| | The Courtyard
A stone courtyard with columns surrounding the square in the middle is the perfect place for students to hang out. Benches have been provided for the students to sit on with friends or for those who want some peace and read their textbook. In the center of the courtyard is an antique fountain surrounded by statues of eagles. |

Tugging the green hat Elodie had knit for her further down so it covered her ears, Olly shuffled her feet trudging through the snow. Now, what to do? Her brown eyes scanned the courtyard for something interesting when they fell on...
...was that Dora? She squinted slightly before making her way over to the corner of the courtyard the girl was occupying. And yes, it was indeed her. Without greeting or asking for permission, Olly simply sat down on the same bench as Dora. Hi. For a moment, the Hufflepuff just sat in silence, looking up at the sky. "I kind of like the snow." She had seen her, as she saw everyone that had passed through the courtyard and it's corridor, even if they didn't see her. But Olly did see Dora and she wasn't the least bit surprised when the fifth year came over. A bit pleased in fact, even if she didn't show it. Isidora wouldn't come out of hiding if she didn't want to see some familiar faces. "I love the snow," She didn't look up from her book, just kept writing within the margins. "And the cold. Have a high tolerance for it." Dora kept quiet for a long while, flipping pages and writing notes in the margins. The best thing about Olly was that she didn't require talking. They could sit and simply enjoy each other's company and that be that.
When she was ready to talk to the girl again, she paused to glace up from her book and over at the girl from under her hood. "This isn't much snow though. Not compared to home it's not."

Olly glanced at the other girl for a moment when she replied. "Mhm." She didn't mind the cold either. As long as you wore enough clothes it was fine. Unlike, say, in Muggle Studies class where she'd been wearing her normal school robes and it had been FREEZING. Then she hadn't particularly liked the cold. But usually she agreed with Dora had said, yes. She watched her scribble something in her book a second longer before averting her gaze to the snow at her feet. She drew a line in it with her shoe absently. "Yeah?" That actually did catch her attention and she looked back up at Dora's face. They had more snow than that? Like, outside their house or something? Olly wasn't sure she would want to be, like, properly snowed in or something. Because while she did stay home a lot, she'd absolutely hate the idea of not being ABLE to leave the house. Then again, they were witches, so there was probably an easy spell to get rid of the snow. |

Just have to watch out for ice." That wasn't so fun if you were out and managed to slip on a patch. Her eyes did briefly glance at the snow that was out now, walking paths cleared either by magic or multiple footprints that had made their way through them. "What brings you out here?" Not reading like Dora, but maybe company. Whatever the reason she didn't mind, but was curious as always.

Though Olly could imagine them being quite nice to watch as long as you were INSIDE and all. She could totally picture that now. "So this-" She kicked some of the snow at her feet again. "-this must be like summer for you then." There was a small grin on her lips as she glanced back up at the other girl. Speaking of, now she sort of wondered what summer was like there.
At Dora's question Olly just shrugged. "I'm hiding from my textbooks." And while this was supposed to be a joke, it really was true to some extent. Her gaze fell on the book the other girl had been scribbling notes in and she nodded at it. "What are you doing?" Was it school related? |

"Mainly because I couldn't be bothered to make it to try-outs." She could be very lazy and she had to be in the mood to do things you know! "HA! Confidence definitely doesn't have anything to do with it." Had he not put that much together for himself yet? He preferred what? "Cricket? You mean like an insect?" That was an insect right? Her mind automatically went to his blood status. This one most likely had dirty blood... figures! "What?" What was he going on about now? She looked in the direction of the head nod and noticed a tiny bird. "That would be pretty cool." See she could play nice sometimes. "Rude, me?" She feigned surprise and put her hand over her mouth rather dramatically. "Why are you so sure that something is bothering me anyways?" Yeah, something definitely bothering her, but she was still going to play dumb for the time being. She noticed the change in Adi that came with her duffer comment. "Struck a nerve did I?" There really was no point in arguing over the Hufflepuff duffer thing, nothing was going to change her mind. Before she could comment further on the duffer situation, the sixth year was once again laughing loudly. "I'm a..." Laugh, LAUGH, laugh. She was having a hard time getting her words out. "I'm a meanie." She was clutching at her sides as she tried to once again control her laughter. "You sure are a laugh firstie." Maybe she would keep him around for giggles. Meanie... that was a good one. She had definitely been called way worse.
She couldn't talk anymore about the duffer thing because she just knew that she would not be able to keep it together. So she just ignored the last comment that Adi made. "You and I have a very different definition of the word coward I'm afraid." Slytherins were not cowards. How was saving your own neck before somebody else cowardly? Hello!!! Nobody was going to look out for you like you. "There's a very thin line between being a coward and being stupid." She was not stupid! "I see,'' Adi said in reply. "I suppose you sleep in late on weekends, then? Maybe even during on class days, too?'' He wondered if it was her habit to be late for classes. He himself liked being on time for everything. "If you say so then. But somehow I don't really think it's because you're not bothered to turn up for the try outs.'' He fixed his gaze on Hannah as if trying to finds hints of reasons on her face. As for cricket...Adi rolled his eyes in exasperation. Seriously? "It's a sport. Ask Professor Hadley to explain.'' Maybe she'd do a class on sports and possibly focus on cricket. Educate those who were...less knowledgeable about the game.
Oh wow! This one loved to laugh, it seemed. And the extra act with her hands. "Drama queen,'' Adi told her. Yep. Even though he knew she did it on purpose. "I'm sure because of the look you had on your face. Sort of like you were lost in your own world.'' How many times had he seen that look on other faces? Oh and there she went again with that laughter. Adi waited patiently for her to finish. "Do you like showing off your laugh or something?'' She must really think highly of her laugh since she was always doing it. "And yes. Wouldn't you have reacted the same way if I said something bad about your House?'' Duh. She would. "Or on second thought, you might have just hexed me or something.'' Slytherins. Always wanted to be the best. "Meanie.'' Yep. 'Cos she was.
Stupid and cowardly? No, Adi believed the two were very differently. "Saving your own skin is cowardly,'' he told Meanie firmly. "And it's stupid.'' |

"I've never tried hiding from them, does it work?" She turned back to her book breifly, long enough to make a few more notes in the margins and bookmark her page before giving Olly her full attention. "Just some studies that I do apart from school nonsense." Dora was more into that than she was her actual school work, which was okay since this was her OWL year and she didn't really need school stuff to pass.

Not that it was relevant to this assignment.
She set up her telescoped and scanned the skies. This time she took her time. It was starting to warm up and she didn't mind being outside for a longer period of time. She searched and found the constellation in question. And then continued to stargaze for another half hour.
And when she felt satisfied with her cultural enrichment for the day, she gathered her things and headed back inside.

He said again. Even though Tag had pretty much already greeted Wade. Thumbs up for you Mister, Wade keeping his hair in check. Hair was important here at Hogwarts. "At least you're doing good. But maybe we should try and do something to unbore you." Because that solved all the problems.
"Me? I'm just taking a break from all this OWLS studying. Its really putting a damper on me wanting to hang around the castle with my friends, and the kitchen." He explained. But, usually, Tag always found time for his friends. "I was hoping my feet would get me a bit lost further into the grounds, but hey, they brought me to you." Tag added with a smile. Oh. Carrots! Tag reached his hand into Wade's bag and took out three sticks and started eating them. "Thanks!" Wade wasn't too sure, though Tag seemed very relived about something. Maybe it was on finding him or perhaps the supposed chilling conditions around here. He titled his head at him, looking amused at the second 'hey' from him. " Hey.." What? It made sense to reply back didn't it? Heh. " Why don't you have a seat? Then we really could do something together." Sweeping his bag off the nearest spot next to him, it was now meant for Tag. So now they could hang out together.
Oh yea, that's right, Tag was in his fifth year this year. So they were out for the same reasons. " Same with my NEWTs.. These exams barely let any fun squeeze in." True stuff right there. " You had any idea on what you wanted to do after school?" He knew some careers really required the extra studying. Now wasn't life sweet? Smiling at how Tag got here. " Maybe later on we could probably venture in the grounds and see if any Hippogriffs got loose again." He remembered hearing that last year when they were escaping the forest. " No problem.. I usually carry pickles too, but these are all I got until the kitchen gets them again." Sure, he didn't have to mention it. But he knew that Tag knew of his pickle obsession and thought a little explanation was in order.

If he added another hey right now they might be doing this all day and would, eventually, somehow end up something some type of 'Hey' song. Wade was a nice dude, telling Tag to sit down. So the little leprechaun did that. He took a seat. What were they going to do sitting down? Tag didn't know but Wade must have something special planned.
" Right! Exactly!" He said agreeing on Wade's point about having no fun. The little boy did try to hang out with his friends, but every time he was done hanging out it was back to hitting the books. Not literally. Then the leprechaun shook his head at Wade's question. " No idea. I've been thinking about it but I just don't know. I like animals, and playing my guitar and singing a bit." It was always good to start with passions and try to find something centered around that, right? " And you? Do you have anything planned?" Wade's moment of becoming a literal adult was approaching very fast.
HIPPOGRIFFS! " Yes! Yes we can find these loose hippogriffs. An maybe ride them!" They'd seen each other at the Diagon Alley fair over the summer yeah? That was a fun time. How cool would it be to actually ride a Hippogriff, though?!
Tag then laughed at Wade's next words. " Sounds like the kitchen elves have stolen your pickles. I'm sure they'll be waiting for you in no time!" One could only hope.

Lots of really old bands." he finally said with a shrug. The list, of course, would go on and on but he didn't want to bore her. "Quidditch is great to watch!" Dylan agreed. Although, it seemed like it'd be more fun to be playing in the matches rather than watching. But he had missed out on try outs this year, sadly. There was always next year, and the next years after that, though! "But anyways, tell me about how you're liking Gryffindor house." he changed the subject. He had always been quite curious on what the other houses were like, especially how their common rooms looked. "Hm, I've never heard of those bands. I'll have to listen to them during the summer holidays!" Bethany said with a smile. She'd never been one for remembering song names or artist names, but the older bands had intrigued her. She enjoyed learning, a lot.
The subject had suddenly changed, but Bethany was glad. She'd feared that they would have gone into an awkward silence if they'd kept on with the music talk. She was never good with silence. She answered his question with a smile, "It's great! Everyone is really kind. The common room is really pretty as well, the colours are magnificent. How're you liking Hufflepuff house?" Bethany asked. She'd always wondered what other houses were like.

Something told her that Dora was actually serious about this. Or sort of anyway. Wow. "There aren't that many people out and about either." When it was cold. In summer she imagined people spending all their time dancing around by the lake, trying to get a tan or showing off their summer clothes. All about being seen.
So, yeah, naturally, Olly liked it better when it was like it was right now.
Olly shrugged with a small sigh, her eyes resting on Dora even though the other girl wasn't looking at her. "Not really, no." But it was worth a try, yeah? Actually, Olly would never have thought that she would get so worried about her OWLs and final exams. She partly blamed Els.
And to distract herself from those thoughts, she leaned forward slightly in an attempt to catch a glimpse of what Dora was scribbling in her book. "Yeah? What are you working on?" |

At least not anymore. "You seem like the type that gets everywhere thirty minutes early." She was sure that he was always an early bird, and most likely knocked down the professors trying to get to class on time and do right. "Am I right?" Of course she was! She didn't wait for him to confirm this and went right on the next topic. "What do you know about me?" Nothing, absolutely nothing. "You're a child and regardless of what you think my face might tell you, you know nothing!" How could he even entertain the idea that he was intelligent about her life. She didn't even know why she was getting so worked up over it in the first place. Cricket was a sport? "I don't care enough about it to ask Hadley." Hannah didn't even want to get started on how she felt about the Muggle Studies teacher and that subject in general. "I don't know about the drama part, but the queen part is pretty fitting." She was glad that he was finally starting to catch on. Ugh! Then the next comment happened. There he was acting like he knew her again. "Let us not pretend that you know me okay?" She was starting to get annoyed very quickly. Now there was an issue with her laughter? "Is it a crime to laugh now?" Was there some sort of quota that she hit? "I don't think I would have reacted in the same way as you." She would most likely have done worse, way worse. Then the first year brought up hexing. Might not want to give me any ideas." He was making her want to hex him more and more with every passing second.

Perhaps this summer he could just show her himself, maybe he'd invite her over, depending on how much better friends they became. He then smiled when she began to describe her house. It seemed like a nice one, Gryffindor. Gryffindor had been one of his hopes for a house, but he preferred Hufflepuff way more now that he was in it. "That's cool! I'd have to agree with my house, I love everyone in it and the common room is really cozy." he told her. "Do you have a favorite class?" he then asked. He tended to ask this question a lot, it was interesting to hear everyone's different answers.

"Yeah? What are you working on?" "No, but we're magic, so it doesn't exactly stop people from visiting or leaving." Which Dora had always found rather unfortunate. That muggles had the luxury of being snowed in with family when she never did. An apocalyptic storm could have happened around them and still have no effect on them or their travels so long as magic was around.
Dora leaned against the stone corner wall behind her and finally settled her gaze proper on Olly, hood falling back enough so that her entire face could be seen. "I like to experiment." She shrugged. "Potions, runes, spells, activities... you name it I like to try and test it." But did she ever elaborate moooore than that? No. Not that someone had ever asked further questions before. "We could mess around with spells now if you want."

I'd have to agree with my house, I love everyone in it and the common room is really cozy." he told her. "Do you have a favorite class?" he then asked. He tended to ask this question a lot, it was interesting to hear everyone's different answers. She smiled, giving him a nod. "That sounds cool, I've always wondered about other houses!" Hufflepuffs were pretty cool, she had to admit. Out of the few she had met, they were all really kind and she learned a bit more out of every conversation. She turned her attention back to her book, but not before answering one of her favorite questions. "I honestly can't pick just one, that's impossible for me. However, if I really had to choose just one I'd say it would be Herbology. I love plants, especially since I grew up in an orchard. They're fantastic!" She smiled. She was probably boring the poor boy, but he did ask. "What about you? Any favorite classes?"

"We could mess around with spells now if you want." What? Oh, back home? "No, I meant here. I like the cold because there aren't that many people around here." She'd stopped wondering about Dora's home a whiiiile ago. Okay, half a minute ago but whatever. She even looked around for a moment as if to prove what she'd just said. And like she'd just pointed out, there was hardly anyone around. Good. Another reason not to spend time in the Common Room though. Sometimes it felt like every single 'Puff was there at the same time. Ew.
Experiment. "Huh." Olly stopped catching a glimpse of Dora's notes. It immediately got a little less interesting when she was allowed to see them. Mess around with spells? "As long as you're doing the spellwork, yes." She grinned, giving the other girl a curious look. What kinds of spells were they going to be trying? |

Well that attitude won't get her anywhere, would it? "You snooze, you loose,'' Adi said with a grin. That should put a hole in Hannah's bubble about doing whatever she liked. "I am,'' he confirmed quite proudly. Indeed he was. He liked getting everywhere on time. No shame in that. "Too bad you aren't.'' No, he didn't care about beating around the bush. Gotta say what you have to.
Why was she so worked up, anyway? He was just trying to help. Talking can help, right? Sheesh. "I know nothing,'' the firstie agreed. "And I'm not sure I do want to know you.'' 'Cos she was a meanie and all. "Don't bother, then. Keep your problem to yourself because I do know something is bothering you.'' He was only a first year but he was not stupid enough to miss the lost look on the Slytherin's face earlier. And it seemed she didn't like stuff to do with Muggles. Interesting. "Don't you like Muggle Studies? Or Professor Hadley?''
Now it was Adi's turn once more to burst into laughter. A queen? Really? Hahaha! "You're quite funny, you know that?'' he asked between laughs. Oh Merlin! She really thought she was better than everyone? "And no, laughing is not. Otherwise I wouldn't be doing it right now!'' He carried on, clutching at a stitch in his left side.
Recovering somewhat, Adi continued to grin. "I bet you might do worse.'' That or do nothing at all were the only options left and from what he could figure, Hannah seemed the type to do worse. "Oh, I wouldn't worry about that. First, the Healer would patch me up in no time and second, you would be in trouble, Missy.'' It was a win-win for him on both sides.

Which was pretty much anyone she didn't consider a friend or interesting. "The castle gets extra crowded though." So downside there.
Dora stowed away her book within her cloak and sent Olly amused glances. "Why do I have to be the one doing all the spellwork, huh?" The Ravenclaw was more curious than actually caring of having to be the one doing the casting.

Snoozing was a good time, and she didn't think that she had missed out on anything so she wasn't at all bothered with that statement. She merely shrugged her shoulders to that little comment. She couldn't help but glare a tiny bit at how Adi lit up when he confirmed that he was in fact an early bird. "You seem really proud." A bit too proud, but whatever. Too bad she wasn't? "I've survived so far." She was not going to get places early and wait on people. Patience was not a virtue of hers. "I manage to get where I need to go." It hasn't hurt her so far. "You're right you know nothing!" She was glad that the firstie had finally seen the light. Finally something that they could agree on. He didn't want to know her? "Oh no, whatever will I do?" she said rather dramatically. She raised the back of her hand to her forehead for added affect. Still, he was here so maybe he did want to get to know her. She couldn't blame him if that were the case. "I have every intention of keeping everything to myself." Not that she needed his approval or anything. She could tell by the way he asked the next question, that Adi did like Muggle Studies. "Is that a serious question?" Because Hannah thought Muggle Studies was a big fat waste of time. Hadley teaching that rubbish subject didn't make her any better than a common muggle. "Being funny is just one of my many admirable qualities." Would he like a list of them? She could provide him with one. She inspected her nails, bored, while Adi has his little laughing fit. She did not comment on it though.
They have agreed on something for the second time. Yes, I would definitely do worse." Evil thoughts about all that she could do flitted through her mind while a small smile played across her face. True, she would get into trouble and the healer would be able to put him back together again. "The satisfaction would be worth it." That much was true!

The Ravenclaw was more curious than actually caring of having to be the one doing the casting. Olly frowned thinking about the amount of people INSIDE the castle. "Yeah, the Common Room's awful right now." Everyone was THERE. All the time. She couldn't even get to her dorm without random Hufflepuffs calling her name...okay, well, that wasn't true. Most of them had learned that it was NOT a good idea to talk to her. But there were always the persistent ones. Or the ones who annoyed her on purpose. Like Stan.
And with that the book was gone. "Because I'd probably set you on fire." Somehow seeing as this was Dora, Olly didn't mind sharing this piece of information with her. It wasn't exactly her deepest secret that no one knew about. She just tried to avoid having those people know who could use it against her. |

There was no escaping all the other Ravenclaws, which she wouldn't have minded if the dorms weren't crowded either. And even though Dora loved some of her dorm mates... she needed space from the others.
She raised an inquisitive brow at Olly, twirling her wand thoughtfully between her fingers. "You don't know how to use your wand, or control your magic?" Like was she WILD with it or, just had a difficult wand? The fifth year Ravenclaw was curious.

"Oh I know, Potions is great! Herbology and Potions are a bit similar actually, so I quite like both." Bethany admitted. She did however prefer the location of the herbology classroom over the potions classroom. The lessons were great, the classroom though was not exactly so great. It was so stuffy in there!
Closing her book, she neatly put it back into her bag. "Of course not! Don't worry about it, I've read that book more times than necessary." She laughed. "If you do get bored or something though, don't be afraid to tell me, I won't mind." She said with a smile. Conversations had to end somewhere. She understood, but she didn't want him to feel as if he'd interrupted her reading, he hadn't at all!

A couple days after finding Pluto Nerida decided to go back and adventure the great outdoors and search the sky for more stars and constellations. She had found the only planet so nope! She hoped she would find Sirius soon! She loved that star... It had a really radical name!! Setting down her telescope she looked around, ah what a beautiful night it was! She set up the telescope and carefully started to look around for the star. But alas she couldn't see the star so now it was time to look for the constellations!
An easy thing, right? Scooting back just a bit just because. She started to scan the sky for the first constellation. Gemini, with luck she found it almost immediately. Yay! She found it, another success in her Astronomy book..

So the little leprechaun did that. He took a seat. What were they going to do sitting down? Tag didn't know but Wade must have something special planned.
"Right! Exactly!" He said agreeing on Wade's point about having no fun. The little boy did try to hang out with his friends, but every time he was done hanging out it was back to hitting the books. Not literally. Then the leprechaun shook his head at Wade's question. "No idea. I've been thinking about it but I just don't know. I like animals, and playing my guitar and singing a bit." It was always good to start with passions and try to find something centered around that, right? "And you? Do you have anything planned?" Wade's moment of becoming a literal adult was approaching very fast.
HIPPOGRIFFS! "Yes! Yes we can find these loose hippogriffs. An maybe ride them!" They'd seen each other at the Diagon Alley fair over the summer yeah? That was a fun time. How cool would it be to actually ride a Hippogriff, though?!
Tag then laughed at Wade's next words. "Sounds like the kitchen elves have stolen your pickles. I'm sure they'll be waiting for you in no time!" One could only hope.
Tag was laughing. Didn't he realise how contagious they were? Probably did, and it was working as Wade started laughing with him. Now why did it take so long for him to find this leprechaun. Tag was an alright guy to him now as he turned to give him a good * RUFFLE*RUFFLE* for his hair. " Well, that's about to change." See, they will have some fun while they still can. Heh.
Wade definitely to relate to him, he had just about the same issue for some time. Hippogriffs or Quidditch? " I get you.." Nodding as Tag claimed to be unsure at the moment.. wait. He blinked. " You play guitar?" Now that was interesting, oh yeah, now him. As his furrowed his brows to consider. " Well.. all depends on the last game. I'm likely to play Quidditch professionally right after if I do well enough, otherwise I'll be off to Wizarding University for Hippogriff studies." Well, that was the plan. He tilted his head at Tag, " Did you ever talk with Professor Bentley about it?" Since she was Gryffindor's head of house and that was the first place to go on that.
" Now that would be awesome." again, heh. Hippogriffs were cute and awesome, simple as that. Wade grinned, " We did have fun on that mechanical one.. Have you ever ridden a live one before?" Blinking as Tag laughed, going cold turkey for three months without pickles was pretty daunting to him. " Maybe.. it's just strange how even the elves have no clue where they went." Very strange, indeed.
