The highly anticipated Quidditch seminar, led by all star athlete Colin Mackenzie, and well-advertised around the school, was supposed to be held today. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts and his tightly packed schedule, Mackenzie has been replaced by four of Hogwarts' more familiar speakers. All his posters have a big red CANCELED sign stamped over them, and the professors replacing Mackenzie --- Botros, James, Romanos, and Truebridge --- have a most serious expression on their faces as they stand in a line at the front of the spare room off the Great Hall.
Come in, have a seat on the floor (there are cushions around, don't complain), and get ready for an interesting.... lesson.

OuCH!
The fourth-year automatically drew her hand closer to her body when she was zapped, but that didn't do any good but it was a reflex. She frowned at the uncomfortable feeling. Or she couldn't frown at the feeling, she frowned at the buzzer.
How come Lex and a couple of others seemed to be enjoying the zap. Weird.
The next question didn't take much thinking. Actually, none of the previous questions took much time. And, yes, she would do stuff for the greater good. Like she was going to ignore her last name with an added 'n'. Miiiiight come in handy sometimes, a spare lastname. No one knew.
Still frowning at the buzzer, Cassia pressed down on the green button.

"Yeeeeeep! Tobias squealed to himself as he finally received a zap for his button pressing efforts. Ah. So that was what it felt like. Well... it certainly wasn't pleasant, but it least it wasn't like getting hit in the face with a quaffle.
As he shook his right hand so that it would forget what the zap felt like, Tobias listened to the next question.
Hm.
Well that was an easy one but it still felt like something they could be tricked with. But he'd ended up pressing the green one last time which went along with those kind of rules. So may as well go with his FIRST instinct. He should probably be answering with his first instinct anyway 'cause that would be how he reacted.
Which was probably not the point of the seminar.
Tobias went to press the green buzzer with his right hand again, but quickly swapped for his left hand over the same buzzer... if he was wrong he wanted his hands to have equal hand zappage.
Before he pressed it, Tobias looked up. He felt like he could give an explanation for this one. "Sometimes. But also the greater good shouldn't be used as an excuse."
And then he pressed down on the green buzzer, eyes shut tight.

Dylan smirked at everyone in his general vicinity. See? He DID know more than most of them. He'd say MOST...because he didn't know more than West Odessa. No one did....and yea...Just West. He was pretty sure he DID know more than the rest, though.
Not feeling another ZAP!, the Slytherin Captain waited for the next question...and flinched upon hearing it. 'Greater good'...Sounded like something he'd read in a text book about Gellert Grindelwald. They'd honestly thought they were working towards the greater good...
Hmm.
Interesting.
In any case, Dylan pressed the GREEN BUTTON.
Sometimes people were misguided...but he was just going to assume this was about paying for things this term. They had to pay to eat and get into their common rooms....and to watch Quidditch matches...Greater good of supporting their school.

Yeah.
Ella didn't like the phrasing of this question cause she'd read things and stuff where such phrasing had been used and it wasn't exactly on the up and up. She got it though, the sentiment. Sometimes you had to eat the veggies before you got the ice cream, so to speak. Ahem.
See? Even the professor's reply had to specify a certain situation. Not all situations. Not always. Which was what the statement had said. If it didn't have those absolutes one way or another, more people probably would have actually answered and answered 'correctly'.
And that zap wasn't too bad. Especially since it was only her first one so far.
Next statement though.
Hmm. Yeah, that one seemed right. Sometimes the things that were hard to do, that you didn't really want to do, were actually the right and good things to do. So Penelope simply pressed the green agreement button.
The green button made a DING! and glowed happily.

Nigel needed a break. So he decided to glare at Romanos for giving such an obvious question.

Folding her hands nicely in her lap she sat there nice and straight and listened for the next question.
Hmmm, that answer could be either! What if it was a bad thing? Would you still do it because it was for the sake of the greater good? Ew! Nope, she wasn't answering that question, for the simple fact auntie might get upset with her if she answered it saying she would even if it was bad!
She didn't understand the questions? Hmm. Botros gave her a long thoughtful look... the kid was strangely familiar to him. And not from class, he didn't remember her taking his class yet. HMMMM.

Eliza just gave a small shrug and smiled back at her teacher. She liked the woman and knew she probably didn't know how to tell the students to think and reason any better than the students knew how to do themselves anyway.
This next question was pretty easy too. She may not like it, and the question may have sounded like an excuse for some really poor behavior, but she knew there were situations where you had to really think of the big picture. Even if you wished you could take the big picture and break into thousands of small pieces to solve and fix perfectly on their own individual time - sometimes there just wasn't the option for that. So....she pressed the green button to agree.
Hallelujah! Someone with tough guts to actually press a button! The green button lit green with a pleasant DING!

Unfortunately she agreed and slammed her fist down on the GREEN but. Once. Just once. See?
Er...but maybe just one zap? She slammed her fist against the RED once. Again, only once...but then just once more....and another, nothing serious. She could stop any time she wanted to. This was no big deal. Press. Press.........PressPressPressPress. Ahem. She was done.

The next question. Yep, sacrifices and that stuff. Kat had been in one of those experiences before. It wasn't as enjoyable as she wanted it to be, but at least everything is okay now. The prefect then pressed the GREEN button. So far, no zaps? Awesome.

Giving Romanos a slightly concerned look (what with all the twitching), Botros leaned forward on his cane to speak, "I'm glad you all are aware that sometimes we have to give up our heart desires for a greater goal or purpose. And I remind you, dear students, that saying you agree with this is one thing, and actually being prepared to do so is another. It takes a lot of self-control and sense of responsibility." So.

Pity too because they bonded so well in that detention filled with hugs and ice-cream. Siiiigh.
Her aching hand scrambled for the RED buzzer and she slammed down on it. Press. Press. Press. Press. Press. Press. Press. Sorry Professor Romanos, that time, the extra buzzes were TOTALLY called for. She wasn't gonna offer an explanation, just in case word got back to the woman. Nope nope nope.

Another obvious green button question. Nigel did not even feel the need to press it again. Too Obvious since The Professors were giving the questions and the question was about them.
Nigel just rolled his eyes and did not press either.
Wonder how many more zaps Lex can take? She was taken more then him and that is saying something.

Ella considered this question for a good long while.
There were tons of professors that she knew had her best interest at heart. She trusted them and their judgement and she knew they'd want the students safe. Some, though, were a bit questionable. Seriously. Like Bond-dude. Yeah, she still thought he had the looks and swag of a super villain. He totally did.
The sixteen year old debated for a moment or two or seven and then decided to just hit the one she thought they wanted her to. Green. Professors should have their students best interest at heart. Just saying.
Tobias wasn't sure he really liked this activity. It obviously wasn't for fun.... being zapped wasn't all that awesome. And also he was torn between answering honestly and answering the way he felt they wanted him to (because they were asking for if they agreed, and Tobias would by lying if he just pressed the button he thought they wanted him to press... and as an honest Hufflepuff... well, that just didn't sit right with him).
Take this question. It seemed like they were SUPPOSED to press the green button, like with the one about the prefects and captains. But could it also be a lesson in not blindly putting your trust in people? Because that wasn't always safe. Mainly Tobias wanted to believe that this one was true, but he was also a big believer in not simply believing that statement just because they were professors. Anyone could be a bad guy.
Realising he'd been looking back and forth between the two buzzers for some time, Tobias shook his head and held out his left hand again. He felt so very guilty, and also felt bad for this option, 'cause all his professors had been nice and now it was like he was INSULTING them which worried him. He didn't mean these teachers, gah. Looking anxiously up at the professors, Tobias winced in anticipation as he slammed his left palm onto the red buzzer.

Clearly, this seminar for tricky questions. What was this? Were they expected to answer truthfully to that. So whoever answers no gets hauled to detention. Oh, Cassia saw through their plans. Pffffffft. Beginners. She wasn't fooled. So, of course she was going to answer like a good girl. Though she had doubts you know! Some professors were here to be paid. She actually didn't have any names but people weren't perfect. If Cassia was a professor she wouldn't be liking all students. Human nature. And no worries, she wasn't considering becoming a Professor anyway. Tiring career.
And now to the buzzer. She pressed down on the green button.

Vinteren, ohsoextremelygoodlooking or not, was totally fishy. Totally. And also, the Headmistress was out to get her. That lady was pure evil in redheaded diva form.

Her bright green eyes stared at Butros as though he was crazy. Seriously? She definitely was not going to respond to that because one if she did she'd get zapped and two if she agreed, that'd be a LIE, a complete and total LIE! At least auntie was there and now she finally realized auntie did have her best interests at heart. The other professors? That was debatable on a few of them!

Dylan........was smirking. A whole lot. That was happening. It was almost too much to contain, really. These questions. What....were they even?
He desperately wanted to snort at the whole thing...but figured that'd be massively frowned upon. Blast.
Anyway. For this next one...he was just going to go ahead and press the GREEN BUTTON...even if he doubted this was really the case for SOME of them...It was hard to know WHAT Professors thought most of the time.

Perhaps he should've tried the red buzzer first. ZAP! went the green button, turning a nice shade of RED. Although, DING! went the red button, turning an even nicer shade of GREEN.
...Confused yet?
Moving onto the next question! So she could twitch less.
"Sometimes we have to do things we don't want to do for the sake of the greater good."
Kace was so confused. He JUMPED when he got zapped and then he heard the Ding from his buzzer as well. He did not like the zap feeling that was for sure. But it was fun after the aftershock of what happened.
HUH????........*tilts head with a quizzical look*
He must have an defective buzzer or something....Then he heard the question the professor asked. He perked up his hears. He actually KNEW the answer to this one!
He pressed the GREEN button and knew this was the right answer. He knew he wasn't gonna get zapped for this one.
SPOILER!!: 7th question

Kace smiled at this one. He knew the professors wanted to make sure they were doing a great job watching after them. How could he pass this opportunity to say yes. Kace chuckled at this and knew all his professors had his best interests at heart.
He looked at his green button with glee. He pressed the GREEN button and knew this was the right answer. He totally agreed with this statement!

Laura looked at the buzzer, hmm this was a hard one, she wanted to say yes but in some ways she wasn't sure if some of the Professor would actually kill her if they got the chance and the Healer well lets just say she never wanted to be left alone in the same room as Healer Tillstorm, but she knew the answer to this one, she pressed her green button once and then waited for the next question.

Were the professors on the side of the students? Mo smoothed down his now-poofing hair (electiricity did that) as he considered it. Mostly, yes. Professors like Ab-Bot or his mother cared deeply. Some just thought of this as a job. Some liked the free housing and did it for the money.
But he wouldn't ever say that and potentially hurt Ab-Bot's feelings. Mo pressed green.
"Sometimes we have to do things we don't want to do for the sake of the greater good."
Mika rolled her eyes, she didn’t mean to she just did it on reflex. Mainly because that answer was obvious – because of course people sometimes did things for the greater good. She hadn’t told Kaiden things because she didn’t want to hurt him in the past…which ended up not being good but her intention at first was for the greater good.
Maybe that was a reason to press Red – her finger poised over the button momentarily and then she stopped. She didn’t know if she was going to be zapped or not, she didn’t really care either way if she was…but, Lexa had been zapped so many times and if she suddenly started convulsing and needed someone to carry her to a working flu she’d help.
She would so help get her friend to mungos if needed.
Yep.
Because she was her friend.
Taking her finger she decided to toggle between the buttons for a moment. Pausing over green, then red, then both, then green again…and PRESS. She slammed her hand down on the green button as hard as she could.
When the next question was asked she just sighed. Really? They were being asked if the teachers always have their best interest at heart…her mind immediately went to Professor Flamsteed. He ahd tried to talk them out of losing points for the explosions…darn Firth and she had liked him and his cattle.
Sure she might have just liked to stare at him…and wonder about the kilts – like how many he had. And things…she flushed suddenly as she sat forward and eyed the buzzers in her hand.
It was Botros asking…and Botros was nice – Botros also gave them a HUGE assignment for the year that she needed to finish…it was time to work on it. Not much time left to actually so she gulped.
Pressing her finger down on the green button she then quickly flicked the red one, and then the green again. So she was mainly neutral on this one.

She actually didn't have any names but people weren't perfect. If Cassia was a professor she wouldn't be liking all students. Human nature. And no worries, she wasn't considering becoming a Professor anyway. Tiring career.
And now to the buzzer. She pressed down on the green button.
DING! A wise decision! The button responded by lighting up under the girl's palm a lovely shade of emerald.

Eyeing you, Truebridge.
ZAPZAPZAPZAPZAPZAPZAPZAPZAPZAPZAPZAP!
Wrong, Captain Fischer. James stared at the girl, wondering how in the world a student leader didn't trust her own professors, before following her line of sight and... looking at her BFF!Bunz.
Oh.

Erm. Always? Jory supposed that was true. Well, he never had any problems with any of his teachers at Hogwarts nor before. He pressed his green buzzer.
DINGDING! Two correct answers and two bright flashes of green under the Hufflepuff's hand! Good work!

Anyway. For this next one...he was just going to go ahead and press the GREEN BUTTON...even if he doubted this was really the case for SOME of them...It was hard to know WHAT Professors thought most of the time.
DING! James gave a nod of approval to her Slytherin Captain as his buzzer lit up green. That made two out of the three Captains present who had good judgment.

He must have an defective buzzer or something....Then he heard the question the professor asked. He perked up his hears. He actually KNEW the answer to this one!
He pressed the GREEN button and knew this was the right answer. He knew he wasn't gonna get zapped for this one.
Dual flashes of green and an accompanying DINGDING! signaled this student's good choices!

DING! The buzzer flashed green, thanks to good logic skills!

But he wouldn't ever say that and potentially hurt Ab-Bot's feelings. Mo pressed green.
DING! How kind of you to spare your professor's feelings. The button lit up green in approval!

DING! DING-ZAP-DING! The buzzers in front of the Ravenclaw quickly flashed - the agreement buzzer quickly flashed green upon being pressed and the disagreement buzzer shone a menacing shade of crimson. Mostly correct.
"Of course we have your best interest and safety in mind!" James threw her arms in the air in astonishment that anyone managed to answer incorrectly. She settled her hands on her hips, a kind, encouraging smile settling on her face as she made eye contact with those who answered incorrectly. "We would never do anything to risk your safety. Really. Truly. I promise." Intentionally, at least.
One more. Probably. It would be painless. They could get through it. There was a light at the end of the tunnel.
As another one of those you know the right answer here, be good questions, James stated with a tone of finality, "I can help make Hogwarts a safe and happy home for everyone." Green button to agree, red button to disagree.

Ow. OW. Owwwww. Okay, this buzzing thing HAD to stop.
What? Was the point of this seminar to teach her to trust creepy, attractive History of magic professors with funny accents? Alice wasn't buying it, but she did catch the look James was giving her, so she pulled back her completely sore hand- surprising it wasn't smoking by now, huh? Or maybe it was and she just hadn't noticed- and thought about the next one. It was easy and didn't even require much of an opinion, so obviously she was going to get it right.
Still thinking about how Colin MacKenzie wouldn't have been ELECTROCUTING STUDENTS, she sulkily pressed down on the green buzzer.
THERE, professors. Finally, an answer from her they actually wanted. Hmph.

Nerida hadn't had time to press the buzzer on the last one. Which was fine with her she had some doubts about certain Professors...The new ones...Knox and Vinteren...Yeah they probably didn't have the kids best interests at hearts. Though the rest of the professors probably did, she could trust them. Yeap even Lafay who said to the class she didn't care for any of them. But now that, that question was gone she pressed down on the green button only once.

That last one had come up kind of quick, so Sky hadn't had the time to press a buzzer. Which was all well and good, because she wasn't buying that Knox had their best interests at heart. At all. The Headmistress either. And the jury was still out on Vinteren as well. The rest of the professors, though, she could believe had their best interests at heart (yes, even Lafay). But all that didn't matter now, as the next statement was made. She took the opportunity before answering to send a banishing spell at Alexa's buzzers, though. Seriously, everyone gets after the first one. You didn't keep pushing the buttons.
That done, she pressed the green button once.

Yeah, of course he could. But would he was another question, and Forrest wanted to save its answer to himself. He pressed the green button again and stiffled a yawn. It was very boring stuff.
