It was starting to become an internal struggle and this was entirely Ella No Middle Name Bishop's fault. Nobody told her to be so pretty and no one told her to do that... that... pouty lips thing. So really, it wasn't his fault that he was staring at her seriously debating whether or not to just kiss her or not right then and there. Instead, he... looked away. Then he wouldn't be tempted, yeah? Foolproof plan.

"Awesome!" he said, grinning at her. Not that he'd mind if she challenged him to a mattress sliding contest but he was sure he'd lose. And then he'd let Tag down. And that latter part was definitely not allowed in the history of ever.

So not only was she sitting on him, her hair was also blowing right in his face, practically blinding him with its luscious blondeness. All hopes of trying to concentrate on the mattress slide was driven out of his mind because... BLONDE. HAIR. B.L.O.N.D.E! He closed his eyes, both trying not to get hair in his eyes and trying not to imagine how model-like the girl probably looked right now. But then she was laughing and he felt something soft slide away from his face, making him open his eyes again. What? Huh? Something was happening?

... Oh right. The mattress slide. THEY WERE GOING DOWN! ... Erm... erm... Thinking about the technique Tag had used on his own mattress slide down the slope, Alec turned to Ells, grinning. He disentangled himself from her and stood up on the mattress with some difficulty. "SURF'S UP!" Arms out on either side, knees bent, a wide grin spread across his face. This was the BEST way to mattress surf!

Fiiiiine. He could bounce all he wanted, it gave her a chance to rest for a tiiiiiiiiiiiiny moment. TINY, because the moment she saw him take the edge of the mattress Lottie immediately got up. NO, thank you. No more. Her Tag quota was filled for the day/night. Quick reflexes were coming back to her, finally.

Loud and clear. Well, yes, she'd been LOUD and CLEAR, so thank you. She gave a smile and attempted to brush her hair with her fingers. There.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! WHAT?! Did he not hear her the first time. "You can do that again, I won't." Not with him, at least. So, she laughed and started to walk away. Nope, sorry, Mr. Unicorn, we need to calm our senses, yup. He could stay here all night mattress sliding, though, which was cool. Just... not with her.

Super duper major frowning happening right here. Ella stopped the pouting and pulled up the hood of her elephant onesie instead, hiding her face and hair. There, now Alec didn't have to worry about it. And nope, she totally wasn't being a big old elephant baby about this. NO WAY. Maybe she was just cold. Maybe.

Hellooooooo. Earth to boyfriend! Ella didn't know what he was doing as she was in front of him but she did know that he wasn't helping her feel less scared and he definitely wasn't showing her his expert mattress sliding skills. Oh but then he was grinning at her and she figured it was because he wasn't, y'know, blinded by the hair anymore but she was wrong.

Suddenly he was moving which caused Ella to flop over on to her side, eyebrows raised. What in Merlin's beard? He was...surfing? And he was smiling and clearly enjoying himself which was nice but um...girlfriend barely clinging to the mattress here.

Maybe...Tag and Alec should have just gone down together. Maybe.

Cat nudged Cassia's side and grinned. C'moooon, Cassia. Let's have some fun, yes? "Want to go for a ride? Looks like fuuun." And fun was fun and that's what they'd come down here for and stuff. She sent sneaky looks over at Ella and that.. elephant thing. Just.. dunno about that. Ella was a nice girl, but Cat was going to stay over here by Alice. No offense. "Hi Ella." She did smile and greet the girl back and everything.

Oh look! A boyfriend person. Cat did more grinning. "Hello." She kissed his cheek because he could and because cheek kisses were totally fine ways of greeting and approved. "I want to race you and I also want to take a ride with you." Lots of people wanted to race with Mo too, he was a popular guy. "Will you let me win? I feel like this should be in the boyfriend handbook." Plus, just like the bounce house thing, he had the advantage.

More people were coming, not only students but Professors as well. Flamsteed and Bentely. Oh, and Lottie, too. That was interesting to watch. And she casually, watched everyone before making any move. She needed to see what she was up against. Just to make sure that no one got their neck broken or something. She cared TOO much for her own safety. She was precious, ok?

After she's seen enough from people sliding she turned her attention from the slide. Maybe she should grab a mattress. She cracked a smile at Cat. "It does look fun, let's do it." She nodded at her fellow snakette. Then Mo came along, "Hi, Mo," She greeted the captain. Did Cat and Mo want to share a mattress and race together? Cassia'd race them. She wasn't sure how this mattress sliding worked but she'd figure it out. Others were doing just fine and having lots of fun. It was nice being around people having fun and awfully excited even if she wasn't feeling particularly the same. And she kinda meant the people who were on the slide

"I'll grab a mattress," She said to no one in particular as she shuffled over to where the mattresses were stacked. She paused considering what color to choose. Hmm..Was it important. Green maybe, since Slytherin? Surprisingly she didn't care much about the color right now. She wondered if she should grab a mattress for Cat. Were they going to share one? Or Cat with Mo? She didn't know and decided to wait and see what they decided to do. Not feeling like talking, either. Considering her talking habit. But she was feeling way better than staying the dorms, thanks to Cat who brought her out.

Looking back at the blonde Captain was a big mistake because now she had her hood up and... Alec BLINKED. She wasn't upset, was she? Was that why she was hiding her face? Or... did she just feel cold? "Ells..." he mumbled, shuffling a little, "You're not... upset, are you?" Either way, he had hugs! ... Except... what had he done to upset her, anyways?

Ella Bishop had a lot of distracting techniques and it was just not fair. He took a moment to sort of stare at the girl, his mouth hanging open slightly, as if in awe. Look at the way her hair was blowing out! LOOK! So blonde... Staring was creepy, wasn't it? Eh. He would just... blame it on her, just like he had done so before. And after this whole thing was over, he was probably only going to remember how pretty she looked with her hair blowing out.

... Sigh. GIRLS.

... OOPS. Looks like he had sent her toppling off to one side. "Come on, Ells, this is FUN!" You know, standing up and pretending you were surfing down the slide. Because it WAS fun and she should get in on this, yeah? How many times was she going to be able to mattress slide down a large slide, anyways? Exactly. "Here!" He held out his hand towards her, the grin still spread across his face.

No, she wasn't mad. Had Alec ever seen his face in the mirror? How could you ever be mad at that face? You just couldn't. She was simply disappointed in the lack of kisses and so she was being a brat about it. It was hard too because being bratty wasn't exactly second nature to Ella. Was she doing this right? "Not upset," She replied quietly. "I'm just trying not to be distracting." Hence the hood, Summers. Plus it was sort of cold.

Fun? Blink. Ella sat up a little straighter and looked down the large slide, noting that they still had a ways to go. Were they gaining speed too? Meep! She looked up at Alec and bit her lip, her green eyes a bit wide. The badger wasn't exactly a risk taker but he...well he did look like he was having a blast. Taking his hand, Ella shakily stood up, back to the boyfriend. "I...I'm doing it," She squeaked, a smile playing on her lips. She wasn't letting go of his hand, either. If she went down, she was taking him with her. YUP.

Ells was trying not to be distracting. Right. "You'd probably have to wear a bag over your head to do that, though," See? He could be funny... in a lame way. Still funny, though, right? ... Wait. Pause. "Please don't wear a bag over your head," He was really very lame at this and he was secretly hoping that she didn't end up realising this anytime soon. Also, did she want hugs, then?

Alec blinked a little and tried not to stare at things like her lips or her eyes. But it was hard not to when she was biting her lip and widening her eyes like that. This was dangerous because they were sliding down a slide on a mattress and if she started distracting him again, well... someone might get injured. ... But he wasn't staring. Nope. Instead, he grinned when she took a hold of his hand, and even more so when she kept holding onto his hand.

"Yeah, you are!" Nodnod "It's not that bad, is it?" And look how happy she looked! GRIN.

Taylor shook her head, ”Nah, you are right, I don’t… the only snake I know is a seventh year girl name Ariana Logan.” Tay’s face was indifferent to that name. She didn’t really have an opinion on her… they were sort of friends and sort of enemies… She wasn’t sure. Taylor looked around and then at the mattress slide. After a while, she looked at Alexa again and smiled, ”Okay.” Tay stood up and dusted her blue pajamas off but didn’t even bother with the feathers that were still there. She gave Alexa a look to see the shrug then Taylor went off towards the slide thing.

"Excellent," Mo gave the smaller Hufflepuff a once over. His size might make him faster, but Mo thought having more weight might work in his favor at this point. He pulled a mattress from the pile and offered it to Kace before pulling another for himself.

"Let's go on the count of three. I'll even let you count off, ok?"

Girlfriend and Cassia were being distracting, but Mo grinned gamely at them both. "Don't be jealous. I'll race with you when Kace and I are done. In fact, maybe he and I will race you both." And maybe they'd win. Probably they would, because he and Kace were Quidditch players and therefore faster in general.

That was one of those scientific theories, it was. Quidditch players = faster at everything in life.

"But I feel you both should know that no matter how pretty you might be, I refuse to let you win. A man has his pride, and my reputation is at stake. Plus it wouldn't be fair to Kace, considering I'm volunteering him for stuff."

Kace saw him do the once over. He wanted to make sure he was a worthy opponent. Kace didn't blame him. He probably would have done the same thing. He smirked and shrugged. But he was ready to race. Kace had his faithful mattress at his side. It was a lean fighting machine.

He knew he would count off but he was talking to his friends so he let him for a bit. "We probably could win." he agreed with the captain. They were fit and had the quidditch skills and Kace knew how to make himself faster.

Then Kace asked him, "You ready to go?" he asked.

"On the count of three....ONE....TWO.....THREE!!!"" he said and then slid down. He was loving the air in his hair and just feeling free.

Boyfriend say what? Ella tilted her head and eyed him curiously, wondering if he was kidding. She may or may not have been fighting a smile too. And then he was clarifying that she definitely should not do what he'd suggested and she started to laugh, unable to help herself. He could be pretty funny sometimes, did he know? "You're nuts, Summers." But yeah, he could have a hug. GIRLFRIEND SQUISHES.

The blonde didn't notice the staring because she was mostly concerned with y'know, the whole standing up thing. She'd never surfed before but she imagined she'd be quite terrible at the real thing considering how much her legs were wobbling. It was a shame Super Chris wasn't here to give her pointers.

"N-no, not bad!" Ella called back, giving Alec's hand a squeeze. She actually found the whole thing pretty exhilarating, even if it was a bit scary.

But then they were coming to a stop and the seventeen year old wasn't exactly prepared for that. She sort of jolted backwards, falling into her boyfriend with a squeak. O_o

Mental note: Never ever EVER try to be funny again. Just don't.

Why? Because he wasn't funny and everytime he tried to be, he ended up sounding lamer than usual. But at least this made her laugh! Alec liked it when she laughed so... he ended up grinning, a little sheepishly but it was still a grin. Did she know that she had a nice laugh? As for her comment, he paused, not knowing whether to make a cheesy remark or... to just be normal about this. Cheesy and lame wasn't a good combination so... "Too bad you're dating a guy who's nuts?" And HUGS! GRIN! He wrapped his arms around her and hugged her back, squeezing her a little as he did so.

Was she okay? Had she been surfing before? If not... this was probably going to be really hard, yeah? And her leg was wobbling. Unless the mattress was wobbling too but it wasn't so... "Try to keep your legs steady, yeah?" Because then she'd have a better chance of staying upright and not falling over. Not... that he was mention anything about falling over. Imagine if she freaked out?

But THEN. It turned out that they were coming to a stop, which made the boy grin and stand up a little straighter. "That was--"

What it was, though, he couldn't say because before he knew it, a number of things happened very VERY quickly. A sharp bump hit him around his torso, followed by a squeak and a flurry of blonde hair. And he went toppling onto the cold, hard ground, pulling her down as well because of their still interlocked hands. "Owwww..." he groaned, squeezing his eyes shut. What had happened? Why had there been a squeak? Were they... ON THE FLOOR?!

BLINK. Pause. "Are you okay?"

"I don't mind it." The him being a nutter thing. She also didn't mind super hugs which was probably why she was smiling like an idiot right now. YUP. Luckily her hood was up and it was dark so she probably didn't look too ridiculous. The blonde squeezed back a bit before pulling away, the smile still plastered on her face. Still no kisses though?

Was Alec suddenly a surfing expert because he seemed to know an awful lot about keeping your balance. She would have used his advice too only it was sort of too little too late, yeah? And if she had realized what was about to happen she probably would have tried falling away from the boyfriend because she didn't want him hurt or anything. Only he seemed hurt and he was groaning and they were on the ground of all places. Why you no fall on the mattress, Summers?

The blonde sat up and rubbed her head, wondering how on earth she could have managed a fall like that. It took her a minute to realize that she was squishing the boyfriend yet again and so she quickly moved away, a sheepish smile on her face. "I...don't think I did that surfing thing right." Heh. ... ... "I am SO sorry." He was okay, right? RIGHT?

Was she actually agreeing with the him being nuts thing? ... Oh. Wait. She had said it in the first place. Maybe he really was nuts. Alec shook his head before grinning at her. "I'm really glad you don't," And she gave nice hugs, did she know? And he was going to try not to look at her lips this time.

Mattress surfing might have to be added onto the list of things they probably shouldn't do, in case he got squished again. Or worse, in case she got hurt. Really, this was just as bad as them trying to do homework in each other's company. He looked over at her and tilted his head, still lying on the floor. Was she okay? She was rubbing her head... so...

... Frown.

... But then she moved away and he let out a small chuckle at her words. "Erm... well... it was your first go, right?" he said, trying to reason with her, "Nobody can be perfect on their first mattress surfing slide." So don't fret, girlfriend. "I... don't... it's fine!" And he even grinned a little at her. "You're not hurt, though, are you?"

So they were going to be riding the mattress slide afterall? This was SO not what she bargained for when she went looking for Cassia. What ever happened to going to the Bounce House and acting like idiots together? It was the only reason she bothered to show up when Cassia tried that persuading thing. Lex didn't protest though. A slide would be perfect to get her mind off things so she shrugged then followed the older girl over to the slide.

"Hey, who do we ask for a push here?" A question thrown at anyone. It didn't really matter who shoved her into uncertain doom.

The young Gryffindor turned to her friend again. "And what colour should we pick?" She wouldn't protest to any colour, unless the girl said pink, then all bets would be off. Just saying.

Hmmmm no say responsible adults to help this petite newbie? Oh wells, not a problem. She has gotten used to adults not bothering with her because they thought they knew whats best for her. Kinda sad state of mind really.

She looked at Kendall as the redhead drew nearer to the HG, clearing her view of the slides and a familiar blonde came into view. “I figured you wouldn’t be able to resist this Lex...” the brunette smirked as she fell alongside her and another girl. Hmm has she seen her before? Definitely thought she may have spotted the familiar face in the common room. She glanced down the steep, curvy slope and uttered “I think I can give us a push, gravity will do that rest.” Funsies grin. “Which mattress should we—oh, how about this candy-stripe one?” she said as she tugged a rather large thing standing upright against the other stacks of mattresses “King sized at the very least, ought to be able to carry us all three yeah?”

Personally, Lex was leaning more toward the nice blue one they had leaned up against the others. Just look how much nicer than all the others it looked but then she was drawn from her shallow thoughts, not an incredibly difficult thing for someone to do. Alexa blinked over at her, about to set her straight seeing as she hadn't come for the slides and wasn't in fact in the mood for them but the next thing she knew the girl had gotten busy selecting a mattress for them. Well. Okay. No complaints here even if she would have preferred the blue one.

She gave a shrug to the idea of a king sized bed. There would be three of them so this was legit and...really...she needed to stop sulking because it clearly wasn't making anything better.

Lex glanced from Huxley to Taylor and back. They were both Ravenclaws. Were intros necessary? She shrugged internally then nodded toward Taylor. "This is my friend Taylor, she's s seventh year. You run into her before?" It'd been a month since they'd gotten there. She didn't expect the girl had gone to live under a rock so it stood to reason that she'd know people, yeah?

"And Taylor, this is my friend Huxley. You don't mind if she joins, do you?" Did she mention she was still calling her her friend? Because, you know, she totally was her friend.

Big smiles for the boyfriend. Cause hugs and he was cute and she liked him lots. Mhm.

They needed to move, yeah? They were sort of blocking the bottom of the slide and the only thing worse than falling off their mattress was falling off and then being squished by another mattress coming down the slide. Ella liked to eat pancakes but she didn't fancy being one.

No. No frowning allowed, okay? Ella quickly stopped touching her head and scooted closer, checking the boy for any signs of injury instead. He'd sort of broke her fall so she was really more worried about him, y'know. She cracked a small smile and stood up slowly at his words, dusting herself off. "I guess I need more practice then." Though considering that performance, Alec probably didn't want to go down with her again. The blonde held out her hands to him, wanting to help him up. "I'm not hurt. You broke my fall and I just hope I didn't break you."

She was really smiley, did she know? Alec grinned back before reaching over and poking her nose. "Smiley!" ... Because she needed to know, if she didn't know already.

... Oh. HEY. Were people coming down the slide? He looked up at the top of the slide where they had started off from. He couldn't see much, though, so he turned away instead. If anyone was coming down the slide, they would hear and make a mad dash for cover, right? Yeah? That sounded like a GOOD plan to him.

The boy sat up a little and turned to face her, a little surprised at the girl's words. What did that even mean?! "Erm... did you... want to practice again?" As in, mattress surf down the slide again? Really? After what had just happened? BLINK. ... He did grin, though, when she held out her hand for him. "Thanks!" he said, taking hold of her hand and pulling himself up into a standing position. Heh. Ellasaurus! "Oh! That's great that you're not hurt!" Nodnod. "Erm... no! No, I'm still strong!" GRIN. See? All okay!

Christmas was at the mattress slide and she had no idea why she had come to the event she had none of her friends with her and she was tempted to try the mattress slide but she had try and sneek up to it without being seen by any of the students who were already having so much fun there and she was wanting to try to surf down the slide but had to make sure that she wasn't seen by anyone

"Can't help it." Just like she couldn't help poking him gently on the chin. He wasn't starting a poke war right here, was he? Grin. He was also pretty smiley too which she approved of. Alec looked best when he was happy.

"I didn't mean ri-" Did he want to have another go, then? The blonde looked up at the slide thoughtfully for a moment before turning back to him. "I mean...if you wanted to then I would." But she was still a bit nervous considering she was awful at this. Maybe they could sit down or something while sliding? That might be better.

She smiled a little as he got to his feet and then leaned down to get the mattress, ready to return it to the pile unless they wanted to maybe try successfully getting down. But then he was being adorable and she had to stop what she was doing, eyes looking up at the boyfriend. "The strongest. Superman sort of has to be, doesn't he?" BEAM. "But seriously, I'm glad you're okay."

And could he maybe help her with this mattress? Tiny muscles over her.

"Well... I'm glad you're smiley!" So keep it up? And their numerous poke wars had taught him that starting a poke war would only result in his defeat so... he put up his hands, as if he was already accepting defeat.

What? She didn't mean what? What was she going to say? Alec opened his mouth to ask a question along the lines of one of these when the girl spoke again. ... Oh! She was talking about the mattress sliding, yeah? "Erm... well... it's up to you?" See, this was exactly why she wore the pants in the relationship. Although, he didn't want to force her or anything so... yeah.

GIRLFRIEND MADE A SUPERMAN REFERENCE, GIRLFRIEND SAID SUPERMAN! Cue fanboying moment.

... Ahem.

But he couldn't stop the wide grin that spread across his face when he heard what she said. "YoumentionedSuperman..." ... Wait. No. That was not a good response. "I mean... yeah, he has to be the strongest!" GRIN. "Thanks, Ells! ... And... here!" He headed over towards the other side of the mattress and, bending down, lifted it up close to chest level. There. Was that better?

After relaxing at the bonfire, Nick decided to walk around and see what the other activities that the Prefects had set up were. So far, he had seen the fire he had just been at as well as the "make your own stuffed animal" which he had quickly walked away from. Not that he disliked it, it was just more for the kids and he couldn't life with himself if he happened to be there and a certain Astronomy Professor saw him.....that would be horrible.

The mattress sliding looked interesting though, even for Nick. The Groundskeeper edged a little closer, watching a couple of students surf down the slide. Heh, this looks really fun! Should he go as well? Or not? hmmm...

First stop for the Muggle Studies Professor was ever-so-clear, before she even had the opportunity to fully embrace what else the prefects (and captains) had set up for them to partake in. Once she heard it was going to be there, she knew she had to participate in at least this activity, if nothing else. For someone who didn't fly, mattress sliding sure did seem awfully appealing to.

So she didn't waste much time at all in grabbing a mattress to heave it up to the top of the place to slide from. Well much time except for the poor groundskeeper who looked like a lost soul in a book of numbers. "For Wenlock's sake, Cantwell, do you need me to show you how to mattress slide, in addition to the proper way to wear black slippers?" Yup, we're totally talking about the fact that we noticed your similar slippers.
