Isidora didn't JOG out to the grounds, she had be dead set against any jogging for this assignment, but she wasn't against climbing trees. That was alright. After packing a few things, and making certain that Biter was comfortable in the pocket of her cloak, she made her way down from the towers, and out to the grounds to meet up with Cassia.

Who was jogging around a tree. She REALLY wanted to go jogging, huh? "If you want to go jogging, I can watch you from up in the tree." She said after approaching. Standing beside her friend, she waved a loaf of bread in her face. "Or you could climb the tree with me and feed the ducks."

Lex BEAMed over at him because he was willing to take her advice. Some pretty darn good advice too if you asked her. People had this neat habit of popping out ice-cream and they were willing to share with others with spoons. It was like an ice-cream lover's code thing so she nodded at him proudly. Ehhhh? "Well I don't think that's a very fair question for me. I'm addicted to anything chocolate. That's my prefered flavour but I guess I'll have to say I like chocolate frog flavoured as well and I've recently started eating this lemondrop flavour....I think. It's not so bad--neither is raspberry. What about you, Mr. Nothing Average. What kind is your favourite?"

This was like the perfect conversation, simply for the fact that it focused on ice-cream. 'Nuff said.

She tilted her head and gave him a curious look. Picking a position for the action. Personally she would have picked Beater for the power of holding a Beater's Bat but she was hooked on Chaser. That was her position and she liked it. "I think the Beater's are one of the most active, constantly zooming in to save us from bludgers." Never mind the occasional stray bludger, those couldn't be helped. "And aren't you quite the literal one." She added with a giggle. He could intimidate anyone he wanted on the pitch but not her. Nothing scared her. In fact...he probably wouldn't intimidate any of the lions. Alice had fangs, Penelope threw a mean punch, Ryan was into shoving...eh...Melanie would hug him to death. Nodnodnodnod.

"I'll give you the 'cute shell of Kaceness' though, you're kinda adorable when I think about it." Just how many of these Puffers Firsties were like this?? Forrest her ickle that she'd hex for, Kitty!Tobias and now hiiiiiiim.

"Okay, enough compliments, you'll make my face red." NOT blush, just face reddening. Alexa Cambridge did NOT do the blushing thing. EVER. "But I'm glad you enjoyed it. The Professor said I might get another shot of it if I tried it and liked it." She didn't want to give the mic back. It was obvious she liked it. "Who's fire range? Ariana's? Been there, it's quite entertaining if you get her steamed enough--er, not saying you should. I can take care of myself, you're just a Firstie, got it?" AND MORE DUCKIES!!!

As she jogged and rested, jogged and rested, Cassia remembered something and jogged over to her bag to retrieve it. Her headband of course. She actually liked it for the appearance more than what it really was for. Looks mattered in the snake's opinion, you know. Her headband on, she continued to jog and only stopped when she spotted Dora heading towards. Her face lit up and flashed her friend a smile, "I jogged all the way here. I think I had enough of it," She grinned. "No way, we're climbing trees together." What? Dora didn't think Cassia could do it? Pffft. She sure could.

Glancing at the nearest tree, Cassia got closer took a closer look and decided that this was a fine one. It had thick branches and trunks. That was good right? "I think this one is good," She said to Dora. Did the Eaglette find another tree?

Not wanting to waste any precious time, the fourth-year reached for a low, large branch, looked at the tree's trunk and chose a spot to use as a foothold. Then hauled herself UP. Then she reached for other branch and her other foot wen for another spot. She grabbed with both hands making sure she steady. Then turned to see where Dora was. Was she on the same tree.

Kace's eyes widened since he share the same problem. "SAME! I can not decide which is my favorite ice cream flavor. I kind of hate it when people ask me that question because i never know. But i do like all your flavor choices though. I never knew there was chocolate frog flavor or a lemon drop flavor. I will make a mental note." he said with a playful wink to Lexa. "Plus i also have to be in the mood to have my favorite flavor. But now since you asked..." he was contemplating what his favorite was. Now she gave him a nickname Mr. Nothing Average? Hmm....he liked it!

"Well....i think my favorite could be cookie dough or cookies and cream..." Yeah those two were his go to's if he was depressed or in the mood. "Yup those two for sure." he said nodding reassuringly.

Kace agreed that the beaters did the most work. "I agree with you on that. Beaters have to do like multi tasking....they have to keep track of the bludger and then keep track of the players and make sure none of them get hurt. It is a lot to handle once you think about it." Kace said actually thinking about their jobs. The chasers job was easy compared to them. Then he heard Alexa call him the literal one. Kace chuckled at that. "I am literal sometimes." he added with a playful wink.

Now Alexa thought he was adorable. Well...he REALLY had the cuteness thing going for him now once he thought about it. He could use it to his advantage while he can. "Why thank you that you think i am cute." he smiled cutely when he gave him the compliment. Then he noticed Alexa was blushing from the compliments he was giving her. "Aww i am just returning the favor!" he smiled towards her. "Do not get embarrassed!" he chuckled towards her. "I think if you have another shot people would love to have you up there." he told her honestly. He knew he would.

Kace nodded when Alexa told him not to cross Arianna's fire. He trusted her judgment and advice and he took it to heart. He let go of that subject because Kace saw Alexa's reaction to the duckies and smiled and asked her, "I see you like the little duckies."

The duck pond!

Ella was watching Alec to see if there was any extra pep in his step cause he loved this place, yeah? Plus MARTIN! Was he here somewhere or was he sleeping? Did ducks sleep? How long did they sleep if they did? Oh and did they like ice cream? Important questions, she had them.

But anyway, time to find the Polaris System.

"So we're meant to use the spell on our eyes again, yeah?" BEAM. And she was talking quietly too in case the ducks really were sleeping. She didn't want to disturb them.

Removing her hand from his, the sixteen year old pulled out her wand and pointed it at her eyes. "Oculo Focalis!" Swishhhhh and TAP.

Blink.Blink.Blink.

"It worked!" Bounce! She was excited, okay? Besides, the sky looked extra clear and twinkly now which was really nice.

And it seemed he was finally seeing the bigger picture. "Definitely. I haven't been hit by a bludger even once. Means they're doing a super good job...either that or the other team's beaters suck." But that's not what she was implying at all. Melanie was simply good with a bat. A confession too. She gave him a playful nudge. "Well no need to be too literal. It sucks the fun out of life." Sometimes it was best to let your imagination run away with you.

"Oh it's no problem at all. I notice cute things. Are you friends with Forrest and Kitty!Tobias? They're cutie patooties too." She could only imagine how cute the three would be hanging together...it really helped that they were puffers. She grinned widely at him for giving even MORE compliments. He was quickly making his way onto her good side. "I hope I get the chance to. I was destined for that mic, we're like...soul mates or something." Too bad Ariana didn't realize that.

"I do, my kneazle likes them even more though." Heh. Good thing he was back in her Commonr Room.

He knew where they were going... yeah! And was he excited? YEAH!

GRINNING WIDELY and trying his hardest not to bounce, Alec hurried along down to the duck pond, giving his girlfriend's hand a small squeeze as he went along. Because he knew why she wanted to come here, yeah? And this meant... MARTIN! And the other ducks? Could they sit here for a while to say hey?

... Probably not. They did have a time limit for these things, after all.

Spell? Eyes? "Oh, yeah! Otherwise... we won't be able to see Polaris properly," And that was kind of really important, yeah? He looked up at the sky and blinked a couple of times. Yeah... his vision was going back to what it usually was. Kind of. Had he kept the spell on it for too long from the classroom?

When she released her grip on his hand, he blinked and looked down at his empty hand instead. That... felt weird. And empty. When could they hold hands again? The sixteen year old shook his head and whipped out his wand. "Oculo Focalis!" Swish and tap! ... SUPER VISION!

Girlfriend seemed happy! Or... bouncy! "Well done! I... now we can find Polaris, right?" GRIN.

"Knock on Wood." he smiled.

Once he got back and sat down, Kace took Alexa's advice about not being too literal. He liked using his imagination to its fullest. When Kace heard Forrest's and Tobia's names, Kace smiled and nodded. "I am friends with Tobias since he is on the quidditch team with me. We are called the Bashing Bashers for some reason." he shrugged not knowing what it meant. "I guess that is a good thing?"

Kace giggled when Alexa mentioned that her and the mic were soul-mates XD. "You are quite funny." There he gave her another compliment. Then he heard that Lexa has a kneazle? That was soo cool! "What is your kneazle's name?"

She gave him a curious look as he got up and knocked on the tree but it moved to an understanding one when he explained. See? She wasn't the only superstitious one. Then again, she was only superstitious when it came to harming Puffers. It was a risky sort of business. "Have you ever wondered what a bludger feels like?" She'd given it some thought. It must have hurt since it drew blood but...how much?

"Er...bashing bashers?" She giggled, finding it hard to take that name very seriously. It didn't actually make much sense when she thought about it. Kace chuckled when Lexa didn't judge them on the name. Kace also forgot to mention Forrest *face palms* How could he forget!? "Well i also just met Forrest so i am getting there to know more about him. I actually never seen him around that much." he said truthfully.

Oh! So the kneazle was named Felix? That was an interesting name. "Why hello there Felix!" he smiled and held out his hand for him to smell. Kace caught on about how much she lost her. He smirked at that and said, "Well that is why i got an owl because if i got a little critter like Felix then i would lose it all the time." he grinned sheepishly.

Nashville nearly sprinted down to the duck pond with over thirty pies in his arms, he had the practice for carrying even more pies than that. He clammed to be skilled to carry that many pies in one trip but for the last two or three days Nashville had been in the kitchen baking and baking pie after pie after pie and he loved it and he was also a little guilty that he had to ask his grandparents for more baking stuff he didn't even tell them why and that was eating him alive but he would tell them why and hopefully they wouldn't be mad but they had to wait until.


Nashville set the pies down neatly on the ground, he had plate and forks and sporks but forgot the drinks and some cups but it was only to be him, he knew that after his little fight with Kaiden back in January made everyone angry and made him lose his spot on the team and he didn't know if he would get it back next term but still barely anyone has spoken to him sense. Nashville was still dressed up in his little Fright Fest get up, as the Eleventh Doctor of course! Nashville laid out a GIANT black and yellow blanket and set everything up nice and neat to his desire and once that was all set he took a big piece of his favorite mango pie and put it on a black and yellow plate.

Ambling towards the Duck Pond, as instructed by Nash, Ryan couldn't help but feel slightly bad that his mate was sitting all alone. Or maybe he was just the first one to show up? He hoped so. Once he reached the black and yellow blanket, Ryan plopped down and crossed his legs. From under his arm, he produced a few bottles of butterbeer, which he had snagged as a last thought.

"Hey mate!" He said cheerfully, grinning at the Puff. "Happy birthday, again!" And then his eyes fell on the pies. Ten...twenty...he lost count. Ryan's eyes were as big as galleons as he realized the quantity of his favorite food EVER, sitting right in front of him. Merlin, he hoped Chris was coming.

Chuckling to himself, he placed the bottles near the pies and grabbed a plate. "How long did it take to him to make all of these?" he asked as he cut himself a slice of peach pie.

"Good, cause jogging is exhausting. Just thinking of it makes me tired." She was gonna stop thinking about it now, since she needed all of her strength to climb this tree. It was actually a really good tree, since it had branches hanging over the pond, which meant it was gonna be easy feeding the ducks from up there.

Assuming she got up high enough, Dora didn't actually climb trees that often.

Waiting for her friend to lead the way, she opened up her pouch and put the bread in there, then slipped it back into her pocket with her pet, ready to climb the tree. Dora started up the same way that Cassia started, much slower and careful than the snake had moved. "I got snacks for us too.... not just the birds." Her foot slipped and she sort of dangled off a large branch for a moment before regaining her footing and scrambling onto the branch for a rest.

She wasn't high in the tree, but she was IN it, and that was accomplishment enough.

Alexa giggled at his assessment. She may have never been hit by a bludger but she was certain they felt nothing like a bee's sting. "They sure do, I've heard a few stories about broken jaws and arms, cracked skulls. Terrible stuff but you know, not everyone breaks something so I'm wondering what those hits feel like." She'd probably never know though. Alice would kill her if she intentionally got herself hit by one of them.

After another minute she was set to call him out on ignoring Forrest but then he became the topic of the immediate conversation. So that was it. He had said he'd been hiding inside, away from the cold (which she obviously didn't believe but dropped it). "I think you'll mostly find him in the Common Room but a kid like you, you're probably out on the grounds a lot, right?" It would explain them hardly running into each other.

She scrunched her nose. "Owls aren't nearly as fun and you can't snuggle with them in your bed. They stay up in the owlery most times. Besides, I don't mind looking for him...it's just when he starts hunting other people's pets that it becomes a problem." Minor problem really, because she had it under control...sorta.

"That's great," She grinned down at Dora who was like a a branch or two lower. Cassia had forgot to bring bread or anything for the docks. Good thing she had her Ravenclaw friend with her to think ahead for both of them. The snake kept her eyes towards her friend and kept still until she was sure that Dora had regained her footing. Good. Only then did the snake look back up and search for the next branch she was going to use. She paused trying to decide between two, one was closer but she didn't really find a spot that'd work as a foothold. So she decided on the a bit further one but with safe footholds beneath it. She took a breath in, extended her arm and grabbed the branch giving herself a boost so she good bring her feet simultaneously to the new foothold. She kept gripping the branch until she made sure she wasn't going to lose her footing.

She inched closer to the branch's base and hauled herself up so that she sat on it, her feet dangling. She felt the drops of sweat on her forehead already and decided to rest for like a minute till Dora made it to the same level. They weren't going that fast but it was better than consuming their strength very fast. Baby steps.

"The view is awesome from here," Though she wasn't that high up, she still good see part of the grounds and all the pond of course.

She was looking for Martin and she didn't see him still which was kind of sad. It was dark, though. She figured maybe he'd be harder to see in the dark and maybe he was off cuddling with the other ducks and being cozy. N'awww, Martin! She'd noticed how smiley Alec was too, by the way. She approved. Ella very much liked when Alec was smiley and she gave his hand a small squeeze in return. This was nice.

And when they'd both put the spell on their eyes, Ella smiled at the boy and nodded. "Yup, now we find Polaris A, B, and Ab." Slight blush cause ab and yeah...yeah. Anyway.

Oh and they could hold hands again now. Seeing as they weren't using the sextant this time she didn't see why not. The blonde reached for Alec's hand and laced their fingers together, a small smile on her face. There, she was ready to find them now.

Looking up, the sixteen year old tilted her head and began the familiar search for the big dipper. Hm. It was most certainly right up-"There." And was it weird that she was talking to herself? Shrug. She followed the pointer stars and eventually landed on Polaris, a small smile playing on her lips. "I think...I found Polaris and maybe..." SQUINT. "That could be Polaris Ab...maybe." She still didn't see Polaris B, though. Maybe Alec would be able to find it?

Kace was wondering too. He knew his Captain Ella would be mad at him if he got hit with a bludger. He didn't wanna feel the pain of it at all. He hoped he never will. Then Kace was curious, "What is the worst injury you ever encountered? I mean since we are talking about technically getting hit by blugders." he finger quoted around the word technically and laughed to Lexa.

When he asked if he was on outside kid, Kace nodded excitedly. "Yeah i like to be adventurous and all. I like to explore the castle as much as i can. If you wanna join sometime you can." Hence why he was near the duck pond. He loved exploring the outdoors.

Kace agreed with Lexa on the Owls not being cuddly. It was true. He missed having his dogs around to cuddle with. "Wait your kneazle likes hunting other people's pets? I never heard of that." Then again he didn't know much about Kneazles in the first place....maybe he would learn something about them today.

WEEEE~ DUCKIES~! weren't they the most lovable, cutest , adorable creatures in the entire world?! Daichi thought so and no matter how many times he came down here he still had a big grin on his face when he reached the duck pond.

But he wasn't here to watch the ducks right now, he was working on his astronomy activity. "Sorry duckies, i can't play right now" he said in a sad tone and watched the ducks as they completely ignored him. It didn't matter to Daichi though, just being here made his day aaaaall better :3

Holding the sextant by his side, the Slytherin looked up at the night sky and having found polaris a few times now it was fairly easy to located it. Just search for the brightest star. He squinted his eyes and after a few moments he located the Ursa Minor constellation and TADAAA~ Polaris!

QUACK!

"Yes, you're right Ducky! That is Polaris" he casually said to the brown colored duck that had decided to join him. QUACK! "yeah yeah, i know i have to use the sextant now"

Mooore Polaris. Because she needed to find Polaris B and Polaris A, which technically she had already seen tonight but with the human eye and that was not close enough. Not according to Airey.

So spell time on the eyes it was. Last time the spell wasn't too bad, only a little bit of irritation. Maybe this time it would be better? Her eyes were probably more used to it by now, so chances were it could be, but she'd have to see.

Wand out and aimed at her eyes Ness whispered the incantation. "Oculo Focalis." She tapped her eyelids and blinked three times.

Now for testing. She looked up to the sky and zoomed in and out a bit, making sure she actually had done the spell correct. Which she did.

Badger finding skills, time then.

Alright so he made it to the Duck Pond. He could do this. There was something strangely relaxing about hearing the ducks quack in the pond. It was quite chilly here but he would do this fast. Alright this will be the last time he was gonna do this. But now he needed to find the Polaris System?? Hmmm....he needed to do the charm for that. Oh what was it??? Occulus Foccalis? Nope it was called Oculo Focalis! Yup that was it!

He looked up into the stars and then he tapped the wand on his eyes and he said "Oculo Focalis!" and then his eyes were readjusting and then he could see!! Ahhh he could see SO much clearer! He need to find Polaris A and B and AB. Let's see what he could find.....

He was scanning.....scanning.....scanning....scanning the sky for these pesky little stars.

QUAAAAAAAAAAAAACK~!

Daichi giggled as more ducks waddled towards him to see what he was doing. Of course they were just walking around the pond, not interested in the student but in Daichi's mind, they were looking at what he was doing. yup.

Holding up the sextant to his eye, Daichi looked through it and began to search the horizon. Then he pressed down the clamp at the bottom and bringed the star to the horizon and let go of the clamp. He swung the sextant to check it and began to read the angle numbers.

17? No, wait it was 18! He lowered the sextant again and wrote down on his note book.

He needed to find Polaris and all his little friends. They could be tricky. Well Kace looked into his notes, good thing he brought it with him and then he found it! Well Polaris had AB right next to it. So he scanned for Polaris and he found AB! It was right next to it. Alright check mark for that!

Then he wanted to find B since he already found A without realizing it. He could see the stars most clearly. He was loving this activity! Then he scanned a little bit downwards and he found Polaris B. He found it! It was only a little ways down. He was finally done with the assignment because he checked it off with his quill.

Yup he was done. He already had his sexton packed and he closed up his notebook and quill in his bag. Then he said "Finite!" and tapped his eyebrows and then he could see regular again. He put his wand in his bag and slung his bag over his arm and then trudged up to the castle to hand his parchment.

So... Martin wasn't anywhere to be seen. Nor were many of the other ducks, actually. Alec looked down at the watch Ells had given him for their one year anniversary before looking back across the pond again. Maybe ducks just had an early bedtime? And speaking of Ells, Alec looked over at her and grinned before squeezing her hand back.

"Awesome!" he said, placing the sextant in his bag with one hand, "Hopefully they won't be too hard to find." Because the sooner they got this over and done with, the better, right? Yeah? Maybe the ducks will come out by the time they were done too! GRIN.

He looked down at their hands and interlocked fingers and grinned again before looking back up. Right. Focus. They had three things to find this time and that couldn't be done if they were distracted, yeah? His eyes searched out for Cassiopeia and he was following the route from the top of the middle of the 'W' when Ells had found the Big Dipper. Really. That... was FAST!

"Yeah, looks like that is Polaris!" GRIN. "And if that's Polaris and that's Polaris Ab then... that must mean..." Polaris B. Where... are... you? Frown. ... OH! HEY! "There! That could be Polaris B, right?" he asked, pointing up at the sky.

QUACK.

Blink. Was that a duck? She looked at the pond for a moment and just looked at the thing. If it came anywhere to close she would screech so she gave it a look in warning then looked up at the sky.

With a zoom of her eyes Ness began focusing on looking for Polaris once more. It was a bit hard looking for it with such strength and zoom and so she lessened it a little, find the little dipper and spotted Polaris at the end. Only after that she zoomed in again, this time only on Polaris.

It looked different now. There was a tiny, tiny dot beside a big one. Made sense according to what Airey said. The big one was Polaris, small one Polaris Ab. Now Polaris B...that was meant to be a little more away. Going a little down with her eyes in a South-East direction the badger searched till eventually. Plop. There was another dot. Polaris B found too then.

So back to the castle and warmth? She thought so for sure, especially cause that duck was still staring at her.

So....why NOT the Duck Pond? Dylan didn't personally like ducks, mind...but this was a golden opportunity. Was Duckchi around? He looked, not immediately catching sight of his fellow leader...How sad. The Captain had been hoping to....see him...

...or push him into the Duck Pond. Either one. Surely Duck person would want to swim with the ducks...Really, Dylan was willing to do him a favor.

...ANYWAY...back to the assignment.

Ahem.

His eyes were still magnified...as he looked skyward, again. He could make out certain stars...Dylan squinted, spotting Orion...which was the wrong direction to be looking...He needed to go...more to the right...and up some...Hmmm...There was Ursa Major...but he needed Urse Minor...since Polaris was in it's handle and all...

OH. THERE. Right. Merlin, his eyes felt itchy.

Time for the sextant thing...The Captain had to admit, he wasn't a fan.
