Stepping into the arena, you are immediately enveloped with the light shining into the room, either morning or evening depending on what time you decide to enter. Perhaps the intricately designed windows and ceiling could detour your eyes away from the dusty and cob web infested areas of the more higher portions of the arena. To the very right of the room, there is the long platform in which supervised duels will take place while four benches on either side are placed at a safe distance for those who would like to sit and watch. Just ahead of the platform in the right corner, there is a door, though pay no attention to it. It's locked for a reason.
Towards the back wall, there are various types of practice dummies, both stationary and moving, depending on what difficulty the practicer wants. Don't be afraid to go all out with your spells, for these dummies are charmed to repair themselves. There is one practice dummy set aside that will shoot spells back to the practicer, however, permission from a Professor is required to use it. To the left side of the arena are two sets of stands, eight seats high, that look out to the entire arena, comfortable for those who would just like to watch what's going on all around or for general purposes such as studying or relaxing after a long day in the arena.
The middle of the room is quite empty, due to the fact that the defense Professor enjoys presenting lessons in here, but please, despite the brilliant light that shines through the arena due to the large windows, it is not some place to sunbathe or fall asleep. You will be levitated out with a good dose of cold water splashed on you if caught.

Nerida smiled so Laura was good at the spells. "I was testing you Laura." That reminded her she had yet to put a shield on...Just as she was about to Laura hit her with a spell. Laura was too busy giggling to realise that her shield wasn't up and so the spell hit her and knocked her over, she went to get up and then she realised she had antlers on her head. "OMG!!!!!!" Laura felt them. "This is so on now Nerida." Laura smirked, so Nerida was good at spells.
"Tarantallegra!!!!!!" Laura shouted as she waved her wand in the air and did the spell, hopefully she would see Nerida dancing soon, it would be epic if it worked.

Laura had forgot to use finite, she was annoyed with herself, so annoyed she hadn't realised that Nerida had cast spells again, she turn purple as the first spell hit but some how she managed to stop the second one in time by using Protago, she silently casted finite and then she decided it was time to do a non-verbal spell. she thought about the spell Rictusempra and pointed her wand, please work please work she thought to herself.

Nerida smirked as she heard Laura start to speak after she changed her yellow hufflepuff robes to blue ravenclaw colored ones. Uh oh. She shouldn't have used that spell! The bald Ravenclaw ran over to Laura and said "Okay hold on I will be right back!!!!" Nerida stuffed her wand into her pocket as she ran out of the room to go get the professor. Hearing Laura she stopped great she wanted Professor Flamsteed and no one else!!! She ran out of the room quickly all the way up to the seventh floor to the astronomy professor.

Laura really wished that Nerida would hurry up. "ACHOOO!!!!!!!" Laura hadn't felt like this since she had gotten ill when she was 5 by falling into a lake. "ACHOOO!!!!!!" Laura really wanted Professor Flamsteed to be here so she could get better. "ACHOOOOOOOOO!!"

Nerida now bald with bright green eyebrows and long pink ear hair all the way to her knees arrived in the dueling arena out of breath. Though still clueless about the eyebrows and ear hair. She brought Professor Flamsteed in, and said "Here she is. Is she going to be okay?" Goodness she hoped so!!

Sweet solstice Miss Eventide was not exaggerating. You know how students could be, they get a papercut and they claim they need their entire hand chopped off sort of deal. He was still having a hard time not laughing at the Ravenclaw, but he was somewhat keeping it together. "She will be just fine," Airey said with a slightly dismissive hand wave. "Hufflepuffs are more resilient than this." He reached into his breast pocket for his wand and gave it a quick flick to perform the counter-curse to the Curse of the Bogies.
Good thing that he was very familiar with this curse. For reasons that he would not disclose with students. Heh.

Laura was glad that she had asked for this professor because as soon as he had come he had stop her sneezing but she was still really sore. "Thanks Professor." Laura gave him a weak smile, she seriously was glad to see him, now could she do anything for her antlers, her purple face and her robes, since someone had changed them blue so that she looked like a Ravenclaw, and what had happened to Nerida, if it wasn't because she felt so weak she would have been laughing her head off.

Nerida smiled as she finally stood up. Yay! He was fixing her!!! Everything was going to be okay...Next time Nerida no spells you read in books or at least finish reading the book!! "Yay you fixed her!!" If she wasn't so tired from running all the way up to the seventh floor and all the way down to the first floor, the Ravenclaw would have ran over and give Laura a hug. She would do that later once she got some strength back and she could breathe normally.

Airey was having a WWMD moment right now - which clearly meant What Would Medea Do for those wondering. Would she instantly remove the spells? Probably not. Or probably. She could be a softie sometimes, but Airey wasn't feeling very soft at the moment because looking at the two girls was FAR too amusing. Besides, there was a learning experience to have out of all this.
"Excellent," he said while clapping his hands together. "Now that the worst is over, I believe this is the perfect opportunity for you two to work on your counter spells, jinxes, and curses." His lips curled into a sly smile. "If you do not know the correct spells, I suggest checking the library. And let this be a lesson to you to remember to cast Shield Charms every now and again. All offense and no defense will get you nowhere in dueling."
So....sally forth, young ones.

Alexa couldn't run into the dueling arena any faster than she was presently going. Now that she'd gotten that last essay out of the way she could practice more spells!! This was the best long term project she'd ever worked on and she'd learned so many since the she started. Granted half of them she'd never get away with using but the OTHER HALF were just as good.
She'd been going through her book, looking for another one to try and ran into the perfect one. This one she would learn to get a good laugh.
Entering, she spotted Professor Airey, Laura and some Ravenclaw she didn't know. They all got a wave and a smile but she wasn't about to go casting near them. Nope! There would be no cross firing and she wouldn't give them the opportunity to misfire because she wasn't the next best target.
This looked like a good spot and that looked like a cooperative dummy. Lex plopped down and opened the book again to remind herself of the incantation. Levicorpus. Not as drastic as another spell she could use but just as entertaining when she thought it through. She took a few moments to concentrate on the wand movement. An upward flick. Not too much wrist but enough to give the wand the right idea. Seemed legit.
Okay! Ready!

She was all pumped and excited and ready! To practice on those dummies of course. She figured that it was better to practice on dummies then come and duel with Dora. Cassia entered the Dueling Arena, took a look around then jogged towards Lex. She flashed her bestie a grin and greeted, "Hey Lex," She then put her bag on the floor and turned to inspect the dummy. "Nice choice," She complimented just for the sake of it. Then she her eyes caught the sight of other three people She recognized the two student as well as Professor Flamsteed. They seemed pretty caught up in whatever they were doing.
After what she thought was enough inspection, she walked over and plopped down next to Lex. "So how about we take turns in shielding and hexing the dummy?" She suggested. That's what they were supposed to do, right?
She upholstered her wand then peered at what Lex was reading, "What's this by the way?" She asked curiously.

Nerida stared at Professor Flamsteed for a second...He was just going to leave her bald.....Oh and Laura an antlered purple ravenclaw. Counter spells...Great. "Well thank you Professor. Have a nice rest of the day." even though he only fixed one of their problems. She walked over to Laura and asked "So any chance you know any of the counterspells?" Because Nerida didn't know any for her spells.

She hopped up and threw the book down. "But you're here now so that can wait. You wanna start with the shielding while I do the knockback jinx or should I start with the shielding?"

Cassia gave the dummy another look and nodded, "He does. See it's all in the shoulders" Or whatever those were called. Another prolonged look at the poor dummy that was going to be stunned and knocked back for a while. Oh, well, Professor Romanos said to do so. So they were going to. they followed rules you know. And what was more fun than practicing on a dummy. NOTHING!
Teach herself? Who was this and where was Alexa? Oh a spell. And a jinxing book. This was Alexa Cambridge in flesh and bones. "Interesting," The snake commented with an awed expression. Though it was going to be done later and Cassia was glad Lex didn't mind the change of plans. When Lex stood, Cassia followed suit. "I'll start the knock back and you shield first, then the opposite and so on untill we think it's enough? Okay" Or until the dummy falls to threads and pieces.
Raising her wand the Snake faced the dummy while Lex was a feet away, cleared her throat, "Okay on the count of three," She said to Lex so the lioness would prepare herself. "One....Two...." PAUSE. "THREE...Flipendo!" Cassia uttered moving her wand in the air in the correct movement of the hex.

"Not everything is a contest," Mo informed Dora helpfully as he did some light stretching. Very light... basically just hugging himself, bouncing on the tips of his toes, and doing four jumping jacks. Not more than four, though... he was tired and stuff.
But now they were here, so might as well get started. The sleepiness was fast departing to be replaced by excitement. They were going to get ANTLERS. And now that Alice didn't care about his face, Dora would hex him. Not that he didn't trust Aidan to hex him, but they could all hex each other senseless with no repercussions.
"So then," he put both feet on the ground again. "The incantation is Anteoculatia." See? He'd done his homework and stuff. "So... who wants to cast first? Aidan?"

Shoulders were alright to talk about she supposed but they weren't as cool as the actual spell they were going to cast so she didn't comment on it anymore. No need to encourage the conversation. There were cooler things waiting for them both and she was bouncing.

Well, she'll have to wait until it was her turn to try it. Or maybe Lex would do it and she'd just watch and learn. The snake did know that the Gryffindor's skills in hexing were more advanced in shielding. Kinda make her glad to be on Lex's good side. Like how the dummy wasn't totally shield from Cassia's hex. But it wasn't bad.

When Lex reached three, the snake made a zig-zag motion upward in the air and uttered, "Contego dummy!" Wait did she have to say training dummy? Oh but it worked as the dummy just barely shifted. Though, gotta give it to Lex. She knew how to hex. The blue spark that was shot out of her wand was unmistakable. Was hers too? She forgot to pay attention.
"Let's name the dummy?" Cassia suggested with a smile so out of topic. It just popped in her head you know. How come the poor dummy doesn't get a name.

Dueling.
Ella liked dueling. She liked Defense Against the Dark Arts too and she wanted to be better. That's why she was here...waiting for Oakey. Yeah, this wasn't going to be awkward or anything. It's not as if they were bumping heads all the time lately or anything. Nope. Not at all. Sigh.
The blonde paced around the center of the room, wand in hand, and waited. She was early so she expected he'd be a few minutes. Just enough time to go over some spells in her head.

Lex was only a little sore that her shield charm wasn't as perfect as her jinx. Of course she'd come to accept it but that didn't make it any better, now did it. Pffft. Shield charms.To make herself feel better, she would just focus on how brilliantly executed her jinx was. Yup. Easy enough, effortless too. It was one of the first she'd decided that she had to learn so she did.
She watched, firmly believing that Cassia's shield just now was excellent. It had to be otherwise the dummy would have been knocked over when she cast at it. She was half tempted to just ask that she be the one to cast the jinx and Cassia be the one to work on the shield but she had a feeling they were both meant to do this. "Naming it for casting purposes? Eh, I dunno. Things always go wrong after I name my homework." She looked to the dummy again. Technically they were meant to be attacking it so what could go wrong outside of it breaking? It fixed itself. "You can name it if you want but I'll pass on that."
You never know.
She scowled a bit, realizing that it was her turn to cast the shield again. SIGH. Yes, she was ready. Not very convinced, but ready. "Contego training dummy!" This time the dummy swayed a bit but didn't move from it's current spot. This was better than the last time. Sure. Could it be her turn to cast the jinx nooooow? "This time I'm not giving you a counting warning. Watch me and cast when you think I'm casting."
She lowered her wand and gave a few counts in her head then suddenly lifted her wand again. "Flipendo!" Heh, Cassia had better had been prepared for that one. Better than the last if she was being honest.
