| | |  Greenhouses Payment Center
 Before you can open the door to the greenhouses, a big line of multicolored turnstiles magically materializes out of thin air to effectively block your path. You cannot go around the turnstiles and using magic on them will not have the slightest effect. If you want to enter any of the greenhouses, you need to pay a flat fee of 6 sickles to get in every time you wish to come in. You insert the money in the little hole on top off one of the turnstiles. The turnstile will then unlock and will allow you to pass through and get into the greenhouses.
OOC: The turnstiles will be seen by everyone regardless of year, house, or age. You must make at least one post in here before posting elsewhere in the greenhouse threads this term. If you don't, watch your back. Note: the turnstiles are not blocking the garden, the terrace, or Professor Bentley's office. 
AND PLEASE NOTE: You CANNOT go around, under, over, etc. the turnstiles. Not only are the little bars physically blocking your path, but they also as a whole act as an invisible force field barring you from the greenhouses until you pay. Please cooperate with this portion of the plot or your posts WILL be deleted. | |

She should have been done with these things. Wasn't it bad they had to pay for the library and other places, she loved the library. And now their classes, sigh. Reaching into her pocket she pulled out a galleon that was fine, right? Depositing her money, the seventh year fixed her bag and headed for the class.

Was this some sort of joke?
Claudette knew that Hogwarts had some past financial difficulty and needed fundraisers and these fee things to help with that. And she didn't completely mind having to pay to use some of the facilities like the library or potions lab.. even if it annoyed her a bit. But to pay to attend a required class? And one that she didn't even like very much.. Isn't that what her tuition covered?
Feeling as if she had no choice, the 16 year old dug through her pockets then dropped exactly six silver coins into the slot. She knew about the paying extra thing, but guess what? She didn't plan on ever returning to the greenhouses so she wasn't about to waste her money. Oh.. scratch that.. there would probably be more lessons that she'd have to pay for. But she wasn't going to spend more than she needed. So just the exact change for now. Grumbling a bit, she pushed her way through the turnstiles, headed for class.

Each sickle Fern deposited into the turnstile was like a little stab to the heart. She could have bought a Lash Blast Potion (assuming she was 13 and allowed to wear makeup) with six sickles, and then people would say, "Why Fern, what long lashes you have!" and she would casually bat them and reply, "Yes. They're natural," and everyone would be jealous, and it would be wonderful.
But alas. Goodbye dreams.
Fern walked dejectedly through the turnstile and on to her class.

Coming up to the front of the line behind another Slytherin, Cutty Mordaunt had spotted the trend at the school, which he was now not-so-affectionately terming The Skint-stitution and tried to make it a point to carry some amount of money on his person whenever he left his common room. Thank goodness the sweet sales were looking good. He reached into his robes and shoved in the 6 sickles to pass in having learned what happens when you don't!

He could understand the Observatory payment, he begrugingly put up with the Library one but to PAY to go to class?!??! WHO HAD HEARD OF SUCH A THING?! Classes were the point of this school, he could just say he didn't come 'cause he had no money!
Glaring at the turnstiles like they were made of evil itself, he shoved his coins in and pushed through the bar, highly annoyed by this turn of events. His money was worth MORE than the Herbology turnstile. HMPF.

Caleb was NOT at all pleased with this. Paying to go to lessons? Rubbish! He was here to get an education and they were making him PAY to succeed? Ugh, this was so terrible. Grumbling to himself, he dropped his payment of sickles into the toll and made his way through the turnstile.
Yet another reason that Herbology was STUPID.

Paying to go to class? Was it overly trite to say that his MOTHER would be hearing about this? Like... as soon as class ended. Mo slammed his sickles into the turnstile and stalked through. He'd had to go ALL the way back to the dorm for money, so there better be enormous flaming palm trees that ate babies for breakfast or he was writing a letter.

Among those students who didn't carry money on them was one Alice Fischer, and there was none to be found in her dorm, either. The sixth year had to locate her best friend's stash of coins to pay for this one and, subsequent to heading all the way back to the seventh floor of the castle, grudgingly dropped the sickles into the turnstile.
After giving it a REALLY BIG KICK and possibly breaking her foot.
More whiny letters to the grandfather after this, yes? Yes.

Great, just great. She was running late the one time that she had to pay before she could even get into the greenhouses. When did this become a rule anyways? She was pretty sure that paying to go to lessons was against wizarding law or something. She quickly inserted her money and then ran to class. Hopefully she wouldn't be that late.

Olly sighed.
She had been here a few times prior to today but every time she had simply left again without paying. Because no. This wasn't fair and she didn't understand what on earth was wrong with this school anyway. They had to PAY to get into the greenhouses. Like seriously?! If she hadn't found too many reasons to stay this would definitely be a reason to leave this stupid school.
But now. Now she couldn't do any longer without going into the greenhouses.
And not only because she had signed up for this task force thing. No, also because the plants had a soothing effect on her and the common plants that could be found in the student garden just weren't enough. So with another sigh Olly moved forward and put the six sickle into the coin slot. Now finally she could get inside. | |

Vesper wanted to go to class...and apparently in order to do this, she had to pay? She glanced around and looked at others also paying. It wasn't that she minded, of course. People had told her about this before she'd even left France. Trying to persuade her not to go, more than likely.
Shrugging, she dug down into her pocket and removed a galleon. It was all she had at the moment, having just went to Hogsmeade for ink and parchment provisions. Inserting the coin into the slot, the Ravenclaw moved forward, eyes closed for some reason. There was always a fear of it not working JUST for her...and mild embarrassment. The turnstiles clicked forward along with her body, though...and she was quickly off to the lesson.

Upon coming closer them, Tessa eyed them carefully as if they were something to watch intently. You know what sucked even more than having to pay to use the library?
Having to pay to go to lessons.
Charlie 'humpht' as the pulled out her purse and counted out the six sickles required. If this had been Ancient Runes she would have skived. Okay, so she wouldn't have, but STILL. There were EMOTIONS about this. She had NO money. Or not a lot of it, at least. Sliding the money into the slot, she pushed through the turnstile with a sigh, hoping the lesson was going to be worth it.

6 sickles was totally worth it to watch Batty Bentley do her thing. It was starting to hurt him less, this having to pay for things. That was the way of the world, afterall wasn't it? Cutty gladly drew out the money, shoved it into the turnstile and went in.

Paying money to get into the greenhouses? Really? He had known about the school's financial troubles but he thought that they were solved. Evidently not. Luckily he had thought to bring money with him. If he had not, it might have been problematic considering what he had with him in the bag. He needed to get this done.
Without thinking, he popped the money into the turnstile and jogged in.
