Post 6 SPOILER!!: Anna Jory watched as Anna tried the Scouring Charm. "See? It's easy. Well done,'' he said with a grin. "The important thing is to concentrate after you've cast the spell.'' He now watched as Anna tried out the other charm. "So far so good,'' he though. But then... "I Thought too soon.'' Apparently she forgot the spell to end the floor and so now they had an overflowing cup and water spilling onto the table and then the floor. "Finite!'' he said hastily. "Don't worry about it,'' the Puffer said encouragingly. "You'll get used to it.'' He pointed his wand to the water on the table."Tergeo!'' The water vanished as it was siphoned off. He did the same to the water on the floor. "Okay, let's get back to the potion,'' Jory said. He quickly measured out the remaining six cups and Anna poured them into the cauldron. "Add the three caterpillars, Anna and then I'll light the burner.'' "Well, I guess so,'' the seventh year added. He always tried to be a good student. He grinned. "Well, I've only got a few more months left, so I hope you'll be able to learn lots more before then.'' And here was a question Jory did not know the answer to. "Er...no,'' he told the first year truthfully. "I really don't know.'' |

"Maybe you can pick out the Abraxan hairs from this clump here. I just pulled a bunch of hair out of the door hinge in the barn, and there's obviously some silvery-white hair in there that belongs to Barlow's unicorns. We only want the plain white hair... the Abraxan hair." That was a sort of difficult task, but he suspected that Lex was up to it. "I'm thinking what we're going for here is a resolve-strengthening potion. Erm... a Stubbornness Potion, if you will." The water started to bubble and Mo scrapped in first the ginger and then the dandelion roots, pausing to stir once clockwise in between. "We'll want to drop in the cockroaches whole later... how many chicken feathers do you want to add?" |

For a second there. Just a teeny tiny second, he actually felt sorry for her. He hadn't actually held back with that kick, but then she hadn't held back with her punch so they were even in his mind. And besides he didn't think she was the type to go off crying about it and he was sure that she wouldn't let him get away with it either. Which she confirmed seconds later with her comment. Michael couldn't help but grin at her. "Bring it on Merivel!!" He would look forward to that. If Rhodes thought that he was going to do all the work and she was just going to sit there and do nothing, she had another thing coming to her. Michael rolled his eyes at her and bit back the smart aleck comment that was on the tip of his tongue. Only because he'd had the same thoughts only moments before. "Because we won't be getting any marks for that." Not that he was overly concerned about getting full marks. He took a deep breath and his eyes went heavenward. "I think with the ingredients we have got." Well most of them anyway. "We could make some sort of beauty skin or hair product. We have my ingredients which will work perfectly." And he was not going to explain again why since she didn't want to listen to him the first time. "Then we have your ingredients." He refrained from rolling his eyes. "The spider's web we can use for its elasticity and protection. We could probably put the dirt in last to make a kind of mud mask. The cat fur could add a soft kind of texture I suppose. I haven't worked out what we could do with the Ice Mice though." Since she bought it. She could think of something. |

And now that it was almost officially decided that they weren't going to be making a potion that either one of them had to drink, which she was glad for after knowing what his ingredients were, she was going to get him back when he least expected it. It might not even happen during this school year! Rhodes wasn't the most patient of people, but seeing as it was something she really wanted to get done, she would wait years. And it was going to be so worth it. She was already smirking to herself at how frustrated he was seeming to be with her, and hearing his comment about not getting marks, she raised her shoulders up in a shrug. She didn't really care about getting good marks, or any really, but apparently he was one of those. And since she had went to him, she supposed they needed to do this all the right way. "Do you know a lot about beauty products?" Her smirk was visible now. It was actually a good idea, though, a really good idea. But she not was going to let him know that. As for what the ice mice could be used for.. "What if we added that very last?" Rhodes picked up the candy and placed it right against Michael's cheek. "Doesn't it feel kinda cold? That should be good for your skin, right?" She was always told to wash her face with cold water, after all.. "Or it could be used just to make the potion smell nice." And if he wanted to smell it, she'd have no problem with sticking it up his nose so he could. |

The potion turned green again. Alright, nice color. And it wasn't thick as before, it maintained the same texture. So far so good! "We're done then?" That'd be great. Now the testing part. "I think only one of us should try the potion...." she trailed. "..that way, if something went wrong, the other can help 'em out" And she would do the trying part cause she couldn't figure out what she'd do as help. "I'll try it" she offered, with the brave lion smile. |

Oh she could smirk all she wanted and he knew exactly what she was trying to do there and he merely laughed. "It's not unusual for a guy to look after himself you know." Not that he was at that age where he was bothered by that stuff, but his dad was rather particular about his looks and stuff. "And use products to help them with that." And before she could even say anything else. "And no I don't use them." So she wasn't as dumb as she looked. The Ice Mice did feel cool against his skin. "Yeah it does." he admitted grudgingly. That's about as much praise as she was going to get from him. "Okay, we need to get some water into the cauldron." Did she know how to do the water charm? He wasn't that confident with it yet. Of course she didn't know that... "We'll add the fluxweed first because it will need to stew for a while." |

SPOILER!!: Ethan's notes That was probably enough to go on for the leeches, he thought. His eyes then fell on the daisy and he started searching through the book again when he heard a voice speaking his name beside him. "Hey, Alec," Ethan said with a grin as he noticed the Hufflepuff boy sanding next to him. "No.. no partner.. I was actually waiting around till someone who needed a partner showed up. I guess it's your lucky day," he said sort of jokingly as he chuckled. Of course, that was assuming that Alec wanted to work with him, but he was there asking so that's what it meant, right? He slid some of his things over to make room for the other boy. "So what ingredients did you collect?" Ethan looked up at him, curiously as he gestured towards his own. "I have leeches, a daisy with its root, a chocolate frog, and mandrake leaves." Hopefully Alec had something to balance it all out.. but he was at least glad to be working with someone so they could at least bounce ideas off of each other. |
post 4 SPOILER!!: Sonea Daichi could not help but laugh softly when he noticed that Sonea took out a pair of PINK gloves from her bag. He also knew that she had a pink rat so figured that pink must be one of her favorite colors. The Slytherin didn't like it though. It reminded him of the Headmistress and she was a meanie who slapped Mr.Duckles! Yes, even after almost two years he still hadn't forgotten... "A Sneezewort is a poisonous plant and it used in mainly the Befuddlement Draught which cases the drinker to become reckles" he answered her as he checked the temperature inside the cauldron. It looked good. As Sonea began to chop up the ingredients in to fine pieces, Daichi decided to check on the spider he had collected earlier. He carefully opened the vial and...it didn't move. Poor spider probably had lack of oxygen. And Daichi felt sad about that because it was his fault. Why did he have to use an innocent spider as an ingrediënt?! Pouting his lower lip, he looked at Sonea when she asked something again. Colored bubbles? He gave her an what-on-earth-are-you-talking-about? look and looked inside the cauldron as well. He had no idea what was happening but he didn't want to scare the little girl. "Well, we are making a new potion so maybe the ingredients we used so far make this kind of effect" he smiled. Merlin, he hoped he was right! "It is kind of pretty isn't it?" he asked as he watched the colorful bubbles rise up in to the air. "How many times did you stir by the way? I need to write it down in case we make a REAL potion that could be used for something" |
post 1 This was one of the first times that Sarah was making her own potion. She really wanted to be able to use a recipe or something, it would have made her more confident. Yet now she felt so nervous and all. What if it does not work out? She looked at the ingreidients before her and sighed. She could not believe that she had to use all of them... What should she make? Maybe a healing potion for vampires, as the fangs of the biting toadstool were the healing part and vampires liked all things blood flavoured. She got more excited as she realized that she would add ginger too and that would make it more healing. And then a sudden reminder caused her excitement to deflate. What would she do with the eagle owl feathers? No vampire would like that, only a dragon wo-. Wait she had it. As the feathers were needed for a dragon tonic which was also a healing potion, then she could make her own dragon tonic with the biting toadstools and the ginger adding more healing properties. And the blood? Maybe for taste. Wasn't there a dragon that like eating humans, the Chinese Fireball was its name. So the blood could just be a taste thing in order to entice the dragon to take the tonic and disguise it. |
Post 4 SPOILER!!: Daichi Sonea’s smile widened when she heard Daichi’s chuckle and she knew that he liked her pink gloves, she was sure that he liked them! Everybody needed to like the color pink! Even her mother liked pink, and that was strange because they had not much in common, Sonea and her mother almost didn’t liked anything from each other, so if mom liked pink like Sonea, than it was really a good color! “Reckless? I don’t want that…” Sonea hated to be reckless, people who were reckless were having almost always problems and she didn’t trusted them, so if this potion would make her reckless she was hesitant to taste it. And… She wondered if it was a good idea to make a potion from a poisoned plant, and Daichi had just told her that that Sneeze-thing was dangerous! Sonea looked around her and wondered if there was somebody who wanted to taste their potion if she didn’t wanted to do it, but she was afraid that nobody would do it, only a stupid person would taste a potion from somebody else with a something in it what was poisoned! She wouldn’t have done it… “Oh, get that thing away from me!” Shouted Sonea and hide behind the cauldron and on the other side than where Daichi was standing, with his UGLY and DIRTY spider! “Is it death?” She looked warily at the spider but it didn’t seemed to move anymore. She hoped that the spider was death, and if he was not than she would send Little princess to the spider to kill it! She was still worried fro Little princess because she seemed to be sick but she was sure that she still was able to kill every spider she wanted! The young girl watched Daichi and wondered if he was worried or not because of the colored bubbles but he seemed to be relaxed about it, so Sonea was not worried anymore. “Yes, it is indeed really pretty, but I like only the pink bubbles, the other colors are not having the right colors” said Sonea while she pointed with her finger INSIDE the cauldron and let all the bubbles burst except the pink ones. “Eh, I don’t know, I have stirred at last stirred at last four or five times, in different directions…” Sonea looked satisfied at her work and found that the potion was now more pretty than before, with only the pink bubbles left inside the cauldron. “Oh, look at my finger!” Sonea stared surprised at the finger she had used to burst the bubbles and saw that it was colored brown? “Uhg, that is a ugly color…” muttered Sonea. |
Post 6 SPOILER!!: Jory 'The three sliced caterpillars?' She asked as she was already taking the caterpillars and putting them into the cauldron as Jory had said. 'It'd be a pity having your company in such a short time...' she said thoughtfully. 'By the way, Jory, I like to hear you calling me Anna. My mum used to call me Anna when she was angry with me and everybody called me Bee. I was thinking about to ask you call me Bee, but it's nice that now Anna is not a name which gives me goose bumps." She grinned and took a piece of parchment where she made some notes about the spells he had taught her: Quote:

And like he said, they'd be waiting, not something she was good at unless she was kept occupied--which Mo was being very helpful with at the moment! "Sure, no problem." And she got set to picking out only the white hairs. Some of them got tangled real bad and at one point she was tempted to simply yank them apart but that might have damaged the hairs. Resolve-strengthening...? She thought to ask but in the next breath he was explaining it simpler. "That'll be neat, especially if it actually works." Hard to believe but now she was actually hoping the cauldron wouldn't blow up. Lex watched him add the first few ingredients. "We should add all six of them because quite frankly I nearly lost my hand plucking them in the first place." Live chickens were fierce!!! "When should I add these hairs?" |
Post 2 SPOILER!!: Eliza Minerva smiled, she didn’t think Eliza was really waiting on her, but it was nice to feel like someone really needed her. “Well I’m here and I would love to be your partner.” Finding a seat she pulled her potions book and parchment out. Looking at her ingredients she sighed a bit, “This has been a really hard assignment, but I think the lavender is used for like stress relieving or a relaxation property. The chocolate bar is usually part of like the love spell so it probably brings out the happiness and stuff, because well chocolate does that, but I guess it could just help the potion taste better maybe.” Looking at the other two she had to think more, “The Jalapeno could be used for focusing or making things stronger and then the acorns could be to bring strength for the potion.” Looking over at Eliza she hoped that it sounded right at least. Usually Min was pretty good at potions, she loved to spend time in the lab, but she had to be honest she was terrified of this lesson. Biting her lip she looked at all eight ingredients. “Let me check my book.” She opened her book and skimmed through it. There had to be something in here they could use or at least maybe get an idea from. Then looking back at the ingredients she gave a small smile, “Now tell me if you think I’m way off, but most of these ingredients are naturish..” was that even a word and why was she thinking nature, had Ethan gotten into her head that much. Smiling at the thought she went on, “anyway, I’m wondering if we could make a potion that went along with nature or maybe even made someone better at Herbology.” Now she knew her thoughts had been interfered by her herbologist boyfriend. Looking at Eliza she wondered if the claw would like the idea or think maybe she was just nuts. “So what do you think?” |

"I think we should add the spider last, the finishing touch!" he grinned. What harm could that do right? She had stirred the potion a few times left and right without counting? Daichi slapped his forehead mentally. He began to open the vial of the owl feathers now and took out three of them. He threw one in the cauldron, the second one and... O__________________o WAS SHE CRAZY?! "What are you doing?!" he shrieked as he saw how the girl put her finger inside the cauldron and showed him the brown...stuff. Ewww. "Don't EVER touch a potion like that!" he warned, his voice was suddenly different. More authority like. Must be because of the badge pinned to his uniform. "It's dangerous, especially because we don't know what kind of potion this is, you could have melted your finger or ..i don't know.. maybe it could have grown to the size of an cat or something?" He sighed heavily as he ran his fingers through his hair. Was it just him or was it getting hotter in here? He wiped the sweat from his forehead and looked at Sonea again. "Does it hurt?" he asked, pointing to her finger. SPOILER!!: Potion making progress |
Post 5 SPOILER!!: Daichi Relieved that the spider was death she relaxed and walked back to Daichi, she didn’t thought that she was overreacting with her fear for the spider, she KNEW that they could be very dangerous! But now that she saw that the spider was trapped inside the jar and she knew that he was death, she was brave enough to come closer to it. But… She hoped that Daichi would keep it with him until the last moment and she wanted that Daichi would add the spider to the potion, she would NEVER touch a spider, death of alive! “I think that that is the best idea I have heard for a long time” Smiled Sonea when Daichi had suggested that he would add the spider at the last moment to the potion. “But, will you add it to the potion, I will not touch it!” A few minutes later she saw how Daichi had added his feathers to the cauldron, just when she saw that her fingers were brown. “Why? We have just started, so I assumed that the potion was not dangerous…” She had JUST added the ingredients to it, the potion wasn’t even ready, so why should it be dangerous? “Oh, my finger is not hurting, it is ugly, but It’s not hurting… I think that I just need to wash them to remove the brown color.” Sonea spoke lightly and was not worried at all! |
Text Cut: Ethan! ... Oh. Had he disturbed the older boy? Alec really really hoped not. But Ethan was talking to him and Alec couldn't help but grin back. Especially because the Ravenclaw said that he had been waiting for someone to work with him. "Yeah? Yeah, it looks like it is," he said, grinning at the boy's chuckle, "And it looks like you're stuck with me for a while." Although... this could be good because of Minnie reasons. Not that he didn't trust Ethan. It was more of... getting to know the psuedo!sister's boyfriend. Or, in other words: bro!time. "Thanks!" he said as the Prefect made room for him. Alec moved around and placed his items on the desk carefully. There. ... OH? "You have daisy with its root too?" And leeches, chocolate frog and mandrake leaves... Let's hope Hulk or Bluetiful didn't come in and notice the chocolate frog, yeah? "Awesome ingredients! Erm... what do they do? I mean... properties-wise?" As for him... "Apart from the daisy and its root," Maybe they could use double the amount? Whatever daisies were good for. "I have some nettles, a vial of bubotuber pus and... a vial of flobberworm mucus! The last three are good for healing potions, I think." Unless Ethan already knew that. Alec wouldn't put it past the Ravenclaw to already know that. ... "So... what do you think we can do with the ingredients?" |
Post 7 SPOILER!!: Anna As Anna was adding the sliced caterpillars to the cauldron, Jory set up the burner. He needed to set it to medium temperature. "Incendio!'' he said and make the complicated wand movement. A fire ignited and he adjusted the burner. "There,'' he said. While the ingredients were heating, the Puffer cleaned the wooden spoon they would use to stir. Now, it was time to stir. He started ''One..two...three..four...five...six...seven...'' All anti clockwise. The burner was now turned off. "Add the daises in, Anna, and you can stir it three times clockwise after you do that,'' he said. "I didn't know you had another name,'' Jory responded. "But as you like Anna, that I shall call you.'' Smile. "Oh, you just point your wand.'' Jory liked that Anna was such a keen student. She'd make a great student. |

*Gulp* Before Amara could say anything Laura had got a cup and had got some of the potion and drunk it. "EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!" Laura thought it tasted like sour eggs, she closed her eyes and refused to open them. "What has it done Amara? Is it safe to open my eyes?" |
SPOILER!!: Jory Annabeth added to her notes where it was written the tergeo spell a signal that means equal, which to her meant that she must only point her wand to cast the spell. The first year did it quickly in order to avoid wasting time with taking notes instead of brewing the potion. Jory had being so kind she wouldn't want disappoint him doing silly things. "Call me Anna. Anna sounds good in your voice." She smiled covering her mouth with her hands. It could have not sounded as she wished, she looked at the cauldron, then to the work station and picked up the daisies "Daisies, time to bath" she said in a musical voice looking to the daisies, while she put them into the cauldron, then added:"Now, the dance of daisies and caterpillars." She grinned and began to stir the cauldron three times clockwise. "Jory!!! It's yellow! The most wonderful yellow I've ever seen!" Her eyes filled with tears while she watched the potion with wonder and amazement, still holding tightly the wooden spoon. |

And again he wanted to slap his forehead but refrained from doing so. "If it hadn't been a potion the water would still be clear and the ingredients would have just been floating on the water surface and since its not doing any of that, its a potion. Which means it CAN be dangerous." she got it now? he hoped so because he did NOT want to say that again.... "But i'm glad your finger is alright" "But please promise me this, don't touch a potion like that ever again" he whispered but loud enough for the girl to hear. He then gave a smile and turned around to look at their left over ingredients. Motherwort, Jobberknoll feather, knotgrass and a spider. He checked his watched and figured that they should hurry up. He opened the jar of jobberknoll feather and placed it on the wooden spoon. He slowly sank it in to the cauldron and decided to turn three times clockwise and one time anti-clockwise. It was something right? And the potion DID change. Not the color but there seemed to be more smoke coming out of the cauldron now. Whether that was good or bad , he had no idea! "Ehm, right" he said a liiiiitle nervously. He then gave the motherwort to Sonea and placed his own ingrediënt the knotgrass in front of him. He saw that there were tiny little flowers on the motherwort plant and looked at Sonea. "Maybe the color of the potion will change if we pluck the purple flowers on that plant and add them to the cauldron" he said. It was just an suggestion, rather than just chopping it up. Of course the girl could decided whether she wanted to do that or not. He himself grabbed a mortar, cleaned it with Scourgify and began to smash the knotgrass in to a pulp. "How should we name this potion anyways?" he asked. SPOILER!!: Potion making progress |
Post Five- I think? And checking her instructions again. Which said to grate ginger over the cauldron, using her own judgement to determine a pinch. Sky cast a Scourgify over the grater and grabbed the ginger, holding it over her potion. Grate...grate...grate....grate And there was a pinch. Now to stir it until the ginger was mixed in. Which took about five minutes. Blegh. At least her potion had a pretty pleasant scent. That was good, right? Especially since it would be going on people's skin. Leaving to it to thicken, she started cleaning up the tools that she had used and preparing the containers for her potion. |
Post 8 SPOILER!!: Anna Jory laughed when he heard what Anna said. He supposed she was excited so she was saying random stuff. He looked at the cauldron as he heard Anna's excited voice moment later. It certainly was yellow. Bright yellow like their House colour. "Well done,'' the seventh year commented to the first year with a smile. Things were going well so far. He now lit back the burner. "Incendio!'' he said, his wand pointed beneath the cauldron. The burner was then adjusted to a medium heat. When the potion started to boil, Jory added the three eagle owl feathers and waited patiently until it turned red. More like blood red. He turned off the heat once again. "Go ahead and add the horned slug then you can stir it for the twelve minutes and then add the nettles, Anna,'' he instructed. He had been giving a lot of instructions and Jory hoped he didn't sound bossy. |
post 8 SPOILER!!: Jory Annabeth was quite happy by noticing their potion was doing well, exactly as they wanted to. She heard Jory's instructions and replied, putting the smashed horned slug into the cauldron while sang: "Bewaaaare! Disgusting smashy-slug is taking a bath!!!" she smiled, then her smile disappeared: "It's really a pity that it'll turn into pink in a few minutes... This red is perfect!" Anna took the wooden spoon and stirred the potion twice clockwise, then stoped. She checked time in her watch and added: "in the instructions is said that we should stir it every 2 minutes, for 12 minutesor or until it turns light pink. So we must wait." And sighed looking at his friend. He was gazing at her with a friendly smile on his face; she smiled back. "You don't mind if I keep joking, do you? I'm excited but I'm still worried, I want to do everything right and... oh, it's time to stir! One... two. Done. Now, waiting again." She looked at the table and found the fresh nettles already crushed still in the mortar. "I think we must have it nearby just in case the colour changing before the 12 minutes." Annabeth was bringing it close to the cauldron, when she bumped the mortar against Jory's Potions book. The book fell on the floor open, she took it and read in the top of the page: "Jory Stonewall. It's not a coincidence, Jory? You're Stonewall and I'm Glasswall!Oh, stirring time: one... two. Done." She stirred clockwise just as she needed to do. "I was saying: if you're Stonewall and I'm Glasswall, so we're two walls brewing a potion!" She laughed: "it's weird! Oh, Jory! Look at this: the colour is changing!" She was peering the potion's surface, where there were some pink dots emerging. When the first year was about to stir the potion once again, it became pink and she knew it was time to add the fresh nettles. She added 15 scoops carefully as they had written in the instruction and waited for Jory casting the spell to turn on the burner. |

She flinched at the "Eww" from Laura. Her look was that of total shock. "What did you think?" her voice had an edge of exasperation. "That I could pull up some wonderful spell if something goes wrong..?" Which reminds them of the problem in hand. The puff girl had her eyes closed. Amara eyed her with discrete scrutiny. Nothing was wrong. Her face was still hers. "It seems fine....." she trailed. And there! Her hair started to change color. So did her eyebrows. "Uhm....Laura, you're hair is changing color" she said, her voice uncertain. "Its.....uhm,...olive? eh..no, orange? It turned...." OH! "Laura, it's just shifting through color after color!" And the little girl was SO excited. "We made a color shift potion!" WOOOT! She could dance! They made a potion without any side effects. Yet, that was. "Do you have any eerie feeling..? Sick?" Hopefully she should not. |
Post 1. Anyone can join her ^_^ Time to start the Potions Homework. Since there was no essay to write and no cleaning to do, Gwen was actually pleased with the task. Just brewing a potion. Hmm. Inventing a potion better said. The seventh year casually made her way to the classroom, and headed to her seat. On her way, she spotted the flying note. After reading it quickly, the seventh year decided to set up her workstation and start brewing a potion. Well... let’s see..., she told herself, eyeing the four ingredients on the desk, and the piece of parchment on which she had scribbled a few notes. The peppermint seemed to have been a good choice, since it is used in numerous potions. Mostly because of its healing effect. Moving on. The nettles... Those were used in the Boil-Cure Potion. It probably wasn’t necessary to figure out the potions in which these ingredients were used, but it was easier to discover a new potion based on already known information. Gwen then glimpsed at the caterpillar in the jar. That was used in shrinking solutions. Used in, but not limited to potions with some transformations. And her final ingredient- the polypody. Seriously. Out of all the ingredients she could have picked, she took a POLYPODY. Sigh. She’ll have to figure out something for that. Hmm. According to her notes, that ingredient was used for remedies. Pause. Thinking of a potion for which she could combine all these ingredients. Moment of silence. Got it! She used a non-verbal ‘Scourgify’ to clean the cauldron and utensils. So- which should be the first step? Since they were allowed to add water to the potion, Gwen figured it was a good thing to start with. ‘Aguamenti’, she pointed her wand at the cauldron and watched it fill with water. So far, so good. |
