Nodding a hello and a smile toward the Professor as she entered the classroom, Charlie did so too with the few people she knew, before finding a seat towards the middle and putting her bag down beside her. She had everything, right?

And a bobble. Spotting the object on her wrist, she tied her hair into a ponytail before putting on her glasses. Ready for this lesson, uh huh.

Adrienne entered the Potions classroom briskly, giving Lafay a civil nod in greeting before heading straight for her usual seat from last year. She left her notebook, quill, and ink in her bag for now, since she didn't think it was really worth it to take her stuff out if she was just going to put it back away again to brew a potion- then again, sometimes they began the lesson with notes and then got to the potion-making part. She debated the problem mentally for a moment, and then got out her stuff anyway, placing it on the table in front of her and making sure everything was lined up at right angles. Cauldron at the lower right, quill parallel to notebook edge, inkwell in the upper left corner. There.

So it was potions time already?

Kace made his way to the classroom. He noticed the professor was already in the classroom and some other students as well. Kace gave a nod and greeted her with, "Hello Professor Lafay." and then he made his way towards his seat. He found one seat in the middle because he did have trouble seeing especially when it got smokey and steamy in this room. He even put on his glasses sometimes too but no one really knew he wore any.

He sat by his cauldron, took out his notebook and quill and waited for the lesson to begin. While he was waiting he couldn't resist the urge to doodle.

Potions class, while never the most intellectually stimulating of classes, at least had the advantage of being a class that often got one's blood pumping - from poisonings, explosions, awful smells, or just fear for one's life from Lafay. So yeah, it was safe to say Mo was looking forward to class.

He entered the room and took a seat sorta... in the middle of people. Let's see who we blow up today, hmm? "Good day to you, Professor Lafay."

Well... here we go. Potions was smack dab in the middle of her ability, or so she thought. She wanted to bring that up so she would definitely pay close attention this class. "Hello Professor," she nodded towards Lafay before going around to claim a middle-frontish seat. No need to be directly in front of the Professor, but Tora didn't like to be at the back of a class.

OH, HECK YEAH.

Now this was the class Sophie had really been looking forward to! She was only eleven-years-old, and having somebody like her grandmother be one of her professors was a really big deal to her. Aunt Sierra had said her classes were awesome, but that might just be because this professor was also her mother.

Either way, Potions seemed really awesome. Sophie's mom was a Potions Mistress, too, so this sort of thing ran in her blood. She didn't hesitate to go right into the room and head for a seat. "Hello, Professor," she said, grinning as she passed by the woman. She took her seat and said not another word as she waited for class to start.

Annabeth entered the Potions classroom quietly. She knew Professor Lafay enough to know the best strategy to make her happy was "talk to her the strictly necessary; think about a question at least ten times before asking her; follow her instructions carefully; keep the things clean and tidy always..." It was so easy!

The girl was very happy to see Mrs Lafay again, her eyes sparkled with joy. She wanted to run and hold her tightly and ask her about her little daughter... Instead, she looked at the teacher and greeted her with a nod, smiling slightly. She was not sure whether the Professor had seen her greeting, however she didn't want to bother Mrs Lafay asking her about it. Then she took a seat near to her friends and waited for the class to begin.

Marissa walked into the potions classroom and smiled ah the professor and waved slightly, "Hello Professor." she said as she made her way to an empty table and sat down.

"Hello Miss Carter-Hope" Hecate said to the girl.

"I am, and hello to you Miss Wheatborne," She said and nodded in the child's direction.

"Good Day Master Rehman." And she continued writing some notes as she sat at her desk.

"Hello Miss Eventide," she said to the girl.

Oooo the Hufflestud was in the house... "Doing great... Congratulations on becoming Head Boy, Master Elisabeth-Potter."

"Hello Master Karten." She nodded to the boy.

"Hello Master Barrington," She greeted the boy.

Ahhh the Captain's grandson. "Good morning Master Newell." She said.

Hecate watched the girl bid her hello, and reciprocated in turn.

*blink*

"Master Odessa." She said irritated, "You have been in my class often enough to know I appreciate manners." And he one of her Slytherin at that! "You greet someone when you enter their classroom."

"I'll check your work after class to see if it's acceptable..." She said, "and good day to you Miss Huxley"

"Morning Miss Fischer" She said with a nod.

"Manners Master Mordaunt..." She said echoing what she said to Odessa. The boy was a first year, so she wasn't as irritated... still.

"Good Day Miss Logan" She said to the girl.

"Hello Master Tempus," She greeted.

"Congratulations on becoming Head Girl Miss Hudson." She said.

"Prefect Kinsley." She said looking at the boy, "Front and center please..."

"Hello Miss Bishop." She said.

"Good Day Miss Sommerlad" She said

"It is none of your business Miss Hyde." She said.

She turned to the girl and said "Hello Miss Edwards."

"Hello Master Summers," She greeted the boy.

"Hello Miss Cambridge" She said with a nod.

"Miss Kusakindla," she greeted.

She nodded back to the girl, but wouldn't smile back... she didn't want to look 'soft.'

Hecate nodded to her girl as she saw her greeting.

"Hello Master Lecium" She greeted.

"Good Morning Master Branxton." She said.

"Hello Miss Gallaway" She greeted the girl.

"Hello Miss Newell." She said eyeing the child.

She returned Glasswell's nod with one of her own.

"Hello Miss Burrate" She said.

Hecate took her chalk and charmed it to write it on the blackboard.... "Alright Class... tell me your favorite potion, what they are used for. The one the majority likes will be the one taught in today's class."

Lookie! Anna was sitting next to him! Adi grinned and waved but could not say anything to her because Professor Lafay started to address the class. This was interesting. About the potion they would be brewing today.

Hmmm.

What Potion did he like the most? Adi never had much encounter with potions but he did know about a good set to have a favourite. He raised his hand. "The Polyjuice Potion would be mine, Professor. I like it because I find it fascinating at how it transforms someone into another person.''

Yep. Fascinating indeed. Adi also knew it was not to be used to transform into animals.

Really well this was a bit different. So they got to choose the potion well. Nigel would love it to be Felix Felicis. But that seemed a little too hard for students to do and why would you want to do a polyjuice potion in class. That is best left for "personal" uses. Nigel raised his hand and suggested.

"Elixir to Induce Euphoria. It is used to cause irrational happiness upon the drinker."

Causing people to become inexplicably happy did seem like a lot of fun. Plus Nigel did not think the potion was too difficult. Nigel did hope that Felix Felicis won. Liquid Luck did sound awesome.

Laura raised her hand. "Professor my favourite potion will have to be the Polyjuice Potion because I could become anyone I want to be, it seems such a great potion and if you were in trouble you could disguise yourself as someone else." Laura really thought that it would be fun to change her appearance.

Annabeth waved back at her friend Adi, smiling at him.
"If you need some help during this class, I can help you", she muttered to him.
Then she turned her head to Lafay, as she heard the teacher asking a question.

The girl raised her hand.
"Professor Lafay, Antidote for Common Poisons is one of my favorites." Would it have something to do with the fact she had worked as babysitter to Lafay during last Summer? Of course not, she had never felt afraid of being poisoned by the teacher... no, no, no... Annabeth repeated it to herself, afraid that the teacher could read her mind. She took some time before adding, "I think Cure for Boils will also be very useful for us." She pointed one finger to a big red point on her right cheek.

Sitting in the classroom she stared at the professor, of course she knew a few potions she liked, but she didn’t wanted to speak out lout to tell the class about them, she hated the winter, it was cold and boring… SO she was in a bad temper this day and because of that she kept her mouth shut and didn’t answered the question. But… she stared at the professor, she remembered what had happened the previous year and she wasn’t so sure if she liked the head of her house… And because the professor had warned her to not make any problems she stayed quiet and just… sat there, listening…

Minerva couldn't help but blink at the pleasant mood Lafay seemed to be in. Well that was interesting and she greeted the seventh year.. nicely okay Minerva was sure it was the end now, Lafay being nice. Sitting down she couldn't help, but give a small smile as Kitty sat down next to her. Wade had seem to take the place of her usual shield lately and she was grateful for the protection friendship.

When Lafay asked about potions she looked up, was that a joke, the woman clearly had a potion in mind right? She couldn't help but groan in her head as people started right off with polyjuice potion. Don't give her ideas people. The happiness potion might be fun if Lafay would test it for them. Biting her lip not to giggle she put her own hand up, "Calming Draught professor, it helps to calm a person down." Min knew this potion well.

Favorite potions, eh? Ella listened to her classmates and frowned slightly when Elixir to Induce Euphoria was mentioned. That reminded her a little too much of what had happened with the ice cream and she was still a bit upset about that. Ice cream was her favorite ever, y'know? It just wasn't the same since the ice cream here had been messed with.

Anyway, what was her favorite potion? After thinking about it for a minute or two, her hand went up.

"My favorite is the Dresden Draught, Professor. It enables the drinker to stay awake and concentrate better on whatever they are doing." Which...was extremely useful when you found yourself trying to do a million and one things during the day.

They got to decide what they were going to be taught? That was new... well, Adrienne certainly wasn't complaining, that was for sure. She was always glad to have a say in things, although being that things were usually majority rules, she wasn't usually represented in the final choices. Well, still better to make an attempt at getting her ideas out there and- had two people already said Polyjuice Potion? Really? Adrienne had never tried the stuff, of course, but it looked absolutely disgusting, and from what she'd read transformations could be incredibly painful. No, thank you. Hopefully they'd be outnumbered.

Hmm... favourite potion. Adrienne had a few, but she should probably only list one, as Lafay tended to be rather literal in her questions and she'd only asked for a singular favourite potion. "How about Erumpent Potion?" Not particularly useful, just kind of awesome. "It explodes when it touches things," she added as its uses. Why would you need that? Adrienne had no idea, but she was sure she could find something to do with a liquid explosion.

"Thank you, Professor," Kat thanked Lafay. Yeah sure, it was about the badge. Didn't it bring some sort of Slytherin pride or what? Because it did make Kat feel proud and that stuff. She had her reasons to be proud of it. Head Girl and all, so why not?

But the lesson was about to start. Favourite potion? What they'll be brewing in class today. That was awesome. Kat thought of a potion she liked best, which was a bit hard because she had a lot to choose from. Like Polyjuice, Fameludos, and those interesting ones. It took her a while to choose one potion, even if it was part of a tie of her favourite potions... which was pretty much everything. She liked Potions and it was hard to choose just one. "Magical fireworks. It's not exactly a potion, but I guess the name already speaks for itself. The potion will make magical fireworks and we don't have to ignite a flame in order for it to work." It was something she'd like to brew since hadn't really brewed it before so she was taking this chance.

Her favourite potion... Sarah had lots of favourites. The acne one would be useful for teenagers. The anti paralysing one would be good for a paralsed person, although none were present in the class. Wit sharpening potion or Draught of piece.. wit sharpening was easier, so perhaps.. Sarah raised her hand, "How about Draught of Peace... it would be useful for those with OWLs, NEWTs, Quidditch and Triwizard participants." She said, "when a person stresses, it destoys the neuron connections in their minds. So all practice will get undone"

Her favorite potion? Caterina was rather partial to Felix Felicis herself. Who didn't like to win? She certainly liked being a winner. However, from what she knew of the potion, it probably wasn't one that Lafay would do in one class. Took too long. She was also interested in Quodpot Solution. They could make some of that and then they could all go play Quodpot, yes? ...No. That was probably a no go also.

Oh? Oh? What was this? Cat turned her glance to the other Kat and grinned. "Magical Fireworks sounds like a good favorite to me, professor." In fact, it was now her new favorite. Nod. She was going with the Head Girl on this one.

Wade merely smiled back, happy she was doing great."Thanks, Professor." She was so nice to him, and he liked when Professors were nice. Made the lessons more pleasant and enjoyable. So now the fun things can really begin. His hair had waved a little like the wind afterward.

Having already been seated and comfortable, his eyes ventured to the board as the chalk began to write on its own. ..Hmm? Favorite potion.. His brows furrowed for a moment. There wasn't a lot of potions he could remember taking often, let alone be his favorite. His face looked around the class as he heard a few mentions.. Wait. After seeing his best ruffling mate, Wade rose his hand, "There's.. the Sleekeazy's Hair potion. Makes your hair more manageable." Not that he needed it, heh. But it was the first that he thought of.

Wait, they got to PICK what potion they wanted to do? SO AWESOME! Caleb immediately sat up in his seat and raised his hand straight into the air. "Polyjuice potion!! It lets you turn into another person, what's NOT to like about that one?" he said in excitement. Anyone who DIDN'T want to do that was just crazy. CRAZY!

Tora thought for a bit, listening to what everyone else was saying in regards to what potions they would want to learn. She liked the idea of Polyjuice Potion, but she didn't think there would be enough ingredients in the Professor's store cupboards. She thought about how useful the Draught of Peace would be for her, she knew she had a temper, but she wanted to make something more... interesting. Finally she decided on a very interesting potion.

"Well, Felix Felicis would be really cool to learn how to make," she said with a slight grin and a glint in her eye. Then she thought of the actual potion she was asking to make. "Um, well, I've heard that that's a really tough potion... so if we can't do that one, then how about Invisibility Potion?" she asked brightly. Invisibility was almost as good as Felix Felicis, and could be really useful too.

So...potions. Not Tag's best subject. Not Tag's most decent subject. Probably his worst subject. But, he was still attending classes because he could improve himself, yes? Yes.

Listening to Professor Lafay. Tag didn't know too many potions off the back of his hand but there was one that a Ravenclaw seemed to have said that caught Tag's attention. "Felix Felicis." He said smiling and pointing at the younger girl. "It's a luck potion. An, who doesn't want luck?"

Luck for life stuff, luck for school, luck with friends. It was an all around good thing. Hopefully. But maybe too much luck....

Also, maybe he needed Felix Felicis. For a leprechaun he had not the greatest luck in the world.

Front and center? Really? Theo hauled himself out of his seat and slumped down into one of the ones at the front. How embarrassing, and that meant he had to fully listen to the lesson. Favourite potion? Hmmm... well, now that he thought about it, he couldn't remember any.

Apart from one, of course.

"That Polyjuice Potion." That was it's name, right? "Pretty cool." Theo's hand lazily flopped onto his desk. He heard people talking about the luck potion and daaaaang, that was a good one, why hadn't he said that?
