Barlow's hut. This way, you'll know where your character is RPing.
Professor Barlow has spent the summer doing quite a bit of rearranging in the hut she'll now call her home. The main difference is that she's separated her personal living quarters from her office, although both are still inside the hut.
There are now two entrances to the hut: one that leads to her personal living quarters and another that leads only to her office. If you're a student, you'll be entering through the door that leads only to her office, which means you probably won't get the privilege of seeing the other parts of the hut. After all, this is how you visit all the other professors, right?
The office itself isn't very big, but Professor Barlow has charmed it to appear to be a reasonable size. There are no barn animals or winged horses in here, and the office looks quite similar to what you'd expect of most other offices. There's a desk for Professor Barlow, as well as another chair for any visitors that may stop by. There's a bookcase, a filing cabinet, a few indoor plants, and a wall full of personal pictures. All in all, the place is, in a sense, decorated nicely, and you can tell the place has what they call a 'woman's touch'.
So if you can't seem to find the new Care of Magical Creatures professor outside and with the animals, try your luck with the office. Peyton is an outdoors-type person, but who knows? She just might be inside.

It took a very conscious effort for her to not bounce with every other step but finally she got to the hut. Somehow...it looked...different. Lex walked over to the door she assumed she was meant to knock at and gave it a few taps. "Professor?" She knocked again then took a seat on the bench with her kneazle cradled in her arms. Pooooor baby.
Peyton was, for once, indoors and inside her office. She had a lot of things to take care of in the Sanctuary and the barn, but she had lessons to write now, too. That part was new to her. At the Center, all she did was work with the creatures all day. The children? Yup, that was a different story altogether.
She was just getting started on planning her very first lesson, when she heard a knock coming from the other side of the door. A student? Already? ...but she hadn't even taught them a lesson yet. Hmm. She hadn't expected them to come so early, but--maybe it was the groundskeeper or something? She had asked him to stop by.
Just in case, she smoothed out her hair a bit and headed for the door. Opening it, she saw--no, not Ali, but a student...with a kneazle. Her eyes flickered from owner to creature then back again. "Well, come in then," she said, brushing back a lose strand of hair. Peyton wasn't overly friendly but wasn't a force to be reckoned with either. She thought it was an appropriate enough greeting for the girl. "I'm Professor Barlow," she said, walking toward her desk. Taking the seat behind it, she looked up at the girl with a look that seemed to ask, 'Well, what is it?'

Lex gave the Professor a small smile when she was invited inside and followed her in. Felix was still refusing to do too much movement, choosing to swat at nothing every now and then.
The woman had sat but she wasn't really sure if she'd be allowed to because she wasn't exactly invited to so she opted to stand with the Kneazle still cradled. Professor Barlow, she'd have to remember that. "I'm Alexa Cambridge." Second time saying this to a Professor today, hopefully this wouldn't go bad too.
"I came here about my kneazle." She said holding up the somewhat disinterested creature.
Looooooook at him. Tail barely swinging anymore and he was kinda clingy too. Something had to be wrong and it was ALL HEERRRR fault. "He's been wand handled ma'am," SEVERELY wand-handled, " like held dangling in the air and such--you should have seen him screeching and the Professor didn't even care, then she dropped him!" HER baby was dropped. "I don't suppose he's injured but...I don't know, he's been acting kinda odd after, like hardly wanting to move, wobbling, clinging to most things. Should I be worried? Can you fix him?" Will her Daddy have to sue???????

"First of all, Miss Cambridge, who are we referring to, and why did she wand-handle your kneazle?" Peyton asked. Details, details. "Professor....Professor...uh..." You think she'd have gotten the name but then, she didn't know it when she ran into her earlier so there wasn't much for remembering. "Um...the new Charms Professor...the one I didn't vote for in the Board of Governors election." Well actually she could have left out that last part because there were a lot of them that she didn't vote for. What do you expect when you don't bribe her with candy?
"And I have no idea why. I was trying to catch up with him and I didn't see her--honest I didn't! But then I knocked right into her and I tried explaining but she wouldn't listen she just flicked her wand and had him floating around, claw at thinks and hissing." She didn't appreciate it one bit. Oh and now they were talking about kneazles and that neat trick they did. She figured that out ages ago.
"I know they do, that's why I don't think the fall hurt him, it doesn't make dropping him right, especially right after wand-handling him the way she did." And without another word she gently handed him over. Not too fast or he'd probably start freaking out again. He'd better not get nightmares after this.

THAT was the name. Lex nodded. It sounded familiar enough and it was the only name that was ringing a bell. Good thing too. She'd hate to walk into the woman's class without knowing her name. As for the question. "We sorta did but it was more like a popularity vote. Only students who were old enough really got to vote." She would have been upset about it too but then she realized being of age meant taking care of yourself and quite frankly she wasn't interested. She rather liked having her Daddy do everything.
Her mouth fell open as she got set to protest. What reason would anyone ever have for wand-handling her baby?? Didn't she have her own cats to torture. "She didn't. I'm the one who ran into her. Felix didn't do a thing to her."..................So maybe she only ran into the woman because she was chasing the kneazle but all that shouldn't have mattered!
She paused to consider the question. "I'd be real upset." Understatement really but she wouldn't elaborate on that in the presence of a Professor, especially one who hadn't had the chance to think the worst of her!
"Is...is that all...?" She looked over at Felix, the kneazle still made very little in the way of movement. "Oh. I suppose I've wasted your time then." She said quietly. Though not on purpose--she really treasured the little guy.

Peyton settled back in her chair, folded her hands in front of her, and smirked. "You're a Gryffindor, Cambridge. Should you really be worried about where to approach her?" she asked, never really answering the girl's question. She'd let that thought hang in the air for a while.
At the sound of the next question, Peyton shrugged. "No, not really. You can't exactly change a creature's natural habits, but as a pet owner, you have to be responsible for watching them and trying to keep things under control," she answered. Now that was more of a direct answer, unlike the first answer she gave the girl.
"Well, if that's all then, I'll let the next student in," she said. Poor girl. Seemed as if she'd been out there for weeks. (OOC: )
This was the moment she had waited for, she now could ask professor Barlow for her help! Little princess would be fine after this! “You will be fine" said Sonea to her rat while she walked inside the office and shifted nervously on her feet. She had never before been in the office from professor Barlow, the only office she had only visited was from professor Flamsteed, and that was not because she had a problem with something like now. The young girl smiled nervously at the professor, “thank you for letting me in, professor.”
She looked around her and was surprised, this office was not what she had expected, she had expected to see gages with small animals and other school stuff, but none of those things were inside the office. But… that was not important now, she wanted to know what is wrong with her rat, Little princess!
“Professor, will you look at my rat Little princess? She has become so fat in the fast few weeks and I haven’t given her nothing more to eat than usually, she also is sulky the last few days!” The young girl looked down at her rat and wondered what she had dode wrong. “I have let Little princess exercise more but also that has not worked, she only become fatter!”
The young girl suddenly wondered if Little princess had become sick in the Diagon Alley when she had run away from her. “I think that something happened with Little princess in the Diagon Alley, she had run away from me with a other rat and I have searched a whole hour for Little princess to get her back! After that she had become sick like this and i'm sure that someting has happened with her there, or she had eaten someting wrong…” Sonea stopped with talking and hoped that she had explained enough for the professor to know what was wrong…

She looked around her and was surprised, this office was not what she had expected, she had expected to see gages with small animals and other school stuff, but none of those things were inside the office. But… that was not important now, she wanted to know what is wrong with her rat, Little princess!
“Professor, will you look at my rat Little princess? She has become so fat in the fast few weeks and I haven’t given her nothing more to eat than usually, she also is sulky the last few days!” The young girl looked down at her rat and wondered what she had dode wrong. “I have let Little princess exercise more but also that has not worked, she only become fatter!”
The young girl suddenly wondered if Little princess had become sick in the Diagon Alley when she had run away from her. “I think that something happened with Little princess in the Diagon Alley, she had run away from me with a other rat and I have searched a whole hour for Little princess to get her back! After that she had become sick like this and i'm sure that someting has happened with her there, or she had eaten someting wrong…” Sonea stopped with talking and hoped that she had explained enough for the professor to know what was wrong…
Ahh, a Slytherin. Now these were the thye of people Peyton could relate to.
Peyton glanced over toward the girl and simply nodded when she was thanked for letting her in. It wasn't like this was some generous gift of hospitality, though. She was being paid to do this, after all. Nevermind that.
Suddenly, Peyton laughed. Not a full on laugh, but rather a laugh because she knew exactly what was going on just by the girl's story alone. Nevertheless, she reached for the rat. "I didn't catch your name," she pointed out as she looked over the rat.
She'd tell the girl what was "wrong" with the rat just as soon as she got the name. It'd give her some time to make sure she was right, too.

Little princess was sick and professor Barlow wanted to know her name? “I’m Sonea Duvessa” said Sonea proudly while she lifted her chin up and waited for the professor to tell her what was wrong. “Do I need to give her some medicine? Her sickness isn’t dangerous, right?”
A silvery Eagle swooped through the window, late in the morning, with a message to professor Barlow from professor Botros saying, 'A frightened unicorn was found in the Grounds near the forest. Please, join us there for help.'

"Well, Miss Duvessa," she said, holding the rat in her palm and then handing it back to the girl, "it seems congratulations are in order. Your rat is going to have babies." She sat back in her chair and smiled. "There's really nothing you need to do and nothing you can do. The rat will just naturally know what to do. It's all in it's nature." She shrugged then added, "Just try not to worry too much and don't expect too much of her. Let her rest when she wants to, and if she doesn't want to play, don't make her." She wasn't too sure if the rat actually played, but who knew.

Peyton was in her office grading the last of the homework assignments from lesson one, when the sound of swooping wings brought her attention to the window. Accepting the letter, she read it quickly, eyes growing wide in the process.
This wasn't her unicorn was it? The one she'd brought from the reserve?!
Nevermind that. It didn't matter either way. She left her quill on her desk and hurried out the door.
Congrats… “What!?” The young girl looked now really confused and stared with her mouth open at professor Barlow. How did this happen? And when? “Is the blue rat the… daddy?” The young girl slapped her forehead and felt how her cheeks started to burn from the shame, how did she NOT know this? She really had thought that… Little princess was just… the young girl had troubles to accept what she just had heard, her pretty Little princess was pregnant! “Oh no…” said Sonea in a whisper and covered her mouth her right hands while she held Little princess in her left hand and stared in shock at the small animal.
“But.. But… What is going to happen when she DOESN’T know what she need to do? This is the first, and hopefully, the last time that she would become a mommy and… I’m sure that she doesn’t know what to do, she is just too young to know what she need to do! And…” The young girl was really worried about her rat and was SURE that she needed some help, but the professor had told her that she couldn’t do anything!

Creatures are different from humans in that they don't often know or even have an affection towards the other creatures they share children with. I'd say the blue rat is a good possibility, though."

"It's also likely she'll go away for a bit during the birth, so you may not even know it's happened until you see her with a pack of tiny rats."

So no, Sonea REFUSED to believe that Little princess wouldn’t care about her babies or that she would not know that the babies were hers!

"Finding different owners is a good idea, and if nobody from another house takes you up on your offer, you can always ask your parents for help. They'll help you, yes?"
