Support Hogwarts - Hogsmeade Plant Sale!

A small red and white striped umbrella stall has been set up halfway down the main street. A number of hangers skirt the stall with small umbrella flowers hanging delicately from the sides. They're still growing, and the buds haven't opened yet. The rest of the stall is awash with various colours. Pink, purple and orange Puffapods, vibrant honking daffodils and teething Fanged Geraniums make their presence known by captivating the senses. With the noise and the colours who wouldn't be inclined to purchase a bit of happiness.

Professor Bentley, despite her size, has set herself up with a chair, a donation tin and her everyday bright smile.

The Price List is written on a large wooden panel in dark pink cursive writing.

West was pretty keen about the plant sale stuff and he got there nice and early. He'd already familiarised himself with the prices for stuff (and made a mental note of it for future reference for himself in case he ever wanted to make a galleon or two) and now he was just sitting casually and waiting for some people to get attracted to the pretty colours.

He looked over at professor Bentley. "Hey professor? What are we going to do with any that we have left over?"

Team ronmione 06-15-2013 01:36 AM

As Tag was making his way through Hogsmeade he saw something that captured his attention. He slowly made his way over to this very colorful stall and stood about looking at all the various flowers.

He looked up curiously at the people standing by and asked, as he pointed at all these flowers, "What's this all about?" The blonde was only curious and wanted to know why something so different had shown up in Hogsmeade.

DaniDiNardo 06-15-2013 02:25 AM

Tag in here

Hogsmeade was happening again and once again she found herself behind a stall. Alexa didn't mind too much though, she'd asked to be here helping. For now she had a decent amount of candy on her so the candy shop wouldn't be all that tempting. She would stick it out. Besides, she'd found that selling could be fun, you know?

So far, the only other volunteer there was West. She gave him a nod of acknowledgement, being civilized and all.

While he asked questions she looked to the price list. Okay...she would probably need to learn those...oh Tag!

"We're having a plant sale." That was kinda obvious but she figured she'd answer with a smile anyway. "You mind drawing in some customers for us? Go around advertising and drawing people here?" He might as well since he'd bothered to ask. Just saying.

FearlessLeader19 06-15-2013 02:29 AM

Jory was all set to help out with the Plant sale. He had brushed up on his plant knowledge and had memorised the prices. So hopefully they were going to sell as much as possible if not all the plants. "Hi, Professor! And her little one,'' the Puffer said when he got there. "Hi, West, Alexa!'' he added to the Slytherin dude and Gryffindor girl.

And look! A student was inquiring about the event. "Hi, there!'' Jory said to the familiar student. But Alexa was already explaining it to him. "After you've advertised the sale, come back and support us,'' he added with a grin.

Yeah. He figured that much was obvious, Tag thought, as he smacked his own head. "Well, these are all very nice looking plants." Tag said as he nodded in return, while he continued to look at the pretty colors. "I think I may be buying one." He added with an other gentle smile.

Oh. So she wanted him to help them out and get more customers he guessed he could do that. The blonde simply nodded at her favor. "Err, yeah sure." Tag answered her slowly as he took a few step out back into the street and waved his arms madly about and began to do some weird shuffle dance. Those types of people usually captured Tag's attention in the shops whenever he went out to the stores in London. "HEY EVERYBODY! Errr. come out here and look at these pretty plants! YEAH! " Ok, that was lame advertisment of Tag.

"Err, maybe if I buy a plant right now, I might get some weird stares. Can tell the people where I got it from?" That was a good way to go on about it as well. Yes? Because people would be strolling nearby him.

oh its Erik ok 06-15-2013 02:45 AM

Nigel came over here because of the small red and white striped umbrella. It interested him. He had no idea what it was about. The flowers were cool and stuff. Maybe he could buy them. He got his monthly allowance for his uncle recently and had more than enough money to spend. So it might help if he asked Professor Bentley, Lex, or West. It appeared that they were apart of this. And what was with the donation tin Bentley?

"So what is this about. Is it a donation drive , or can i buy plants."

Not the best of job advertising what they were doing.

Jory at the end

"They sure are! They were grown with care and hard work, that automatically makes the quality real good." Nodnodnod. It was fantastic he thought they looked good, maybe he'd be more inclined to actually purchase one? It could happen.

Look how much of a good sport he was being too!! He was actually dancing around and drawing them some attention! Alexa watched, clearly amused. At least one good thing would come of this even if his dancing drew no customers. Which it didn't, not right away anyway. Eyes on Tag and his proposition. That was actually brilliant! "Good idea! You can buy the one you like best, er or maybe more than one if you can so when you walk people can have a good idea of what we're selling?" Yeah, that could work.

She waved her hand above the plants. "Which one do you wanna buy?" She felt obligated to recommend the most expensive; the school needed money, but at the same time, he should have taken the prettiest to grab everyone's attention. Ehhhhh. His choice.

"It's both you so you could do either--or you know you could do both!!" BEAM. A donation after a sale never hurt anyone and these didn't even cost that much. Surely he'd be able to afford at least one of the plants. The cheapest was being sold for only a few sickles. "Can I assume you'll be buying something??" He was right? Because she was totally charging for asking questions too once a purchase wasn't made afterwards.

It took away from time that could have been used selling to someone else. This was business.

Ooo and there was Jory!!! "HAI!!!" She gave him an enthusiastic wave before looking to Nigel again. Jory was good people. Yup.

SPOILER!!: Lex

Tag listened and nodded as Lex continued to talk her way into Tag buying one of the plants or perhaps even more. He chuckled as she started to say how they were handled with great care. It sounded rather rehearsed to Tag, but he wouldn't mention anything. "I'm sure Bently would be proud of you and those assisting her with these plants."

"That's a brilliant idea, yes it is Lex." Tag said joyfully as he pointed at her. With his thought and small contribution and Lex working in this stand he could probably help her out a bit. It seemed like they needed it a bit.

The little blonde looked at all the plants for quite some time before making a decision. Leaning down a little bit Tag read off the plant that had the paper Umbrella Flower written near it. He fished out from his back pocket his wallet and grabbed the money he needed.

"Errr, that Umbrella Flower plant. That's a nice one." He told Lex as he held out his hand with two galleons placed in it.

It was pleasing to see she'd managed to recruit some good sales assistants, all on time and enthusiastic. Brilliant! She'd offered her greetings complete with smiles and nods.

"They'll be returned to the school," she answered West's question. What else was there too do? They were still important learning tools after all.

Not only did she have an expert panel of sales assistants, but they'd somehow recruited an announcer/advertiser... she wasn't complaining. The Lions enthusiasm was very welcome. However, Nigel's queries confused her. Was the sign not simple enough? Pay for plants? Then the collection tin was just a bonus... at any rate, Lex had it under control.

Now... where were their customers?!

It wasn't as if he really needed anymore plants. Their place practically looked like a jungle and he couldn't put too many in his office at the Ministry or else risk confusing visitors into thinking they were in Environmental Protection instead of Accidents and Catastrophes. Good thing he had left some space on his desk and in the corner of the office...and on the coffee table in front of the fireplace... for some flora to be place.

Spotting his beautiful wife, she seemed even more so since she had become pregnant, he made his way over and resisted the urge to sneak up behind her and surprise her with a kiss on the cheek. She was on technically on the job now and he didn't want her strangling him like the vines a Snargaluff. So he instead nonchalantly stood in front of the price sign and pretended to give it a pensive look over.

Sapphira Puddifoot 06-15-2013 01:40 PM

Weekend. why did it have to come every week? Sapphira's mortal question to Merlin. Kids everywhere, making googly eyes in her shop, holding their candy sticky hands together, and grinning those toothy grins at her. And people asked why she was so against having a kid, she didn't have to! They were everywhere already.

The woman paused, a few steps away from the turn that took to her shop. A pleasant tent, with some really beautiful fanged geranium and umbrella flowers, that wasn't here before now sat on the side of the street. Sapphira read the signs and noticed the overly large woman (professor?) sitting on a chair with... a tin. Well that was a bit dramatic, wasn't it?

She approached the tent and gently touched one of the umbrella flowers dangling on the side. They were pretty... fresh, not completely open yet which made it even better. Merlin knew the backroom in her shop needed more colors, she didn't care much about the rest of the cafe, the kids would just pluck the flowers out and eat them or something.

... or not. Her eyes caught the honking daffodils with a small smile.

They had gotten their first sale! How cool! Jory decided to let Alexa handle Tag as she was the one who had been encouraging him to advertise the sale. Instead, he turned to the man who approached them next. "Good day, Sir!'' Jory greeted the man who was watching Professor Bentley. "How can we help you today?''

And just then someone else turned up too. Jory recognised her as one of the Shopkeepers here at Hogsmeade. "Hi, Ma'am!'' He waited patiently as she examined the umbrella flowers and then the Honking Daffodils. Hopefully, both she and the other man would find something they like?

Sophie Connolly had not been in Hogsmeade lately and thus headed down from London to traverse the familiar shops of her school days and maybe see if she could run into some friends of old. Spotting some students manning a stall Sophie curiously made her way over to discern what was going on. She had read the prophet and heard tidings from parents with students at Hogwarts but she doubted that it was as bad as everyone seemed to write it out to be.

Going closer to the vibrant array of colours which were flowers Sophie curiously inspected the selection of plants. What should she buy?

Venturing a glance at Seren as one of her students assisted him, he pretend-looked over the prices again and then turned his attention to the boy. Now, should he have a little fun with this? Answer was always yes. "I'm interested in buying one of your Viridiplantae," he replied. It was Herbology and it would be a shame not to test Seren's students a bit.

Seeing a potential customer, Sarah forced herself to smile harder. Of course she had been smiling already- she was alive after all. Also she was helping Hogwarts, which was another reason to smile. Also the flowers were pretty and the poster was cool.. and, there was so ,uch in life to smile about, if one just looked.

"Hellohellohello" she chirped, she was in a really good mood. Correction... a really really really good mood.*

"How can I help you? Would you like an umbrella flower? They are really pretty". Had Sarah not had negative experience with them once and been able to afford them she would of bought them herself.*

Trying to test the Herbology knowledge, eh? Jory did know that Viridiplantae meant green plants and included flowering plants and moss. Now, as they had no moss, he figured the man would be referring to the honking daffodil.

"Er, that would be 1 Galleon, then,'' Jory said with a smile and hoping very much that he was on the right track.

Nigel smiled along to what Lex was say. It was hard not to, with how hyper she usually was."Awesome. Then i will do both." Nigel walked over to the plants and looked at what was for sale. Nigel had some not to fond memories of fanged geraniums so he would not buy one of them. But the umbrella flower sounded pretty cool.

"I think i want to buy one of those umbrella flowers." Nigel said to Lex once he made his choice. Plus he would walk over to Bentley afterwards and donate a galleon or two. Donating never hurt anyone.

Knowing her boyfriend was helping out with the plant sale, she had to come and visit of course. After she made sure there were galleons in her pocket, she made her way over to everyone. She needed flowers to surprise her family back home for a little Christmas gift. She looked at all the plants and then at the price board. Hmmmm....

Jory was waiting for the man to tell him if he was wrong or whatever when he spotted brilliant red hair out of the corner of his eyes. Ronnie! He grinned, happy to see his girlfriend. He waved to her and held up a hand, indicating he would get to her in a moment. Or maybe another one of assistants would, which would be no problem. He would still be able to talk to her for just a bit but right now it would just be plain rude to walk away from his customer.

Eyebrows raised in amusement and delight, Seren watched as her perfect husband inspected their stall. He'd better by some. AND make a kind donation, or she'll be having words with him later on.

She couldn't help but stifle a giggle as he tested Jory. He was such a herbologist, she sometimes wondered why he bothered with all the Ministry business if he was more passionate about flora. Though, they did need to money...

Supervising the students was an easy task. The customers were all looked after thus far.

Honking daffodil? Oh sweet algae no. One of those would not do in his office. Since the boy had said one galleon and the only plant selling for such was the honking daffodil. He was pretty sure Seren had enough of those at Hogwarts and didn't need more at their place.

And just for the record, he meant Viridiplantae, as in the Latin for green plants and the over all spread of living organisms of the kingdom Plantae.

Raising her gaze to meet the eyes of one of the student's manning the stall Sophie beamed broadly smitten by the girl's apparent good mood. "Good day, I was hoping to buy some flowers. The money goes to helping Hogwarts, yes?" Her grandmother had always said that knowing where your money went was important in a world full of shady and sceptical organizations.

Taking up an umbrella flower plant from the stall Sophie inspected it asking. "What kind of maintenance does umbrella flowers require?" Hopefully nothing excessive that would work with her ever-changing work schedule at St Mungos.

This was great and beautiful, this was Jameson's very first trip to Hogsmeade, he hadn't had the opportunity to go to Hogwarts school when he was younger, due to money problems but he did have some friends back home that had gone to Hogwarts and he thought that if he wasn't able to go to the school itself then the would love to give the school all of his savings because he loved to help people in need and this wizarding school was in great need for some money and he wanted the students to have a great time here at Hogwarts and to be able to just enjoy the whole place like they used to.

Jamie walked into where he need to enter and looked around at his surroundings and just stood there not really knowing what to do or what to say because he didn't know anybody at all.Buying some flowery things were great too and he had some extra money to give away as well so yes to buy some flowery things and he could give it to his mother because she loved things like that!

Jory turned red. Great. He was trying to help out and this dude was making him look like an idiot. That too in front of Ronnie. "Sorry,'' he said not looking at anyone in particular, especially not his Professor. Just note, Professor Bentley was in no way at fault for his screwing up. She had probably thought the thing in class and he must have been daydreaming or something. He was a bad student.

So, Brugmansia. Jory did remember a few of their characteristics like their flowers hung down and their pods did not have defensive spines. "I take it you're talking about the Puffapod?'' he asked somewhat dully.
