Yourselves kind of? Adelaide was really curious to see where that one was going.

And then Botros mentioned what they were doing. All right. This was the best. Sure Flamsteed let them fly and gave them candy, but fighting with suits of armor in class? Yeah that sat just a little higher in her book.

She listened to everything Botros was saying, keeping a good mental note. Thankfully, she had known most of the spells the professor had put on the board. That would definitely make things easier for her. On cue, she cleared her things quickly, just in time as it seems because the suits moved everything else.

Once that was done, Addi looked over at Head Girl Kat who was calling them to prepare for battle. She giggled as she joined Cassia and Kat. She grabbed her wand and began to mimic the other girls. "Intaglio Algiz Algiz Algiz..." The more runes the better. The more likely they were to win.

The Professor was saying no...but you know what? His eyes were saying YES. Well actually it was more like 'dear sweet merlin I don't wanna say yes, look how eager she is, she might break something' but if you put that all together you get a YESSSSS!! The grin on her face got wider. The Gryffindor was finding it harder to contain her enthusiasm.

HOLY KNEAZLE!!! BATTLLEEEEEE?!?!???

bvdjkbgkfdiudrgtfiregtiwre!!!!!!!!

Alexa hopped out of her seat once she was permitted and packed away all her things just like she was asked to. Did anyone hear the Professor say older students had the priority to carve??? She looked around. Being a fourth year she was older than three different years of students MAKING HER OLDER, OKAY????? Just in case, she tried not to make eye contact with Alice who might play the 'older than YOU' and 'Captain' card. She was CARVING!

Lex made her way to the Suit with the Gryffindor mascot on it and drew her wand almost immediately. She got this, she so did. "Intaglio Algiz Algiz Algiz....Intaglio Algiz Algiz Algiz!" Others could carve too, just know she was older. Ahem. Yes. Battle soooooon??? Fight Fight Fight!! "Come on Gryffindors! We're gonna own this things!"

Partially true.. Much better than not at all. Wade smiled satisfied before listening to their next set of instructions. So they will be carving runes onto the suit of armours themselves before testing spells out on them. This was cool. A battle about to take place before them, as Wade beamed at his housemates. He packed his stuff into his bag before furrowing his brows on what they should do. Well, Alec had a good idea on them possibly all doing it together.. and look at Ella, already eager to get started, Heh. Their suit of armour was going to be fantastic with the brilliant people they already have.

"Alright Badgers, like your Captain Ella suggested, let's get to carving if you feel you can do it." But Wade wasn't forgetting the ones who didn't know right away as he smiled encouragingly. "If you can't right now.. Don't worry, just pay close attention on how we do it and then you can give it a try. We'll help you out." He then raised his fist close before repeating what he had grown to love hearing from others, "Badger Boom!".. Oh Wade.

"Alright, ready guys? Let's do this." Wade then fixed his eyes on their suit of armour before firmly gripping his wand against it fully concentrated, "Intaglio Algiz.. Algiz.. Algiz.. Algiz.. Algiz.." There was no time for glancing as he worked on keeping his carving steady.

Post 2: Carving!

When her Prefect actually, verbally, invited Tora to join in the carving party, she jumped to the occasion. Moving around to the front of the armor where there was room for more runes, she moved the tip of her wand to the chest plate of the armor. "Intaglio! Algiz Algiz AlgizAlgizAlgizAlgizAlgizAlgizAlgizAlgizAlgiz" she said concentrating with all her might. Channel inner protection! She retraced the rune she drew muttering the same spell again. Maybe that would make it stronger.

She moved onto the spear and drew a rune there too. "Intaglio......Algiz, Algiz, Algiz, Algiz, Algiz" she drew three more runes, one on his forehead, one on his arm and one on his heel before stepping away from carving. Best give someone else a turn. She went to stand behind the armor and awaited the Activity. This was certainly an interesting year as far as activities went! First the House Battle of the Wax Wings in Astronomy, and now this! She knew Ravenclaw would win this time!

Post 1.. Bladgers

For once Minerva was very happy she wasn't on the side that the door was on. She loved her front row seat, but she loved the side away from the door even more. Holding her parchment down as things were being vibrated off the desks she watched the armor coming in. Well this was different and it seemed fun. as long as she could get the right runes.

Listening to the instructions Minerva made her way over to the little group of badgers that had already formed. Hearing Ella and then Wade she smiled. They knew what they were doing great. "I agree. Let's just work together and this will be awesome." Hello it was a battle they were about to watch and participate in.. How awesome is was that.

"Let's get carving." She laughed as Wade said Badger Boom and started on her rune. "Intaglio Algiz.. Algiz.. Algiz.. Algiz.. Algiz.."

It wasn't everyday that they got to see and FIGHT the suits of armors. Though, she'd rather be on the same page as them. No one knew when Hogwarts got itself in a war and needed backup. Could happen anytime, Cassia was always prepared. not really.

As instructed, she shoved everything into her bag before anything got knocked of or snatched or smashed! She had that rule about not wasting time or energy on lost causes. But that sounds harsh and heartless when said out loud so she was just going to think of it and appreciate that all her stuff made it safely into the bag before she slid out of her seat and tossed her bag away. Will get to it later, for now it was fighting time! Weeheee!

Automatically, the fifth-year got closer to her head girl/snake!sister/friend, KAT! T'sup soldier! She nodded at the older girl then drew out her wand and stood by her side facing the armor that had the snake mascot on its sword or whatever that was. You could see the excitement visible in her brown eyes. Fun. This was fun and interesting. And safe, which was very essential. Cassia pointed her wand at it preparing to join in the carving. "Intaglio Algiz...Algiz .." Oh look it was working. Pfft. Of course it was, she'd carved runes SO many times so far. Piece of cake. Speaking of cake, what do the winners get?! Hmmm....

Sophie frowned. So her big job of the day was to...WATCH?

Well, at least the next part would be way more cool. That is, if she could get the spells right. Was it just her, or did the professors think first years should come to school with a wealth of knowledge already stored away in the minds? Well, only time would tell...

Okay, so she needed an older kid to watch.

Looking around, she spotted an older Slytherin girl beginning the spell. Feeling somewhat odd just standing there staring at her, Sophie paused and watched as the spell unfolded. Oh, look at that--it worked, and there was Algiz. Too bad Sophie couldn't have done that herself, but...maybe one day.

Please take your things and go sit by your Prefect." He looked over at the Ravenclaw prefect, "Mr. Barrington, I expect you to make sure the kid pays attention for the rest of class." Mhmm. His first duty in here, have fun.

Adrienne raised her eyebrows to the extreme. Overreaction much? She'd done what she was told, and she's just done some doodling after. Seriously, it was just a bit of doodling, no harm done. It's not like she hadn't written down absolutely everything he'd said before that. It wasn't like her Algiz wasn't pretty much perfect (and certainly better than some peoples'). But she didn't want to get points off, so though she grumbled to herself as she closed her ink and took her parchment back, gathered up her quill and bag and took them to sit next to Barrington, she didn't actually say anything to the professor. She also didn't deign his question about her doodle with a response. Unnecessarily nosy, annoying teacher. Ergh.

With a final bang to the floor, the four suits stood still facing the students and holding on to their spears, one of the them moved the spear way too wildly and bumping into a bunch of students in the process, and knocking their things off their tables. Oops.

Standing still now before the old man de-animate them all.

Whoa! Armour! Adrienne almost forgot all about her annoyance with Botros, because man, that was cool. He was a little bit forgiven, because the armour was cool. But only a little bit. And thank goodness she wasn't in the way of that spear, because then she would have to pick up all of her stuff again...

"Second, each house will get their own Suit of Armour. I want you to carve the Algiz rune on their armour with a very clear and strong intent. The older students have the priority to carve, the younger ones can watch, specially if they're not familiar with the Intaglio spell."

"After carving enough runes on them, I'm going to reanimate them for you. Their main purpose will be to protect their house mates from the other Suits, so while they do their job, you can use one of the spells on the blackboard to attack or keep the other houses' suits away. At the end of the activity we'll see whose Suit of Armour had the least damage." Botros grinned and walked around his desk and sat down on his chair.

"If there's any question, shoot it my way. I'm here. Controlling the suits." And whatever gone-wrong spells. "Look at the spears of each suit of armour and see that instead of the sharp... thing on its tip, there's the mascot of each house, that's how you'll know which armour is yours." Okay. Done. Now... move...

...although it seemed like she needed to anyway. Sighing, Adrienne put everything in her bag, except of course her wand, shoved that under her desk, and joined the queue of excited students crowding around the Ravenclaw armour. She didn't much care if she got a chance to carve a rune on there, actually, but she did want to win, and she figured that more runes equals more protection equals more points to her House. So Adrienne muttered, "Intah-lio," a couple of times under her breath as she waited, trying to get it just how Professor Botros said it earlier.

Merlin, why were there so many people? She was having trouble just being there with all the students crowding around her, let alone actually getting to the armour to help. She kept a tight grip on her wand, because dropping it with all of these people around could be disastrous.

Suits of Armour 09-29-2013 06:33 PM

Ah okay, now this was ticklish. *clankclankclank* The Suits of Armour moved slowly to give the soldiers kids an easy access to their armour;

The suit with the Eagle mascot had some glowing runes on it already.

The Badger's suit was glowing along with its runes, already soaking up the magic of Algiz.

The Snake's suit had a bunch of glowing unfinished runes as well.

The lion's had the clumsy suit that knocked some objects off desks earlier, it clanked for an extra moment before taking its position on the floor too. The runes the first loud soldier kid was carving were glowing the most in the room.

Juuuust a few more and one of them would be ready & then BATTLE! *CLANK*

Wade was a really good head boy, did he know? Of course they'd help the younger badgers! Ella grinned and nodded along to what he was saying, kicking herself for having sounded like they shouldn't do it unless they knew how. It was important to try, y'know? So important. Encouraging smiles all around. And Badger boom? BEAM! Did Tobias hear that one? Hehehe. "Stealing the kiddo's catch phrases now?" Nudge for Wade. Nuuuudge.

More rune carving was happening and more badgers were here now too. This was good. OH! And the suit of armor, it was GLOWING! EEEEP! Ella stepped back and admired it for a minute or two before looking around at her housemates. Did they see? It was working! It looked so nice and glow-y too. N'aww. Couldn't hurt to add a few more though, right? Right.

Adrienne managed to make her way through the horde of people and up to just the foot of the Ravenclaws' suit of armour, which she was vaguely wary of. At least they didn't have the clumsy one! That went to the Lions, sucks for them. She pointed her wand at the foot of the armour and cast the spell, focusing on protection and the bird-foot looking rune.

"Intaglio Algiz... Algiz... Algiz... Algiz... Algiz...," Okay, this was taking a lot longer than Adrienne had expected. There was a faint sign of the rune, but it wasn't really there yet. She tried to think more about protection, more about guarding, but instead her mind kept jumping to mental images of herself being accidentally kicked in the face by this thing. Deep breath. "Algiz... Algiz... Algiz..." There! That seemed good enough, right?

Alec's hair started doing that funny, waving thing it usually did whenever his fellow hair ruffler was nearby. At first, he hadn't known what this was about but now? Now, all he had to do was look around until his eyes landed on the taller, curlier-haired Puff. And he grinned. HEY CURLY WADE. And Minnie! HELLO.

And HA! Badger boom! Where was Tobias?

... Except... everyone was carving! And look! The runes were actually glowing! Man oh man, how good was this team at carving runes? Answer: VERY. But this did raise quite a few questions, too. Like could they stop now? Or did they need more runes to be carved into the suits? Also, was tin foil really effective in making your hair smoother?

It seemed as though Ella thought so -- about carving more runes -- since she was continuing. Shrugging, the boy took out his wand and edged closer. Every rune counted, right? Plus, after last year, this wasn't entirely difficult. Not at all! "Intaglio Algiz... Algiz... Algiz... Algiz..." Carve, carve, carve...

Alec and Ella! also Wade & Min! "Hey, guys!'' Adi called happily. He was rather excited for this activity. The only bad thing was he wasn't sure about how the carving should be done. He knew they had to start off with Intaglio but was that all? No funny wand movement or anything?

He nodded as Ella spoke. "I want to try,'' Adi told her. "I know I can manage it!'' He was confident and determined. He paid careful attention as she began her carving. Was that all to it? He could manage that! The eleven year old stepped up beside the Quidditch Captain. "Intaglio Algiz...Algiz...Algiz...'' he chanted as he traced out the rune.

Now that they were getting into the actual activity of the class Tag got up and packed away his stuff then tossed it over to the wall- just in case. Getting to work Tag got out his wand and held it at his hand, pointing at the Suit of Armour he spotted first.

Looking around for a few minutes Tag started to overhear what all his other classmates were doing and he quickly caught onto the task at hand. "Intaglio Algiz. Intaglio Algiz. Intaglio Algiz." Now that was starting to seem and sound familiar. Hopefully it would carve in? Yes. If not some of his house mates could help out.

Kace saw the professor showing him that they weren't harmless. He felt better now and gave him a reassuring nod. "Thanks for that.." he said meekly.

Then he stood up and watched the suits or armor go in a line and was ready to be carved. He went to the other badgers to see what needed to be done.

Kace was first sitting in the back watching all the older students attempting the carving. It actually didn't look too bad. He was confident he could do it now. He saw Wade, Ella, Alec and even little Adi do it. Kace was watching long enough and even the suit or armor was glowing with the rune being carved.

He held out his wand and said the incantation, "Intaglio Algiz... Algiz... Algiz... Algiz..." and it was beginning to carve! Yay! He was doing it! Just like last time he did something like this. He began to concentrate. The more he concentrated the better his rune appeared.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

Glowing! MOOOAR Glowing!!!!!! Lex noted that their suit was glowing brightest and it got her ESPECIALLY pumped. Everyone was free to come carve. Why didn't they? She could make room, honest! In fact, Lex skip!hopped to the back of the suit and thought to add some ruins here for ALL AROUND cover!! THEY WERE GONNA WIN or at least not come last because well...beaten by a puffer in a battle...that in itself was a scandal.

"Italio Algiz Algiz Algiz! Itaglio Algiz Algiz Algiz!!"

More and more runes were appearing on the amoured soldier. By now she was so focused on it that she stopped paying attention to everyone around her....She may also have been trying to find a way into the suit while she carved but SHHHH, nobody tell the Professor!

The guy still didn't look protected enough. More carving? Yes? OKAY!!

"Itaglio Algiz Algiz Algiz!"

And when would they start aiming at each other?? Or was it...aiming at the suits of armour? Either would work for her...she guessed.

Wade smiled a little wide. Was it due to the little ruffling his own hair senses had been doing, especially after his eyes had been on Alec's momentarily? Or that he was not surprised by the reference in his little chant. "I'm sure Tinkertobes wouldn't mind. It sounds so awesome.. right?" His eyes searched for Tobi. Badger Boom was going to be a legendary term thanks to him.

Wade had been carefully carving, still "Intaglio Algiz... Algiz... Algiz... Algiz... Algiz..." Now would you look at that glowing, he could practically feel the energy you know? But he didn't stop until it was finished. Phew.

Afterward, he took the time watch the others, especially Adi and Kace as he stepped closer to where everyone was at. His hair ruffled a little more as he passed by Alec. "That's it you guys, keep going!" Not wanting to just watch, he took his wand to carve another one with them.

Post 2- Tag's gonna work with Lex for now

Going over to where Lex stood in front of a Suit of Armour Tag gave her a small nod. Could he use this rune on himself? In case Lex wanted to have another go at him? Maybe he should ask Professor after class. Though, he thought, that, if this were possible, it would hurt incredibly bad and probably cut out his skin. So, maybe not.

"Hey Lex! Can I help?" He asked, though he gave her no choice to answer because the boy was already moving to the backside of the Suit of Armour and pointing his wand at it. "Intaglio Algiz! Intaglio Algiz! Intaglio Algiz! Intaglio Algiz!" Tag said the last one for extra measure. He usually only used three. With him and Lex working on this suit of armour it'd be more stronger protected.

Sophie had just begun to grow bored with the process of watching all the older kids have fun, when the suits of armour began clanking around once again. She watched with wide eyes, wondering if now was the time to start defending the Slytherin suit.

Apparently not, though, because most of the runes looked unfinished, which probably wouldn't provide much protection at all. Why did the suits need the runes anyway? Weren't they supposed to be made of awesome all by themselves? She wondered this as her gaze turned to yet another kid, this one a lot older than her and from a different house. She watched him carve the runes into his own house's suit. She really wished she'd known this spell ahead of time. She blamed the subject. Ancient Runes was for geniuses.

Blink. It was shoving now. How. Very. RUDE.

OHAI TAG!

Lex glanced up from the carving and saw that Tag had come to give her some reinforcement with the back. Good to see he wasn't sore about the punches. She wasn't sorry about them, he deserved them, but things seemed like they were normal now so there was no reason for her to act out of the ordinary, which meant grinning her response...the only thing she got to do before he got right to it.

Taking the initiative, she could live with that!

Not wanting to waste quality time that could have been used for preparing for battle, she got straight back to the carving--which was going along nicely if she did say so herself.

"Intaglio Algiz Algiz Algiz!"

Ah, glowing runes on a suit of armour. The only thing more beautiful at the moment was a bag of chocolate frogs. Outside of that, nothing could compare to the first signs of battle.

"Intaglio Algiz Algiz Algiz....Intaglio Algiz Algiz Algiz!"

Nerida managed to make her up to a part of the Ravenclaw's suit of armour, the hand mostly. Hopefully it wouldn't lift up it hand or something and smack her in the face... Though it would be funny, she had to admit that much. She pointed her wand at the hand of the armour and cast the spell, focusing on protection and the bird-foot looking thing..Rune.

"Intaglio Algiz... Algiz... Algiz... Algiz... Algiz...,"

It was taking long.... There was a faint sign of the rune, but it wasn't really there yet. She tried to focus more on protection but instead her mind kept on imagining the thing slapping her in the face. It was possible the Lion's was clumsy so maybe the Eagles one would love slapping people... Taking a deep breath she pointed her wand at the hand and repeated, "Intaglio Algiz... Algiz... Algiz..." There! She had done it this time right?

Well West could do that. No sweat in fact. And he supposed he counted as an older student now too which was.... different. An adjustment. But hey, everyone knew he knew what he was doing when it came to this Runes stuff yes? He hadn't unpacked anything so West simply moved his bag out of the way, and took his wand over to the nearest suit of armour with a Slytherin pennant in place of its spear head.

Where to carve? After much thought West decided a good sized Algiz on the armour's breastplate would be a good place to start, being the biggest surface and likely the part that'd block the most hits for Slytherin too. He pointed his wand and began carving the shape of the Rune, tracing it quite large in the centre of its chest.

"Intaglio Algiz Algiz Algiz Algiz Algiz Algiz Algiz Algiz Algiz Algiz Algiz Algiz...." He continued repeating Algiz over and over as he traced its shape, going back over the arms to reach the middle so that he'd not have to stop carving, since carving it all in one would imbue it with more power than in three.

As soon as he was done he started on another one. Left shoulder this time.

Still carefully carving hoping she was doing it correctly, but not wanting to look like she was unsure Minerva tried her best Intaglio Algiz... Algiz... Algiz... Algiz... Algiz... She listened to the small conversation going on around her.

"Intaglio Algiz... Algiz... Algiz... Algiz... Algiz..."

She continued to carve, but looked up at the others and gave a big smile, "You are all doing a fantastic job, keep it up." They were amazing badgers, but look who was leading them. Wade and Ella were great leaders. Min knew they could be a great group when those two were around.

Looking back at her own carving she continued to work.

Oh yeah! The Hufflepuffs were totally going to cream all of the other teams because they were the best house with the best students. And then, after they had won, Fern was going to rub their victory in Cuthbert and Benzi's (and maybe Tora's) faces the whole rest of the school year. Maybe even next year too. But by then she'd probably have newer examples of Hufflepuff superiority to use, and she'd want to keep things fresh.

The trick was going to be rubbing it in when Tallulah wasn't around, because Fern wouldn't want her cousin to feel bad.

But now she needed to get her head in the game. After watching carefully as Minnie carved some runes into their suit of armor, Fern decided she understood the concept good enough to give it a try. Professor Botros had said first years could just watch IF they weren't familiar enough with the carving, and Fern felt she had a pretty decent grasp of the concept. After all, the professor had also said earlier that she had done a very good job. Plus Adi was doing it, and he was a first year too.

"Intaglio Algiz... Algiz... Algiz... Algiz...," Fern said carefully, concentrating hard on protection and strength and rainbow bridges as she carved a rune on a part of the armor. She stopped perhaps a little bit early, but she was worried she was going to carve straight through. Squinting at her work, the Hufflepuff wondered if Wade would think she had done a good job. Then she asked the others, "Does our armor have a name?" Because names were important.

AHA! Would you look at that?! Tag was doing excellent in class today. The Suit of Armour started to glow. That was supposed to be happening yeah? Now Lex continued on her side of the armour, Tag simply smiling at her, pointed his wand at the things metallic legs. "Intaglio Algiz. Intaglio Algiz. Intaglio Algiz. Algiz, Algiz." Did he always have to say Intaglio beforehand? Well, he said it at least three times.

"Hey Lex, we should try carving the Suit of Armour all around. Yeah? So, it's protected from most sides and everything." It would last longer and would not get damaged as fast if they tried to carve into it from all sides. He went around and started on the opposite leg, "Intaglio Algiz, Intaglio Algiz, Intaglio Algiz."
