Wade made his way towards where the first of his final year with Care of Magical Creatures class took place. He noticed the quite pretty looking Professor who stood near the board. She seemed a little anxious, so Wade gave a soft smile her way, before greeting her, "Hello, Professor.." His eyes then met the speckled bird in the large birdcage. "What a pretty bird.." He had a slightly feeling on just what that bird was, but he'll save it in case they are asked about it. Heh.

Wade did notice the mats around the benches. At first, him and his furrowed brows assumed they would be sitting on the benches and leave the mats for their feet, but the mats were too large to only be for said feet. So he plomped himself down to sit on one of the mats, getting comfy.

The first Care of Magical Creature lesson for the term! And Adi's first ever! He was totally hyped and excited for this class! He hoped that during one lesson they would be learning about Hippogriffs.

The woman standing besides the board was obviously the Professor. "Hi, Professor,'' Adi said as he approached her. And like all the other lessons he attended for the first time, he introduced himself. "I'm Aditya Rehman.''

The first year glanced at the mats and benches, figuring that the benches were obviously there to be used as desks since they'd be sitting on the mats. As he made his way to one of the mats, he glanced curiously at the bird in the cage. Was that what they'd be learning about today?

Minerva walked out on the ground until she got over to the care of magical creatures class. Looking around she noticed she was one of the first to arrive. Well that was odd, but not uncommon. She had been early most of the time to classes. Giving the new professor a smile she greeted her, "Hello Professor, welcome to Hogwarts. My name is Minerva Wheatborn." She looked at the seating arrangement. This was different mats maybe she was friends with Romanos and they would be doing yoga today.


Going over she found the first mat she came to and took a seat. Pulling out her parchment and quill to be ready when class began. Noticing the chalk board she assumed there wouldn't be any major animals today so she settled in and waited for class to begin.

Was it just here, or did they change CoMC Professor just about every year? It was like a curse or something, kinda like when no Professor could hold the DADA position for long back in the day. It was definitely something to look into, perhaps she would bring it to the attention of the Headmistress one day...one day...eventually. She'd pace herself, okay?

Getting to the class, the first thing she noticed was the mats. They were sitting on the floor now? Mmk! Noooo questions here. Lex dropped her bag to the floor then flopped down on the mat next to it. "Good day Professor!!" And she gave the woman a wide grin. "My name's Alexa." Because she was new and all, might as well before her attention shifted again...which it did in the next instant to the bird in the cage.

"Interesting bird you have there Professor."

Her kneazle would have found it interesting too...just saying.

So, Sky had read Professor Roman's rules and arrived out of uniform. And it was a good thing, too, as it looked like they would be sitting on the ground for this lesson. Sure, there were mats, but still. Anyway, she plopped down on a mat, feet stretched out in front of her and placed her bag on the bench, leaving enough room for note taking if it was needed. "Hello, professor."

And claw clip adjustment was happening now. You know, just to keep her hair out of her eyes and away from creatures.

Whatever.

Creatures smelled bad sometimes, but Kalla found them interesting so she hightailed it to the class anyway. You know... to learn and stuff. Blah.

As she passed the professor she paused briefly and gave her a nod. "Good day." She had gathered from the previous students that the prof was new. Gah. No one told Kalla good day and welcomed her to Hogwarts. Bummer.

Anyway. She walked on past then and slid onto one of the benches away from the other students who had already arrived. No thanks for interaction just yet. It was too early.

Yeahhh see West had no particular desire to get his regular clothes dirty, and didn't much care about his uniform getting dirty so in a compromise he'd worn part of his uniform, along with some old clothes for warmth. Shirt, scarf and sweater were uniform items, but he wore them with old sneakers, old jeans, and an old hoodie over top because autumn wasn't exactly the warmest time of year, even if it was only going to get colder. He'd also, as usual and prudent for the classes where you got to do fun stuff, imperviused his clothes anyways. Because that was just standard.

Oh look. Bird.

Shrug.

"Hello Professor Roman." Yes he'd bothered to learn her name. Wasn't hard, only two letters and one syllable different to one he'd been using since first year.

He eyed the mats and the benches and while he worked out their purpose, for now he decided to sit on a bench, mostly because he was tall and it was just... look, folding yourself into a small space on the ground between benches when you had all this extra length and whatnot wasn't easy or preferable. West on the ground there would be all knees and elbows. For someone so skinny he really took up a lot of space these days. So he'd just wait until he was told he had to.

Yay! A lesson with no uniform, good thing she had read the rules she would have hated to show up to class as the only one in their uniform. Nerida greeted Professor Roman as she arrived, "Hello Professor Roman! I am Nerida Eventide, wonderful to have you here." there she had welcomed the new Professor. After doing so she plopped down onto one of the free mats.

First Care of Magical Creatures Lesson, eveeeeeeeeeeeeer.

This was going to be SO exciting and it was in non-uniform, so she could wear whatever she liked. She didn't know whether that meant that she was going to get dirty or not, so she'd chosen to wear slightly older clothes. Smart, huh? In her scruffy trainers, warm hoodie and jeans, she headed off to the class.

She went in grinning and looked around to see who was already there. Charley, Adi and Minnie were the only people she knew and she gave them an ever BIGGER grin, before going and greeting the professor. "Hellooooo, Professor Roman! I'm Bristol and I'm very, veryyy excited about this class!" She almost walked away, but noticed a pretty bird in a cage. "Oh! Professor, that's a really handsome looking bird you've got there!"

Flashing one last grin at Professor, she went over and took a seat on a mat, noting the branch that looked as if it was going to be a desk for them. It looked desk height.

Sarah came into class.. There was a new teacher now, and Sarah wondered how this lesson would be like. They should really keep bios of all the teachers, as Sarah knew nothing about Professor French's background, and knowing that she could have known what to expect.

"Welcome to Hogwarts" she greeted the new professor. "My name is Sarah Edwards". Sarah did not even notice the mats until she had already sat down on the benches. She put her satchel beside her and placed he textbook on her lap.

Care of Magical Creatures. They had a new professor in this class, right? No more Professor Barlow. That was sad. Kat was actually starting to like her because she was a Slytherin at heart. Wherever Professor Barlow went, Kat hoped that one day she'd come back to Hogwarts. I mean... the salary wasn't THAT low here in Hogwarts, wasn't it? What was the deal of Professors leaving after like... one or two terms? Sad, really, but Kat didn't mind it if they decided to rest. Teaching a couple of students, good and bad ones, was a lot of hard work. Screw it, Kat wouldn't be able to survive that.

"Hi Professor. Welcome to Hogwarts," the Slytherin greeted the older woman and smiled. Because she needed to be polite and, since she was a new Professor, Hogwarts had to show these people the best that they've got. Then she went to take a seat... on a mat. Kat hoped they weren't going to do YOGA even if this wasn't a Defense Against the Dark Arts class.

Sophie made her way to the first CoMC lesson of the term with a smile on her face and her wand out, because no time to waste, riiiiiiiight??? RIGHT! So she had been casting a few Charms here and there on her way to the place where the lesson would be held.

"Hello!" The Hufflepuff greeted the older witch with a warm smile and a wave with her free hand. She put her wand away as she looked around and went to find herself a seat.

Care of Magical Creatures.

This had been Ella's favorite class in the past but with changes in Professors and craziness at the school, it had sort of lost its sparkle, y'know? The blonde just hoped that this new professor would help make it great again. Mostly because this was the one thing she was really contemplating doing after Hogwarts.

"Hello Professor! Welcome." Big smile for the woman and then Ella's gaze fell on the bird cage and it widened even more. She tilted her head and observed the bird inside for a moment or two before deciding she could hold her questions until the class officially started.

Finding a mat by Sophie, the blonde flopped down and nudged her best friend gently. "Care of magical creaturessss." BEAM. Was Soph excited too? WAS SHE?

Finally! Her favorite lesson. The one she truly enjoyed. Not that she didn't enjoy the others but it was relative and differed from lesson to another. Also, there was a new professor, for the third year in a row. Hopefully, this one would be as cool as the previous two. Here's to hoping.

Cassia's been meaning to drop by and visit the winged-horse since forever but thanks to lessons and homework, she still didn't get the time to go and ask for permission. Surely she wasn't going to just watch from afar. Might as well ride, yeah?

Outdoors lessons were the best so the slytherin made sure she headed to the lesson a bit early. The journey would be nice. As she got closer to where the lesson was set, she noticed others have already arrived. Oh and there were benches and mats. And more importantly a BIRD. Eeep. Exciting.

"Good day, Professor," She greeted the woman before plopping down on one of the mats NEAR the bird. She wanted to have a good view all the time.

The first thing that Hannah spotted upon walking into the paddock area was a bird. Ok, so the lesson wouldn't be that bad right? She could handle birds. The second thing she noticed was that there was a new professor. Was is just her or did this professor seem a tad nervous? Pity, you should never show weakness!

She walked around to see if she saw any familiar faces. There were a few, but none that she felt like going out of her way to greet or anything. "Hello professor!" She had the urge to say BOO! but figured that wouldn't be a good idea and all.

So school had started out pretty much smooth sailing, but now that all the classes were getting underway, Sophie was starting to feel the pressure. She felt like she got up every morning, got ready for the day, ate breakfast, and then ran non-stop all day long. Add in the fact that she stayed up pretty late doing homework, and she was exhausted.

She showed up to Care of Magical Creatures, though, trying not to show the exhaustion at all. She eyed the bird, eyed all the mats, and then looked at the professor. "Hello, Professor," she said. Sophie didn't know the woman was brand new. She was a firstie, so pretty much everybody was new to her. She took a seat on a mat then sat waiting for whatever to happen.

Care of Magical Creatures! Now here was a class Adrienne was actually looking forward to. Plus, the professor was pretty cool (and kept candy in her office/hut). So she walked in with a pleased smirk on her face and gave Roman an nod and a "Hello again, Professor!" (and that exclamation point actually wasn't exaggerated, she really did sound excited).

There wasn't anyone here that she particularly liked, so she sat on one of the benches on her own, watching the small bird do its bird-y things.

Nigel sort of missed the last Professor and the nifflers. Finding treasure is always fun. Plus she was a little hotter than this new one. "Hello, Professor" Nigel was not grasping the concept of why there were mats and benches. So Nigel picked the one that would be more comfortable to him. A mat and use the benches as a desk. Simple enough.

Now what creature would be present today?

Creatures! Creatures! Creatures! DKHFGSDHSJF

Abbi had been waiting and waiting for this day to arrive. She was always fond of animals and had a good feeling that she would be just as fond of magical ones too. Mind you more fond of the magical ones, think of the fairies she might get to learn about one day in these lessons. Ahhh. This was the fairy-witch-lion life.

BEAM!

Little feet practically running this time, Miss Campbell made her way to the ComC classroom. She entered and walked up to the Professor. "GOOD Morning Professor!" The 'Good' was loud, but Abbi felt it was more than needed. "Preeeeeetyy bird." She looked ahead to the side of the chalkboard. But enough of chitter chatter, she needed a seat.

With a plonk, Abbi sat down on a mat and waited for the lesson to begin.

Care of Magical Creatures! And he was here... in the nick of time, it seemed.

It was hard, actually, because even though he had made sure to give himself enough time to get ready, he had still ended up spending a little longer than usual on his hair. Not that anyone needed to know that. Nope. Not at all! He did try and hurry down towards the stables, though, because this was the first lesson of the year! And did he want to be late? No.

Benches! And... were those mats? BLINK. This... wasn't some sort of Defence lesson, right? Romanos wasn't here, yeah? His eyes flew up towards the Professor and he smiled. "Hello Professor!" WAVE! She didn't seem bad, so far. Especially since, you know, they didn't have to wear uniforms! He did try to look smart, though, but... jeans. You couldn't resist those. "Erm... cool bird!" Because he had noticed that too. It was hard not to, actually.

Moving forward, the Hufflepuff headed over to sit on a mat by Adi and Curly Wade. Because... hair. Alec had hair stuff to tell the dude later and... Adi was cool. Definitely. He set his bag down next to him and grinned at the two of them. This was going to be interesting, yeah? Interesting and... comfortable.

And so it began. Melanie tried not to stare as she watched the first students approaching her class, but didn't know where else she was supposed to look. She smoothed out her blouse until they came within speaking distance and she heard their greetings.

"Hello," she nodded, "Thank you."

Aditya. Roman smiled at the young child, trying to permanently connect name to face. "Nice to meet you, Aditya."

Melanie recognized this one already as Miss Wheatborn. An older student, most likely rebelling with seniority, but definitely some sort of troublemaker. Perhaps just with the professors she was already comfortable around, Roman hoped. It was nice to learn her first name, though. "Thank you, Minerva."

This was an excited student. It was just brilliant, seeing the students so excited before class had even begun. It didn't lessen her nerves, though, for Melanie was beginning to wonder if her lessons would disappoint. Still, she grinned back at the girl, "Nice to meet you, Alexa."

"Thank you." Just don't get too attached to the bird.

"Hello," Roman greeted.

"Good day to you, too," she nodded.

"Hello," she greeted. Roman wasn't too bothered about the young man sitting on the bench. Their seating arrangement wasn't too important, really, but she'll mention how she wants them to sit when she begins class. For now, he can stretch those long legs to his heart's content.

This young lady seemed awfully excited as well. Roman smiled at her, "Wonderful to have you in class, Nerida."

"Good day, Bristol. I'm very excited about this class, as well." Melanie was truly extra excited about this lesson. They would hopefully be experiencing a once in a lifetime opportunity that even Professor Roman herself had yet to witness.

"Thank you."

"Thank you, Sarah," Roman smiled.

"Hello." Another smile.

"Good day," she greeted.

"Thank you. Welcome to class," Melanie smiled widely back at the blonde.

"Good day," Roman nodded to the girl.

"Hello."

Professor Roman smiled at another very young lady, "Hello."

Another familiar face came around the paddock. "Good to see you again, Adrienne," Roman smiled.

"Hello," she smiled and nodded.

Another quite young girl, also very excited. "Good morning to you, too," Roman smiled. "Thank you."

After a glance to her watch, Professor Roman looked up to see what appeared to be the last student entering the area. "Hello and thank you," she smiled.

And now they were going to go ahead and begin. Melanie crossed in front of the chalkboard and cleared her throat, "Welcome to Care of Magical Creatures!" she addressed the class, "As some of you remember, my name is Professor Roman. Given the nature of today's lesson, I have no safety procedures to go over with you. However, I'd like you all to sit on the mats provided and use the benches as a desk. Not only because a hard surface will make it easier to take notes, but you should all be at the same level so those behind you will be able to see the board." She paused to allow those students who had taken seats on benches get comfortable ont he ground.

"Now, I've gone through notes left by your former professors of what creatures you have been taught over the past few years, so I hope my lessons won't be repetitive for you older students. Today's, for example, should be very interesting and exciting.

However, I want to refresh your memories and teach the younger students on the sort of background knowledge needed to understand creatures.

In Care of Magical Creatures, we, quite obviously stated, study creatures, which are also classified as 'beasts'. To start the lesson, I'd like you to raise your hands, and tell what is the definition of a 'beast'. Begin your answer with your name, please, so I can learn them," she smiled. As she waited for them to do so, she wrote on the board.

Oh, they were starting! Ella sat up a bit straighter and made sure she had fresh parchment and her quill ready and waiting on the bench. She read on creatures for fun so she wasn't too worried about note taking but still, it never hurt to take stuff down. Helped you to remember things and all. Mhm.

The fact that they'd be learning new things made Ella grin because that's precisely what she'd been hoping for. She was more excited now. Much more. As for the question that was asked, the blonde raised her hand.

"Professor, a beast is a magical creature who can't understand and abide by the laws of the wizarding world although some creatures are exceptions." Mhm. The ones who didn't like the others in their determined category or whatever. Eh. Rivalries could be silly sometimes. So could labels.

OOPSIE! Awkward moment. Sarah mumbled a sorry before getting down on the mat. So uncomfortable, but at least she go to sit how she liked. She listened as the teacher spoke and decorated her book.
A being, "a Beast is a magical creature that does not have sufficient intelligence to understand the laws of the magical community nor bear part of the responsibility in shaping those laws." Sarah said. "that is according to minister of magic Grogan Stump in 1811. A being is one of three catergories... Sarah decided to stop there, it owuld be unfair to take all the limelight. Even though it was not her fault that her mother was into general knowledge games

Alec nodded at the woman, as if to say something along the lines of 'anytime' or 'you're welcome'. Also, given the nature of today's lesson? Did that mean it was all going to be based on theory? Discussions, note-taking, all of that? ... Who knows.

Beasts, though. That's what the question was about. Alec paused, his eyebrows furrowing slightly at the question. Not because he didn't understand the question but because... well... how was he going to put this into words? That was hard to do, sometimes. Put his thoughts into words. It was caused him to pause and 'erm' his way through conversations, sometimes. Sometimes.

... Heh. Smart girlfriend was smart. The boy grinned at her answer before putting his hand up as well. He could add to this, yeah? "Erm... I'm Alec Summers. And... some creatures are considered to be beasts because of their brutal nature." ... It was true, yeah? They did happen with some creatures like... like Acromantulas. Yeah. Nodnod.

... This was still answering the question, right?
