HUMPH. "I've done worse." Than her foot, not her head. Knocked unconscious in Quidditch, broken her wrist three times, among many other smaller injuries. Although, a cracked-skull may NOT be something that she'd be proud of. Well, she might, if she lived through it. Which, Alice had a point, she probably wouldn't. "Time for me to go," she said abruptly and jumped to her feet. "Later," maybe. She smiled a little at Alice, for the sakes of politeness and then headed up, away from the Whomping Willow and Alice. She called over her shoulder briefly. "Oh, and you might want to try the bottom right hand side of the tree." If her memory proofed correct. Helpful, wasn't she? ;) |

Oh, was she leaving? Alice turned her head a little to watch her go, making a few quick assessments as she did. Bliss was fairly pretty- was that what West saw in her? Nice, she supposed. Accident prone. Apparently had a death wish, or a love of danger, depending on how you looked at it. And she was.. helpful? "I didn't NEED your help," she called after her. Just so she knew. Because if Bliss wasn't overly assisting, she could have found that thing all by herself, thank you. But she took a peek at the bottom right hand corner and sure enough, there was a knot. Now all she needed was Penelope's cat and she'd be golden, right? Except it didn't even feel proper, because Bliss had found it, not her. It wasn't Alice's anymore. Hufflepuffs. They got in the way of everything. |

Was saying "sup" the best thing to say though? Well, probably not but he didn't care at all. He always started saying "sup" or "wassup" so whatever. Wait, she just spoke. "Yeah, I'm new here! Just transferred from Australia." He spoke confidently with his eyes widening up. "Not to be rude, but who are you?" Well, he had to get on first name basis, right? |
Quote:
Kat knew it. He was new. Not a surprise you know but he seemed rather friendly so why not take a chance, right? Australia! "Your hometown seems to be so far away. Why did you transfer?" Well, Australia was beautiful (at least in the pictures, but she'd love to visit that place one day). Had she forgotten to introduce herself again? Oh well. "Sorry, my name is Katrina Hudson." She wasn't going to say she was prefect anymore because everyone could see the badge she was wearing. Shiny, you see. Kat polished it every morning and every night. "What's your name?" |
Quote:
He got his name! Katrina. That was a pretty name. Uncle Nick's first wife was called Katrina. She was pretty cool so this Katrina HAD to be cool. She was a prefect and a Slytherin so that guaranteed a spot on the cool side. She spoke again. She thought he was from Australia. Cool country but no. "I'm not actually from Australia. I just went to school there and sorta got kicked out. I transferred here because it was waaaaaay closer to home than the other side of the continent, you know?" Tommy said smoothly. He wasn't ashamed of being kicked out. It was boring there anyway. "Anyway, nice to meet you Katrina! I'm Tommy Winton by the way." He said proudly. |
Quote:
Oh, so his name was Tommy. Kat was sure to remember that. Nobody else in the school was named Tommy right? It wasn't that hard trying to keep in mind a name. Not... from Australia. That made Kat form even MORE questions in her head, but she wouldn't pester the younger Slytherin with them. She didn't want to be nosy. Kicked out though... poor kid. And no, she wasn't going to ask him why now. It might be rude of her. "Well, since we just met..." Kat said while dodging another killer branch that nearly hit her on the face. "Welcome to Hogwarts... and to Slytherin." Also known as the coolest house EVER. |

Onto the girl he just met named Katrina. Had telling her that he was kicked out scared her away? He really hoped not because she was really nice and pretty. When he told people about being kicked out they usually laughed and said "how?" but she was probably the first who didn't. Maybe she thought she would be rude? Well, if that was the case it would just be showing how polite she is. Many deadly branches swooped by him and Katrina. He thought it was kind of funny how Katrina did it, you know kind of panicky? And laughed in his brain so he wouldn't be rude sniggering to the ground. Without sniggering he responded to her kindly for a change "Thanks I guess?" Wait, he had a question that the prefects might know and he was really curious to know how. "How did this tree get here?" He asked the girl with a look of curiosity in his face. |

Oh right... the silence again. Kat made sure she didn't disrupt Tommy's train of thoughts. She was starting to get really used to this quietness. Experiences with other people, of course. Kat busied herself by kicking a rock nearer to the Willow. Hopefully the tree didn't get angry and decide to hit her. Yep, more glares for the tree. As much as she didn't want to disturb him, Kat just wanted to say something. "You know if Katrina is kind of a long name. You could call me Kat if you prefer that," the prefect pointed out. Some would rather call her Kat than the mouthful of a name her mother had given her when she was born. She didn't have a choice right? The tree? So... its origin. Kat did read some of them in her History of Magic books. "It's been here since before our grandparents were born..." she started. "Maybe around the early 1970's... or maybe even earlier than that. Might be used for protection reasons... and also, it has a knot somewhere near the base that might be able to immobilise the whole tree." That was cool right? RIGHT? Did he want to find the knot? It was an adventure worth taking. |
What a wonderful snowy day! Ronnie was so filled up with...just happiness! All thanks to her new boyfriend. She smiled warmly as she thought about Jory. It felt so great to call him her boyfriend now! Gosh, she was so happy! She couldn't contain it. She skipped along the grounds...she skipped and skipped until she came upon the Whomping Willow. She let herself fall back and sink into the snow. As she laid there, she wondered to herself what she should do in the snow today. She finally decided on making a snowman. 'Cause snowmen are cool. She sat up, looking around herself. Now, were any of her friends here? Building a snowman with a friend was more fun than doing it alone. |

Ella had bundled up and made her way out to the willow, a small smile on her face. She finally had some free time and she really wanted to enjoy it. What better way to do that than play in the snow, yeah? Yeah! Spotting a familiar face, the sixteen year old grinned and called out, "Ronnie!" Waveeeeeee! "You know playing in the snow is better with friends, right?" Flop. "Are we making snow angels?" |
It was December now and there was a definite biting chill to the air, but the weather was hardly deterring for the Norwegian History of Magic professor. Even if it was zero degrees Celsius...when he wanted to take a walk outside, he would take a walk outside. Odin knew it was colder than this in Oslo. Erik was bundled up in a coat and scarf though, no hat, as he walked along the trees near the Forbidden Forest. One tree was of particular interest to him for its historical value, so as he neared the infamous Whomping Willow, the blonde man slowed his pace. He'd heard he should keep a wide berth of this tree. |
Quote:
The blonde had gone down by the two huts that belonged to Alistaire and Peyton and was about to head towards the Lake when she saw someone standing near the Whomping Willow. She crossed her arms and braced herself against the wind as she neared him. "Admiring our little plant, Professor?" She recognized him as Erik Vinteren the Board member and the man who had sat with her during the Mermish lesson the term before. |
Quote:
"Vell, it's not little, vhat much I can say about it," Erik replied with some amusement. "Also, I go by Erik, Miss Elwood." |
Quote:
"Sorry about that, Erik, and I go by Callie, or Calista." Whichever he preferred really. She raised her face to the sky and felt the tiny snowflakes melt on her face. Her tongue poked out and caught one before she spoke again in a whimsical voice. "It's cold where you come from, right?" |
Quote:
"Yes. Very." Erik nodded slowly, but added nothing else as to where he came from. |
Quote:
"Do you like it here at Hogwarts? You're probably rather busy with all the issues the Board is facing plus teaching now." She looked at him with her blue eyes and messed with her scarf. "It was nice of you to offer yourself for the position." She missed Everett but the spot needed filled for the students' sake. She was rambling but she wanted him to speak back to her. |
Quote:
"It's very different here," he answered after a long, thoughtful pause. "I haff never lived in such a magnificent building." Hogwarts was large and while dustier than normal this year, still very much a building to be reckoned with. Not that he was planning on doing anything to it. Heh. Heh. He made proper eye blue eye-to blue eye- contact when she mentioned how nice it was of him to volunteer here. Well that was....true. "Thank you," Erik said softly. "I had my reasons, but History of Magic is an important subject. I didn't vant the students to miss out." |
Quote:
"You're right. There aren't any buildings like Hogwarts in America either." There were other types of large buildings but they were modern and similar to the ones in London. She preferred the old-style of architecture better anyways, like her parents old estate in New York. His reasons to take up the role of teacher sounded similar to her own actually. She rubbed her elbows as she turned to face him. "I felt the same way. I never thought about teaching until the former Headmaster approached me. But the students were in desperate need," No kidding, their Divination studies before she had arrived were awful. "You know they had a centaur teaching here?" The disapproval was evident in her tone and the way she had bobbed her blonde head at him. |
Quote:
He nodded at her story, hiding a tiny smile when she sounded outraged at the idea of a centaur teaching her subject. "No...I had thought vhat vas a rumour." Apparently it was not. "It must haff been some adjustment for vhe students to haff a human professor, after learning from a centaur." Or was it? Heh heh. "Vhere did the former headmaster find you?" he inquired curiously, his bright eyes piercing hers through the snowflakes that were falling more rapidly now. He was assuming she had been found for the vacancy, the way she said he approached her.... |
Quote:
"No it most certainly was true." Callie went on about Theoros. "It probably was an adjustment but I think that it was a necessary one." She ended in an almost a whisper to herself. She didn't want to talk about that much anymore. Centaurs had always rubbed her the wrong way. "What?" The blonde had been distracted by her thoughts for a moment when Eirk had prompted her about her past. "Oh, in Diagon Alley I had been...working there for a while and he met me and said that he could use my services at Howgarts if I wanted to come." It was a steadier job and had good benefits...including a real home. |
Quote:
...and just then, that was what Ella suggested. Playing in the snow. She smiled. "You just read my mind! Of course it's better with friends!" she said with a nod, giggling as Ella flopped next to her. "Sure!" she said, and then she began moving her arms and legs super fast. |
Quote:
And then snow angels were happening. Ella spread her arms and legs, fanning them out and in, out and in. BEAM. "I love making these. You need help getting up, though. Don't want to ruin them!" |
Quote:
"I like making them too!" she said as she kept moving her arms and legs along the snow. As they kept making their snow angels, an idea popped into Ronnie's head. "After we finish these, wanna make a snowman?" she asked. She wouldn't mind giving up her scarf for the snowman, and she had come prepared today with a carrot for a nose in her pocket. Early this morning she had already planned on building a snowman so it worked out perfect! |
Quote:
She was having a grand old time, Ella was. The blonde was enjoying the snow and the way the snowflakes kept falling gently on to her face and in her hair. She smiled a little at Ronnie's idea and nodded enthusiastically too. "Yes, that's a brilliant idea!" Brilliant minds, remember? |
