

Professor Bellaire hurried over, wanting too get to every student before the class time ran out. Hmmmm..she checked the toad up and down and she checked the leaves to see if they were horn looking...and no.

"Good job, move on to switching them out all at once."

Lex kinda felt like she was in the zone now. Three leaves in one go and she knew she could do better. Just a little way off from her, she saw her Captain crawling on the floor and Mo talking about toads to the Professor. Did she want to know? Not reallyyyyyy but she'd ask later out of a complusive curiosity streak.

All her attention right now needed to be on her toad. Despite his lack of enthusiasm when she got it right, she would press on.

"I think we should try for like....five leaves? What do you think?" The fourth year tapped on her glass a few times, trying to evoke a reaction but the toad remained passive. Boo. "Do try to contain your enthusiasm, it's terribly distracting." Take the hint toad. No? Okay. Casting again anyway.

"Obiectum Verto!"

This time she didn't feel the need to close her eyes, in fact they widened somewhat. Why? BECAUSE SHE SWAPPED SIX LEAVES!! One more than she intended!! Whether that was a good sign or not, she didn't CARE. Multiple leaves swapping was happening over here.

Kace was getting more confident with the spell now. He just needed to approve it with the professor. Kace said the incantation with the wand movement of half of loop he called it, "Obiectum Verto!" and with his confidence in the spell he noticed that his toad was having little leaf buds grow out. He was confident and he raised his hand to get the professor's attention.

"Professor should i move on now?" he asked motioning toward his toad.

Minerva jumped hearing Professor Bellaire's voice. Not that she had been doing anything she shouldn't, but she her mind had drifted to other things that were going on. So she was startled a bit when someone spoke to her. She glanced up at the professor and then back to the frog. "Oh" she said as she realized what the professor had really meant. Where was her head that she got that wrong.

"Alright professor I'll get right on it." Wow did she screw that up. She needed to get her head into class. Looking at the toad again she did the wand movements. "Obiectum Verto" She watched the horns all turn into leaves. "Reverto" She did the movement again "Obiectum Verto" the toad turned into Mr. Leafy again. Well this was better then just one at a time. Thankfully it didn't seem like she irritated the professor to much.

Erm... oops. He hadn't thought of that when he jumped in to save an Alice, and now they were sharing a lizard. He dumped the creature unceremoniously back into her hands before turning back to face the professor. The very grumpy professor.

"I lost mine, and Alice was helping me look. We were taking turns working on hers while we worked so I wouldn't get behind." Mostly true. He'd tried to steal hers, but they ended up both doing the spell work on hers, so it wasn't even really a lie.

"I'll just... Accio my lizard." Shuffle shuffle shuffle.

West was getting pretty good at this, but he did stop due to the distraction of Mo and Alice over there. His shoulders hunched a little as he tried to ignore things, and subconsciously he shifted a little closer to Theo. For bro reasons.

But this lizard, it was now covered in leaves. So that was...good. He'd done it all in one go a couple times now, finding it easier each time. Should he change it back? Eh, he'd wait until whatever was going on over there wasn't going on, since it was a huge distraction to him, for obvious reasons.

Blair smiled, thankfully she seemed to be getting the hang of the spell. Okay swap them all over at once, she could do that.

Once again Blair made the 'fish'wand movement and spoke "Obiectum Verto." It worked but only the same as before, switching on horn for a leaf. Not to be beaten, she tried again. More forcefully this time she said "Obiectum Verto!"

Success! All be it only 4 leaves were switched on to the toad, but none the less more than one. Blair decided she needed to practice a little more before she tried to get the Professor's attention again.

Wait, he had to reverse the switching now? Wasn't that the Professor's job after they left? Ugh. Great. Well, more practice couldn't hurt, he supposed.

Clearing his throat, he took his wand, made the X in the air and yelled "Obiectum Verto," waiting to see if it had worked. Well, no more leaves! At least a few of them had vanished. There were still a good number of them BUT some of the horns had come back. So. Success.

Blair's toad was starting to look too much like a plant, she doubted whether she'd be able to tell if she switched more leafs. She decided to switch the leaves back on to the plant. "Reverto." At once the alihotsy had its leaves back and the toad was horned once more. Now to try switch more than four.

Concentrating with all her might she made the motion with her want and spoke "Obiectum Verto." At least ten leaves had switched with the horns this time, she was making some progress. She tried again "Obiectum Verto!" This time she had it. All the leaves of the alihotsy plant were now on the toad. Blair done a mini sort of jump for joy.

Adi was getting mighty bored of this now. He had swapped more leaved and horns now. Couldn't he have a go at swapping them all together? Look there was Caleb already trying that out. Sighing, he returned to his swapping.

"Obiectum Verto!'' One more swap to join the seemingly hundreds that he had already done. "Obiectum Verto! Obiectum Verto!'' Two more.

"Tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime!! !" Goodness. Professor Bellaire scurried to the middle of the class tapping her watch. She was never late...always on time but she had most certainly gone over time with this lesson. Goodness she had her class this early, so she wasn't going into another professor's time.

"Okay everyone, good job! Home work will be posted on the notice board so look out for it, have a nice day and have a productive life. Goodbye."

With that class was over, Blair was pleased with her progress today. Before leaving she decided it would be best to completely switch the horns and leaves back to their rightful places, "Reverto."

The toad was now covered in horns again. Blair packed away her belongings into her satchel then gave the toad a stroke, "Goodbye, little guy."

Blair passed Professor Bellaire on her way to the door, "See you later Professor, thanks for a great lesson." She turned a left the room.
