See this was why Botros had the best lessons. West perked up a bit and eyed the armour and then stuck his hand up. "Are we going to make them dent-proof so that they're better able to protect and defend?" As in magically. With Algiz.

lazykitty 09-28-2013 11:36 PM

Okay, that one suit of armor was a little too eager to join class. Which meant that Sky was flinching as it walked by her. Luckily, it didn't hit her and she managed to grab her things before they were knocked off her desk.

Now they had to guess why they were there. Well, given the fact that they had just been talking about the carving spell..... "Maybe we're going to be carving Algiz into them?" As an extra form of protection for the castle?

emjay 09-28-2013 11:48 PM

Claudette was feeling a little lost. She supposed there was a good reason Ancient Runes was not her best subject. She wasn't really into that Norse Mythology stuff touched on at the beginning of class and even her old school hadn't seemed to be as this in-depth into the subject. But she dutifully copied down notes and practiced drawing Algiz as instructed.

And then she looked up, wide-eyed at the door as several suits of armor began marching into the room. She was thankful she wasn't sitting near the door.. the cumbersome things made such a disturbance. And no.. she did not know why they'd be in class today, and she looked around at some of the other students as they gave their answers. She hoped it the correct answer was more the protecting school like most were giving rather than have to protect themselves.

Kimothy 09-29-2013 12:05 AM

Kat was still practicing her oh-so-awesome drawing skills on her parchment. She was still drawing her pretty Algiz rune, with lots of effort at that, when she heard clanking. Clanking. Clank clank clank. And rattling too. What was that...? It made her raise her head a bit and looked at Professor Botros. Oh, so they were getting visited by moving metal.

AND THEN THE DOOR OPENED. Merlin's beard.

Suits of Armour. Weren't they from the Great Hall? Well, outside the Great Hall. That space between the Great Hall and the Courtyard, you know. Piertotum Locomotor was the spell for that, as they learned it during Transfiguration class last term. She remembered it. Kat had to admit, that was pretty interesting. Grand but unfriendly entrance, they got there. Oh, how rude. And they were knocking things off their tables and... yeah, it knocked her quill and parchment down but Kat luckily saved her inkwell from falling down. MENTAL FLAIL. Eyes for you, suits of armour. That wasn't nice.

"Maybe try protecting ourselves with Algiz because they're knocking things out of our tables?" It was a possible answer. And honestly, they should watch the HAIR.

Kace felt the head pat from the professor. He appreciated him knowing that he was working hard. He smiled cutely underneath the head pat and continued to work. Then he heard the professor about to move on and then when the door opened he heard very hard steel footsteps.

Kace was getting nervous. Then he saw them come through the door. Erhh....

O______O

He just stood there. BLINK. BLINK. BLINK. BLINK. and mouth hanging open. What were they going to do with those statues of armor. He had NO idea. He just stood there trying not to catch their eye. Maybe they could help with the spell but all the other student's answers seemed logical enough for him.

Sonea 09-29-2013 12:28 AM

The third year old smiled when the professor told her that her drawing was good and wanted to draw more of the rune when… something happened. Professor Botros said them that they would have a guest but, WOW! What was happening now! The Suits of Armour were in this classroom! She had NEVER seen them while they were moving, so this was really strange to see! Eh… She didn’t liked it so much that they were so… She shook her head and was relieved that she was sitting on a safe distance from them.

She looked at the professor and frowned. Was he asking THEM why the suits or Armour where here? That was a question she wanted to ask HIM! Hmm, but she could guess right? So she raised her hand and spoke. “I think that they are here because they are charmed with a rune to make them alive and to protect the school in danger.” And after she had spoke she looked back at the drawing before her. She hoped that her answer wasn’t stupid but she had heard a story about the time when Hogwarts had been attacked and the suits had been trying to fight and to protect the school.

FearlessLeader19 09-29-2013 01:14 AM

Adi grinned sheepishly at Professor Botros. Man, how was he supposed to remember all this stuff? So much information! Anyway, he scribbled down his notes as the the Professor spoke. Intaglio! That was it! He scrawled this in huge block letters, determined not to forget it.

Just the....what was all that ruckus? Adi stared around. It was drawing closer. He looked in surprise and shock when the suits of armor marched into the room. Say whaaaaa? Why were those things here?

Adi raised his hand. "Maybe they're here to learn about Algiz,'' he suggested.

amadshade 09-29-2013 01:18 AM

Well most of the other students had already said the first thing that came into Tora's mind. So she decided to come up with something else, but first a question. "Professor, if you put the armor in the shape of an Algiz, does that make their ability to protect stronger?" and now her idea. "Are we going to carve Algiz into things and then see if the suits of armor can break through our protection? Or maybe we'll have two teams and half the people Aligiz-ify things for protection against the suits of armor and the other half does something else, like carving Hagalaz- that means destruction right?- into the suits of armor and seeing which side is stronger or wins or something." Whew! She kind of let that idea get away from her there, but she still came up grinning. It sounded like a fun game to Tora. Then again, she did make it up.

OH MY MERLIN, PROFESSOR, IT'S A NUNDU!!!

Sophie instantly became alert and had thoughts of pushing some random Gryffindor toward the door, so he or she could fight off whatever this was while the rest of them took cover. She didn't, though, of course. She stared wide-eyed at the door before realizing that it was just four suits of armour clanging their way into the room.

Oh.

WHY?!

...because you invited them here, Sophie wanted to reply.

Instead, she raised her hand and said, "...because they protect us and shield us just like Algiz does." She wasn't exactly sure how this related to the class itself, though. "Are we going to carve runes into their armour?"

Cassirin 09-29-2013 04:12 AM

Mo did trace a few Algiz runes on his parchment, although he was way more interested in anticipating what was yet to come. Who were the guests? Were they really guests, or would it be some sort of wild animal? Or a yeti!?

He drew another Algiz and peeked across the room at West, who was being awfully subdued for Runes. Maybe if they could do partner time, Mo would move across the room and try to partner with his best mate. That seemed like a good plan.

And then the room filled with suits of armor, one of which knocked Mo's parchment, quill, and wand on the floor. He scrambled to get back into his seat without losing an eye. What exactly were those suits going to do here? Hmmm? Mo ducked again, even as he raised his hand. "Professor, I figure either we're going to fight WITH them or AGAINST them. I vote against them. Maybe keep them from advancing with Algiz."

DaniDiNardo 09-29-2013 04:22 AM

She KNEW it!

Something really WAS coming through that door. Pity they didn't go about with a grand entrance of sorts. Breaking things, leaving a good strong memory with them for years to come but if she was being realistic...people were bound to remember a couple suits of armour marching into the class. She'd remember.

Alexa wanted to slip inside one. A part of her wondered if it would still be enchanted and move if she was on the inside and in that case WOULD SHE MOVE NORMALLY OR WOULD IT BE EXTRA HARD??

She had to think of the perfectly moment to slip inside and try this...but for now, her hand shot up. "I dunno why they're here Professor but I hope Mo's right and we actually get to take these guys!" She was already sizing them up believe it or not. The one infront looked like his metal was extra thick...the one in the middle wasn't that bad....the framework wasn't as beefy, she could SO take him.

Her curiously excited gaze fell on the Professor as she tried everything to remain quietly in her seat. They were doing this. They HAD to.

Charely Potter 09-29-2013 06:22 AM

Whilst practicing his drawing, later on Wade could sense Professor Botros' presence near him before he looked up. Wade smiled back at the approving nod and smile he got with his efforts. It sure felt nice, knowing he was doing well in the class.

Afterward when he had scribbled enough times, he looked up to hear that their guests were arriving and.. whoa there. Wade's brows furrowed as he blinked at the suits of armour arriving in.. and the little clashing led some of his notes to fly off the desk. Meh. Wade momentarily took the little time to get his stuff back onto his desk just in time for the question.

Hmm.. why are they needed here? Wade furrowed his brows over this. They were needed at the school for protection, overall. Now that they were arriving in here, perhaps the suits needed some.. help? ..No that can't be. Professor Botros did say they were going to help demonstrate on what the Algiz rune really means..Hm.

So that's what got Wade raising his hand to suggest, "I think they're here to be our targets.. So that we could to carve our Algiz runes against the Suits of Armors to help demonstrate its true strength." If that made any sense. It sounded right to him.

Lockhartian 09-29-2013 06:29 AM

we're distracted, sorry. >.<

Nod, nod. Algiz. Got it.

There was no way she could forget Intaglio, by the way, since she got to carve the wrong rune on that plank of wood, remember? We'll never forget.

Once she was finished with her notes, though, she started to draw Algiz at the end, you know, for practice and whatnot. Except that didn't last long because... guests? What sort of guests? So as long as they weren't Board of Governors people she was okay with that. Unless it was Ivy Knox.

But she heard that. Everyone did, actually, the suits of armor were loud. They did an awful lot of noise while walking. Or just moving. Or whatever. Either way, Lottie smiled. Check out Botros' friends. Those were ancient. Botros wasn't. Was this just so he could feel young?

Mo and Lex's suggestion got a laugh out of her. Fighting. So much fighting already, wasn't there? They were going to be carving runes for sure, otherwise the spell wouldn't have been brought up. So, why where the suits of armor here? She didn't know. Nothing other than the comparison between Heimdallr and their duty to the school in case of danger. Protection, ever-watchful, safety.

Her mind was elsewhere, however. Alec's question... she'll wait on the Professor's input, but they could use both, yeah? Runic magic could work alongside other kinds, basically.

Botros chuckled, and wanted to ask the kid how exactly did he think they could use a rune against someone without Gandrs. Unless he meant carving the rune on a piece of wood and then.. using it as a shield. Oh. Hmm.

Obviously they could protect the castle, seeing as they were moving about this very moment, when Tag thought they were only stationary. Though, if they were going to protect Hogwarts could they be more careful with their spears?

How they connected to the Algiz rune, Tag couldn't put his finger on that. Suits of Armours couldn't possibly interpret runes. Could they carve onto the Suits? Tag highly doubted that option.

"Yes, precisely. Thank you, Mr. Kidlare. The suits of armous are the castle's Heimdallr. We're going to play with them and see how the Algiz rune work." He grinned at the rest of the class excitedly.

Yeah, okay, this was... a really stupid question. But what was he going to do? Ask it anyways. His curiosity was practically poking him to do so. "Professor? Does this mean..." Pause. "Does this mean... that the rune... can be used alongside Piertotum Locomotor?" It was a legit question but... hair!ruffle. Why was he ask so many questions, again?

Botros nodded at the Hufflepuff's question, "The spell animates the Suits of Armour, offers them the ability to move and react to their surroundings. It doesn't contradict with what Algiz is used for." It enhances the effect sometimes!

They needed bigger room, Botros knew that, but danger was good with Algiz drawn and carved everywhere. It made the rune more valuable and usable.

Aww, was the little Huffelpuff scared? Botros approached the closest Suit of Armour and leaned a bit on it to show him that they were completely harmless... unless they started to move... and someone made them attack something or someone else, but they had Algiz in class! No worries, really.

All the guesses were very amusing and Botros smiled widely at everyone who hazard a guess. "All your guesses are valid, even if extreme sometimes." Eyeing the Gryffindor bouncing on her seat.

"First, I want you all to pack your things. We're not going to move the chairs or the tables, they're going to do it for us." There will be some destruction going on, yes. ooc: - this activity has the major amount of points in this lesson; in order to get full credit, you need to post at least five times starting from this post of mine.
- RP your character carving some Algiz runes on the armour first.
- The suits will start fighting in about 12 hrs, and then you can RP your character attacking the other houses' suits.
- ALSO, do not RP for the suits of armour, they're here, they're moving, they'll react to you all as soon as possible.
- The house leaders should be aware that they're responsible to keep their housemates in check, and try to lead them when fighting the suits of armour commences, if necessary.
- I'll be here all the time, if you have a question or a concern you can PM/IM/Tweet me or just ask the professor.

Suits of Armour 09-29-2013 01:51 PM

Moving again!

The four suits of armour moved in unison, their clanking was loud and still rattled the small things on the old man's desk, they bent down and started pushing the chairs and the tables to the side of the room creating an empty area in the middle.

Clank clank clank clank!

Each suit took a spot in the middle and assumed the at-the-ready position.

Carve away, soldiers kids!

Enhance the defense mechanism and let's bring the enemy down! *clankclankclank*

Battle?
Battle!!

There was going to be a big battle!

Asher took notes quickly then packed up his things. He wasn't exactly sure what he was supposed to be doing, but he hoped one of his house prefects or other older student would direct him. He had his wand out and waited for someone to tell him where to start.

Honestly, Botros was old... but his classes never failed to enjoy Kat. Really interesting activities were always part of his classes and they were always amusing and got Kat moving because not only were they awarded house points for attending a class, but also they got to have fun. So that was kudos to Professor Botros. The Head Girl will surely miss all of this activities after she graduates... but let's not think about that YET. She still had a few more months and she was going to make the most out of them.

Wait? BATTLE. HOW COOL WAS THAT. Okay, Kat was so game for this. Oh Merlin. All those inter-house competitions were FUN and there was no way the Slytherin inside her would be tamed unless she joined in and won.

Okay but first, Prefect duties right? Yeah. "Hey Slytherins! Let's... prepare for battle." Didn't that sound FUN? They should start planning on stuff, you know. Because teamwork and all. It would be a lot of help if they all contributed. Plus Kat wasn't bad in Ancient Runes, by the way, so it was totally fine. A bit more of carving on their armours and on her armour, then she was ready to lead her Snakes (alongside her other Slytherin leaders) into attacking other houses.

And of course, she was glancing at them too. Maybe making a battle strategy? YEAH? Kat had something in mind. Anyway, carving. "Intaglio Algiz Algiz Algiz..." Kat said as she traced an Algiz rune one top of Slytherin's armour. And see? It was easy. The others should start carving them too because the more runes, the more effect.

Welp. Suits of armors! Really?! This man longed for all the wars he's witnessed throughout his long life or something? Just a thought. Because that excited her! It wasn't everyday that they got to see and FIGHT the suits of armors. Though, she'd rather be on the same page as them. No one knew when Hogwarts got itself in a war and needed backup. Could happen anytime, Cassia was always prepared. not really.

As instructed, she shoved everything into her bag before anything got knocked of or snatched or smashed! She had that rule about not wasting time or energy on lost causes. But that sounds harsh and heartless when said out loud so she was just going to think of it and appreciate that all her stuff made it safely into the bag before she slid out of her seat and tossed her bag away. Will get to it later, for now it was fighting time! Weeheee!

Automatically, the fifth-year got closer to her head girl/snake!sister/friend, KAT! T'sup soldier! She nodded at the older girl then drew out her wand and stood by her side facing the armor that had the snake mascot on its sword or whatever that was. You could see the excitement visible in her brown eyes. Fun. This was fun and interesting. And safe, which was very essential. Cassia pointed her wand at it preparing to join in the carving. "Intaglio Algiz...Algiz .." Oh look it was working. Pfft. Of course it was, she'd carved runes SO many times so far. Piece of cake. Speaking of cake, what do the winners get?! Hmmm....

Post 1- Mention of Asher

Ohhh! Awesome! Another activity involving the Houses against each other! He doubted he was going to be much help. He was only a first year and those spells looked mighty complicated but he'd try anyway. For his beloved Hufflepuff House.

Adi followed Asher and stood next to him, awaiting instructions from Min & Wade.

Nicola was really trying to fight the urge to pat herself on the back at this point! Not only was she really loving this class, she was also really enjoying Professor Botros as well, for awarding her two extra points for her answer! Ugh, was there NO end to her brilliance?!

Before she knew it the lesson had continued on, where they all practiced carving the Algiz Rune onto the parchment, which she had done as well. Now the next thing the redhead knew was, Professor Botros had the students collect their things and move away from their desks as the suits of armor began pushing the desks out of their way. Her attention was drawn back on the Professor as he began telling them that they would be having..A BATTLE?! Really now? Nicola raised an eyebrow smiling as he told them what they'd be doing, which would be carving the different runes onto the House Specific suits of armor & attacking the other Houses' suits to see which would get the least amount of damage.

Ideas were already whizzing through her head for different strategies that the Ravenclaws could use for their armor. She studied each different spell that the Professor had written onto the blackboard that the students could use against the other suits of armor. Nicola walked over towards the armor, with the Raven on it, assuming this was the armor for her house. She then lifted her wand almost without hesitation as she spoke clearly, "Intaglio Algiz..Algiz...Algiz..Algiz.." Nicola smiled as she had successfully managed to do this, not surprised though. She lowered her wand once the runes had appeared on the armor, then looking around the room waiting for other people from her House to join in. Then once they had also done this, they could possibly discuss a strategic way to win this challenge against the other Houses & therefore make Professor Botros proud!

... Oh? So his answer hadn't been that weird or silly? This made the boy feel quite a bit better and he nodded at Botros, as a way of saying that he understood what the man had been saying. He bent his head and made a small note of the new pieces of information about the rune and the statues before looking up a--

...

BATTLE? Did he just say that there was going to be a BATTLE?!

The boy's eyes widened as he looked from the Ancient Runes professor to the statues. One for each house... And they had to try and defeat the other house's statues. Sort of. Man oh man, that sounded intense! The list of spells on the board, which Alec had turned his attention towards, did look useful. Were they only allowed to use those spells, then? And if they had to try and stand behind the statues, the firsties and secondies would have to be guarded, right? Unless they wanted to fight too...

... Alec shook his head and packed away his things, trying not to look at the statues or the spears they were holding. It was a good thing too because it seemed as though the suits of armours took almost no time to clear away the chairs and desks. BLINK. the seventeen year old got up and headed over towards Asher and Adi, grinning and waving at them as he went. Right. Okay. How many older people were present in this class?

"Hey guys! Erm... so who's going to carve the rune? Or... should we all do it together...?" he asked, to no one in particular. His eyes wandered over to their suit of armour. That was allowed, right? The teamwork in the carving process?

Coolest. Lesson. Ever.

Like...could Botros see the elation on Ella's face because captain badger was EXCITED. Because she got to work on a suit of armor with her housemates and then they got to watch a battle while battling and OHMYGOSH. This was just really, really cool and a nice way to see how Algiz worked. Thumbs WAY up, Botros. Seriously.

After picking her things up off the floor and shoving them into her bag, the blonde shuffled out of the way so that the suits could move the furniture. *_* They were so strong! LIKE wow. And the more she watched, the more she appreciated them, y'know? They weren't as scary as she'd found them when she was a first year. Nope.

And then it was time to carve and Ella wandered over to the suit of armor that Hufflepuff would be using, a big grin on her face. HAIIII BADGERS! "I think anyone who is confident in their carving should help," The blonde said cheerfully, standing beside her boyfriend. "We'll need to really concentrate though, yeah? We want these runes to be extra strong." So their suit of armor could be the best.

Walking up to the suit of armor with her wand and a nervous smile, the blonde got ready to carve. She even closed her eyes for a minute to concentrate on all the Algiz represented, thinking this would help. Then she pressed her wand to the armor and said clearly, "Intaglio Algiz... Algiz... Algiz...Algiz!" And she traced the shape as cleanly as she could, trying very hard not to think of anything beside that, the rune.

Post 1: Watching, and being impatient

Tora beamed at the Professor when he complimented her idea. "Sure thing Professor!" she laughed a response before he moved onto the next student.

---

As only a second year, Tora let the older kids go first. Just because they went first didn't mean that she wouldn't get a front row seat to watch however, and she pushed her way forward so she could see. "Intaglio, Intaglio, Intaglio," she whispered to herself while watching an older student carve Algiz into the Ravenclaw suit of armor. She figured it would be a good time to practice.

But Tora was always more action than practice. She wanted to try! She knew that she could do it, it was only three straight lines after all. Hadn't she just practiced the simple design of the rune to perfection? Well, now was a great time to put it to use! If only those older students would hurry up and get out of the wayyyyyyyy!

Of Course, Nigel would watch and make sure the small Ravenclaw was on track. It was part of the job description for the badge he was wearing. But it seemed like she was not track and doing good. So now to pay attention to the awesome suits of armor that entered the room. Botros did not seem to surprised. So Nigel guessed they were part of the lesson.

Nigel packed his things like instructed and listened. Ah. So carving runes into armor sounded cool. Wait house battle, also and House Leaders were kind of in charge. Sigh. Alright Prefect Duties. Nigel walked over to the Ravenclaw Armor and saw some Claws have already started carving. "Alright Ravenclaws. Anyone who has confidence in carving can help if they want" You don't have to help if you don't want to.

Nigel thought this was a good start. "Intaglio Algiz..Algiz...Algiz..Algiz!"

Let's be real. Ascanius had totally slept through the first part of this lesson......inconspicuously of course. Everything that the old guy had been rambling on about, he missed. S'not like he did it on purp....yeah, he did. Look at all of the caring he had on his face. Wait, there just wasn't any.

Although, it seemed that he had woken up to a particularly interesting part of the lesson...if the old guy could be interesting. They were doing something with suits of armour. A battle. A competition. Smirk.

He went right to work and starting to carve the rune into the back of the armour. C'mon Slytherin, yeah? S'like do this.

His wand touched the back of the armour and he started to mutter, "Intaglio Algiz...Algiz...Algiz....Algiz..." His hands carefully made the shape. Had to be right.
