Around the corner from Professor Bentley’s office is an area where students and staff can come and lounge around in the sun, or sit in the shade, surrounded by friends and food. Come and take a seat at one of the cute little tables, the chairs are enchanted with cushioning charms and they are comfier than they look. Over the summer some of the decor has been removed, so it's a matter of first come first serve. If you don't get a seat, you're welcome to sit on the pavement and enjoy the sunshine from there. Have a picnic, a cup of tea, discuss homework or just relax. All are welcome here.

She had done the near impossible, Lex walked a whole distance without running into anyone or anything!!! Because we weren't going to count the kid that got in the way and she shoved, or that branch that decided to grow in the way of the path she was walking, noooope. This walk was a success!!!
Lottie was still clinging to her but she didn't mind, she would have been clinging too if she wasn't able to see much.
"We're almost there, promise!" Lex was grinning even though the girl couldn't see. The whole thing would be perfect!!!...Unless some idiot messed it up while she'd gone off to find Lottie. It was just in case reasons like that that made her carry her wand with her today, plus she never went anywhere without it but yeah, it was ready especially for idiots.
Finally she stopped walking when she got to a particular spot in the terrace, one of the better places thank you very much. There, she had the table they'd be sitting all nicely decorated....in pink. TWITCH. This was for Lottie, she had to remember that and on the table was a nice tea set that was busily moving around the table, pouring stuff--why yeeesss, that was Raspberry tea.
"You can take off the blindfold noooow."

MERLIN! She was walking toward her DEATH.
Granted, Lottie didn't see she'd shoved a kid out of the way, but she did hear the complain and simply knew what had happened. She already had excellent hearing, and it intensified thanks to the blindfolded situation. WHICH SHE WASN'T COMFORTABLE WITH.
Also, may we also mention that it was a LONG walk to make without being able to see where you were going???
Either way, she never let go of Lex, and was entirely clinging to the Gryffindor until they seemed to make a full stop. Not the same sort of STOP they made when the branch got in their way. Thanks for that, Lex. She was never going to do this AGAIN. 'We're almost there, promise!'. "Riiight." Lex had practically taken her for a walk on the grounds, and it was such a pity she couldn't see a THING.
YES! She could finally take the blindfold off! And she did so, quickly, but let her eyes stay closed for a bit more before getting used to the clarity coming from...well, everywhere. So, she opened them slowly. And blinked.
Several times.
And noticed the...everything pink. A smile appeared on her face, Lex hated pink. Just as much as she hated yellow. "Sooo...?" Was her present tea with Lex? Or...what exactly?

She stood there, grinning while Lottie looked around. The smile told her that she appreciated the pink! GOOD! But this wouldn't be happening very often and in fact she felt she would need a bath after this was all over. No need to have this stuff rubbing off on her now.
So?
"Sooo?" Lex turned to her wondering what she meant by that, it was all pretty obvious you know. "So you pick a seat, sit and we have some tea to celebrate you getting old," which she still didn't think was fair. Like, she was growing as fast as she could! Would it kill the girl to slow down and wait for her?? MERLIN.
Ahem.
She wouldn't let that bother her now though. She herself walked over to a chair and plopped down in it. "Come on, it's real good tea you know. We'll enjoy it for a bit, you'll see your present when you get back to your dorm." Because this was all one very elaborate plan. Have Lottie come out here while some random puffer placed her personal tea set on her bed. This one was hers...her step-mum's really but she thought it was neat so she packed it when she packed Lottie's present. "It's something like this only it makes the tea for you as well." Not like this one here that she had to fill with tea herself.
BEAM.

So, where was her present?! Hadn't this whole thing been because of her present? Hadn't she put all her TRUST in Lex coming all the way up (or was it down?) here? For...a present? Or, well, it was because Lex asked, truth be told, not because of a present.
But then she burst out laughing. "Well, I got that."BEAM. That's why Aidan should listen to her (she already knew Lex did, sometimes), because Lottie was older, and definitely wiser, than him. "Only three years until 17," there was loads to celebrate, really. Three years went by rather quickly, right? Maybe not as quickly as she'd want.
Okay, tea time, then. Hey, wait, what? Her eyebrow was raised the minute she'd taken a seat. "My present is...where now?" Oh, so there is a present? "I thought my present was tea time with you, between pink stuff," Lex wasn't a huge fan of tea, nor of the color immediately on sight. Lottie thought this was the present for those reason....though, on second thought, it wouldn't be much of a present, since she liked Lex the way she is.
Wait, wait, wait, "You're getting me a tea set? That makes tea on its own?" The smile on her face suggested that she was seriously hoping that was her gift, because that was a very good one. Expecting eyes on Lex now.

Lex was about to reach for what was literally the only speck of blue in this whole scenery (the cup, we mean the cup rightthere) when Lottie said what she did. "Oh?" She went quiet, thinking about that. "I never actually thought about that...three years..." She wrinkled her nose before grinning over at her. "You really are old, aren't you?" Just the thought had her giggling and in all this she wouldn't think about the fact that she was in a similar situation. Nooope.
She snapped her fingers instead and watched the cup hop over to her. Muuuch more convenient while she continued her giggling. She then gestured to the larger of the two tea pitchers and watched it pour raspberry tea into her cup. Now then, eyes on the smaller of the two pitchers, she watched it finish the job by adding some hot chocolate.
She grinned over at her again. "In your dorm, waiting for you!" She took a sip of the mixture. Lottie had been right, the two together were delicious. "Taking you out here for tea is your present...sorta...together with the...er...pink but the actual present, I didn't want you seeing so I took you all the way out here!! Plus, you like nature and flowers and stuff and this place is full of them!" See that? She even took into account the setting because her friend like looking at flowers! Even if she herself couldn't exactly see the appeal. They didn't do much of anything ...'cept the man-eaters, heh.
There was another sip taken. She saw Lottie's smile and it made her feel a whole lot better. For a while she was having second thoughts about the gift. "I am! It didn't originally when we bought it but before we left the shop I asked the shopkeeper if he could mess with the charms a bit 'cause I figured you'd like that more." Pffft, and here she thought she'd have to ask Lottie to lie about liking her gift--she really would have.

Lottie didn't mind getting old, but that was probably because she's merely fourteen. You don't worry about getting old at that age. Surely, Dorian Gray didn't worry about it at fourteen. Why should she? Exactly.
The Hogwartian waited for Lex to figure this out, and then nodded before laughing again, "Not that old, and you're only a few months younger. If I'm old, you're also old." Except when Lottie got to be 17, and Lex would still be 16. Or 20, and 19. And those, sort of silly, differences.
Eyes on everything that was going on on that table. Raspberry, yeah? Just the tea? What was Lex telling the pitcher to add..?? Hot chocolate? Lottie instantly BEAMED. See? Lex listens to her. But the girl said nothing at the moment, they were discussing her gift. OH, GREAT. Between yellow stuff. Oh, don't get her wrong, she was still beaming about this whole thing. Even more so when Lex started to explain how she came up with this. She wondered for a moment about Lex's birthday. What setting would she like best and all...but she figured Lex wouldn't pay attention to the things Lottie paid attention to. Lex would probably be just as excited as long as she was with the right people, correct?
"Thank you." A sweet smile was in place. Lex had really thought this through.
Oh, really?! "But that's amazing! Good thinking on your behalf!" Or talking, since she could only imagine Lex talking to the shopkeeper about it. Fun times, yeah? Very. "Really, though, thank you." Another gift she liked. Magic all around. It was perfect for summer and winter holidays when magic wasn't allowed.

The giggling was put on hold and she gave a long look at Lottie. "I am aren't I?" It's funny how she never really thought about that either until she said it just now. "Well then, I take it back. You're not old, you haven't much started growing yet." Did she care that she was suddenly switching opinions? Of course not.
They could both be young. Nodnodnod. Young and still having their Daddies buying them candy and giving them galleons, nothing wrong with that.
She looked over at her now beaming friend. "You should give it a try. They're super obedient and junk, just have to gesture, you could wait too...I dunno, I never wait so I wouldn't know." Really, once she saw them moving she got straight to ordering them around just for the heck of it. Seriously, just look at them move! "I wasn't sure if you would have wanted yours mixed," because Lottie didn't always like chocolate, she had to be in the mood for it, "so that's why they're separate." Even MORE thinking on her part.
Siiiiip. BEAM.
"No problem! You popped into my head when I saw them so it only made sense!" Oooooooooooo and Lottie said she had a moment of good thinking!!! This got her beaming even more! "The man tried telling me he couldn't," VERY rude of him too, "but then I might have started pouting a little and going off on a tiny ramble about not finding the perfect gift for my friend...you know, the whole 'the world will end tomorrow if you don't, mister. She'll hate me for life and I'll never have any more friends then I'll grow to be some kind of psycho who never loves anyone and it'll be all your fault' kinda speech? Worked like a charm!" GRIN.

"Yes!" HAHA! Actually, this whole thing about growing up...Lottie needed to grow up a bit in the height department. Sure, she was older than Lex, but Lex was still taller than her, by an inch or two... Also, we're smirking about that whole 'take it back' situation.
Oh? Lex never waited. Funny, though, was Lottie patient only in the presence of Lex? Or was it possible that the Gryffindor girl was forever impatient, hence why Lottie's impatience went by unnoticed? N'awwww, that's very cute, Lex, you remembered the moodiness. Perhaps today wasn't a chocolate day, but she was still mixing stuff up. There was no way she'd pass up this opportunity. "How is it?" she asked, eyes on the seat as she gestured toward it and waited to get her drink poured and mixed. Raspberry and chocolate. Such different flavors, eh? "I appreciate that, but no better day than today to try it out," definitely. Even better if they didn't end up needing Oakey's help.
Though, Lottie didn't mind that.
Heh. This was a first. "Not everyone tells me that," considering everyone drank tea at the Wisteria home, then it was nothing odd. Well, except her brother, he didn't drink tea for fun, only when he was feeling sick or something. And even then, he'd rather have some of the mint variety, not fruits.
O_O
Oh, Merlin. That was a rather long and fast story. LOL! What? "You must've been incredibly annoying," poor shopkeeper, "But I'm glad you managed to convince him," otherwise, well, the gift wouldn't have been as great as it was now, since they had to clean and do a bit of housekeeping at Hogwarts as well. At least she'll have something that makes the tea for her.
Sip. Merlin, this was it, wasn't it? "Do you think we have found our drink?"BEAM.

Sip. Merlin, this was it, wasn't it? "Do you think we have found our drink?"BEAM.
Yes, she did see the smirking when she took back her earlier statement but she would let it go because it was expected once she went back on an opinion. It was as close to her admitting she was wrong as she would ever come. "You know what else? You'll be very useful when we hit 6th year." GRIN. So there was something to look forward to right there!!
She could already see it. Her spending a bit of her winter break with Lottie and Lottie using magic outside of school because she would be 17...come to think of it...so would Aidan--
STOP. STOP. STOP!
Just as quickly as it came, the humour about age left. She refused to be the only one who couldn't use magic while they were sixth years. It just wouldn't work. NOPE. Absolutely not and she wouldn't accept it. Lex could only imagine the Christmas with them, them whipping out their wands and her just sitting their, nomming on a chocolate frog--though really they were delicious so it would have kinda been alright--it just wouldn't work.
Lottie's question forced her from the sudden horror thoughts and brought the smile back to her face. "It's bloody fantastic! It's like one of the few things I could drink all the time!" Lottie was a genius for thinking it up. "And you're right about that. It's good enough to be birthday drinks...especially since I forgot about the cake" Cough. Ahem. Moving on!
You must've been incredibly annoying.
Hehehehehehe.
Said by anyone else, she would have been offended but see, this was Lottie and she knew she didn't mean it in a bad way, just look at the sentence that followed. She giggled. "I suspect I was, he seemed awfully keen on setting the charms different and seeing me out of the shop." Was that a proud beam? Yeeeeaaaah. Only problem was...she probably wasn't allowed back in that shop. OH WELL, Lottie didn't need that many tea sets ANYWAY.
Lex took another sip, just to make this whole thing seem even more legit before nodding. "YUP! It is, officially!" And it was theirs now. No one else's. Nodnodnod.

Excuse me? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!NO. "Hey, it's nice to know I'm not useful now," cue eyebrow raise. So, apparently, the sole reason why she'd be more useful would be: 17, of age, magic. Those were three reasons, honestly, but still...they meant the same thing. Did Lex have something in mind? Because it was a few years away, you know? And only during the Christmas break. "What if I refuse to be useful?"SMIRK.
She would probably go to Aidan, because he'll be 17 by the time the holidays get to them on their 6th year. Still a looooong way to go. Who knows? What if the Giant Squid eats him before reaching 17? Exactly.
Lex had thought of something. Something somber that had taken her smile away. But it was soon in place, so Lottie asked no questions.
BEAM! IT WAS! Oakey wouldn't approve of it 100%, though, because of the chocolate, but who cares? "We ARE official," because, clearly, both their personalities were poured into the drinks somehow, yeah. "Something we both like," besides being super straight-forward to Milton, which no longer applied. So, yay for drinks!
We heard that. "Don't worry about it. I don't really like cakes." More like cupcakes. Remember, Lex?
She suspected? Nope, she'd been annoying, surely. Though Lottie didn't truly know, she could only compare her to those idiots who never shut up. Lex didn't seem annoying to her, not at all. They wouldn't be here otherwise. Trust us. "Do you remember the charms?" A word? Something? This was important information.
Chances are she wouldn't remember.
She took various sips before thinking about something else, "Let's not name it, let's just say it's ours." It felt great that way.

Lex giggled again, this time at Lottie's tone and words. "You're more than useful as it is, you know that, remember the Forbidden Forest plan?" Good thinking on the Puffer's Hogwartian's part, "but our wands are of no use to us when we leave here, I bet it bothers you as much as it bothers me." No magic allowed plus horrid step-mother equaled a madhouse.
She leaned forward in her seat, still amused, even after what Lottie had said next. "You wouldn't refuse though, it'd be too tempting. Aidan will say something to annoy you and you know what? You'll hex him into the New Year. It'll be very terrible and quite mean of you, considering it will be the holidays and you'd be meant to have Christmas cheer but at the same time it might liven up my holiday." Logic Lottie. You both had it. "I suspect he'll retaliate, then I get a front row seat to a wizard's duel. How many people get entertained by their friends with wizard's duels over their holidays?"EXAAAAACTLY.. VERY useful indeed.
And now that that was put out there she took another sip of her--oh wait no, their drink. "Mhm and thankfully not something I'm allergic to!" There might have been some grumbling about strawberries somewhere in there as well. But in all honesty, if strawberries were Lottie's favourite there wouldn't have been much to tell Lex she couldn't have any. NOOOPE. So very good thing.
She relaxed a bit. Cake wasn't an issue, good. She would have gotten them some mini cupcakes, because that's what you had with tea, you know, but there were none in the kitchen.
Lex could remember a time when the kitchen had EVERYTHING. Sigh.
Uuuuhhhh. "I didn't know I was meant to be taking notes on that...I mean...I could maybe ask Daddy to go back and ask but, no, I don't remember. It can't be that complicated though, not from what I saw. For a man who was insisting that he couldn't do it he sure waved his wand fast and got it nicely fixed up when I got to talking." Pffffft, see why she never took adults seriously?
"And another brilliant idea right there." She said, raising her cup to Lottie. "It's just ours." BEAM.

See? Lottie was already useful without magic, without a wand, it was her mind that did all the work. And her training skills, apparently, otherwise the forest's perfectly-planned excuse wouldn't have worked. Lottie was certain they wouldn't have gotten in 'trouble' if Audrey hadn't ran away. Stupid Ravenclaw. She merely smirked. No need to answer it had been a brilliant idea.
"It bothers me a little, but not as much as it should, I guess. It's alright." Maybe because she got people to do whatever she needed and a wand was of very little use then. NOW, Apparition on the other hand...THAT was something she was looking forward to.
Geez. The smirk went away the second he was brought up. Thanks, Lex. "I won't hex him." True. Lottie didn't hex the people she didn't like. A Silencing Charm, however, was more appropriate. Plus, her mind is her greatest strength when it comes to Aidan, anyway. Lottie still laughed, softly, as Lex kept going. Retaliation from Aidan. That was amusing. And entirely possible because Lex was giving him some sort of confidence Lottie wasn't liking. But he wouldn't do anything to her, though. Lottie was sure of that. "We can practice dueling, though," she started to say, amused by Lex, "But that would mean we'd have to be in the same place." And NO.
Sigh. Yes, a real sigh. "I have to talk to him." To Aidan, that is.
You have to admit that strawberries and chocolate are a perfect pairing. Luckily for Lex, Lottie preferred raspberries. Go figure. "Yes! And you don't need a potion to drink it! By the way...how long does the potion last?" Fair question. In case they were in the presence of strawberries someday.
Mini-cupcakes would've been EXCELLENT! Mags eats a whole one of those.
"No, you didn't have to, but it never hurts to know what he did...," it may be useful in the future, see? Like now, she could charm things to work on their own and not do laundry or anything by herself. "It's alright, though, no need to bother the man any more," seriously, though. No need.
Ours. Heh. Just Lex and Lottie, okay? No Aidan included. She was quite aware that this also leaves Garrick out, but yeah.
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite

Ours. Heh. Just Lex and Lottie, okay? No Aidan included. She was quite aware that this also leaves Garrick out, but yeah.
And there you had it, another difference between the two. If it weren't for chocolate frogs--which she had to cut down on anyway for the sake of Jeremy who insisted on being terrified of them and just about every bloody thing magical--then she would go mad over the summer, whereas Lottie didn't seem to mind the no magic thing as much.
"I don't know how you survive." She said simply. It was the truth, she couldn't remember what she used to do before she had her own wand...something to do with terrorizing people in her neighbourhood...yeah...
Ooo and there it was right on cue, of course Lex expected the smirk to be gone the moment she mentioned Aidan. It was a thing. She understood, so quite naturally it was disregarded as she continued listening on. It was good to know she wouldn't hex him especially after Lottie had her make that promise at the start of term feast, which she obviously meant but still wasn't all that pleased about. By the time the girl was done she was grinning. "That is another brilliant idea Lottie," Yeah she knew that's not how Lottie meant it but she could lie to herself for a little, just for the fun of it, "that thought didn't even cross my mind," pffft, really it did, "glad you're the one that thought about it and not me!" BEEEEAM.
Oh? "You mean like, about the current situation between you two?" The situation that Lex had refused to accept mind you. "That's good! Really good! I'd offer to do the same selfless thing and have a mature word with Garrick too but I think we can both agree I'll do more good staying away from him." And there was more beaming too.
This was all in good fun of course, but she was still happy that Lottie planned to talk to him. Maybe they'd figure something out?
Lex nodded right before helping herself to some more of the drink. "I know right!" But really, she would have drank it anyway. Seriously. As for the potion. "I dunno...I haven't had much reason to eat strawberries since the day I tested it out. I should try having some once we leave here, if I start wheezing then clearly it's nothing long lasting." Further logic.
Pffffft, the man deserved to be bothered if you asked her. He was a regular grump. People like that practically begged to be bother, but okay. She wouldn't bother him again.
"Alright, suit yourself." She would make herself content with thinking about the exclusiveness of their drink. Like SO exclusive that even people who made you blush yeah, we're talking about Garrick, Lottie, can you tell?? weren't allowed to get in on it. "We'll have to have this again at the end of term after we see exactly what goes wrong this term. You know, to celebrate not dying." She may have been jumping the gun but well she DIDN'T plan on dying and she didn't plan on her friends dying EITHER.

She may have been jumping the gun but well she DIDN'T plan on dying and she didn't plan on her friends dying EITHER.
Seriously? "Well, I survived very well for the first 11 years," but everything she did with magic back then didn't matter much in the eyes of the Ministry, "We also spend much more time with a wand than without one," which made the few holiday months bearable.
Hey, wait, what?!
Nu-uh. That's not what Lottie meant AT ALL, she was trying to state that it would never happen because BOTH would have to be in the same place, and she didn't see that happening. No. "Nope, it was not an idea," so don't get any, Lex. However, the Hogwartian had a sense that Lex's head was already full with ideas. Yeah, we're EXTREMELY glad. Not. "And it's not happening." Maybe in 10 years.
Oh, so Lex knew about the current situation. Lottie thought she was oblivious to it all, since she'd failed to speak about that. But yes, the current situation in which Lottie told Aidan never to speak to her again. "Yeah." Exactly.
Next thing, Lottie was laughing. Lex, talking nicely to Garrick, she did not see that happening ever. There's no way to know if the sudden smile on her face was thanks to the mention of his name, or the fact that Lex had amused her. "I agree with you on that," unless her words lead to an apology. They were past that point now, so it would do no good.
BEAM. No need for potions, it was excellent. The best drink ever. They needed to come up with one for the summer. A cold one. Preferable involving lemon. They could ask Alice to share some thoughts. "The day you decide to try it again, keep the potion at hand, yeah?" Juuuust in case.
Got it. We know what you mean, Lex. "Then we'll be having it again, since we won't be dying anytime soon," seriously, though, Milton was the one always close to passing, not them. "Unless we make one drink for summer...," she said, drinking a bit more of the raspberry-chocolate mix.

There was logic in what she said, a whole bunch of logic. That didn't change the fact that she would have preferred having magic in the summer months too. Amanda, admittedly, wasn't as dumb as she thought her to be. The woman knew no hexing would happen and got real cheeky about it when her father wasn't around.
She would have stated this view aloud but then the Gryffindor was thoroughly distracted by the look on Lottie's face.
"You know Lottie, even though we know that I don't like lying, I wouldn't mind you lying to me every now and then about things like this. Give me false hope, it's three years away, I'm bound to forget by then." And there would be no harm done! See how that works! With this. Only this. Lex would always hate lying in general but obvious things like this were okay because she'd be able to tell and go along with it, not because of deception but for the fun of it.
She gave a solemn nod to that. "It's very good of you, very grown up 14 year old like." She said, losing the serious expression for a much more amused one. Of course she knew about the argument...she just...didn't think she would have been able to have much say considering certain other things that happened. Ahem.
Would you look at that. Lottie agreed. Lex was at her most polite when she wasn't around things and people that made her rude. Made sense, yeah?
...."But, that would mean putting it off 'til a later day because I don't have the potion on me...AndIDon'tRememberTheIngredientsIUsed." Cough. That might have been a part of the problem too when she thought about it.
Lex thought that last bit over. "We could do that, make another and have this to start the term then the other to end it--like a tradition! Something else that'll be completely exclusive." Just in case Lottie got ideas for summer meetings with a certain someone oh hey we're talking about Garrick again to have drinks.

Hmmm? Lottie tilted her head all of the sudden after having drank more of their drink. Lex's tone was very different, actually. And also, we don't approve of lying either. Unless circumstances demand it. Like the forest situation. Wait, give false hope? She didn't like that. "But...," it was true, though, Lex was bound to forget. Except something THIS important wouldn't slip her mind. Ever. "...okay, I can try." No promises, though. It was easier to speak her mind when she didn't like someone, apparently. Though she always spoke her mind, but still.
A smile crept to her face. It was a very grown up thing, Lex. It would surely contain an apology as well. Perhaps. She still needed to know what it was she wanted to say. An apology may not even be necessary, since she did nothing wrong to Aidan. Besides saying he was as thick as Kaiden. And that proved to be true...until Kaiden opened his mouth. Seriously.
Lottie shrugged, "I'm not saying right noooow...," because she was happily enjoying her drink and wouldn't go anywhere else until she was done, even if she wanted to see her present already, "...You forgot?"BLINK. "Well, I'm sure we can ask someone...," or Lottie could do some research.
"Oh, I like that!" So, Lottie was totally agreeing with Lex's idea of tradition. It was a very Wisteria-thing, actually. And YES, exclusivity was a must. A must! Nod, nod.

Lex drew on a smile. "Good. That's all I ask." The smile turned into beaming. Who was she kidding. Her memory was selective and that was something she WOULD want to remember. Maybe Lottie shouldn't give her false hope afterall...it would do more harm than good for sure!
Lex and false hope? Bad combination. She'd have to be the one to let herself down once the time came but that was easy enough for her. She'd already trained herself for that.
Ooo, Lottie was back to smiling. That was good but it reminded Lex of something. This was Lottie's birthday, so far she'd made the girl scowl more than once. That wasn't supposed to happen today. She needed to stop bringing up things that had the potential to upset her. She needed to keep things light and not horrible. Ummmmm..."Have you run into the new Charm's Professor as yet?" She didn't know how that would help but the question suddenly hit her and she was curious if the woman wand-handled anyone else's pets.
"Yeah, we can ask someone...but they weren't taught it too, we were supposed to pick our own individual ingredients...I don't think anyone knows what I put into it." Meaning, yes, Lottie would have to research because she wanted more strawberries.
AND LOTTIE WAS AGREEING AGAIN!!! "Great! We'll have to start working on it before the term ends then!!!" Eeep!! She couldn't wait!!!!

It was worrying, truth be told. Thank Merlin she didn't promise a thing. Well, she did promise she'll try. Ask Aidan how those promises work, eh? She was definitely hoping Lex would forget about this, that's all she could hope for. For some reason, Lottie started to think that Lex wouldn't let go of this and was probably going to keep saying: You said you'd try. Which will probably be slightly annoying, but she said she'll try, nothing more.
The girl decided not to add anything else. Just a simple nod. Time to distract Lex, then.
Excellent! Class stuff. "I haven't actually. I don't want to go into her office yet...," it was best if she waited for the actual lesson to see how the woman reacted to them and such before going to her office with questions. "I hope she teaches us something super helpful this term," like how to charm everything in the laundry place without Lottie's hands getting wet. That was useful.
The cooking part was only a matter of luck.
Nah, seriously?? "I'll look it all up, then...," definitely, she didn't mind, "...no promises, though." AGAIN.
Laughter, it was happening. "So we can try it the next one?" Because that's what had happened with this drink they were currently holding.

Laughter, it was happening. "So we can try it the next one?" Because that's what had happened with this drink they were currently holding.
She hadn't??
"GOOD!" Maybe she said that a bit too loudly, and maybe with a bit too much conviction but she couldn't help it. Her baby was wand-handled, WAND-HANDLED. Yeah...she'd just...sip some more of this good drink stuff. Speaking of, she extended her cup and cleared her throat. Immediately the pitchers got hopping and pouring her more of the mixture.
It only took a sip for her to return to normal--okay...something kind of like normal. You're best friend's not normal Lottie, you know this.
Lex leaned forward as if she was about to share some topic secret stuff, even more top secret than stuff they talked about that one time that neither of them was ever ever going to repeat aloud but really leaning was so she didn't have to talk all that loud. "I bet she'll teach us neat stuff alright, if you ask me she can give Professor Lafay a good shake. The woman glared at me--like legit and she had Felix dangling in the air for no good reason." WAND-HANDLING. "The worst part is, it was for no good reason."....sorta...
And awwww, she'd look up the potion for her! "I could help you remember some of the stuff...just not most of it but I'm sure we'll figure it out." Or Lottie would then Lex would be there to provide the motivation! Usually stuff. BEAM.
"Yup, we'll have to, can't end the term without the new drink. The tradition starts right now!" Nodnodnod.

Merlin! Why so excited about that? Was it really a good thing she had yet to meet this new Professor? Should she be worried? Did the woman choose their own partners in class? If so, Lotus wouldn't so lucky. Probably. But she watched Lex pour herself (or leaning the cup so she'll be served) more of the drink, "Is it really a good thing?" eyes on her friend as she expected an answer to that.
Oh, and we get secrets now?
Was she expecting Lottie to be sort of scandalized over the incident? Well, the girl simply laughed. Rather loudly, too. To Professor Lafay? No way. "What exactly had you been doiiing, Lex?" THAT was a very fair question if you asked her. Also, "I bet she had her reasons, though I can't say if they were good or not...," they probably were.
"When did it happen, by the way?" This question would probably be answered when Lex explains, right? But she still asked.
BEAM. "Help is appreciated, indeed," it'll give her some place to start. Some clue, even. She was good at Potions, and following instructions too. Not as good as Transfiguration, but good enough.
"Agreed!" Now she had two things to work on. The potion for Lex, and their other drink. Might as well start working on the other three they'll be doing after that one.
Ethan had rushed all the way from Ravenclaw tower down to the grounds and out towards the Greenhouse area. Lafay had only given them 45 minutes to collect the ingredients and it seemed like he was spending most of that allotted time simply getting to each place. Perhaps he should have chosen places closer together. That didn't matter now, though, because he was halfway done and well on his way to the third item.
Ethan walked quickly into the terrace, green eyes searching for a specific plant. He knew he had seen them here before.. yes! There was a cluster of Asteraceae.. or more commonly known as daisies. Having kept some of his smaller Herbology supplies in his bag since there was very little student equipment left at school, Ethan pulled out a spade and began digging up one of the daisies. He knew that daisy root was a common potion ingredient, but he put the whole plant in his bag in order to harvest the rest of the plant as well. One more.. he checked his watch. A few more minutes then he needed to head back. He didn't want to face Lafay's wrath for being late.

She got the feeling that she either wasn't being taken seriously or her friend genuinely had no idea how bad the woman was. You didn't simply glare at Alexa Cambridge, it was ruuuuuude. Lex gave her a solemn nod at her question. "Yes. A very good thing. Who knows, she might have been rude to you too then I'd have had to plant something awful in her office," messing with her was mildly a problem but being rude to her best friend was another story entirely, "just think, she'd find out somehow then haul me off to the dungeons and dispose of me before anyone can even notice... but you'd notice that I was gone, yeah?" Too dramatic? She couldn't help it.
Uhhh...
What was that? Come again? "What was I...doing...?" Why ask such a political question Lottie? Whose side were you on??? "Nothing bad, I assure you. Felix had gotten loose." When hadn't he? "And as the good kneazle owner I am I had to go after him." Mags wasn't the only thing he liked chasing, you know. "And she just appeared out of NOWHERE. I didn't see her while running and might have knocked right into her but in all fairness I'm the one that fell to the ground, not her."
So there was no need for wand drawing and such--Lottie say what?? "Good reason? What good reason would anyone have for nearly killing my baby??" Okay, so the spell she used was a simple levitation one...but Lottie didn't need to know that or she'd think she was overreacting which she was but only a little.
"I can be a big help!!" GRIN. "We'll find it again...hopefully before we go off for the summer--which is still a long way off." They had plenty of time. Plus, she didn't plan to stay away from strawberries any longer than she had to.
Oooo and there they went agreeing again. BEEEAAAM.

Whaaaaaaat? It was a Professor, Lex. There was no need. And she could care less about glares, regardless of how rude they were if they happened for no particular reason whatsoever.
O_O
Blink. "What are you talking about? Not even Lafay would do that." And she'd heard stories about Lafay, she's had her moments. Lottie just thought she was an amazing Professor. Could hardly say anything about her as a witch, though. This didn't apply to Airey, for reasons.
Felix always got loose. Should they take that as a sign and set him free on the forbidden forest? Nah, he was actually a cute kneazle, when he wasn't trying to eat Mags or other creatures. Of course, only Lex would run into a Professor. Ah, we see what happened, then. Enlightenment was a great thing to happen. "Perhaps you caught her in a bad mood, not that that's any excuse...," she added the last bit quickly, "...or she's intrinsically evil." Hey, remember our bet, Lex?
No, no, hold on. "I said reasons, didn't specify if they were good or not." A good reason would be: to teach someone a lesson. A bad reason would be: to let them know who's in charge. As if they don't know who's in charge here. Airey The Headmistress, of course.
BEAM. Exactly! "We have plenty of time." Time that would be divided into Hogwarts homework, chores, Garrick friends. And, of course, research for Lex.

"THAT is the point I'm trying to make here, Lottie, work with me." And while you're at it, forget the crazed look. A theory was forming and it probably wouldn't lead to anything good. "There's something off about that woman, she threatened me too you know, like legit!!" So Lafay did that too but she usually had reasons, MORE reasons than a thirteen year old running into her!
Bad mood? Riiiiight. Naturally she disregarded that for the more likely (to her) option. "YES! You think that might be it?? I mean, usually Hogwarts waits a while for something to go wrong." She paused and glanced around briefly.
"What if she's the dark wizard--or in her case witch--we've been looking out for??" Whispering was necessary, believe it or not but once that was said she could talk normal again. "We haven't had any time to figure who'll get sacked yet, she needs to kinda...you know...come back later?" Dark wizards did that, yeah? There was no shame in taking an appointment. It prevented take over the world (school, same thing) plans from clashing. You'd think villains would think this through more thoroughly, jeeeez.
Lex nodded a bit. It was true. The girl had never said what reason it could be. "I doubt she even has anything good about her." This was how one passed rushed judgements. They ran into someone one day, got glared at then BAM bad judgement passed. Pretty easy once you had the hang of it.
"Actually...if that woman really is what we," yes we, they're in this together, yup, "think she is, we might not have all that much time before she starts ruining things. What do you think?" Because Lottie's opinions mattered A LOT, especially when planning conspiracy theories; obviously.
