Nerida wrote the notes as they appeared always good to have them to study for NEWTS... Scribble....Scribble... And then they were talking about the carving spell and hearing the spell already being said she felt no need to say the spell when it had already been said so with that the blonde picked up her quill and began to draw over and over...and over. Guests? What kind of guests were they having? Draw. Scribble. Draw. Scribble. Draw. After like a hundred tries she finally drew it right! |

And.. Miss Abbi Campi. Witch Eater? Really? Alice made bitey motions at the first year with her teeth. NOT in front of the professor, little one. After attempting to scare the eleven year old into silence, she tugged out a fresh sheet of parchment and began scribbling little Algiz runes on it. Algiz. Algiiiiz. Guests? Hm. Interesting. Algiz was more interesting, though. It looked like a chicken foot. Her classwork was doodling bird legs. |
Though Wade felt content with his suggested rune for Heimdallr, he was quite surprised at being contradicted. His brows rose a little as he well, never expected it. Even though she had misunderstood part of what he said about Naudhiz, he was still impressed though by the Slytherin first year girl's vocabulary. She must definitely have a interest in the subject as well.. He didn't believe Heimdallr had excessive needs, just knew he felt needed by the people, so to speak. He smiled back at the first year, before opening his mouth about to explain that... when Professor Botros already beat him to it.. and explained his meaning much better. Heh. Wade smiled back at the Professor nodding in thanks. So the proper rune for Heimdallr is Algiz, though Wade was fine knowing Naudhiz could partially be as well. Just not as much as Algiz already is. He didn't hesitate on jotting down the stuff already in his books for his notes. Sure, books had the answers, but with notes they required less page flipping and eye scanning to find the right answer. Now for the incantation, Wade raised his hand, "Intaglio is the incantation. You're met to hold the wand firmly against the surface, concentrating on nothing but the carving until it's finished." He knew his memory wouldn't forget that, especially after hearing Ella say it too. He blinked about the guests part. That sounded interesting, whoever they were. Shrugging, he got to practicing on drawing the funny upside broomstick shape. *Scribble, scribble, scratch, scratch* |
Did he know the spell? Yes, did he participate in classes? Very little. It wasn't hat he found the class boring, he just didn't think he needed to participate that much. Coasting -or the illusion of- was good enough for him, although he didn't coast since he retained almost everything he learned and even things he didn't want to know. Sometimes the overload was too much. Now with the expectations of extras -he assumed there were some magical creatures on the horizon since Hogwarts professors enjoyed sticking strange things in their students hands and heads- Jacques' lip twitch slightly. Instead of displaying his discomfort however, he drew his rune. |
Algiz. Alright then. Kat wrote that down on her parchment, as well as the facts about the rune. English letter equivalent was Z. Yeah, she learnt that before so it was no problem remembering that... but she wrote it down anyway just in case she needed notes to study for the end of the term. NEWTs was just as pressuring as OWLs were in her fifth year, but only harder. She'd have to remember her lessons back in her sixth year then, and hopefully they didn't all slip off her mind. Whatever, still useful for studying and stuff. More notes blahblah. Oh, the spell. Kat remembered that from last term. She raised her hand. "What they said. It's Intaglio, professor." Since they had the wand movement checked too, she didn't want to repeat the answer because she already repeated the Intaglio answer. Yep. |
little bit of West too Adelaide smiled back at West. Had she stared for too long? She was just thourghly shocked by the poetry thing. Not many people their age new those sorts of things. Anyways, back to the lesson. She made a note of what Botros was saying...and the fact that she was probably going to really need to read through her Runes textbook because obviously a lot of people in here knew a heck of a lot more about Runes than she did. She didn't need to know the most at things, she just didn't like being left behind. She quickly scribbled down all of the information on Algiz on her parchment. Sure it was in her book, but handwriting it would help her remember it better when it came to exam time. Carving spell? Never done that either. Yep. She was definitely behind. Everyone seemed to be saying Intaglio and Addi vaguely remembered seeing that in one of her books somewhere. Drawing she could do. And guests? What kind of guests? Was that a normal thing? Adelaide looked around the room as no one seemed to really question it. Oh well. She'd find out soon enough. She began to draw the Rune, trying to get it as perfect as possible. After about five or six sketches, she had what she thought was perfect. "How's this professor?" She said holding up her parchment for him to see. |
Benzi Rider officially had no idea what anyone here was talking about. He had huffed when the Professor had said the Norse Gods had no plumbing, but remembered his promise to Mummy and kept his mouth shut. He had promised her that he would at least TRY to not purposefully lose points. Talking back might lose him points. Meh. He needed to save the point losing to something far better than talking back to this really old Ancient Runes professor. He was ancient himself. BWAHA. Probably when the professor was born, Ancient Runes were just Runes. GIGGLE!SNORT. Flipping over pages in his book, Benzi really did try to get his head into this runes thing. But then that drawing of a bird's foot came along, and people were calling it Algiz and he was again left flabbergasted at how other first years knew this. Grabbing his quill, he dipped it in his inkwell and began to draw the shape of the rune, over and over. It really wasn't very complicated. Meh. Glancing in his textbook, he found the description of Algiz and read it, not really seeing the point of copying the professor's description on the board. Hey! He needed this rune to spell his name. Cool. Sort of. But why does it have two colours in the description? Glancing at the other runes, Benzi saw that they had two colours too. "Professor why do the runes have two colours, one in brackets?" . . . It was ok to ask an off-topic question right? |
Fern's face had been growing redder and redder throughout class. She didn't know any of these answers, and it was embarrassing. Tonight she would start reading that textbook and make flashcards. But for now she would remain ashamed and take as many notes as possible. Lips pursed in concentration as she drew the Algiz, Fern quickly filled up one sheet of parchment and flipped it over to start on the other side. Every few seconds though, she glanced at the door, because she wanted to be the first to see these surprise guests! |
He was doing his best to write all the notes and scribble down the picture of the rune before the next task was presented. After waiting a few moments, and searching his mind for the correct answer, Asher finally landed on Intaglio. Just as he was about to answer, several other students shouted it out. No need for him to answer what had already been said. Instead, he once again practiced drawing Algiz and went over how to preform Intaglio, so he would be ready. |
Well it was a guess. Nigel thought the rune meat gods. Odin was a god so partially right. But yeah. Mostly wrong. And now was the carving portion of the class. Craving runes was pretty fun. Especially in the maze like last year. Really guests. Well that is interesting. Nigel wondered who these guests where. Nigel did not feel the need to raise his hand as say Intaglio. Drawing sounded better now. Algiz. It kind looked like one of Nigel's awesome stick figures or a plane upside down. |
Algiz, look at that, she was right. But of course she was. She'd been scanning through the text and had actually taken the time to read it some time ago. She beamed at the Professor when he told her she was correct. He was kinda far away at the moment though so she wouldn't expect any shoulder pats...this time. See how selfless she could be? While others were mentioning the spell and wand movement, she busied herself practising the drawing like the Professor asked. No need to repeat what everyone else was repeating, yeah? After awhile though...it got boring so she stopped--GUEST??? they were having guests??? Lex looked to the door without giving it much thought. That's where any guests would come from, yeah? Or maybe they'd come through the wall??? WOULD THEY??? AND BREAK THINGS?? The Professor probably wouldn't be very happy about that but merlin was the idea exciting. What if they blew through the wall?? Her parchment was now long forgotten. She wanted to see something fall apart please. |
Hmm, she didn’t had answered ANYTHING during this lesson and eh… would the professor think that she was lazy or just stupid because she didn’t had done ANYTHING besides making notes? Hmm, she didn’t hoped it because she wasn’t lazy END she wasn’t stupid either, but this lesson was just so… difficult! She wanted to be the best in everything, she wanted to be the top student from Slytherin, but… she wasn’t… So when the professor spoke again and gave them the time to make a few notes she did it immediately! She NEEDED her notes if she wanted to get a good grade for this lesson! Haha, and this time she KNEW the next answer, she knew what the indication from the spell was, but before she could give the right answer, another student had already spoke, and because the others were giving the same answer as she had wanted to give she lowered her hand and didn’t wanted to speak again, she didn’t wanted to repeat what the others were saying! With a irritated look in her eyes she started to practice the drawing, just as the professor had said them to do. She made this: SPOILER!!: drawing |
Sophie didn't know the incantation for the carving spell. She didn't really like Ancient Runes, and therefore hadn't really read anything about it before coming to school. Add in the fact that her mother hated the subject, too, and that amounted to this class being Sophie's very first experience with runes. So instead, she took out her color changing quill. She set to work doing a rainbow drawing of six different Algiz shapes. If she couldn't give the incantation to carve the shapes, then she could at least do a really pretty drawing. ...and so were the thoughts of an eleven-year-old girl. |
So it WAS Algiz! And he got an 'excellent thinking'? Really? The boy grinned at Botros before grinning over at... oh HEY girlfriend! Beaming girlfriend! GRIN. Was it okay that he was proud of himself? Yeah? Okay. Still grinning -- because why not? -- he took hold of his quill and started scribbling down some notes about this particular rune. Scribble... scribble... scribble... ... There. Okay. His eyes flicked up towards the board again and he tilted his head. It didn't look like it was a hard rune to draw, Algiz, but sometimes, drawing was hard. Especially for a slight perfectionist like himself. He looked down at his parchment and frowned slightly. A Y with a line down the middle from the top too. Or a footprint of some sort. That was an easy way to remember this. And... there was no need to mention what the spell and wand movement was, yeah? Because smart people were smart and he wasn't going to repeat the answers. The seventeen year old bent his head and started working on the rune, practising the drawing just like Botros had told them to. Over and over the rune was drawn on until... ... THERE. He was done. GRIN. |
Why was her head always swimming in this class.. Like always a swimming mess of confusion. She heard it, she studied it, but it just never ever made that much sense to her. At least with Mr. Accent it was some what fun to listen to, [s]rest his plant eaten soul [/s, but this she was struggling. It wasn't that she didn't like Botros he was a super sweet man she just never got that point of the Runes stuff. It was just different. Now they were making.. what? She remembered the spell yes.. yes they had done it how many terms now. About to put her hand up she realized she was a little behind and everyone had theirs up already. Well it seemed she had become quiet in many classes this term. Oh well at least she some what knew what she was doing. line.. line.. scratch that.. no that's not right.. Scribble.. scribble.. She looked at her parchment and back up at at the board. Yes that will do. It works at least. |
Text Cut: Professor Eeeh. Okay. So her answer wasn't correct for the reasons the professor just said. The man did look muscular to her. Well, not like Thor but he wasn't bad, good for him, he should keep it up, whatever he was doing. Or wait...he was probably dead now. Moving on! Finally something she remembered! Excitedly her arm shot up in the air as she spoke. "The carving spell is intaglio. We say the rune's name which we want to carve, after Intaglio until it's carved," She carved all the runes last year! She know! And now they had to draw? This lesson was becoming interesting. The fifth-year flipped to a blank page and reached for a quill. She stared a bit at the rune then started working on her parchment slowly and carefully. It might have taken her a while but she was finally done. She sat back upon putting down her quill on top of her drawing and waited. And did he say guests? |
Text Cut: Ella Miss Bishop was on a roll today, wasn't she? The professor didn't miss that she'd been the first to answer most of the questions, and correctly too. "That's correct. Intaglio, Intah-lio." He pronounced slowly for the new and the younger students. "And you point your wand at the surface where you want the rune to be carved, focusing very hard on its energy, and the value it represents." Pause. Text Cut: Tobias Botros nodded at the little boy with a hint of pride, he knew that Mr. Tempus had the ability to carve Algiz as well as any older student. Text Cut: Hannah Aah. "No, dear. Intaglio is the correct spell. It's the spell to use if you want to carve runes and preserve their magical energy and value. You know it works well when the rune glow." He smiled and patted her shoulder as he passed by her desk. Text Cut: Adi Aw, the boy was working hard as it is. Botros smiled at him, expecting him to had written what he explained. Quote:
Ab passed by Odessa's desk and patted his shoulder on his way. The boy was quiet and not his rune!enthusiast self. Did puberty do this or was it something else? Text Cut: Sky "Correct, good." The girl was one of the good students who followed his flow of thoughts easily, it was expected that she knew what he was talking about. Text Cut: Tora Botros reached the next girl's desk and peered over her shoulder at her work. "Aaah. Very good, dear. Well done." Patpatpat. Shoulder pats were his signature. Text Cut: Kace And a hair pat for the little Hufflepuff who never failed to amuse them with his spontaneity. Text Cut: Tag Botros was proud of the blonde lion for doing remarkably better in his class today. He patted his arm as he passed by his desk and made sure he was drawing Algiz correctly. Text Cut: Adrienne ..... oh. He was pretty sure there were more things than Algiz on this girl's parchment. Text Cut: Nerida This Ravenclaw seemed to be paying enough attention, good good. Botros smiled at her as he inspected her work and moved to another desk. Text Cut: Alice He patted the shoulder of the 'witch eater' as he passed by and gave her a do-not-eat-anyone-today look. Text Cut: Wade Botros didn't really need to check the Head Boy's work but he still gave him a proud approving nod and a smile as he passed his desk. One of the best students. Text Cut: Jacque Botros didn't notice the boy's discomfort, but looked over at his work and patted his shoulder. "Good job, good." And moved on to the next desk. Text Cut: Kat The Head Girl got a smile and a nod from him as well as he passed her desk and made sure her Algiz looked well and not crooked. Text Cut: Adelaide Botros made sure to keep his cane out of the way of students' legs as he moved to the Slytherin girl's desk. "Aaaah. It is perfect. Make sure to draw the three short lines meeting at one point with the longer vertical one." It was important for the carving later. "Good job, dear." He gave her the parchment back. Text Cut: Benzi Well. That was a weird question, but a legit one. Botros came closer to look at the boy's work so far. "It's from two different sources. And sometimes we take our purpose of using the rune in consideration when choosing which color it represents." He smiiiiled at the boy, expecting him to understand what he just said. It was simple! Text Cut: Fern Botros reached the young Hufflepuff's desk and leaned a bit to see her work. He patted her head gently, "Very good job, keep going." Patpatpat before he moved on to the next desk. Text Cut: Asher Botros smiled proudly at one of the proteges in his class. "Good job so far." He encouraged the boy and walked on. Text Cut: Nigel "Make sure the little Ravenclaw is on track with us." He reminded the Prefect. She didn't look troublesome, just had a short attention span, so it shouldn't be a problem. "Good job on those Algiz shapes, too." Text Cut: Alexa Botros smiled calmly at Cambridge's work and patted her arm, "Well done." He noticed her eager glances up at the door and chuckled. The guests thing made them more excited than he thought it would. Text Cut: Sonea Botros looked at Duvessa's work and nodded in approval, "Very good job." He meant it, too. She was doing her best and it was enough. Text Cut: Sophie Oooh, colors. Botros smiled at the young girl's job as he passed by her desk and patted her arm, "Good job." Text Cut: Alec (Kita) And the grinning Hufflepuff boy was grinning. Botros gave him a wide smile and checked his work quickly, expecting it to be as good as always. "Very good job, Mr. Summers." Patting his shoulder and on to the next desk. Text Cut: Minnie Botros nodded at the Hufflepuff prefect's parchment, "That's good, well done. Make sure the long lower line is straight." With a smile he walked on. Text Cut: Cassia Oooh, more color. Slytherin girls liked colorful drawing it seemed. He smiled at her and nodded, "Very good job." This was enough for class checking-up, right? His knees were starting to ache anyways, and so he inched between the desks toward the dais to lean on his big desk. |
Clank. Clank. Clank. Clank. The door burst open and four clanking suits marched into the room, the noise coarsing through the stony floor and rattling everything in the process. With a final bang to the floor, the four suits stood still facing the students and holding on to their spears, one of the them moved the spear way too wildly and bumping into a bunch of students in the process, and knocking their things off their tables. Oops. Standing still now before the old man de-animate them all. |
Oh dear merlin, the suits were dangerous! They were knocking students' things off their desks! That was so dangerous in his book, okay?! After some worried glances at the kids, Botros cleared his throat, "Take a guess, and tell me; why do we have some of Hogwarts' Suits of Armour here in class?" |
Huh. Two different sources. Okay. Sort of. He beamed back at the old Professor because it would be rude to not smile when he was smiling so nicely at him, but once he'd passed Benzi began doodling on his parchment. This lesson wasn't very interesting. . . . OKAY NEVER MIND. Benzi STARED at the suits of armour as they stood still facing them, sort of glad he'd picked a back seat so his stuff went untouched. That.. had been a loud entrance. A VERY loud entrance. He shot the professor a side eyed look; liked being dramatic eh? That was a particularly good question. Why indeed did the suits of armour just bang into the classroom like that?! "Erm. So that we can use the Algiz rune on them?" There. That was a perfectly reasonable answer that he didn't think betrayed the fact that he had no clue. |
Although Tag hadn't answered, when Botros came to his side the little blonde still got a little reassuring pat from his Professor. Stopping for a second from drawing the Algiz rune Tag looked up at the nice, Continuing to draw Tag stopped after a few more practices and looked up from his desk. Excuse us! We have a class going on here, Suits of Armours! An they were knocking things over from the students desks. That wasn't very nice. MANNERS! They had something to do with what they were learning in class today. "Well, like you said earlier Professor, Heimdallr provided protection and was watchful. Maybe the reason for the Suits of Armours fits into class because they could protect the castle? Didn't they do that already, protect the castle once?" Tag said with his hand up. Obviously they could protect the castle, seeing as they were moving about this very moment, when Tag thought they were only stationary. Though, if they were going to protect Hogwarts could they be more careful with their spears? How they connected to the Algiz rune, Tag couldn't put his finger on that. Suits of Armours couldn't possibly interpret runes. Could they carve onto the Suits? Tag highly doubted that option. |
O____________________________O Um. Okay. Tobias jumped as his notes were knocked off the table by one of the suits of armour, but he caught his ink bottle just in time. Once he picked up the parchment from the floor he raised his hand. ... And then lowered it 'cause Tag had just given the answer he was going to go with. But THEN he raised it again. "Maybe they want to join in and carve algiz?" |
"Thanks Sir!" For the well done and all. She really did appreciate the positive feedback, especially because this class was one of the ones she looked forward to most. The blonde's green eyes widened a bit when Botros then called attention to the doorway and the suits of armor came barging in. O_____O AHDHDLHLHSGDG! Ella had tried to make them move before. Like LEGIT talked to them when she was a firstie and wanted them to hang with her and like BE FRIENDS and now they were here and OHMYGOSH. ...They were actually kind of scary. Kind of. Especially with the way they were swinging their spears an- There went all her stuff... ... ... no worries. She blinked a bit and tried not to gape, turning to look at Professor Botros again cause fan girling armor was just weird, yeah? Yeah. Umm...what was the question again? "I think it has to do with what Tag said, Sir." Nodnod. "They are meant to protect and guard the castle in the same way that Heimdallr did for the bridge." Smiles for the leprechaun and for the statues too cause MEEEP. |
SPOILER!!: botros and armor Adelaide looked down at her drawing. Yep. A couple of them definitely weren't joining together properly. "Thanks professor. I'll keep that in mind." She began to practice drawing a little more while he continued to walk around the rest of the class. ...and then there were suits of armor busting through the door. Adelaide ducked as a spear swung towards her head. It missed her but scattered her things over the floor. Great. She peered up to make sure it was safe before sitting back up. Adelaide got down and cleared her things up off of the floor. She got everything back up and set it back on her desk. Thankfully her ink hadn't fallen because that would have made a big mess. Well, a bigger mess. What were they here for? Protection. Yes they used to protect. "Are we going to use Algiz to protect ourselves?" Those spears looked sharp. They'd almost hit her in the head after all. |
Very good job? AWESOME. Alec grinned at the professor -- was he doing that too much? -- some more, as a way of saying thank you. He would have actually said this out loud except... ... O____O BLINK. BLINK. STARE. So the classroom was being taken over by suits of armour. No big deal, right? Just like it wasn't a big deal that some of his things went toppling to the floor. He'd... pick them up soon, once he realised that they were actually there. As for now, the boy was simply staring at the suits of armour, his grey-blue eyes wide and his mouth hanging open lightly. Man oh man, how AWESOME was this? ... OH HEY TAG. Awesome answer. "I agree with the guarding and protecting the school part. They look pretty strong, too, which Heimdallr probably was." ... And it kind of reminded the boy of something... Yeah, okay, this was... a really stupid question. But what was he going to do? Ask it anyways. His curiosity was practically poking him to do so. "Professor? Does this mean..." Pause. "Does this mean... that the rune... can be used alongside Piertotum Locomotor?" It was a legit question but... hair!ruffle. Why was he ask so many questions, again? ... Also... some of his things were on the floor. Bend over sideways and |
