SPOILER!!: Dementors Alec! :3 Kace was about to talk to Alec when he saw the Dementors. He stood there wide eyed and gulped. "H-h-hey Alec? Do you see those things?" he asked and pointed with a shaking hand.He felt the cold chill in the air....he couldn't even think straight. He was scarred for the first time in his life, he felt fear. He felt like his happiness was going away. He didn't have his cute Kace charm anymore. He was in depressed mode. He didn't even know the spell for it. He was only a firstie after all. He couldn't even think of happy memories. He was thinking of ALL the bad experiences he had. He wanted it to stop. He didn't like these dementors at all...he wanted them to go away. He saw Professor Hadley battling them and he was somewhat relieved. Then he saw one coming closer to their table. EEP! He got out of his chair and ran for cover. |
What were her student leaders doing over here? Alice had left Daichi in charge of Glued-on-Goo- probably not the best decision in the world, but she supposed the Prefect was mature enough to handle it- to go check out why Bee and Dylan and Jake had all left their stations so abruptly. The Lex following her went unnoticed, too. Were they handing out more free food? Was this a thing? Because she could really go for another eyeball cupca- Sad. She felt it. Why was Alice all depressed all of a sudden? And cold and sad and freezing and sad and miserable and sad and.. dementors? Attacking Hadley? Was there a spell for that.. couldn't Dylan.. or Jake.. spell.. she wanted to help but.. no, she'd just ruin it. She couldn't. It was impossible to think positive thoughts. Why had she come over here again? |
Dementors.. Hadley.. Minerva saw them at Hadley still. She was shaking thinking of all the horrible thoughts. Missing her mother, missing her family. She couldn't think straight, but something was forcing her to want to scream again. She saw a shadowy figure move from Hadley and she couldn't hold back screaming and feeling helpless. Her worse possible feeling was disappointing and she was disappointing. Her little badgers needed her, her Head of house and mother figure needed her and she was just sitting in a ball screaming and whimpering. Finally finding her voice she clutched at her wand, "Get away from her.. Leave her alone." She screamed towards the creatures. Her mind not thinking clear enough to know that wouldn't do anything. "Professor Hadley, do something.. You can do this.. Please..." She was begging the professor to cast a patronus. She pointed her wand again closing her eyes and thinking of the happiest times, vacations with her parents, Ethan, her baby owl for her birthday, Ethan. "EXPECTO PATRONUM" She screamed loudly with determination. A silvery wisp of a beagle flew from the wand, but it wasn't going to be strong enough to push the dementors away, it wasn't even strong enough to really make it to the dementors, but she had to try something. She failed again and let out another scream as she saw them going closer to her Hadley. "LEAVE HER ALONE.. LEAVE HER ALONE" |
General mentions too Quote:
"I'm heeeere!! Did I miss the free candy????" Lex wasn't looking at any one thing for too long, just everyone standing around. She ran to Alice's side, calming down enough to finally realize everything that was going on around her. The Professor and Dementors!!! "COOOOOOOL!!!!" .... ....... But then...not that cool. Something felt off...it was a weird kinda feeling, like she wasn't excited anymore even though the cool creatures were floating right there. Huh. This...it didn't feel so good... Lex sighed and fished into her pocket for one of her chocolate frogs. Comfort food though she didn't know why she needed it. She was fine a minute ago. Without much oomph she bit the head off. Slowly, just very slowly she could feel herself getting better. This. Was. EPIC. She kept chewing and watching everything with wide eyed curiosity. Of course she wasn't scared. Mr. Vinteren and Professor Knox were standing right there. Did no one else notice? This would be fixed in no time. All they had to do was sit back and eat choooocolate. Nomnomnom. "Want some?" She offered another to Alice. There was no free candy but this was just as cooool. |
Glup. Why weren't they going away?! Sky scrambled to pick another happy memory from the rapidly departing pit of happies in her mind and cast again. "Expecto Patronum!" The boa constrictor was a bit brighter this time, but no where near the one she produced at the beginning of the year. Argh, it was so hopeless! No, can't think like that! And was it just her, or was the rattling of the remaining one getting louder....? Also, Dylan saying he couldn't think of anything. MEEP! |
Anya tried to think through her sad stupor. If Dylan couldn't... olay. She couldn't think like that. She was sure he'd be able to do one... But there was something else that should be done too. "Alice. Have you got your whistle?" She closed her eyes tightly for a few seconds and tightened her grip on Jake's arm. Were they getting... closer? "We've... cleareveryone... away." She prayed those were enough words to convey her message. She, however, wasn't leaving Jake's side. She'd be worried sick if they lost track of each other. And she knew he felt the same way. |
Dylan looked at Jake...meeting his eyes, STILL shaking slightly and frozen to the spot. His best mate's mouth was moving. He was saying things...but none of it registered with the Captain....All was still muted... ...and then there was a sharp pain in the Slytherin's arm. Jake had...hit him. he'd balled up his fist and hit him in the arm...and for whatever reason, all the sound in the world came roaring back to life. He was being screamed at to cast...He needed to...do that... ...but a happy thought? What happy thought? Dylan blinked several times, turning on the spot...Nothing happy was coming to him...There was so much bad lately...that he could literally think of nothing... Wheatborn was screaming... Alexa was screaming...about candy... "Expecto patronum...." ...His wand arm shook as he muttered the incantation...It was too weak...There wasn't even a show of mist. Sadness...Where was Beezus? He needed Beezus.... ...but the thought of her put things in motion... She had been a constant...He needed to focus on her. The first time they met, when she'd agreed to date him...the memorable trip to Paris....As the happier thoughts filled his mind, Dylan felt the shaking stop and his cheeks warming up. All he had to do was focus on Paris...On their time there together...Taking pictures together...Dylan photographing her. Her smile... That one photo he had of Bee... Breathing and focusing some, he whipped his wand up and went about the motions..."Expecto patronum!" ...He'd achieved a raven that time...but it was still weak... The Captain couldn't properly focus...There were too many people...Too much going on...but Professor Hadley... |

If Dylan or Jake couldn't cast a patronus, they could, right? "PROFESSORS." Could they hear her? Next steps.. use teamwork? How? Student leaders start fishing everyone out? Remain calm. Only use magic if necessary (it was clearly necessary here). Exits.. were everywhere. Okay. Safety steps down. Quote:
The fifth year gave her whistle a couple more sharp blows. "GET OUT. Dylan, keep trying." Please. Pleasepleaseplease, she was SO cold. |
When the commotion arose Finn had abandoned the game. He could feel the biting cold, the sadness everything going wrong and had ripped off his blindfold. ”Something’s wrong, you should take off the blindfold,” he told Emmaleigh as he looked around and saw nothing but fog. Making his way to the viewing area he blinked in shock as he saw Dementors. Dementors with their rattling breath and soul sucking abilities. ”Okay the girl with the whistles right everyone who isn’t a student leader, an Adult, or a Professor get back to the Castle immediately.” sure his thoughts initially went to his sister. And then it went to the chocolate he had stored in his bag. ”accio bag” he cast his hand into the air and caught the bag before it smacked him in the face. Reaching in he pulled out the chocolate, ”Hey Dylan is it?” he asked as it was what whistle girl had called him. ”Here, take the chocolate it might help” he offered kindly. "Expecto Patronum" he tried himself but not much came out mainly a feeble looking blob...obviously not a Labrador. |
dementors, hadley, and minnie mainly This wasn't good. It had been such a happy event too, one that Wade thoroughly enjoyed, and now this. Throughout this encounter, Wade himself seemed to question the increasing chill, he was use to it for so long that why was it now affecting him? Right. Those dementors. Increasing sad thoughts were filling him, making him quiet. Such thoughts included his mother's deadly disappearance, the little worries on his family that were far away from him increased. No.. Now he had to help out. Especially when his head of house's soul was at stake. Leaving his little area, he went right by one of his nearby friends to help out. SPOILER!!: Minnie "We can do this, together." Sure, with enough happiness, Wade might get to see his patronus take form. Doing his best to the dread filling his stomach, thinking of his first happy thought of getting his two dogs. "Expecto Patronum!"" Silver whisp came from his wand. But that wasn't going to stop him from trying again. |
Text Cut: The quidditch captain Manolo clutched a whimpering Awar against his side. He felt helpless. So helpless. He needed to protect his sister, but those memories of his father's passing, his mother's abandonment, Cara leaving him...they were coming back..He suddenly heard a high pitch noise. He looked around, but everything seemed like a black blur. Another noise and it triggered a memory of when he was getting on the Hogwarts Express his seventh year with Cara happily at his side, the train whistle blowing loudly. Whistle. It was a whistle making the noise. He blinked and saw what seemed to be a quidditch captain instructing to get out. "Come on, guys. We need to get away!" He tugged at Alec and Kace, picking up a stunned Awar. |

So Dylan couldn't do it. Jake knew he couldn't hold it against the guy... but it had been worth a shot. They'd have to rely on a professor now, maybe. Or one of the other older people around here. Because Alice was right. Anyone who wasn't a student leader or adult needed to get out of here. Jake flashed grateful look at Alice for the whistle and the shouting. He watched a few students that thankfully decided to listen. Letting go of Anya's hand, he wrapped his arm around her waist to hold her more protectively against his side. He couldn't perform a patronus, Anya couldn't, so she wasn't hindering him and he wasn't going to let her go off on her own. What could he do, then? He couldn't stand around and do nothing, he couldn't fight off a dementor... and he wasn't going to turn tail and run the other way. He wanted to help. So... he raised his voice slightly to speak to anyone that could hear him. While keeping an eye on the roaming dementor, making sure it hadn't fixated on a certain person yet. "If you can produce a complete Patronus, now would be a good time to do so. Everyone else, please leave. Get back up to the castle and stay there." He'd read enough on Dementors to know that they fed off energy... happy energy, but Jake was willing to bet that if there were enough panicking people here, it was helping the creatures more than it was hurting them. And anyway... less people threatened meant less people to worry about and more focus on taking care of the problem. |

She felt herself gasp as the black cloaked figures came into view. Dementors. Real dementors. The were nothing like that idiot who had dressed up as one while she was at school here. These were real, and they were making her cold, and making her sad. Making her feel unloved. Gripping her wand tightly, she knew what she had to do. She tried thinking of a happy memory, and "E-expecto Patronum." she stuttered and a silvery wisp escaped the end of her wand. The more the thought about the memory, the more depressed and sad she became. The red head stood there shaking as all the memories from the last year came back to her. |
Dylan as well.... Quote:
She heard someone being loud, people saying to head to the castle. She wasn't going anywhere. She was at school when her family went down in the plane, she couldn't do anything. Her thoughts were there in such a bad place. There was no way she was leaving Hadley.. NO.. she was her mama Hadley and she wasn't moving. Even if she was failing her horribly by not being able to get her patronus to work. No.. she would not leave and they couldn't make her. She was of age, she could do what she wanted. A voice by her side brought her from her thoughts and she looked up. Wade.. He thought she could do this, but.. parents, taken, torture, clowns, torture, bugs, fire, so much fire, hair burned off, so much sadness. How could she do it. She looked up at Wade and something snapped in her head. She scanned the place Dylan.. seventh year.. His patronus would be stronger, "Dylan.. Defense against the dark arts class... The laughter lesson.. Think of something funny, laugh..." If nothing else Minerva could think of academics. Her mind was circling with despair and lessons thinking about that lesson.. The sneezing fits, the accidental passing gas, the clap laughing. Lifting her hand to Wade she got to her feet. She coward close to him holding his arm and wishing Ethan was there. Thinking of Ethan she had to be strong. He would be strong.. She sang quietly "Softy kitty.. Warm Kitty.. Little Ball of Furr.. Sleepy Kitty.. Happy Kitty.. purr purr purr." She started to fake laugh softly she had to try.. It had to help.. At least if someone.. This is what they were taught in class, right??? Laugh..Dylan.. find your happy place.. She Laughed a bit louder trying her hardest to make it real enough to get through to anyone that could do a stronger patronus. |
Beezus....had been falling behind when they were nearing the Entrance. It was getting colder.....the kind of cold that feasted on your senses, leaving your thoughts haywire. In this case, it seemed as though all her sad thoughts had grouped themselves and marched front line inside her mind. She could even see flashes of dreadful images in the back of her eyes now.....it was making her head hurt, her breathing ragged. All her oh so pleasant thoughts from earlier were slipping away as if she was trying to keep water on her hands.... Sure, she had still had Penelope's hand when they were on the way but the closer they got, the weaker her grip on the young girl's hand become. The next thing she knew, she had lost Penelope when they reached the group.... "P-Penelope!" Where was she? Damn it.....Dylan was going to kill her. "Pen--" O__o Something was unto Professor Hadley. And it was no Oakey. It was....dark....and hooded....and ....GULP. She was shaking. She felt so miserable...and depressed. She wanted to cry and curl up and......Alice was blowing her whistle. For a second, that brought warmth back to her. She was being pathetic. She was a Student Leader.....and she had to get herself together. She had to help make sure everyone was safe. "Y-Yeah.....go...." Her voice was so lost. "G-Go back to the castle where it's safer!" Crap....where WAS Penelope?! If something happened to the girl, she wouldn't hear the end of it from Dylan......Dylan.....Dylan.....where was he............"Dy!" Beezus strode over to his side....Excuse me, Jake. .........Yeah, she couldn't quite cast a patronus yet. So...yeah...... Boyfriend, do something. |
No longer shunned from sounds, Dylan heard...another voice entering his immediate vicinity and looked around wildly. ALICE? Where had she come from? She was shouting at him to keep trying and...yea, he was going to...try to do that.. Man. This level of failure was embarrassing... Clearing his throat...he was about to cast yet again...when he was being offered chocolate? Blinking, Dylan arched a brow and looked for the sound...and noticed a dude...Oh, right. Chocolate...helped these things, didn't it? He accepted it gratefully and tore open the wrapper...taking a large bite. While he chewed on it...he went about collecting his thoughts...and drowning out EVERYTHING else. All the noise...All the bad...He'd dealt with this before...It was just stronger. Dylan...had successfully produced a patronus a handful of times. He COULD do this. He COULD...He just needed to...really focus. Focus on what was at stake here.... Lives. Alice's...Penelope's....Jake and Anya's....Everyone...and Professor Hadley.... He felt...heartbroken...for the Hufflepuffs. That was their Head of House...and she couldn't even defend herself. The dementor had too much of a grip on her already...Merlin, was that...wetness falling from his eyes...What...? Right....Beezus. Thinking about Beezus...Beezus and Quidditch...His Quidditch team...West and Theo...Their recent winning streak...The victory kisses he got from Bee...The way she had believed in him...The way his teammates depended on him...and knowing that they had a REAL shot at the Quidditch cup... The Cup... The Quidditch Cup for Slytherin... He thought about how happy his team was going to be...if and WHEN it happened. Their faces...and Bee was suddenly there...She was safe...The emotions filled him so completely that it was almost impossible NOT to cast the spell. He was NOT a novice to this...Dylan...could do it... "EXPECTO PATRONUM!!" The silver raven burst from his wand fierce and powerful...and he had to glance away...from the brightness... |
"EVACUATE." Like now. "Get AWAY from the dementors if you don't want your stupid souls devoured." Alice blew the whistle a couple million more times. Really, how thick were the skulls of these people? "You should be INSIDE THE CASTLE." She shot a grateful look at Jake and Beezus for helping. Now that he had the yelling down, did that mean she could stop and cry? Because she was near tears now. No one was leaving and the safety steps weren't working and WHERE were Knox and Vinteren and all the other professors? Romanos? And the dementors were becoming too much now.. even if Dylan's patronus was working. Alice was thinking about abandonment and being alone and.. fetal position was so close.. Her chin was wobbling now. Eyes welling up. Nobody saw, right? |

Anyways, kudos for Minnie for reminding him of another happy thought before the dread on seeing everyone around him affected by the dementors could take a greater toll on him. That ice cream party with his teammates.. you know, before some people got in trouble. Yeah, we were all together, eating gummy worms and pickles and ice cream while Minnie sang in the freezing morning. Ice cream was the good kind of cold, not this. Aiming his wand directly, he gave it another shot. "Expecto PATRONUM!" No, it wasn't quite Corporeal yet, but he could see the legs on that floating puff of smoke that flew and dissappeared.. Unlike that corporeal raven-shape from someone's patronus that floated right after. |
She was standing right next to Alice who'd declined her chocolate offer so of course she heard her say to evacuate...of course. Lex stuck another piece of her chocolate frog in her mouth and continued taking everything in with wide eyed curiosity. Dylan was trying the patronus thing, weren't they all? Surely this situation was already under control, yeah? Otherwise either Vinteren or Knox would have stepped forward. The way she saw it, all this whistle blowing, it was creating panic and mass hysteria. Pretty soon everyone would be running in circles and the Dementors would have easy pickings. She was NOT about to be some creatures next emotional meal. No thanks. She kept perfectly calm, steadily devouring the chocolate frog. Back at the seminar they had asked the question, when faced with a difficult situation do you run. EVERY COWARD IN THAT ROOM GOT ZAPPED! SHE WAS STAYING RIGHT HERE! At least...that was the smart thing to do, according to Professor Botros. Pffft, bet you all thought she wasn't paying attention during that safety thing, huh? And if no one wanted any of her chocolate then she wasn't gonna offer. They were clearly doing fine without it. |
Oh right, so as soon as Cat got close enough she could see what was going on. See it, hear it, feel it. She didn't like it one bit. Seriously, going back to Tuscany TOMORROW. No one had warned her how crazy Hogwarts was and dementors were on the top of her list of things to avoid. She stopped, still a bit away from the whole crowd but close enough to be able to feel things. Sad things. This was not fun at all. "This was a bad idea." Despite the growing sadness and such she definitely had that self preservation thing kicking in. There was shouting to go back to the castle and Alice saying things about stupid souls. She definitely didn't want her stupid soul sucked out. She was about to turn away but at that moment there was also a bright explosion of patronus and she sort of just stared. |
Everything - her surroundings, the students, the professors - was gradually falling away from Penelope's focus. All she could think about were things...awful things...awful memories...all the pain and negative emotions that went along with them...that pensieve...her boggart... ...it all seemed so hopeless with these thoughts filling her mind...she should just...give up... The feeling had almost completely overwhelmed her when something jolted through her consciousness. A whistle. The negative feelings were still there, but she was gradually able to tune back in to what was happening... She vaguely heard her name being called but didn't have the energy to do much of anything yet until there was a bright silvery sort of light just a few feet away, and it was the last thing needed to jolt her back to proper awareness, at least enough to somewhat suppress the depression threatening to overwhelm her still. And that was when she finally heard something clearly - Alice telling them all to leave. Sound advice, obviously, but Penelope was stubborn, and even more so now when she wasn't feeling all that great. "You need to evacuate too then!" she said, raising her voice to make sure she was heard by Alice and the other student leaders who were hanging around here. "I refuse to leave until you do." Just because they were leaders did not mean they were exempt from being safe along with them. The professors too ought to come with them, but they at least, Penelope could admit, had loads of experience that none of the students had, and so surely they could easily help Hadley. But Penelope didn't wanna leave anyone behind. |
His heart thudding in his chest, Ethan sprinted away from his assigned station in the direction of the seating area and where he was sure he had heard his girlfriend scream. He had a horrible sense of dread, feeling like there was danger.. a sense that only grew heavier as he approached. The sadness in the air was almost palpable and through the large crowd that gathered he could see there was actually a dementor. A dementor at Hogwarts. Ethan's widened eyes fixed on the creature as he neared, his trembling hand still gripping his wand. He tore his eyes away from it to glance around at the faces.. several of the student leaders were here already.. and Minerva. Thank Merlin, she was alright. He slipped into the spot next to her, giving her an apprehensive sort of look, then turned back to try to assess the scene. He knew how to cast a patronus, had even sent one to Bentley, but to cast one against an actual dementor? He wasn't so sure he could do that. Charms had never been his strong suit and the oppressive sense of hopelessness weighed on him too heavily.. how was he to think of anything happy enough now? Ethan stood a bit feebly, just staring at the thing. If all the other leaders weren't able to drive it away with a patronus, what good would he do? He felt like doing nothing more than curling up into a little ball, then he heard a soft voice singing next to him. He gave her a little smile, he loved to hear her sing. Maybe he could find something somewhere in the recesses of his mind that were happy enough.. though all that was coming to mind were horrifying screams.. fire.. insects crawling in ice cream. He closed his eyes, focusing on nothing but the singing voice next to him. She was his world.. their first date.. his muggle challenge.. skiing in the Alps.. that lecture.. He almost managed a chuckle at the last thought and knew that was his best chance. He pointed his wand at the dementor and opened his mouth.. but heard the voice of the Slytherin captain and saw his very bright patronus first. He was a bit awestruck for a moment.. but kept his wand pointed. That would be enough to drive it away, yeah? And then everyone could get inside to safety. If not, he'd try to cast his as well.. |
General Chaos..... everyone ;) Yeah, listening to the prefect not Captain Bitey over there. Sorry. Think happy thoughts. Happy thoughts....... hold on was someone singing? And fake laughing? Okay, that just make Sky crack up. Which, oddly enough, helped some of the effects of the dementors go away. "Expecto Patronum!" The boa was stronger, brighter this time. Awesome! Now, if Knox and Vinteren would snap out of whatever little trance they were in. Because now that there were patronuses (patroni?) were around adding light to the place, she could tell that it was Professor Hadley that the horrible creatures were attacking. AGH!!!!!! But she did have one other thing to say. "ALEXA CAMBRIDGE, GET YOUR REAR BACK TO THE CASTLE!!!!" Seriously, she knew the girl was a Gryffindor but jeeezz. |
Finn was glad that the kid – whatever his name was had accepted the chocolate. Few, the kid’s Patronus had worked. Now to get his own to work, and a glance at a certain Redhead. “Hey Emm, do you mind unsticking my sister from that guy?” He indicated to his sister and her friend who well, didn’t look lke they could run off when they were standing with their leg connected magically. Finn was nearly blinded by this Dylan kid’s Patronus. He gave him a curt nod, almost a ‘thanks for saving lives’ nod. Because he had, clearly. Finn glanced around again and eyed all the students who were still standing around. ”Everyone listen to your student Leaders and go – now,” he yelled his voice booming a bit. He did notice the sad look that the girl who had yelled Evacuate had said and took another bar of chocolate from his bag. Tossing it over to her he called out ”Give this to the people who need it “ when he turned back he thought about the time he met his niece – his family, his really extended family. He thought about hearing about India’s job – Mika getting onto the quidditch team – as reserve, but still. ”Expecto Patronum” he called out and the silvery lab bound from his wand. The bright light piercing the darkness around them. |
