Laura ate a bit more of her ice-cream before she replied to the Librarians questions. "I am going to try my best to behave from now on, though I might make mistakes, it learning from them, something I haven't done before now." Laura sighed, she was really annoyed with herself.

Laura then listened to what the Professor said and sighed, he had got it on the head with that one. "Yes sir, I'm scared I will fail my exams and it would be entirely my fault." Laura really didn't like this feeling. "Sir do you think if I study really hard that I will be able to get any owls at all." Laura really didn't want to get 0 owls, she would be so embarrassed she wouldn't want to come back.

Eating a big spoonful of ice cream Leo listened as Laura foretold her plans for the year. "I'm glad that you've finally come to the realization that you need to learn from the mistakes you make in order to grow and mature into a responsible young woman." He commented softly.

"Playing a few pranks hasn’t been the problem it’s when you add those to all the other crazy stuff you have pulled over the years till now that you make everyone worried Laura. Actions have consequences regardless if you are 11 or 33 years old." He emphasized the last sentence with a raised spoon.

Leo could see that reality was setting in and that Laura as it seemed didn’t very much like how she had acted in the past. He felt for her but that was the only way he knew how you could change. You faced the truth and then you took steps to better yourself.

Nodding he encouraged. "Anything is possible. If you put time and energy into studying for the exams I think you can achieve the owls you want. Got any strong subjects or subjects you like more than the others?"

Laura looked at the Librarian. "I know that." Laura sighed before eating a couple more spoonfuls of her ice-cream, she sat still thinking about what the Librarian said before continuing. "I know sir, some of the stuff I pulled I can't believe, I'm surprised that I haven't been in serious trouble before now." Laura blushed as she thought about the things she had done.

Laura listened to the Librarian. "I'm good at History of Magic and Muggle Studies, I love both them lessons." Laura really thought she might be able to do good about this, but she wasn't sure about it. "Sir, do you think if I really try and improve by studying hard I might have a chance of a few decent owls?" Laura was hoping so but wasn't sure, though she would study as hard as she could.

Leo munched on his ice cream as Laura spoke. The badger girl's comments made Leo want to roll his eyes at her but he didn't. Instead he sighed inaudibly before asking with a raised brow. "You don’t think serving detention equals being in serious trouble?" Seriously, was she so blasé that she didn't connect the dots between reckless pranks and severe consequences?

Shaking his head he repeated. "Anything is possible Laura if you put your mind to it and study hard, I'm positive that you can achieve some decent owls but I can't promise it." Leo didn't grade the owls so he didn’t know if the ministry officials paid any mind to general behaviour outside the classroom but he doubted it.

"It might be a good idea to talk to Professors Cerulean and Vinteren to see if you can get some help with what you should review for the owls." Leo suggested.

Laura looked at the Librarian and sighed, "I didn't mean it like that sir, I meant I'm surprised I haven't been in big trouble with the Head and had a worse punishment that I got." Laura was a bit surprised but she would do her best to put things right.

Laura looked at the Librarian and smiled. "I'm going to do my best sir, and I think you might be right and that would be a good idea." Laura ate a bit more ice-cream, she was loving the ice-cream. "I'm glad I chatted to you sir, it's made me realise a few things."

Was Laura speaking about Josephina or Annie?

Leo ate another piece of ice cream as he responded. "You have to remember Laura that everyone has your best interest at heart and especially Professor Hadley. She wants you to learn from your mistakes. Do you think worse punishments than the detentions you have served would have helped you to see the error of your ways?" Mr Kitridge highly doubted it. Such insight was something that you had to discover by yourself.

Beaming at Laura he responded. "I'm glad. That is what I’m here for remember to give guidance where possible aside from being knowledgeable about books."

Laura looked at the Librarian and smiled. "I know that they do now sir." Laura sighed. "I'm sorry for being misjudging you." Laura really was sorry that she had misjudged him, but that day she spent with him made her open her eyes. "I realised in the summer that everyone cares about my safety and that is why when I misbehave they have to show me the errors of my way." Laura was glad she had talk to the Librarian.

Laura smiled at the Librarian. "Your one of the best adults in the world sir." Laura hoped that the Librarian would never go away whilst she was at Hogwarts because he was just awesome.

Jory was passing the Library on his way to his Common Room when he decided he would go see Mr. Kitridge. The last time he came in contact with the man had been at the book club meeting but he had seen him during the many days spent studying in the library.

The badger raised his hand to the door and knocked. Knock, knock!
