A small red and white striped umbrella stall has been set up halfway down the main street. A number of hangers skirt the stall with small umbrella flowers hanging delicately from the sides. They're still growing, and the buds haven't opened yet. The rest of the stall is awash with various colours. Pink, purple and orange Puffapods, vibrant honking daffodils and teething Fanged Geraniums make their presence known by captivating the senses. With the noise and the colours who wouldn't be inclined to purchase a bit of happiness.
Professor Bentley, despite her size, has set herself up with a chair, a donation tin and her everyday bright smile.
The Price List is written on a large wooden panel in dark pink cursive writing.

Umbrella flowers! "Good choice, Ma'am,'' Jory said with a nod. "But er, they're actually two Galleons a piece.'' He glanced back at the price list, just to make sure. That would be forty galleons, then. He wondered how the woman arrived at ten Galleons.
And the Honking Daffodils. "They're young, yes but they would probably be honking a few days time.'' Jory waited patiently for the woman to process the information and decide on her purchase. His eyes wandered over to the others. Alexa seemed to be making much progress.
Sapphira almost put an arm around the boy like an old buddy, he was so young and so... naive. "No, no, no. That's not how bargaining goes, son." Pft. "I'm a shopkeeper myself-" sadly "-Listen how it goes. I say I want them for ten galleons, you tell me they're forty but you can so with thirty five, I say I won't buy flowers from students for thirty five galleons, you tell me it's for a good cause, I pretend to care and we both agree on thirty." She should've said twenty five but she didn't want the boy to feel defeated in his first shopkeeping business.
"I'll take five honking dafflodils for five galleons. Twenty umbrella flowers for thirty... now. Decide." She didn't have all day, you know. AND she just taught him her business in a nutshell. So. Really he should be giving her flowers for free.
Realised about the barraging after I hit post yesterday but was too lazy to edit >_<

Oh Jory knew what bargaining was. The amount of times he had seen his mom do it. He was just playing stupid. They needed to make as much money as possible, so he was trying without any bargaining first. He wasn't that silly. But he supposed he could give the lady a discount, she was ordering loads of flowers at once. But he nodded and smiled, as if the woman was teaching him something new.
Fine. he'd work out a deal. No problem. Ten galleons was too little. "I'll give you the twenty for thirty galleons,'' he told the lady. It was reasonable, wasn't it? But he'd be up for a bit more bargaining. But he was not going to make an offer much less than 30 galleons. If she decided to bargain a bit more, maybe he would give her them for 27. But then she mentioned the Daffodils again.
Jory brightened. He knew what he would do. "I'll give you the Umbrella Flowers for thirty and the five Honking daffodils for 3 Galleons.'' Now that was a fair deal. Buy more, spend less. Yes. That was his offer.

"Something about the way she teaches Herbology makes it fun and appealing even to those who do not like the subject.'' He himself had been apprehensive about the subject for a few of his earlier years but now that was all gone. "Hogwarts is very lucky to have her.'' Yup. And he would miss her when he left Hogwarts. So, Jory had given an honest reply. Now the man can go help his school? Pretty please?
Aron's chest may have puffed out a bit more at the boy's words. Of course he had heard Seren rave about her students to him time and time again - not to mention show him that one drawing done by a Mr. Odessa enough times that he was trying to convince her to just frame it - but he had never heard from any of her students. So this, this was a nice surprise. Not that he was entirely surprised by the praise, Seren was a fantastic educator.
She was going to be a brilliant mother.
"Excellent. Glad to know that my galleons will be going to good use then," he grinned as he picked up the box containing his new plants. "Best of luck to you, boy. Hope you all raise a good amount of money."
He was just about to leave when he tried to catch his wife's gaze again, throwing her a quick wink. "Dinner in the Three Broomsticks later, yes?" He would be there, but would probably apparate back home to drop off these plants first.

Another beam, "Good day to you! I hope you are well. yes, the proceeds of this sale goes towards Hogwarts, helping to educate for a better tommorrow" Sarah said. Sarah was a major supporter of education, she knew education was vital for the future. She hoped that she was being honest as in truth she still did think Hogwarts should be auditted, yet from following it in the Daily Prophet she knew that embezzling maybe was not the problem.
Sarah watched as the customer picked up the plant, "it is very easy to maintain. It has to be watered of course, yet other then that all it needs to be is occasionally trimmed. Oh and it grows best indoors, which brings me to another thing - it grows pretty big so it needs space".
What else... oh yeah fertilizing. It was not a self fertilizer. "Once a month it should be fertilized, and one can use dragon or hippogriff dung to do that". That was probably a lot for the lady to take in, yet Sarah had thought of it before hand. "If you want, I can give you a paper with all the information of its maintenance on it" Sarah had done that the night before, and she had added a few tips. Another charming smile, Sarah hoped the lady would buy it.
Sophie beamed at the younger girl she really took her role in the stand seriously and actually sounded like a real seller with her little speech about 'helping to educate for a better tomorrow'. "I'm very well, thank you for asking. I hope you are well too?"
The young girl then started to explain what kind of maintenance the umbrella flowers needed and Sophie’s brain immediately turned off. She was fed too much information in only a few sentences. Trying not to stress and keep calm Sophie said. "If it’s no problem then I would like a paper on how to care for the plant best?"
Biting on her lip she surveyed the other plants. "If I took one umbrella flower and four puffapods how much would it all cost?"
The pods would be a present to her mother that was coming home after a week away at a resort.

"Of course I am well, I think that having a beating heart is all one needs to be well, all else is extras. Yet as some people hold differently I still ask them" Sarah said. Another big smile.
"That would not be a problem in the slightest. I prepared them for just that!" Sarah reached for her satchel and pulled out a page with the instructions written on really neatly. "Here it is!" she said.
Sarah was really good at her mental maths, so it took about 3 seconds for her to calculate the amount in her head, "that will be 5 galleons and 9 sickles." she said. She hoped that was right...

OHMYMERLIN!
Seren had the clutch the edge of her chair to keep from falling. Did that woman just kill a bunch of their plants?! She wasn't sure if it was the hormones or if it was the cold or just the sadness of the event that occurred, ... but she was close to tears. Must be the hormones.
Biting her lower lip, Seren pushed back the tears and calmed herself by gently stroking the leaves of the small fanged geraniums beside her. Mummy was here.
It was, however, a good turn out. So she couldn't complain, though Puddifoot lady got on her nerves a bit. Honestly. It was a fundraiser! Who in their right mind would haggle at a fundraiser?! So rude. Though the woman was buying in bulk... which was good. Hhhmmm..
She'd managed to catch the tail end of Jory and Aron's conversation, and her brows were knitted in thought and amusement. Of course he had to interrogate her students.. she should have seen it coming. Though really, Jory's reply was heart warming, and she very quickly forgot about the drama with the clumsy redhead plant killer.
"Mmm?" she murmured, snapping out of her thoughts. It took her a while to process, because she'd lost focus, but she managed to piece together Aron's question in the end. "Sounds delightful," she grinned. She could hardly wait.
Seren was pleased to see Annie arrive, and David was just too cute, she gave him a wave, but the boy probably couldn't see her from where she sat.

"Awesome. Here is the two galleons and can you hold it for another couple seconds. While i donate"
Nigel handed her the two galleons and did not wait for an answer. He did not care if she followed along to see how much he donated. He walked over to Bentley and the donation tin. "Hello, Professor Bentley."
It was impolite at a fundraiser to not at least greet the person you were donating to. Once he finished greeting her. Nigel dropped 4 galleons into the tin. He was not the biggest fan of Herbology. But he like Professor Bentley.
Okay. Now he was ready to send his plant to his house, go over to the food table, and walk over to Truebridge and donate there as well.
Lex happily took the two galleons, lookit, two galleons richer!!! Oh and of course she would watch his plant while he was of donating. Anything to help him get his hand into his pockets easier and fork over something for the school. He didn't seem to have any problems in that department though but yeah, extra plant sitting, she could do that.
Hm?
Donating another four galleons after spending two. Not bad at all, she nodded slowly in approval. No badgering, no nothing but he went and donated all that. Neat! There should be more people like him. It would make her sales go easier and Bentley happier.
"Enjoy your plant!" She said, when he was finally ready to take it. "Don't forget to show it off, we'll get good publicity that way." And no she wasn't asking too much. Bragging was easy work.
SPOILER!!: Tag

"Mr. Leprechaun. Hehe. Sure, take your time Lex, no rush here." He reassured her as he began to drum on the side of his trousers as Lex did her required work. And soon enough Lex was spraying something into the plant and a few seconds later was passing it to Tag.
"Oh, I'll show it off like the pretty plant it is." He said merrily as he lifted the plant into his hands and held it closely to his chest. "Thanks, Lex. See you around." The little blonde said as he carefully gave her a one motioned wave goodbye.
"GREAT!!" She almost yelled. The plant would get some attention then him showing it off even more would send customers this way!! "Bye!" And he got an enthusiastic wave.
_____
Now back to looking for more customers...everyone seemed to have everything in control at the moment. No one was looking around in need of assistance so...Lex began adding water to some of the dryer plant soils. They needed to look nice and healthy because there was always that one REALLY annoying customer that thinks it's their job to point out everything that's wrong with your product. Mhm. She knew that kind.

Oh yes, that was how it was done. Sapphira smiled tentatively at the boy and nodded, "Thirty three it is then. See, young man, that is how you keep your customers and give them a reason to come back." Only this... wasn't a sale. It was charity for the youth's educational future or whatever. She didn't really care as much as she did to buy some flowers for her shop. As she waited for the boy to gather the flowers for her she took out her pouch and prepared the thirty three galleons.
sorry this is so late but I guess the sale is over now? xD

"So would you like those Fanged Geraniums that David picked out for you?" she asked.
David didn't really say anything else to the girl, as he only pointed to the flowers he wanted all the more insistently and then ran around to hide behind his mum's skirt. Why was the girl taaaalking to him, he didn't waaaant to talk to strangers. 'specially not strangers taller than him. And specially girrrrrrl strangers.
Annie ruffled her son's hair idly with a smile to the girl. "I'm glad to hear the sale's going well," she replied politely. "And yes, we'll take those ones exactly." She liked to let her little boy help out where he could. She knew it made him feel important.
