Post #6 Text Cut: Ethan! Had he scared the dude? Hopefully not. That was the last thing he wanted to do in this case. But the guy was grinning so... "Yeah, you're right!" he said, looking down at the potion, "Even if we'd have to start from the beginning again." Which wouldn't be fun. At all. "You have? So... do you think this is right?" Nodnod. Leeches. Close to last. "So we don't end up adding in too much and then... make the potion runny again," Because no one wanted to be applying that to their skin, yeah? "I think this can work, you know." GRIN. And they'd have to take a note of all of this too, yeah? "Yeah, I do," he said, looking between the Ravenclaw and the chocolate frog in the older boy's hand, "Two's better than none so..." Even if he had plenty of time to master the art of non-verbal spells. And he shouldn't be worrying about that because... it wasn't as if they were going to come up in the OWLs, yeah? "Yeah? They sound really hard to do," Really really hard. So well done Ethan! This was weird because he was almost sure that he had just been approaching Ethan and asking him whether they can work together moments before and yet... here they were. They had a plan and a potion that was well under way. "Sounds awesome!" he said, nodding, "And if they are a horrible colour, maybe we can wave our wands at the end?" Except... weren't they already meant to be doing that? And drops! "Oh me?" He could do this, right? "Yeah, sure! Adding the pus in drops doesn't sound hard..." GRIN. ... Oops. He had forgotten to stir it, hadn't he? The boy reached up and ruffled his hair. Luckily Ethan was here or who knows what Alec would have ended up doing. "Oh yeah! Thanks!" He held up the nettle in the mortar in his hands and watched as Ethan added in the daisy roots and the mandrake leaves into the potion as well. "It doesn't matter if it's clockwise or anti-clockwise, right?" OH IT WAS HIS TURN! Okay... time to shine! Alec tipped the mortar onto its side and emptied out the nettle into the potion using the pestle. Once the nettle was emptied out, he tapped the pestle on the side of the cauldron a couple of times before placing the mortar and pestle down. There. Now important part... he took a hold of the crystal rod and gave the cauldron a clockwise stir. ... Bubotuber pus next... yeah? The Hufflepuff took a hold of the vial and held it up above the potion just as Ethan asked a question. ... Oh? "We can chop it up and add in the whole thing?" he said, adding in a drop of bubotuber pus and giving the cauldron a clockwise stir, "Because we have some pretty stinky ingredients here." Eyes for you, bubotuber pus. Which... another drop was being added and Alec gave the cauldron another clockwise stir. ... As for Ethan's next question... "What about... something to do with Inflammation? Or Deflammation?" Was that even a word? Drop... stir... drop... stir... "Deflammation Draught? Or... something with ointment? What do you think?" Drop... stir... DONE. "Five drops is enough, yeah? And I think it's time for the leeches?" Text Cut: Journal! |

Theo thought not just in case it turned out to be a deadly mixture of something. He sat up and peered over the top of the cauldron again. Oooh, greeny-yellow. "It looks done to me." But he would let West have the final say because he was useless. "I wonder what would happen if we stirred it the other way." Theo never would have guessed that it would make any difference but sometimes it did. Quote:

Still smoking! But the bubbling settled down, so there was that. "Well the direction effects how you want the potion to change. If you do clockwise, it helps encourage a positive sort of change, if you alternate its good for physical transformations, and counter-clockwise stirring sometimes encourages a 'negative' change, but also helps with brewing any 'undoing' potions, like antidotes or potions that are used mostly to fix or negate symptoms or effects that the intended taker is presenting." Hmmm. With that thought in mind, West changed the direction he was stirring it in, anti-clockwise for a bit, then he stopped stirring, pulling the stick out. "We're done. One of us has to drink it." Paaaause, "The other has to be able to save the drinkers life if something happens." West eyed Theo. Pretty sure he was WAY more capable of lifesaving than Theodore. Quote:

He nodded, "Awesome. I'll remember that." He probably wouldn't. Theo eyed him right back. "Don't look at me, what if I die?" He peered over at the cauldron, then looked back at West with a hard SIGH. But could he really revive West if he died? All Theo could manage would be sending a jet of water in his face. "Fine, but only a bit, and you owe me." He sighed again and grabbed one of those scooper spoon things, and a cup in the other hand. He tipped a tiny bit of the potion into his cup and eyed it curiously. Ew, ew, ewwwwww. "I dunno if I can..." JUST DO IT. "Okay." Theo took a small sip, but let it sit in his mouth for a few moments. It tasted gross, which made him eventually swallow. Nothing happened, apart from a funny feeling on the end of his chin. Maybe it was HEALING that zit that he had on there for a few days now. Theo touched it, but it was still there. Darn it. "Well? Did anything happen?" Unbeknown to Theo, his zit turned bright green. |

"I would never let you DIE." For reals. That was just unfathomable. a West without a Theo was like bangers without the mash. Just not quite as awesome. And West didn't agree to the 'you owe me' thing. Nah. Nahhhh he totally didn't. He practically handed Theo a Dora on a silver platter didn't he? So really Theo was the one that owed West forever and always. ... 'cepting that West didn't at all mind doing stuff like that because that was just what bros did for bros. West waaaaaaaaaaaaaatched..... and then eyed Theo's chin. Well. That was weird. "How do you feel?" Also, "And what does it taste like?" |
Post 6 Nigel was at the point were if something did not happen to his potion once he add the last bundle of knotgrass. Then he would give up on his potion. But he still had faith it will something. What, Nigel did not know. Okay time to add the last ingredient. Nigel stirred and increased the flame. Then counter stirred for two minutes. He then added the bundle and watched what happened. It started to bubble then turn this weird magenta color. It was odd. But awesome. Nigel was sure it was done now. But it not necessarily want to try it out. So he would leave at that. A potion that is probably a dud. Nigel took out a test tube and wrote his name on it. He did want credit for this homework after all this work. He then took the scoop some of his unknown magenta potion into his test tube and put a cap on it. Don't want it to spill. Nigel then took out some parchment and wrote down his name and what his potion did which was unknown. So he wrote Unknown. He then left his potion where Lafay wanted them to with his note. He was now free to leave and get some food and hot chocolate. |

But not now. Now was dedicated to this moment, and how Theo had no idea what was happening inside him. What if it was rotting his organs? Would he know about that? He'd probably of felt it by now. "I feel ok." He said with a shrug. "Do I seem okay?" Mirror... he needed a mirror. "It tastes like feet. Want some?" Theo thrust his cup at West because come on, he wasn't dead so West totally had to try some, too. "Shouldn't it have... healed something?" Since it had soooo many healing ingredients. |
Post 6 SPOILER!!: Sophie! It was pretty adorable how Sophie's entire face lit up when she talked about Hair boy. Ella was just sort of really happy to see her best friend happy again. They could discuss this more, actually, when they'd finished their potion. They had some serious catching up to do. The blonde simply GRINNED in response and nudged the brunette before focusing again on the task at hand. "Yeah! It'll be a surprise at the end and if it's horrible, at least we can be grossed out together." Shrug. Seemed like a legit plan to Ella and if she was going to vomit from how vile this might be, she wanted Soph right there with her. The friends who vomited together, stayed together...or something like that. Peering into the cauldron, Ella nodded in agreement. "The pond slime made it really lumpy looking." GAG. The blonde wasn't a fan of drinking lumpy things. That's why when Sophie suggested lots of stirring, she nodded enthusiastically. "Yup, sounds like a plan!" You go, Sophie Campbell. The nonverbal magic thing? Ella was jealous. She needed to practice some more so she could be as good as Soph was. "14 times clockwise...right." She really needed to be paying attention here, didn't she. Scribble. Scribble. Scribble. "Well, the owl feathers are used in Dragon Tonic, yeah?" Ella held one up so that they could both observe it as she spoke. "That means they must be pretty powerful...I mean dragons are huge creatures." So they'd need ingredients in their tonic that'd be strong. "Maybe we can add in 4? 2 from each of our ingredients piles." Beam. Good plan? YUP! The sixteen year old added them in and gave the potion another 5 stirs, this time going counterclockwise. SPOILER!!: ”Journal” Okay! "Now we can test this...this...Mind healing and boosting potion out!" And hopefully not die. Dying didn't seem appealing to Ella. She was too young and had too many Quidditch matches to play. Scooping out some of the potion, the blonde gave her friend a nervous smile and said, "Bottoms up!" ... YUCK! |
Post 12 Quote:
".....okay." Well. He didn't have any zits so he wouldn't glow green, right? West took a cautious sip.... eh? It coulda been worse.... .... was it doing anything? "Well I dunno, were you sick? What if...." West leaned over and thumped Theodore in the arm. For experimental reasons obviously. |
Post 5 So the bottle of water was poured in the cauldorn now, and Kat had placed the fire on. Now with that, Kat looked back at her ingredients. Maybe she should like... drop in the jobberknoll feather now or lavenders one by one and then stir or something. Goodness, she didn't know what to do. so not well thought-out. SIGHS. Kat took the jobberknoll feather and dropped it in the cauldron while the water bubbled lightly. Then she stirred it clockwise a few times. Five times to be exact. That was done now. Goodbye jobberknoll feather. Then she could probably drop in the lavenders in a bit one by one. Yep. She was doing this step by step. Taking the first lavender, the Slytherin dropped it inside the cauldron and then took another lavender and dropped it too until all three of them were inside the cauldron. After that, she stirred the potion again five times clockwise. ... was it turning into the colour red? STARE. Was that supposed to happen?: Uhm... this was a random potion anyway so yeah. "No, don't think I was...." He had a sniffle a few days ago, but he was pretty sure it had cleared up before today. Theo sniffed just to check and nope, it was kinda still there. And then THUMP. Theo went to say OWH.... but he didn't immediately feel anything. His eyes went wide and he just stared at West for a moment. NO PAIN. THEY HAD MADE A POTION THAT STOPPED PAIN. They were SO gonna be rich after today. ............ "Owwwwwwwwwhhhh!" Okay, there it was. And of course, he thumped West right back in his arm. |
Post 13 Quote:
Hey what? That didn't even hurt. West eyed his arm where Theo had thumped him in confu--- oowwwww! ????? He eyed his arm and then Theo and then the potion.... and then he took another sip. And another. "Thump me again." He suggested. |
post 14 Quote:
Theo blinked as his thump took, like, a few seconds to actually make proper impact. Thump him again? Ok. He did that, but harder this time, then watched West closely. ..................... "What have we created......" Because it was awesome. Thank Merlin they wrote it down. |
post 14 Quote:
25..... 26... 27.... ow! He rubbed his arm. "About 27 seconds that time before I felt anything. After I had more sips. So its... its what... like a pain delay potion?" Blink. BLIIIIIIIIIINK. THEY WERE FLIPPIN' GENIUSES. y'know, if you ignored the green zit. West rolled his sleeves up absently and then noticed.... the scratches on his forearms were ALSO glowing green. Oh hum. Look at that. Blink. "Well, I guess we know what it does. And one of the side effects. I wonder what the glowing means though, since its on wounds and all, your zit and my scratches." Oh yeah btw Theo, your zit glowed. NBD. |
post 7 SPOILER!!: Alec The Prefect thought over the Hufflepuff's question about stirring for a moment. "I think it does matter sometimes.. but I really don't know how the direction or number of times affect it.. so maybe we'll just go with one stir clockwise after each ingredient?" He wasn't completely sure.. but it sounded as good as anything. He'd hope for the best. And he watched Alec added the ground nettle and give the potion a stir. He nodded at Alec's suggestion about the frog. "Sounds good," he said and pulled out his silver knife to start chopping up the chocolate while Alec added the drops of bubotuber pus. "Five..? Alright.." Ethan set his knife down once finished chopping up the candy and he jotted a few notes down. He put in one of the leeches into the potion and watched the mixture as it seemed to be siphoned off a bit. "Oh that sounds good," he nodded as Alec came up with a suggestion with their potion. Maybe one more leech.. Ethan dropped in another and said, "Except a draught is something you drink.." What else started with D though.. he liked that idea.. "What about Deflammation Demulcent?" The potion seemed to be a good thickness.. "Two leeches, I think." And he added that in his notes before adding in the chopped up chocolate and giving it one more clockwise stir. "Okay, I guess that's everything," he said once all the ingredients had been added. "I guess we should cast a spell over the whole thing.. Any ideas?" And then, should they test it out? Even though they didn't really have any inflammation at the moment, at least as far as he could tell.. SPOILER!!: Ethan's notes |
Post 15 Quote:
And there you go. Theo's eyes lit up at this creation. It was amazing. "A pain delay potion. How did we even..." He shook his head, then looked over in adoration at the cauldron filled with the potion. They needed to put this in a jar or something for now, because it was a perfect batch. "Woah, your arm, what the heck?!" He had GREEN scratches on his arm. Zit? What zit? "I don't have a zit." Did he? And it was GREEN? "You didn't tell me I had a green zit? When do you think it'll wear off?!" Oh my gosh, how embarassing. He covered his face immediately. |
Post 15 Quote:
"We did good." West didn't even care HOW it happened, he was all about taking credit for it, him and Theo. He eyed his arm. It didn't hurt or anything... or feel any bit different. So yeah, green scratches. Weird but nothing too bad yeah? ".... I did just now." Tell him. "No worries we'll just cover it up with some of that stuff what girls use." Nobody would even know. "I think it'll wear off... or maybe heal stuff up." Hopefully that really. "You empty that into some vials and label them and I'll write up the last part of the potions plan and then clean the cauldron." West suggested. "And then we'll figure out how to cover it up." Theo's zit. West was on it, it'd be sorted. Quote:

#6 Text Cut: Ellalala That was somewhat true. Being grossed out together was better than being grossed out by yourself. "I suppose so." Sophie chuckled, making a face at their Potion. Eek. With the pond slime it did look a bit nasty... and it looked like something that would make them sick. But honestly, that wouldn't be the first disgusting-looking Potion Sophie would ever have to take. She could deal with that, she supposed. As long as it didn't kill her, heh. Ohh, Ella's logic about Eagle Owl Feathers made sense. "Yeah, four sounds like a good number!" It would have to be anyway. Sophie watched her friend worked then just watched their mixture boiling as the blonde took notes. "Cool!" Then she unlit the fire that was burning underneath her cauldron. Maybe let the Potion sit for a few minutes before taking it, yes? It would be really hot right now anyway. ... Lovely then! "Bottoms up!" Sophie said at the same time as her bestie, gulping their creation and making another face. Meeeeerliiinnnnn, that taste a bit odd. Maybe they should have added a bit more salt? Or not; that would've probably made it worse. Eh, it wasn't undrinkable. She had tried worse. "Welp, let's just hope it doesn't kill us!" |
post 16 Quote:
"Sure." Theo grabbed a few of the vials sitting on their desk, then picked up his big scooper spoon again. He poured it into a couple of vials until the cauldron was pretty much empty, then plopped a lid on them. Labels... labels.... aha, sticky labels. Good job this classroom was equipped. Theo stuck a label on each of the vials which read; Quote:

post 16 and they're out Quote:
Once he'd done the notes up, and the cauldron was emptied, West went ahead and scourgified that and the other stuff they used and then packed it all up. He wiped the workbench down too. Good to go? And they had their vials of potion. He left most of them there but DID pocket a couple vials, Lafay would never know right? "C'mon, Lets get outta here." West said and led the way. |
Post #7 Text Cut: Ethan! A colour changing charm... yeah! "Yeah!" he said, nodding, "Only if we really really need to," And was it just him or was there a lot to think about when it came to this Potion making? Like... they had to think about ingredients and what to add first and how much to add and... well... as much as Alec liked working with Ethan on this, he couldn't help but be slightly glad that the potion was nearly done. Maybe next time the two could get ice cream instead? Less confusing, ice cream was. It matters... sometimes. Alec blinked. "Okay! Then... we'll just make sure to make a note of that in the instructions as well? Because... the more specific the better," Nodnod. Plus they were really specific, weren't they? The potions instructions? "Five!" It wasn't too many, right? And they were just drops so... hopefully, the chocolate frog would be able to offset the smell of the petrol. "Awesome!" the Hufflepuff said, watching as the Ravenclaw started adding in the leeches, "Oh! Deflammation Demulcent..." It wasn't too much of a mouthful, yeah? "I think it sounds great!" And two leeches... Alec quickly scribbled the number into his journal while... ... Oh? CHOCOLATE FROG? "It smells better too, you know," GRIN. No more petrol! ... Spell ideas... "Erm... spell... spell... A healing spell?" What spells did he know that would help them with this? "I'm not sure... But do you think we have to use a spell? Can't we just... wave our wands over the potion?" Or was spell casting necessary? "OR! Hey! Should we just leave it to simmer and cool down? Most potions are just left, I think." Or most of the ones he could remember. Text Cut: Journal! |
Post 6 Kat stared inside her cauldron. Eh... it looked ugly. The red didn't look so nice so Kat was in a hurry with the gillyweed. Kat took it, kind of disgusted because it was squishy and mushy, and then dropped it inside the cauldron. There was not point try to slice them or something because it was still gross and she wasn't going to touch it. Ew gross. There it was in the cauldron now. For the last time, Kat stirred it two times clockwise and then two times counter clockwise. Okay... she was done. And NO she didn't find the thing safe so she wasn't going to test it. Nope. Even if she wanted to know the taste of the bezoar (she was just genuinely curious about it) Kat wasn't going to risk her whole LIFE. So now the potion was clear. Was that... a good sign? It looked like clear water. How awesome... but she was done. YEP. D-O-N-E done. Katrina was out. Text Cut: Ze Parchment |
post 8 SPOILER!!: Alec Ethan nodded at Alec's suggestion. "Yeah, that's a good idea," he said, making specific notes about the stirring in his journal. Being specific was always a good idea in experimentation.. then you could tell what did or didn't work. He grinned over at Alec as he seemed to like his idea for naming the potion. He thought it was sort of catchy at least, even if it did take a minute to get your mouth around the words. Oh, did it smell better? Ethan moved his face a little closer and inhaled the fumes coming off the potion. A hint of chocolate and it completely offset the petrol smell. Awesome! At least they knew that part worked. Then he turned back to Alec as he question the wand waving/spell casting step. "Well.." he began slowly as he glanced back at the potion. "I don't think just waving it over the potion would really do anything.." There had to be an incantation for spells to actually work, right? "Um, maybe we could use a spell that I've done with other healing potions?" He looked at Alec to see if he'd agree before continuing. He waved his wand in an X over the cauldron and said, "Percurus." He hoped that Alec didn't mind, but he thought that one would be most effective.. though he was right, some potions were done without spells, but most of the healing spells he had done were. "Yes," he nodded in agreement. "We should let it cool down now." He pointed his wand at the flame and muttered, "Finite." That was another one he should work on non-verbally. "So.. should we test it out?" he asked Alec as he thought over whether or not either of them had any sort of inflammation. "You can punch me if you want, then we can test it on me.." He wouldn't mind being the guinea pig in their experiment here.. he had far too much respect for and interest in experimentation to be too opposed to trying it out. SPOILER!!: Ethan's notes |
Post #8 Text Cut: Ethan! So Ethan liked the idea of being specific? ... Awesome! "Thanks!" he said, grinning at the boy. Because being specific wasn't bad, yeah? Even if the instructions were starting to get a little bit repetitive in his journal. But... still. Too much information was better than too little, in this case. Maybe. Alec grinned some more as Ethan moved closer to the cauldron to take a sniff of the potion. "Do you like it?" The smell, that is. Because to Alec, it did smell really awesome. Unless he had been hanging out with Candy Girl a little too much. ... Nah! "Oh! Well... yeah! A healing spell sounds great!" And he watched as Ethan went ahead and cast some spell called... Percurus? Was that what he had said? "Minnie would be proud of that, I bet," Just saying Okay. So the potion was being cooled down. He looked over at the note that had been flying around. So... they had to leave it here with a note and- ... Huh? WHAT. PUNCH ETHAN, WAS HE MAD?! "But... Minnie would have my neck for that!" And Alec wasn't really sure about his punching abilities. "Erm... I... only if you're sure..." And he'd make sure to give Minnie something for this afterwards. Deep breath... deep breath... this wasn't Ethan... nope... ball up fist... THWACK! ... Breaaaaaaaaaaathe. "I promise to get you some ice cream?" Text Cut: Journal! |
post 9 SPOILER!!: Alec "Yeah, yeah, come on," he said, nodding and bracing himself for the blow. A little punch wasn't any big deal.. and certainly worth to see if his made up potion was successful. He took a deep breath and winced just slightly as Alec's fist made contact with his upper arm. "Alright, cool," he said, scooping up a little of the cooling potion. It was still rather warm but he'd deal with it. "Now to see if it works." He slathered the ointment-like potion onto his arm where Alec hit him and waited for a moment. "I think it's working," he said after a minute. "It seems to be cooling down and absorbing the pain." He grinned at Alec over their success. "Okay.. so I guess we just get a sample for Lafay and we're done, yeah?" Oh, Ethan was so excited that it actually worked.. he wasn't sure about the redness though, he'd have to wipe it off first. And yeah, ice cream was cool too.. Grin. SPOILER!!: Ethan's notes |
