The Office of Professor Bentley Banner by the lovely and amazing sweetpinkpixie.
|
Beezus gently rapped her knuckles against the door of the Herbology Professor's office ar around 3 that afternoon. Not too early, but not too late either. Professor Bentley did say that she was free from 2 pm to 4 pm that day in the reply that Beezus got after she sent an owl to the woman requesting for an appointment. Knock. Knock. Knock. Then she waited, grasping gently the handle of the small basket that she was holding which contained three apples. Square apples. Hmm. |
It was no use... she couldn't concentrate, the paperwork would have to wait till tomorrow. Dropping her quill on her desk and placing the pile of parchment into a document wallet, Seren released a sigh. Before she could even open her daily planner to see what mgiht be next on the agenda, there was a knock at the door. A glance at her pendant watch told her it may be her first appointment for the term. Brilliant! SPOILER!!: Beatrice Approaching her office door, Seren pulled it ajar. "Beatrice, perfect timing, please come in," she greeted, motioning for her to enter. And oooohh... where those apples?! She spied the basket. |

Snap! Whoa. Fanged Geranium alert. "They look really healthy." Grin. Beezus looked around as she breathed in the soothing scent of peppermint and flowers. It's been a while since she had visited this office. She got rather caught up last term and it took a while for her to adjust to the new set of responsibilities and such. There were a bunch of new things now. New and wonderful things at that. "By the way, Professor...these are for you." she couldn't help herself when she eyed the woman's tummy before she extended her arm that was clutching the small basket. |
SPOILER!!: Beatrice Seren beamed. Of course they looked healthy, she wouldn't be doing her job right if they weren't, "... I don't think they'll ever outgrow their playfulness," she mused. "Oh thank you," Seren replied, taking the square apples. How delightful! "I.... er, we... definitely appreciate them," she added, having noticed the Ravenclaw glance at her bump. The apples would definitely satisfy some of those cravings. "Please, have a seat, it's been so long since we've talked. How ave you been?" Edging around her desk, Seren sank into her own seat, placing the apples on her desk. |
SPOILER!!: Professah! Beezus nodded and beamed at the woman who looked looked prettier and happier than the last time she saw her, she was exuding a very bright aura too. A good deviation from the frustrating environment the brunette had outside of that office, courtesy of the ever annoying turnstiles. Oh...and we?! Beam!MentalFlail!Squeal! Gosh. "You're welcome, Professor." Everybody knew her obsession with babies, right? And yea, she was grinning stupidly now. "They say the square apples are more nutritious than the usual ones and apparently acts as some sort of supplement to one's magical characteristics." Also, "Um...is it a girl?" Inward flailflailflail. She descended into a seat, tucked hair behind her ear and laced her fingers together on her lap. "I know, maa'm. Got a little stuck with things, I suppose." You know, teenage problems...plus OWLs. "I've been great, Professor. A little sick but.....getting better. And you, maa'm? How's it like?" Being married and preggy and all. |
SPOILER!!: Beatrice "Oh of course, it's an indication that they're not only healthy, but happy as well." Which was super duper important, especially when keeping them as companions. Besides, they were just so cute, and they did the darndest things sometimes. Seren nodded, the girl certainly knew her apples, though Seren preferred to consider their flavour and aesthetics than their properties, there were times when analysing things became tedious. She couldn't help but beam at Beatrice's spontaneous question. "Not sure yet, we're thinking of keeping it a surprise..." thinking, though, perhaps it would be nice to know in advance. Maybe. Despite the girls sudden fondness for calling her ma'am, Seren was reminded of their previous discussions, it really was a shame they couldn't catch up last term. "Well I'm glad to see you're doing better," she nodded. "I've been well, keeping busy... and, I guess I won't ever stop being busy now," she chuckled. If she wasn't teaching kids, she'd be raising one, and those things were never easy... it was a good thing they were worth it. |
Mack took a deep breath before knocking on Professor Bentley's office door, she had sent an owl back that she would be free during the day today so she hoped that she wasn't too busy now. she knocked on the door This was the first time she had ever visited a professor's office. |
different timeline to Beatrice She'd been crouching, rather awkwardly, by her fanged geraniums and giving them a generous spray of chamomile tea when she was startled by the knocking at her door. Merlin! Eyeing the time, she supposed it could only be her next appointment. Quote:
|
SPOILER!!: Prof. Bentley Mack walked in smiling, looking around and smiling at how inviting the room looked, she walked over to one of the stools and sat, the colors around the room flowed together wonderfully. The small blonde smiled up at the professor, and watched as she sat a spray bottle of what looked like tea on a stand. "Professor, is that tea you were spraying on that plant?" Mack asked with a quizzical expression, she wondered why you would spray tea on a plant.. |

Seren claimed her seat, her elbows on the hardwood desk and her fingers laced together. "So what can I do for you today?" she asked the young Lion. |
SPOILER!!: Teething... yikes! The look that crossed Mack's face when the professor mentioned the teething plant was one of shock, she knew that plants could teeth of course but still what if it tried to bite her or worse, did bite her. But soon she forgot about the fanged geraniums, Professor Bentley wanted to get straight down to business which was some thing that Mack liked. No need to beat around the bush. "Umm yes, I had a few questions... Firstly, what exactly could I do to clean the sheets in the dormitories?" They really were awful, even when you did get rid of the dust. She started to ask her next question bu decided to wait on it, she wasn't exactly sure how to word her question. |
SPOILER!!: Professah! So. Baby talk. "Oh. You don't want to know ahead, Professor? But you would like to have a girl, right?" Because you know...baby girls were the best. Her baby cousin, Euphy and Dylan's baby sister, Charlotte, were prime examples of that. Beezus shifted on her seat a bit. It was a good thing Professor Bentley didn't ask her further about her summer. She really wasn't sure how she'd break off things to anyone. "Nope. You won't stop being busy now indeed, maa'm. " Chuckling, she tucked some hair behind her ear and leaned forward slightly. "And I apologize if I'm adding to your already busy schedule Professor, but....I'd like to remind you of that apple planting plans you've mentioned?" She hoped the woman didn't forget. |
Quote:
But of course... a school funding issue... or a lack of house elves issue more like it. "Well of course, you're welcome to scourgify your sheets as often as you please, but for a proper clean you will need to wait until our official laundry days, in fact, the noticeboard will have more information in that respect..." she still hadn't figured out how she was supposed to help exactly, though supervision was always required. Kitridge could figure out the rest. Quote:
"For now I'm happy to just let nature take its course, I wouldn't want to get too ahead of myself." Because no doubt, if she knew the gender of the child, she'd be shopping until her own Gringotts account was emptied. "I think I'd be happy with either..." girls were sweet, but boys had a charm all of their own. It was a good thing Beatrice kept the conversation going, because she'd lost herself in thought... all this baby business was muddling her brain that's for sure. "I haven't forgotten," she reassured, "... I'm calling in a favour and getting a spruce sent out hopefully soon..." depending on how long it took her mother to get organised, "but as soon as we're set to go, I'll let you know." |
Quote:
Now that was a sure thing. She nodded at the woman when at her reassuring words. "...Oh. Alright then, Professor. You can call me up anytime." It was safe to say that the brunette was keen on having those apple trees planted. Professor Bentley had obviously taken a liking to the fruit and having a few trees of it around would definitely be good for the baby, plus, there was quite a possibility they could sell the apples afterwards to help the funding for the school. She was actually excited for it now. |
SPOILER!!: first question answered The blonde smiled when she heard they were having a laundry, this would help so much, even with scourgify her bed still felt dirty. "Oh! Good, I can't wait for those days then. Professor there was one other question.." The small girl blushed, she hoped the Professor wouldn't get mad at her for asking. "How much in debt is the school in? I only ask because when it comes to education my grandparents know no bounds, and they are very wealthy... they could make a substantial donation if they only knew how much." She avoided the woman's eyes, looking anywhere but her. She sighed, there she had finally said it. She knew that her grans probably had enough to completely fund Hogwarts, but of course it wasn't just up to them. |
EXCITED. That's what Alice was when she showed up at the door of Bentley's office bright and early in the morning with a basket covered by a little rag thing. Anyone who'd seen her coming down to the Greenhouses would have probably thought she was set to ask more questions about the school's dinginess to her Head of House, but no, she was long over that. There were different topics she had in mind now, possibly more bothersome ones, but that didn't matter. Her hand went up to knock against the door gently as she rocked back on her heels, waiting for it to opened. Word on the street was that Bentley kept fanged geraniums in there, and Alice was keeping her distance, k? The only thing doing any biting around here was her. |
Lost track of the day, whoops! After a walk around the grounds Jake made his way to Professor Bentley's office. He was pretty sure he was on time... maybe a little earlier. Or late. But close. Nobody was waiting by the door, though, so he figured that was a good sign. Unless Ira was already inside the office. Still, Jake knocked on the door. He wasn't sure if he should just walk in or not, since he had an appointment, but he would feel weird doing that anyway so he just waited for an invitation inside. |
Ira trudged up to the greenhouses, after having completed her homework and stuffs already. Seeing Jake already there by the door to Bentley's office, she waved, "Hey Jake!" She wasn't late, was she? "Did you knock already?" Oh he must have done so already! What a stupid thing to ask.. of course he must have knocked. He wouldn't just wait for nothing, right? |
sorry for the delay, I've been ill :( Quote:
"I'll have to stop by at the end of term feast to say hello and show him... or her... off." If she'd had it her way, she wouldn't be taking much time off work at all, but for the baby's sake, and for Aron's, she would. "Oh of course, I'll let you know as soon as it arrives.. it'll be nice to have some treats in the student garden." Never mind the fact that it's the student garden, she had the right to impose her presence on the place. Quote:
How much? Were they in debt... "I'm afraid I can't say..." not that she knew the exact sum anyway... "though it is substantial... hence the drastic measures." She wasn't at all surprised about the donation offer, but it really wouldn't be fair to expect students and families to make substantial donations. “Well if they're willing to assist... I suggest you see the Headmistress about the matter, she'd be able to give you more information.” Quote:
“Coming!” she called out, easing herself from her chair and making her way over to the door. “Alice, come in!” she grinned, as she swung open the door to reveal the Gryffindor. Quote:
Quote:
A knock on her door caught her attention, and she moved glacially, or as glacially as was possible to answer it, a catalogue still clutched in her palm. Swinging the door back on its hinges, she smiled at the site of her prefects, though she could just imagine what they wanted to discuss.. “Ira, Jacob.. please come in, make yourselves comfortable.” |
:3 Quote:
Shrinking down. "Erm, sorry for those questions...Professor. I'm just curious." A Ravenclaw, she was. But on a happier note, the woman will let her know when the apple seeds will arrive and then they can start planting. Splendid. "Yes, thanks maa'm." ........ "Well, I think I should get going now." Since she'd been there for almost an hour now and surely, Professor Bentley had things to do. She, herself had homeworks to work on. |
Oh no! I hope you're better now!! Quote:
Mack knew that this would probably be the professor's reply, but the only reason she had asked her was because the headmistress scared her. But she would probably have to go see her, if her grandparents knew the current situations at Hogwarts then they would probably pull her and make her come home immediately. sigh "Professor Bentley, there is one last question that isn't only my own, but several other students as well.. how exactly could the house elves leave? Wouldn't the Headmistress be their master? So they have to obey her?" Again it was a rather invasive question but she felt the students should know, why should they be kept in the dark? It was their school after all.. How would the staff like it if the students did something without telling them. She gave a nasty look in her head. yep, that's how they'd like it. |
All good, hope you're doing okay <3 Quote:
She was welcome. "So, professor, did you know my OWLs are coming up? I'm a fifth year now. And I've heard from some older students that there are some.. certain plants I should be more.. thoroughly educated about," Alice informed her. She had to choose her words extra carefully, considering most of this stuff was being made up on the spot. "And, you know, I figured the best way to help myself learn was maybe to see one of the certain plants." Innocent looks for you, Bentley. |
really hope I can post this here ;) A silvery badger patronus bursts into the office in search of Professor Bentley. Upon finding her, it opens its mouth, speaking in the voice of the Ravenclaw prefect.. "Professor.. A goblin has broken into Greenhouse Eight and is attempting to take the plants there. A few of us are trying to stop her, but we need your help.." |
SPOILER!!: Beatrice Seren couldn't help but smile, a hand subconsciously gliding over her bump. "The official due date is the seventh of April... I'll try to stay on board as long as I can." Because frankly she didn't want to leave the greenhouses, or her students, never mind her Lions. Merlin. If she could, she'd move Aron into the castle. The replacement? "Errr.... that is yet to be decided." Or at least, she had no knowledge of that. "It's perfectly fine," she nodded. It was nice to know the students cared enough to ask, cared as much as she cared about them. "Well thank you for stopping by, I'll send an owl once the spruce is here," she added with a wink. SPOILER!!: Mackenzie It seemed as though the girl understood.. and it seemed as though she wasn't quite done with her appointment yet. Seren smiled. It always warmed her heart to see inquisitive students. "Well that's a good question, now I can't go into much detail, but money was not the only thing stolen from the schools vaults... " and that was all she was going to say on the matter. Besides, the Headmistress didn't own the house elves, the school did... literally, did. SPOILER!!: Alice Aside from it being a delight to see her amazing Captain, it was equally delightful to see the gift of apples. "Oh indeed, an apple a day keeps the healer away..." she mused as she examined them. "And none quite so well as these." It was truly a lovely offering, "...thank you." Gesturing for Alice to take a seat, Seren listened to her queries. OWL's... yes... it was a trying time for most students. First big exams... challenging stuff too. Seren nodded at all the right times, then paused to consider how best to answer the question. "Well... you'll need a thorough knowledge of care requirements, this is inclusive of harvesting and cultivation methods...." for starters... "though you will find that they like to challenge you during your practicals, so Flitterbloom and Devils Snare are good places to start, you know, identifying plants..." which wasn't so bad, really. "... then there are your puffapods, fireseeds, bubotubers..." just to name a few. She paused to let these sink in, but she didn't want to overwhelm the girl. "The Herbology curriculum is based around three key principles... identification and caution, care and maintenance... and lastly uses. Have a strong understanding of these, and you'll be fine." SPOILER!!: PATRONUS!!!... this be at a different time to others Cup raised to her lips, Seren's attention was torn from her planner, to the badger patronus that entered her office. What in the name of..... Seren placed her cup haphazardly on its saucer, tea spilling onto her desk, as she hauled herself out of her seat and dashed for the door. Nobody took her plants, NOBODY. |
