Default The Staff Room

As you wander down the Hallways you notice a new door along the Eastern wall. Was it there last term? Quite possibly....as you approach the door you see a notice attached which reads:

Quote:
Attention All Students!

This is the Staff Room. Under no circumstance should a student pass through this door. Any student caught on the other side will be sent to detention immediately, no questions asked! Continous violations could result in suspention!
Being a curious student you try the doorknob....locked! Well, better not try again or risk detention....

Airey rooooooooooooolled his eyes at the groundskeeper, but didn't bother responding. Didn't blame it on him but told the kid that he had put the man up to it. Looked like blame to this astronomer. Especially since he hadn't told the man explicitly to go out there and prank a student. But he wasn't going to respond to him out loud. Just sit here in his seat grumbling to himself and focus his attention on the Potions Mistress' lips.

More pointed looks towards the man though. "I think ashwinder egg sales should go towards Care of Magical Creatures if we are keeping things within the area the fundraising was made." Unless AliSTAR was implying that Herbology was numero uno and should get both fundraiser's funds. Ironic since he was pretty sure the bloke had googly eyes for the Creatures professor.

Cue more ice cream being shoved into his mouth.

And then his head snapped around to LeoBALD. "You mean...you've had telescopes all along and never told me?" Airey asked, gaw wide open and a glob of ice cream falling out of it and onto the desk. Ooops. He would clean that up. He could have really used those, especially last lesson when he wanted students to build more advanced telescopes using old ones. Way to go, Mr. Librarian.

He needed more ice cream to deal with this sad sad thought.

And then Calista was going on about missing her marbles. Or implying that she was missing them. Divination was the last place funding needed to go as far as he was concerned, but he was too busy eating his ice cream to comment. Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuumy ice cream.

Fina saw that look of disapproval at her tardiness from both the Headmistress and the Deputy, but did she care? Not really. Besides, Bellaire arrived after her, which did make her feel slightly better about being late.

No locking kids in their common rooms, but just be vigilant about students out of bed after hours. Why? Had something happened? No Hufflepuffs died that she knew of .... so that was a plus. She listened as Annie ratted off things for each of them to do... her, talk to her prefects about patrol days, but nothing else.

Seminar. She waited a moment. Others volunteered so that was good.

And now onto the most important part of the meeting. The financial state of the school. Perusing the list over what was taken from the vault as well as what was taking from Hogwarts recently, she had to gloat inwardly for a moment that Arithmancy wasn't a subject that had anything terribly valuable, except for some cursed objects which only had merit to a cursebreaker really. She did wonder why a thief would find use in the Hogwarts deed or official school charter. Neither one seemed very valuable, but maybe to a historian or collector . . .

"I think it's rather selfish to think that just because money was raised by one subject, means that fundraiser money can only be used for that subject." Fina pointed out quietly. She didn't really want to get into any arguments, but some stuff, like portraits or the courtyard fountain, didn't have a subject corresponding to it, so how were they to have a fundraiser for them? "I mean Hogwarts is hurting all over, so wouldn't it be fair to consider whats the most important to have back and use the monies to buy stuff back in that order. I think the hospital wing amenities are pretty important and it's bad enough that we only have Cecelia part-time, but to have her struggling with a poor working place when she's here would just be even worse." Just her two knuts worth.

Crystal balls could wait. There were other - more superior - means to divine than putting your energies into a piece of glass.

When the Headmistress passed around the lists of what the school had lost in the robbery, Ivy took a quick look at the list and then clasped her hands in her lap. Interesting.

At first, she didn't have anything to add, and she was somewhat distracted by the unusual state of Hecate's lips. That was rather odd...

And then the Healer spoke. Sigh. Ivy listened to her speak with an expression that didn't seem too amused. She was about to speak up, but Erik beat her to it. Good man, Vinteren.

"Mr. Vinteren is right," Ivy added, just in case it helped the healer sleep at night. "The case of the robbery is in the hands of the Magical Law Enforcement and I'm sure they will let the Board of Governors know if and when they find anything out." Her voice was patient, but her mind was not.

Her attention was then turned to the disagreement about the Herbology funds. Particularly to Josephina and her remarks. "And what have you done to fundraise? Or any of you?" Ivy looked at the others in the room. "Most of you haven't held your own fundraisers, so I do believe that calling Seren selfish would be like the pot calling the kettle black." She wasn't accusing Josephina directly, but anyone who hadn't held fundraisers like Seren had.

"I think it's only fair for Seren to keep her fundings for her subject," Ivy concluded, giving the herbology professor a look approval. From one plant lady to another. Mhm.

Annie sat back and listened, for once, to the opinions of her staff and the two governors present. Privately, she agreed that they ought to be doing a LOT more to help the school out of their problems, especially since it was all THEIR treasurer's fault that the vault was emptied!

She kept these thoughts to herself, for now, and instead weighed over who should get funds where. "Well, if you ask me, Seren, I think the funds raised by Herbology should go to Herbology," she held up her to show that she wasn't done yet, "and the funds raised by the Ashwinder sale should likewise stay in with Care of Magical Creatures. That being said," she checked her paper again, "with the funds raised elsewhere in the castle and through the prefect's event, we should still be able to restore the hospital wing... for the most part." Happy, Healer?

She didn't even mention how clueless Leobald was seeming when he spoke up. Withholding crystal balls? AND telescopes? Merlin... she just shook her head.

"One more thing..." the redhead shifted in her chair, suddenly tired of sitting. "I think we've raised enough funds to remove MOST of the payment centers by the end of the year. Definitely the ones by the Great Hall, common rooms, and so on. However, in order to stay afloat for next term," she shifted some parchments around, "I believe we should still have fees for extracurriculars, for the library, astronomy tower, potions lab, and anywhere else we think needs them."

The Headmistress glanced around the group at large. "If there are no further objections or discussions to be had, I think this meeting is over."

A grin was visible on her face when the second year old, (almost third year old) when she walked calmly toward the staff room. She didn't wanted to pay any attention to herself, she even hoped that nobody saw her when she walked toward the staff room! She had her hello kitty schoolbag in her hand and nobody knew what she had done to her bag. She had bewitched it with a spell so that she could put EVERYTHING in it what she wanted! It had been difficult to use the spell and she had tried it for almost a whole day, but it had worked eventually! Yes, of course it had worked, she was a smart girl and she KNEW that if she wanted something she would get it, so there was no difference in using a simple spell! Her mom had learned her not much, but WHAT she had learned was that she NEVER was allowed to give up on something she wanted, and she knew that her mom had been right, so she had listened! (And that was something she almost NEVER did, listening to her mom, so this was a special moment....)

She now stopped before the door from the staff room but searched for a dark corner where she could work and without any teacher of student who could see her and would disturb her. She sat down on the floor and zipped her hello kitty schoolbag open and grabbed a pink bucket, it was a simple bucket and she knew that a lot students could have the same bucket as she had because she had bought it in the Diagon Alley during her last break. She grabbed her wand and pointed it at the bucket and spoke the spell she had been practicing for almost a whole week in a soft whisper, "AGUA-menti." She made a flick with her wand and a soft blue flash had been visible for a few seconds and she saw that the spell worked! Her grin widened when she saw that the bucket filled itself with cold water!

She waited a few minutes until the bucket had been filled and she looked around her if she was still alone before she walked toward the door. She placed her ear against the door, listening if there were a lot teachers inside, and when knew that it was safe she opened VERY careful and so silent as possible the door, she pointed her wand at the bucket and used the spell she had learned in her first year and she let the bucket fly. She sent the bucket to the top side of the door and placed it right above the open door, ready fall down if somebody would open the door further! She now had really trouble to not laugh out loud and covered her mouth with her hand. She zipped her hello kitty bag close and knocked loud enough on the door so that somebody would open it and ran away! She wasn't stupid enough to stay and to see if her joke would work and to be caught, no, if it had worked she would hear it eventually... she had learned from West that she needed to be smart enough to not get caught if she wanted to do something, a wise lesson she would never forget!

When she was safe and away from the staff room she laughed. She thought that it was funny to made a joke and she wanted to do it again if she had the chance.

Ice crept upon the open windows as mist started to roll into the room. Not a few seconds later did a dementor push a window open further, swooping inside. And then another and another until the room was swarming with dementors. At last. They were inside the castle.

Rattle rattle rattle.

Noticing a light from behind the semi-closed door, they glided towards it, eager to get on with their mission. CLUNK! Rattle rattle? A frozen bucket of water came down upon one of the dementors as it opened the door. Pairs of scabby hands appeared while horrifying noises came from their mouths, ready to grab whichever being decided to set this up and suck out their soul, but unfortunately, there were none. Here at least.

RATTLE RATTLE RATTLE RATTLE.

The angry dementors flew out the door and further into the castle.
