 Feel like looking at some stars? You've come to the right place. From here in the Hogwarts Observatory you can see a tiny fraction of the 400 billion or so stars found in the Milky Way Galaxy. This circular but spacious room has been locked and opened as many times as there have been Astronomy professors staffed at the school.
EXCEPT THERE ARE NO TELESCOPES BECAUSE THEY WERE REPOSSESSED BY GOBLINS!!
Best be cleaning those before using them.
Large star charts are pinned to the walls which anyone is free to study for own leisure or school assignment. Don't try and take the charts down though, as they are charmed to warn if somebody tries to remove them.
Stargazing is an activity best practiced at night and therefore the observatory remains unlocked. Students adhere by a curfew and after that hour no students should be found out of bed. If you desire to study the heavens after curfew, you need a signed note from Professor Flamsteed showing that you are allowed to stay up after hours. If caught after hours without a signed note you can expect that there will be consequences like loss of house points or detention.
The observatory is place for scientific inquiry much like the library is a place to immerse yourself in books, since it’s a shrine to our massively beautiful universe. Please respect any professor or student spending time in the observatory by not running around or shouting in high pitched voices. Just because Professor Flamsteed isn't currently in the observatory doesn't mean he isn't watching what is going on.
OOC: you do not HAVE to RP your character asking permission from Professor Flamsteed in his office before posting here after hours and may pretend that you received permission. Also, please keep in mind that while looking at the stars can be a romantic endeavor, that is not the purpose of the observatory and any mischief may result in points being deducted or detention.

nevermind Anya was screaming for him twenty minutes ago..
"STOLEN!" she said to Dylan but looking at the professor " a goblin came in here and STOLE them, ALL, she didn't have ANY papers either, then she Pushed anya and I down to get away."
Also, where was her ID card, did the goblin take that TOO!? she began to feel her pockets, slowly

Sassy Slytherin is Sassy.
Nigel could understand that getting hit over by a goblin would made someone mad. But man was she angry. Her voice was a little annoying. But it hardly matter with her yelling at him. Nigel could care less about the telescopes. Unless Flamsteed showed up and blamed it on us. That would be bad.
So it was goblins. Well that explained hardly anything. Why were goblins here in hogwarts. Where they like repp goblins or something. That's just silly. "Okay, Okay. Calm Down."
Then when he was about to ask her about the telescopes. Another Slytherin walked in. Nigel knew he was the Captain. But that was about it. "Ask her. I dont know. I got here a second before you. But we should be quick. Flamsteed will probably blame this on us. Since we are here and there is no goblins."
Right after he spoke with the captain. Flamsteed arrived and he was blaming it on us. Just like Nigel thought. Nigel was not even sure if they had identification cards for Hogwarts. "It was the goblins. Ask anyone here." Nigel said looking at everyone there in the observatory.

Really, Phillips. STOP talking.
....and Logan. She needed to SHUSH, too.
"Professor.....Goblins have been in the castle, apparently...and have..."...from what he'd heard..."...taken things. Professor Elwood got hit, too...I think." Hadn't he heard something like that on his way towards the screaming? Not that the Captain had stopped to investigate....He'd had a Snake to possibly save.
"These girls tried to stop him....and got pushed around..." Wasn't that what Phillips had said...and Logan had been screaming when he'd rushed up here?...Yea, let's work that angle, shall we. "Why would they be here?"
Dylan personally knew that Logan...nor Phillips lied. So, he trusted what they were saying, of course. "Wouldn't they need a promise....or written statement to take things?"

"Oh suuuuuuuuuuuuure. Blame it on some other creature. Professor! I didn't finish my astrophysics essay on Extra-Solar Planets because the crup ate it. My kneezle shredded my robes so I couldn't come to class in uniform," Airey said with a dismissive wave to all the goblin accusations. THIS is why he did not keep a creature. They were always doing BAD things.
His head snapped around to the Quidditch captain. Oh, Calista got hit too? That was a good thing. She needed to have stuff taken from her habitat.
He looked around expectantly at all the students here. This was going to be one BIG party in detention and he knew JUST the punishment.
And what was this? They were making him repeat himself? Not good kids. NOT good. "I said...show me your Hogwarts identification." Was he going to have to repeat it a third time.
And since no one was removing the spell on his telescopes and his baby - aka the BIG telescope - he removed his wand from his pocket and gave it a quick flick. "Finite Incantatem." Only nothing happened - as was to be expected by the students but not by this man.
"Alright. WHERE did you lot hide the telescopes if you didn't disillusion them?Did Professor Romanos put you up to this?"

She crossed her arms. Fiiine! She flicked out her identification between two of her fingers.
She then mumbled to Ariana, "So much for a good surprise." This was the last time she was going out of her way to be nice.
She then turned out her pockets, rolled up her sleeves, and held out her wand for good measure. Go ahead Professor. Check her last spell.
Oh yeah. And those scratches too. 3000% real.

Nigel was still thinking about this hogwarts indentifcation. Did they really have those. Or did Nigel miss getting one. Whatever, That was something to think about when he was not in trouble.
Nigel listened to Flamsteed was yelling about and Nigel muttered something about handing in the essay last week. But that was also not important. "Professor, Me and him just got here. We don't know anything about the telescopes." Nigel said looking at the Slytherin Captain.
That gryffindor had a great idea also.
"You can check my wand also professor"
Nigel did want to know how the goblin made all the telescopes disappear. It would be more than one trip to make them all disappear.

Not wanting to...anger the man further, Dylan quickly fished out his ID...and also flashed his badge. Handing it over, the Slytherin Captain regarded the older man. Was it like...a rule for older people to just...automatically disbelieve anything kids said? Merlin, it sure seemed that way. Really....why would THEY want his telescopes?
Dylan wasn't desperate for money...and didn't want any part in stealing from Staff...
...Well.......not THIS member of staff, anyway.
Trying to insert some much needed CALM into the situation, he tried again. "Sir....I don't think this is an elaborate trick. Apparently....goblins have been in the castle...and are taking some things." Like Professor Elwood's tea set...He's seen that particular tea set. It was extremely nice.
Also....hadn't someone's furniture been taken. He'd heard bits and pieces...but couldn't be sure.
"Professor, I will accompany you to the Headmistress if you wish."...because she would probably know what was going on...If anyone would know, it'd be her.
Really....NONE Of these younger class men were helping. Hot air. That's all it was.

Airey folded his arms and just stared at each student as they spoke in turn. Yes yes yes. He heard you all, BUT HIS TELESCOPES WERE STILL MISSING.
As each student showed him their IDs, he leaned forward a bit to take a closer look at them. "FAKE! All of these are fake! Should have been more careful when reproducing these. All the new Hogwarts identification cards have a holographic image of the Headmistress' face on them when you hold it up to the light just so." NOOOOOOONE of you had that. So ha!
And no. Showing the badge would not offer you clemency. It made him even MORE guilty AND suspicious in fact - noble as his intentions were or whatever.
"You most certainly will accompany me, Mr. Montmorency . In fact you ALL will be accompany me." He stared at their wands being offered to him. Ha, nice try again kids. "No no, you can't pull the wool over my ears! I know how this works. I can only check the LAST spell you cast so you OBVIOUSLY have ALL cast something else to cover your tracks. We'll just have to see what the Headmistress has to say about this."
And no, Miss Phillips, an autograph from her brother would not get her out of this one.
"Now, due to it being after hours we are going to use the buddy system. Each of you grab the hand of the person closest to you." NOW. He would wait here with his foot a tapping until they did so.

Nigel was thinking that Flamsteed was over thinking them trying to steal the telescopes. But it seemed that Flamsteed was done listening and we were going to the Headmistress one way or another.
Back to this buddy system thing. Nigel waited there until somebody offered. He did not care either way.

Yes...because the ones we were issued are fakes. I suppose that was also due to budget cuts, yes?...he was quickly feeling OVER the situation. He'd come up here to help a fellow housemate because SLYTHERINS were his responsibility...He did NOT come up here to be subjected to accusations and a Professor not trusting him.
What was with people not trusting him, anyway? It was so stupid.
Instead of getting his FURIOUS on like he wanted to...because that wouldn't have helped anyone in this case, the Captain merely shot a disappointed look at his Astronomy Professor. "Sir...I'll accompany you there....but the fact that you're accusing us of something when it's not true...is making me lose some respect for you." Dylan wasn't a liar. Never had been in his entire life....and he never intended to start.
"Nigel Barrington, that's you name, yes?" Not waiting for a response, he held out his hand to the younger Claw boy. "Walk with me."
His girlfriend was a Ravenclaw...This was acceptable for all intents and purposes.
Also, to Logan..."Get up off the floor, Ariana. Do NOT throw a fit..." It was ugly...on anyone, really. "Grab Phillips' hand since we both know you don't mind doing so." He'd seen them hold hands before...It wasn't that big of a deal.

Anya blinked and snatched back her card. "Why would... why... what?" she asked looking at it. "Isn'tthat... weird?" Having the headmistress on her card? "And what if she gets fired...?" Which might happen.
She groaned. "Professor. You have got to be kidding. No offense, but if I'm going to go all out in some sort of... plot, I wouldn't steal your telescopes. I'd steal... ... the hourglasses or something."
Which... she planned on fully denying if that ever happened. The plans may or not have been in the works.
She rolled her eyes trying her best not to whine or knock some literal sense into the Professor. Then she indifferently held a hand out. Yeah. She wasn't putting any into this. The Professor clearly didn't think straight at night. And if he really wanted to let the thingy person thing get away, then... whatever.

| Hi guys! Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.
Oakey stumbled up into the observatory completely out of breath and still covered head to toe in dirt and mud from his trip down the hill by the lake. He had attempted to take a nice long bath in the Prefects Bathroom when he spotted a Goblin running off with it all!
Reaching the room Oakey looked around frantically at everyone in it. "Some Goblin just took all the Bubble Bath Soap! Did it come this way?" He needed a bath like now! and it needed bubbles for some reason.

Glaring at him she stood up quickly her head sinning as she did so. "shutup" she said to him as she took Anya's wrist in her hand, close enough, right..
ALL they wanted to do was clean the telescopes for the professor NOW they we're getting in trouble! Ariana felt like she could Cry, this wasn't her fault and it sure did seem like people we're making it feel like her fault. Eyes on you Captain.

Airey kept his oh-so-serious-I'm-gonna-hex-your-ears-off face while looking at each student. He was somewhat surprised that the Ravenclaw had remained quiet. They were always the troublemakers in his lesson. And then Miss Phillips spoke up and he arched an eyebrow at her. "NEVER reveal your master plans, Miss Phillips."
Before he could even respond to Miss Logan, the Slytherin Quidditch captain was giving him a heartfelt speech about respect and other things. Oops? Taking things a tad too far?
BUT DID THEY SEE THE LOOKS ON THEIR FACES?! It was priceless! Really really priceless!
Which is why in the next instant the Astronomy professor was rolling around on the ground laughing his head off as though he had just been hit by half a dozen Cheering Charms and drank one too many Elixir to Induce Euphoria in his pumpkin juice.
"HAHAHAHAHA HOHOHOHOHO HEHEHEHEHEHE!"

Okay. Why did Oakey just run through the door talking about Bubble Baths. That was Nigel's first thought before the trip to the Headmistress and Flamsteed started laughing hysterically on the floor. Nigel wanted to know what had been given to him to make him like this. Was it a potion or was he really laughing. Nigel could not tell.
Nigel opened his mouth and closed it thinking of a question to ask. "Did anybody give Flamsteed a potion. Even though most of us were here before him. Just have to ask. And What did you say Oakey?"
See Nigel can be calm and he had to ask again. Since Nigel kinda of forgot with Flamsteed rolling on the ground.

Her thoughts were interrupted by a crazy Professor. She stared with widened eyes. What was going on?!
She yanked her hand away from Snakey's. "With all due respect, Professor, get a hold of yourself. Some thing just stole all your telescopes, and I'm just a tad bit concerned here." she said her voice barely concealing the sarcasm.
... could she smack him or something? This was kind of a big deal to her. She didn't appreciate being shoved.
She also didn't appreciate something else. "Is Professor Romanos really hiring sneaky students for something? Because. I'm available to her. Or you. You know. If you need a sneaky student." Just putting that out there.

Airey took a while to finally stop laughing, but he eventually did and came to a stop with his back to the cobbled ground and his arms out to either side. "You...should...have...seen...your...faces," he chuckled as he turned his head. They had bought the identification card thing SO quickly and hadn't even bothered to ask him to show his as proof. No wonder Hogwarts students were so accident prone. He really should bring this up with the Headmistress. Maybe figure out some sort of safety question between students and professots. Like how Albus Dumbledore would say his favorite flavor of jam.
And he was getting his thoughts distracted.
Sweet solstice. WHY were they all being SO uptight?!
"Aw, come on students. Lighten up a bit and SMIIIIIIIIILE," he said as he set up and rest one of his arms on his knee. "Your IDs are fine and I will not be taking you to see the Headmistress." It was a jooooooooke. So lighten up, alright? He then glanced over at Miss Phillips and then to the empty spot where the giant telescope had once been. "Yes, well, loss of telescopes certainly does put a damper on what I wanted to do next lesson..."
And now he probably should get off the ground. The floor was rather dirty and he rather liked this suit. "We just may be...and I hope that I can count on you, Miss Phillips."
Yes...yeeeeeeeeeees...he was going to form a little army of Gryffindors!

Anya blinked. ... several times. What in the world was going on? This was... ... completely inappropriate laughter. But she was kind of relieved her card was fine. It would have been a little weird for the Headmistress to be on it.
She tilted her head to the side concerned about the Professor. "Err... Professor...?" she said hesitantly. He didn't seem... at all bothered. "Did...?" How to phrase this... "Were you expecting your telescopes to just... ... not be here...?" she asked. "Because I took a hit for you." Just saying. And because of that, she felt like she was owed an explanation.
Oooh! But yay for secret missions. She gave a little covert nod. Yup. She'd like to definitely be apart of ... whatever was happening. So much so, that she almost winked. But... it would be weird to wink at a Professor. And Anya refused to participate in weirdness.

Oh, poor Miss Phillips. She seemed rather upset about all this. And she had done what? Taken a fall for him? Well, her and other students had seemed to have told him that she had been pushed down while trying to defend his telescopes. "I'm terribly sorry Miss Phillips. No, I did not expect for them to be........gone." And now it was really sinking in that his telescopes were missing.
Yes. Now there was a genuine man!wibble on his lips.
"Take 5 po----" but then he was interrupted by the appearance of a silvery nundu that whispered a message that only he could hear. "If you will all excuse me..."
And with that the astronomer exited the Observatory with his lower lip quivering but with an odd bounce in his step.

Jory was at the Astronomy Tower to get a move on with his History of Magic homework. He decided to come here first because he really wanted to know exactly where Albus Dumbledore had died. So, he got started, randomly choosing corners of the tower to target with the spell.
"Spiritum Revelio!'' And a counter clockwise circle, followed by pointing the wand through the circle. Jory watched keenly for an outline like the had seen in the Staff Room where Professor Binns had died. Nothing. "Oh well, let's try another spot,'' he muttered. "Spiritum Revelio!'' Nope. Nothing again. "Spiritum Revelio!'' Again nothing. "Spiritum Revelio!''
Suddenly, the place in front of which he was standing glowed green! He could see the out line where Dumbledore had been standing just moments before he fell over the side of the tower. "Sad,'' Jory said to himself. poor Dumbledore.

| post 1 HoM A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Dumbledore's death had probably been one of the most memorable deaths in magical history. So it wasn't strange that the Slytherin had walked up the stairs towards the astronomy tower to do his History of Magic homework.
When he arrived at the tower he immediately noticed the lack of equipment that were usually there. Those Goblins must have taken it back due to Hogwart's financial problems. Daichi didn't care though because life was TOO GOOD to worry about objects. Unless it was Mr.Duckles, his duck plush toy....THEN it was a disaster!
Anyways, he took out his wand and made a counter clockwise circle "Spiritum Revelio" he then pointed the wand through the circle and waited. He looked around the area and nearly squealed when he found an outline of something. HE WAS AWESOME WASN'T HE!? Finding the right place immediately.
He looked down at the green glowing outline of what looked like a footprints before looking up. He noticed he was staring outside so that must have meant that the previous..previous...previous (how many?) Headmaster had fell down and the only thing left were his foot prints.
This made him shiver and he quickly noted his finding in his notebook before moving away quickly.

Parchment, and a muggle pencil. That's all Lottie needed. Plus her wand, OF COURSE.
And she would've brought the ice cream with her, but she figured she'd probably stay up here eating ice cream and stargazing than doing actual homework. Plus, she was gonna work her way down to the ice cream! That sounded even better! Because then she'll be as quick as possible.
Remember, Vinteren? It's important to be quick?
So, Lottie took out the list from class, because she didn't have the time to be wandering around the school without ice cream, and knew for fact that someone extremely important had died here. So, she scribbled down a few things and moved on to the wand work. She cleared her throat first, and very elaborately drew the counter-clockwise circle, "Spiritum Revelio!" POINT through the circle. Squint.
Where are youuuu, Albus? Where are youuu? GASP! She should've brought the ice cream along, because this still was rather creepy. EEK! There was the outline, very close to the edge of the tower too.
Lottie did NOT want to keep on thinking so she merely started to write.
Once that was done, she quickly left. | |

Really. Going to where people had died and trying to find where EXACTLY they died. Ummm…why? What's the point? The most natural thing to do would be to stay AWAY from the place. Seriously. And Cassia wanted to express her thoughts at the lessons, but she kinda was too quiet there, she missed Scabior. The man used to smile at her and all. Also, it probably would have been a bad idea to just tell the Professor that the lesson and the spell were weird. Might be taken the wrong way. Disrespect and all, lots of Professors were sensitive. She just likes to word out her thoughts.
Anyway, she didn't really have any other option so she headed to the Astronomy tower. Some dude called Dombledore died there. A former headmaster. Did he trip and fall down or something? A horrible way to die. Poor him.
ANYWAY!
To the observatory she headed and stood for a second remembering what she was supposed to do. Oh, yeah. The wand, and the textbook to write stuffs. She retrieved those, put her bag aside then took a general look around. Okay, now let's get down to business shall we. Before raising her wand she thought to practice saying the spell just to remember you know. "Ahem…Spirituuum ….Revelioooo" Umm..kinda over-done but she just wanted to make sure she got the syllables correctly. Now the spell for real.
The fourth-year raised her wand and started drawing a circle in the air, "Spiritum Revelio!" A bit enthusiastic as she pointed her wand in the circle. And then waited…. Kinda creepy waiting alone. Especially when the GREEN OUTLINE APPEARS! *GULP*
Ok. Totally done here, she'll write her notes on her way OUT from here.
