A large number of floor-to-ceiling books fill up the library, creating aisles upon aisles of books available for students to read and browse. To make finding books for all years a little easier Mr Kitridge has divided the bookshelves into sections like romance, suspense, crime, history, plants and fungi etc. To return books just walk up to the appropriate shelf and hold up the book. The gripping charm in place on the shelves will take a hold of the book. When you feel a tug on the book let go and the book will fly up and find its right place amongst the other books on the shelves. When retrieving a book please use the sliding ladders or if you feel confident with your magic you can use a simple accio charm to retrieve the book you want. Oddly enough many shelves are gaping empty of books, is Mr Kitridge behind in his duties and is that a layer of dust on the books?
In front of each aisle there is small set of desks which students can use to complete homework, copy notes, take book references or chat. Keep your voices down and be mindful of falling books and other students accessing books around you. Happy reading and learning!
She was fighting herself an awful lot lately, she knew she should tell her friend about what happened, and why she was really late, but she couldn't bring herself admitting that it was true. So instead she nodded and smiled her best fake smile when Sonea asked if she had been okay. "Good, I'm glad I didn't keep you waiting, no i don't need anything, Ready to start looking?" The blonde nodded towards the shelves, and then realized just how many books their would be to look through "Do you think that maybe we should just ask the librarian? She would know whether or not we could even find some cookbooks" Because of quidditch she really wouldn't have time to spend days looking through all the books in the Hogwarts library.
With a book in her hand she just turned around when she saw how Mack smiled at her and something bothered Sonea. She KNEW that she smiled a fake smile, and how did she knew that? Sonea knew this because she herself always used the same fake smile when somebody asked her if everything was okay. She herself had always problems at home, mum and dad were always fighting with each other lately and now she knew that her mum would divorce from her dad! But, the point was… Sonea knew everything about fake smiles, but she also knew that a person would almost always lie about it when somebody would ask more questions, so Sonea didn’t asked more questions. She herself would also lie if Mack would ask her about her home situation and the problems between her parents, the bad relation she had with her mother and that she almost never saw her mother!
Sonea smiled a real smile at Mack and placed the book she had in her hands back on the shelve and nodded. “I think that it is indeed a good idea to just ask it, there are so much books here, I have really no idea where we could start with searching…” Sonea looked around her and saw ALL the books , it were more than thousand books!
You have bewitched me body and soul, And I love- I love- I love you

It thrilled Mack that Sonea agreed to just ask, it would take months to find a book in here, unless you knew exactly what you wanted. Her smile slowly morphed from a fake smile to a real smile. "Great, Let's go to the front desk!" The blonde sighed, she had dodged yet another person from finding anything out, it really was exhausting but she would at least figure out who to tell, the headmistress or the head of house, before she told another student. Though she knew she couldn't keep it from Alice forever, she would have to tell her captain, it would only be fair to the entire team.
Standing in the middle of the library the second year old smiled and took a deep breath. Old books were smelling nice and she liked to read. But… She wasn’t here to just stand still, she had come here with a task! She wasn’t here for her homework, even though she could learn something. She wanted to find a book with spells she could use, she was searching for one spell in particular and she was sure that she could find a book here where she could find a way to suse the spell.
She walked slowly and searched maybe ten minutes before she had found her book she needed. With the book under her arm she walked to a table where she could sit and read the book and where she could make some notes. But before she sat down and opened her book, she looked suspicious around her, careful because she didn’t wanted that anybody saw what she was doing, or more important, what she was reading.
She searched in the register and found on which page she needed to look.
With a sneaky smirk she wrote all the information on a piece of parchment, folded the parchment, stopped it inside her bag and she closed her book. She placed the book back on the bookshelf and left the library, she was done with the first part of her plan…

“Okay! Let’s go then!” Smiled Sonea and grinned while she thought about all the delicious food they could cook for themselves if they had a cooking book. “Oh, I want to make Pizza, soup, but no ice-cream, that’s too cold and… Oh, I like it to make some Chinese food!”
The second year old clapped in her hands and grinned. “Come, where are you waiting for, let’s go!” The young girl quickened her pace while she walked to the desk from the librarian.
Realizing that doing research is much easier when you have the proper information, Asher headed to the shelves. He needed a book on simple cleaning potions. Asher scanned the shelves and his eyes fell on a potions book that had a bright red cover and white lettering. "That's perfect!" he whispered to himself. "It has 1001 cleaning poitons."
Whoever this person was, all Lottie knew was that they were a Hufflepuff person. And rather unimportant, unlike Cedric Diggory who appeared in history books and whatnot.
There were still other important people, to Lottie anyway.
But, the Library was a place on the list, and she was going from top to bottom, right? So...she made a stop here, wrote a few things on her parchment and took out her wand. Noooow...let's see.
The Library was big, so, this may take a bit of time.
"Spiritum Revelio!" counter-clockwise circle, point through circle. You know, the usual wand movement. Aaaaand nothing around these bookshelves. Oookay. Lottie kept going for a few more rows, and did the same each and every time. However, she decided to point in a different direction now...like, more to the study area than the bookshelves...and...*mellow*...well, there was a green outline there...and she didn't like it.
Not to mention that she couldn't know for sure if this was from the Hufflepuff or someone else, but she still wrote this down and took off.
A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.
Too bad he was going to the library right now and that ice cream, or any food in particular was forbidden inside these rooms. Or else the Slytherin would have been eating one right at this moment. Mweh he REALLY wanted some ice cream!
He turned after he entered the library and went straight to the bookshelves. According to the list in his hand someone had died over here. Someone called Avis. Who that person was he had no idea...he didn't even know if it had been a male or female!
Taking out his wand, Daichi pointed it at the ground and made a counter-clockwise circle. "Spiritum Revelio" a point through the circle and ...nothing. The Slytherin sighed and walked to another Bookshelf section.
"Spiritum Revelio!" he said as he did the same wand movements and gasped when he saw a small line somewhere a little further in front of him glowing green. Trying the spell for the third time though this time he pointed it at that place and an outline of a person was glowing bright green.
Writing down his finding in his notebook, Daichi walked away.

Nessie was nearby, yeah? Ella did a quick scan for the older girl before pulling out her wand and doing a little investigating. She had her History of Magic notes with her just in case they'd be helpful but mostly she was just randomly walking along the shelves, eyeing spots on the floor curiously. Someone died in her but it was sort of hard to narrow down the exact locating seeing how the library wasn't exactly tiny.
Stopping randomly, the blonde pointed her wand and did the counter-clockwise motion before pointing through the circle. "Spiritum Revelio!"
...Nothing.
"Pssst, Nessie. Find anything?" Where was the red head, anyway?

Avis? Um...yeah she never remembered learning about someone with that name, but she was more than convinced that on the Professor's list that was who was written to have died here. Unless she had the names confused. She sure hoped not, but then she could check later. Now it was more important her and Ella found the actual locations.
How someone died in a library was also quiet a mystery...but then anything happened in this school and come to think of it didn't Hermione Granger once almost die in this room? Maybe. Heh. History, that was long in the past.
Walking a little slower, Nessie hadn't realised how far behind Ella she really was, but from a meter or so away she watched Ella perform the spell. Nothing. Heh. These places were not easy to search for deaths.
Maybe a book shelf fell over this Avis person? Ness looked around for the closest shelf and performed the spell. "Spiritum Revelio!" she counter-clockwised her wand in a circle than poked through it.
Nooope, nothing for her either. Pout. "You go again?"

Ella had walked over to Ness and watched as she performed the spell near the bookshelf. That was actually good thinking considering maybe a shelf had fallen on top of this person or something. Unfortunately, it seemed they weren't in the right spot again. Sigh.
"Yeah, I'll go." Ella wandered down another row of books, eyeing the ground curiously. Maybe just maybe..."Spiritum Revelio!" She'd done the familiar movement and said the correct incantation so hopefully...Frown. "Nothing here. Maybe down the next one?" And on she went.
...
"Spiritum Revelio!" ...Oh! Oh! Oh! Oh! "Here, Nessie!" And she pointed to where she was seeing the glow. Found it.

Nerida looked around the bookshelves maybe something interesting would come up, books about history, books about other stuff. Nope nothing interesting over here in this bookshelf. She moved onto the next one picking up a few books, and each time skimmed its contents before placing it back where she had found it.
Maybe the library didn't have anything that she wanted to read. Maybe it would have examples of the golden ratio in here though. She did remember Professor Hadley saying that the golden ratio might be able to be seen either on a book design or in the book size . She continued to look until finding a sea one. A Starfish in the back was a shell. She knew that the shell was an example of the golden ratio but was a starfish.
She closed her eyes trying to remember back to the lesson and all the questions the other students were asking, nodding to herself as she remembered the few that asked about the animals, yes a starfish did. Another example down!

Minerva had to return some books and she wanted to check a few more out. She had been enjoying some of the books Professor Schirmer had donated. Thankful that she had done that, which reminded her she had to owl her again soon. Now she was in the books for healing. She wanted to pull another one of those out. She found them to be so interesting.
As she scanned the books reading each title, she wasn't sure what to take. Maybe she should just take all of them, but she had so much homework and other things going on. Just a few would work for now, plus she was headed to look up some charm books. Still trying to study those as well.
Pulling out a books she thought of something and made her way to the Arithmancy section. Maybe she could find a book that explained the Golden Ratio better. Scanning the titles she pulled one out and opened it. Yes it looked like it was in here. That should help hopefully. She did want to know it better. Closing the book she looked at the cover and chuckled. Why not use the book about Golden Ratio for the golden ratio. Minerva pulled her shoulder bag open and pulled out the parchment. Jotting it down she placed it back in her bag. Now to figure out which books she was getting.

Rectangles were representative of the golden ratio, yeah? Well at least some of them where the ratio of the length to width matched up correctly. The blonde tapped her chin as she wandered along the bookshelves, keeping that in mind. She had her handy dandy ruler with her for measurement purposes and all. Y'know, for the checking that she was on the right track and such.
She'd pulled out several books already and checked, though their ratios weren't exactly working out the way she'd hoped. She kept getting things like 2:1 and that wasn't at all what she was looking for. Sigh. Ella continued on, though. Not one to give up easily.
...
And after searching for a while longer, Ella finally found a book that she thought might work. Pleaseeeeeee let it work. She still had more hunting to do, y'know.
After some quick measurements and figuring, the blonde BEAMED. She had been right, this text book on potions was definitely an object showing the golden ratio!
Scribble. Scribble. Scribble.
SPOILER!!: Arithmancy Notes

After doing some research, I wanted to see whether or not books, which are often rectangular in shape, would be examples of the golden ratio. It turns out that not all of them are. Sometimes the length and width just don't work out the way they're supposed to. There are some that work, though! Like I found a potions textbook which was really, really close to perfect measurement-wise. I think that's pretty good indication that the golden ratio exists in lots of books.
I guess maybe it's important here because if books are pleasing to the eye, more people will want to read them? Maybe this was some kind of scheme a long time ago used by adults to get kids more interested in their studies. Like, for those kids who didn't like to read. I wouldn't need convincing since I think all books are cool, no matter what they look like. Anyways, I guess the way the books look is a way of making them more desirable. Plus their measurements have to be just so in order for people to store them and carry them around. Mhm.

Hadn't Hadley said something about the ratio possibly being present in books, too? Alice wanted to check, so she went to the library after the pond. Length and width could possibly be proportional, yeah? It said so in the notes she took from that class, but it also wasn't definite, according to her other parchment, so testing it was. She found a book and another one that seemed to be roughly the same in size, then measured them.
The ratio was.. 3:1? That was not phi. Frowning a little, she got another book and tried it again. This one's ratio was 1.5:1 which was somewhat closer, and Alice got tired of finding books.
Text Cut: Parchment
I went to the library next to find books and test out the theory of all books being proportional in length and width. There were some that were really off and totally different looking that had ratios like 3:1, but the last one I checked was 1.5:1, too. I think if I kept looking hard enough, I'd find one with phi as the ratio, because it's bound to be in the library somewhere.
She wasn't looking anymore, there was other work to do.

Garrick had not been into the library in a while seeing as he had been busy... with doing nothing. Heh. He quite liked it sometimes. Not often, though. Dropping his bag on a nearby table he made his way over to the shelves and began running his fingers over the spines of the books. He was looking for one about the Patronus Charm... or something more to the side of Defensive Magic would be alright. Mhm.

Did he make a habit of not noticing her while at the library, though? GRANTED, he probably didn't actually see her this time, because she'd just turned around this particular bookshelf and...there he was.
He actually looked lovely while looking for books. So, Lottie may have stared a bit longer before making herself known. With the widest smile she could muster, the girl simply stood next to him, her back to the bookshelf. "Need any help, Garrick Morpheus?" She wouldn't be of much help, would she? What with NOT facing the bookshelf and all.
Well. Yeah it seemed like he was getting into the habit of not noticing her in the library didn't it? Heh. Not purposefully though. Never that. He kind of felt like someone was standing there watching him, but it was a public type of place, so he didn't think too much of it...
And then she was there. Right beside him, her face in his line of sight. A soft smile touched his lips and without speaking he leaned over and kissed her cheek softly. Letting one hand fall from the shelf he patted the small of her back playfully... only he really needed her to move, really. Heh. "Looking for more information on Patronus Charms. I want to see what I can do to better prepare myself to conjure it when I get a bit older." She could help. "I know the incantation and the basic idea of the spell and all that, but I wonder if there is anything I can do to make sure I get it right"

The smile on her face went from the widest one to the sweetest one after he'd kissed her cheek. And then an eyebrow was raised. Seriously? He seriously needed her to move? Nice to know she was no distraction. At all.
Ooooh, the Patronus Charm? Okay, fine, she'll move, only enough for him to keep looking for books. Though, he probably missed the most important one by that corner. The big one about Defense. "The Head Boy's patronus is a moose." That was probably the only patronus she actually KNEW of. Honestly, though, that was the only one. "I do wonder what mine will be...," and Lex's. HA. That'd be amusing.
Yes, everyone who's read about Defense Against the Dark Arts knows the incantation at least. Wand movement and basics, too. But..., "Make happy memories." That was the only advice for those seeking to perform that charm brilliantly.

Of course she was a distraction. That's why he needed her to move so he wouldn't get distracted. DUH. Giving her a little wink he grabbed her hand and pulled her close to his side as he let his eyes scan the spines.
And no he had NOT missed the big book that was on Defense... he was hoping for a specialized book. Ha.
He didn't really care what the Head Boy's Patronus was... he didn't even KNOW the HB, but Lotus was cute when she said things. So she got smiles. "My mum's is a swan." And his Dad's was a kangaroo. But he didn't talk much about his dad, so he kept that to himself. Mhm. "I know it's to do with happy memories, but I want to know anything specific I can find about perhaps getting into that headspace. Like... meditation techniques, or exercises of some sort to help me tap into the happiest of happy memories and focus solely on those." See. There was more to him than a pretty face, Lotus. Geez.

Distraction or not (she was still doubting she was one, but didn't care much about it), Lottie still giggled a bit at the wink, and definitely rested her head on his arm as he went on with the books. Apparently, books were far more interesting, that's cool.
Ravenclaws.
A swan? "That's pretty." It was. The Slytherin Prefect liked ducks, though, not that it was relevant. It just occurred to her that she knew tiny facts that didn't actually matter, and could probably be helpful for...making conversation. She needed to go back to reading and stop getting in detention with Lex. "My aunt's is a hawk." Cool, eh? Lottie didn't know if she should've shared that information considering her aunts occupation, but...who's listening to 14 year olds? Exactly. Leobald, the librarian.
Lottie probably wanted a cool creature as a patronus, more than a pretty one. But she had no idea.
A very soft laugh left her lips. "You're looking in the wrong side of the library." Relaxation techniques? Yoga was one, and whatever Romanos was teaching them. "You should ask Professor Romanos." Lottie knew...not so much about relaxation techniques nor where to find information on the matter. She could still help.
Ravenclaw on a mission, woman! But the head on his shoulder DID distract him momentarily. He ran his fingers through her hair briefly and smiled down at her. She was cute, she was!
Birds. Who thought they were pretty? Girls, that's who. Garrick just beamed at her and nodded his head. "Pretty wicked." The hawk and all that. Although, a falcon would have been even cooler. For reals. "I hope my corporeal patronus is something pretty awesome. My luck, I'll get stuck with a goat or something." That would make him sadface, though.
No. Just... no. "Yoga is ridiculous. I want to know what Defense specialists say are the best techniques. Not... bending your legs behind your head and heavy breathing. I don't think that helps us with Defensive magic at all. It's just a way to waste time in class." Opinions, Garrick had them. "I don't KNOW that the books will say anything that I can use to better prepare myself... but I want to know what... AHA!" He plucked a sizable tome from the shelf and grunted at the weight. SHEESH!
"Defensive Magic Through the Ages: and all your preparational needs!" BINGO!

You are...totally forgiven, Garrick Morpheus, and you can keep on looking at books for as long as you want. Yup. Because she actually liked that, him running his fingers through her hair. That was nice. And for some reason made her more aware of her surroundings and...
...she simply removed her head from his arm the moment he started to look for the books again.
The hawk was pretty wicked. Lottie smiled back, and laughed softly, "Maybe it'll be awesome," who knew, right? As long as hers was SILVER and didn't turn out to be some yellow mist, then she was fine. And a cool creature. Definitely a cool one. But did it matter what she wanted? Apparently not, according to the Sorting Hat. Oh, hey! "A goat." Heh. Wait! "I read of someone with a goat as a patronus...," she couldn't recall the name, "...wasn't it, Albus Dumbledore brother?" The one who helped Harry Potter? That one.
Laughter. Yes, Lottie laugh at the yoga rant. He was right, though. "You know, she's not really teaching us to defend ourselves...," she started to say, suddenly interested by the books, "...I didn't attend the last lesson, so I don't know what I missed." Probably some fantastic dueling.
Asher pulled out his Sextant again and looked towards Polaris. He was trying really hard to see what he was supposed to see, but wasn't sure if what he was seeing was right. "OK, I have the initial angel and I need to see where it lands."
What he was saying didn't even make sense to him. However, he needed to get the assignment done, so he kept on going.
He wrote down all the information on his parchment, making sure to double check his work. After he finished with his notes, Asher packed up his things and headed off to his next location.

Laughter. Yes, Lottie laugh at the yoga rant. He was right, though. "You know, she's not really teaching us to defend ourselves...," she started to say, suddenly interested by the books, "...I didn't attend the last lesson, so I don't know what I missed." Probably some fantastic dueling.
Yeah, sure, she skips lessons once in a while.
Oh? He found it, then? Good. ^^
She was cute. Mhm. She knew he thought she was, too, so he didn't say it aloud. He just looked at her sweetly and went back to studying the tome in his hands. Perhaps he could get some helpful information from the poorly titled book. Hmmmm.
Yes, maybe it WOULD be awesome. Like... he hoped his was like... a sabertooth tiger or something. Nah. That wasn't HIM, though. Perhaps a Pergrin Falcon? HMMM. "Yes, Aberforth Dumbledore. Apparently he had some fixation on goats. For whatever reason..." Sounded awfully sketchy to him. And yes, Garrick knew his history pretty well. Even if he was not keen on the current HoM Professor.
"She isn't teaching us defense at all if you ask me. What the bloody hell does stretching and laughing have to do with anything?" Except for the boggart thing, but still. Every lesson had yoga? For what intent and purpose? HMPH. "I haven't attend one since we learnt about Boggarts. She's a joke as a professor if you ask me." Bunz should really evaluate the professors on her staff. Indeed she should.
"Do you want to get out of here? Go do something fun?" he asked as he placed the book back on the shelf. Yeah he had looked SO hard for it, but Lottie was there.. and well they could go have fun instead, right? Heh.

Sometime during her trip to her next destination, a stray cloud decided to float across the sky. Making it hard to spot Polaris again. Sky would've done spell to banish the cloud, except that she didn't know how to do that. So, she just had to wait for the thing to just mosey right on by. Which took about ten minutes. But once the cloud was gone, she was able to spot Polaris rather quickly. Yay!
