It's a known fact that fire and paper isn’t a good combination. The library has therefore always featured a sparse number of torches on the walls to minimize the danger to the books. On test this year the torches have been replaced by enchanted firefly lamps. A good number of stained glass windows grace the walls at regular intervals where the room is connected to the outside wall of the castle to ensure that adequate light comes in. Stretching from floor to ceiling these windows depict famous witches and wizards from history, important historical events and beautifully detailed magical creatures or at least that is what you should see. The beautiful windows are now dirty and covered in spider webs, and droppings and goo from other school inhabitants. Hasn’t anyone done any cleaning since last year ended?
Come sit down and relax in one the cushioned window seats. Read a book under the warm gaze of a healer or the roaring growl of a dragon. According to legend work gets completed faster if you sit in Rowena Ravenclaw’s window so why not try if there is any truth to it? The glass in the windows can’t be broken by spells or physical force but please be mindful and respectful of the beautiful artwork. Remember to keep your voice down since many people come to the library to study or get a moment or two of quiet.

Ella was relieved to see that the library was open and free of charge. She wanted a quiet place to think and this seemed as good as any. Curling up under the large stained glass window depicting a dragon, the blonde pulled out her Care of Magical Creatures textbook and flipped through idly.

Derry walked through the library, her favourite place already and she'd hardly been here at all yet. She looked around, a couple of her favourite books tucked under her arm, and saw a beautiful stained glass window... of a dragon! Like Smaug!! And she had the Hobbit with her to read!
She walked over, but there was someone sat there already. Oh... Well... making friends, right. "Um... do you mind if I sit here?" she asked in a quiet voice, keeping her books clutched close to her chest. She just really wanted to read the Hobbit under Smaug...

The longer Ella sat quietly, the more tired she had become. The blonde let out a yawn, gently turning the page in her text book as she heard someone approaching. Her green eyes flickered upwards and spotted a girl she'd never met before. "I don't mind at all," She answered quietly, offering the girl a small smile before scooting over to make some room. She honestly wouldn't mind the company and perhaps having another person here would prevent the badger from falling asleep in the library.
"I'm Ella, by the way." She added offhandedly, glancing at the girl out of the corner of her eye. It was only polite to introduce herself, yeah?

Oh, thank goodness the girl didn't think she was some sort of creep. Not that anyone had ever actually thought that, but it was a constant thought in the back of her mind. "Thank you." she said, smiling softly and sitting down beside the girl. She took her shoes off, pulled her feet up and tucked them under her, placing her books on the floor in front of her and picking up her copy of the Hobbit. That her dad had written in the front of when he gave it to her on her birthday. My own little Merry, happy birthday, love daddy xx
It was her favourite book, and she opened it at the bookmark. "Derry." she replied, a shy smile on her lips. "Nice to meet you."

"No problem." Really, it wasn't. Ella smiled and continued skimming her book. She couldn't help but miss her Fire Crab, Taco, as she got to a passage on the breed. Did Max ever inquire about the fire crabs? She'd have to write him soon and see.
"Nice to meet you too, Derry." BEAM. And the sixteen year old continued to read quietly for a while until another yawn threatened to escape her. She placed her book down and cupped a hand over her mouth, trying not to disturb the girl next to her. It was then she spotted the book the red head had and Ella smiled a little. "The Hobbit, huh? Are you a fan?"

Derry was in Hobbiton still, she was re-reading the book from the beginning again, because she really loved it. She had to find something new and really cool to read soon, because she loved to discover new words to live in. But Bag End was enough for her right now, especially with the dwarves. She tried really hard not to, but she couldn't help humming Far Over the Misty Mountains very, very quietly...
She let up pretty quickly when Ella spoke though, because she'd done that thing again where she forgot that other people existed... She looked up from her book and kept her place with her thumb. Was she a fan? WAS SHE A FAN? She nodded enthusiastically and grinned. "The biggest." she said. "You like Tolkien?"

The quiet humming? Ella noticed and she glanced up at the girl, smiling a little bit. It was nice seeing people so into what they were reading. The blonde got like that herself sometimes so she completely understood.
And then enthusiastic nodding? It made Ella smile broadly at the girl. "That's cool." Really, it was. As for Ella, she nodded too. "Yeah, I do. My Dad is a big fan. He read the Hobbit to me when I was small and we both take turns reading it to my little brother now." Kind of a tradition. "We do that with a lot of books, actually. We're big readers." Though Caleb, Ella's little brother, much preferred comic books these days.

Cool? Derry had never really thought of herself as cool. Far from it, in fact, since she spent her life with her nose stuck in a book or quoting random movies and stories at people. Or humming theme tunes...
"My mam said that books were how she knew magic was real..." she said, blushing. "'Cause she's a muggle 'nd all... and before she met my dad she thought magic had to be real 'cause people could create all these stories from nothing..."

Derry seemed really nice. Very shy, but really really nice. The blonde smiled at her as she shared what her mom said about stories and magic. "She sounds great, y'know." Nodnod. "My parents are muggles so we didn't know anything about magic before I started making things happen." Yup, a discovery that had changed a lot of things for them all. "It's funny because when I was young I also gravitated towards the books where magical or fantastical things happen..." Grin. "And now I'm here and those things happen everyday."

Herjenmie flewww through the corridors, searching for the girl person he was delivering this letter to. His search led him here...and there she was!
He landed a bit erratically next to her but managed not to damage the package he carried in any way, which he released from his talons and set on the floor.
"Hoooo." Did he care that they were in a library? No, not really. Girl person needed to be aware of his presence if she wasn't already from his entrance and landing. Then he rose into the air again and swooped out of there.
SPOILER!!: Delivery!

Dear Ella,
Lewis and I just wanted to say congratulations on your captainship! He says he wishes he were back at Hogwarts playing Keeper again so he could be flying under your leadership, but he will just have to settle for watching you from the stands.
We are so proud of you! Be sure to keep us posted on how things go and we'll see you at the first match!

And then there was an owl...an owl in the library! Ella blinked and scooted over a little as it landed next to her rather ungracefully. "Hello there." She cooed, eyeing the owl curiously before turning her attention to the package on the floor by her feet. And before she could say more, the owl was off again and heading out of the room. "I...thank you!" She called before smiling sheepishly at Derry. Nope, she totally didn't just yell in the library >.<
Scooting off the window seat, the blonde settled on the floor and opened the package, grinning at what she found there. A letter from Kurumi and Lewis...and he wished he could play for her? ...Lewis? BLUSH. The blonde shook her head and continued looking through it, green eyes going wide at the broom servicing kit and the gummy worm cupcake. This was a brilliant package! Grin. Grin. Grin.
Though the library was not normally his favorite place, Ethan found himself spending a good part of the day there today. It had been too rainy to do much of anything outside so he figured he should crack a book before the pressure of NEWT studying got too great at the end of the year from putting it off. Plus he didn't really feel like being charged to enter the common room till later in the day when he would end up just staying in for the night. And so, here he was, getting in some extra studying for Arithmancy.. though he was starting to grow bored and his eyes were beginning to cross from staring at the numbers and calculations relating to curse breaking for so long.
Time for a break from Arithmancy.. Ethan closed his book and checked his watch. It was still an hour before he was going to meet Min for dinner and he didn't really have much else going on at the moment.. or really the time to do a whole lot before then. So he resigned himself to do a little more studying of a different subject.. or homework actually, now that he thought about it. He had some a Transfiguration assignment to work on.
Luckily, he had that little gargoyle in his messenger back so he pulled the little guy out to practice with him. Glancing first at his notes, he pulled out his wand and waved it over the gargoyle now sitting on the window seat with him. "Piertotum Locomotor!" The gargoyle lifted his head at attention. Good, the spell was working.. so far, so good. Now to practice on some tricks. "Walk," he commanded. Yes, that was simple.. but he felt the gargoyle hadn't had enough practice yet because he had been so stiff in class. The little statue began walking, much smoother this time. "Now.. somersault." Another one he needed practice with, having failed miserably in class. The gargoyle tried to tumble, falling over just as he did in the class room, this time falling off the seat and rolling onto the floor a little ways away. He walked over to retrieve it.. still needs more practice..

Minerva headed up to one of her very favorite places in the school. The stain glass windows were the perfect place to do homework. She had been here so much through the years, studying, talking with friends, hiding from people, even crying at times. So of course when she knew they had to do this vacuum homework she was going to go to her favorite place to make sure it was clean.
Not paying attention to anything going on around her she walked over to her favorite dragon glass and looked around. It was so dirty, she hated seeing all the dust. How was anyone suppose to study with all of the dirt.
Setting down the vacuum, Minerva pulled out her wand waving it over the vacuum, "Vacavus" The vacuum started and she quickly put the hose down and started sucking up the dirt. Moving around the spots as the vacuum continued to clean as much up as she could. When it stopped she pulled her wand again, "Vacavus"
Moving around the sitting areas getting up as much dust as she could she bent down to the floor and was getting the edge of a chair foot when she noticed a string get sucked into the vacuum, noticing that string was attached to something she looked and her look turned into a smile and a chuckle. Pulling at the vacuum as the string came back out she stood up. Smiling at the owner of the shoe lace, "Hey E..what are you doing here?" Just then the vacuum stopped, and she set it down. "Sorry about that.. I didn't see you sitting there. I guess I was in my own thoughts so much I wasn't paying attention." She smiled at her claw boy and then saw the gargoyle, "How's the practice coming?"

This had to be one of the strangest things yet, Alexa Cambridge sitting in the library and she was actually reading. But perhaps it wasn't all that strange if you took the time to consider the content of the book.
Today the subject of her fascination happened to be vampires, yesterday it was werewolves, the day before, banshees. There was no telling what tomorrow's would be but she was taking this reading thing a step at a time--and no she hadn't read books on any of those before mentioned, just pondered them was all. She was just extra bored today and figured she'd read a thing or two.
It didn't happen very often and it wouldn't happen again for quite a long time--unless something else caught her interest.
So there she was, sat by a cushion window seat, lost in the idiocy of a man who decided to live among vampires. Ah well, his stupidity made for a good read.

There was absolutely nothing to do. Ky had already explored most of the Hogwarts ground, poked around the Whomping Willow and such. Now there was nothing to do...
Ky remembered he still had to finish his homework. The Gryffindor Common room was always loud and noisy, and the only place with a quiet and peaceful environment was the library.
Reluctantly, Ky walked to the library, matting his messy hair. He found a nice area in the corner of the library and popped on to an empty armchair. As soon as he sat down, he didn't feel like working on his homework at all. Humming absentmindedly, Ky took out a mirror from his bag (he always have one of those with him...don't ask why) and examined his appearance in it. How hot can I get?
Bored.
Ky looked up from the mirror and noticed a familiar face next to him, reading a book. Hehe...that girl... "Heey...." Ky poked Lex on the shoulder. "What chu readin?" He knelt down next to Lex's chair, pretending to be drawn in by the book she was holding.

The footsteps she heard were ignored for the most part. She wasn't expecting to run into anyone in the library so there wasn't much need to be expecting anyone to talk to her. The footsteps were getting louder. This should have been taken as someone approaching her but seeing as she was having a rare moment she continued to ignore.
The voice though, the voice broke her concentration and the next thing she knew her shoulder was being poked.
Blink. Blink.
She tilted her head and stared over at Alien Boy who was now kneeling next to her. How curious. "A book about some guy who lived with Vampires, it's kinda interesting..." And she was still staring at the dude who was invading her bubble. HER bubble. Spaaaace.
She snapped the book shut and sat forward, giving him her full attention. "And what are you doing in here? I don't think they have many alien fictions books. I mean, you could ask the librarian but I seriously doubt it. Or maybe you came for something else."
And that got her thinking. Could Aliens read? Yet another curious thought.

Vampires. Girls nowadays are really into vampires...but what good are they? They're creepy to Ky...
Ky was quite startled when Lex suddenly closed her book. It was only inches from hitting his gorgeous nose. Chill out girl...
Alien fiction? ALIENS ARE REAL, PEOPLE. "I didn't know you liked reading..." said Ky. "First of all, what do you mean by alien fiction??" Ky furrowed his brows. Does this girl think that aliens doesn't exist? After all, she is looking at one right now, just in front of her...
"Second of all...I'm not here to read." Ky smirked and grabbed his mirror out again. He sat down on the soft carpet right next to Lex's chair, deciding to settle there for now while pampering his hair...

The startled look on his face didn't go unnoticed, nope, it was simply ignored. There was a difference. One was completely voluntary and completely her.
She made a face at his statement. "I don't like reading. It's not something I make a habit of doing unless the circumstances call for it. As it is, I prefer books on hexes, jinxes and curses...or most things dealing with DADA because they're interesting." Alexa didn't read. Not very often in fact it used to be not at all.
See? Improvement!
The boy asked an odd question. What she meant? "Huh...?" It was pretty straightforward if you asked her. "You said you're an alien, right?? So I figured you'd prefer to read a book on alien fiction as opposed to people fiction because then it would have something to do with your kind." Duh. Oh. Unless he was like her and didn't care what kind of fiction because he refused to read regardless.
Lex was ore inclined to believe so after his next statement. "Oh?" She gave him a curious look as she watched him and his hair. "Then what are you doing in here? This is the library, you know. Are you lost?"

Hexes, jinxes, and curses? Ky likes them too! *Nods*
"But then why are you reading a vampire book?" Ky grabbed the book from the girl's hands. He flipped the pages and scanned through the book. Raising his eyebrows, Ky handed the book back to the girl. "Ehh...werewolves are better..." If Ky didn't want to be an alien, he would want to be a werewolf. But he can't be a wizard and alien and werewolf, right?
One of his kind? Ky chuckled slightly at the girl's comment. "And read about other people's writing about my kind being green, ugly, and one-eyed? Heck no..." Ky would always get annoyed whenever he reads misleading stories about aliens. Honestly people, aliens aren't always green, ugly, and one-eyed. How can they looked at this face and say that it's ugly? O.O
Of course, Ky isn't lost..."I know where I am..." Ky licked his lips while admiring looking at his reflection in the mirror. "This is Earth, isn't it?"

EHHH?
Lex STARED over at the boy, mouth agape. Had he really just snatched the book from her? The book she'd bothered getting from the shelf herself?? How. Very. Ruuuuude. In fact, she was ignoring everything he said until the moment he gave it back. First he invaded her personal bubble, trying to read the book then this?? No. Just no.
"Like I was saying before you so rudely interrupted me, I figured it'd be interesting to read up on them for a bit, I'm not actually interesting in them. Geddit?" Did he get it? She didn't want to have to explain. That was a Ravenclaw's job.
She tucked the book safely on the side that was further from him before giving him a look. "I bet not all alien fiction books are like that. You could ask the librarian. Besides, the books aren't real or they'd be talking about people who look like you." See that right there? Logic. No need to get fussy over a book. This was why she didn't read. It led to no good. Just look how upset the thought had the boy. Pity.
Erm...was that a serious question. "Yeah...this is earth...and this is Hogwarts and this is the library but you're not here to read so what are you doing here?" That was her original question if she could remember right.

Hehe...amusing girl.
"Got it." Ky winked, seeing that the girl was a little annoyed at him. But no one can resist his innocence, right? "Well I'm pretty bored at the moment...if you're not interested in your book..." Ky noticed the girl hiding her book far from him. Silly girl... "Then talk to me...I'm bored..." Ky was whining and acting like a little kid, yet, it was still adorable...he thought.
What is she talking about?
Ky raised his eyebrows. "You're confusing me...are you saying that aliens aren't real?" Fiction? Not real? Aliens are so real. If one day, a real alien ever comes to Earth, Ky would go around all tell all those who didn't believe him and say 'See? An alien! This is my space friend...' Hem hem. Ky could get a bit carried with his alien obsession...
The fourth-year Lion shrugged. "I was here to do homework...and then I didn't feel like it." said Ky, resting his chin on his hands, modeling a bored expression. "it's a little bit too quiet here...not fun..."
Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite
SPOILER!!: Ky, LOL

No. Way.
He had something stuck in his eye too!!! Merlin! Just how many boys would get something stuck in their eye before they all started wearing protective goggles. Sigh. Clearly this winking was becoming a wide spread problem.
She was about to respond to him but then she paused to give it some extra thought. He was bored and expected her to drop what she was doing in favour of him? He was just lucky she didn't much like reading in the first place. Were it something she was passionate about he would have been on his own. "Alright, I'll talk to you? What am I talking to you about? Anything you had in mind while you continue interrupting me?" GRIN. That was actually meant in a nice way.
Lex raised an eyebrow at him. "How are you confused? Regular fiction books have people in them don't they? People are real so alien fiction books would just be about aliens, that's all." Really, nothing too hard to grasp and NO she wasn't explaining that anymore. It ended with that right there.
And now she was giggling, just a bit. "Well duh, this is the library, it's supposed to be the most quiet and boring place in this entire school. Did you expect to see some epic book fight when you got here?"Giggle.

Yeah...what are they going talk about? Ky was so bored he can say random things... "Anything..." said Ky, now drawing random shapes on the library carpet with his fingers. "Anything to keep me busy...I just don't feel like doing homework at the moment.."
Suddenly, a random thought came into his mind. Ky jumped up in excitement.
"Ooh! Ooh! I know! We can play a game." Even though Ky had played this classic, old-fashioned game many times, it was still the best thing to do when he was bored. To Ky, it was an interesting game. But other people might think it's a childish idea...
Huh? What? Why was this girl taking like a Ravenclaw? Ky was having trouble comprehending her explanation. "So you're saying...regular fictions are about real-ish people, while alien fictions are fake?" No...no one says aliens are fake. They are so REAL.
Epic book fight? Actually sounds pretty cool!
"Ooh...book fight!" Ky was unsure himself what made him think it was a cool idea. "How would that work? Would it just be like a food fight but we'd be throwing books around instead of food?" So what it that be like? Would Lex get mad if Ky threw a book at her? But that would be quite disrespectful to the books and the librarian would sure to get angry.
