Between the Quidditch Pitch and the Front Gate is a small pond. Not more than thirty feet across in any direction, this small body of water is home to eight ducks. This is a peaceful abode, shaded by leafy trees and graced with five rickety, wooden benches. Much like next to Broc and Bonny’s pen, Mr. Firth has provided a container that holds small pieces of bread that the ducks love.
However, just like in the Butterfly Garden, you notice a small sign in the same scrawl that is clearly Mr. Firth's handwriting. This one reads: "Due to budget constraints, we can no longer stock bread for the ducks." A careful observer would also notice that there seem to be fewer ducks than there were last year.
Forrest giggled at her way of saying television."It's a close call with wizarding names," he teased lightly, keeping his smile. Really. Television was nothing compared to Quidditch, if you asked him.
And he laughed again, his good mood restored quickly. "We can teach each other everything and try each other's weird stuff and all!" Last time he got this excited for being friends with someone was 2 years ago when he'd started his new school in Saudi Arabia. He looked away for a moment, cheeks all flushed with excitement. "It's marvellous."
He had to write about her to his mum. He knew she'd be delighted to hear he had a friend at last, and a great friend that can help him too!
Kahlan, you've just commited the biggest error of your life.
"Football's the BESTESTEST game in the WORLD! It's--but you have never watched it?" He was CONFUSED. It was the most popular game in the world. Even wizards ought to know it! Because it was--football, almost the only thing that could move the world.
"As soon as I find a ball, we'll play it." Settled, no arguments. There might be no television due to technological inadequacy, but they could not stop him from playing it. Her error of never hearing what it was had to be corrected, and he'd see to it. He thought the fire in his heart was almost extinguished, at least buried deep down, but she'd just invigorated it and no one could stop it now.
His stomach groooowled again, like it did at Hufflepuff table, and he got up, facing her.
"Shall we eat lunch?" He was paying too if she didn't have money, in literal sense at this school.
A smile remained on the pure-blood's face as she nodded slightly, thinking about all the random things that she could think of where the words seemed completely nonsensical. "Yeah... we could, couldn't we?" she thought aloud thinking about what kind of things they could learn from each other.
Kahlan was definitely looking forward to that considering she found everything so... confusing. The cars, technology, books, culture, clothes though she was quite sure that her clothes were quite cool, although that was just her opinion... all the things just made her even more confused about how they managed everything with magic - and also how both places managed to be so different even if they were pretty much side by side.
Seeing the sparkle in Forrest's eyes as she mentioned football she realized that this boy was just as passionate about football as she was about Quidditch.
"Deal" the girl agreed, a small smirk as she nodded competitively. Even though he'd played a lot longer, and also she knew nothing about the sport she was definitely going to give it her best and see how far that ended up getting her.
Because she wasn't going to lose easily - she had too much pride to do that.
Hearing his stomach growl, and the boys offer of lunch she smiled, feeling her own stomach churning and begging for food. "Sounds like a good idea" she replied with a smile, though while she was hungry she wasn't really looking forward to the food itself.

After he found the third potion ingredient, Richard kept wandering on the school grounds to find another checking his watch from time to time. The watch showed it to him that there was not much time left and he needed to think of something to find around quickly or find one...do whatever. He needed that last ingredient to take to Lafay.
Sighing a bit, he looked at his reflection on the pond water and that was when he realized where he was. There were a few ducks about yet they were silent apparently not feeling like quacking.
What else could he take? Maybe he could go back to the Greenhouses. Yeah. No doubt there were plenty of things to collect there. Why had he even left the place anyway? He could very well collect all the four there and go back to the class. Absentmindedly, he looked down at his handsome reflection again and his gray eyes widened a bit when he saw something move in the water.
Good Merlin! It was a newt!!!
Newts were very well used in potions. Without thinking much, he watched closely before quickly splashing his hand into the the water. Miss. He attacked again and on his fourth try he caught the slimy and wet creature. He was going to take the amphibian to Lafay and she could took care of it. Filling a jar half with the pond water, he dropped the newt into it and closed it. He was good to go now.

Weren’t there more ducks here last term? Gwen eyed the ducks which were swimming around. Hmm. Since she hadn’t spent a lot of time here in the past years, she wasn’t really sure how many ducks there were supposed to be. Erm. But they DID seem to be fewer this year. The seventh year just tried to think of an explanation for this.
Hmm.
Seriously now-
Did Daichi steal some of the ducks? Erm. Fine. Maybe it was a bit silly to assume that… but ehhh. The Ravenclaw gave a quick look around, eying the ducks which were still at the duck pond.
Minerva shrugged, "Well your probably right, but it's a funny name and fits him so well." He did seem like a grumpy gargoyle, so she was going to continue calling him grumpy. "I'm thinking your right on the command thing." She was still chuckling over her gargoyles mistake in the word. As she watched Susan do another command and snapped her head up in concern when she heard Susan say ouch. "You alright?" She didn't take Susan's hand to inspect right away, but was ready to examine it if she seemed to have hurt it worse then just a sting.
Looking back at her gargoyle she tried to think of something else for it to do. If they were doing a show, what would be something that could get the crowd excited. She thought of something and got into her bag. Pulling out her quill, "Let's pretend this is a flower." Of course shew as talking to Susan, not the gargoyle. Gargoyle boy was still stone at the moment, so he couldn't hear what they were saying. Waving her wand above his head, "Piertotum Locomotor" As the gargoyle did it's typical look, Min smiled, "Grumpy, take the quill to Susan" She pointed towards Susan so that the Gargoyle knew who that was. Watching he looked back and forth between the two girls, then picked up the quill and walked over to Susan. Once in front of her, he lifted the quill as in handing it to her.
Minerva smiled, "Good Job Grumpy, Finite"
Susan shook her hand and then inspected it after her gargoyle had grapsed her hand so tightly. It looked a little red and she had some faint marks on her hand but other than that all looked well. She would remember no hands on contact with anything stone. Sue turned to Min, "I'm fine, thanks. Just hurt for a sec is all." Susan watched Min pull out her quill. Pretend it's a flower, ok Sue could do that. "Ok" Sue watched as Min's gargoyle gave her the quill. "Aww, thank you. Your gargoyle seems to be getting a little better." Sue was kind of reaching with that comment, he still had that what now look.
"Since mine doesn't interact well with others I think I will keep to himself when doing an activity. Piertotum Locomotor" Sue's gargoyle patiently waited for her to give a command. "Throw a stone into the water, gently." Sue didn't want any of the few ducks to get hurt. Sue watched as her gargoyle walked over to the edge of the water and picked up a stone and lightly chuck it into the water. Unfortunately it was right next to a duck. The duck got scared and flew to the other end of the pond. Sue couldn't help but laugh out loud. "Finite. Well he did throw it gently." Sue giggled. "Maybe next time I should say in which direction."
Her next stop was the Duck Pond. She remembered seeing a sign about Pond Slime somewhere... probably in Diagon Alley or... some place like that.
Sophie looked around trying to find something she could take. She saw a classmate getting hold of something at a distance and watched him for a bit before looking back at the pond.
What would Pond Slime be, exactly? Just... slime?
Well, she would have to find out, wouldn't she? Not a problem!
Stepping to the edge of the pond, Sophie knelt down and stared a bit at its surface. The fifth year rolled up her sleeve and put her whole hand in the water. Gahhh, it was cold! Not freezing, horribly cold, but cold anyway. She felt the underwater for a bit, searching for what to grab. When what felt like a bunch of thick hair started to tangle around her fingers, she grasped a handful of those and pulled it all up.
Merlin! That was a lot of algae! Or... Pond Slime? Or whatever. It looked interesting though! And magical, why not?
She would take it!

Well now Nigel only need one more ingredient to be done. He tought about what to get for it. But he did not know so he went to the duck pond. THat had no ducks. He could not even find any bread cumbs to use for this assignment. Now that was bad.
Nigel kicked some dirt in frustration and realized that why not use dirt. No he could. He moved over to the pond and looked inside. He spotted a leech in the water. Well he could use that .
Nigel magiked the leech into a test tube and started to go back to class with his ingredients.

She waved her wand, " Piertotum Locomotor" The gargoyle looked at her and Minerva smiled down, "Pretend to sleep" She watched as the little statue laid in the grass and put his hands to his head like a pillow. "Well that must have been an easy one for him."

Sue giggled at herself, she could always make herself laugh, though everyone else just kind of looked at her like she was crazy whenever that happened. "I think it's time for a wake up call." Sue was thinking it was time to have some fun. "Piertotum Locomotor." Susan smiled mischeviously at her gargoyle "Wake up the other gargoyle with some water from the pond." Susan watched as her gargoyle once again walked to the edge of the pond and put it's hands together to make a "cup" and bent down to fill it's hand with water. But unfortunately the water kept running out of his hands and he could keep it in them. Sue frowned and took pity on her gargoyle since he already bent down three times to get water to no avail and ended the spell. "Finite" She turned to Min "Looks like Grumpy lucked out this time. Next time I'll give mine a cup to fill" Susan smiled at Min hoping she knew it was all just good fun.

It was a walk to get all the way out here to the duck pond, but Dora had the ingredients she wanted set in her mind, and she was determined to have them all no matter how long it was taking her to get them all. It would probably take her almost all the forty five minutes. Wondering around the pond for a bit, trying to keep away from the ducks who seemed to think that she was carrying food for them. Silly birds.
Finding a good spot that was all gross looking, she bent down and pulled out another vial, and dipped it into the pond carefully, gathering up a good deal of the slime. She pulled out her wand and cleaned the vial before slipping it into her pocket with the cat hair.
Now off to find her third ingredient.

Mika had calmed herself down a bit more again after her slip up. You never, ever, ever ask a friend about their shampoo. Unless it is a girl in your down that smells like raspberries and you’d eat their shampoo if you could. Only then did you ask.
But his reaction to being nervous around her just made her eyebrows knit together. She was thoroughly confused. She just brushed it off because he was probably nervous that she was going to give him food she made and she wasn’t going to do that…or it was about that spider he mentioned earlier, speaking of which something was off. The way he had said it didn’t sit well with her.
She had no idea what was going to happen when he moved her head – she didn’t think this. She thought maybe he was going to shake her and tell her to calm down…not kiss her head and then put his head right down where it had been before. He was preventing her escape.
“Its just fear don’t worry” she muttered over to him and she couldn’t help but laugh when he mentioned toad. “Yeah don’t mind that question I’m just weird…” her ears were pink. Hopefully he couldn’t tell. “So, your dorm was a total mess as well?” She asked, her confusion on the Ravenclaw-being-clean thing still pertinent. “Ravenclaw was clean I mean…someone obviously took the time to make sure we had no idea that the rest of the school was such a mess.” Heck they’d even had their things. She squirmed a bit her brows knitting together in confusion had he just actually kissed her forehead.
“Oh” she gasped. Shock was the one thing her face resembled right now. “You…” she bit her lip to keep from saying the wrong thing. “You don’t think they just forgot about Ravenclaw on purpose so we wouldn’t realize the school was a mess?” She asked the sentence not fitting right with the sound of her oh, and you…seriously, she was about to ask him if he liked her but she pushed the ridiculous thought from her head.

Penelope, actually, had never really been to the duck pond much in all her time at Hogwarts. The ducks were cute, of course, and the pond was nice, but it just didn't strike her as a place to visit constantly. There were other places that were much more interesting to her. But it was starting to get closer to winter, which meant cold, and she felt like taking a stroll around the grounds before all semblance of warm weather vanished completely. This stroll led her to the duck pond eventually.
Now what? Stare at the ducks since there wasn't any bread or move on to some place else or...talk to that Ravenclaw over there eyeing the ducks?
Yeah, sure, why not.
"You like ducks?" Yeah, that seemed like a good conversation starter.

"Hey mate!" he said grinning at the guy. ... Just saw? Sign? Ducks? Yeah. "Yeah, I just saw. Looks like the budget cuts have affected everything, eh?" Sad, really. Really really sad. "Duckie daddies? So we have been blessed with the power of looking after the duckies?" Which didn't sound bad at all. GRIN.

Alec sort of stared at his hand and then at Tag's hands and the way he was eating the ice cream that Alec had brought down. His ice cream. Without saying anything. And in his usual mood, he would have been slightly offended or weirded out that the guy had just taken his ice cream and eating all of it or as much as Tag was eating but instead...
... Alec burst into laughter.

He reached over and patted the guy on the shoulder as his laughter died down. "Were you really that hungry?" And the ice cream was brilliant? AWESOME!

Alec had never seen Tag this annoyed before. Or upset. But it was understandable because, hey, the ducks! No bread! So yeah, Alec could understand what the guy was talking about if he wasn't in such a good mood himself. Even if seeing Tag in this mood was very surprising for Alec.
And Jake wasn't nearby. More surprise.
"Hey mate!" he said grinning at the guy. ... Just saw? Sign? Ducks? Yeah. "Yeah, I just saw. Looks like the budget cuts have affected everything, eh?" Sad, really. Really really sad. "Duckie daddies? So we have been blessed with the power of looking after the duckies?" Which didn't sound bad at all. GRIN.

Alec sort of stared at his hand and then at Tag's hands and the way he was eating the ice cream that Alec had brought down. His ice cream. Without saying anything. And in his usual mood, he would have been slightly offended or weirded out that the guy had just taken his ice cream and eating all of it or as much as Tag was eating but instead...
... Alec burst into laughter.

He reached over and patted the guy on the shoulder as his laughter died down. "Were you really that hungry?" And the ice cream was brilliant? AWESOME!
"Everything! Even our babies." Tag said with an angry frown. Why the ducks? What had the ducks ever done to the school but provide them with entertainment and the bond of Tag and Alec. The ducks had never done anything wrong! Why were they being punished? "Yeah, we've been blessed. In fact, I think this is like training to be duckie daddies of the future you know. Get a feel for how it'll be actually owning our own ducks." Nod, nod. Maybe it wasn't all bad?
Tag contentedly continued eating his Alec's ice cream, with a huge beam on his face all the while. Oh no, the ice cream was beginning to melt and now it turned into ice cream soup.
With a smirk on his face Tag dipped his hand into the bowl and a few droplets of ice cream soup collected on his fingertips. He then reached over with his fingertips and began to move them through Alec's hair, styling it.
Finally, after feeling crammed up in that dusty castle despite the many walks she took outside Kahlan had managed to once again escape the place and wander towards the duck pond again. Despite the fact that it wasn't that pretty here either there was something about the place that made her smile, even if it was just a sad smile as she thought of what it could look like.
Seeing a bench the girl slowly wandered over before sitting down, closing her eyes for a moment as she felt a slight breeze go by.
Finally, after feeling crammed up in that dusty castle despite the many walks she took outside Kahlan had managed to once again escape the place and wander towards the duck pond again. Ducks, Sonea WANTED to catch a duck, even now that she knew that it was not allowed. She hoped that nobody would see her when she tried to catch one and that nobody would warn the groundskeeper. The reason why Sonea wanted to catch a duck was simple, she wanted to surprise her friend Daichi, he had told Sonea once in her first year that he loved ducks and because he was always so nice to her she wanted to give him a surprise, and giving him a duck was the best thing Sonea could think of!
Now, after a few minutes she was standing by the duck pound, armed with a pink landing net to catch the duck. But when Sonea looked around her she saw that a lot ducks were gone! When she had been here for the first time with Daichi she had seen a LOT ducks, they were everywhere! But where were they now? Didn’t they liked it on Hogwarts and had they gone away? Sonea frowned and knew that it would be difficult to catch a duck now that there were so many of them… “This is not good” said Sonea to herself and noticed a girl she knew, she was sitting on a bench with her eyes closed. “Hi Kahlan, how are you? Do you want to help me with something? I’m trying to catch a dusk! I must say that it probably is not allowed, but if nobody would see it there would be no problem!” Sonea laughed cheerful and hoped that Kahlan wanted to help her.

Then she was asked if she wanted to help with something... catching ducks in fact. Glancing at the ducks over by the pond she bit her lip.
"Sure, let's try this" Kahlan replied, jumping up off the bench...

Catching a duck would definitely be interesting!
“The lessons are indeed awesome, but you are right, it is dirty on Hogwarts, but i hope that that would change soon!” said Sonea still smiling. “Will you also a landing net? I have a spare one in my bag, I have a magical bag where I can put everything in wants, and I would be never full!” Said the young girl proud while she opened her bag and searched for another pink landing net. When she had found one she gave it to Kahlan so that she could also try to catch a duck!
“Oh, I see one!” whispered Sonea while she pointed with her finger toward a white duck who was walking only a few meters away from them! “Let’s try to catch this one!” Sonea did slowly a few steps forward and looked behind her to Kahlan. “Will you try to catch the duck from behind and maybe he would not see you because he is watching me” Sonea sounded excited while she did again careful a few steps forward…
