Hecate Lafay had brought her cauldron to the great hall. She charmed the door-frame so that every cauldron brought into the room by her students would be decorated in party colors and glitter. The ones containing Chocolate Base would have the words "Decadent Fudge" on them, the ones with Caramel, would have "Creamy Caramel" on them, the ones with a caramel base had "Smooth Butterscotch" on them, and the marshmallow bases, like her own, would sport the words "Gooey Marshmallow".
Not only was there syrup, but all sorts of toppings, fruit, and nuts, and sprinkles, and miniature candies, and cookies, and crumbled candybars and crumbed cake... even pickles! Anything your heart desired on an ice cream.
Hecate enhanced her voice so it was heard throughout the school by students and professors alike. "Enjoy a bowl of Hogwarts Ice Cream with our flavor enhancing syrups here in the great hall." She said and charmed the ladles to ladle out the syrups on their own.
ooc: Everyone eating the syrups: This is the antidote to the GleeIceCream. Even if you weren't under the effects of the ice cream, this syrup will not hurt you and is safe to eat. However it has a smaaaaall side effect... a feeling of loss and sadness, like something's missing from life now that you aren't elated all the time.

And this one. Stealing her shoes while she was defenceless. What the hell was wrong with the man? Erik lashed out without thinking, forgetting the wand in his right hand, and forcefully smashed Airey Flamsteed in the face with his fist. "Ivy, up, you have to get up. You need to get out ov here." Erik slid her back from the stupid Astronomer's grasp and tilted her upright, his strong arms wrapping around her so that she didn't fall. As for the others...patronuses were whirling everywhere around them, but he saw that his hippogriff band had faded by now.
Right, time to end this thing. "Direct your patronuses together," Erik shouted, wriggling his wand arm free of Ivy so he could point with it. "We haff to work together! On three...ONE...TWO....THREE..."
Expecto Patronum! He finished the spell non-verbally and watched as another band of hippogriffs -even more than last time- exploded from his wand. There. Good.
There was way too much happening around her that Ivy couldn't focus on. She was just cold and sad and cold. And sad. But she was still thankful that Erik was there. Suddenly, she was being helped/forced into an upright position. It took her a moment or so to realize her legs still worked. Except... how did she only have one shoe? And why did Erik punch the Astronomy professor? She was still a little out of it.
Ivy still clung onto Erik as he yelled at the others to direct their patronuses together. Even if she had the mental or emotional strength to produce a patronus (something she had never been good at), Ivy had no idea where her wand had landed. And she was unstable, ready to burst into a million pieces.
So she ran away from Erik and the other professors, hobbling out of the hall with one shoe, trying to hold herself together until she reached her office.

Oh good, Callie had heard her.
Though she was moving closer, when she should've been moving away. Out of the dementor infested great hall because firth was down, it was cold, it was depressing, and the world was ending! And Airey just got punched in the face!! OH MY! What...
Covering her mouth in shock, she DID hear Vinteren's request for all of them to aim their patronuses together. And Callie's request for her to try again. "I..." No, she couldn't. Though seeing the divination professor try had her snap out of the fear a little. She could try again. Tugging Laura a little bit to stand behind the two of them, she raised her wand towards the dementors. Happy memories. Happy. Semi-happy. Close enough.
"EXPECTO PATRONUM!" Sad memories. All the sadness. There was nothing. Still. Just like how she felt now.

Laura was feeling really upset, they were all going to die and it was going to be in this room, how had the Dementors got in that was what she wanted to know, she hoped that things would get better soon, she didn't like the looks of the Professor on the floor and a few others.
Laura suddenly saw the Healer but well that didn't really matter at the minute, she wanted to help and she was going to try and help, she knew how to do a Patronus and she was going to do one right here, it was a good thing she had been practicing all year and her dad had taught her how to concentrate at Christmas, she wanted to do everything she could.
Laura thought of the happiest moment of her life so far, she thought about it and then she concentrated on it, "EXPECTO PATRONUM!" Laura looked at her wand and signed nothing was happening, she thought about all her happy thought at once trying to outway the bad thought. "EXPECTO PATRONUM!" Laura was happy when her Butterfly Patronus went towards the dementors, she then went back to clinging to Professor Romanos.
Leaving the groundskeeper's body to the Librarian, Botros had turned his attention to the rest of the hall feeling the anger that somehow made his walking-staff glow even brighter. He clutched his wand tightly and swiveled it over his head before pointing it along with his runic Gandr at the cloaked dark figures and non-verbally felt the incantation take up what was left of his energy, 'Expecto Patronum!' A massive silvery eagle erupted from his wand breaking into many smaller eagles soaring around the hall and merging with the other patronuses, going after the misery in this hall.

Oh thank Merlin. The girl didn't get attacked by dementors and she was getting up on her feet.
Trying not to loose concentration on her patronus she looked over at Ethan. "Get her out of here now! I'll come looking for you two when I can." Meaning once the demetors were gone and everyone was taken care of.
As Ethan took Minerva out of the room she stood back up just in time to hear Vinteran shouting about working together. Yes, teamwork, that's what they needed here. Concentrating even more on WaylonWilliam happy thoughts, Cece pointed her wand towards the dementors as she watched her silvery armadillo grow in size.
There would be NO deaths tonight only a soul sucked groundskeeper.

Next thing the astronomer knew he was seeing stars. Quite litereally.
Still in a bit of a groggy haze from the memories the dementors were bringing to the surface, Airey's eyes crossed and eventually refocused just in time to see Erik walking towards Ivy. His mouth felt numb, save for a strange pulsing sensation that brought his hand to his lips where he felt something...wet? His eyes momentarily crossed again and then uncrossed only to see that his fingertips were stained with blood.
His eyes widened and darted to the floor where he saw two white.... "Teef! Zos are my teef!" he exclaimed as he bent down to pick them up.
Patronuses were going every which direction and he was just standing there, with Ivy's shoe in one hand and his two front teeth in the other, being completely worthless. Worthless Aireyhead with nothing but air between his ears.
With no other choice but to trust that his colleagues would be able to defeat the dementors - because he wasn't going to be able to do anything - Airey shoved his teeth into his pants' pocket and made his way towards the door where he passed Miss Hyde and Medea. "Come on, let's get you both out of her," he said solemnly as he put an arm around Medea's shoulder and helped lead her and a hand (the one with the shoe in it) on the young Hufflepuff's back and began to lead them out.
Worthless Aireyhead....

Erin had directed her attention away from the dementors and her patronus long enough to get a good look at everyone around her - the professors who were helping, those who seemed unable to conjure up any happy thoughts, and... Vinteren as his fist collided right with the Astronomy professor's face.
HOW WAS THAT HELPING THE SITUATION RIGHT NOW?
As if she wasn't already angry, that shady History of Magic nut had just decked a colleague and, by the looks of it, knocked out a few teeth. Erin's patronus faded away at this point and she almost stormed over to the man in rage, but... there was a time and a place, and his instructions about working together were probably true. The dementors seemed all too keen on draining the soul from the Headmistress and... there was no way James was going to let that happen. Annie was too good for that.
On the madman's mark, James recast her patronus, "EXPECTO PATRONUM!" sending her mass of a bear surging after the cloaked figures once more, trying to direct them up and away from Annie.
She couldn't lose her childhood best friend. Not like this.

They may have had one soul, but they were still hungry and needed to take the RIGHT soul this time.

Managing to barely dodge a patronus sent towards them by the divination professor, they were caught up in a frenzy as one silvery creature after another had them being pushed back and dispersing upwards away from their dessert.
RATTLE RATTLE RATTLE RATTLE!
Zig zagging around each other in a tight circle above the tables, they dived back downwards in a sudden. Not yet ready to leave.
EEEEEEEEEEEP they were still after her! WHYYYY did this alwaaaaays happen to herrrrrr? Annie could have started sobbing again had she not seen more of her staff coming into the room, sending more patronuses to help her out. *sniffle* Even the Evil Healer was trying to help out. And... and was that a mama bear patronus? BFF Erin was here?!?
Annie swallowed a hunk of phlegm and wiped her nose on her sleeve. "Back!" She shouted at the dementors, brandishing her wand and her nundu at them. "Go awaaaaaay! Nobody likes you here!" Ugh seriously and they were all nasty and rotting too. Things needed a bath and a makeover ASAP.

They were working together now? Hmmph! About time somebody came to her rescue! The redhead gave the Board member/History professor a curt nod and listened for his countdown. Three - two - one --- GO NUNDU GO! "EXPECTO PATRONUM!" she shouted in time with Callie, Romanos, ....was that Laura Hyde?!?!, Botros, Tillstorm, and Erin again. Let's hope all those patronuses WORKED this time...

Laura might have been able to do one Patronus, but she wasn't sure she could do another because she was feeling really sad, she was now clinging to Romanos and to the Astronomy Professor because well she was down, she had managed to clear her mind for a couple of minute because her dad had taught her how and she was scared Professor Romanos and Minnie was going to get hurt and Laura had to do something to stop that but now she was scared and afraid.
Laura looked at Romanos and sighed, seriously she should save her by doing an awesome Patronus, her was only small and it had taken a lot of strength for her to do the last one. "Professor Romanos, are we escaping?" Laura clung to the DADA Professor.

Wand already out and aimed forward, Peyton scurried to the general vicinity of the other professors. She had no idea where her ice cream had gone. She sort of thought she'd lost it on the floor of the Great Hall somewhere between dementors and Expecto Patronum.
Nevermind that.
She finally came to a halt, wand still aimed forward, and gave an almighty, "Expecto Patronum!" She watched the silver unicorn prance forward, still trying to be dainty, as it went in for the attack.
Their rattling becoming more excited with each passing moment as they got closer and closer. They were not expecting the combined force of all the mature patronuses, however, and they were pushed back quite suddenly. Becoming overpowered by the sheer force of all the patronuses, the dementors retreated to find salvation elsewhere.
Scabby fingers twitched, unveiling from under their dark cloaks again as their rattled breaths became louder. They were so close, they could taste it. It being her soul. However, the force of the mature patronuses had them scattering back. They were able to suck up one of the silvery lights, a butterfly, before they were too overpowered by the group of them. In the next moment, they disappeared with their companions.
The dementors were... leaving? Gone for good? One could only hope. As soon as they disappeared from sight, James pocketed her wand, rushed full-speed to Annie, and pulled her into a big ol' bear hug. No words. Just... one of those hugs that said everything. She hadn't hugged her like this since they won their last Quidditch championship game. But it wasn't every day one witnessed a BFF almost become dementor food.
After a few long moments, Erin released Annie from the silent hug and spoke in a hoarse whisper, "Are you okay?" She peered deep into the Headmistress's eyes, searching for... some kind of sign that Annie would be okay. Surely the woman had just seen her life pass before her eyes and she probably wasn't so okay. But... Erin tried to meet the woman's gaze with such an expression that reassured her that she was okay and safe and everything would be all right.
Firth was still on the ground? What? She'd have to be reminded. Annie's current mental state was more important than a soulless groundskeeper.

Annie was practically holding her breath, well under the impression that if she just didn't open her mouth ever again the dementors would never be able to suck her soul out, when.... lo and behold... the patronus party worked. IT WORKED! "WE WON!!!!!!!!!" she felt like shouting, and then realized a moment later that she had actually shouted that out loud, she had, they'd won, the dementors were gooooone!

And then Erin was there and bear hugs were happening and Annie was crying again but this time, it was tears of relief, not tears of hopelessness and sadness. "Eriiiiiiiiiiin!" she sniffle!squeaked into her old friend's shoulder. Yes, yes she was all right. She nodded a bunch of times in succession and then took a wobbly step backward, having seen something horrific over her friend's shoulder.
Why... um .... why was Firth lying on the floor? Had he passed out from sugar overload? What what what what ... the redhead gripped the quidditch official's robes tightly and gave them a small shake. WHAT IS HE DOING THERE WHAT HOW WHY DID HE FALL OVER PLEASE JUST SAY HE'S OKAY, she seemed to say with her wide and terrified blue eyes.

Laura looked up and saw that the Dementors were leaving but she didn't care about that, she continued to cling to the DADA Professor and hope that she would be alright, the Dementors had sucked up her Patronus as if it wasn't there, though it had been a weak attempt because she had been really sad and obviously she hadn't cleared her mind enough.
Laura just clung to Professor Romanos, her eyes shut tight. "We made it right?" Laura had one eye closed in case the dementors were still around, she didn't want to let go off Romanos for the next week or soo.
Laura still clinging to Romanos, saw the Headmistress. "Are you okay?" Laura looked at the Headmistress, she was hoping she was because herself well she would cling to Romanos for as long as she could and then if she got shooed away from her, she would go cling to the headmistress.
Botros let his cane carry half of his weight right after the dementors were gone, he even swayed just a bit and wiped his forehead. The runes on his cane faded away gradually, he looked around and saw only the Groundskeeper still on the floor. The headmistress seemed to be alright, what with declaring their victory and all. He walked back to Firth, passing by the Quidditch official and Ethan's wife mhmm he calls her that sometimes in his head. "Ms. Tillstorm should have a final look at him." He informed them quietly, and refrained from using the term 'his body'. "We need to move him upstairs. Glad you're alright--" dear. She was literally the age of one of his sons. "--Headmistress."
They should clean this hall. And... were was the Charms professor? Was she alright? Botros glanced around the hall to see if there was any other lying... bodies.
Where was Airey going and why was he bleeding!? And why was he taking Medea with him? What was wrong with their patronuses? Of course Callie wanted her friends to be safe but she also wanted them close to her so she knew what was happening.
But the dementors were pressing in on them and her Arctic fox patronus was finally joined by eagles, a nundu, a giant bear, and...was that an armadillo? Watching in awe, the silvery shapes quickly overpowered the black figures and they began to move back until finally the swooped away, leaving just a memory of their icy presence.
Callie dropped her wand arm and breathed deeply. They had won. Now she wanted to see Medea and Airey. The Headmistress was crying but okay with Erin tending to her. She looked around at the others, they seemed to be okay, even the student that was left behind. Nearby the Divination Professor could see Botros looking worn out and a tad unsteady. He really shouldn't have pushed himself so much. The blonde hurried over to him and placed her hand on his shoulder. "Abraham, are you okay? Maybe you should sit down?"
But before he could answer his words brought the site of Alistaire lying on the ground back to the forefront of her mind. Move him upstairs?
"Is he going to be alright?" She looked at the others nervously as tears began to well up in her eyes. She hadn't ever heard of someone being kissed by a dementor being alright but there was such thing as hope.

Oh? Even fifth year Laura Hyde could create a patronus and NOT HER?????? She stared at the Puff. STARED.
Well, now she felt utterly worse. USELESS. She couldn't even protect... snapping out of it when she felt an arm upon her shoulders, she blinked at the Astronomy professor. Her eyes were starting to sting from those tears that weren't going to happen. Not here at least. She'd almost let Airey lead her out too, but suddenly shaking her head, she turned and gripped his jacket. "Vait, Airey...vait..."
She couldn't LEAVE! Callie was still in here!
Although, Laura's question seemed to have perfect timing. Medea only was able to give a hesitant nod before she saw the dementors vanish. And to hear the Headmistress's shout of victory. They were gone. THEY WERE GONE!! Good Merlin, she could've slumped right then from all the feelings, but she still had a Hufflepuff clinging to her.
"Oh, thank Merlin..." she sighed, hugging Airey and half hugging Laura. Awkward group hug.
Good, it worked. The dementors had taken the cue to leave. Finally.

Erik crossed to the groundskeeper's body in a few steps and bent down to check for a pulse. He was still alive then, that was....something. "I agree," he replied to the Ancient Runes professor quietly. "And vhen he should be checked into St. Mungo's as vell." For a permanent residence.
An unfortunate ending for the man but you wouldn't know it from Erik's emotionless tone.
