A room that was once just a door that was near the Divination Classroom ladder is now open for students and staff alike to enjoy. The Tea Room is a small little tower room about the same size as Professor Elwood's office but instead of being cluttered with books it has a few small tables and chairs in the center with tea sets set-up for either practice or a pleasurable afternoon tea with friends.
This room is free to be used by anyone for practice for whatever you are working on in Divination (there are supplies in the closet. Everything from tarot cards to lithomancy stones.) or just to meet up with friends and chat. This room also serves as the meeting place for the Spreading the Noble Art Club, an extracurricular Divination club.
OOC: School and SS rules apply. Professor Elwood or someone else will most likely catch you if you use this room inappropriately or for snogging, so be warned. Have fun!
With her telescope(s) in the Extended Carpet Bag, Quazi made her way to the next tower, the one that smelled strangely like tea. But she wasn't looking for a warm drink, no, what good would that do her for selling? Instead, once she reached the room, she glanced down at the parchment again. Crystal balls? The female goblin looked around confusedly for a bit before locating the closet and entering it, finding the balls almost immediately.
"By the hairs on Urg the Unclean's filthy head, these'll be worth a fortune!" Her exclamation was quiet and excited, and Quazi's eyes lit up as she reached for them. Each, one by one, was cautiously dropped into the bag next to the telescopes, and she took great care not to break them.

Minerva needed to work on her divination homework. Since she had some extra time she made her way up to the divination tea room. It seemed to be the perfect spot to do her tea reading. Plus she hadn't been in that room yet and wanted to check it out.
As she made her way into the room she really wasn't paying attention. She set her bag down and was headed to get some things to make her tea when she turned and froze. What in the world was that. She just stared at the creature moving around. Then it registered, was that a goblin in Hogwarts?? "Excuse me.. I..I don't think you are suppose to be here."
It was high time she started studying for NEWTs. So... which subject should she begin with? For some reason, Gwen decided to choose Divination. And what better place to go study for that particular subject than the tea room?
So, the seventh year quickly made her way towards the tower. As soon as she stepped in the room, she spotted someone. ‘Hey Min’, she greeted the Hufflepuff. Erm. What was wrong? Her eyes immediately started scanning the place.
. . .
Erm.
‘What are you doing?’ She EYED the goblin for a moment. Then she drew her attention back to Minerva. Hmm. Think. What were they supposed to do? Things weren’t looking good so. Should she go announce Professor Elwood? Send a patronus? Because they clearly needed help.
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
So, Jory had really enjoyed their first lesson for the term and he had decided to head to do something Divination to pass the bit of free time he had. Of course, he could be studying. But he didn't fell like it.
The Puffer expected the Room to be empty when he got there. But no. There was Min. And Gwen. And someone else. "Hiya, Min!'' he greeted his friend. "Gwen.'' That's when he turned to really look at the other person. It was a goblin. And she was grabbing the crystal balls. "Excuse me,'' Jory said. "Those do not belong to you.''
It was a rather quiet week – well, since the goblins had left. She did feel bad that the lovely crystal balls (that really, she didn’t know anything about how to use) were, well. Not there, anymore not since the filching as she called it. The nice thing was that she wouldn’t have to heat the water here. There was a pot of hot water – hot water for tea! And she had her tealeaves with her.
Because they were so much better than the schools brand of deliciously foul, tea-related-torture. Reaching into her bag she took out the cup and saucer she had placed in there that morning for these exact purposes. The next thing she did was set them on the table and unwrap them. She had charmed them of course to be unbreakable.
Okay. She bit her lip and set about mixing the hot water and tea – and delving straight into the meditation. This time though – she had a different idea. Instead of just meditating she stood in the room near the little table and reached her arms up to the sky and started doing the ‘tree pose’ from that yoga…wait, no defense against the dark arts class. So she stood there calming herself for a few minutes as the tea steeped.
When it was finished – and she was ready she sat down on the nearest little chair…stool more like it and blew on the surface of the tea. Closing her eyes she took a sip of the electrifyingly delicious tea. Each sip waking her senses to something new, the fact that for once – she had a question. A deep longing she needed to figure out. Does he like me? yeah that overworked question of the ages. But, she needed to know if he did – but the problem was she didn’t know which he she was thinking of…it just stayed there plaguing her mind.
When she glanced into the cup the first thing she saw near the handle was the teacup. Sitting just by the rim of the cup. Which made her laugh of course. She was drinking out of a teacup and looking at a teacup in that teacup. The next thing she saw when she moved down the cup twisting it in her hand. Almost perpendicular to the teacup – was the shape of a grasshopper. It was right at the middle-line of the cup. And as she continued twisting the cup and moving her eyes down further and further she spotted it. A kite, at the bottom of her cup.
SPOILER!!: journal
Rim / Top
Teacup – warns you to take special interest in this reading and indicates good fortune in all the areas of love.
Middle
Grasshopper – a grasshopper suggests significant news received via the grapevine.
Base
Kite – a kite signifies ambition that will carry you far as long as you’re prepared to take any opportunities as they come.
For this reading I asked about emotions friendships and relationships with boys. Which this – this reading frankly made me even more confused than I was before I even started on the whole concept of doing a reading. When I started this I assumed I’d get ‘no one likes you that way’ written in tea in the cup. Heck, that would have been easier to decipher. Still – the teacup in the cup made me laugh. Since it’s a cup on a cup that I’m drinking from. Still – this pertained to love. And I was paying interest and trying to understand this reading. But it was hard. So very hard.
The grasshopper makes me think that I won’t find this answer out unless I either ask people. And asking someone ‘hey do you think so-and-so Ravenclaw’ or ‘so-and-so-random-house-boy’ likes me’…or heck, ask if a certain Hufflepuff liked me. But to stave off embarrassment I’m not putting names here. It’s too awkward. Especially with you being a Professor and all.
But still. The thing that threw me was the kite. It tells me that I have to let my ambitions carry me and take the opportunities that come with it. This – with the grasshopper I assume means that I have to take what I hear and use it to my advantage. But that doesn’t feel like me – I don’t want to “use” something if I could possibly hurt someone. So in the end – even though I’m probably just being silly with the thinking of boys thing – I’m going to stay single, for now.

different timeline ///Divination Hw post one - morning reading
Gryffinclaw-Ravendor • The REAL Hermione Granger
Sarah's stomach was hurting. Sarah's stomach was the kind of stomach that would not let her get out of bed if it was not lured out by food. If it was empty it would protest so aggresively it would be hard to stand, walk and basiaclly do anything that was not lying down on it. It always had to be h\busy, just like Sarah. Sarah tried to placate it by remidin git that she would eat soon and from then on ignored it.
Now she was here to make tea and do a reading. She took out her cup and sacuer from her satchel and placed them before her. She was about to warm up her own water yet then noticed that the room already provided for that. She filled her cup 3/4 of the way and added a teaspoon of the tea leaves that she had discovered in the room. She did not mind using the awful tea leaves as that prevented her from wanting to drink too much and therefore fail the reading (she had to leave a bit at the bottom). SHe let the tea brew as she tried to clear her mind. She hated this part, for Sarah any moment when her mind was not thinking was a wasted moment.
By the time she cleared her mind the two minutes were over. Sarah dipped her finger in a few times in order to test the tempreture. Once satified she lifted the cup with her left hand and paused. WHat should she thik about. As it was the morning Sarah decided to think about what the school days ahead will bring. She then began to sip her tea concentrating hard on the question.
Finally the cup was drained except for the bottom bit and Sarah gave it three swirls, dumped the cup on her saucer and then took three breathes and turned it over. Now the actual work.
She began to see what was in it. First she looked at the rim and tied to discern shapes. There was some kind of stick, pin or wand or something like that. She looked for them in her textbook and could not find an entry for that, yet she did see needle. Perhaps she had a needle. Yes she had a needle. Now the middle area. That looked like a bell or ball. Sarah looked up the interpretations for both and decided that having a bell would be more favourable. Now the bottom, or the base. What was her conclusion, it looked like an open book. Or at least by adding some specks here and there mentally it did. Great that wad done now she needed to make her journal entry.
She took out her journal and began to write:
Quote:
Rim: needle
middle: bell
base: open book
In the rim, which signifies today I found a needle A needle suggests that you will receive recognition for a job well done. Today I will get homework back all marked. Maybe a test as well. Or it can just mean a compliment from the teacher. In the middle I have a bell - A bell predicts that you'll be hearing of news, which will connect, closely with your current concerns. In the near future I will find out what is really happening at Hogwarts. Why it suddenly went poor and why a lot of things were repossesed. This will all happen soon. Meanwhile more investigating is due. Now on to the open book - An open book means learning and knowledge. In the end of my school days I will have learnt a lot. This actually seems pretty obvious to me.
Perfect. This was going quite smoothly.

What was that sound? The Divination Professor had been in her office after grading some of the homework she had piled up when the sounds of raised student voices drifted into her 'corner' of the tower.
Callie got up from her desk, slipped her sandals back on and headed out towards the tea room in a swish of skirts. When she entered she saw three students all with worried looks, staring at....one of the Gringott's Goblins.
She'd had word from some of the other staff members that they were here but she hadn't expected them to come up here. What were they after anyways.... Oh. NOT HER CRYSTAL BALLS! The blasted spirit last term broke all of them and she had just gotten the Board to buy her new ones and now the bank was repossessing them?! Things this term could only get worse.
"Mr. Stonewall, Miss Wheatborn and Miss Greene it appears that Hogwarts owes Gringott's money and now they are taking our supplies to make up for it." She huffed and shot the Goblin (who was really just doing their job, but still) a look before turning back to the kids with a more gentle face. "Thank you for your concern but I don't think we will have much success in pushing the matter at the moment.
"Perhaps we should go get some fresh air or some snacks in my office?" She would be talking to the Headmistress as soon as the kids were gone though. This was just plain ridiculous.

The door to the Tea Room was open and the fireplace had a fire going to keep them warm against the chilly air behind the snow frosted windows. The first meeting of the Spreading the Noble Art Club was about to start. Professor Elwood had duplicated the spindly little chair and table sets to allow for the club members places to sit and had place tiny cakes at each seat along with tea and lemonade and a pot of hot chocolate for those who were still chilly from the drafty walk up there.
She was standing at the door ready to greet them as they entered.

Ella stepped into the tea room and smiled. It was nice and warm in here, huh? Just the way she liked it. "Hello Professor!" Beam. She was happy to be here, see? Mostly because Divination confused her in a good way. In a way that made her want to learn lots more about it.
Settling down in one of the chairs, the blonde placed her parchment and quill on the table and helped herself to some hot chocolate. Mmmm.
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
She hadn't even gotten to the room yet when the scent of hot chocolate gripped her. jgbdjfb, kgfu!!!! CHOCOLATE!! This put a pep in Lex's step as she made her way to the tea room. Divination wasn't her favourite subject but she didn't hate it either. It was neat when it wasn't telling her that she would die a painful and early death, you know?
Oh, the professor was already there and at the door! "Hello Professor!!!" BEAM. "My nose has been telling me there's hot chocolate here but I probably would have known that if I'd consulted some cards or tea leaves, right?" This was a Divination club afterall. She beamed a bit more at the woman before taking a seat.
"Hey Ella!"
AH HAH!! She KNEW she'd smelt hot chocolate!!! Lex happily helped herself to some--ooo and cake!!!
This would be a good meeting. These snacks were a good omen, yup, mhm.

Yet again, Jory was back at the Tea Room. Not because of the pesky goblin but for the meeting. He was quite looking forward to it as Divination was one of his favourite subjects.
"Hi, Professor!'' he greeted when he arrived. And there was Ella. And Alexa."Hi, there Ella! Alexa, seen any other thestrals lately?'' Oh look! Snacks! Jory wasn't very hungry so he just grabbed some hot chocolate.
The room was filled with the scent of the fire that crackled in the fireplace. She just beaaamed as she went into the room for the second time that week. And really she was glad to be inside from the cold and by a fireplace.
"Hello Professor Elwood" she beamed at the well...SNAC leader. She also beamed when she saw Ella. "ELLA!" She squeaked happily and took a bouncing step over to her. "How are things?" She asked smiling at her friend. And then Lexa was there too! She loved those girls seriously - they were awesome. So awesome. "Hey Lexa!" She smiled. She took a seat and grabbed a mug of steaming hot chocolate. She took her seat - and mug and sat there smiling at everyone.

Melanie let out a little sneeze as she walked towards the Tea Room. It was getting colder already and Melanie was definitely looking forward to somewhere warm to sit and for break to come. But for now there was an SNAC meeting which amused the Gryffindor a lot. The acronym for the club was SNAC... which in Melanie's head sounded a lot like the word snack seeing as it was just missing one letter. Standing outside the room, Melanie could feel the warmth and smell the sweet hot chocolate in the room.
And oh look! Tea. Melanie did love tea.
"Hello Professor," Melanie said, smiling and giving a slight bow of her head to the professor before looking at the others in the room. "Hello to you guys too, Ella, Lex... and... and..." Well... Melanie let the sentence trail off at the end. She couldn't seem to remember the Hufflepuff boy's name... or the Ravenclaw girl's name... she had heard it somewhere or the other but it wasn't coming to mind. Oops. She just gave the other two a warm smile. With that, the sixth year slid into a seat and poured herself a cup of tea, taking a little sip of it.
Her insides felt all warm and fuzzy now... like a teddy bear that had just emerged from the dryer.

Minerva walked into the tea room. She looked around thinking about the evening that she had not listened to Tillstorm come to do homework and instead of doing a tea reading found herself alone with a Goblin. Thank goodness Gwen and Jory had showed up not to far behind her. She wasn't afraid of them, but still.
Now she was there for their first SNAC meeting, but she wondered what they would be doing since most of the supplies were gone. The thought of this really did depress Minerva. She liked Divination and she was excited about this club not only because she liked it, but it wasn't something her and Ethan were doing together. Speaking of him.. he wasn't there yet, well he would be along.
Smiling at Professor Elwood, "Hello Professor, how are you doing?" you know since the Goblins came and robbed you from everything that you held dear for your subject and all. After her greeting Minerva found a place to sit and waited

Yes, yes. Everyone could relax and calm down. Dylan had arrived.
Stepping into the tea room, the Slytherin Captain waved and threw winks/grins at his peers. There was an Ellaphant...and an Alexa. Also, that Melanie girl that was super into tea and weird. Well, it was legit for her to be present. Hopefully she wouldn't attempt to tell her jokes, though. Dylan was sure he couldn't stomach them at the moment.

Oh first SNAC meeting! Aquila quickly made her way towards the tower room, her robes swishing a little short around her ankles. When she got there she peeked around and realized that other students were already there ahead of her. Oh so many interested in the Noble Art just like her “Hello Professor Elwood” she greeted brightly before adjusting her vision to the room around her. Oh, look at that cake! Oh. She’d seen this girl before – but she’d never introduced herself. So when Melanie came in and was smiling and introducing herself to everyone she didn’t mind that she didn’t know her name. It was finally a chance to introduce her self. Right.
“ Really, don’t worry I’d forgot my own name…if you know it wasn’t my name” she flushed at the comment she had said as it was an odd one. But then again she was a few bolts from coming completely loose in general – well, that was how she thought people saw her…and her antics. “I’m Mika – Amelia, really but almost everyone calls me Mika” she smiled at Melon…fruit…it sounded like a fruit with an EEE at the end of it. She was sure. “Mell…oh…knee” yeah she totally just messed that one up. “Its Melanie isn’t it? Or Melon-EEE?” she finally asked out of sheer embarrassment.
And then she spotted Minerva. She had saved her head in class. “Hi Minnie!” She beamed at the girl and waved. “Thanks again for Herbology” she beamed still. And then that Dylan guy came in – it was Dylan wasn’t it? The whole not introducing herself to people had to stop…but right now she was distracted. Ladies…and dude? There was a guy in here? Or was he introducing himself to himself. She blinked a few times and looked around and spotted a rather long-haired person.
“Oh”, she’d totally mistaken Jory for a girl there. “Hi! Evening to you as well…Dylan right?” She nodded sure she got that one right. She’d heard and seen him before – and she’d heard Beezus talk about him…so, well, yeah she was sure this was the elusive Dylan beaux of Beezus. She tilted her head at him for a minute and shrugged. She didn’t see it. Then again she liked people her own age…sure he had nice blond hair – and blond hair was awesome…but she was partial to darker hair. She spotted Aquila as she walked into the room and beamed at her.
“Hey Llywelyn,” she beamed at Aquila. Seriously, she loved her name – both the first and last one. They were just so, so cool. Yeah that was the word. Cool.

Kace was excited to go to the SNAC meeting. He was interested to see what this club was all about. As he got to the Divination room, he noticed how chilly he was. He saw all the other older students and he got shy. He did not know anyone here really but he noticed Minnie but he would let her talk to her friends.
As he made his way to his seat, he smiled to the professor, "Hi Professor Elwood!" and got his tea cake and hot coco. He could use the warmth, he after all had a little body to keep warm. He looked around at everyone chatting to one another and was just happy to observe the classroom.
The tea room was a really nice place to visit. You know, to just sit in and enjoy the atmosphere. Sometimes she felt a little stuffy in it, but today she was really appreciating the vibes in it. Maybe that would help her at the SNAC meeting too, being in the right mindset for it and everything. Even though she had more faith in some forms of divination than others, she was interested in learning more about the subject.
"Hello Professor Elwood," she said sweetly and took a seat next to Minerva. She was a little surprised at some of the student who had chosen to come to the meeting. She waved at Lex and Mika and wondered if Tora or Isobel might come too. She'd been meaning to catch up with them.

As Kat made her way to the tea room, all she could think of was the snacks. Hey... the acronym for this club was SNAC right? It was bound to have snacks too. It would make things better. She knew there was food in the meeting because she could totally SMELL it while climbing up the stairs. Food... food... food... food. It was probably one of the few things running in her mind. Food. The smell. It was... tempting.
"Hello Professor," Kat greeted the older blonde when she arrived at the tea room. Then she decided to take a seat somewhere. A nod for her Captain because... well, he was her captain. That was enough reason. Once she took a seat, she stared at the food on her desk. So... many. Cake, lemonade, tea, hot chocolate. This was a change from the food in the Great Hall. Porridge everyday and every meal. Blek. Kat poured herself a cup of hot chocolate and took a sip. Mmm... she needed that because December was starting to be chilly.

Callie grinned and giggled as the students began to arrive and even had some Divination-related humor, yeah she sees you Alexa! The blonde was so excited for her new little club to take off and it seemed like she had a good turn out so far.
She closed the door all but for a little crack and then walked to stand by one of the darkened windows, grabbing herself a glass of lemonade on the way. "Good evening guys, and welcome to SNAC!" she raised a glass as if toasting them and their Club and smiled once more. She was giddy tonight.
"As you can see the shopkeeper of Madame Puddifoot's was kind enough to give me a group discount for refreshments tonight so next time you're in the village be sure to thank her if you find yourself there." There were some couples in here, no? Heh. "Well, tonight isn't going to be as structured as lessons are since this is a fun, outside of the classroom club, so we will go ahead and start and if anyone else decides to join us, they can quietly slip in the back. Okay?" Right sounded good to her.
She took a seat at one of the tables with the students and spoke again. "So let's start with what each of you like the most about Divination, things you find interesting, things you find confusing that you'd like to learn more about, or anything else you wish to share with the group. Please take turns standing and doing that please." Professor Elwood sat back and sipped her drink.

So many cool people here. Ella approved. She smiled and waved to those that greeted her, excited that many of her friends were in attendance. She'd been so busy lately with everything that any extra hangout time was appreciated. Divination Club hangout time counted too, obviously. Grin.
And then they were starting. The sixteen year old smiled just a little when Madame Puddifoot's was mentioned. She'd had a really nice time there with Alec not too long ago and so yeah, she liked the place. Good memories there. Well...besides the whole Astrid date disaster of last term. That had been interesting. Kind of. Mostly disastrous.
And time to share? The blonde looked around nervously before deciding to just get it over with. Might as well since no one else seemed eager to speak. Ella stood up and smoothed her robes, a nervous smile on her face. "So...I like Divination because it's not anything I've ever studied before Hogwarts and so I learn something new almost every time we have class." And learning new things was pretty neat, yeah? "It also majorly confuses me but I don't mind that part too much. I like the challenge of it and trying to figure it out as we go along." Nodnod. Did that make sense? "And I guess..that's it." BEAM. She'd be sitting down now, okay?
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.
Jory greeted back everyone who had called out to him or acknowledged him in some form. So many people! All the better the discussion! He took another sip of his hot chocolate as the Professor spoke.
He stood up after Ella. "Divination happens to be one of my best subjects,'' the Badger began. "I like it alot because it's very unique and the ways we can learn about the future come in may forms like Tea leaf Reading or even learning about our selves by Studying footprints. Sometimes I get confused and it takes me a while to figure out a new topic especially if I haven't read about it before. But in the end, I always manage to understand.'' That's about it? Yup. "That's all.'' Grin.
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
Lex was enjoying her hot chocolate while she watched the others pour in, all good people too!!! Jory came in right before Mika did and they both got waves. She nodded and grinned at Dylan's greeting, oh oh oh, Aquila too! She BEAMed over at her. That's when she noticed Eliza just a ways off. Oooo!
She sat nomming on the cake, sipping at the hot chocolate between nomming intervals. This was good stuff and rest assured, she was listening...just...highly distracted by the sugar.
Sugar made life a happy place.
Awesome, nothing structured!! Now things were getting even better! By the time the woman was done speaking she was bouncing in her seat to get this started. Was it her turn yet? Yes? OKAY!!!
Alexa shot up from her seat, nearly knocking against the table and spilling her hot chocolate but hah, she didn't, at the last second she caught herself and proceeded to bounce a bit as she spoke. "I think the whole idea of Divination is a rather curious one, like...what makes it true? Who determines what you see and what it means? Are there some kind of gods that sit up there and when they get bored enough they drop something like...let's say the grim in a nervous, widowed, old man's afternoon salad just for laughs? You know, makes me wonder stuff like that, helps keep my mind occupied and I think that's what I like most. It leaves me wondering more about stuff--oh but I don't appreciate shoddy readings that have nothing nice to say about me."
Juuuuust saying.
With that she grinned at everyone, beamed at the Professor then took her seat once more. Back to the SUGAR. This would go great with some ice-cream.

Okay, like... he wasn't late. He was fashionably delayed and 'sides it wasn't like he was in a RUSH to get here anyway... except of course that the really hot blonde Professor was heading this. Smirk, yeah one guess as to why Ascanius Stark was there. Times up. Got it? Good.
Good thing though that as soon as he slipped in the whole shebang was starting. Oh good, he didn't need to deal with all the awkward hellos and stuff to his peers that he didn't ACTUALLY care about minus the girls. Yeah.
So he sat down and listened to the pretty!Professor talk about this, that and the other thing. Although, he was almost certain he had heard her say that they could say anything else you wish to share with the group. Yeah, see he was gonna take that at face value. You know, ANYTHING he wanted to share with the group.
Stark stood up from his seat and threw into the mix, "It's cold outside, Professor." Bam. He sat back down. What? THAT was what he wanted to share.
