As you walk in the door there is a large note that's flying in the room. The note has the following instructions on it.

Your goal is that your potion should do something. If you fail, that is alright.
You may test your potion on yourself if you believe it to be safe. There are Bezoars if you are wrong. Leave your potion here and send me a note letting me know what your potion does. If good, I will try to sell it and the money will go to Hogwarts.
You have exactly two weeks from the date and time of this note.
Worth 20 points.
ooc: Make a potion. Any potion, whether it works or not. Minimum of 6 posts, no max. PM me when you are done with what the potion is supposed to do and whether or not the potion worked. Due two weeks from the time and date of THIS POST. Have fun with it.

Wand at the ready she nodded and practiced the words over her tongue quickly. “solvo misce laxate,” she cast it the first time. And again, “solvo misce laxate,” and finally “solvo misce laxate,” she was beaming now. The spellwork portion of the potion was done and well, that meant that the potion was almost finished.
"Alright what next?" She asked looking over to Beezus as she realized almost all of the ingredients were used. Heck they almost had a fully formed potion. Which was great. Really great.
Oooooh. Mika was a dainty partner when it came to these kind of things. Beezus didn't entirely think that the younger girl knew how to work out that spell. Beezus couldn't remember them ever using that before but it seemed as though Mika had done a bit of research and advanced studying herself for she had managed the spell quite fairly. What's more, it had the appropriate effect on the potion. It was orange now. It WAS supposed to be that way, right?
She nodded and grinned. They were almost done with the brew.
Next? "Gillyweed." Without so much as another word, she gathered the magical plant in her hands and added it into the mixture. The smell became even more peppermint-y. The color....well, it was now purple. Hmm. This potion seemed to be changing colors a lot.
Breathing in the wondrous smell, the brunette grabbed the ladle and use it to stir the mixture in the cauldron just as it had indicated in the list. 12 times, eh? She could do that. She'd been stirring numerous potions for six years now. This was easy peasy.
Stir. Stir. Stir........
After exactly 12 turns clockwise, Beezus removed the ladle from the cauldron and put on its lid. A glance at her watch to note what time it was so she'd know if fifteen minutes had passed before she turned to Mika. "I think we're done. We just need to wait for another 15 minutes for it to finish up." Beam! See, quick-paced just as she had anticipated. No cauldron accidents too. This was turning out to be a great project. Hopefully, the overall result would not be depressing. She really wanted this potion to work.
While waiting though, "Maybe we should start cleaning up while we wait for fifteen minutes." Yep. They'd be able to tidy up everything by then. Better consume the time they had. She pulled out her wand and began scourgifying things, the remaining amount of ingredients that they haven't used were also placed back on their corresponding vials and containers.

7 minutes more...
Mika sat there and watched as Bee added the gillyweed and continued on with the final steps of the potion. She did of course help cleaning up – the first thing she did was scourgify the jar that had held the dung…that way it wouldn’t smell bad in here anymore right? Or at least it would smell a little better.
“Yeah of course, cleaning sounds like a good idea” she nodded as she looked at the clock and they had five minutes left. She carefully began to clean the jars out and made sure to get rid of the remaining volatile ingredients. There was only a drop of the puss left – so that got cleaned out first. Then she glanced at the clock – five minutes had passed since Beezus had begun cleaning…they still had a minute left.
“One minute” she glanced up as she finished putting the jars away and cleaned the stirrer – heck, she even put out a jar to bottle the potion. And then glanced at the clock. 10, 9…8…she blanked out for a moment, 5…4…3…2…1.
“Time, its ready” she beamed. The potion was ready to be tested. “So, how do you want to test this – cause, I don’t suggest drinking it…with the dung and all” she added as an observation. Since she didn’t want someone to get sick or something. That would be bad.

Five minutes, yep. Mika was counting down too while they cleaned the materials they've utilized. Four minutes, three...two.....and then Mika was announcing that the potion was ready. Woot!
Beezus quickly extinguished the fire the provided the caudron's low boil, moved the jar that the younger girl had prepared for their potion and grabbed the ladle. Before bottling the brew, however, she decided to answer Mika's questions first. "Of course it won't be drunk. " She chuckled and shook her head. That potion had dung. Surely, no one would want to drink a dung filled potion even if it had exquisite healing properties, right? That was just ew. "This concoction will be smelled....for a whole minute." So instead of drinker, they can go by with smeller. Hah. And...."For the testing part, I can be the guinea pig and maybe...cut myself? Just a little bit? And we'll see if it works. If not, I have some dittany here," She nodded towards her pocket. "..and you can help me apply it on if worse comes to worst." She hoped not though. She badly wanted this potion to be a success and she didn't want to suffer for a while with a cut she'd be making on herself.
Oh well...
"I'll transfer it now." And with that, she pulled off the lid and there came that minty scent again. The simmer had caused the potion to be a bubbly hue of pink now. Beezus began to ladle the contents of the cauldron into the jar and once that was done, she turned to Mika once more. "Well...we have our potion here." MEEP! *mental!flail* SQUEEEEE. They've done it.................almost.
"Time for testing." She took out her own tiny bottle of dittany from her robes and handed it out to the younger girl. She'd know what to do. Then, Beezus held the potion up to her nose and breathed in.
INHALE. BREATHE IN. INHALE. For a whole minute.
Mhmm. She felt tingly. The good kind of tingly.
Her dark brown eyes strained on the floor for a moment before she unholstered her wand. This won't hurt much, right? They've tried cutting themselves before back in Ancient Runes. Certainly this would only be close to an ant's bite. Riiiiiiight? Yeah, she didn't know.
"Here goes nothing." Using her wand, she rended a small cut on her palm. Red blood oozed from the spot and Beezus bit her lip as she winced and hissed at the pain it caused. Was the potion not working? Crap. It was actually starting to hurt more the longer she let it sit. And she was just about to tell Mika to apply the dittany when she noticed the cut slowly caving in and then..........it didn't hurt.

..."It.......worked." There was still blood on her palm but the cut and the pain that came with it was.....gone.

Mika’s eyes went large, really large when Bee said she was testing it. And then she watched with wide-eyed shock as she watched Bee cut her palm. That wasn’t good. “Oh are you oh-“ she stopped mid sentenced and watched as the potion worked. Her eyebrowsraising in shock.
“Merlin – it worked! It really worked!” Be beamed up at the older girl. “I’m sorry you had to – you know hurt yourself but I’m glad the healing potion worked” she was beaming of course. Because well, they had just invented a potion hadn’t they?
She carefully began to clean the rest of the supplies that they had left over. Lifting the ladle out of the cauldron - but leaving it resting above it she carefully began to clean it off. "Scourgify" the ladle was suddenly clean. And doing the same with the cauldorn she watched as it went from film-covered-grossness to clean metal cauldron.
She of course cleaned the glass stirrer and the remaining jars from the ingredients. And well she was just excited because well, the potion had worked. And the ingredients weren't impossible to come by. Heck - Bee had found a feather on campus right?

It worked! It worked! It worked, right? It DID work, yea? Her cut was gone completely, and it didn't hurt internally. PLUS....she wasn't feeling anything weird. No side effects? Merlin....she wanted to jump and bounce and squeal and yeah....but that was not proper behavior to be observed inside the Potions classroom so she kept her excitement to herself, though she could see in Mika's eyes that she was as excited too.
"It's okay...it didn't hurt that much." It did, actually. But who cares...there was no trace of the cut right now except for the tiny smudge of blood but that would be easy to take care of. She just had to wipe it on something, say, her robes. Yep, that would work. Wipe, wipe, wipe. Okay...now there were no evidence of that whole stunt. Only a good ol' amount of useful potion in front of them now.
As Mika went and cleaned off the remaining items they had used, Beezus used the time to attach a note on their potion addressed to Professor Lafay, she labeled it with hers and Mika's name and also scrawled down what it was the potion did and whether it worked or not. Heck, it worked.
So....GRIN GRIN GRIN.
Gluing the note onto the jar with a spell, she exhaled almost cheerfully. She pushed the bottle gently to a part of the table where it was far from potential accidents and then scuttled over to Mika and gave her a thumbs up. "Great job! It was so fun working with you." She gave the girl's cheek a slight pat and then headed towards the door.

Hmmmmmmm. Clement bent over his textbook to find out what he was supposed to do now. Ahh. The salt water. He frowned, trying to work out why he had to put that in. Probably something to do with the salt content. Though it would've probably been easier to just put salt in. But he had salt water. so it was all good really. "Add salt water slowly, whilst stirring anti-clockwise." He nodded, standing back up, and wincing a little. Bending over like that had made his back really ache. But enough about that. He had a potion to brew. Reaching for his salt water he undid the top, and poured a little amount slowly into the potion. Holding his wand in his other hand, he began stirring the potion anti-clockwise. He hummed to himself a little as he poured the water in. He tried to be as careful as possible, because he really didn't need to it splashing all about. He really didn't need to get his uniform all wet and stuff. About 2 minutes later, he'd poured all of the salt water in, and completed all of the stirs. The potion had turned a tad lighter shade of green now. Pretty good. Green potion for a slytherin boy.
He consulted his textbook though, to make sure that the colour was the correct one. He picked up his textbook this time though, because he didn't want to hurt his back again. A grin spread across his lips. It was the correct color. Though he figured it may have supposed to have been a little darker. But he really didn't care. As long as it was kind of right, he was happy. Now moving on...

The nod. It meant that he understood, right? And that Alec wasn't confusing the older boy? ... Awesome! Because the last thing they needed were two confused boys trying to make a potion.
Depending... "Well, I guess... if it won't affect the potion too much then it'll be okay?" he said, reaching up a hand to ruffle his hair. Potions was confusing sometimes. Yep. Especially all of this 'make your own potion from the ingredients you've collected' thing. Which actually made him even more glad that he had Ethan to work with on this. ... GRIN. "Yeah, we did!" he said, looking back over at the potions ingredients again, "And they'll work well together too, right? I mean... they're not those type of ingredients that are completely opposite and shouldn't be used in the same potion... yeah?" Because the last thing he wanted to do was blow up Lafay's classroom. They'd probably have to leave the country if that happened.
Nodnod. Good point. Alec liked the sound of that. And speaking of good points, Ethan was making even more good points! "That sounds awesome! Like... like a way of shrinking away bruises? That ties in all our ingredients really well!" he said, grinning really widely, "Yeah! Erm... like burn healing paste! And... you can create ointments in a Potion-ey way, right?" This was probably the benefits of working with a Ravenclaw. Or anyone who was smart. Or just... anyone. He would have never been able to come up with these ideas on his own.
"Water and flobberworm mucus..." Nodnod. "Oh... do you need help cutting either one of them up?" Although... he wasn't great at Herbology so maybe Ethan should be one to do it. And he could do the adding part. Like with the flobberworm mucus. "And we could always add more flobberworm mucus if the potion gets too runny?" Hopefully they had enough, yeah? "But I think that sounds really awesome!" Look at them, having a plan already! GRIN.
... Woah. Alec BLINKED as Ethan did something and... the cauldron became cleaner. And now he was making water come out of his wand too! It was only a trickle at first but... "You know how to cast non-verbal spells?" GRIN. ... Oh. Maybe he should be doing something too. "Yeah, and then it'll turn green, right?" The Hufflepuff hastily made a small note in his journal before looking back over at the ingredients again. "Oh hey! Erm... so it'll be flobberworm mucus and then the daisy roots? Are we going in order of importance?" Is that how these things were made...? "If so... maybe the chocolate frog can be added in last? For the flavour and jumping qualities?"
Text Cut: Journal!
Ingredients:
⊲ 3 Leeches
⊲ Daisy/Daisy root (double the amount, in case?)
⊲ Chocolate frog
⊲ Mandrake Leaves
⊲ Nettles
⊲ 1 vial of Bubotuber Pus
⊲ 1 vial of Flobberworm Mucus
Steps:
1. Fill cauldron halfway up with water and heat
2. Once it has boiled, add in a vial of flobberworm mucus (or less?)
Ethan nodded slowly, thinking over Alec's words, and peered into the cauldron. "Yes, I think these ingredients will go well together.. I'm sure there are a few potions that have at least a couple of these ingredients in them." And they worked, right? He looked back at Alec, giving him a smile and confident nod. "I don't think they would counter-balance or anything like that.." And if they did, they could at least say they gave it a good effort.
He started chopping up the daisy roots with his knife and glanced up at Alec as he seemed on board with the whole ointment and taking inflammation away idea. "That's exactly right," he grinned. "Ever make bruise paste? It'll be sort of like that.. now you got the idea.." Ethan was so sure this was going to work now.. he was starting to get excited about it.
Daisy roots were done and he moved onto the mandrake leaves, chopping them up as well. Then he looked up as Alec offered his assistance in that respect. "Oh.. no, I got these.. maybe you could grind up the nettles with the mortar and pestle? It helps to extract the juices." He gestured towards the equipment he had set out earlier, then asked, "Did you bring your own gloves? There are some in my bag if you didn't.. it's best to handle those with gloves." If not, it was quite possible to get stung by the hairs and come away with a rash or inflammation. Ironic, since they were trying to create a potion that would remove that.
"To be honest, I think we should add all the flobberworm mucous.." he started, looking over at Alec to see if he agreed. "We want it to be really thick to use it as an ointment.. plus I think the bubotuber pus will help with that.. and if it gets too thick, the leeches should help in absorbing some of the viscosity.. um, I think anyway." It sounded good to him.. but really, he'd leave that part up to Alec. He could add as much or little as he thought was necessary.
"Hmm?" he looked up from finishing chopping the mandrake leaves as Alec asked a question. "Oh.. well, I'm just learning, I guess," he said with the hint of a proud grin. "I can do Scourgify.. and almost an effective Aguamenti.. but they're easy ones I've been doing forever. Just staring to try to do them non-verbally." He slid all the chopped leaves into a neat little pile and set his knife down. "Um.. sure," he said uncertainly, though he tried to act confident and knowledgeable. Would it turn green..? He wasn't completely sure.
He looked over the ingredients for a moment before turning back to the Hufflepuff. "Um.. I'm not sure what order, that's a good point though.." He thought about it for a moment. "What do you think of this? Water, then flobberworm mucous.. then we'll do the plants - daisy root, mandrake leaves, nettles.. then the bubotuber pus and we'll try the leeches, one-by-one, to see how much suctioning off it'll need.. then the chocolate frog at the end. Though I think it will be more for the smell than flavor if it's applied topically rather than ingested. It might offset the smell of bubotuber pus." He shot Alec a grin, wondering what he thought of his idea.. because, you know, that stuff smelled like petrol and all.
He peered into the cauldron again. "Okay.. the water is boiling. So, you can add the flobberworm mucous if you want.. and whatever amount you think, really.. I'm just making an estimate. Then stir? We should probably stir after each ingredient.." That would mix it all in best, right? "Then I can put in the chopped roots and leaves." As long as Alec was okay with Ethan's thoughts..
Instructions
1. Fill cauldron 1/2 full of water, set on flame
2. Once boiling, add vial of flobberworm mucous, stir
3. Chop up daisy roots and mandrake leaves, add to mixture and stir after each ingredient

When the cauldron stopped rolling and hit a leg from one of the working spaces, Daichi checked if Sonea , who lay in cover beside him, was okay and when she said she was he let out the relieved breath he hadn't even realized he had been holding in.
He did hear her muttering though since he was close by her and he smiled a little. "It's not your fault" he said. Well, technically it was but he wasn't going to say that to a twelve year old. He wasn't heartless.
"I've exploded a few cauldrons when i was younger, it's all part of the learning process. Atleast now you know what NOT to do , right?" he asked as he motioned to the mess they had made. "We should clean this up... do you have potion on you?" He got up from the floor and grabbed his wand.
"The Tergeo spell is a cleaning spell that sucks up liquid...like a potion" he said and waved his wand at his own clothes and said. "Tergeo!" It was luckily an easy to do spell so it didn't take long until his clothes were clean.
"If you clean the mess on the desk and make sure the notes are not damaged i will clean up the floor and cauldron"
He then turned and walked in front of the desk. He crouched down so that his wand was closer to the potion on the stone floor and he sighed again. "Tergeo" he said and watched how the liquid got sucked up in to the wand before it vanished.
He did the same with the cauldron that lay on its side and with an added "Scourgify" for good measure he picked the cauldron up with his still gloved hands.
AWW, there was a crack on the side of the cauldron. Must have happened when it fell off the table... He knew how to do the repairing spell since it was teached in everyones first year so he wanted Sonea to do it. So she had credit for cleaning and repairing things as well plus it would help her learn.
"Hey Sonea, you know the Reparo charm right? cast it on the cauldron, i'm sure you can do it" he smiled. He sat the cauldron on the table and waited for her so that they could leave the classroom.
Daichi told her that it wasn’t her fault but she didn’t believed him, she had been doing all the things wrong while she tried to make the potion, she was the one who had made the cauldron explode! She was SO ashamed of her actions! She was also sure that the other students had seen what had happened and they were now all probably laughing at her! Sonea’s cheeks colored pink and she didn’t wanted to look around her, afraid that if she would look she would see that everybody was laughing at her. But she knew that she couldn’t stay here forever and she stood up.
“Yes, I have learned my lesson and I don’t make the same faults again” promised Sonea while she looked at the cauldron that lay on the ground. She meant what she had said to Daichi, she really had learned her lesson, but she was sure that this would been not the only cauldron that she would let explode, or at least, she would not been surprised if something like this would happen again, she was not so good at making potions, even if she did her best for it.
When Daichi had asked her if she had potion on her she looked stunned at Daichi, “of course I have POTION on me! The cauldron has exploded, look at me!” Sonea pointed at her school uniform that was dripping from the potion and her hair! At first she had thought that her hair was fine, but now that she looked in her pink hand mirror she saw that her hair was a total MESS! Her hair was horrible! The only thing what was still not drenched with potion was her hair ribbon.
The young girl wanted to complain about the mess and how she looked like, but this was her fault and Daichi was covered with potion as well, and he didn’t complained about it… She sighed and shook her head. “Yes, I’m covered with potion, and you don’t need to help me, my hair is already a mess and I want to do it myself to look good again. You are a boy and boy’s don’t know how to fix the hair from a girl!"
The young girl imitated Daichi and pointed her wand at her own clothes while she spoke the spell, “Tergeo!” While she watched her clothes she saw that the spell had worked and she did the same with her hair and her shoes. She saw relieved that her shoes were pretty again. She nodded to Daichi and did what he asked, she spoke the spell again and pointed her wand at the desk and cleaned everything that was on it.
Sonea looked again at the cauldron and now saw that the cauldron was broken. She nodded again to Daichi, she knew the spell and she wanted to show the older boy that she was smart enough to use it. “Reparo!” said Sonea and the cauldron was no longer broken! She looked around her and saw that all the mess they (or she) had made was now cleaned!
Minerva thought of what Eliza was saying, [b] “You know that’s a great idea. Maybe if we decide this potion need to sit, then we could run and get some peppermint or something. I have gum in my trunk if that might work for taste as well, if not then maybe we can just deal with it or maybe someone in here might have some candy or something to help.”[b] She hoped at least or hopefully it would just be alright without something.
Nodding Minerva agreed, “Yeah I like the steps we are taking as well. This is actually kind of fun. I’ve always liked potions, but to just make one myself is kind of scary, so I’m glad to be forced to try.” Since she was thinking of being a healer trying out different potions might be something that could help her in her profession, so if she did alright with this, maybe she wouldn’t be to afraid to experiment more.
Giving Eliza the reigns again she watched and listened. Nodding with the unity that was the way Minerva was thinking, so it was good to be on the same page. A unity with nature, could it possibly give her a unity with creepy dangerous plants so she could be braver around them for her plant loving boyfriend. She would love that if it could. “Oh reducing the flames was probably a great idea. We don’t want the potion to hot or it could ruin the ingredients already in it. Good thinking Eliza.”
Scrunching her nose as she watched Eliza drop the leeches in. At least they didn’t have to take the blood or juice or whatever out of them. This was not as nearly as gross. Thinking about the time, Minerva looked at the time. “ As we let it set we can figure out the rest of the potion. We have the chocolate bar and the salt. So I think if we put the entire chocolate bar in then that should help for the taste and the salt for absorption should probably just be a pinch.” She looked at Eliza to see if she felt the same way. “Then lastly is the spell, now I remember one that I had saw in a book. It was about nature, so it might work. The wand movement is a circle so I would say do the circle over the cauldron then the words are fac mater natura, which literally means make me mother nature, so isn’t that what we are trying for.. well sort of?”
Looking at the time three minutes had went by, “Alright I’m going to go ahead and put the chocolate bar in.” Unwrapping the heresy chocolate bar and chuckled, “Guess it was a good thing I keep my muggle candy in my trunk.” Once she was finished unwrapping it, Min placed it carefully into the cauldron and it started melting instantly. “Now for the pinch of salt” Minerva took the salt and sprinkled it in. “Now I think all we need is to stir it clockwise again, umm maybe four times and the spell. Would you like to do these?”
SPOILER!!: Notes

½ cauldron of Water
1 Jalapeno peper
Leeches
2 Acorns
1 chocolate bar
1 daises
Pinch of lavender
Pinch of salt
1 owl feather
Directions:
1. Fill cauldron ½ full of water
2. Bring to a boil
3. Squeeze Juice and seeds from 1 Jalapeno into cauldron
4. Stir seven times clock wise
5. Place shrunken owl feather into potion
6. stir in a wind like motion (twisting vine like) 3 times
7. Crack and remove meat from 2 Acorns, place in cauldron
8. Stir clockwise 4 times
9.add a pinch of lavender and 1 whole daisy at the same time
10. Let sink and dissolve
11. reduce flame
12. add two leeches
13. Let potion set on burner for 3 minutes
14. add 1 whole chocolate bar
15. add a pinch of salt
Eliza watched as Minerva added the chocolate to their potion. We're nearly done now! she thought as she watched the chocolate melt into the brew. The leeches surely would have absorbed much of the potion by now, and hopefully that would make the strength of their potion increase. She chuckled, "Yeah I guess it IS a good thing you had some!" She wrote down the notes on what they were about to do, and watched as Minerva sprinkled the pinch of salt over the potion.

Increase skill with Herbology and other nature-related tasks
Potion Procedure:
Clean cauldron and workspace
Light burner
Fill cauldron half way with water
Squeeze all the juice from Jalapeno
Add seeds, stirring clockwise seven times
Reduce the feather to a small size
Add the feather to the potion & stir in a winding motion (like twisting vines) three times back and forth
Crack acorns in mortar and knife out the meat of the nuts
Scoop meat of acorns into cauldron
Stir clockwise four times
Add the 1 pinch of lavender and 1 whole daisy w/roots in cauldron simultaneously
Let them sink to bottom, they will dissolve

Add leeches whole, let simmer and marinate in the potion for 3 minutes
Add unwrapped chocolate bar
Then lastly add the pinch of salt
Stir clockwise, four times
Say incantation fac mater natura "make me mother nature" while drawing a circle with wand over potion
She took the spoon in her hand again and cleaned it off before dipping it into the potion. "Yeah, okay four times clockwise sounds good." So she went ahead and stirred it just how Minerva had said. Once she was done, she removed the spoon, cleaned it again, and sat it on the table.
She looked at Minerva and said, "Hey, that's great!" She copied down the spell. "Fac....mater....natura. So fac means make me?" She wondered how it was conjugated. Did it start our like facer or something? Nah, I have no idea. Moving along, she practiced saying the incantation with the wand movement. "Fac mater natura...fac mater natura...Okay I think I'm ready," she said and faced the cauldron.
This was it, the big moment. The time when you either did it right or did it wrong. She took a deep breath and slowly circled the cauldron with her wand. "Fac mater natura," she said calmly, trying to invoke a peaceful union with herself and the spell and with the spell and the potion. The brew glimmered a deep shade of green once, and then lightened to a pale mint color. She looked at Minerva and said, "I think it's done. Now..." she pulled out two vials from her bag and used a small spoon to fill them. Once they were both filled, she handed one to Minerva and kept the other for herself. "How are we going to test if we're more...one with nature?" She looked around the room and didn't really see any plants...or anything all that happy and natural for that matter. "Let's run out to the student garden really quick and try this out!" She quickly cleaned up their workspace, "Scourgify!" and went out the door with her partner.

Minerva watched as Eliza worked on the spell, practicing it a few times and then she put her wand over the cauldron. Watching as she did the circles around the top of the cauldron and saying the incantation perfectly. So that was that now was it. Looking back over her notes, Minerva wanted to make sure they had done everything. Used all the ingredients. It really looked like that had, so now all they had to do was test it. Well that seemed easier said than done, because at the moment she was worried that she was going to poison her friend with a potion she kind of thought of.
Taking the vial out of Eliza’s hand Minerva checked it over, alright so this was suppose to make them better at herbology, now what an awesome thing if it could work. She was okay at herbology, but with wanting to be better for a certain claw, she would love if this helped.
Now they had to test it, well how would they know it worked inside this classroom. Just as she was thinking about where they could go test it Eliza already had the answer. “Yeah that sounds like a plan.” Just as she was going to get her wand out to clean the area, Eliza already did it. Double checking the tools and making sure everything was back where it originally was, Minerva picked up her bag. “Alright let’s head to the student garden.” Checking one last time over the area, Minerva followed her younger friend out the door.

Tobias strolled into the potions classroom, eager to get started (and get creative) on what was sure to be a very interesting potions assignment. Straight away, he went to find his potions ingredients that he'd left on his desk earlier, as per the instructions: fluxweed, a tiny vial of salt, ginger root and lavender.
After setting up his cauldron and potions equipment, as well as preparing his ink and parchment (for he was still unsure of quite how to go about this task), Tobias surveyed his ingredients and placed the end of the quill feather in his mouth, occasionally rifling through his potions textbook, as he tried to work out what he was going to do.
Huh.
So.
Tobias had pretty much decided that he was way out of his depth with this piece of homework. There was no way he'd be able to think up a decent potion recipe and work out the right amount of stirs and stuff to get it right and all that stuff that all the potions in his book had. And he was limited in what he could use. Yeah, this wasn't going to be possible.
BUT it was fun and creative and... you know... learning curve?
He'd come to a brief conclusion about what he was going to do with the ingredients and noted it down, but decided it really was a case of just chucking things in the cauldron and hoping for the best. Every potion had to start somewhere. Granted, the potioneers probably had a better idea of ingredients and their properties and what to avoid and what did what but sTILL. Gotta start somewhere. May as well go straight in.

Tobias decided that everything all mixed together had the potential to make a poem that would kind of fix a lot of things at once. The ginger and fluxweed and salt when added to water did the feel better stuff, and the lavender would calm the drinker down and also smell nice. Maybe the ginger could help with the taste too. This was so exciting; Tobias could make a 'Feel Better Potion' and get rich.
Excitedly filling his cauldron with water from a nearby tap before returning to his desk, Tobias mused on what to do first. Well... probably add the salt to the water. He went to light a fire first before realising what his mother once said about this one muggle medicine and how you shouldn't dissolve the drink powder version in hot water but cold, because it affected how well it worked. That may not apply to salt but it sounded well thought through, so Tobias added the salt and THEN lit the fire under the cauldron, stirring gently to help the dissolving process along, making a note of exactly what he was doing and when and in what direction. Well... maybe not exactly, but close enough.
Glancing at everyone else and what they were doing, Tobias couldn't help but feel like his potion (read: possible pasta preparation) was not all that exciting. Well... maybe something would blow up later. That would be fun.

Screwing the lids off the little pots she had sent from home, Sky gave them a nice Scourgify before carefully spooning her now completed potion into them one by one. It was a rather tedious task that required a lot of concentration and she did end up spilling some, but not as much as she thought she would. Just a few drops here and there that were quickly cleaned up. Once all the little pots were full, she screwed the lids back onto all but one. This was to be her tester. Her mosquito bite was itchy, which was good because then she would really be able to tell if it worked. She stuck her finger in, got a little dab on it and spread it on the bite. And...... success! A damn useful potion too, if she said so herself (which she did). She reached for her specially designed labels and realized something else. Her potion, while still working, had also disappeared. Awesome! A very big plus, especially if the witch or wizard using it were particularly vain. She quickly added that information to the labels, as well as some instructions. And, of course, how she could be reached in case the person that bought it wanted more. She then stuck the labels to the sides of the containers.
After screwing the lid back onto the pot she had used and pocketing it (who wanted a used potion?) she sent off her letter to Professor Lafay. Proud? Why yes, she was.

Clement was not looking forward to the next step. He hadn't been entirely sure when he'd brought the unicorn dung in the first. But now...he really wasn't wanting to use it. It was kind of sneaky. Which was why he had been trying to leave it as long as possible. But he really needed to do it now. Or he might ruin the potion. He sighed, pulling the bag with the dung closer. He sighed a little. Not looking forward to this. He was not going to be touching it at all. Not going to happen. He pulled the text book closer, reading what he had to do with it. Ahh. Just plop it in. Well that was going to work. He wasn't into having to actually cut it or anything. Nodding to himself, he placed the text book bag down, and picked his wand up. He would be using his wand to do this, because he was not touching any of the dung at all. He levitated the bag up, and carefully emptied it out into the potion. Plop. Plop. Plop. And it was in and he hadn't had to mess with it at all. Perfect.
He quickly consulted his textbook again, figuring out how many times he needed to stir it. "8 times clockwise." He murmured, before pointing his wand at the potion again, and stirring it 8 times. It was more of a darky green now. Clement had preferred the lighter color, this was not so nice. But it seemed right. Hmm. Glancing over at the textbook, he noted that he needed to wait 5 minutes whilst it brewed. So, he sat himself back down, and packed away the empty containers.

Now it was time for Sarah to add the feathers, or so she decided. It was prety cool working without a recipe. How should she use it? She decided to excerscise her creativity and use it her way. First, however she lowered the flame, just incase it reacted like porcupine quills to the heat. She held a feather over the cauldron and with her hand slid off the feathery bits from each side.
Soon she was left with the centre of the feather so she took out her wand and began to cut it over the cauldron into little strips. She then mixed the brew and began with the other feathers. She slid off their bristles on both side and chopped up the little bit. Sarah thought it was a good way to do things economically, using each bit. After each feather she mixed the potion once and when all the feathers were in and mixed it three times. So now it was more like a dragon tonic

Clement had kind of gotten a little bored during the last brewing stage. He'd started doodling into his potions textbook instead. A little random doodle. He'd looked up, and his eyes had widened. He'd missed about 2 minutes. Opps. Maybe getting distracted wasn't the best of ideas. "Opps." He murmured, pushing himself off of his seat, so that he could look at the potion better. It was a dark green color now. It wasn't as nice as the other greens. But Clement didn't really care. It had brewed. Although he had no idea if it was actually going to end up working or not. Part of him didn't care either. He didn't have much need for plants, so he hadn't cared too much how to fertilize them. He'd brought a plant though, to test his potion out. He didn't really know how fertilizer was supposed to work out either.
Oh well. After turning the heat off, he spooned a little bit of the potion onto the plant, and waited a few moments. Nothing really happened. The plant looked a little perkier. So he figured that must have meant it had worked. Kind of. That was enough for Clement though. Picking up the potion container, he filled it with his potion, before screwing the cap on. Perfect. Job done. Clement quickly cleaned up his things, and vanished the potion.

Theo soon regretted his pathetic choices for ingredients. He'd gone for the safe option, and now he was stuck. What could he possibly create with daisy roots, a spider, nettles and a glass of water? It would be like one of those fake potions that a six year old tries with their mother's make up products mixed with outdoor ingredients. Not that he ever did that, nope.
He dumped his stuff on the desk and surveyed the cauldron and everything else around him.
Well, water first, obviously. Theo tipped his glass of water in the cauldron and just watched it for about 3 minutes. Yeah... he was going to wait for a partner, because they WERE allowed, right? Cool. Theo took a seat and kicked back with a chocolate frog.

With all that had happened recently, West was behind on almost all of his homework. Seriously. Just... so behind. Nothing overdue but it was all looming and most of it required doing actual stuff. West chose to go to the potions classroom to work on his new potion assignment before the others though, because Lafay reasons.
Oh look it was Theo. With a frog. West immediately sat down with his buddy, not bothering to ask or anything because obviously why would he? It was Theo.
"What's in the cauldron?" He asked and started unpacking his bag and his own ingredients. All on the table and also... his parchment with notes from class.

Nigel was well on his way to making at least an attempt at a potion. He was not optimistic that he would make a successful one. But he had to try at least. It was his homework after all. He had the water in the cauldron and it was lit underneath. He open his bottle of water and dropped it in just to be sure it was his water.
Now on to his second ingredient. Which will be selected by chance. He closed his eyes and moved the jars around in the desk. He then stopped and picked a random jar. He selected knotgrass. Great the only thing it as used in was polyjuice potion. Same as the leech and Nigel did not feel capable of making it yet. Maybe in the future.
Nigel tossed the knot grass in and stirred the cauldron of about five minutes to see what would happen.

So... since Ethan thought that the ingredients would go well together and wouldn't cause the potion to blow up, Alec was just going to go along with him. Because the guy knew what he was talking about, yeah? "Let's hope we don't cause an explosion in the class, then," he said, grinning a little at the boy. Bruise paste? Had he made it? "No... but I know what it looks like, I think," Wasn't it bright orange or...? "Have you made it before?"
Also... Ethan had started cutting up the ingredients! Which meant that he had to do something useful as well, yeah? "Awesome! And... yeah, I did!" Which, he should have put on before now, yeah? He reached into his pockets and brought out his gloves before hastily putting it on. Wiggle wiggle wiggle went his fingers. The boy grinned at Ethan before reaching over and grabbing hold of the pestle and mortar. "Thanks for this!" he said, placing the nettle into the mortar. He was just... going to assume that they had to use all of it, yeah? Or he could just grind up all of it and they could measure out the right amount from that? Nodnod.
"Oh! Yeah... yeah, that sounds good," he said, keeping his eyes on the nettles he was grinding up with the pestle, "And that means we'll have to wait to see how thick the potion is before we add in the leeches?" Since the leeches were going to be adjusting the viscosity of the potion itself.
It was still REALLY awesome that Ethan had managed to do a non verbal spell. And so effortlessly at that, too. "It's really impressive, you know," he said, grinding up the last little bit of the nettle, "Are they hard to muster? Doing spells non-verbally?" And hadn't Sophs managed to do some charms non-verbally? ... Yeah... he was starting to feel really stupid now. Although, there was a lot of time left for this stuff, yeah? ... And the potion was going to turn green. ... Wait... "Oh, Ethan? What colour should the ointment be?" Because no one really wanted to apply something in a nasty colour onto their skin, yeah?
Finishing off the grinding of the nettle, Alec grinned and looked up at Ethan just as the guy started listing off the order. "Yeah, I think that works great!" Nodnod. "Good because... chocolate smells a lot better than petrol," And if he was buying something to apply to his skin, he'd rather use something that smelt like chocolate. Just saying, bubotuber pus, just saying. And speaking of bubotuber pus... "Hey, Ethan? We'll have to make sure to dilute the bubotuber pus, yeah? Because then it'll be all... well... it won't be great. So maybe we should add some water into it first or just add tiny drops at a time?"
OH OH OH! Water was done? Yeah? "Okay! Erm... I'll just add all of it then? Because, like you said, the leeches will be there if it gets a little too thick." He shot Ethan another grin before picking up the vial and looking at it carefully. "Yeah... yeah, that sounds like an awesome plan! And at the end... we'll wave our wands and it'll be done?" That's what they did in Potions, yeah?
"Okay, here goes!" Courage... courage... He opened the vial and carefully poured the contents of it into the cauldron. Once that was done, he placed the empty vial down and grinned at Ethan. "Daisy roots time, yeah?"

What was Alice possibly meant to create with deplorable ingredients like the ones she set on her desk? She'd chosen four of the easiest she could find, but as far as she knew, the only thing that could be made with a rat tail, magical horse hair, Knotgrass, and dandelion roots was an explosion. Not that she would ever implode something on accident or anything, because she was clearly more tactful than that. Really. She was.
But, tactful or not, she wasn't was clever enough to think of a way to concoct a potion with those things by herself, so she was going to wait for another partnerless person to show up and tell her what to do with them. Because that was permitted, yeah? Or something.

He still had to figure out what he was gonna do with them though. Aaaaand figure if they'd work in well with Theo's stuff, because West automatically assumed they would now work together.
Obviously.
Oh, perfect, it was West.
Theo sat up straight and finished off his chocolate frog which had made him a little bit full up. Hmm, he possibly would need the toilet any minute now. "Oh... it's water." Yeah. He looked over West's ingredients as he placed them on the table. NOTES, too? Wow, he should've thought of that.

"I don't get this homework." He said simply. How could they just make up a random potion using random ingredients? It would NEVER work. "I got... a spider, daisy roots and some nettles." It was only three because the water was kind of an ingredient, too. He knew briefly what each of his ingredients could be used for, but it was very foggy in his head.

Then she had one last ingredient - the ginger. Sarah lifted the root to her nose and sniffed. Sniffing was Sarah's strongest sense after all. It smelt really nice and reminded her of the gingerbread men she once made. Yet this time the ginger was not going to be for human consumption.
Now how should she prepare it? Usually one peels the root before they use it. Sarah had not seen her mother do it as ehr mother preferred to cook when her children were not around as the Edwards children were bound to pickat the food. The batter was a prize, yet even before the recipe were finished there were hands that would grab into the bowl and take a chunk of dough. Sarah had read that one peeled it first so perhaps she should do that?
She took out her wand and began to peel the skin off it. She left the peels on the side just incase she needed them as well. Once the ginger was peeled Sarah looked at it. How to proceed? She had done some research into other potions that had used ginger and some either sliced it, chopped it or cubed it. What should she do.
She decided to dot he bigger size first that way if she made a mistake she would be able to correct it easier. She began to slice up the ginger into thin slices. Once that was done Sarah decided that cubing was better so she sliced it in the opposite direction, therefore getting a cube. Yet even when she had a pile of cubes she decided that that would not work. She was going to make it powder.
She reached for the mortor and pestle and used the cleaning charm on both of them. She knew both the ginger and fangs would end up mixed in the potion any ways, yet she was scared to mess with the properties of the ginger. She dished the cubes into the mortor and began to squish them with the pestle. It was easier to do it this time as the ginger was softer then the fangs and soon Sarah had fine powder at the bottom of her mortar.
This time too she sprinkled it on generously. The scarlet of the brew began to take on a slightly more orange colour as more powder was added. Quite a few sprinkles later the mortar was empty and Sarah began to mix the brew once more.

West rubbed his nose thoughtfully. "Well I guess... did you work out what all that stuff can be used for separately?" Because that was a start yeah? West had a few thoughts about it but it did make it easier to see it all in front of you.
"Its not so bad, its just that we have to use the theory of what the ingredients do and how to process them to make up a potions plan, and put together something that should work. It doesn't even matter if it doesn't as long as we can justify all the junk we put in it and how we put it in."
Because obviously they were gonna work together on this. Obviously.

Sarah put up the flame for a bit and then she was done os she turned the flame off. She took out 3 vials and filled them with the potion. The one was for Professor Lafay. That one she Labled with her name, year and house. She corked it. Then she wrote her note to Lafay saying what the potion did. No,she was not going to test it as she was not a dragon nor did she have one. She put Lafays vial aside. The others were for her and Professor Barlow (in case she wanted one, Sarah could ask).
Now it was probably a good time to write the notes on her potions, in case it was needed or something. What should she call it. "blood flavoured healing dragon tonic with ginger properties' was a mouthful to say the least. "Sarah's stupendous Tonic for Chinese Fireballs" also did not work. In the end she still could not decide and decided to call it blood flavoured healing dragon tonic with ginger properties in the meantime and so she began to write her notes:
SPOILER!!: notes
blood flavoured healing dragon tonic with ginger properties Ideal for Chinese Fireballs as they like human blood so it will encourage them to eat. The ginger and toadstool fangs are both packed with healing properties. INGREDIENTS:
One vial of human blood*
2 Fangs of Biting Toadstool
3 eagle owl feathers
4 ginger roots
Method:
Clean the cauldron
add the vial of blood, light the flame and allow to simmer
add water
Take fangs and with mortar and pestle turn it into fine powder. Lower flame of cauldron and add the fang powder
slide the bristles off the feather and add to potion. Then chop up the spine of the feather and add that too. Turn up flame
Peel ginger roots, and crush with mortar and pestle into fine powder, sprinkle it into the brew stirring at various intervals
turn up flame and allow to simmer for a minute.
Turn off flame and your tonic is ready
*NB: Although Human Blood was used in this case, it is prefereable that it is not use as that will whet a Chinese Fireball dragon's appetite for humans. As a former Hogwarts student that is currently studying dragons put "it's like dangling a pizza in front of a hungry Gryffindor but telling them no". The blood of an animal like a pig will taste just as nice to a Chinese Fireball Dragon
Then Sarah copied the page, she would send it to Kurumi later.
Now with that done, Sarah vanished the remaining part of the brew and began to clean all the equipment. Once it was all clean she put it away. She thought she was now done.
So she packed up and and left the room, leaving the vial and its note the only evidence of her brewing.
Ella was just staring at Sophie. Staring and giving her friend a knowing look. There was a smirk too, for reasons. See? She'd been getting really good at the whole smirking thing. Mordy would be proud, yeah? Dylish too. Huh. Snakes sure did smirk the best, didn't they? "Whatever you sayyyyy, Soph!" Grin. Grin. Grin.
"You're lucky to have such an intelligent brain twin!" Cause that complimented her own brain so well, huh? "He's been really busy lately, yeah?" She said with a frown, knowing how upset Sophie must be not to be able to spend time with him. "I bet he misses you, y'know. You're very missable." And she beamed at her friend before scanning the text book for some information about the cinnamon she'd gathered. How much would they need, anyway? "Yeah!...I hope it doesn't taste too horrible." She said seriously as she glanced up from the text. "Do you actually think anyone did go for poisonous ingredients?" BLINK. That was a scary thought! Alec didn't have any of those, did he? O__O The hair flip earned a broad smile and Ella giggled before saying, "You're welcome!" BEAM.
Jobberknoll feathers were a go, then? Ella nodded and dropped them in, listening as she worked. "Yeah, I think letting them simmer is a good idea. Maybe that'll better get out all their natural erm...juices or whatever." And Lavender next? Ella tilted her head and eyed the amount Sophie had gathered. "I think we should only add a few of the petals, yeah? Maybe like..." One didn't want to be so relaxed that they fell asleep or something, right? "How about 4? Gran has cooked with Lavender before and she says a little bit goes a long way so...we don't want to overdo it."
Scribble. Scribble. Scribble.
...
When five minutes was up, Ella added in the 4 Lavender petals and bit her lip. "Simmer for two minutes?" Like she said, they were pretty strong. They probably didn't need as long to simmer.
"What are your thoughts on the salt and cinnamon?" Because those were what she was eyeing next.
SPOILER!!: ”Journal”
Ella got another grin from Sophie. Yeeesh, she was right! Whatever good thing that was spoken about Mordred was correct. Well, in her opinion, at least. "Yes. Thank you."Griiiiiin.
"I sure am!" Sophie chuckled and looked back at the book. She was reading stuff about spices now. "He is." She shrugged at Ella's remark of how busy Mordred was. "But it is for a greater good." Well, it had to be. His parents wouldn't be that happy if he failed to become... whatever he was going to become, would they? But of COURSE he wouldn't fail, because he was so brilliant and smart. The Hufflepuff laughed at her friend's comment on her being missable. "Why, thank you."Paaaaaaause."He is too." Hehe.
About how the Potion would taste... "We have a couple of ingredients here that I suppose will help making the Potion taste better. I think... I hope!" She added, looking around at their ingredients. If she actually thought people had gone for poisonous ingredients? "I have no idea! If someone did... I hope they know what they're doing."
Good! This Potions inventing thing wasn't that complicated after all, it seemed. "Yeah, makes sense!" Sophie agreed with Ella about the amount of Lavender. Also good that she got to keep the rest of those purdy flowers, hehe! As Ella scribbled, the brunette watched the Potion simmer and glanced at the book every once in a while to check a few details about the ingredients they had gathered.
Salt and cinnamon. "I think even though they have properties as well, we can use them mostly to spice the Potion." Or something. "You know? So we could add some now and maybe some more later, if we think it's necessary?" Like cooking? "I wonder if it's alright if we taste the Potion before it's completely finished?" Sophie really had no idea...
Anyhow, she took the salt and added a little to the Potion. Blink. Was it too much? Or did it need more? Uh... maybe this creating a Potion thing wasn't that simple after all. "Tell me when to stop?" Sophie told Ella as she continued to add salt little by little. "I wonder if the Potion will change colours if we add the cinnamon?" Saying that, she added a little bit of cinnamon too.
And..... waited. "Do you think that's enough?"
