Stepping into the arena, you are immediately enveloped with the light shining into the room, either morning or evening depending on what time you decide to enter. Perhaps the intricately designed windows and ceiling could detour your eyes away from the dusty and cob web infested areas of the more higher portions of the arena. To the very right of the room, there is the long platform in which supervised duels will take place while four benches on either side are placed at a safe distance for those who would like to sit and watch. Just ahead of the platform in the right corner, there is a door, though pay no attention to it. It's locked for a reason.
Towards the back wall, there are various types of practice dummies, both stationary and moving, depending on what difficulty the practicer wants. Don't be afraid to go all out with your spells, for these dummies are charmed to repair themselves. There is one practice dummy set aside that will shoot spells back to the practicer, however, permission from a Professor is required to use it. To the left side of the arena are two sets of stands, eight seats high, that look out to the entire arena, comfortable for those who would just like to watch what's going on all around or for general purposes such as studying or relaxing after a long day in the arena.
The middle of the room is quite empty, due to the fact that the defense Professor enjoys presenting lessons in here, but please, despite the brilliant light that shines through the arena due to the large windows, it is not some place to sunbathe or fall asleep. You will be levitated out with a good dose of cold water splashed on you if caught.
Lex was still re-living the explosions just now...actually it was her ears ringing that she was dealing with at the moment but she still managed to nod her agreement at Mika's words. Clearly explosions were amazing, that was that, now if only her ears would behave. "Uh-huh, always." She muttered, placing her palm to her ear. Ugh. The next spell she'd learn would be one just for this, an anti-ear ringing one. NOD.
Finally deciding that she had no choice but to ignore her ears, she lowered her hand and gave Mika her full attention. Was it just her or was Mika EXTRA happy today??? Like extra happier than she'd been just now when she was blowing things up?
Eh. Today was a good day. It was warranted. GRIN.
Alexa watched Mika's every moved. It was important that she saw every step--more important that she tried seeing as she learned best by doing but for now watching would be enough so that's what she did. After the demonstration she turned to another dummy, one that wasn't too busy trying to get itself fixed up.
"Redactum Skullus!" The intent was there as the spell was cast and the smirk was set once the head started shrinking. Heh, yeah, she could definitely find use for this one. "You say the counter spell is just as simple?' She asked, now looking to her present company again.
Mika beamed at Lexa’s spell work. She was doing so well with this – and heck she’d been BOOMtastic earlier. “Don’t mind me – I just get overly excited teaching people spells…and practicing hexes is fun” she nodded happily as she eyed the dummy once more.
When she watched Lexa casting the spell she just beamed. “Awesome! And yeah the counter spell is easy – its just engorgio skullus” she nodded and pointed her wand at the shrunken head of her own dummy. “Engorgio skullus” see – now the poor things head was three times bigger than it should have been.
“Oh.My.Gosh.” she beamed, a mischievous glint on her face. “We should totally cast this on some egotistical jerkwad” she chuckled. “Because seeing the guy whose ego is too big for his well…self with a head equally as big would just be proportionate to their personality yeah?” She asked beaming still. Sure she did look like she was up to something, but who cared.

Simple enough. He waited for Ronnie to get started not realising he was still holding her hand.
She smiled at him as he didn't let go of her hand when she helped him up. Gosh, he sure was the perfect boyfriend! "No problem, love." she said, giving his hand a squeeze.
"You sure?" she asked, feeling a bit unsure about practicing on him. But then again, he seemed confident. More confident than her, at least. "Alrighty. I'll give it a go." she said, slowly releasing his hand out of hers. She didn't want to let go...but she needed the space to do the spell correctly.
She cleared her throat and said: "Torparticus!" while jabbing her wand towards Jory.

"Yes, I'm sure,'' Jory replied with a smile and squeezing Ronnie's hand in reassurance. He'd be able to handle it. But honestly, he hardly had any memory of the first time he tried the spell which was in DADA class lat term or the term before that.
The Puffer braced himself for that weird sensation that spell caused as Ronnie was about to cast it. And he waited. "Er...nothing's happening,'' he said, pointing out the obvious. "Maybe you should practice the incantation first?'' Like they would sometimes do in class. Then the second time would be the charm?

Alexa was only listening a little by now. Most of her focus had shifted to the dummy that stood next to the one with a now smaller head. Just as before, she raised her wand. "Redactum Skullus!" She let out a giggle when the head on that one shrunk just as the first one had. Learning spells like this probably wouldn't be beneficial to the wider public but it sure made her day!
She was set to cast on yet another one when Mika went on with her explanations. This time about the counter spell. Lex would try that one in a minute, for now she'd watch because Mika seemed keen on giving a demonstration. It was just as she said, it did look simple. "Engorgio skullus...En-gor-gio skul-lus..." She ran it over a few times in her head too, everything from the incantation to the effect it should have. Just getting a feel for this one too. Her wand was aimed at the now small head. "Engorgio skullus!!"
Her eyes widened and a grin spread across her face though really she shouldn't be too surprized; these were the types of spells that she got easily. Now she could give her full attention to the older 'Claw.
HAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!
"An epic idea, I'll give you that." Lex said the moment her laughter died down. "You got anyone in mind? I'm drawing a blank here." Probably because she was already looking to the dummies with that crazed amused look from earlier. "Bombarda!"
That was aimed at the huge head of the dummy but it took out the whole of it too. "I imagine he'd tell on us too but by then the fun would already be had." Whoever they chose as their target. Certain people were off limits but that still left plenty.

Mika did beam a bit when Lexa thought her idea was epic. See. That would be so much fun – making every jerk in school have a head as big as their ego. She did beam and nodded again when Lexa brought up the person telling on them. “Well we could destroy the evidence…just cast another spell afterwards – like lumos or something super simple and then they can’t prove it was us” she beamed at the idea.
“But who would we cast it on?” She asked as she glanced over to Lex beaming “maybe…” she shrugged, “Kaiden? Because we can.” She shrugged even though he was her friend. There were other people in the school who might have deserved it…”maybe Nash – you know the guy whose kind of…way too flirty?” She asked shrugging slightly.
She didn’t like that fact about her friend – seriously, he was suddenly shirtless in front of her one time too many. Like he wanted her to see him that way and make her like him. Which wasn’t going to happen. She liked someone else…she began twirling where she was standing swaying on her feet as she stood there. Her mind kept trailing back to a certain boy whose eyes kind of seemed to change colors. Her face changed to one of shock “Oh...merlin" yeah she'd realized that look made her the prime target for being slapped, water balloon-age, or anything Lexa had in mind. And really she didn't have anything against aversion therapy when it came to feelings.
"Alexa...slap me, do something...feelings...oh no no no, feeeeelings" she bit her lip. "I guess the potion just moved feelings to another person? Or well, didn't work. And please please slap me or send a hex my way" she nodded. She meant it.
Even though she was fifth teen she didn't want to like anyone yet.

Ronnie frowned when she saw no reaction from Jory when she did the spell. Huh? Either Jory was really tough, or it didn't work. She was gonna go with it not working.
Aaaand she was right. She walked over to Jory, kinda relieved she it hadn't worked. Jeez, she was really worried about hurting him...she needed to calm down. It probably wasn't as bad as she thought. She just worried a lot... She nodded at his question. "Good idea. What was it again...?" she asked.

Oh, he DID know the shield spell. Relief! Mo was still grinning at the younger 'Claw's use of the spell when he realized he'd been cast against. Get your head back into the duel, Marcus Branxton, or go away! There wasn't any room for distracted spellwork.
Moments from having to seriously reconsider his dental status, Mo dropped to the floor in a move that was all Muggle and not at all magical. At least he hadn't been hit, even if he'd landed harder on his wrists than intended. Ouch. He cast back from the floor before scrambling to his feet.

Still astounded by the way Mo had avoided his attack, he almost didn't notice the ropes flying towards him. Panicking, he scoured his brain for a way to defeat the ropes. "Diffindo!" To Ethan's relief they were cut in half and soared to the side. His turn now.

Alexa flopped on the bench Felix was now curled up on then pulled him into her lap it wasn't Aidan's lap but he'd have to get over it, hpmh! She stroke his fur and listened to the suggested victims. Oh hey Felix wasn't complaining, not that he ever use to but still. He was curling up again in her lap.
Uh, but she was paying attention to Mika, yup yup. "Either of those can work. I worry about Kaiden though. A bit thick if you ask me, a bigger head might not help him one bit." Besides, he didn't have an ego on him, the boy barely had a brain. "I don't know Nash all that well but anyone who's too flirt deserves a hex." She never saw the point in going around and flirting she actually didn't even know how to flirt, thank merlin too so they'd help him see the error of his ways...? Nah. He probably wouldn't take anything from the lesson except that Gryffindors were vicious. Only slightly true but not the message she was trying to send.
"....We'll think about something eventually, or maybe we could find someone who wouldn't mind at all?" She paused to think that through. "Not as fun though...they'd enjoy it and it wouldn't be much of a lesson. Just think it through, we could still cast it on either of those if you want..." She shrugged, all was good so long as her wand got some action.
Slowly realization hit her. Was Mika over there getting all dreamy eyed and annoying? Yuuuuuup she was. Hadn't they already been through this? Didn't she say the potion worked??
"With pleasure." Lex assured her, rising, kneazle tucked in her arm. She shot the stinging hex at the girl. Hopefully it wouldn't leave too much of a mark, that thing could be nasty, but if it did leave a mark Mika could look at it every time she was about to get googly eyed and think better of it. That's how you trained things you know. "Now cut that out or I'm shooting antlers at you next." She took her seat again. "And what do you mean it shifted feelings?" THAT'S NOT WHAT THE POTION WAS MEANT TO DO!!!!

“Haaaaahhhiiiiiiiiii-eep” wait? What was that? Was that a squeaky tire…no the flashing lights behind her eyes told her it was something else. She blinked a few times when she opened her eyes – which were watering. “Merlin that stings” she blinked back the watery eyes and glanced at her shoulder. Which kind of felt like it was burning or struck with lightning…or more like she was stung by sixteen billion bees at once – only less deadly.
“That twealy…really…um” right her words weren’t even working right. SO she laughed. “That h-hurts…a bit” she finally panted out – and looked a little bit shocked. Really, shocked. After a moment of standing there she finally panted out “thank you,” even if the feelings didn’t go away…they just didn’t show themselves on her face.
Though as she stood there she realized that well stinging hexes weren’t fun…and there was a mark on her shoulder. Not a pretty mark but a mark none the less. Still it was needed very, very needed. "Aww...fine, we won't do it to Kaiden but maybe Nash" she beaaamed.

Oh, REALLY? The kid knew Diffindo? Mo gaped a bit as his awesome ropes fell away into discarded bits. Like nothing, really. He was inclined to sulk over it, only he didn't have the time. Already, Ethan had pointed his wand back at Mo and cast yet another spell.
And even with his wand up and half a Protego out of his mouth, the spell still hit him. UGH. Not fair. He was only a fourth year and couldn't cast ANYTHING without saying the incantation out loud. Mo held up his hands in surrender.

"Ahhhh, not so loud." Lex said, waving her off. The stinging hex was meant to hurt. It would teach her to not make those silly faces and get all googly eyed. You never saw Lex getting like that you know; something to think on. She wouldn't be making googly eyes and it was rather simple. One day Mika would be able to not make faces. It would just take a few well placed stinging hexes.
"Alright, we can get Nash I guess, though...with a bigger head, won't he find it harder to put shirts on...?" That wasn't what they were trying to accomplish. His shirts were needed to stay on, yes? "I think we'll need to use something else."
Alexa eased Felix off her lap again and walked toward the dummies. Now that her ears had stopped ringing she was kinda missing it and missing the explosions. "Bombarda!"
BOOM!
Heheheheehhehehe!
"And you hadn't answered my question." Yeah, she noticed, "What did you mean by the feelings shifting to someone else?" Lex was a curious one, nothing she could do about that.
"Bombarda!"

She breathed a sigh of relief, glad he was alright. Okay. Good. She hadn't hurt him. That was a biiig relief for her. She never wanted to hurt her Jory!!
She waited for the curse, watching his wand move while he said the spell. Her legs wobbled for a second, and she collapsed onto the ground. She looked up at Jory and gave him a thumbs up. "Perfect!" she said as she stood up and brushed herself off.
Ethan watched as Mo almost defeated the spell and...failed. Seeing him hold his hands up in surrender, Ethan suddenly realized what he had done. He had beaten an older student. Deciding to reserve the celebration for later, he congratulated Mo, "Good job." "Want to continue?", he asked. If not, he was going to beat up some more dummies.

Did he want to continue? Well, considering that Mo didn't want to end on such a downer note, the answer was YES, OF COURSE. On the other hand, he wouldn't talk. At all. Not a peep. It was sort of a toss-up at this point.
Mo put his finger to his throat to indicate the fact that he couldn't talk, then turning up his palms in a question. If they were going to discuss continuing, Mo needed the spell removed.

"Bombarda!"
Mika blinked a few times, and glanced at Lexa before rubbing her shoulder. ”Sorry, it was the er shock of it?” (pun not intended). She shrugged before running her hand through her hair and pulling it into a tight braid. She wanted to get some training-stuff in before the end of the day yeah? And maybe that would make her thinking about boys less of a distraction.
”Oh you have a good point – maybe everytime he starts to take the shirt off cast Tarantallegra and make him dance every time?” She suggested shrugging because dancing hindered your ability to do other things yes? Like you needed balance and everything.
”Oh…um, right that q-question” she shrugged a bit uncomfortable saying it aloud. So she took a few steps closer, ”You remember this summer? The tent-thing?” she asked nonchalantly, as she stretched her arm up and got ready to try a spell. ”Deprimo!” a neat little hole was blasted straight through the dummy.
”Oh…I am never using that spell on a person,” she muttered before turning her attention back to Lex. ”Ithinkimightlikethepizzahoardingguy…you know, M-“ she paused because she didn’t want to say it aloud. She didn’t want to hurt anyone and well she didn’t want anyone to hear. ”It might be fleeting I don’t know really – it could be a figment of my imagination” she finally muttered and glanced back at the dummy.
”Repario!” hey look – shiny and brand new looking.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
It had been a few weeks after Daichi had accidentally used an non-verbal spell by accident during an homework assignment and he really wanted to try it again. This was why he entered the dueling arena in order to practise his spells nonverbally. Plus he could use this as his DADA year long log thing.
The Slytherin looked around the room and immediately took in the platform where the students could duel. But since he was alone he past the platform and went to the back of the room.
Here he found the dummies that were used for practising and with the use of his hands he dragged one of them forward to practise on. Before coming here, Daichi had read about nonverbal spells and how they were casted so he hoped it would go as easy as it had been written.
Placing his school bag to the side of the wall, the Prefect took out his spell book and flipped through the pages. He closed his eyes and pointed his finger to a random spell. Deprimo. A very powerful wind that blasts holes in things. Sounded cool!
But before he would try it non-verbally he wanted to try it the spell verbally. Taking out his wand from his wrist holster, Daichi pointed it at the dummy in front of him and took a deep breath to concentrate himself. "Deprimo!" He shouted and slashed his wand to the dummy.
To his big surprise, a gush of wind did come out of his wand but it wasn't strong. Better than nothing , right? "Deprimo!" he casted again and this time the dummy rolled backwards by the effect of the strong wind and hit the wall. But there was no hole in the dummy itself.
With a frustrated sigh, Daichi shouted "DEPRIMO!" and BAAAANG! the dummy against the wall now had a hole in its stomach. *PROUD GRIN~* Now he totally wanted to try this spell non-verbally!
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite

Lex nodded at Mika. Of course she had a point, there was no need to give him more reasons to keep his shirts off, especially not in the winter where he could very well freeze to death. "That will work brilliantly and it won't cause him any harm either so really it should be fine." Once they weren't giving the Healer any added work she figured it would all be fine.
Eyes now on Mika.
"Yeah...I do..." Her memory was selective, she would have wanted to remember having pizza with Mika and Mo so she did. "That was like a week after we tried making that potion." Which, apparently, didn't work anyway. Bummer, she was really hoping they'd gotten it right but whatever. Not like she was in desperate need of that potion right now, not like Mika.
Her eyes widened at the spell performed. "NEAT!!!!" It was like--and the dummy--that was EPIC!!! "You might not but I'm thinking about it." Yes, it was a rather useful spell indeed--
MIKA SAY WHAT???
Lex raised an eyebrow at the girl. Last she heard he was dating Alice but something about a break up and anyway didn't she like Kaiden??? What was wrong with these people? She'd told Lottie that they were drama magnets, kinda hard to believe that Lottie never noticed when it was all so out there, as subtle as it was. "Uh-huh...do you think it is?" A figment of her imagination that is.

It wasn't until Mo put his finger to his throat that Ethan realized that he hadn't lifted the spell. Waving his wand, "Sorry!", he apologized. "So do you want to continue?"

"No, you beat me. Fair and square." Mo waved off the younger boy and put his hands on his knees, taking great gulps of air like he'd been drowning. It was more that he liked hearing the sounds he was making, liked knowing he COULD make sounds.
Silencio was the WORST.
"'Sides, I owe Lex there a hand. You're welcome to stay." He waved at Lex and headed in her direction.
