This square, stone area is the middleman between the castle and the grounds. Thick columns enclose this space, while elegant ivy creeps its way up the pillars. In the center, water plays merrily down a multi-tiered fountain, which provides a pleasant background for conversations. Whether it is a bench to sit on, a quiet place to study, or a hang out spot for friends, there are many ways students use this open-air location.
Gwen gave a small nod and, without looking back at the goblin or the students who were close to the fountain, she started walking away, heading to the corridor. From there, they could decide if they should go somewhere inside the castle, or somewhere around the grounds.
Anyway, Zeke was right- there were too many people gathered at the fountain. As she took a couple more steps, the seventh year couldn’t help but think that Ezekiel had changed his mind about well… what he had said.
Mental sigh.
And anyway- the more she had to wait to find out what was probably bad news, the more nervous she was. So… better just get over it? Hmm. Just like ripping a bandage. So, as they were at a distance from the other people, and quite close to one of the columns by the corridor to the courtyard, Gwen suddenly stopped and looked back at him. ‘Actually, Zeke…’, she started saying, not really sure how to end the sentence.
Erm. Think, Gwendolyn, think…
‘I’ve been meaning to ummm talk to you after that Hogsmeade weekend’ That seemed to be a good starter. If anything could be called 'good' in this conversation. Ehhh. And now the harder part would inevitably have to follow. ‘I’ve been at the Three Broomsticks and you… weren’t there…’ And after waiting for a few minutes, she decided to leave. ‘… so I decided to leave because I thought that you changed your mind anddidn’twanttoseeme’ She had probably said the last part of the sentence way too fast.
But now this didn’t make much sense. If he didn’t want to meet her, then why was he upset now? Maybe he just didn’t want to talk to her right now? But he was the one who started with that silly ‘we need to talk’ sentence. Come on…
Ravenclaw thinking.
A moment of silence followed, as Gwen tried to figure out what this was all about. Aaaand she will get it in
…3…
…2…
…1…
‘Nonono’, she mumbled silently and put her cold hand on her forehead, as a sign of frustration. ‘You have been there, haven’t you?’ And she just ruined EVERYTHING. Ughhh. She felt awful for not having waited a bit longer. She probably had arrived at the Three Broomsticks too early, anyway. Maybe she thought she was running late (because it was typical for Gwen to run to get on time in the last minute). Yes, that was probably it.
But still, time management wasn't a good excuse. She just looked back at the Gryffindor. Maybe this wouldn't change much but... 'I'm sorry' There goes the most sincere apology she has ever given.
The soon to be eighteen year old simply raised his eyebrows at her as Gwen followed willingly. This seemed easy. Though Zeke knew for sure that it definitely was not going to be easy. Not at all.
He walked beside her, not uttering a single word. He was being awfully quiet...thinking. Just thinking. He stopped when she did. Listened to what she said. You could probably say he looked more like a mannequin from a shop who'd come to life but lacked the gift of speech.
Staring at his shoes, Zeke listened intently to what Gwen had to say. Inside he was kind of shocked, but his face showed no emotion. To put it blatantly, the seventh year seemed unfathomable as of the moment.
Finally, after what seemed an entire moment of awkwardness, he nodded. Yep. He was there...waiting for what seemed like an eternity. Once he got back to the castle, bursting in front of the Ravenclaw Common Room to demand what she wanted from him, ditching her like that, Zeke decided it was best to just let it go. 'If it was meant to be, it was meant to be. If it's not, it's not.' That, he repeated in his head again and again until he was sick of his own thoughts. She didn't come, that seemed like an easy enough message to decipher.
Just when he's made up his mind to never see her again, stupid as he was, he still suggested that they talk things out. And apparently, "sorry" wasn't gonna get anywhere. He got the message, so she doesn't want him in her life, end of discussion. Somewhere between that Hogsmeade weekend and today, Zeke had owled Evie, and she owled him back. They've patched things up. Their roller coaster kind of relationship was back on track and once the ride begins....there's no going back.
The statuesque Zeke spoke, "Let's end this." Three words. "Whatever this is." And three more words. That's what it took. Getting to a more private place didn't seem to matter to him now anymore. He wanted to get this over with. As soon as possible.

Now.
No reaction from Zeke. Not a word. Nothing. Gwen just stared at her shoes for a moment, trying to think about what she should say. But she had said everything she wanted to tell him anyway. But still... it seemed that something was missing. In attempt to figure out what to say, the seventh year looked back at those amazing blue eyes, which actually only managed to confuse her even more.
So she drew her attention towards the courtyard, eyeing some of the columns. It was getting quite cold, so maybe it would have been a better idea to go inside and talk but well... the discussion seemed to be over, since Zeke was not going to reply anything.
Though, in the next moment, she heard the Gryffindor say something. Whatever this is?!‘Whatever?’, she said, trying to sound neutral, but she failed terribly because of her trembling voice. Just trying to keep being distant was not working. Ughhh. She wasn’t used to this. She generally didn’t really care about other people. But Zeke. That was a whole different story. Apparently, he was the person she actually CARED about. And now this... this was just awful.
Never mind how everyone kept saying how great it is to care about someone and be in love. Well. Newsflash: it was AWFUL. So... ‘If that’s what you want...’, she finally said with a sigh, biting her lip and not looking at him right now. Because she knew she would be just broken if she did. Ughhh. Pathetic, Greene. This is just pathetic, she thought.
Eventually, Gwendolyn looked back at him. ‘So you didn’t actually mean what you said at the lake’ Just deciding to end this wouldn’t have been this easy. Which meant that she was just foolish.
He flinched a little at hearing her voice. That quivering tone of hers that made him feel as if he did the deadlist crime on earth. He hated to hurt people, but you just couldn't please everyone. "I'm sorry...." his soft voice trailed off. It was kind of difficult to think at the moment, let alone breathe. Trying to compose his thoughts, Zeke couldn't think of any more to say. To be honest, he couldn't even man up and actually face Gwen. Not once did he try to look at her in the eye, afraid that he might change his mind and give in once he does.
'I don't know what I want.' No. You have chosen, Zeke. Stand by your decision. You can't afford to hurt anyone ever again, and this is the best path to take. That was what he thought, at least.
His jaws were clenched as tight as his fists were. His uneven breathing also gave him away somehow. He was doing his best to seem nonchalant. To look like this was easy. To appear stone-hearted. That way she'd accept it more willingly. Before the expected tears could escape upon hearing the last words she'd said, he closed his eyes, took a deep breath, bit his lip, and did his best to muster up a smile. "Good-bye, Gwen." He opted not to answer her question....or else things would drag on longer, which was far from what Zeke wanted.
With that, he patted her shoulder, half-smiled, turned around, and walked away without another word.

It had taken her no less than four years to finally say an ‘I love you’ and look at the consequences. Whoever said that love was great was CLEARLY DELUSIONAL.
As she drew her attention back to the Gryffindor, the seventh year noticed that he wasn’t looking at her. Really now- was Zeke that mad that he couldn’t even not look in another direction while he was talking to her? At first, when hearing that ‘I’m sorry’, Gwen was beginning to feel a bit better. Just a bit. But then she thought it was probably just one of those things people were supposed to say, even without meaning it.
Whatever.
‘So this is it?’ She didn’t really expect an answer. It was just that... ‘You could have told me this before and not change your mind after a few days’ He could have just ignored what she had told him at the lake. He was not obliged to answer something. Because it was impossible to just decide you hate someone because of what... time management?
Gwen turned her head to look back at the courtyard, trying to hide the tear that was visible in the corner of her eye. This is just silly. You have more important things to focus on. Like NEWTs and sending applications to universities. But as much as she was trying to convince herself to leave it like this, she just couldn’t. Pft. Who would have thought that Gwendolyn Greene, the person who hated these sentimental things would ever be in this mood?
And the next thing he said made her feel even worse. Good-bye. Ugh. That sounded awful. Almost as bad as ‘we need to talk’. Gwen didn’t reply anything, instead, she started walking away in the opposite direction.
All the time while he took step after step away from her, his mind was empty. Not a single thought. He couldn't even bring himself to think at all. Just a vast wide space of nothingness. NOTHING.
He heard his footsteps, the chatter of the other people around; he could feel the cold air run past through him; he could see the path where he was going. Yet....he couldn't bring himself to think at all. Zeke's mind was blank. Empty.
Maybe just one last look....
He twisted his body around and glanced at Gwen. For half a second he expected her to be standing there, looking at him. Waiting for him to return, maybe? That was an empty hope. He wanted her to be there, at the same time he didn't. If that made sense at all.
But as his cold blue eyes that were near to tears looked at where she stood moments ago....no Gwen. He let out a snort to himself, as if mocking his stupidity at what he had done. But then again, maybe it really wasn't meant to be. He loved Gwen though. He loved Evie as well. However after everything, Evie seemed to have dominated his heart. He wanted to protect her with all his life. She just seemed so fragile.
.......
Anyway, as he let out a chuckle to himself and sniffed once or twice, Zeke turned around with his vision all blurred up. Tears? His hand reached up to wipe them off. That won't do him any good now. It's over.

The cool air sure felt nice, didn't it? To this recent seventeen-year old badger, it did. Wade decided to enjoy the box of sweets his cousin had sent him for the occasion, out in the open. Hmm.. he was debating on having the acid pops or chocoballs first. Well, it was pretty cool out.. Not as much as up north, but meh. He unwrapped one of the acid pops, giving it a small lick before closing his whole mouth onto it.. Warm. Then Hot.. Very Hot!
"BAH!" He exhaled, letting that heat escape from his mouth.. and that little hole that seemed to have form in his tongue. Oh would he get Luc for this, later on. Just as fast as it formed, it seemed to close in again. No one saw that.. right? Heh.

Ronnie walked along the courtyard, shivering a little as a gust of wind almost blew her beanie off. She pulled it down more on her head to secure it. It was already snowing out...it felt like the year had only just started. She wanted this year to go by really slow. She wanted it to last.
As she walked, she noticed a familiar person sitting eating some sweets. She peered more closely and noticed it was Wade! She hadn't talked to him in a while. After making her way over to him, she sat down just in time to see him eating his acid pop. She chuckled. "Pretty hot, huh?" she asked with a smirk, hoping he didn't mind her coming and sitting by him.

Dreams had struck that previous night. Nothing terrible. Nothing nightmarish, merely things that left Elodie thinking, and missing her mother. Both of which she had decided the common room wasn't the place for, and had instead layered up and headed out into the winter weather. To think clearly.
Or to be alone.
Though, alone was not her favourite thing to be when feeling like this.
She wandered around aimlessly, her head slightly tilted toward the sky.

Walking into the courtyard wasn’t that fun of a thing in the middle of the cold cold month of December. But apparently the sky was interesting. That was what she thought as she eyed a certain puff girl who was watching the sky. She really wanted to know what was going on.
So, yeah. She was in one of those nosy moods…and she knew her – sort of. She was nice. So yeah – she deserved fireworks!
Skipping forward Mika stopped next to Elodie and beamed. “Helllooooo you” she beamed, “Elodie! How are things?” She asked the girl beaming at her – she had remembered that she was well, super nice. Yeah? Elodie was always nice. That was what she had remembered from when they had worked together on their star project.
“Looking for your little star?” She asked as she hadn’t really remembered her stars name. She remembered hers of course – but Elodie’s was another situation all together. "Or are the clouds just extra interesting today?" She asked and BEAMED some more. "Oh I have something for you" she nodded and took out a little bottled potion out of her pocket. It was wrapped of course in a horrendously PINK wrapping - since that was the color that was left. "I ran out of all the other paper," she admitted with a laugh.

Elodie turned her head quickly at the sound of someone saying her name, and blinked, before forcing a smile onto her face. "Oh, hey Mika!" She was pretty good with names, it seemed. But they had worked closely together last term, which was definitely fun. "Things are good! How are they for you, huh?" It was only polite of the Hufflepuff to return the kind gesture.
The conversation switched to their stars then, and with a last look up at the sky, Elodie shrugged. "You could say that." She had named her star after her mother..
Something for her? Elodie was slightly taken back by that, and squinted at Mika. "What...is it? I..You didn't have to." They weren't close or anything, barely knew one another even. She appreciated the pink though, it was a pretty colour.
Not the best wrapping. But what could you expect from teenagers?

Mika smiled at Elodie and nodded. She did notice the hint of Elodie not having the best of day possibly and just wanted to hug her. ”Are you heading home for break?” she asked and smiled kindly to the puff girl. It was strange – Mika was closer friends with the Puffs than her own house members. I must find out why that is she thought and continued smiling.
Elodie was squinting at her – and all Mika could do was beam. ”Its Fireworks potion” she beamed, ”Hey I wanted to, and it’s a way of saying ‘we should be better friends’” she beamed. “That and well, I thought it would be pretty fun to have everyone set um off ya know as a holiday celebration – or maybe new years…or even at the end of the game? You know to celebrate whichever team won?” she beamed.
What. She was just nice like that.

"Yeah, yeah. It's my nieces birthday coming up, so I like to be home for that. Plus..Christmas is important to us." What with only Braison living at the family home, as opposed to them all only a few years ago. "How about you, Mika? Are you going home?" Elodie didn't understand how people didn't go home, or somewhere. She felt confined being at school most of the year, and she missed her family too much.
Fireworks potion? Elodie dropped the forced smile, and replaced it with a real one, with a shake of her head. "Is that not dangerous?" She asked, concern ripe in her head. She didn't want to get injured this close to break. At all. "But I do agree...we should be better friends." Mika was nice, and Elodie needed more friends that were female, she barely had any of those.

She barely had friends, thinking about it.
She just smiled to Elodie. ”Aw, that sounds great how old is your niece?” she asked smiling even if she was blinking a bit and thinking how old Elodie’s brother or sister had to be for her to have a niece at fourteen. ”Yeah I am heading out tonight I think?” she beamed over to Elodie. ”Its also the first Christmas in London this year – since…mum and dad found a place closer to work – and its got a great floo!”
When Elodie asked if the potion was dangerous – and then said they should be better friends she beamed even more. ”We should be, heck…I kind of went all quiet and weird last term…and didn’t keep up with friends enough” it was the truth – she might have had a lot of acquaintances but she didn’t have a lot of friends herself.
Right. She’d asked about the potion. ”No its not supposed to be – its like magical sparkly explosions of light – kind of like wand sparks?” she admitted with a smile. She’d gotten it out of the potions book – and it was the easier potion to make.

Mila entered the courtyard, now much more comfortable, as she had changed into a warmer cloak to fit the cold air. She sat herself on a bench and pulled out her wand, absentmindedly twirling it around in her long black hair. Her emerald eyes searched around for familiar faces, her expression curious. Hogwarts students were always the most interesting of people.
Mila grinned to herself, her pale face lighting up for a moment. She continued twirling her wand and gazing curiously at the other students in the courtyard. She started to hum a quiet tune, her sweet voice traveling through the winter air. Mila loved singing, but was rather shy about it when there were lots of people around.
She didn't know what she was humming - it came from her mind, she supposed - and she stopped after awhile, losing ideas and also becoming paranoid of how loud she was getting. She pulled an apple from her pocket and bit into it, gazing now at her lap instead of at the other students. They must find me annoying, she thought. I'm only a second year, and I'm HUMMING to myself! She tried to think of more comforting things.

Just another lick, then. Afterward Wade once again exhaled a small burst of hot air after taking another one. They were addicting, despite the excessive heat, you know. To his right, he felt someone sit by him just then.
"Yeah, they-"" Wade then turned to the familar sound of the pretty young lady's voice before, oh lookie, it was Ronnie. Felt like ages since they last met up. "Oh, hey there." Her smirking made him smirk back, looks like they were now even in finding each other unexpectedly. Heh. "Just got Luc's gift.. Acid pops and chocoballs," Plenty of them, too. "Would you like one?" He waited to see if she took any before asking. "So, how are you these days?"

Elodie smiled as conversation turned to her nieces and quickly added up the years in her head to make sure she didn't get this wrong. "They're three this birthday!" Woah, they really were growing up fast. It was scary, because Elodie remembered when her brother told her that Alina had had the babies. "Christmas in London sounds cool! I hope you have a great time, Mika!" She herself would just be in New York, but home was home and she loved her home. Plus she was going to visit Kurumi too, so everything was happy.
A puzzled look fell over her face as Mika spoke, and she absently nodded. "Quiet and weird?" Well, that didn't seem entirely positive. Els could see any reason for that to happen to Mika, she always seemed so friendly and giving.
Which was proven today, wasn't it? "Oh, that sounds cool!" Elodie grinned, taking the pink wrapping off and folding it up neatly for keepsake. You never knew when you would need things like that. "How many have you handed out?"

Her smirking made him smirk back, looks like they were now even in finding each other unexpectedly. Heh. "Just got Luc's gift.. Acid pops and chocoballs," Plenty of them, too. "Would you like one?" He waited to see if she took any before asking. "So, how are you these days?"
She smiled. "Helloo." she said, glancing at his sweets when he mentioned them. Ooh! Chocoballs! "I'm not a fan of acid pops...but I love chocoballs. Thanks!" she said, taking one and popping it into her mouth.
"I'm great!" she truly was. Not even everything going on in the school with the cuts and all could bring her down. Life at Hogwarts was great. "What about you?" she asked, tilting her head a little.

Can't say Wade wasn't that surprised when she mentioned not liking acid pops. "No problem." More for him, later on then. Heh.
"Cool," Wade replied. He was glad, this year's changes to the school didn't seem to affect them that much anymore. Now, how was he? "I've been good," Smiling back at her. "You excited about the break?" Since she would get to try surfing.

Although it was a bit chilly outside Tag still decided on heading towards the open fresh air. It was good to get out of the castle and the common room in general because it could get crowded and stuffy. And, perhaps out here, if there were other people about Tag could people watch and make up stories and adventures about the students and his classmates.
Now that the holiday's were over he could see his friends, once again, on a daily basis and that was something to always look forward to when returning back to the castle.
So the blonde walked around the courtyard a few minutes and found that the bench was empty so he made his way over, and sat down, putting his hands in his jacket's pocket's to keep them warm.

And now for the final place on his short list of five, the Courtyard! Now, this was so vast that Jory did not know how long before he found find a green outline. "You've got your work cut out here,'' Jory. "Well, let's make a move.'' He raised the wand. "Spiritum Revelio!'' He traced that all too familiar counterclockwise circle before pointing his wand though it.
Nothing. "Spiritum Revelio!'' And so the search continued! "Spiritum Revelio!'' The Puffer was having no luck and he was running out of patience. Very UnPuffer like. He had now been searching for almost fifteen minutes. "Spiritum Revelio!'' Aha! Finally! A green outline!
Jory knew that many persons could have died here during the Battle of Hogwarts but he had a guess or two about who died here for sure. Well, that's it! He had completed his search of five different places.
Jory continued to look at the outline, feeling pleased with himself that he had completed another homework. He still had to complete others, like Arithmancy. Speaking of Arithmancy. Why not see if he could spot anything that the Golden Ratio could be applied to. The Puffer began looking around. Honestly, the Ratio still confused him a bit. Hopefully, he would get used to it soon. "Er, would a bench work?'' he wondered spotting the benches. "I think it would,'' he answered his own question. Yes, it could. He jotted it down in his book.

Minerva walked out in the courtyard. She was finishing up on her ice cream that she had gotten in the kitchen once she had left the common room. It was so fun to eat ice cream out in the cold. She didn't know why, but just the thought.. for one you were already cold so not a big deal there, and two it wouldn't melt.. Nope you didn't have to worry about it melting at all. Looking down she was frowning at her bowl, it was gone.. gone.. she would so get some more as soon as
BAM
ouch... She rubbed her head and looked up. Now who would have put that stone fountain there? Good thing it wasn't running since it was winter or she would have been very wet. Stepping away from it she looked around. Oh this was another place on the list. Pulling out the list she scanned the places. Yes.. Lupin there it was right there.
Sighing she really wasn't thrilled by this activity she did the wand movement and stuck her wand through the circle Spiritum Revelio She looked around, well maybe it didn't work this time. She didn't see anything and she should. He should be right around here..
Oh there he was.. or well the green marks of him...
Minerva frowned remembering that not only was he famous, but he was Maxwell's relative. She was looking at the green markings of a dead person who was related to her ex friend. This was just creeping her out she needed more ice cream.. YES more ice cream would wipe this image from her head.

Well, that was good that he was good. "I'm glad to hear it!" she said with a bright smile. Ronnie then nodded eagerly at his question. "I sure am! I can't wait." she told him. Surfing was so cool, and the fact that she'd be learning it pretty soon made her so excited...yet a bit nervous at the same time.

Lupin was meant to have died here, yeah? Ella frowned slightly as she paced around the courtyard, wondering where it could have happened. She couldn't imagine being struck down inside a place where you were supposed to feel safe and it made her feel a bit sad. Yeah, she just needed to concentrate on locating the spot where he...went.
Back to the fountain, the blonde pointed her wand towards the right and concentrated on the man. "Spiritum Revelio!" And she did the counter-clockwise movement and then went through the middle with her wand.
MERLIN. Lottie was so tired already. She wanted to have ice creaaaaaam. And there was not even ICE on the courtyard. A total disappointment.
Anyway. This location was a given, because lots of people had died in here while fighting during that Battle of Hogwarts awesomeness. But before she could drew her wand, she decided to scribble down a few notes. So, she was back to parchment and muggle pencil. She wrote a bit of what she might find and whatnot, but keeping in mind Remus Lupin.
Off with the pencil, on with the wand. Counter-clockwise circle, plus focus, plus Lupin, "Spiritum Revelio!" point. Squint. There was hardly any reason to squint, though, because there was a light outline (probably thanks to being outside, or something), and she didn't care if it belonged to Lupin, she'd found someone, that was good enough for her.

Shuffle.
Nothing happened.
Letting Ella choose where to go next, Nessie followed and got lead towards the courtyard. Who was it that had died here again? ....Pout...it was...Lupin. Yes him. That's what she remembered being told. That battle must've been real bad. Good thing Voldemort was long dead as were his Death Eaters the thought of being killed by any of them was beyond frightening.
Still pouting the redhead watched her kiddo go on with the spell. Hmmm...why wasn't her kiddo getting it right? Maybe some practice was all she needed. "How about you try again after me?" She looked at the girl as she shuffled and frowned slightly. She wanted her kiddo to get it properly.
"Spiritum Revelio!" She cast the spell, but not with full focus which may have been on purpose. Nothing. Ella could try again then? "You go, kiddo."
