| | Suits of Armour
The castle houses numerous suits of armour, scattered all about, but one of the most impressive collections can be found on the second floor, as if guarding the way to the Headmistress' chambers. Why, even their spacing down this corridor could be a deliberate attack pattern.
Careful what you try with these dusty, dirty, squeaky knights. They can be rather... animated.

It took him long enough. "Awesome, now we just need to work on how we're getting in them in the first place." He was going to help her into hers and that was all kinds of great but it meant nothing if they didn't know how they were getting in. "You figure these things open in the middle? Like we could just take off the top half or something?" She eyed them each going straight down the line. If one wanted to offer a demonstration she wouldn't really complain. As it stood that seemed to be a no.
Didn't matter, they were doing this anyway. "Give me a hand with this." She took hold of the upper body of the suit. They were going to try lifting and hope it worked out. If not, plan B but 'cept she didn't have a plan B so this kinda needed to work the first time.
On three whenever he was ready. Aidan craned his neck around the back of his suit of armour, looking for a seam? Open in the middle? He didn't think so, he thought they just slipped into the legs and slipped the torso on top...
Oh, that was what Lex meant. "Yeah, split them in half," he nodded.
His eyes widened when she grabbed a torso. Those were probably EXTREMELY heavy. Or heavy for just her along. Maybe him, too, but he was also a guy and wanted to think he was strong enough to lift it. Immediately he had his hands on the top of the armour as well. "Okay ready? ....Lift." And he began trying to detach it from its legs.

They were taking this thing apart by the middle and crawling in. Just like she figured they would, hence her already set to heave it off.
She nodded, indicating she was ready the moment he was ready but when she started lifting...or trying to lift, she got the idea the suit was mocking them. It wouldn't even budge. Lex withdrew her hands, feeling the strain from the heavy metal and a slight friction burn. This clearly wasn't the way they were meant to go about this. "I doubt they glued them together but like...you know how they're charmed to move on their own? What if they're charmed shut?"
That...was grounds for blowing it apart with....welll it was a small project so maybe with bombarda to start, but she'd wait for his input before suggesting that, just in case he came up with a better idea. He was the Ravenclaw afterall. "There has to be a way inside these. People use to wear them and I doubt asking will help." Deaf ears man, deaf ears.

It didn't cross his mind that it wouldn't come apart. Like Lex said, people did wear them, there had to be a way inside.
Charmed them shut...Hmm.. Aidan took his wand out and circled around the suit. "Maybe they're just charmed to stay together? To keep shape? Prevent them all from crashing down if someone accidentally ran into one?" He came back around to Lex and looked at her. "Maybe a simple 'finite' will do the trick?"
He aimed his wand at the divide between the armour's torso and legs, "Finite." Hopefully the arms and helmet wouldn't come crashing down. If it worked at all.

It had been a quiet year in the corridor, other than girls storming out of Arithmancy.
Clank, clank.
The sound of a spell hitting the metal was deafening, as the suits stumbled backwards and fell onto it's metal bottom, legs apart.

The sound of a spell hitting the metal was deafening, as the suits stumbled backwards and fell onto it's metal bottom, legs apart. Aidan made a very legit point. See, this was why he was the Ravenclaw. Giving excuses for the suit so she wouldn't resort to blasting it apart for being so damn stubborn. Lex kicked at the suit before stepping back so he could have a crack at it. He cast a simple enough spell but it should have worked....if their theory was correct in the first place.
The deafening sound though...that was unexpected and the Gryffindor threw her hands over her ears almost immediately as she watched the suit fall to the ground.
Er...did that mean it didn't work? Only one way to find out. "Nice shot." Lex commented idly as she made her way over. "Let's see if we can get this thing off now." Something told her she should have been concerned by the fact that it was now sprawled along the ground but that would be worried about laaater, they had a race to start. "On three." She said, gripping the top half again. "One...two...three!" Puuull.
